let him sleep. it bounces around in her brain. he's in division more often than not these days, more than nikita or michael or alex or bellamy or her. called in on their days off, in charge of running everything and not just whatever nikita decided. he's there more than anyone, and he doesn't get enough sleep because of it. doesn't sleep there because it's division. doesn't sleep here because she keeps waking him up.

let him sleep. but she can't. because it feels like she's gonna burst out of her skin soon, and she can feel his arms tightening around her as she bounces around. he's gonna wake up anyway. she's not sleeping either. let him sleep. she pushes his chest. "i'm sorry. i'm sorry." dammit she's horrible at this girlfriend thing. she has more to apologize for, but she's rubbing his chest and apologizing for waking him. "you're okay. nikita's okay." it feels necessary to point out. "i just... i'm sorry. you were right. i never took you seriously when it came to your feelings for me, and that wasn't okay. i'm sorry about that. i...i treated them like a joke or like less than what they are, and i don't do that with you...but i did. i didn't listen. and when you tried to tell me that, i kept not listening. but you were right. you've been right. no excuses this time. i'm sorry. okay, you can go back to sleep now. sorry. just...needed to do that. it's.....a lot of months too late."

well, I can't say I expected the new chapter to feature Idia (metaphorically) going to (metaphorical) hell, getting a pep talk from his (metaphorical) Phantom brother which helps him finally move on once and for all from his brother's death, and (metaphorically) overblotting again to fight his way back out of (metaphorical) hell, only to have his darkest fear (non-metaphorically) come true when his mom goes through his computer and finds all his secret files. but I am glad it did!

it's immensely funny to me how andrew lloyd webber read this passage from the book and was like yeah the journey down to the phantom's lair is this really breathtaking magical gondola ride where christine is just captivated by the strange and fantastical beauty of it all (see below)

when in the novel they're both like in a rowboat in the dark with christine scared out of her mind and confused as hell while erik is paddling like he's out for an extreme day of fishing and just staring christine down for the entire duration of the journey without blinking once . like mind you his eyes quite literally GLOW in the DARK and he's just fucking staring into her soul and silently rowing and probably not even breathing like
