The Last Kingdom (spoilers ahead)

Does anyone else watch The Last Kingdom? I know it's been out a while but I'm still warning for spoilers in case anyone hasn't seen it and wants to or just recently started it and isn't far through it yet.

Do you all hate Brida as much as I do?

I've been rewatching it yet again, and every time I watch it I remember how much I can't stand her. She's such a fucking idiot. Uhtred made some stupid decisions along the way, no doubt, but Brida is an absolute idiot. You can see him change and grow up as the series progresses but she doesn't change AT ALL. There's absolutely no character progression with her. She's just consistently obsessed with fighting and being a Dane, though she was not born a Dane, and even the natural born Danes know when to walk away and avoid a fight.

Then she is the one who gets her daughter killed and yet she blames Uhtred. He wouldn't have harmed her little girl when he was trying to get her off that roof. It was Brida's insistence that the child try to jump to her instead of going to Uhtred, that got the child killed. Then she goes and fucking castrates Uhtred's son Uhtred, and Uhtred NEVER would have harmed a child to harm their parent. Ever.

I absolutely cannot stand her. And I mean from the very beginning. Not when you see the child version of her, but once she's grown...just...ugh. I don't like her. I guess she's supposed to be this tortured soul, trying extra hard to be Dane because she was born Saxon, but I don't give a fuck. She's an idiot. Ragnar Ragnarsson was born a Dane and it was his father who was murdered and even he is more understanding to Uhtred's promises to Alfred and more understanding of Uhtred constantly being pulled between two worlds. But not Miss Brida, nooooo.

She's one of my least favorite characters ever on TV. Okay, rant over. I just needed to get that out there.

Helena is just so funny I'm sorry. She's trying to convince herself she's playing 5d chess with Mark but deep down she wants the romance plotline Helly has and then in reality she's a horror movie villain with not enough genre awareness. Every single interaction with every version of Mark she holds power over him and she needs that power to feel secure! She abuses it to have sex with him and hides that information from him on the outside so that she can always feel like she's in control. But unfortunately it means she can never have that full authenticity that Mark and Helly have. She's going to try her best though!
