so now that my fic for the secret santa is done, I've been getting back to working on chapter 35 of revolution (it's coming!!! I got busy with the second half of the semester hskhfdkshkfjfk), and to get myself back in that headspace, I was going through some older chapters and reading, and I forgot about this part:

Powder rolls her eyes as she feels her phone vibrate in her pocket. She’s not really sure what is left to say about the pizza place and its shady parking lot. They’ve gone by and scoped out the place twice and found it pretty inconspicuous. Powder is sure they could hit it if they had to; the usual precautions would need to be taken, but the tip seems good. Good isn’t enough, Scar says. Blah, Powder says back. They’re at an impasse.

I still feel like i have a lot more research to do before i set plans in motion... but i think my Lady Stede costume is a toss up between a robe a la francaise or a robe a l'anglaise. (the design comes down to whether im wanting watteau pleats, essentially)

from what i can see, most the dresses in the show (or the ones im looking to take inspiration from anyway) are francaise- Evelyn's dress & Mary's wedding dress clearly have the back pleats. but. the yellow dress Mary wears when she shows stede the painting (and Stede the boat) sparks the most inspiration in me, and ive watched the clips numerous times, and i dont think? it has pleats.

basically what im saying is the costumes in the show are a little inconsistent and also vary the style up, so im not bound to any one style. historically, im thinking that the people in Barbados would be drawing more of their styles from England, rather than France, but i still dont think that actually limits me, just something to consider in my research.

things i know i want:

engagantes (sleeve ruffles)

a decent amount of trim (though not too much, as none of stedes costumes are that ott)

a contrast stomacher (which means it needs to be open front, i think?)

...and thats as far as ive made it. all superficial things really, but important points to look for when im looking extants, i guess.

this is all day 1 research, so i have a good ways to go before i really start to understand my options, but id love an opinion on what you think?

However please just be warned that I am very similar to Fictional!Matty in the sense that I get horrifically carsick so I need to be the one to drive... but also I'm not the best driver and I have astigmatism so I see extra bad at night... but we'll be fine I promise I've only hit one decorative rock ever and also I drive a Toyota SUV so we'll be fine 🫡 my only other concern is that you won't like my current playlist very much.... haha

anyway the main "incorrect" fandom thing I see about him is in regard to the scomp arm. anyone who thinks he "needs" or "deserves" a hand is just wrong. I'm someone who thinks it would be nice for him to have a hand, but he certainly doesn't need it ok. disabled people never need to be fixed, and it's not your place as an abled person to decide whether or not they should get their disability fixed thanks 😌

also, I have very unique feelings about him in regard to my level of attraction towards him. cause on the one hand, yes, obviously he's attractive, he's a freaking Clone for goodness sakes. but also, because I associate him SO much with @jam-n-ham, I literally think of him like a brother, so I literally can't be attracted to him. is he hot? yes. would I smooch? also yes. does this mean I'm attracted to him? I have to say no!! Ham has literally told me it's ok if I'm attracted to him, but that changes nothing. he's my bro, and that's all there is to it 🤷🏻‍♀️
