PLWEASE send them your questions not me JAJFHDSF #I thought it would be cool if macaque has two separate forms as a shadow and inside a mindscape. like I wanted his shadow form to reflect #him in his prime and then the mindscape form as what he looked like when he died. or a more vulnerable state at least #based on LBD appearing to MK as the ivory lady when she died in the S3 special. I don’t know exactly what it was but my first thought seein #the white void was she was appearing to MK in his mindscape to talk to him. so I built on that #I wanted to give him a more ‘Smokey’ look as a shadow just based on how he manipulates them in the show like in shadow play. Watched this a while ago with a friend and it was a lot of fun!!!#If you're reading this: thank you so much for hanging out with me I had such a good time (ㅅ´ ˘ )♡#Next to general considerations: wow they were right that Bungou Stray Dogs movie sure can Bungou Stray Dogs #It's always nice to see the detailed animation and elaborate backgrounds of movies. The animation quality compared to the manga is–#definitely noticeable and it's nice to see. That said... I still like the season 2 art style more? And I'm speaking strictly of art style.#The s2 one looks more soft and smooth while the da one is so much more rough.#The plot is... Very bsd-esque I don't think there's anything to add.#In my opinion Kyouka's arc is the one that turned out best tbh. I really like her narrative development and personal growth in this movie.#I like the complexity of her state of mind. how full of contradiction she is. I especially appreciate the recurring small changes of–#expression that indicate how she thinks differently from Atsushi even if she doesn't voice them. The fight between her cynicism and her–#kind nature. It's all very interesting.#Atsushi's development is interesting too. Although all the open questions about his ability we still have kind of leave me frustrated #I don't feel very strongly about Akutagawa in this movie? I mean‚ he's there. The ss/kk scenes are always great and in character and a joy–#to witness no matter what they do. He just doesn't shine particularly? Or at least personally I dont find the “proving my strength against–#myself” narrative arc to be particularly interesting. Imo it was a lot better flashed out in the da stage play! With the complexity that–#the dialogues with Chuuya added to the character. Dazai attacking him. And especially Aktgw understanding that Rashomon wasn't testing Aktg #but rather only expressing that unstoppable rage that is also Aktgw's own. About that I checked out the play and I really liked it!!#I only watched highlights (aka: ss/kk and chuu/aku scenes) but there's some stuff I really like. I like the conflict between Aktgw and–#Chuuya and how Chuuya messes up with Aktgw at first maliciously and then amiably. It's interesting how Atsushi himself observes that Kyouka #and Akutagawa get along. And especially the sskk almost-handholding and Atsushi saying Akutagawa has a nice profile were cute akjdhbsawhjb #Next. Da really is shipping paradise (╥﹏╥) Sorry but... It is. oda/zai. daz/atsu. ss/kk. s/kk. fuku/mori. chuu/aku. It really has everythin #and the moments are so good!!!! What else. Wish we'd see more of Tsujimura. And Christie. And women in general tbh.#Also‚‚‚‚‚ Atsushi's tiger form in this movie is ATROCIOUS. I've said it before but it's crazy how a franchises that relies so heavily on–#fanservice came up with something this hideous. Man the movie overall was pretty but Atsushi sure wasn't. Firmly stand by the belief–#that only Akutagawa would find that form attractive.#Oh last note. honestly if we're ready to accept a movie where an antidote has effect AFTER the person has effectively died then we really–#can't complain about any kind of insanity the manga brings up #random rambles

Speaking of coins, I think it's neat that we have a trinity of Apollos with uncommon characteristics:

Apollo Karneios with ram horns and ram ears, Apollo Soranus with a star diadem and a pick-axe and Apollo Vejovis with winged head, a trident and a dagger. (The last two are the results of his syncretism with Roman deities)

What's more fun about the coins of Apollo-Vejovis is that some of them put a thunderbolt under his bust or straight up show him holding it:

And I can't help but think of this being equivalent to a girl wearing her mom's makeup for the photo day

#apollo #look Apollo has already used thunderbolt in a couple of classical texts #I don't think Zeus would mind if his son borrowed it for a few minutes for a photoshoot #Okay jokes aside Vejovis is such an obscure deity (just like Soranus)#The explanation given by Gellius is that Jupiter/Jove is ultimately derived from “iuvare” which means “to help”#so Vejovis was the antithesis of Jove...doing the opposite of help #he was believed to bring harm with his arrows #So was also prayed upon to avert evils #hence his syncretism with Apollo #I also feel like they also just syncretised Jupiter with Apollo to some extent here #because soon after stating his identification with Apollo #Gellius has mentioned that a she-goat was sacrificed to Vejovius (yknow as a nod to Amalthea nursing Zeus/Jupiter #this also happens with Apollo Soranus actually #Soranus is conflated with Apollo and called the highest of the gods #and Servius notes that “highest of the gods” is a title given to Jupiter #so yeah it was a not a complete or even a direct syncretism but there was a line that connected them #and i find the implications very interesting #mine

The first thing she felt was Pain.

The second thing was the warm glow on her arm and back-

The ones filled with cuts and burns that’ll last decades on-

-and also heard Soft Humming coming from her right as the soft and warm welcoming glow moved up and down her. Sealing the made cuts and burns to the best of his ability-

She scrunched her closed eyes and tried to move fingers. Groaning in pain as she couldn’t even do that. The warm glowing and the soft humming immediate stopped as relief breaths and chocked sobs filled the room.

Where was she? What happened? Her memory was so foggy. Why was that?

The fact that she was questioning everything thing was pissing her off.

A hand gently touched her other shoulder, the one not glowing the one still covered in red blood and black burns and while she flinched harshly from the contact.

“…ena…..ena?….” The voice said.

She grunted in response. The hand shook her just a tad before a slap was heard.

She grunted again in annoyance before trying to open her sore sore so fucking sore eyes.

Even opening her eyes were tiresome.

Was this how humans felt when they were on the verge of death tired and tried to pass away out forever?

Despite her blurry vision. The faint outline of a helmet with wings on the sides were still noticeable.

“Ena…Athena!” He cried out.

“Erms…” Athena mumbled out in attempt to make the noise in her ear stop.

Hermes smile was strained and forced as he heard her sister hoarse voice. “Yes. It is me, Athena….Your voice sounds horrid…..Here,,,,water. ….Drink.” Hermes said (atleast that what she got out from her cotton filled ears) as he raised a glass of water to her lips.

Said Goddess closed her eyes and slightly lifted her head up as the fresh cool water hydrated her sore throat and cried and chalked lips.

She was a Goddess! Why was she using terms that only Humans Had!?

The glass left her lips as she heard whispers. Suddenly, a cool wet hand came in contact with her closed eyes.

“Just washing the blood from your eyes dear.” Another voice called out. Soft, welcoming, warm. Guilty, heartbroken.

Hera?

“What….What happened?” She questioned while Hera cleaned her face. How long had she been out for?

What happened to make her feel like she’s near Uncle’s underworld—-

“You humilated dad.” A rough but surprising quiet voice chipped in.

Ares.

Athena’s eyes widened at the memories of Fathe- Zeus’s little Game.

About how she won and how he still punished her and how she still moved on and how she

Suddenly, the Goddess tried to get up -despite Apollos -and everyone’s protest— since she remembered what she was even fighting for in the first place.

Odysseus.

Her Wandering King.

Her Champion.

Her Friend.

Her breathing started to pick up.

Was she too late-

Is he dead-

“Odysseus is fine Sister. He’s off of that….That prison of an island.” Hearing the energetic happy go Hermes scowl was so out of the ordinary. But she couldn’t complain when she was bleeding red and weak.

She simply exhaled her holding breath, stopping any attempts of getting up, and let her head fall back into the soft fluffy pillows. (When did those get there?)

Ok.

Good.

She didn’t hear anything else as energy drained out from her body, leaving sleep to snatch her for a while. Not forever, luckily.

(She wasn’t thinking straight. Not at all. But for now. The goddess of the Mind could rest her own mind since her family was here, couldn’t she??)
