There is that one time when someone joins your fiber arts group and she singles you out and sends you texts and it's obvious she is reaching out because she feels a connection and you see it and suggest you have lunch and y'all do connect even in the most bizarre ways possible...

...and then you find out she's never had people she jived with and she is ADHD/Anxiety/ Autism and people don't read her well, AND WE ALL UNDERSTAND AND SHE JUST GOT ADOPTED WITHIN AN INCH OF HER LIFE...

Something that amuses me between knitters and crocheters is this... almost humble nature each craft has about the other. I couldn't imagine how one would knit, and I know some of the basics - and yet, I have met so many knitters who say crochet is impossible, and yet I find it to be so simple. There's just something charming about when one recognizes just how much skill, effort, patience, and care go into a craft, and to be humbled by just how incredible human ingenuity and creativity are

people often wonder why I don't sell my knit beanies (except to one very lucky friend) and here's why:

I use 2 balls of 100% merino wool (€13).

it takes me about 12 hours to knit a beanie. even if I were to ask the minimum wage of €13,68 an hour, that would tally up to €164,16.

this alone would be a total of €177,16 ($196) - delivery costs and profit margin not included.

would you pay $200 for a hand knit beanie? 💸

went out for lunch today with my grandma and two great aunts and everyone is a knitter/crafter and we all wore handmade knits and i got so many compliments from them on my knit button up i feel so special

okay y'all, i've never actually done something like this but i decided on a whim the other day to start a sewing project, and i'm gonna do my best to document it here just for my own enjoyment lol!

the goal is basically to take this jacket (pictured below) that I bought on amazon for a kotlc halloween costume a few years ago and spruce it up a bit

the current plans are to:

reinforce the bottom edge of the skirt part so it has a little more structure

replace the buttons with ones that a) look nicer and b) are more durable (right now they're plastic and also have this crown/crest design that almost feels like it belongs on a flag or something??? idk I just don't like them very much and wanna have different ones)

maybe do some embroidery on the bottom edge of the skirt (and potentially other areas as well)??? i haven't fully decided yet but leaning towards yes if I can manage to teach myself embroidery before my interest in this project disappears lol

(i might also do something with the zipper pull, i can't really decide if i fully like it as is but that's a thing for future me to worry about haha)

but yeah i think the vision is mostly just fun jacket with vaguely steampunk-space-pirate vibes (à la the mechs lol) so we'll see what happens!

♢ Ellie Perkins knits in her spare time. She knit her own scarf, and both Piper and Nat's scarves. She also does other things like gloves and socks, and is working on a blanket.

♢ Ellie's parents were triggermen. They both died in a shootout when she was still a teen. It inspired her to move out of Goodneighbor and begin working with Nick to stop crime.

♢ Travis 'Lonely' Miles is FTM.

♢ Kent Connolly is related to Eddie Winter.

♢ Fahrenheit's real name is Lydia.

♢ Sheng and Donny Kowalski are brothers. Sheng moved to Diamond City when their dad died and unknowingly misspelt his last name on the registration forms. Donny didn't want to leave the waterfront.

♢ The Vault-tec Rep is named ‘James Robert Smith’ and goes by Jim, Jimmy, and Jim Bob.

♢ Magnolia knows she's a synth. She already had a talent and passion for singing, and didn't want to risk a memory alteration changing that, so she just got the facechange and stays low-key. It's an additional reason to why she won't date, other than being married to her work.

♢ The two Minutemen who died at Concord were named Charles and Alice. (These were Preston's friends, and the other MM in his group were named, so these guys get names too.)

♢ As the Minutemen rebuild and Blake Abernathy is able to get farmhands to help him out, Lucy joins up with the Minutemen like she had wanted, to help stop other families suffering like hers did.

♢ Jake Finch also joins up with the Minutemen officially, taking his fathers flaming sword with his blessing this time.

I made this pattern in brown yarn before, and it’s quite nice when it’s finished.
