literally the most protective mama bear !! she's always holding your hand , making sure you're never too far from her. like vi she's not afraid to fight for you literally and if you ever stray too far she'll have all her typical goons on the case. she'd put you on a kiddo leash if she had to , being a firm mama especially when it comes to your safety. anyone who even looks at you funny gets a fist to the face, not to even mention those who dare say something rude.

she's not very physically affectionate, finding it difficult to let down her tough exterior but she's very verbally affectionate. she's always looking out for you, doing little things like blowing on your food to cool it down, "ah ah ah, careful now."

she's always chuckling at things you do which makes you feel all warm and cozy. she's gotta keep up her image of being the cold scary person most zaunites know her as but she's a real softie with you though she won't admit it to anyone else. anyone who tries to suggest this notion gets threatened with a fist but if you were to mention it she'd shake her head, chuckling. "got me there kid," she'll say ruffling your hair.

you call her mama bear due to her protectiveness. she'll call you her cub sometimes. most times, however, you're "kid".

she's not great at comforting you when you're upset but she does her very best. she'll let you cry or rant or whatever you need, giving you a gruff "i'm right here, kid." she'll pat your shoulder a bit awkwardly. "come on now, let it all out."

she's big on her coffee. you want to be just like mama and have some too ! you're always trying to sneak a sip from her mug. she never lets you... usually. one day she holds it out to you before you even ask. eagerly you take a big gulp only to spit it out immediately. "BLEGH!" she chuckles. "told ya you wouldn't like it, kid. how about some hot cocoa instead?" after that you don't ask for her coffee anymore. you always make a big stink when she's brewing it around you. how could it smell so good and taste so bad ?

mama sevika who carefully learns how to braid so she can do her cub's hair if you're a girl or even just a regressor with longer hair. with her prosthetic arm and bigger hands it takes a while for her to get the hang of it but she's super determined. she's so proud when she's done.

somedays she brings you into work, setting you up with some trinkets and little bits and bobs to play with on the floor next to her. if you get bored she'll explain her work to you or let you sit on her lap while she works. walking home together she holds your hand. "we had a good day today, huh kid?"

she's always making sure you drink enough water, getting you a clear bottle so she can see how much you've had. if you drink it all she's giving you a warm smile and a high five. she's quick to offer you praise. "nice job, cub." if you don't drink enough she's never angry but she gets worried about your health. "c'mon kid why don't you have a few more sips, we don't want you fainting now."

she's big on juice too. at mealtime she'll pour you a nice cool glass of apple juice. every other part of the day she'll push you to drink water but mealtime is juice time ! she's partial to apple herself but she'll buy whatever flavor you want though she may tease you good-naturedly if you're the type of kiddo who prefers orange juice over apple.

sevika who's typically a big smoker doing her best to cut back for you. she likes walking when it's cold enough for her to see her breath, she can almost pretend that it's smoke from a cigar. she tries chewing toothpicks but often gets cranky or moody when the cravings are worse.

sevika doesn't have tons of rules for you but she's very firm in the ones she does have, reminding you if you fuss that she's only trying to keep you safe. she doesn't really put up with fussing over her rules, she's very no nonsense. she'd never put a hand on you but she's not shy about giving you time outs or giving stern talking tos.

mama sevika who always carefully cuts up your food into tiny bites. she has you feed yourself unless you're extra tiny but she makes sure it's nice and easy for you to eat and that you won't choke. you do protest though when you find your spaghetti cut up because that means you can't swirl it on your fork.

The entire week had been exhausting. Midterms had pushed you to your limits, forcing you to be big for far too long. You had powered through, but Wanda saw the toll it took on you—the way your shoulders slumped, the way your usual bright energy dimmed, the way you barely had the space to slip into your small, safe mindset.

She wasn’t going to let that continue.

So on Friday morning, just before you rushed out the door for your last exam, Wanda pressed a kiss to your forehead and whispered, "Pack up all that stress, Malyshka. As soon as you're done today, we're leaving for the weekend."

You blinked up at her, confused. "Leaving?"

"Thank you Mama! I love it!!" You squealed excitedly as you ran to the front door with Wanda following suit to unlock it with the key she'd picked up.

Wanda chuckled as she watched you bounce on your feet, your excitement radiating through the crisp evening air. Seeing you like this—so carefree, so happy—made every second of planning worth it.

"You’re very welcome, sweetheart," she said warmly, unlocking the cabin door and pushing it open. "Now, let’s get inside before you get too chilly."

You hurried in ahead of her, gasping as you took in the cozy space. The cabin was perfect—warm wooden walls, a big plush couch with a soft blanket draped over it, and a fireplace ready to be lit. The scent of pine filled the air, and the soft glow of the lamps made everything feel safe.

Wanda set the bags down and shrugged off her coat, watching as you immediately kicked off your shoes and plopped onto the rug, hugging your new bag like it was your most prized possession.

"Alright, Malyshka," she cooed as she crouched beside you, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. "How about we get you in some cozy jammies, and then you can pick a movie while Mama makes us some dinner?"

You nodded eagerly, already unzipping your bag to pull out the pajamas Wanda packed for you—your favorite ones with Bluey and Bingo all over them. Wanda smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.

"Go change, baby, and then we’ll have the best, most relaxing weekend ever," she promised.

As you rummaged through the bag, your little hands pushing past soft pajamas and plush stuffies, your fingers brushed against something unfamiliar at the bottom. Your brow furrowed as you gripped it and pulled it out, turning it over in your hands.

It took you a second to process what you were holding.

And then you practically yelled in excitement.

A paci. Your paci. The one you’d been looking at for weeks, showing Wanda different designs with hopeful little looks, never really expecting her to get one for you. But here it was—beautifully decorated, with tiny sparkles and soft pastel colors that made your heart so happy.

Tears welled in your eyes before you could stop them, overwhelming emotion bubbling up inside of you. A soft sob escaped before you even knew you were crying.

Wanda was by your side in an instant, dropping to her knees and pulling you into her arms. "Oh, Malyshka," she cooed, rubbing your back gently. "What’s wrong, sweetheart?"

You shook your head against her chest, gripping onto her sweater like it was your lifeline. "Not sad," you sniffled, voice small. "Happy."

Wanda pulled back just enough to see your teary-eyed face, her heart swelling at your expression. She brushed her thumb under your eye, wiping away a stray tear before gently taking the paci from your trembling fingers.

"You love it, don’t you, baby?" she murmured, her voice so soft and full of warmth.

You nodded frantically, a few more tears spilling over. "So much, Mama."

Wanda smiled, pressing a kiss to your forehead before carefully bringing the paci to your lips. "Here, sweetheart. Go ahead."

You let her guide it into your mouth, immediately sucking on it as another wave of warmth and comfort washed over you. Your body relaxed completely, and Wanda pulled you close again, rocking you gently.

"There we go, Malyshka," she whispered, running her fingers through your hair. "Mama’s got you. Always."

The TV played cartoons at a low volume, your favorite characters moving across the screen, but you were more focused on the steady rhythm of Wanda’s fingers rubbing up and down your back.

She shifted slightly, pressing a kiss to the top of your head before her voice came, soft and full of love. “You worked so hard this week, Malyshka,” she murmured, her hand never stopping its soothing motions. “Mama is so, so proud of you.”

You let out a little hum around your paci, eyes already half-lidded from how relaxed you felt.

“You studied, you took all your tests, and you didn’t give up even when things got overwhelming,” she continued, her voice gentle and warm. “And now, you don’t have to be big, not even a little bit. Mama’s going to make sure there’s always time for you to be little, sweetheart.”

Your fingers curled into her sweater, a deep warmth spreading through your chest at her words. You blinked up at her sleepily, sucking gently on your paci as you processed everything she was saying.

agatha had left for the road, telling you she'd be right back the next day. but she had been gone for a week, and it was the longest week of your life. you've been sleeping in agatha's bed ever since she left, trying your best not to drench her pillows with your tears.

you held your stuffie and sighed, wishing for your mama to come back. thinking of agatha leaving you forever or the thought of her being dead made you tear up. you buried your face in your blankie, sobbing quietly. looks like this will be the 7th night of you crying yourself to sleep.

you heard a slam sound from the basement that made you jump. your mama would always say that "it's just the house creaking." you laid your head back on your blankie, eventually dozing off.

"bunny?" you heard a voice that sounded like agatha, but you thought you were just dreaming. then, you heard the bedroom door creak open more. you opened your eyes, seeing your mama walk in the room.

"missed you." you lifted your head out of agatha's shoulder, playing with her hair. "mama missed you more, bunny. i missed your smell." she kissed your neck, taking in your baby smell. "and i missed hearing this little rattle." she picked up your giraffe rattle, shaking it a little to make you giggle.

"i missed those cute little paci noises." she smiled, looking down at your paci that was clipped to your shirt. "i just missed my little baby. i love you, bunny."

little!callie headcanons 🤍

tends to regress between 2 and 4.

prefers to hide her regression. she gets embarrassed if she regresses around others and she gets really scared if someone knows she's little.

callie doesn't really have an official cg, she refuses to have one. she feels like a burden whenever she regresses, it wouldn't be good for her. HOWEVER shauna is aware of her regression and accepts it, so usually cal will go to her mama for comfort. jeff is also aware, but he doesn't really understand it at all. shauna tried explaining it to him, didn't help much. he's just glad to have his little girl back sometimes.

callie tends to regress when she's high. she tries so hard not to, but when it hits she'll immediately feel like a little baby.

little cal attaches to her dada like a leech. usually mama's home when she slips, but if dada's home she'll toddle to him on the couch and demand cuddles and tv time. if he isn't home, callie will probably hang around with a colouring book or toys by the door until dada gets home from work.

huge fan of strawberry shortcake and littlest pet shop. she has an entire army of lps cats that she keeps in her room, all with various accessories like earrings, necklaces and bows. they all have names, nobody knows how she keeps track.

she takes mr. schwoozums EVERYWHERE at home. he never leaves her arms, and if he does, she will throw a fit.

LOVES playing in the backyard. shauna doesn't really like spending time outside, so she leaves that to jeff unless callie specifically asks for her. jeff doesn't mind though, he'll blow bubbles with her or do chalk drawings with her all she wants. he tried to get her into catch, but she got hit in the face with the ball once and now shauna doesn't allow it.

lottie living at shauna's was actually good for callie. things were getting weird with her parents, and lottie naturally felt like a caregiver. lottie also understood regression very well since she was so familiar with it, so it was easy for her to naturally be more parental toward callie. usually callie would end up regressing when she was with lottie, didn't matter where or when, callie just felt really little around her.

she loves auntie van !! it's so rare that she sees her just because of how complicated things are, but if van happens to be around, callie rushes to show her random toys that she has. she also colours colouring pages for her sometimes and BEGS to watch movies with her. she says it's more fun watching them with her and that mama and dada ask too many weird questions about the movies. she'd prefer to hear little fun facts from van.

big fan of colouring. she's got a million books and the big 64 pack of crayons with the built in sharpener.

a snacky little. LOVESSSS her little treats, you'll always catch her w a juice box, fruit snacks and goldfish. she yearns for the day they bring back the fruit nuggets that got discontinued when she was a kid, she loved those.

❤︎ - since jackie was forced to mask for nearly her entire life, shauna encourages her to unmask as much as possible, and although at times it can be hard because she's so conditioned to act a certain way, she does enjoy being able to turn her mind off and fully unmask.

❤︎ - part of unmasking includes showing more negative emotions. as a result, jackie is very open when she's not happy. poor baby has days where she'll have meltdown after meltdown because her mind can't relax :( despite this, shauna does a great job at helping her regulate herself.

❤︎ - jackie is so very talkative when she's itty, mostly as a form of stimming. whether it's random sentences or nonsensical babbling, she just always wants to talk. she loves when shauna replies to her, even fussing if shauna doesn't say anything to her. since shauna can't exactly understand what she's trying to say, she'll reply with things like "oh really? is that right jax?" or "i can't believe that!" just to please her baby.

Booting up her laptop, she planned to mindlessly browse until something caught her eye—a coping ritual she'd perfected over the past few months. But then… there it was. In all its weirdly pink, sparkly glory.

"Super Love Crisis: Teen Team Edition!": An immersive dating sim where YOU romance the boys of the Teen Team!

Her eyes narrowed. “The hell?”

Curiosity outweighed pride. She clicked. She downloaded. She booted it up.

Two hours later, Eve sat cross-legged on her bed, eyes locked onto the screen. Her character was currently in a café, sipping a cappuccino across from a brooding artistic still-frame version of Robot.

Robot: “It is not logical for me to express emotions… but when I am with you, I feel a variable increase in serotonin levels.”

Eve blinked. “Did… did they actually make that hot? Am I okay???”

She clicked again, giggling as Robot awkwardly offered her a cube-shaped rose he had “synthesized using lab-grown petals.” Then she gasped—her stats jumped. +10 Intelligence and +5 Romance. Her character blushed.

“Oh my God.”

It didn’t stop there. Rex’s route was chaotic in the best way, filled with shirtless training montages, stupid puns, and misguided attempts to woo her with fireworks that spelled out “U HOT.” And Invincible?

Invincible’s route had the most heart—sincere late-night conversations, shared trauma bonding, and awkward first kisses under digital starlight.

By 3AM, Eve had unlocked three CGs, two bonus scenes, and was heavily invested in a love triangle between her, Rex, and Mark.

But the question clawed at her brain: Who the hell made this?!

Eve flew to the college dorms with one mission: find the masterminds. After some casual stalking—er, investigating—she cornered William and Amber in the common room, where they were laughing over a laptop.

William jumped when she appeared behind them. “Jesus! Eve! Don’t do that!”

“You made it, didn’t you?” Eve pointed accusingly at the screen. “Super Love Crisis: Teen Team Edition. That was you two.”

Amber blinked. “...You played it?”

Eve crossed her arms. “I lived it.”

William grinned. “Good, because I wrote Robot’s route.”

“And I did Rex,” Amber added. “But Mark helped us with his own dialogue. We figured, who knows Mark better than Mark?”

Eve’s mouth dropped open. “Mark knows about this?!”

William snorted. “He found it hilarious. We even recorded him saying ‘Did someone say cuddling?’ for the bonus voice pack.”

Eve flushed. “Okay. Okay. This is insane. And illegal. And probably violating at least seven IP laws.”

Amber smirked. “But did you like it?”

Eve hesitated.

“…I romanced all three of them and can’t decide who I love more.”

♦️ I think she'd make you animal balloons!! She's not good at most designs, but she can make a pretty good doggie!

🦇 She's also great at impressions, as shown in the animated show when she works a million jobs to capture the Bat

♦️ ^ This makes her great for pretend play! A cop? A librarian? She's fully into the role!

🦇 For more modern Harley, lots and lots of crafts!

♦️ Finger paint? Spray paint! Chalk on the sidewalk? All the above is perfect!

🦇 She gives me lollipop vibes, her and Batman both carry them for when you feel small, especially if you regress in public (plus Batman canonly keeps lollipops in his belt for kids, so why not?)

I won't lie, I actually really like their dynamic. I normally don't like Harley to be a BatFam character, but they have a really fun big brother-little sister dynamic going on in some comics, and a bit in the show

To me she seems like she'd get restless- less so of wanting to run around and burn her energy, but more so wanting to atleast do something to occupy herself— literally just look at the Ai No Material event. That's her struggle </3

<𝟑 Staring off with her age range! I see Haruka regressing to the 2-5 age range normally, but for this request I kinda think I’m gonna widen it to 1-6, it just feels fitting to widen her usual age range here? Gives more possibilities to the doing things ideas but also it makes her more upset when she regresses younger than she wants to and. I quite enjoy making characters upset. They bring me joy ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و The creatures… I must run experiments on them. Experiments of… The horrors

<𝟑 Starting off with Haruka using a pacifier while big. I think this is genuinely the calmest way she can possibly regress. Like it starts off genuinely just being oh ok this is nice. Then after a while she’s feeling kinda fuzzy but not enough that it affects her ability to study so she’d just like oh ok that’s cool. But if she doesn’t take a break she will fully slip. She will not be able to focus on work. She will be beyond frustrated with absolutely no way to express this frustration. But if she’s responsible and steps away for a bit when she starts feeling fuzzy she’d be fine to use her pacifier while studying! I love the use of agere items while not in headspace… Don’t see enough of it so I give it to Haruka

<𝟑 INTERACTIVE PICTURE BOOKS YES. She absolutely loves the ones with like. Textures? Touch and feel books I think they’re called! Haruka is one of the most autistic coded characters in the game honestly, so I think she’d have a lot of sensory issues. However when the sensory input is controlled it’s a good way to experiment! She can test how it feels and slowly get herself to be ok with it! For example the ones with scales can be yucky feeling, but knowing she doesn’t have to touch it makes her more open minded!

<𝟑 She has so much energy, but she struggles with traditional play a lot so just running around doesn’t really feel right to her. Her caregiver can coax her into playing tag! But it takes a lot of coaxing… Mostly I think she’d like simple games! Things like tic tac toe, dots and boxes, or even I spy if she’s on her own! It’s still playing and it still burns energy, but in a way that works for her! Plus she definitely tries to do work even while she’s regressed, which her caregiver obviously won’t allow because this girl doesn’t know how to take breaks

<𝟑 She gets sooooo frustrated and fussy when she drops into babyspace. It makes her completely unable to talk (She’s nonverbal most of the time anyway but she likes knowing that she could talk if she needs to), her motor control is incredibly weakened (Barely able to walk on her own), and she can’t even think right! It’s just so frustrating because she wants to do things and be productive but she can’t just because she slipped extra young! Definitely thinks that if she was like 4 instead of 2 her caregivers would let her do work

<𝟑 Her caregiver absolutely must include her in everything, not because she gets upset and feels left out, it’s just so cute how she lights up when they let her do things! It can be something as simple as “Hold this bottle that’s actually yours for me ok?” And she’s like oh I am so helpful! Go me. They trust me to help! She feels like the master bottle holder. This method can also talk her into holding a comfort item close when she’s trying to reject comfort. She’s totally not holding it because it helps no, just because her caregiver asked her to! That’s it

<𝟑 I think Haruka would be mostly nonverbal, talking just feels kinda unnecessary and yucky for her. However if her caregiver asks for her opinion? If they want to hear what she thinks? It’s hard to get her to stop. Her voice is really small and quiet but her eyes light up and she’s so happy to babble away! I’m imaging Haruka feeling approximately 5 just spouting off every single penguin fact that she knows. And she knows. A lot-

<𝟑 I think Haruka needs balance, it’s important for her to not only take breaks by regressing, but also in her normal headspace! Her break days are spent relaxing in whatever way she’d like, then to wrap it up she’ll go to her favorite penguin cafe! It’s almost guaranteed to make her feel really tiny, and then her caregiver takes her home for her tiny part of the day off! Gentle movies and coloring, warm bubble bath, and cuddles to sleep! It’s the best day ever. She truly enjoys her days off! She just gets so wrapped up in things she doesn’t realize how long it’s been since she’s had one

<𝟑 Haruka tries to schedule her regression, that feels productive and she can work around it! But if she’s actively thinking about regressing she struggles to properly drop, it just feels so forced… Even if her caregiver babies her, it feels forced if she has to ask them to help her. Especially if she’s not stressed about anything really, she’s just doing it because she’s scheduled to. And she can’t just blow money on a fancy penguin cafe every single time she wants to regress, idols make money sure but that can get expensive quick

A redraw of the group photo from the Nether hopping arc! I wanted to get in more practice drawing the characters in this specific style, and also see if I can fix some issues with their designs that were bugging me. I... mostly succeeded on that 2nd part?

Some notes regarding these CG designs (plus some headcannons):

-Red's outfit frustrates me, because I like it a lot without colour, but once I start trying to add colour it always ends up looking off. The current colour scheme is fine, I guess, but I'm a little torn on whether or not the colours suit Red, and not making him too close to the other colour schemes present (which I like a lot more).

-Red's outfits will often have animal motifs designed into them. Usually cat, rabbit, or pig, but they have all sorts of animal clothes.

-Though it can't usually be seen due to not drawing them with their hood up often, Red's hoodie has cat ears. The reason I don't usually draw the hood up is because I like drawing his hair too much.

-Red will alternate between gloves, bracelets, and, post AVM season 3, a yellow headband and armbands.

-Under the hoodie Red will usually wear a tank top or crop top. Though it can't be seen in this photo, the arm holes for the hoodie are incredibly large, so Red's top can sometimes be seen when lifting her arms or looking at them from the side.

-In general, I do like Yellow's outfit. It suits her personality well and has some good colours. My primary concern is that it may be too... plain? Stereotypical? Basically, that it's too stereotypically 'nerd' to be interesting. But I can't come up with anything better, so this'll be her default outfit for now.

-What I do like on Yellow, however, is the hair. I think the short hair with a singular braid is really cool. A nice mix of neat and practical and stylish, especially mixed with the glasses.

-One issue I do have is with the boots. All the shoes in general, actually. They all look so samey, especially Blue and Yellow's boots. This is a pretty simplistic style I'm drawing in though, and I don't want to make anything too complicated. Why do shoes have to be so stupid?

-I used to have the same problem with Second's outfit as with Red's - particularly, with their shirt. However, that's when I realized that Second is an artist, and can change their shirt design at the drop of a hat. So, now the shirt has a different drawing on it regularly. Second will try to use all their friends colours in their designs. If they leave a person off, it usually means their either consciously or subconsciously upset with that stick. If they don't draw on their shirt at all and leave it blank, it usually means something's up with them.

-I also added leggings from the previous design. It felt right.

-Both Second and Chosen dislike shoes. I will not elaborate, but Second's tolerance is better than Chosen. He can handle it for short periods of time, but is usually grumpy and will kick them off first chance he gets.

-I like to imagine Second using her large, poofy hair to put things in, the same way she'd put things in their inventory. I also like to imagine Green is low-key horrified by this, while Red, Blue, and Yellow will also use her fluff to store things. Sometimes without Second even noticing.

-Second carries the belt with them in their hair in their inventory and will put it on before fighting/platforming so their oversized shirt doesn't get in their way. Otherwise they prefer to have their clothing loose and flowing.

-Everyone has a multicoloured accessory. Second was the one who started it with his bracelet, then the others wanted some too so Second drew up more for the gang. An anklet for Red, an armband for Yellow, a belt for Green, and a neckerchief for Blue.

-Green may just have the best outfit of everyone here. It's sleek, it's cool, it suits them, and it's easy to fight in (with an easily striped jacket if need be). I also added a lil choker.

-I don't think I expressed this before, but I didn't like Green's previous hairstyle. Something about it irked me, but I couldn't place what at the time. Now I know it'd needed more on top, haha.

-Blue's outfits tend to be more on the practical side, since they do a lot of manual labour, but with bits of fun and whimsy added in. After AvM Season 3, she trades her funny socks for long funny socks and fun stockings.

-The original intent was for everyone to have a different type of hair, but Blue's and Yellow's ended up a lot more similar than I'd hope. The idea was for Blue to have really thick hair, but it's hard to tell. Might think of something else later.

-Anyone who wants something different can go to Second and ask. They all have their own things they like, but they're all willing to try almost anything, with very little exception.

Feel free to let me know your thoughts. I think I really like these character designs I came up with. :)

Gonna be controversial real quick

Mikan Tsumiki is not as bad as the fandom makes her out to be and im tired of pretending she is

Before I get interrogated or dismissed I'm talking more potential than anything but also the base character and how she was set up and what she could've been

My biggest problem is when people just go "she's just a fan service character!!!!!!" First off... ok she is the main fan service victim... you're not wrong... but I also think reducing her to just that is really reductive

First off I wanna talk about her design. I've seen a LOT of hate towards her design and it's not perfect but also I don't think its bad I'd argue it's a bit above average actually

Can't remember who said it and also it was a while ago but during a redesign they said she'd keep her hair up and away so she's not reminded of her trauma through bullying (Bullies cut her hair hence the uneven hair cuts), and personally I think that's a huge misread of her character. (If anyone knows who I'm referencing this is not shade or hate just the example I think is easiest to use for my character analysis!)

Mikan is an extreme case of a fawning abuse victim. She's been HEAVILY abused like to the point if she was a real person I'd actively go into shock hearing about it. I should also say though I don't think she's fawning in the traditional sense more so in the sense she can not stand to be ignored. Any attention is better than none. During her breakdown in trial 3 she's actively begging for forgiveness and in her panic talk action says "please draw on me" which just shows (to me at least) that shes willing to under go harassment and basically mental torture to keep people from disregarding her. I do think part of it though is traditional fawning.

Anyways that's all to say I don't think a character who has gone through so much and is such a people pleaser to the degree she's actively ASKING people to torment her would go through the trouble of hiding the results of it. Bandages could be a counter point though I'd count that as more of a health issue (probably cigarette burns or something she would give medical attention to since we do know she would treat herself which is how she became so good at nurse work). Out of anything I think Mikan has become almost oblivious to how awful the things she's gone through are since she can actively talk about it in a pretty casual way which is pretty standard for a lot of trauma Survivors although mikan is an extreme case. Which is to say i think she'd look at her burns, chopped hair, etc and kind of just see it like we'd see our closet and not really derive any pain from it (my personal take I do have other ideas but this is long and I can't write a thesis omg)

I don't have enough knowledge on nursing dress code in Japan to comment on her actual clothes though. In the states scrubs are common place but I know different countries have different standards.

A lot of redesigns I've seen also take great lengths to cover up any sort of skin mikan shows which 1. Yikes purity culture and 2. Showing skin is not inherently sexual. I mean. Danganronpa team are freaks for all the CG's they did of her and I get it makes sense for her character but they could've done something way more appropriate since the characters have the minds of when they were teens and it's all weird. (And when I say it makes sense for her character yeah she wants attention and whatever but they did not have to make it THAT. Have her like fall in a mop bucket or something that's embarrassing she's an SA victim too omfg)

Anyways moving on from her design I think dumbing her down to fanservice is also missing what she had the opportunity to be. Because on the face of it sure she went through trauma and is now a meek paranoid timid girl which is a weird trope men like, BUT it doesn't end there because she starts showing a different side to her trauma that I feel like a lot of trauma representation doesn't get to into which is the cycle of abuse. She actively started being a nurse because she wanted to have people rely on her and be weaker than her. She's fawning but underneath it all she wants in a way revenge.

I also think that her arc in trial 3 was an actually really good pitch too. Mikan gaining her memories back and remembering junko remnants blah blah puts the final piece of the puzzle down. Mikan goes from being a door mat and meek and timid with an underlying want to be in control and be the person people have to rely on and to have power over these people, to starting to get more comfortable and sociable, before she's hit by the motive and completely nose dives into her worst self who's exploitative, cruel, and obsessive.

I think she's also the best candidate for the plot point they were revealing (one for what im talking about this paragraph and also just cause it shows how insane their memories must be to turn mikan into her despaie self) because mikan doesn't care about despair to her it's all about love. She finally found someone who "loves her unconditionally" and accepts her and all her flaws etc which we know isn't true based on DR3 but in her brainwashed state it is true. She's hit her lowest point where she's completely succumbed to the abuse and taken it as love and doesn't just have the subconscious want to be in control but is actively feeding that desire (from the small clip we see of her remnant self vs seiko)

Now this isn't to say all of this is explored perfectly or written well enough to give mikan the "good character" badge. I love danganronpa, but i think it kinda writes itself into a corner with having such a large cast. Some characters just don't get the time they should. My take is mostly based on what I see the creators were trying to do with her. That's also why I say she's not just a fan service character because when I look at her in the game I see the building blocks they just didn't finish the project. I think if they really fleshed out the character regression it'd be genuinely really good. I mean danganronpa is not a masterpiece by any means so it's also like would kodaka/team danganronpa be able to write that? Who knows! I also saw what they were trying to do though

Mikan is also id say? Arguably one of the most controversial characters? Which I'm not invalidating she's my favorite danganronpa character but I also play the game and im like.... ok was that necessary. I also just get annoyed at people disregarding her character and calling her just fan service. Which ironically is what creators do with fan service characters lol (I'm also not gonna say anyone's wrong for being uncomfortable with the fanservice they wrote her into tho it makes me uncomfortable)

I think mikan is a really interesting character not as she's shown in game but as a character stufy of trauma which I think is why I'm so drawn to her and all that

Also her execution is ass and I hate it
