not to actually dip my toes into avatar discourse tm tm but it does actually bother me when people argue that azula couldn’t have abused zuko because she’s younger than him, like……sure, age is a common factor in how much power someone has over someone so it’s probably more likely for older siblings to abuse their younger ones, but it’s still not impossible for a younger sibling to abuse their older sibling. i just feel like you can make your arguments without invalidating a dynamic that real people have actually experienced irl.
#before you yell at me. personally i think the dynamic between azula and zuko is in fact more complicated than just ‘she abused him’#and i think there are compelling arguments coming from that side of the debate#but this particular one puts a bad taste in my mouth and i felt like saying something about it hdugduvd#avatar the last airbender#azula#zuko#marshy speaks#(honestly my most controversial opinion about this is probably that honestly it doesn’t matter if azula abused zuko wrt to whether or not#she’s ‘redeemable’ bc like. even if she did. she was a child when she did it#a child under the influence of her abusive father#there’s every possibility for her to grow from those actions in a healthy and supportive environment#and even for them to end up with a good relationship at some point after everything#that’s just my two cents on the matter though lol)#ask to tag

POPS IN AND SHAKES YOU
BAMBI. you are the next one on my list to convert to a hsr / genshin papa enthusiast >:)
bambi…. do u have any thoughts abt hsr and genshin papas (twirling my hair as i type)
໒꒱ ‧₊˚ HONAKI STAR RAIL MEN AS DADS — VARIOUS HSR.
ft. jing yuan, blade, dan heng, aventurine x fem! reader (separate)
content. literally so much fluff u can consider ssfw (super sfw), BUT is kinda suggestive, established relationship (marriage), dan heng’s part is slightly il dan heng, lots of mentions of pregnancy, parental au, somewhat a headcannon w little blurbs in between !!!!, lots & lots of kisses, pet names used for reader, not proofread
notes. IM SO SRRY IT TOOK THIS LONG; hopefully i cooked/redeemed myself w this 😞🙏 made a specially for @neuvistar — maryse !! i also made the writing smaller bc i don’t want it to look longer (srry if it’s hard to read :’)) i doubt myself w this idk if it’s even good (i cut off half of the characters i was gonna write bc i honestly idk 😾 & i did some of them dirty IM SORRY) </3 but i actually do have thoughts, but i hate when i have smt in mind & i js can’t seem to write it down SHAKES YOU IN FRUSTRATION
JING YUAN — is literally father and daddy coded you cannot persuade me that he isn’t (i will throw hands at you) he’s super sweet and gentle with you before and after your pregnancy, he’ll actually probably treat you the same after you get your children — although maybe he’ll be more patient. overall he’s on the chiller dad side. personally, jing yuan would naturally know how to handle his children even when they’re a few hours after birth. he would cradle them with so much care and gentleness like your baby is made of fragile glass. but what’s to expect? he has yanqing to deal with in the first place.
JING YUAN — would be the man to kiss your forehead multiple times during pregnancy, he’ll actually transform into a male wife, he’ll also go as far as canceling all of his meetings and not give a damn about each one, even if you tried telling him to; he’s stick by your side like super glue. he’s SO reassuring. it’s a shame fu xuan had to deal with a man like him, he’ll never focus properly even if he went to work. all he has on his mind is you and his soon-to-be little versions of you and him.
“take it easy, love. i’ll be right by your side if you need me.”
JING YUAN — who would and will have two daughters, he’s such a girl dad i can see it. i feel like he wouldn’t (??) have twins, just like one child at a time, a very supportive dad. he could easily cheer up his daughters anytime, like when they trip, fall, scrap their knee, need help on homework, need assistance on changing, and so much more.
JING YUAN — who takes naps with his daughters anywhere, anytime. his daughters definitely inherited their father’s love for sleep (and his lazy personality), they enjoy sleeping just like their sleep deprived father. you’ll as often walk in on the three sleeping together — the children wrapped in jing yuan’s warm, muscular arms. unfortunately, you go a long way just to wake up your husband, what makes you think waking up your husband and two more lazy children that have the same ego as their father help?
“mommyy… 5 mor’…”
“mhm, what she said… just 5 more minutes, darling… how about you join us..?
JING YUAN — spoils his daughters. he doesn’t spoil them too much, or else they’ll grow up to be greedy, so he’ll spoil them just a right amount that they know how to behave properly when receiving something thoughtful. he cherishes the moments he gets to spend with you and the children together — he occasionally schedules times so he can get home at a specific time to spend with his family. eating dinner, playing games, and just enjoying his family. on rare occasions, his girls will wake up early and even come to your’s and jing yuan’s bedroom to wake you two up in the morning! leading to a huge cuddle session and cute babbling from your mix of you and jing yuan.
BLADE — is quite the dad, actually. he obviously won’t show it, but he’s in between being extremely nervous and extremely excited on being a dad. he’s not sure if it’ll be worth the shot even being a father, due to all of the trauma and greif he’s had in his life. but after he met you, he’s started to diminish his need to disappear. additionally, you’ll be there to reassure him.
BLADE — is a very good father. like before, he’s nervous, but he has soft spot for you — which means he has an even softer spot for his own children. he’s a girl dad; one daughter and i can see it. he takes REAL good care of her when she’s just minutes out the womb. just the way blade’s eyes softened so much and his mouth slight gaped can tell how blade sees his beautiful daughter. the man to tuck his girl’s stray hairs out of her face and kiss her face afterwards.
“she looks just like me..”
BLADE — who's so gentle with his daughter. despite being a wanted criminal who fights with much skill and discipline, it’s a true surprise to see him so vulnerable while using his rough hands to softly cradle his daughter who’s ten times smaller than him. he’ll let his daughter play with his bangs and long luscious hair, even if he has to brush it all over again. he doesn’t give a single care about his hair, as long as his daughter gets her entertainment. he’ll let her slap his face, squish his cheeks, bump his nose, whatever (he probably wouldn’t let them all slide). on some days, when blade’s not running around and escaping from soldiers, he lets his daughter go ALL out on him. the two will definitely play — dress up, dolls, tea party’s, and much, much more (but it’s not like he can say no).
BLADE — who unfortunately “becomes” a pretty princess once his daughter gets to work. neon clips, silky ribbons, fake makeup, pink hair ties, jewelry, everything. and when you witness it, it’s more than difficult to hold in your laugh.
“blade!… blade?-”
“don’t.”
BLADE — is a pretty accurate protective father, but sometimes, it’s not even his protectiveness that’s acting. just a small glance or look from him can scare any boy from staying near or close your daughter. you remind him constantly to give his daughter some freedom, but what’s he gonna do if he’s doing nothing — but staring at the boy? it’ll take time for him to accept a guy that your daughter actually really likes and wants to be with, but don’t worry, blade will be “kind” enough to do it for his daughter. but don’t expect him to accept a man so easily (and the man to accept a dad-in-law so… scary), he’ll definitely have them take a “trial” on something to be able to be his daughter’s lover. heads up, if any guy hurts his daughter in any way, physically, mentally, or emotionally, they better count their days.
DAN HENG — is literally the sweetest dad to ever have, it’s tooth rottening. he’s like the entire package. he’ll make sure his children get a good education, live in a good environment, provide them with a decent life style, and hope they grow up to be amazing people (i’m crying rn). but before actually receiving you giving birth to your child, dan heng was the biggest nervous thing ever. he never thought to ever have a child of his own, and doubt how he’ll have to work it out. but you reassured him, and true to your words, he was.
DAN HENG — stays by your side almost all the time during your pregnancy. even when he had lots of trailblazing with the crew, he insisted to stay back to care for you and his future children. fortunately, he was allowed to by himeko and welt — unfortunately for march 7th and the trailblazer, they were missing a member to provoke. he can and will do everything and anything for you; the whole princess treatment. need water? right on top of your bed stand. need a pillow? he’s already rushing for a spare one. need something to eat? he’s already provided it (breakfast in bed guys). don’t forget the cuddles on the side, he’ll provide that anytime. his cuddles are literally so warm it warms up your body in the process, he’s like your personal heater. dan heng will definitely rub soothing circles on the belly — he knows it gets difficult to be a mother (not by experience guys get it out of your head), so he hopes all his acts of service helps you.
“shhh… take it easy love.”
DAN HENG — would have 2 children, a son and a daughter. unless it’s il dan heng, then that’s something else. i’d say the son is the oldest, although i don’t exactly 100% see it. there will be tears when he gets to see his very first child, holding them like it’s like his very last chance of living. he’ll immediately kiss your forehead after you’ve given birth to your and his’ child, promising to care for your son (and future daughter) ‘till the day he dies. he’ll also be by your side when your in the process of delivering your child. rubbing circles on your hands, lightly hushing and kissing you, intertwining hands, and saying the most supportive and loving words ever. and you maybe even cried during it because you can’t believe to have such an amazing husband like dan heng by your side (i’m crying again). additionally, the way his heart and eyes melted when you send him a small smile and slowly closed your eyes to rest.
DAN HENG — who like blade, would let his children play with his hair. sometimes, he’d transform into his vidyadhara and let his children play with his long hair; clipping clips, tying his hair, fashioning it, etc. i guess the son wouldn’t be so into that, but he’ll help his sister dress up their father. you melt whenever you happen to see your little toddlers play and try to chase after their father’s dragon tail. careful not to have them trip or fall, dan heng enjoys teaseing them and having them run after his tail — like a puppy, hoping that they manage to catch his tail and play atop it. i also can’t help but think of the thought dan heng would have his tail “turn” into a slide for his little children! they would just slide down and run back to their father for another round until they’re exhausted.
“hehe... again! again!”
“alright, you can slide some more, but then it’s gonna be your nap time.”
“ok, daddy!”
DAN HENG — who lovingly tucks his kids in their bed or crib when it’s their nap time, or it’s their bedtime. it’s such a heartwarming scene to witness, it could easily melt even the coldest of hearts. i think dan heng would sing them lullabies, but occasionally when he feels like it’s time for them understand the meanings of his songs. dan heng slightly blushes when he sees you in the doorway, flustering that you got to see how vulnerable he is, but that’s not a bother.
AVENTURINE — is one of the funnest and dedicated dads. he just loves his children so much, even if he has a side job, he always manages to make time for them and you. would definitely cry tears of joy and happiness when he receives them, stroking their small heads and holding them so tenderly. he loves you so much for giving him his children; he'd babble on forever about how you're such an amazing wife for working so hard for him and you, probable crying while saying all those heartwarming things. he's more than grateful to have his little children.
AVENTURINE — is such an AMAZING dad and supporter oh my goodness. he's so caring when you're a few months and/or weeks pregnant. maybe he becomes a male-wife (??), that's very visible in my brain. for awhile, he would take a break on going to the casino — to stay home and care for you. would easily decline any offer from any opponents that want to gamble. you would sometimes just wake up in the morning and hear his conversations to somebody about some business.
"no... im good... listen, for the last time, im not. please and thank you." hangs up.
"oh! mornin' babe. huh? — oh, its nothing, just some brat."
AVENTURINE — is a girl dad, but i feel like he would have one son and two daughters. he would love them all equally and take care of them so much; giving them a childhood he never managed to have. aventurine i guess i pretty known for being quite a guy, but his kids would be the sweetest ever — which he said was inherited by you. but just like their dad, they have another side (😈), they can be SO troublesome and little maniacs if they want to.
AVENTURINE — who gets tackled to the ground whenever he gets home from work by his children. it’s so cute and entertaining to see him get beaten to the ground by kids so much younger than him. they would just tackle his — grabbing his hat and coat and wearing them themselves ITS SO CUTE. additionally, i see aventurine taking the three bundles of joy to his gambling games and have them like sit on his lap and let them experience it. and also watching their dad ‘win’, is what he said. but after a couple weeks of their visits, aventurine eventually had to limit their visits because they kept exposing his cards; throwing them, playing with them, shouting out his cards, etc.
“daddy has only two more blue cards!”
“and one yellow!”
“oh! hehe… don’t shout out, love, it’s rude.”
AVENTURINE — who does the weirdest things with his kids. he would one hundred percent (sorry not sorry) dab up his son and teaches him the weirdest shit ever. like it’s kinda not surprising at all. he would also let his daughter play around with his necessary stuff. many of his other stuff needs to been hidden well, because you know, his kids are pretty curious.

im not that big on harry potter anymore but I could go on for hours about snape and how much he is not redeemable
like fr people want to milk some nuance out of harry potter so badly they refused to see how NOT misunderstood snape was
bro was petty as hell for living the rest of his life after that rejection as a big dramatic cunt
like sure man, I too if I had the chance might occasionally bully a child, in good fun, as a teacher
and sure, being dramatic? god given right to be dramatic when the time calls for it honestly
but man's lived every second of every day that way, being as heinous as he could be to literally everyone
man's was a horrible teacher too, you could argue he was a great potion maker or something because of the book he wrote as a teenager, but he didnt teach any of the stuff he wrote in that book, he taught from other peoples books, plus this man spent so much time insulting those kids abilities i think he forgot to actually do more then read out whatever book he picked
like the only kids who succeed in his class are people who do way too much extra work (hermoine) and the few Slytherin kids that he legitimately private tutors
also neville having snape as his worst fear before all the war stuff is crazy because genuinely how much did you harrass this kid
also id like to say that fact that he was bullied by the marauder's is iirrelevant, I too would bully a fellow student if they went around hate speeching half-blood kids when they themselves are a half-blood
and ik he did because not only is it implied by remus and sirius in prisonor of azkaban, but he calls lily a mudblood so casually and then only apologizes bcs he has a crush on her
also he had originally genuinely joined up with the death eaters without the intention to spy so i dont wanna hear that he isnt a wizard racist bcs he so was
even though there is that thing where jk rowling said he only joined bcs he thought it would impress lily, but genuinely i think she was just trying to feed the sympathizers to back up her own half assed redemption attempt because yeah, i dont like snape's personallity but he couldnt have been a complete idiot,
who is stupid enough they join a group known for, and based on the belief that muggles and mudbloods should all be killed off, because they want to impress a half-blood girl?
imagine joining the kkk and becoming like a high ranking member of it bcs you want to impress a black girl so she'll date you💀💀💀
anyways i realize i said i wasnt that into harry potter in the begginning of this and then wrote all this but genuinely people who sympathize with snape are dumb
also last bit
cunty snape edits as a joke > cunty snape edits bcs you simpathize
sad snape edits of him burned > sad snape edits bcs you simpathize
simping over Alan Rickman > simping over snape

Lol another dumb take on reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/CharacterRant/s/ER8SmBToSm
WOW! There are so many things to unpack here...
"Iroh, the most-" Iroh!? IROH!? THE Iroh!? The "redeemed" warlord that only gave a fuck about being a warlord after it affected him personally? That Iroh? The Iroh that left a child to bare the weight of a nation just bc he, the mature responsible adult, wanted to sit on his ass instead of being mature and responsible? THAT Iroh? It seems awful like both those actions appear to be those of a selfish and unempathetic person. And let's not forget that even after his "redemption" he assaulted June. So how exactly is he the most understanding and kind person in the show, exactly?
Would you like to know who actually is the most understanding and kind person in the show? AANG.
The boy who found it in himself to forgive and learn to have affection for the dude that chased him around the world and almost hurt/killed him and his friends multiple times. The boy who found it in himself to forgive the nation that genocided his people enough to want to help them, teach them their old ways and bring them back to the light. The boy that found it in himself to spare Ozai, a sadistic, manipulative, abusive warlord that wanted to watch the world burn in an attempt to satisfy his narcissism. And may the record note that Iroh did not extended his own brother the same mercy. He believed Ozai needed to die, when Aang didn't. So Aang is more empathetic, understanding and kind that Iroh.
And do you know what Aang has to say about Azula?
That he believes in her ability to do good and be good. That he trusts her to do so. He could have had her executed. He didn't. He could have taken away her bending. He didn't. He could have said she's born evil and a bad egg. He didn't. He put in a good word for her. He said she did something good. That can be good. THAT'S what the actual most understanding and kind person in the whole franchise has to say about Azula.
"She smiles when-" So did everyone else and so does everyone ever alive when justice is served. Because for the audience, the event was unfair and traumatizing. But for the people of the Fire Nation it was justice. And it's only normal for people to be happy when justice is served. When a groomer goes to jail you don't think "oh, that poor groomer", you think "good, this piece of shit definitely deserved it". Similarly, in the Fire Nation, an imperialistic dictatorship, when someone disrespects their Firelord, which they worship as almost a god (if not more, bc we see them worship their Firelord more often than Agni), and that person gets punished they don't think "oh, that like boy", they think "good, this piece of shit definitely deserved it". That's not called "being a bad egg", that's called propaganda and borderline mass brainwashing.
"She mocks-" She's repeating what she heard from adults in her life. That's not being a bad egg, that's bad parenting.
"She tortures-" Not cannon in any way. We've heard that she threw bread at them. Not only was that told from Zuko's pov, who's known to be a biased narrator when it comes to Azula, but it's also not even that freaking bad. It's bread, when it hits the water it becomes soft. No one ever died because they got hit by a loaf of bread. And she doesn't burn them with.
"Her mother's comments-" Oh, you mean the "what is wrong with that child"? That comment? That comment that was thrown at a child after doing a very normal childlike thing? I used to to play execution with my Barbie dolls and beheading them by pulling off their heads and my least favourites would always be the ones that got executed. Kids break toys they don't value and/or like. Azula is not obligated to like or value a gift that wasn't for her. The doll was a gift for every little girl. It wasn't personal. It wasn't hers. She doesn't have to like or value it. She doesn't have to not break it. The only reason that she chose fire instead of execution is because she had fire handy. That comment Ursa made was absolutely not justified.
"She's never given an excuse-" Not only is this take proof that media literacy is dead, it's flat out anti-intellectualism. We see that Fire Nation schools brainwash kids by shoving propaganda in their faces and we know Azula went in a Fire Nation school. All that's left to do is put 2 and 2 together. It's 4. It's fucking 4. Azula was brainwashed in the Fire Nation school that she went to that brainwashes Fire Nation kids. Canon fact. Use your brain.
"Her vision of what she wants is twisted-" What, exactly, is twisted about wanting to be acknowledged by your family that is proud of you, being loved by your family that is supposed to love you anyway, and completing the mission you've been brainwashed into thinking is the right thing all your life? What is twisted about reaching expectations and having a happy family? I'll wait.
"We're supposed to sympathize with the spi- No, we're not. The spirit is very obviously a liar and a manipulator as we've seen throughout the whole damn comic. And it wants to eat her. The spirit is the villain of the story that has been continuously twisting reality to weaken Azula's ambition and will to fight back, so that it could kill her. By the end of the comic we're supposed to know that the spirit is a full of shit and we shouldn't trust what it says, since all it has said throughout the whole comic is lies. Not sympathize with it.
"Rationalizations of her behavior are believe yet unprovable and based on subtext." It's almost like she's not the main character. The show isn't going to take time diving into her background. They are going to only give us subtext and we have to use our critical thinking skills and come to a believable conclusion, as we do. Zuko loving Ursa isn't outright stated at the show at any point, but we know it's a fact because we see it in the way they interact. We know his mother matters to him because he thinks of her and misses her. That's subtext. And we know Azula is not to blame for the person she was bought up to be because Fire Nation schools canonically brainwash their students. That's subtext. You can't selectively decide that this subtext is enough to prove this point, but that subtext doesn't prove that point because it's not outright stated. That's called double standards.
"The show portrays her as being inherently evi-" The show? You mean the same show that didn't even portray the genocider, treacherous dictator (Sozin) and the abusive, manipulative dictator (Ozai) as inherently evil went out of its way to portray the manipulated, abused, brainwashed child as a bad egg? ...Sure. That's what happened.
"Mai and Ty Lee do the same stuff but are portrayed differ-" No, they are not. Mai is portrayed as somebody who abused the power they have over others, since she views ordering servants around as a fun activity, and as somebody who has no empathy towards their family, as she didn't hesitate to agree that her brother has less worth than a king. Ty Lee is portrayed as sadistic, since she's animated to smirk and sneer while taking down soldiers defending their homes. I think she even goes as far as to mock them at sons point, but take that with a pinch of salt. They are portrayed to be classist, sadistic, unempathetic people that only give a fuck about the select few and mystery everybody else. Y'all just refuse to see it because Ty Lee is cute and is constantly infantilized because of it and because Mai protected your lord and savior, Zuko, right after she was done being classist and unempathetic. They are not portrayed as better, you just go out of your way to portray Azula as worst.
"Even in LoK-" Azula is given Freudian Excuse. You just refuse to see it because, as opposed to Legend of Korra, the creators do not chew your food up and spit it in your mouth for you to swallow. You have to put the pieces of the puzzle together and make realization. Which can understandably be hard for people that have a brain the size of a peanut, like yourself.
"It feels weird for a show like Avatar to imply somebody was evil from birt-" It feels weird because it is weird and it is weird because it's something they would never do which is why they didn't do it. You literally just created this narrative inside of your head while understanding that it goes completely against the philosophy of the show. And now it's weird to you that it doesn't align with the show? Make it make sense.
This isn't asking for an Azula redemption arc (although "this fourteen-year-old who was acting under orders of a tyrannical fire lord can't be redeemed" seems incredibly harsh), this is just me wondering why the writers consistently, across mediums, refuse to suggest that she's even the slightest bit a product of her environment? But Zuko gets a pass for pretty much everything more or less? Alright then lol.
This is close to being the smartest thing you have said during this post. Unfortunately it is easy to notice that some of the creators just don't like Azula. That's it. That's the reason why. They don't like her and they don't want her to have a happy ending. So it's good that somebody else is riding this show now. Faith Erin Hicks, as we see from her comic, is not afraid to treat Azula as the victim she is, and is not afraid to lay the blame on the adults that failed her. As opposed to previous creators, she seems to be willing to apply the general philosophy of the show in Azula's character as well. Which is something she's able to do because Azula is not, in fact, inherently evil. She's a victim of abuse and a manipulated child that has done some very fucked up things but has all her life ahead of her to grow up and be better.
Give us a scene of Ozai molding her into the cruel person she is
Supporting and praising bad behavior is enabling it. A good parent would say "I understand that you were upset at feeling as though you were underestimated when you got efficient results, but it's important to keep your cool and respect your instructors since they have more experience than you. If you feel as though the inability of this instructor to stray from traditional paterns is holding you back, communicate that problem with me, and I'll find you a new teacher if it's necessary." Does Ozai do that? No. What does he do? Praise her. What will Azula do in response? Repeat the same behavior to receive praise again. What is that called? Nursing cruel/bad behavior.
Give us a scene of Azula being at least a normal child at some point.
Stealing sweets at a sleepover and recreating scenes from a movie/play with your sibling? I recall doing both those things as a child. We're talking about universal normal child experiences.
Don't vindicate her mother being cruel.
The narrative itself is not excusing Ursa. Azula herself goes to lengths to hold her accountable, actually. The only ones excusing Ursa's actions are Zuko, who's looking at her through rose colored glasses, because she's one of the first people to show him love, and he wants to sing the best of her, and the fandom, for the same exact reason.
Have Iroh say something slightly more insightful than "she's a crazy bitch leave her alone"
Personally, I don't value Iroh's opinion at all. I think he has to work through the issues that he obviously has with himself, instead of projecting those issues onto Azula, which is what he's doing. But since you care about his opinion so much, here's him saying Azula has the capability to find peace.
Here's an easy one: instead of smiling when Zuko got burnt, Azula looks visually horrified. That tiny, tiny change would've made her far more nuanced! It wouldn't be much, but not only would it make the fire lord's actions seem even worse, it shows us that deep down, she does--or at least, did--care! This is more in line with the show's themes and far more interesting than "she's just gonna be super evil hehe".
Here's the thing. Azula doesn't smile because she's just so "evil hehe". She's smiling because Zuko is receiving a just punishment for his actions. At least as far as she's concerned.
Think about it, in the Fire Nation they treat their King as a god. They pray/say an anthem/swear loyalty to the Firelord and the crown every single day. It should be needless to point out that nobody would question the actions of the Firelord. They would just assume that this is the correct course of action because this is what the Firelord is doing.
Azula not only is a subject of that Firelord but she is the daughter of her father. She was 11 when the Agni Kai. At that age, kids do not question their parents. The think things are right because the parents do it. If Dad is upset with Zuko, then Zuko must have done something wrong, because Dad can't be wrong, he's Dad, he's never wrong.
So both as his daughter and as his subject, Azula has been conditioned from the day she was born to think that he's always right. So when he decides to punish Zuko, that's just another instance where he's right. So why would Azula be upset with him for being right? Especially considering that if she were upset with him, it's possible that you would also receive a punishment for disagreeing with his methods.
So imagine you are Azula. You see your dad, who is always right, and is also your king, who is also always right do something. Anything. Do you think to yourself "Why would he do that? That's bad!" or do you think "He's right for doing what he does because he's always right."? She's under the impression that he's a just ruler and father, so why wouldn't she be satisfied at the sight of him rendering justice to the foolish subject that disobeyed? Especially when having a different opinion can result to being in danger?
Do we get anything from the answer to her personality being "bad egg"?
No, we don't. Which is why this isn't what they did. You just have a false idea of pretty much everything regarding Azula's character and how it was handled.
Thus proven.

Felipe Garzonas' fall and Jason Todd's analysis
Alright. So it's all about Jason Todd. But also Felipe Garzonas. If you know the plot of the issue skip the next paragraph bc it's just a summary.
If you don't know the issue, here's a quick summary. There is that guy, Felipe Garzonas, who is the titular diplomat's son. It gives him an immunity. He's a rapist and just a shit person. There is also that woman, her name's Gloria Stanson. She was a victim of Garzonas, and when nor Batman and Robin nor police were able to stop Garzonas from harrassing her, she hung herself. Jasonwent to confront Felipe, and when Batman arrived at the place, he saw him falling from the building and die. He asked Robin if he fell or was he pushed, and Jason just said he had to spook him and Felipe slipped. The panel's here:
And now let's think; what really makes sense for Jason? Would he push Felipe? I personally don't think so, however it's more like 70% for he didn't and 30% for he did. Because really, both makes sense if we take Robin we know and future Red Hood.
If he pushed
The thing about Jason is that his moral compass is in greys. The first time he's portrayed as not a blond copy-paste of Dick Grayson, he steals the tires from the Batmobile. In his eyes, he doesn't do anything bad. He does what he have to get by living on his own. He's not hurting anyone, not in a gang, 'no thug' as he put it. He diesn't feel guilty because in his eyes he didn't do anything wrong. He's around 12 at the time, and he's a child that saw some shit, lived through it, but was still innocent and with a big heart. As Robin, he saw a shit tone of worse things - murders, assaults, literally all the world have to offer. It would make sense his moral compass would become more crooked. He can recognise good and evil, just not in a way Batman does. He looks from the perspective of victims. He's able to empathised with them on basis of his own life expiriences. He's good, painfully so, but not in the way most recognises it. He thinks he does good, so it can't really make him a bad person. So if he was to push Garzonas, he would not feel guilt. He would see it as justice. Life for life, but without all the horrors Gloria had to went through before. He's also saving all the future victims Felipe would hurt. It does not make sense however, when we take it and also the rest of his personality and earlier appearances. If he didn't feel guilty, he would not try to hide what he did, even opposite, I think he would argue with Bruce on the righteusness of pushing him. He would not win, he would dug himself a grave (hah) with that argument, but he still would. He's a honest little guy. And let's say he did feel guilty - he would still not lie. He would tell Bruce what he did and cry himself dry.
If it was an accident
Jason didn't try to catch him. He was chilling on the balcony while Felipe was falling. He didn't push, but he also didn't save. In Batman's eyes, it's still one of the worst thing Jason could do, but Jason would not feel guilty. Jason belives that not everyone can be redeemed, and Felipe Garzonas, who commited horrible acts before without a plot armor like criminal insanity would be propably one of them. Especially when Jason's riding fresh on emotions from finding Gloria. There's a big possibility he would try to catch Felipe if he wasn't already riled up. If Felipe slipped, for Jason it would be justice given by the world. Also, if he didn't push, it makes Jason oh so more tragic. He didn't kill a man, but Bruce belived that he would even be able. Jason is a good human, and he's against killing. He wouldn't be Robin if he wasn't. And yet Bruce, his father, benches him for suspicion that he broke the most important rule. So he goes looking for someone who would belive in him no matter what - his blood mother. And when he comes back, and he sees the new Robin, that nothing changed, he needed to be that change. And he knew he couldn't ever trust Bruce. Because he always saw the worst in him.
So. Both of those also fit for Red Hood's whole agenda. If Jason push, his first kill would be one of the worst scum. It's known Jason hates the most rapists and people who hurt children. His first kill is one of them. The whole Gloria situation could be a thing that gave him hatered for that crimes, actually. If Jason didn't push Felipe, but also if he was numb to his death, it would be the first step to even start murdering people. No emotions toward death of who he deems unworthy to live, and who with their existence bring more bad than good. It would also make his first kill Egon in Lost Days, which is really fitting for his character in my opinion. Once again to his two most hated types of crime.
So, no matter what actually happened on that balcony, it is some sort of the beginning for Red Hood, and I mean both the killing and no acceptance policy for some specific crimes.
The whole issue also makes Jason more likeable in some aspects. It's 80', so the victim blaming is at it's peak. Most of people reading comics does not care about rape, and victims at all, actually. Unintentionally, Starlin gave us something the modern fandom loves about Jason. The reactions at Gloria's death and that at Felipes clearly shows what his priorities are, and it's the same as Red Hood - he cares about the weak and innocent and victims and mistreated. And it's kinda silly to put it here, but you know that scene from the end of Injustice 2? I'm a sucker for that. It kinda gives Spider-Man's vibes of I care for the little guy when the others get themselves into some wild intergalaxic shit.

LAST MOUTHWASHING POST I SWEAR. SRRY GUYS.
but the way the game shows Jimmy's lack of guilt for anya, INSTEAD caring more about the unborn child. he doesn't want to think about what he did, and no one is left to confront him on it. this is done very nicely visually, for example...
had to use jacksepticeye 4 this srry lol
jimmy is ACTIVELY blocking her out here!!!!! the med bay glitches her out and her face is hidden behind all the other employee IDs. he genuinely doesn't want to think about how much hes hurt her, but is shown to have much more guilt over the other crewmates. I can't get over him thinking more about the unborn child who would've likely died either way, given the lack of food and just the ships conditions overall. not that the child is any less deserving of life but would jimmy actually care for this child if it were born?
he never even listens to anya and constantly dismisses her feelings. when daisuke is injured, he goes and looks for mouthwash, even though anya explains that it wouldn't make a good disinfectant. as the player you might start off thinking that anya may be overreacting, because you don't know how much she's struggling. we then realise that her reactions are perfectly understandable. not to mention how he knew how to make that special cocktail that would MOST DEFINITELY 1. knock someone out and 2. ensure theyd still be fine when they woke back up. if yall r thinking what I'm thinking then this is incredibly fucked up
Also the message "our worst moments don't define us" reappearing is very interesting. esp considering that the player mostly sees anya through jimmys lense, who put her through the worst, and she's either only seen in thst context or ignored completely. jimmy caused the worst moments and yet that's all she'll be known for. not for her kindness or intelligence (notable because. she managed to even keep curly alive which is crazy.) it's likely they'll never ever be found there.
when talking to jimmy, she rephrased this to "I have to believe that our worst moments don't make us monsters, Jim." i wonder if this was her trying to justify that jimmy could be redeemable, or at least someone she can believe in. especially bc he's got so much more power over her
it's very important to acknowledge that what happened to anya was non-consensual — not just a case of jimmy being scared to be a father. anya was constantly being mistreated even before the crash occured. there is far more to that situation than just the pregnancy too, that i think curly was not quick enough at confronting jimmy with. i don't fully blame curly but his character seems like he wants to see the best in people. its interesting because when jimmy is in charge and curly needs help, jimmy is reckless and harsh. he still gets the cryo pod but at what cost???
this is so interesting to me so lmk if anyone actually cares or interpreted some parts differently lol Byebye

Checked out the last couple chapters of My Hero Academia bc i was curious how it ended
-I actually thought the chapter with Ochaco going to cry and Deku following her to comfort and telling her she's his hero and has been from the beginning and saying she's always put her needs before others but she deserves support too was EXTREMELY sweet. like awwww. such sweet kids. Especially when the whole class ran up to her and Tsuyu tackle hugged her what!!! i'm glad the manga still has that sweetness in it, despite all the other faults, I think it looks like it did carry through the importance of friendship and supporting each other here.
-Ochaco spearheading an effort to give kids counseling about their quirks and any mental health issues they might be having regarding them, expanding the hero role beyond just crime-fighting (with Momo and Tsuyu and Iida), is also actually incredibly sweet and in-character too. It's actually surprising to not see her get shafted, considering how incredibly shafted she was in the parts I watched
i can't believe Ochaco has a dead gf now (joking)
-did...did momo actually get a decent costume where she doesn't have to be walking fanservice in a way she's uncomfortable with at the literal last minute when we can't even fully see it?
she-she did didn't she. She gets sexualized to hell and back as a teen when it's super unsettling and gets to wear a not stupid looking outfit as an adult when it would be less so. I mean I'm glad I guess but the fact Horikoshi just decided to do that in her last couple panels where it doesn't matter anymore really speaks to having your cake and eating it too huh
-I am shocked Ochaco and Deku don't seem to have gotten together in the end when horikoshi was setting her as a love interest so hard. Though it might be because it really seemed like the last chapter was leaving things open for a sequel (we'll never be free) or maybe Horikoshi didn't want to upset any shippers, wise of him. But it lets me imagine she hooked up with Tsuyu. or maybe both her and momo (i guess iida's there too) who knows.
-I guess Deku lost his quirk again during the battle and then All Might gives him tech the tech girl came up (with Bakugou sponsoring it. i guess that's fine. as his penance) that i guess gives him the advantages of a quirk so it doesn't matter actually. I mean I have been wondering why he and others never just got to use tech to compensate so i guess that's fine, but the sacrifice he apparently made was seemingly meaningless lmao
-I like that MHA was apparently wasted all this time with the villains backstory and how they could be redeemed and how society had failed them then apparently just killed ALL of them at the end? how completely pointless, it's actually extremely funny.
-"Kirishima is popular with the male demographic" yeah i bet he is.
-:/ all the short haired girls have longer hair as adults while everyone else looks largely the same. wow convenient.
-did endeavor die? wait let me check.sigh of course he's alive, but i it appears dabi beat him up so bad he can't stand up on his own (good 4 u dabi) and he's retired i guess that's something. Even dabi is dying slowly horikoshi really could not let a single villain survive lmao
-I do not know why Deku needed to tells that kid that his quirk of creating little flying saucer disks could absolutely be useful as hero if he trains like...obviously it would be? That's a pretty good power? but i guess it's a sweet callback, and I also like that he's a teacher, I think he would be good at that.
-my mind would likely change if I read the nonsense leading up to this. but it wasn't that bad as a final chapter overall, though weirdly low key. definitely comes off as being as ambiguous as possible for the sake of a sequel. at least it wasn't one where we have to follow the child characters who are conveniently carbon copies of their parents. I have closure now.

Hi love,
Thanks for asking this so obviously this pertains to the S bros so that’s where I’m sticking w this. Not including Kino bc he’s not really involved in this whole S bride thing anyway.
-Liannelara
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
Prompt
Requests are open
Rules
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
Who is capable of falling in love with their S bride? (MTL) + how much they value their S bride?
Subaru—He’s very vulnerable and he’s with this woman 24/7 and if she’s nice to him/gives him attention he’s roped in. But would never admit it. It might just be puppy love even but he’d end up liking her weather or not he does anything about it.
Value: he’d value her if she was tolerable and likable in the sense that she didn’t bother him. If she was gentle He’d especially value that. On a scale of 1-10 it’s have to be a 6.
Reiji—this may come as a shock because he is very head strong and a perfectionist but he his capable and we see this in the game routes numerous times. Even if Reiji has a different way of expressing his care or love, when he loves he treats his partner very well. And it takes a while for him to gain feelings but it’s through all the trouble and pain that he’s caused you but it’s mostly through getting to know you emotionally that he is able to love. But feels quiet guilty.
Value: 8 or 9/10, if you bare his kids, your a respectable lady and you got it all down he’s appreciative that you’ve brought his kids into the world but what doesn’t give you 10/10 is that he’d doesn’t value nor care for you as a partner. He may see you as his wife and mother of his child but not as a romantic partner. If you don’t have redeeming qualities you are just worthless to him. 3/10 or lower.
Shu—gosh, he seems like he could but also might not. Either way he’s lazy about it. In the game routes he is seen to fall in love sometimes but I think it’s quiet dry. There’s not much to it and he doesn’t seem all that into it. He’s just there and it’s comfortable to him. I would say it’s a practical convient love not a deep love unlike Reiji.
Value: 5/10 not too bad because it’s free s3x. He is annoyed but also amused at the same time. Not interested to know much and doesn’t know half of what you do bc he’s doesn’t care. If you don’t bug him often you get the 5/10 you won’t get more because he wants little do with you and since your not annoying there’s a flip side to it.
Kanato—he loves women, and that can mean many different things. But as deranged he may be he isn’t as complicated as his other two brothers, well may be just as complicated—but differently! Though if it’s about love this changed his behavior and he may drop the psychotic behavior altogether especially if there was character development but it’s hard to say. But he seems like he’d have feelings even if they are not the healthiest, he’s more capable of loving and liking than the other two.
Value: you could have 0/10 where he’s just going to m*rder you. Or you could have 11/10 were he is opposed and will not give you to others and protects you at all costs. There is no inbetween.
Laito—he’s to damaged to be capable of understanding his feelings. So while he may feel something he can’t distinguish it nor how he feels about it. All he knows is that it’s different and he’s not going to go further than that. I also believe he has a lot of trust issues with women so loving one is just not practical needless to say he’s a damn mess.
Value: 3/10 if not 0/10. You are like every other woman, why should you be different? Amuse him but also don’t get involved and he won’t be mad, but it doesn’t mean he likes not trust you at all so 3/10. You are merely convenience.
Ayato—he doesn’t really love and I got to say if he did he’s not sure what is going on. He’s quiet selfish and might confusion attraction and convince as love. In fact, he thinks that his S bride loves him so therefore he has a mutal feeling of love for her. He’s okay with having her love him but not that he loves her. He’s too narcissistic to fall in love.
Value: 3/10 or 7/10. 3 is your stubborn and boring to him and you’ve given him nothing. 7 is you give him what he wants and are obedient for the most part.

Context i rewatched the scene in episode one and holy fuck do I hate this man
I am upset at something different but focusing on this so rant under the cut. I swear a lot and it’s kinda long so be warned
Look I know show! Aemma is older but holy shit he’s put her through at least five pregnancies (I don’t remember the exact number)!! At least four babies died!! And he’s hesitant when she says she’s done??? It’s not your uterus mf
And then! I get he’s the king he can make his own damn choices I don’t expect him to ask (even though he fucking should have) but at the very fucking least tell her???? No ‘hey we’re trying a new method of saving the baby’ no ‘hey so we’re going to try to cut out the baby’ nothing!!! Just ‘they’re bringing the baby out’ and ‘don’t be scared’! Why the fuck shouldn’t she be scared you are fucking cutting her open!! The fuck???
Also like I get it’s Medieval times and all but they do know the hole the baby comes out of right?? Like they have seen babies come though this hole (this exact hole to be precise) why not make it bigger or something??? Instead of just starting in the middle??? But nope murder time because of bullshit
And one more thing he couldn’t be with her until it was an emergency?! Sir your wife has had at least a few miscarriages!!! Announce the tourney then be with your fucking wife you dick!!!
I’m not getting into the whole ‘sees Rhaenyra as a child but goes for Alicent who is the same fucking age’ thing right now but that is also so fucked up
As well as the ‘also doesn’t teach Rhaenyra shit’ stuff like there are two particular frames that do not help (shot of Daemons empty seat then immediate cut to Rhaenyra pouring his cup) (like you know your brother tell your only child Something!!!)
I do hate this man. So fucking much. How he has any fans suprises me like how do you like this man
(And don’t say he felt guilty and redeemed himself bc no tf he did not! I don’t care how good Paddy is I love Paddy but Viserys can trip into the seven hells)
#before anyone asks I’m fine#school is stressful so I took it out on viserys instead of someone I know irl#I do mean every word though#anti viserys i targaryen#viserys i targaryen#swearing warning#<checked if this was a tag bc wow do I go off#I don’t swear this much irl either so…well#HotD poll#house of the dragon#anti team black#<just trying to not upset people today#not spreading my bad mood I’m just curious

Another little essay on the mls5 finale
Tl;dr Gabriel Agreste Was Not Redeemed but it Makes Sense to feel weird and gross about it! And i think it was definitely Designed that way and did a very cool job of showing some complicated things
(Under a cut for ml s5 finale spoilers and also She-Ra spoilers because i’m comparing arcs, you dont have to have seen she-ra for this to make sense just, you will get spoilers)
Gabriel Agreste’s death reminded me IMMENSELY of shadow weaver’s death in she-ra. it left me with the same emotions. and i think they’re both Clearly trying to show the same thing
In both, there is this, almost *parody* of a heroic sacrifice??? There is a villain/abusive parent who is SHOWN repeatedly to be evil and to Cause Repeated Harm to their child/main character. But the main character can never quite renounce them because they’re always thrown the tiniest scraps at the very last minute. And this main character is trapped in a never ending cycle of needing to crawl back for help because despite it all they WANT to believe that there is some Pure Underlying Motive behind it all and that actually their parent DOES love them and IS good. Because who WOULDN’T want to believe that, especially in moments of terror and lonliness and the world falling to pieces???
And BOTH of these villains die by a “heroic sacrifice” that THEY think redeems them. They both die as a sacrifice ONLY when it’s a last resort and they’re going to die ANYWAYS if they DONT do anything. and they both make SURE that a child they’ve traumatized On Purpose is Watching Them Die Heroically. For both of them there’s this element of… their death is one last act of traumatizing the person they’re saving and ALSO one last act of making them feel Trapped and like they are In Debt and Have To Stay Loyal to their abusive parent?????
Like???? Gabriel LITERALLY does those tears that may or may not have been fake but were Definitely weaponized to play with marinette’s moral compass and catch her off guard. followed by the like… cackling evil villain act. Istg he was like Playing with marinette like a little ragdoll and Relishing in how Helpless she was as he made the wish. He KNEW he had her trapped, not just By The Miraculous but also Emotionally. He KNEW she had no one else to turn to. He KNEW he held the cards and he could say “make sure adrien remembers me as a hero” and that she’d HAVE to do it. Because he was about to die in front of her and she was going to be messed up by the whole thing and all these secrets and she wasn’t gonna have much choice other than to just Believe He Was Right And Good. As a coping mechanism.
And i think,,, there’s this aura of… he Genuinely thinks he has won. He thinks that he has succeeded in being a Good Father. He thinks that he has Manipulated and Snared his way into being a Hero and Right because he thinks that’s a thing you can do!!!! He doesn’t even consider changing his ways, not when natalie AND adrien AND ladybug all BEG him to listen. He doesnt consider treating anyone else as a person or admitting he could be wrong????? He just doubles down Harder and goes “hahaaaa i have manipulated and traumatized this teenager into continuing my lies and making up a narrative for me where im the hero… this is the same as being a genuienly good parent.”
And i GET the feelings of grossness bc that was a gross thing he did!!!! I agree!!!
But i DONT think he got to get away free or be redeemed????
If anything, it gave me the same gut feeling as shadow weaver’s death in she ra????? Like????? This is the Final Proof that he’s beyond saving because he cant even DIE without using it as one last opportunity to hurt someone he should be protecting????? And he doesnt even Realize that’s messed up he’s just like “heehee i win at tricking those stupid little teenagers into thinking im a hero” with no sense of self reflection.
After watching through that scene a few times i am CONFIDENT it was meant to come off that way and im not actually Sure how much they’ll address it??????
(And im also a teensy bit confused because??? I dont know who the target audience is at this point??? If it really is little kids as the target i am Sure they’ll address it blatantly but the show’s been getting darker and more Nuanced lately. But this is a different point)
but even if they DON’T!!!!! This is just!!! So similar to shadow weaver’s death in she-ra, another cartoon theoretically aimed at children and they DIDNT even address that one at all because it was just,,,,,, SO obvious that even if she DID save the main characters with her death she also used it as a way to twist the knife?????
And so far ive just been talking about Recreation Specifically???? But the REASON gane was dying was bc he literally CATACLYSMED HIMSELF with chat’s hand as a way to trauamtize ladynoir because he thought it would catch them off guard and screw with them!!!!!!!!!!
This is not the narrative saying “oh he had good intentions and was right all along uwu” to me, this was very clearly the narrative saying “sometimes people are so far convinced that theyre the only one that matters that they cant even DIE without using it as a way to hurt and manipulate everyone they should be supporting and wow can that screw people up when they’re left to pick up those pieces and leave them with a complicated mess of emotions.”
and also its saying that it is in fact okay to hate your dead parents if they sucked . And its okay to be have complicated feelings about it, u dont have to be able to make an opinion immediately or seperate yourself from the situation. Sometimes it hurts and you mourn what you shouldve had Anyway.
And i think just like she ra, this is a very Mature and Complicated take and its Okay to have mixed feelings about it, but i just wanted to reassure people that the ending absolutely did not say that gabe was a good person.
It MIGHT have said that the wish actually helped make the world better!!! We don’t know that part yet!!!!
But we DO know that it said,,,,, even IF gabe made One Good Decision, he did it at the cost of everyone he should have been supporting and died with everyone he loved hating him for Good Reason and he used his last seconds of life to traumatize and manipulate a scared little kid into telling everyone he was A Hero . And he was not above beating up and hurting said little kid (ladybug) for funsies. I think even IF his wish IS proven to be A Good Thing (big if) there will STILL be a very valid question of “was it worth it.” There will still be tons of trauma on adrien and marinette’s part that Isnt going away. And that is on him and him alone

If you haven't talked abt it before, what are your durges relationship w Orin like? Did they feel any vestiges of those emotions past when confronting her post-tadpoling?
OK you didnt specify which durge u were talking about so im just gonna spill the tea on all 3 👀
pre-tadpole cassius & orin are essentially attached at the hip (like you actually would not see one walking without the other @ the temple) (woo codedependency! /sarc). there’s always been a kind of (not) subtle power imbalance between them what with durge being put up on a pedestal since they were a child but, at least in their youth, he treats her as close to an equal as his ego lets him & orin, discarded as unimportant/a dead weight by near everyone else at the temple, BASKS in it. that is, until gortash comes into cassius’ life, slowly ‘stealing him away’ over the course of about a decade until there’s near nothing left of the brother she once knew. he’s distant and patronizing and self-important and orin doesn’t understand why he doesn’t love her anymore & all that hurt and jealousy turns into resentment on both ends :)
post-tadpole cass doesn’t feel any of the fondness he once might’ve harbored for his sister. he sees her as a nuisance/obstacle in his way, a traitor, an example of what will happen to him should he fail father once more.
—
pre-tadpole cerys and orin’s dynamic is very much like. “i know you like the back of my hand and so i know how best to hurt you”. there are some elements of sisterly love in there, there’s an aknowledgement that they’re the only ones in the world that can understand the other but bhaal’s favoritism (& later enver’s involvement in isolating cerys from the temple) really strains that bond. cerys feels pressured to always be the best bc shes Daddy’s Special Little Princess™️ and orin takes it very personally. she thinks cerys is taking all of this for granted and decides hey, she deserves father’s love more than her betrayer sister!
post-tadpole cerys would have sacrificed herself to save and redeem orin if she could’ve, she feels no anger towards the betrayal. seeing orin so violated by the slayer transformation absolutely broke her because she knows exactly what it feels like to have your hand forced. she sits and cradles orin’s remains after the duel, apologizing for not being able to save her.
—
pre-tadpole saber like. almost disregards orin, not even out of self-centeredness but bc as little as she knows her, she cant stand to see orin losing herself to the madness saber knows she can’t pull her out of because orin doesn’t want to be saved. but in that same breath saber can’t afford to be weak, can’t afford to get attached to somebody, because she’ll still have to kill them in the end. saber is torn between feelings of familiarity & disdain towards orin, who simply takes it as saber being arrogant. the “what in the grey wastes are we going to do with you, little sister?” diary entry/note from durge is a huge catalyst in orin’s betrayal, physical proof of saber’s ‘hubris’
post-tadpole saber (in arcane vi & jinx fashion), hope on hope, begs orin to leave the temple with her, to let saber take her away from all of this before it consumes her. when she refuses, saber doesn’t blame herself for not being able to save orin from her demise, she knows there’s nothing more she could’ve done, but the look on orin’s face when she’s forced to transform haunts her long after the fact ❤️
#catyaps#oc: cassius#oc: cerys#oc: saber#bg3#baldurs gate 3#baldur's gate 3#bg3 durge#bg3 dark urge#bg3 the dark urge#asks#asks open#<- just. btw.#durge asks

James got Jamie drunk and got him raped. He forced Jamie to have sex with an adult when Jamie was (and probably the day he turned) 14. James has been beating Jamie for years. James has been abusing Jamie mentally as well, being the cause of Jamie's depression, self-consciousness and many other issues. James has probably been beating up Georgie, too, until she had the means to get out.
There's a huge difference between recognizing your bad behavior (being a jerk and a bully for funsies—which isn't great, too, but it's redeemable, especially since Jamie was basically abused into this behavior) and changing for the better and throwing an abused kid back into his abuser's arms that gave him such severe PTSD that some encounters give him very painful flashbacks. He doesn't even remember his first sexual encounter bc it was so bad that he blocked it out, but he for sure will be triggered again if something like the auction in s1 happens again. Jamie was raped, and by an adult at that, when he was just a teen.
Even if James changes for the better in the future, he already ruined Jamie's life in the ways that Jamie will never be able to fix. Never, no matter how hard he tries and works on himself and goes to therapy. It's the horror that will always stay with him. It's the things that will haunt him in nightmares on his worst days and stop him from falling back asleep.
It doesn't matter if James becomes dad of the year (unironically) and finds a wife that he'll genuinely love and cherish and never show any toxic behavior for the rest of his life (which probably won't happen, I can almost guarantee you that). He will always be a wife beater and child abuser. So when you go on a rant about protecting James and how he's only human, at least remember and admit what he did.
Jamie deserves BETTER and I'll stay on this hill. 'It's been a while'? It should stay that way. Ted never should have told him to forgive him and Jamie should have never reached out to his abuser, let alone visit him in rehab and act like it's all fine and at least 21 years of the abuse didn't happen.
Because it absolutely did.
#ted lasso#jamie tartt#tw abuse#tw rape#my dad didn't even come close to the damage james did to jamie#i loved my dad very much and i was was devastated when he died#yet I'm still dealing with the aftermath of his actions 2 years later#again: my dad loved me the way he could. i loved him.#but it was almost very toxic and destructive and he hurt my mom mentally quite a bit#to the point when i learned what he did i couldn't fucking believe it was the same person#and i felt betrayed and devastated and so incredibly mad#jamie is a good kid that wants love and Be Good#but getting back to his abuser and acting like never of that happened is not a part of that#it should NEVER be a part of that#there's plenty of love from other people AND at home#james can go fuck himself and leave jamie alone. period.#it's 11:11 pm#and with that i am hopefully going to sleep

the miraculous ladybug fandom really loves hating children for being children. they are literally kids. they are fourteen years old. "alya césaire bashing" should NOT be the top alya tag. what did she do wrong? have an underdeveloped brain since she's, oh, idk, fourteen? or-or is it because she *gasps* has made mistakes? why is "classmates bashing" a popular tag? oh noooo they're kids and they made mistakes! + the writing in those episodes was bad and they were ooc! how dare they! "adrien agreste bashing" - okay. he's flirtatious and has feelings. sue him for acting like the suppressed teen he is. like oh my god. even the lila hate,,, y'all do realize she's a child, right? you're allowed to hate her but wishing death upon her?the way that people write about/refer to lila is sick.
"alya césaire redemption" FROM WHAT!!! why does she need to be redeemed? gosh. no matter how many classmates bashing-related tags i filter out on ao3, i still actively struggle to find fics without it. these characters are 1. fictional and 2. children. if you can't handle kids being kids then stop watching???
not only are they kids, but they're traumatized kids. marinette and adrien aren't the only traumatized characters. every single classmate got akumatized and tried to kill the city's heroes and destroy the city. alix erased people from existence. how do you think she felt about that after the fact? ivan, a fourteen year old kid, was the first person to get akumatized. the first. he had no idea what was happening, people gave him so much crap for it, and then it happened again. sabrina almost killed chat noir. kim tried to make chat noir kill ladybug. alya tried to unmask her hero live. sabrina literally became invisible.
like... and not just that, but they've all been heroes, too. as exciting as it may have been at the time, you can't tell me they aren't at least a Little traumatized after fighting literal villains. oh, and they've been victims of akuma attacks. is chloe a bad person? kinda, yeah (but also partially bc of bad writing-). but she was almost like boiled alive, killed, was taken hostage countless times. max had to deal with the aftermath of markov's akumatization. when juleka became akumatized in "guilt", the classmates were forced to sit and get consumed by guilt. they've had to watch their family get akumatized, watch their friends or partners get akumatized, live through the guilt of knowing they hurt someone so much they got akumatized. bc they're human and they're kids. ofc they're going to hurt someone. it's natural. let them be kids!
#sorry guys i have feelings#idk why ppl hate alya so much#i get it you want mari angst okay then consider: do it correctly and use actual angst from the show instead of forcing everyone ooc#pisses me off#it's so hard to find fics where the class isn't demonized#and ik mari gets it too but it's usually the class/adrien bc they're just 'so mean to poor mari' besties like. no they're not???#also ppl get on adrien ALL THE TIME for being oblivious and make fun of him for she's just a friend but then when cjat noir gets upset over#being rejected it's suddeny like yeah let's kill him he SUCKS no means no god but if adrien doesn't reciprocate he will be killed <3#wHAT???#UGH#mlb#miraculous ladybug#if you hate kids then don't watch shows about kids#that easy#corey talks:)

lol you poor misguided child. it's pretty obvious that the kaz date is a parody of the paz date which in itself is obviously lighthearted. a romantic walk on the beach at sunset with the cheesiest sappiest dialogue. yeah very kaz. not. its not supposed to be taken seriously. why don't you think it was referenced again? seems pretty important to their character development that they were lovers no? strange it's never referenced or hinted at ever again.

did i fuckin. forget a disclaimer in the rewritten version of that last ask. my bad maybe. my point wasnt that mgs queer rep is praise worthy its done bad. kojima women bad. my point was that going into it with "No Nuance No Subtext Unless Its Bad" is a bad mindset to go into this with especially because like. its still not good even if you acknowledge that the writers might know that their protagonists might come of a bit gay?
Like what i think the closest thing i got to praise in that was saying that yes i think its bad that strangelove was perving on cecil and paz. i think its bad to have your only lesbian character hook up with a dude at the end of the game, despite any of the watsonian explanations. I think the "only women are capable of empathy" attitude she has in the cassetes is bad. but i also think her story in the meat of the game of doing whatever it takes to talk to the women she loved again is interesting and i think you have an incomplete analysis if you just disregard either side of that.
the whole point of bringing up a date with kaz is that it was just a silly double standard to draw the line. yknow the beach scene is clearly a joke and can be disregarded it never comes up again but the coy line into dick grab is clearer then day. and like i do agree i think volgin and raikovich is when the games are at its worse it is comically bad i think its weird to kneecap yourself out of talking about that bc "pervs on dudes in the shower" bb and "womanizer" kaz somehow redeems all of metal gears sins if theyre having gay sex in that box its silly.
and i truly. honestly. do not give a shit about most of these ships. i think is a consequence of the fact that the games write devotion to a Person a Concept a Cause etc really interestingly and i truly think it was only done romantically once w/ strangejoy but i think thats why alot of characters come off Like That to most fans. anyways im sorry you thought my post was saying mgs had some banging queer rep and not just. making fun of that anons mindset when it came to critique and analysis but i also think you maybe might have skimmed my post a little
#ashen.ask#man i didnt even get into the fact that i think focusing on shipping alone also kneecaps how u look at some of this bc like also with how#raiden is treated as a more effiminate man and also how that lead into raikovich i think is worthy of critisim#n y ways. no its not good rep but also No Nuance No Subtext Unless bad is not great mindset to go into this with its gonna cause you to Mis#Shit that is in your favor and make you bend over backwards to get your exceptions in rather then like. how does it just hold up like in#general. no need to make exceptions just This Reads Bad

I know a lot of people think that the problem w Hollyleaf’s characterization was that they redeemed her at all but respectfully I literally couldn’t disagree more… first off I think part of the appeal of her character in a series that has been biting itself in the ass for 20 years by refusing to deviate from the good and evil binary- even (especially?) when doing so would make the story more interesting- is her moral ambiguity, like I think making her all-out evil would make her just as uninteresting to me as if they’d depicted her as always being in the right. Second of all I think it’s important to acknowledge that Hollyleaf’s more reprehensible actions are a direct result of her believing that she is always in the right. She has main character syndrome and she is making it everyone else’s problem!! She doesn’t do evil shit to be evil, she always does what she thinks is the right thing to do because she always has to be right. And while this is definitely more out of pride than genuine altruism, I don’t think it necessarily started out that way. With what we’ve been presented I think it’s safe to say that, while Holly has always been ambitious and self-centered to some degree, she is also fundamentally principled with a strong sense of justice and unwavering loyalty to her clan. She might have let her worst traits win out due to stubbornness and being allergic to admittance of wrongdoing, but actually turning on her clan? Committing conscious acts of evil against innocent cats (who haven’t committed any perceived offense against the warrior code)? Hollyleaf could never justify that to herself, and so it wouldn’t make sense for her character. I just hate the way that they went ab her redemption… like I liked the parallels between the fox cub turning on her and the way she treated Leafpool, but other than that, wtf was she supposed to have learned from dicking around underground for however many moons? How did that advance her character growth? I think they should have killed her in the tunnel collapse and sent her to the Dark Forest, bc being sent to cat hell might be the only thing that would ever make Holly admit she was in the wrong tbh. And then!! Bc she realized she fucked up and is still loyal to her principles and her clan, she could have acted as a sort of DF deprogrammer from the inside, warning the cats training in the DF ab what they were getting into and eventually fighting against the DF in the Great Battle. Then we could finally get a DF cat being admitted to Starclan after their redemption instead of this weird reverential treatment of punitive justice that the series seems determined to push on their child audience
#in conclusion she’s so me fr#also i know getting mad ab wc is cringe but it’s like this series goes out of its way to squander character potential#i wanted cult deprogrammer hollyleaf do you hear me#hollyleaf#warrior cats#dark forest
