Losers Hc's
I have so many personal Loser Hc's that just live in my head and I just want to share them. I wanna put them somewhere so I'm putting them here. Some hints of Poly Losers
Ben
He has a peanut allergy, idk why, it's the vibes
Until he met Bev his wardrobe consisted of nerdy t-shirts with awful puns. You know what I'm talking about.
Secretly loves Twilight (him and Richie watch it together)
His favorite drink is lemonade, iykyk
Keeps fish! Like really big aquarium set ups and he actually designs some of the decor. Can't keep any aquarium plants alive tho
Mike
loves the smell of cashmere and just collects candles in general
I've mentioned picnics with him before (the ones he takes with Bev and Eddie) but he also likes to make little finger sandwiches and wears fancy sun hats on said picnics
hates the taste of olives, my man is anti olives
bringing this up again, but he had a stuff tigger as a kid and when he's an adult he keeps it in a shadow box
also he's a bit of a technophobe, he had a flip phone until the Losers literally made him upgrade, it was difficult for group texts
Eddie
red shorts this, red shorts that, consider him wearing overalls! He has a whole collection for every kind of weather and they're adorble
not much of a gamer but went through a really intense minecraft stage, the other losers refused to play with him
he loves traveling. Sonia never allowed him to go anywhere so as an adult he goes everywhere. Constantly taking trips and planning the next place to explore. Also he tries to travel with the Losers if they're going somewhere for work. Richie to L.A., Bill to London, Bev to Italy for fashion shows
secret huge ya novels nerd (don't tell Bill)
he's really into fancy coffee. Has an espresso machine in the kitchen and tries to make little designs in the foam and is constantly watching aesthetic coffee videos
Richie
pretends to like horror movies but is actually baby, he covers his eyes the whole time
He owned a ferret, his name was Todd. Eddie and Stan pretended to hate it but the creature grew on them
allergic to cats, cue the ferret, his skin will break out in hives if he's near one, but he doesn't care. He will pet that cat and the others Losers have to stop him
LOVES Futurama, he has a tattoo of Bender on his ass
Actually enjoys doing yard work. His mind is constantly going but when he's doing yard work, running the weed wacker or the lawn mowers, he can't hear himself think. Or if he's raking leaves or cutting bushes, his mind is too zeroed in on his task. It's strangely therapeutic for him
Bill
constantly has ink on his hands, from drawing or his typewriter, it's always there
had adult braces, IK I've said this before but I'm very passionate about 20 year old something Bill with a full set of braces. Yes I had adult braces too, why do you ask?
Sticks his tongue out when he's really focused on something and gets a wrinkle between his brows
he is dumbest smart person you will ever meet. He is an idiot. Everyone thinks he's supposed to be smart bc he's a best selling author but no, this man will try to pry something open with a knife with his face too close to said knife. He has no self preservation instincts, it's only bc of the Losers he's made it this far
has a weird obsession with Cherry Coke
Bev
again, i've said this before, but Bev always wanted a pet and she can't give the emotional care a cat, dog, rat, ect needs so she keeps reptiles. They're really cool and besides their basic care, they don't need anything else from Bev, they're perfectly content to be watched by her on the other side of the tank
speaking of that, her favorite reptile are geckos and she's actually based a couple her designs on their patterns
went through a phase where all she did was play the Sims. She was obsessed. The losers would go to bed while she was playing and wake up and she was still playing it. Yes this overlapped with Eddie's minecraft phase.
believes in Bigfoot. Like for real.
complete roller coaster fanatic, loves going to amusement parks to ride the most extreme roller coasters
Stan
has a deep passion for the Law & Order shows, they're his guilty pleasures
had a mental breakdown in his twenties and dyed his hair blue. The others losers where surprised and yes Stan regretted it. It was Impossible to get out and he basically just had to grow it out
believe it or not he is a horrible driver. He insists he's a great driver but the other losers refuse to ride with him. He doesn't get it. It's not like he's hit multiple curbs and gets massive road rage
he is constantly cold, over half the sweaters in the house belong to him and he's always under the blanket when watching tv. His cuddles are rare but during winter with no hesitation he will snuggle up under the human space heaters (Richie, Ben, and Mike)
he gardens! Has a rose garden out front with a bird bath and feeder. hates dirt though so when he's out there he has gloves and a little garden apron on
I have more too

Tabitha
His his parents are some of the most irritating people I have ever met. Their lifestyle is shallow and lazy. They are both obese couch potatoes with no culture. They watch the dumbest movies, and I don't even think they own more than 5 books. It would not surprise me if either of them have only read about 5 books in their life times. I know my boyfriend hasn't. My boyfriend's mother, we will call her Tabitha, has Parkinson's disease. Her symptoms are pretty well managed because of a surgery she's had that stimulates the deep brain tissue. I'm not sure really how it all works. Obviously she has some issues, mostly socially and cognitively. She does not have tremors due to her surgery and medication, but her gait is off balance and her speech is slurred.
As a result of her disability. she hasn't been able to work in over 20 years. I know what it's like to be home all day long for extended periods of time and I know the impact that starts to have on your mind. The way you perceive things just becomes off, and unintentionally self centered. Tabitha's world is very small, and I feel for her, but something in that woman's life needs to change. Everyone likes to tell other people they need therapy but she actually needs therapy, or at least to develop a hobby that she can cultivate over time because she is the most needy, desperate individual I have ever met.
When I first started dating her son Pilot about six months ago now, I welcomed her desire to be close with me. I figured it would be a great opportunity to foster a positive connection with someone who may very well be my mother in law one day. Plus, this might be kind of random information to add now, but I've known her for 7 years. She is my older sister's neighbor and was her close friend as well. I always knew her as my sister's friend before she became my boyfriend's mother. So needless to say I was already very familiar with her and looking forward to getting closer. After a turn of events that I'd rather not get into the details of at this moment, I ended up needing a place to stay. Tabitha was extremely enthusiastic and invited me to stay with them, almost pleading. I barely had wanted to let them know I was homeless, but I was getting to a point where I had to say something or it was going to come out on it's own. Anyhow, I ended up living with my boyfriend's parents for 5 months before switching housing situations.
I wish I had never done this. It made me completely hate my boyfriend's mom and not be able to revoke the feelings I've felt for her. It just gave me a permanent....ick. She was obsessive and clingy; expecting me to spend every drop of my free time with her. Inviting me to her bible study, her church, to go to the store, to go to the gym, everything she did she wanted me to do with her like I was her emotional support lap dog. Her guilt trips were insane but I still learned how to say no and make it clear I wasn't interested in spending time with her at certain times. The worst thing I had to address with her was her coming into my room or knocking on the door in the mornings to wake me up or let me know what she was leaving the house to go do. I was closing at the restaurant I worked at and sometimes hung with my coworkers late, so needless to say I had a night owl schedule. I slept in after closing nights often, and I didn't want to be interrupted. I had never been a guest in anyone's home thus far in my life and had someone just blatantly wake me up to socialize with them or to be told " I'm going to the store."
"Send a fucking text, bozo. I'm not 12." Were along the lines of my first waking thoughts every morning for months. I just couldn't escape her, not even in my sleep. Sometimes I'd come out in the living room at night to read and sip tea after everyone went to bed for some proper alone time, but sure enough, even at the latest hours of the night, if she heard me out there she would scramble her ass out of bed to come sit with me and talk.
Never being allowed privacy or autonomy made me want to claw her eyes out. The lack of sleep from being woken up from by her was becoming a genuine problem that was affecting my life. My last straw was when I went through a depressive episode after taking this horrendous medication for hives (prednisone). I will make another post about that but I was not doing okay. I let the room I was staying in get a little messier than I'd typically let it get (I'm not extremely organized to begin with I will be honest, but I wasn't living like a slob in this woman's house). I did neglect my laundry and left some empty water bottles on the desk. I came home one day and Tabitha let me know I needed to clean my room and made fun of me for letting it get that way. "I laughed the whole time, don't be embarrassed." I was so annoyed. I didn't appreciate having my privacy invaded or made fun of for something that is not common from me. It was one bad week. I'm 21. I let her know this hurt my feelings and I don't appreciate her going in to the space I'm staying in whenever I'm gone. I recognized that it's her house but I don't want to be there if I have no privacy. I packed my stuff and I left a few days after this conversation. She was so distressed and felt like I had deprived her of our friendship. The "friendship" that had become completely one sided long ago. I lost interest in our relationship the moment it became clear she wanted to become my fucking conjoined twin. Something about her just disgusted me. The neediness, the lack of boundaries, the spoiled attitude, the immaturity, the laziness. The suffocating feeling I have when I'm around her. Her having made her identity about having Parkinson's yet having the worst possible life style you could have under that circumstance and making no efforts to change this. The dogs that she owns that she never takes on a single walk during the day, and as a result, behave neurotically and insecure.
After this reformation in her and I's relationship, she started acting out in the ways I fully expected her to. My boyfriend came home from college and while I said hello to her when she was around, I avoided any unnecessary interaction with her. Pilot and I keep to ourselves in his room for the most our time at his parent's. She started having issues with this and expressed she felt like there was "avoidance" coming from me. She started saying she wasn't comfortable with me spending the night altogether because it's wrong morally because Pilot and I aren't married. I addressed her concerns it was inappropriate for her to obsessing over her son's sex life and treating us as if we're supposed to dedicating any amount of time to her. Note that she addressed all of this to me, and not him. It wouldn't even be a problem spending time with her, if it wasn't so contrived on her end. I don't know what to do for her, and I hope eventually she accepts that I'm not interested in friendship with her.

what a lovely dream it is
english major!wanda x english major!fem!reader
summary: who would have thought that wanda, the self proclaimed queen of reading science fiction, would be just as obsessed with shakespeare as you?
warnings: one use of the word “su*cide”. shakespeare. nerds quoting lines. bad writing. (i challenged myself into writing this in an hour and a half). cringey writing (there is a difference)
word count: 4k!
Tumblr media
You and Wanda connected at first because you two spoke the same language from different regions. It felt like she spoke British English, and you spoke American English. You were on the same wavelength but not exactly the same individual wave, but it was as close as you had ever gotten with someone who you deemed worth your time.
While everyone else was partying or drinking until they threw up or flaunting around bags with white powder in them, you sat with your back to the wall after studying, reading a classic, knowing that the change of her leaning against the same wall and doing the exact same thing you were was high.
You met her in the library, on your third day at your university. You were trying to find your group of authors, your little nook where you would feel the safest in the entire school. You had stumbled right into the fantasy section, looked around for a second, and then tripped over a brown boot that was just at the start of the science fiction shelf.
“I’m so sorry,” a woman’s voice murmured, and you just shook your head and said that it was okay, much more interested in the way that your hands suffered from the fall on the carpet than the girl. Until you looked up.
It was everything about her that stunned you. The brown hair, the flush of her cheeks, the apologetic look in her pale blue eyes that caressed her features to sit in one beautiful and genuine expression. The moment your eyes landed on her, you swore that your heart stopped and started in the same second, and then took a run for it with all of the parts of your brain that you needed to make a coherent thought.
 You promised yourself in that moment that you would never forget the way the woman in front of you looked. And despite seeing hundreds of more faces throughout your self-tour, you never truly did forget it. If you didn’t know any better, if you were perhaps any younger and less exposed to the cruelty of the world and fate and its way of not giving you what you wanted, you would have been certain that the universe had finally given you the contemporary meet cute that you yearned for.
But then, you saw which aisle she was in. You looked at the books and recognized the authors just to be sure, and then you turned to look at her. “You’re into science fiction?”
 Her apologetic look fell completely into a look of pure surprise, and then excitement, almost as if she thought that she found someone else who liked the genre she did. “Well, it’s the best genre that was ever written.”
  “Wow, how wrong,” you found yourself saying, and somehow, you knew that the look of offense on her face was all for fun. “It’s definitely gothic literature.” The look she gave you was one that you would never forget.
  A week later, you ran into her in the cafeteria, holding a copy of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, your beat up one from home that you would put your life on the line for. The cover was torn up a bit and the pages were dog eared, from a time where you hadn’t discovered the way that bookmarks changed lives. It was the copy your cousin got you, and it was your favorite gift to date.
  She was holding The Martian Chronicles. You nearly gagged.
At first, you thought she hadn’t seen you, or hadn’t recognized you, which was even worse. You sighed under your breath and said, “at least it’s not Nineteen Eighty Four,” and watched in complete horror as she turned around.
She locked eyes with you immediately, and her own eyes widened when she saw you, and then she grinned when she undoubtedly recognized you and your disdain for science fiction. “No, it’s even better than Nineteen Eighty Four.”
“Anything is better than that,” you said, swallowing down your nerves at speaking to the girl again, kicking yourself for being so nervous despite not even knowing her name.
She gave you that same “offended” look she gave you during your first interaction, and you cracked a small smile. “Um, don’t you voluntarily go into the gothic section?”
The smile dropped. “The most valid section in the library? Sure do.”
She smiled too, a genuine grin as she took a step forward and extended her hand. For a second, you just looked at it, the calmness that came with the discussion of literature suddenly washed away so far back into your mind that you panicked for a moment, not reaching for her hand until you saw it shake in just the slightest, like she was regretting even doing it.
You nearly bumped your elbow on the table trying to stand up and shake her hand. Your hands connected and you grinned so wide it felt like your face had split open. You told her your name and she repeated it to make sure she had heard you loud and clear, and then, she smiled even brighter.
“Nice to meet you, Dracula. I’m Wanda.” And that was where it started.
As your library meetups started to become more intentional than not, you learned that not only was Wanda a student that stayed in the dorms, but the student who was next door to you. You learned that she pretty much kept to herself for the most part besides a few other people at the university, and that she kept a small circle. You learned that her favorite book was Brave New World. You learned that she would rather shy away from classic romance novels, even though you didn’t mind them, and that she hated gothic literature. You loved it. Your favorite book was The Picture of Dorian Gray, for god's sake. So, you hated each other’s favorite genres.
  But you both loved symbolism. And you were both English majors. And for some very odd, very coincidental reason, you both met in what was nowhere near the middle- Shakespearean plays.
  Now, that was something that you were always made fun of for as a child. No one wanted to hang out with the girl who quoted Shakespeare, especially if it wasn’t even from Romeo and Juliet. Reading normal books just made you look “smart”, but you knew that genuinely enjoying plays would make you look pretentious. So you had always kept it to yourself when you left your hometown. Until Wanda came along.
Wanda came along, and suddenly, you found yourself quoting tragedies and getting the correct response back. Sometimes, she would even start it first. You would do nerdy things like halfway reenact scenes because even you guys weren’t that nerdy… you supposed.
One morning, you and Wanda were in a study group (that was hardly productive because it was just Wanda’s little circle that was actually astoundingly close), and she looked over your shoulder to see your computer, where you were hardly typing an essay about the importance of the establishment of places for higher education. She put her chin against your shoulder, sat there for a minute, and then turned her head to whisper in your ear, “nothing will come of nothing.” It was embarrassing, the way your eyes lit up at hearing her voice, and even more so when Natasha, Wanda’s extremely perceptive friend, picked up on what you were feeling. The red head shot you the widest grin ever known to man.
“C’mere, Frankenstein,” Wanda said one night, already looking over at you while you tried to finish your work for the day.
You held back the smile on your face as you sat on your bed, one leg over it while you typed. “I’m right here.”
“No, here,” she emphasized, and then she was patting the spot on the small couch in your room, the same look in her eyes that always came with when she asked for any kind of physical contact.
  That was by far the worst thing about Wanda, and it hardly had anything to do with her. She was touch starved, and touch was your love language. Her asking you to hold her on the couch used to mean nothing to you, because at one point, you just thought she was pretty. But now, holding her hand on top of the table while you both were submerged in your respective worlds felt like a promise ring. Letting her rest her head on your shoulder and in your neck felt like giving your vulnerability over to her, and feeling her hand rub against your back felt like she was taking it and guarding it. But you knew she didn’t feel the same way, not at all.
She was straight.
But it did you no good when she quoted back some of your favorite lines. It didn’t help when she said all of the romantic lines towards you at the drop of a hat, almost like she didn’t even realize what she was saying. She didn’t understand the way your heart died and was revived every time she said something like that, something that was so dear and vulnerable to you. And she certainly never would, because you would never tell her.
Now that you thought about it, allowing yourself to fall for her was the dumbest and most destructive thing you could have ever done. The first bookworm who didn’t make fun of you for your knowledge and love of old plays was the one that took hold of your heart, and now you were paying for being such an idiot. Now you would have to sit through three more years of school with her being your friend, just your friend, while you pined over her. It was going to be hell.
And was it. You had to sit through her saying the most romantic of Shakespearean quotes every day and act like she wasn’t making your heart shake. You had to listen to her speaking the language that you two shared and pretend that you just wanted to be her friend. You were so attached to her and everything that you two had established together, and you couldn’t ruin it by giving her googly eyes. She was way too important for that. Because now, she was way more than a person who you could talk to about old plays. She was the person that you could talk to about anything, without a doubt. Anything but the intense crush that you were harboring for her, and the way that she made your heart sing and your soul ascend whenever you smelled her perfume or saw her smile. Anything but that.
§§
 “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” You looked up from your book only to see Wanda looking over at you, lying down on the blanket and just watching you. You swore later on when you were alone that you imagined it, but for a moment you could have sworn that you saw a flash of adoration in her eyes. “Thou art more lovely and more temperate.”
You were choking on the inside. Your face was blank, but your mind was going haywire, and you couldn't think of anhytnign besides holding back the urge to say something that you had no chance of taking back. “You’re in a sonnet mood today, aren’t you?”
“And what mood are you in today, Jekyll?”
“I’m in the mood to finish this book,” you teased, and she rolled her eyes.
“What if I’m in the mood to sit and watch a movie?”
“Then you should do it,” you said, going the way your heart clenched at the thought of her cutting your friendly outing short. “I’ll follow you in an hour or two.”
She gave you a look. “You know I don’t go anywhere without you.”
“You can go watch a movie, Wands.” You sighed out, closing your book and wedging your pointer finger between the pages so that you wouldn't get lost.
 “I’ll wait,” she said, and you shook your head at her.
“I don’t want to hold you back from getting in time with your favorite sci fi movies.”
“Can I go forward when my heart is here?”
You were hit with such a wave of longing that you had to shut your eyes for a moment, but it looked like it was simply a long blink. “You’re so cheesy.”
“I want to hear one,” Wanda said, leaning on her elbows as she stared up at you, and your heart pounded. She looked celestial, glowing under the sunlight with growing grass around her and a sweet smile budding on her face. “You never quote any back to me anymore, you know?”
You knew, for sure. It was on purpose that you didn’t quote back. If you were to continue the conversation in romantic quotes, it was going to feel way too real to you. You could handle Wanda and her touches, but you were not going to be able to handle quoting Romeo and Juliet to her. “I’m sorry,” you mumbled softly, and then you heard her make a sound with her tongue, a displeased clicking noise.
  You looked up at her and lost your breath again, and your mental footing. There she was, looking up at you with her pretty eyes, giving you a look more intense than she had ever given you before. She was… it was almost like she was waiting for something, like she knew something. She was staring up at you and leaning on her hand in a way that was so oddly domestic in your mind, and you could almost see in your mind the way that she would do that if you woke up in the same bed, like she was waiting for you to wake up and trying to memorize your face. It made you warm on the inside, and just like she always managed to do, your brain turned to mush.
“Conscience doth make cowards of us all,” you blurt, and you saw her brows pull in for a second. You blinked.
  “Huh?”
You were panicking on the inside. There were plenty of ways that she could have taken the quote that you had chosen, but you knew exactly what it sounded like. A half assed love confession. “You know, from Hamlet,”
“Of course I know it’s from Hamlet, Jekyll.” She shook her head at you and sat up, crossing her legs without breaking eye contact. “But why that quote? You know so many, and you chose the one about death.”
Unfortunately, it’s death by silence in this context, not by swords. “You said you wanted to hear a line,” you said, shrugging as you opened your book, trying to get rid of the embarrassment that you knew would stick to you for hours and hours.
 “What a line,” she said, and then she rolled over to look up at the sky. Minutes later, you heard her sigh. “What a line.”
§§
Romeo + Juliet was a classic for your movie night. At first, Wanda showed it to you after you boycotted it for years, despite your male celebrity crush being one of the main characters in it. You had always avoided watching because of the modernism, but one Wanda made you sit down and watch it, you actually found good things about it. For instance, the party scene.
  “It was done wonderfully,” Wanda would always say from beside you after your extremely predictable comment of the scene being a masterpiece.
Like always, there were a few moments of silence as you two watched the movie together, shoulder to shoulder on the small couch in your dorm while your roommate was off getting high. You watched the rest of it in near silence, halfway focused on the movie while the other part of your mind was split in two; feeling blessed that Wanda was even there with you, soclose, and feeling cursed that she was so close but so far. It was the perfect moment to hold her close like you wanted to so badly, but the timing wasn’t right. And that killed you.
“Do you ever think about how they fell in love so fast?” Wanda asked, and you shrugged your shoulders. “I’d say that they were encroaching on soulmate territory.”
“Soulmates, or foolish teenagers?”
“I hardly know of any teenagers who would die for each other, even if they thought they were in love,” Wanda pointed out, and you rolled your eyes at her. “Don’t give me that face. I’m right, and you know it.”
“I’ll always let you believe it, sci fi.”
“But, really, don’t you ever want something like that?”
You turned your face from the screen and looked at her incredulously, like she had gone mad while completing the process of growing three heads. “A suicide pact?”
She groaned and threw her head back. “No. A love like that. Take away the death and violence, and look at what they had.”
“It bloomed too quickly to have much potential later in life,” you countered. “That was infatuation, and that never lasts long.”
“You think that they both died for infatuation?”
“I think that they were young, and it’s hard to tell the difference between love and infatuation at any age, let alone as a teenager. I think they thought they loved each other to the ends of the earth, but I guess they’ll never know.”
“You’re so cynical. Just like a person whose favorite is gothic literature.” You laughed, leaning forward towards her without even noticing what you were doing. “Do you believe in love?”
“Of course I do,” you answered, giving her a look. “I’m just saying, Romeo and Juliet were not in true love. They were confused.”
Then, the playful air that the conversation was flowing on changed so quickly that you nearly got whiplash and your heart started racing. The way Wanda was looking at you sent a chill down your spine, and in that moment, you were worried. “Are you confused?”
You took in a breath. “About what?”
“About anything,” she said slowly, almost like she felt like she was walking on thin ice with skates on. “Books, people, love, food, sexuality,” she ignored the way that you choked, “writing a paper, how to get  a strike in bowling. Or how to realize that Romeo and Juliet were definitely in love.”
“You’re so intent on proving that they were to me,” you said, a laugh bubbling over and into your words. “Why are you suddenly so passionate about them now?”
“The sight of lovers feedeth those in love.”
Your heart jumped out of your chest again, and your hands clenched into weak  fists as you tried to will yourself into not assuming that she was talking about you. And then, white hot panic struck you at the thought of her being in love with someone else. “Speak low if you speak of love.”
“Why should I?” Wands asked, shifting from her position on the couch to put a hand under her chin and watch you, her kind eyes afire with something that you had yet to see in them yet. “Really, Jekyll. Why?”
You hardly waited a full second before responding as truthfully as you ever would. “I’m afraid.” Before she could get a word in, you shook your head and finally loosened your lips, letting all of your worries and fears slide right through your teeth. “I’m afraid that I’ve fallen in love with someone who can never love me back. I’m scared to admit that I’ve been in love with you for a long time.  I’m afraid that you aren’t into girls.” You saw her make a face, almost like she couldn't believe that you were even suggesting the things that you were. “I don’t quote Shakespeare to you anymore because it feels too real to have you say lines like that back to me. I think that I’ve latched onto you without even meaning to, and now I don’t know if I can ever let you go.”
Wanda was silent. She was watching you, as quietly as the sun hovered over the earth while she shone her light. Your heart had never beat so fast before as you watched her watch you with a face so blank that you were sure that she hadn’t retained a damn thing that you pulled from the depths of your heart. Then, the daunting thought that she had heard and understood everything but chose not to act swallowed you whole, and your hands started to shake. You gave a humorless laugh and finally looked away from the woman who had raised your spirits and crushed them all within five minutes. “I’m sorry. I’ve ruined everything, haven’t I?”
“I’m so sorry.” You repeated, shaking your head and closing your eyes for a second as hot tears burned in them. When they opened, a fat tear sappetered onto your hand. I’m such an idiot. You looked to the screen, and then saw Romeo screaming, on the ground, and you could hear the words even though your ears were rushing with blood. I defy you, stars. “You don't have to say anything back, I know you don’t feel the same.” Your eyes pulled away from the screen. “I can leave- wait, um, this is my dorm. I-”
“Doubt thou the stars are fire,” Wanda started slowly, and your brows furrowed as you heard the words fall from her lips. Fuck. You knew what this ended with, and still, you couldn’t wrap your head around it. “Doubt that the sun doth move. Doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love.”
Your eyes were wide by the end of it, watery and fixed on her. “W-what?”
“How could you not have known?” Wanda asked softly, and you but your lip to stop from bursting into tears.
“I thought you were straight!” You accused, and to your surprise, she laughed.
“No, sweetheart.” Your heart stuttered. “I’m not.”
Your breathing was still slightly heavy as you tried to get a  grip on everything that was happening. “You… you feel the same way?”
“Of course I do, Jekyll.” She said, and you found yourself falling for her expressive eyes all over again as she stared up at you.  You reached your hand out experimentally, like she did the second time you ever met, and you waited that torturous moment for her to take your hand in a way that was much different than all the other times you shared a touch. This touch was the moment of truth.
She took your hand, kissed your knuckles, and put your palm on her cheek.
“The very instant that I saw you, did my heart fly to your service.”
“This can’t be anything but a dream,” you murmured, feeling her cheek in your hand and the way they were warm and flushed. The softness was bringing you in and out of your head, and every time you went back to reality, you were thrusted into a little sliver of paradise.
“Well, what a lovely dream it is, then.” Her lips found yours. The movie played on, the clock kept its incessant ticking, and your leg was starting to tingle from sitting on it in the same position for so long. But to you, time absolutely stopped. And as long as a particular science fiction nerd was in front of you, nothing that ticked or clicked or buzzed was ever going to matter.

All About The Chase - F.W.
Fred Weasley x Reader
Summary: Y/N will do anything for her best friend—and crush—Fred Weasley. Even if that means fake dating him so he can catch the eye of her cousin.
Word Count: 6.5k
Warnings: Light swearing, one allusion to sex (blink and you’ll miss it), brief mention of intoxication (again, blink and you’ll miss it), super mean awful cousin, food, a little angsty with a happy ending,
A/N: For the anon who asked for Fred fake dating his friend to make her relative jealous! I decided to make her the twins age, and I may have went a little overboard with the cousin rivalry, but oh well. Thank you for feeding into my love of cliches! Also, I played around with using third person rather than second, it just felt right for this one. Pictures are from Pinterest.

When Y/N was six years old, her parents—well, Santa—got her the most amazing art set. She had always liked to draw, and now she had an array of more colors than she could even really name. When her family was set to head to her Aunt’s house for Christmas dinner, she packed up all of her new markers, a stack of fresh paper, and a few of her drawings she was most proud of to show off.
The night had started wonderfully. She got a few more gifts from her grandparents, a beautiful doll from her aunt and uncle, and enough sweets and candy to last her months. When it was time to finally eat, Y/N left all of her new toys and her cherished art set in her relatives’ living room. Y/N doesn’t remember much about the dinner—why should she? It was a decade prior—but what she does remember vividly is the excitement that bubbled up in her tiny body when her mother suggested she go grab some of her artwork to show off.
Y/N slid out of her chair and raced into the living room. Only when she got there did she find all of her finished art completely destroyed, covered in scribbles from her new markers. Her brows had furrowed and her eyes welled with tears, and that’s when she heard it. The sinister little cackle of her cousin, Annalise. Y/N turned on her heels and saw the girl, uncapped marker in hand, looking at her as if she was the most pitiful thing in the world.
Y/N returned to dinner empty handed, claiming she had forgotten the drawings at home—even though her parents were certain she hadn’t. Annalise returned with an innocent smile and a portrait of their Nan in hand—one Y/N was certain she just made with her markers—and all of the adults cooed and awed at the small girl’s talent.
A few years later, Y/N was set to star in their primary school’s theater production. Looking back, she now recognized that her landing that part had little to do with any real talents she had, and more to do with how adults always seemed to fawn over her. She was always revered as ‘just the cutest little thing!’ Which evidently preceded talent at the ripe age of eight.
Right before she was set to go on stage and deliver her three lines (that’s all a star can really handle so young, right?), she found her angel wings shredded and her halo headband bent in half. The teacher didn’t have any time to fix her costume, so in a fluster she threw out her part all together, and sent Y/N to stand with the rest of the year 3 ensemble. It didn’t take long for Y/N to catch Annalise’s eye amongst the other students, only she was smirking. Y/N had to force her eyes back out onto the crowd and desperately search for her parents to keep herself from bawling on the spot.
As if things couldn’t get any worse between the pair of cousins, when Y/N was ten, her and her parents were astonished to find a letter tucked into their usual mail, accepting her into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The letter gave an answer to the many strange things Y/N had been able to make happen with her emotions alone, and her chest swelled with pride to learn just how special she truly was. Not to mention, this was finally her opportunity to escape Annalise once and for all.
Until, it wasn’t. Y/N didn’t know that Annalise was a witch as well until the two families spotted each other on the platform, preparing to send both of their daughters off. Neither parents had revealed the truths of their daughters abilities to the other prior, because they knew it must be kept with the upmost secrecy. Y/N’s parents and Annalise’s parents were overjoyed to know their little girls wouldn’t be all alone, and they had someone to share their apprehensions with. Y/N and Annalise were far less enthused by the news.
A little over five years later, Y/N sat in the Gryffindor Common room, rifling through beginning of the year work that had already been assigned. In the half-decade since she’d started at Hogwarts, she had managed to avoid Annalise as best she could. It turned out to be somewhat easy, seeing as they were sorted into different house. Still, whenever Gryffindor and Ravenclaw were forced into classes together, Y/N couldn’t help but feel dread pooling in her stomach. Annalise was always sure to make those classes a living hell for her.
Y/N’s attention was pulled from her work from the sound of a small group of people bounding into the common room. She glanced back over the couch, only to see her best friends—Fred and George—laughing and pushing each other around.
“She totally wants me!” Fred argued, a cocky grin alit on his face.
“Oh, please, she hates your guts, mate.” George teased back.
Fred looked as if he were about to respond, until his eyes met Y/N’s across the room. A more genuine smile found its way onto his face as he tugged his brother towards the couch, then plopped down next to her. George then took a seat in one of the chairs across from them. Y/N neatly gathered her work into a pile, knowing for certain there was no way she would make any progress with them around.
“Y/N, will you please tell my dear brother that your cousin is absolutely mad for me, she just has a different way of showing it?” Fred threw his arm lazily around the back of the couch, right behind her, as he looked at her expectantly.
Y/N couldn’t help the sour mood that the conversation immediately put her in. There was two reasons for this; one, the most obvious, any topic that involved Annalise always brought her down. She couldn’t help it, and she tried not to hate the girl, but everything about her was draining. The second reason was that Y/N was absolutely head over heels for Fred. She had been ever since he pranked Graham Montague for making her cry in third year. The idea of Fred and Annalise together was truly the epitome of her worst nightmare.
“I don’t know, she might really just hate you.” Y/N shrugged, doing her best to keep her voice even and her face straight. Her words caused Fred to scowl and George to erupt into fits of laughter.
“Oh come on, not you too!” Fred whined as he threw his head back.
“What do you even see in her anyways?” Y/N wasn’t sure she wanted to know the answer to the question, but she couldn’t help but ask it.
“Well, she’s quite fit.” This answer earned a swift slap to the arm from Y/N, which only made Fred snicker. “And!” He continued, persistent to point out that looks weren’t all he cared about. “She’s feisty, and smart. And, she acts completely not interested in me.”
“So that’s why you like her?” Y/N snorted.
“Ah, dearest Y/N, one day you’ll learn that it’s all about the chase.” Fred began to twiddle some of her hair between his fingers.
“There’s plenty of girls who aren’t interested in you! You could ‘chase’ any of them.” Y/N reasoned, batting his hand away.
“You’ve got that right.” George snorted, causing his brother to shoot him a glare.
“Well, even if that were true, I’ve got my sights set on her.” Fred shrugged.
“Well, if you really want Annalise to go out with you, you should just date me.” Y/N teased as she sat forward, beginning to pluck through her papers once again. When no one laughed or responded, she quickly shot her eyes up. “I’m only kidding.”
“No, no that could work.” Fred sat up abruptly and pointed a finger towards her. “Y/N, you’re a genius!”
“I’m really not.” Y/N shook her head quickly. “That might breach the list of dumbest things I’ve ever said.”
“Yeah, right, don’t forget we’ve been around you drunk, Y/L/N. That doesn’t even make the top ten.” George grinned at her, but her nerves kept her from even smiling at his little joke.
Y/N was growing desperate now, because neither of the twins were brushing off her silly joke. Fred was looking at her as if she just handed him the key to solve all of his problems, and George was doing nothing to tame his brother. Y/N glanced expectantly between the two of them as she drew her bottom lip between her teeth.
“Come on, what better way to make her jealous than to see me dating her cousin?”
Y/N had mentioned on occasion the way that Annalise always had to ruin everything for her as a child, but never in full detail. Some part of her knew if she had just been transparent about how truly awful the girl had treated her, Fred would never give Annalise a second glance. But now, he thought they were nothing more than cousins with a small childhood rivalry, and for that he could justify going after her.
“Please, Y/N,” Fred got down on his knees in front of her, dawning his best puppy dog eyes, and put his hands in a pleading gesture. “Be my fake girlfriend for a month—two, tops.”
Y/N chewed harder on her bottom lip as she gazed at him, already feeling her reluctance slipping away. She could never say no to him, especially when he looked so adorable. Y/n breathed out a sigh and dropped her head to look at her folded hands in her lap. All thoughts of self preservation and protecting her heart went out the door; she knew she would say yes to him.
“Fine.” Her voice was quiet, so much so that it took Fred a second to make sure he had heard her properly.
“Really? Just like that? I was about to start bribing you with sugar quills and a month of Herbology homework—”
“Well, if you’re offering—”
“Nope, too late. You agreed before I had to.” Fred grinned at the girl before swooping in and placing a kiss on her cheek. “Now, let’s set up some ground rules.”
Fred began to drone on about what they would and wouldn’t do. Things like holding hands in the corridors, sitting close at meals, kisses on the cheeks and forehead. Which pet names they would and wouldn’t use. Number one, though, was no kissing on the lips.
Y/N only listened halfheartedly as Fred rambled on, offering a slight head nod ever now and then to show she was in agreement. As Y/N thought over just what she had gotten herself into, she realized the next few weeks were going to be awful.
-
It didn’t take long for rumors of Fred and Y/N’s budding romance to swirl. She often found herself walking hand in hand with him through the corridors, light whispers trailing behind them. Often times, people she had hardly ever spoken to would come up to her and gush about how they always just knew Fred and her would be perfect together. Y/N would always politely smile, then wonder if they could hear her heartbreaking as loudly as she could.
To make matters worse, Fred was the perfect ‘boyfriend.’ Just as she always assumed he would be. He’d carry her books in one arm, swing their intertwined hands with the other, and walk her to each of her classes. At night, he’d sit with her in the library while she poured over her notes for the day—even though she knew he wanted nothing more than to be out pranking with George and Lee. She adored all of the extra time they were getting to spend together, until she’d remember that it was only temporary, and if he were lucky, he’d be doing all of these things with Annalise in a month.
It wasn’t until about three weeks into their agreement that Annalise approached her. Fred had walked her to potions that day, like he always did. He was making her laugh loudly, not caring at all about the many eyes upon them.
“It’s a wonder your mum didn’t ship you and George off when you were toddlers,” Y/n snorted. “It sounds like you two were menaces.”
“Oh, we were.” Fred nodded, a small grin on his face. “But I reckon we were the cutest babies she had so far, so she kept us around.”
Y/N snorted and rolled her eyes before nudging him lightly with her shoulder. They had finally made it to the potions classroom, so it was time for them to part. Fred handed her back her books and dropped her hand, but didn’t walk away until he had placed a soft kiss to her temple.
“Meet you outside of here after to walk to lunch?” He confirmed, but there was no need. It was the routine they had fallen into.
“Mhm.” Y/N gazed up at him, unable to contain the giddy smile on her lips. With that, he turned and began walking down the hallway, but not before shooting her a wink over his shoulder.
Y/N watched his retreating figure, a lovesick grin plastered to her face. Just when she had pulled herself from her daydreams and was about to enter the classroom, she ran hard into a firmly planted body.
“So, you and Weasley are pretty serious then, huh?” Annalise stood with her hands on her hips, a look that read as both disgust and amusement riddled on her face.
“Yeah, you could say that.” Y/N quickly recovered, hugging her books closer to her chest. This year, she had more classes with Annalise than any year prior, seeing as they both received a significant amount of O.W.L.s.
“Hm.” Annalise’s eyes trailed down the hallway where Fred had once been, before letting them snap back to Y/N. “Don’t know how you managed that.”
Y/N felt her blood run cold, but couldn’t find the energy within her to talk any further. So, she simply brushed past Annalise and into the classroom, ignoring the scoff that left Annalise’s lips when she pushed her out of the way. Y/N found her usual seat in the back and trained her eyes ahead, careful to keep her expression calm. That was, until Annalise slid into the seat next to her.
“What are you doing?” Y/N gaped at her. It wasn’t like they had assigned seats, but Y/N had always sat next to Patricia Stimpson. The girl was constantly fussing and nervous, always afraid to make a wrong move, but she certainly wasn’t the worst person Y/N could be stuck with.
“Asked Stimpson to trade seats.” Annalise shrugged nonchalantly, before a wicked grin grew on her face. “Figured we could get some good, cousin, bonding time.”
Y/N wanted to groan, but then Snape was gliding into the room and silencing everyone. She was certain this would be the longest lecture of her life.
-
When the class ended, Y/N didn’t wait for Fred outside. Instead, she had pushed up from her seat and hurried through the corridors, skipping lunch entirely to go wallow in her dorm room. Annalise had made the lecture a living hell, whether it be from snide comments she’d whisper over or by purposefully ruining their potion, then blaming it on Y/N. Internally, she cursed Fred—although it wasn’t really his fault—for putting her in the position to be in Annalise’s line of fire once again.
Y/N ended up avoiding Fred the rest of the day, scurrying between classes before he could find her. When she was finally done for the day, she wanted nothing more than to hide out in her dorm and cry. That’s exactly what she had started doing, too, before her door creeped open.
Y/N held her breath, assuming it was either Angelina or Alicia coming back before dinner. But, when her mattress dipped slightly from the weight of someone sitting down, she quickly spun around, coming face to face with Fred.
“Darling,” He cooed. It was a nickname he had taken to calling her ever since they started ‘dating,’ although no one was around now, and he was still using it. “What’s wrong? Have you been crying?”
“How’d you get in here?” Y/N croaked, avoiding his question entirely.
“Figured out how to get past the charm ages ago.” Fred rested a gentle hand on her knee. “Then, Ang gave me her key. Said she saw you run up her. So, are you going to tell me what’s wrong? And why’ve you been avoiding me all day?”
At that, Y/N lost it once again. Tears began streaming down her face freely, and she quickly sat up and accepted Fred’s opened arms. He raked his fingers through her messy hair and let her cry on his shoulder, gently soothing her to a place where she’d be able to speak.
“It’s just…” It was on the tip of her tongue. Y/N wanted desperately to tell him the truth about how awful Annalise truly was. But, just like when she was younger and never ratted Annalise out, she just couldn’t now. She didn’t know why it was, but it always felt like if she spoke the words out loud, then Annalise had won. “I’ve just had an awful day.”
“Snape will do that to you.” Fred tutted, clearly assuming her change in behavior post-potions was brought on by the professor. “I’m sorry, love.”
Y/N sniffled a few more times into his shoulder, wishing desperately that he was holding her in a way that wasn’t platonic. She craved nothing more than for him to want her like she’d always wanted him. But that seemed to be just a fantasy. The muggle fairytales she had been told growing up weren’t real, and the wicked witch was winning.
“Why don’t we go for a walk, get some fresh air?” Fred pulled back to look over her face, concern filled in his eyes.
“But, you’re missing dinner…”
“Eh, the house elves love me. I’ll just sneak down to the kitchens and grab something later.” Fred shrugged, a small smile now growing on his face. “You and me, we can make a whole night of it. I’ll sneak some snacks up and we can watch one of those old muggle movies you love so much.”
While Y/N was far from being completely okay, the tenderness he was exhibiting towards her made her heart swell. She knew he had plans with George and Lee that night, some big prank on a few Slytherins, but here he was, throwing it all away for her. He gently reached out and cupped her cheek, brushing a few stray tears away with his thumb. Y/N avoided his eyes, afraid that they would communicate all of the non-platonic love she felt for him, then nodded.
“Perfect.” Fred grinned before jumping up and extended his hand out to her. “Well, let’s go.”
Fred guided her the whole way out of the castle, keeping her close as they walked through the grounds. The autumn air was cool, and at the very second that Y/N shivered, Fred was wrapping an arm around her and pulling her into his side.
They walked around and talked for a little over an hour, giddy smiles on their faces all the while. Fred made her laugh so hard she abandoned all thoughts of Annalise, her mind completely filled with the tall red head beside her. He just had this way about him that could make anything that was possibly wrong seem miniscule. He reminded her of everything good in the world.
Once the sun was fully down and the temperature had dropped significantly, the two could no longer justify being outside in the cold. Fred made a show of wrapping her hands in his own, rubbing them together to bring her some warmth, before guiding her back to the castle.
They parted ways shortly, just so Fred could sneak into the kitchens and Y/N could get the movie set up in the common room. She laid out a few blankets and pillows then pushed the couch back a bit, thankful that it was a Wednesday night and most students seemed to have already gone to bed. When Fred returned, he handed Y/N a plate of food then sat down cross-legged beside her, balancing his own plate in his lap.
Y/N started the movie and dug into her food, giggling lightly at Fred’s ravenous way of eating. He had certainly been hungry earlier, but she needed him, so evidently he pushed his hunger aside. When their plates were finished, they stacked them neatly on the table behind them, before completely turning their attention to the movie.
“Okay, wait, who’s the green girl again?” Fred questioned as he pointed towards the screen, brows furrowed.
“If you would pay attention, you would know.” Y/N giggled. “She’s the Wicked Witch of The West.”
“She’s supposed to be a witch?” Fred crinkled up his nose, confusion clear on his face. “I don’t know any green witches.”
“It’s a muggle movie, Fred.” Y/N lightly rolled her eyes.
“And who’s she?”
“Glinda, the good witch.”
“Okay, I definitely know witches don’t dress like that.” Fred teased, eyeing the woman on the screen’s frilly pink dress
“Maybe I should start.” Y/N giggled, pulling the blanket tighter around her shoulders. “Think I could pull it off?”
“Darling, you’d look beautiful in anything.” Fred winked at her, causing her face to heat up. Some part of her knew it was nothing more than harmless joking, but she couldn’t help the way he lit something alive within her.
“Ya think?” Y/N scooted a bit closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder so he couldn’t see her giddy smile.
“I know.” His voice was soft, and the two of them remained quiet for the next few scenes of the movie.
At some point, the two of them had shifted to lay down in order to get more comfortable on the floor. Fred was laying on his back with one hand behind his head, the other resting idly in between them. Y/N was sprawled out on her stomach, her face down by his feet. Every little bit her eyes would light up and she’d glance back to tell him that her favorite part was coming up, only for him to realize that every part seemed to be her favorite part. Still, he never pointed that out, but instead just smiled fondly at her and nodded.
“Ugh.” Y/N grimaced, a slight shiver running down her spine. “Those monkeys always terrified me when I was little.”
“Oh yeah?” Fred sat up now, leaning closer to her. “You scared now?”
“Psh, no.” Y/N rolled her eyes and glanced back over at him, only to find him slowly inching towards her. She pointed a finger out warningly. “Fred, don’t.”
It was no use, Fred’s hands latched themselves to her sides and began tickling her feverishly. Y/N squealed and tried to wriggle out of his grasp, but it was no use. In the process, she had flipped over onto her back and was now kicking her legs out, trying to get him to stop, but that only egged him on further.
“You sure you’re not scared, Y/L/N?” Fred teased. “I could comfort you, if you were.”
“Freddie! Stop!” Y/N breathed out, tears beginning to pool in her eyes from her laughter.
Y/N now had the front of his jumper balled in her fists, trying desperately to get him to stop. After another minute, he did, and her wriggling ceased. Still, he loomed over top of her while she gripped onto his jumper tightly. Both of them were silent as they stared into each other’s eyes, faces only inches apart. For half a second, Y/N swore she saw Fred’s eyes flicker down to her lips, but then she convinced herself she must have dreamed it.
The sounds of the movie seemed to draw them back to the present, and Y/N let go of Fred’s jumper, causing him to sit up. She followed suit, clearing her throat in hopes of easing the tension between them. Fred was never one to let any awkwardness linger, so he nudged her with his elbow before laying back down in the spot he had been before.
“Cuddle up, Y/N. I’ll keep you safe from the big scary winged monkeys.” He winked as he opened his arms for her.
Y/N rolled her eyes lightly, trying desperately to calm the nerves in her stomach, before obliging and cuddling into his side. She let her head rest on his chest, her hand placed just over his heart, as he tightened his arm around her. Y/N found that she couldn’t pay attention to the rest of the movie, what with Fred pulling a blanket up around them and gently stroking her hair. She was lulled to sleep by the action, finding that she wished every night, she could fall asleep in his arms.
The two were startled awake the next morning by a bout of loud laughter. As Y/N quickly sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, she spotted George, fully dressed in his school uniform, gazing down at them with an amused grin. Fred groaned from where he still laid on the floor, pulling a pillow over his face to block out the light.
“And what’s this?” George cocked his head to the side. “You guys are really taking this ‘fake dating’ thing pretty seriously. Honestly, you’ve got me convinced.”
Fred shot up quickly at that, nervously looking around the common room to make sure no one heard. When he realized it was only the three of them, he let out a breath of relief.
“Come off it, will you? We just fell asleep after watching a movie.” Fred shot his brother a glare.
Y/N felt sick at the reminder that everything between them was fake. Every little moment she had foolishly convinced herself could mean something more was nothing but wishful thinking. Drawing in a deep sigh, Y/N forced herself up and gestured for Fred to move with a flick of her wand. Once he obliged, she flicked her wand again and gathered all of the blankets and pillows before pushing the couch back. Without another word, she stalked back up the steps to her dorm, and prepared herself for another long day.
-
When Y/N arrived to the potions classroom, her stomach dropped at the sight of Annalise once again in the seat next to her usual one. She gazed around the room, grumbling slightly when she realized she had no other choice but to sit next to the girl.
“Wow, you look like hell.” Annalise sneered when she trudged over.
“Probably because I was up all night with Fred.” Y/N shot back, before truly registering her words. “Not… Not like that.”
Annalise snorted at the insinuation and rolled her eyes. It seemed she was about to say something, no doubt some snide comment, but was cut off by Snape walking into the room. Y/N straightened up and began to listen to the professor drone on, her stomach twisting in knots when she realized what that day’s lecture would entail. A cauldron sat at the front of the classroom, an alluring steam rising off of it. Y/N knew, it was Amortentia.
After giving a brief lecture on it, Snape used his wand to lift the cauldron in the air, slowly letting it stop by each desk for the students to gaze at. He appeared completely uninterested by the kids’ excitement from what they smelled. Finally, it arrived at Y/N and Annalise’s table.
Y/N leaned forward and took a breath in, her nose being filled with the scent of fireworks, chocolate, and the shampoo Fred used. She sat back in her seat and crossed her arms, not needing the reminder that she felt so deeply for someone who didn’t return her affections.
Annalise leaned forward and breathed in a deep breath, a dreamy smile gracing her face. Her eyes flickered towards the front of the classroom, finding Snape deep in conversation with another Ravenclaw student. Quickly, she pulled an empty glass bottle from her bag and dipped it into the cauldron, filling it entirely.
“What’re you doing?” Y/N hissed, sitting up abruptly.
“I’m gonna use it as perfume. So everyone smells what they’re attracted to on me, and wants to be around me.” Annalise shrugged, placing a cork on the bottle and sliding it back into her bag. Y/N knew she could get in loads of trouble for carrying such a dangerous and potent potion, yet she didn’t speak up to turn her in. “Professor Snape, we’re all done back here!”
And with that, Snape was whisking the cauldron away and carrying on with his lecture. Y/N watched Annalise out of the corner of her eye, certain she was up to something from the glint in her eye. Still, like always, she stayed silent.
-
A week later, all thoughts of Annalise’s odd behavior had completely left Y/N’s mind. She was so caught up in falling for Fred even more each day, she could hardly focus on anything else. The fact that he hadn’t brought up Annalise once since their movie night didn’t go unnoticed to her, and she found herself chasing the familiar hope that maybe he was starting to fall for her too.
“I’ve gotta catch up with Georgie and Lee—they’re still mad I ditched them last week.” Fred informed her as he finished his dinner. “Catch you later?”
She nodded, a bright smile lighting up her face when he swooped down and kissed her cheek before hurrying off. Y/N was so in a daze that she didn’t even notice someone slide in the seat beside her, occupying the space Fred was once in.
“Ah, so you two are still together, are you?” Annalise spoke up, making her presence known. She wore a devilish grin as she feigned a casual act, picking at her nails.
“Obviously.” Y/N rolled her eyes.
“What a shame, I just hate to be the one to tell you this.” She sighed.
“Tell me what?” Y/N’s brows furrowed as she turned to look at Annalise full on.
“Well, I’ve been wearing my perfume, you see.” She craned her neck and circled her hand, gesturing for Y/N to lean in and take a whiff. The smell was undeniable, and as much as she hated being in the presence of her cousin, it kept her reeled in. “Smell Freddie, do you?”
“Why do you care?” Y/N gritted her teeth, hating the way his nickname sounded coming from her mouth.
“Because, he doesn’t smell you.” Annalise shrugged. “In fact, what was it he told me he smelled? Right, fresh ink, my peach shampoo, and… Oh, I can’t remember. It was so hard to pay attention while he was snogging me in that broom closet.”
Y/N instantly dropped the utensils in her hand, ignoring the way they clattered to the ground. The sound drew a few eyes towards them, and Annalise simply smirked at her cousin. Y/N could feel tears welling behind her eyes, but she was also angry. At Fred, for not just telling her that he had finally gotten what he wanted. And at Annalise, for always being so dead set on ruining everything for her.
“What did I ever do to you?” Y/N heard her voice crack, and she felt just as pathetic as Annalise wanted her to feel. When she spoke again, her tone increased significantly. “Why must you always ruin everything for me?”
Some part of her knew she shouldn’t be freaking out, because this had always been the plan. She knew Annalise could never let anything be hers, so she should simply take it in stride and move on. But she couldn’t. She had been so sure that Fred and her were starting to build something real, that she’d finally be with the boy she’d crushed on for years, and now all of that hope was shattered.
“I’m just being a good cousin.” Annalise slapped a hand to her chest, feigning some sort of dignity that she certainly didn’t have. “Really, he was bound to cheat on you at some point. I just made it happen sooner rather than later. You should be thanking me.”
Y/N reached for her wand and gripped it tightly in her fist, ready to point it at her and fire off whatever hex came to mind. In an instant, fear was in Annalise’s eyes and she was cowering back. Professor McGonagall was now rushing forward, shouting her surname and ordering her to stop. In response, Y/N lowered her wand and wiped at her eyes, forcing none of her tears to fall.
“You know what, you’re not even worth it.”
And with that, she was marching out of the Great Hall, ignoring any calls of her name.
-
When Y/N made it back to the common room, she found George, Lee, and Fred gathered around a small table in the corner. A few other students were littered throughout the room, as well. Y/N almost just stormed right up to her dorm, intent on never speaking to Fred again, but she was sick of always letting people treat her like rubbish. So, right as she made it to the base of the steps, she turned on her heels and marched to their table, causing all of their eyes to fall on her.
“Hello, love—”
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” She shouted, pointing an accusatory finger at Fred. “Godric, I know I agreed to help the two of you get together, but cheating on me? Leaving me embarrassed in front of the whole school? What is wrong with you?”
Lee and George glanced at each other with wide eyes before signally towards their steps and quietly sneaking away. This left Fred in open-mouthed shock, gaping at Y/N in all of her fury.
“I don’t know what—”
“And don’t even tell me how it wasn’t really cheating, because we weren’t really together, I know. But the rest of the school doesn’t know that! Annalise doesn’t know that! And now you’ve fed directly into her only wish of making my life utterly horrible.” Y/N fumed, although her hands were shaking slightly. “So, congrats Fred. You finally got the girl. And Annalise got what she wanted, too. Looks like you two are perfect for each other.”
After saying her piece, she quickly turned around and began making her way back towards her steps. She ignored the many sets of bewildered eyes on her, too angry and hurt to even care. She was only stopped by the feeling of Fred gripping onto her wrist and spinning her back around to face him.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Fred searched her eyes. “I didn’t cheat on you, fake or not.”
“But—”
“Annalise yanked me into a broom closet earlier, asking me to smell her neck like a bloody lunatic. So, I did, because I’m always enticed by strange offers.” He quipped with a smile, but when Y/N shot him a pointed look, he became serious once again. “Not the time? Right, okay. So, I smelled her, and I asked if she cornered me in there just to tell me she nicked your perfume, and she got all huffy, so I left. I didn’t cheat on you. I didn’t even mention it because it was too weird to explain.”
“You…” The words got caught in Y/N’s throat, all of her anger leaving her body. “You smelled my perfume?”
“Yeah, and faintly my mum’s roast, but I didn’t question it.” Fred shrugged. “Why?”
Y/N slowly raised a hand up to her mouth, gazing between where his hand still held her wrist and his eyes. Fred had never been very good at potions, so she knew just saying Annalise was wearing ‘Amortentia’ would explain very little.
“She was wearing a love potion, Fred.” Y/N spoke up, much quieter than before. “You smell what you’re attracted to in it.”
In an instant, Fred’s face was a bright shade of red and he quickly dropped her wrist. His eyes dipped down as he avoided her gaze, and Y/N realized this was the first time she’d ever seen him nervous.
“I…” Fred struggled to find words. “I don’t—I mean, I do… But I didn’t want you to—”
“Ask me what I smell in mine.” Y/N urged, cutting off his rambling. Fred shot his head back up at that, looking at her quizzically.
“What do you smell in yours?” There was a hopeful glint behind his eyes, though his words were soft.
“Fireworks, chocolate…” Y/N took a step closer to him. “And your shampoo.”
The second that Fred fully registered what her words meant, he was closing the distance between the two of them. Y/N let out a shocked giggle as he wrapped her up in his arms, pressing his lips fully to hers for the first time. Although she had seen fireworks before, and she had smelled them almost every time Fred and George were around, neither compared to what it was like to feel fireworks. Y/N’s arms wound around his neck as she pulled him closer to her, prepared to live in the moment forever if she could.
When they pulled apart, there was nothing left either of them had to say. Fred could apologize for putting her through hell for the past few weeks, and Y/N could apologize for being so harsh, but that didn’t matter to either of them at the moment. All that mattered, was they both finally realized what had always been right in front of them.
-
Very early on in the start of Y/N and Fred’s real relationship, she finally opened up to him about just how awful Annalise really was. His jaw clenched at everything she told him, and he quickly expressed that he never would’ve wanted to be with her had he known. Y/N assured him she didn’t care, because this time, Annalise truly lost.
Although Y/N had been quick to brush off her feud with her cousin, telling Fred it was best to just leave it alone, she couldn’t say she was surprised when she walked into the Great Hall one morning, finding Annalise cowering at her table with neon green hair. It was the exact shade she had used when they were six to ruin Y/N’s drawing. While Fred and George vehemently denied any involvement in the prank, Y/N simply placed a short kiss to Fred’s lips, and quietly thanked him.

Part two of my modern au. will Daeron ever actually meet the family? I don’t know
The Fëanorian house was big. Daeron probably should have expected it, just given the rumors he had heard before he even met Maglor, but it still surprised him with its immensity. It seemed a vast and artificial thing to him- somewhat unsettling if he was being honest- but the Noldorin leaning had always been toward excess and showmanship rather than the subtle, natural beauty his people preferred, so it was easy to calmly set his nervousness aside as simple culture shock. The lack of green anywhere beyond the perfectly manicured garden out front did make him feel somewhat squirmy inside, though; entering that glass and concrete beast was a daunting thought, even when he tried to explain it away. “We’re here!” Maglor said with a sort of nauseous cheeriness that conveyed no particular optimism. “Last chance to turn back.” Daeron craned his neck to get a look at the upper floors, currently glaring with an echo of the sunset behind them. “Wow.” “Dad designed it. It’s pretty, right?” Maglor actually looked over, read Daeron’s expression, and hastily went on. “Pretty horrible. Yeah. Really bad. Let’s go in.” As Daeron stepped onto the ceramic driveway, he was floored by another revelation: he had always thought Maglor’s car to be quite showy, maybe even to the point of tackiness, but seeing the other eight cars lined up nicely on the drive made him quickly change his mind about the rather conservative little blue Porsche. The first one he noticed was the cherry red supercar- it was hard not to look at it, to be honest, because it resembled a spaceship more than any other vehicle Daeron had ever seen. If he was ever unlucky enough to be standing behind it when someone turned the engine on, he’d pretty sure he’d get his eyebrows burned off or something. There was a Rolls-Royce parked next to it, painted a more subtle shade of midnight purple. Behind the two, a restored muscle car sat alongside an old hot rod, both opposite shades of green that made Daeron feel itchy to look at for some reason, and then came the pickup truck. It was the tallest car he had ever seen, iridescent black-to-green, and fitted with a downright obscene array of racks, lights, and speciality equipment, and with a deer skull mounted to the hood. One yellow Jeep and a small grey SUV looked very out of place at the front of the driveway even though they absolutely should not. Maglor had noticed him looking, so he pointed out who each car belonged to, but Daeron was so overwhelmed that everything went completely over his head. He did manage to pick out that the normal-looking ones belonged to Maedhros and to Maglor’s mother, though, and that was the only thing his overwhelmed brain could think of clinging onto. At least two of these people were a little bit normal-ish, at least. He could do this. While he stood staring at the cars, Maglor went on ahead, and he had to scurry to catch up. “Aren’t your parents divorced?” “Yeah.” Maglor gave him a look like that was the dumbest question he’d ever heard. For just a brief moment, Daeron worried it was, until he remembered which of them had a better handle on average family dynamics (ironically, it was the one without a family). “Then why is your mom coming to dinner?” “Why wouldn’t she?” They stopped in front of a big metal door, on what was the most intimidating porch he had ever seen. “She comes every month.” Daeron started to tell him that was weird, but Maglor was already reaching out to open the door, and he didn’t want to be overheard, so he just canned it and tried to look polite. As soon as the knob turned, Daeron was attacked by what appeared to be a red-brown blur. It burst from the cracked door and rammed into his chest with enough force to easily through him to the concrete, and Daeron couldn’t muffle a cry when he saw the glint of cruel yellow teeth and eyes belonging to a creature that knew exactly where it had to bite to end his life. Hot breath panted across his face, and a single line of drool drizzled nicely across the bridge of his nose. He was about to actually scream when he heard a sharp whistle and an even sharper voice. “Huan!” Immediately the creature bounded off Daeron’s chest and pranced out of sight. He only realized it was a dog when he saw the bristle tail swishing happily behind it. Maglor appeared above him instead, face swimming with concern. “Oh Valar. Are you okay?” “Sorry, chief!” Someone shouldered Maglor out of the way to fill Daeron’s view himself. One of the brothers already. Wonderful. “He’s still a puppy. Thinks everyone wants to play. I’m sure you know how that is!” The newcomer had the same basic facial features as Maglor, but he looked sharper all over, from the jaw to the cheekbones, even the teeth. When he grinned, Daeron got the impression he was a rabbit being played with before the meal. His hair was an unusual shade of pale blond, not quite Sindar silver, which Daeron had never seen on a Noldo before. It was almost white and caught the red of the sunset like melted wax. When Daeron realized he was being offered a hand, he took it and let Mystery Fëanorian Number One lift him to his feet. “You must be Mags’s new guy, huh?” The predatory grin flashed again. It was probably supposed to be disarming, but it put Daeron so on edge he jumped when the man clapped him on the shoulder. “Sindar, huh? Excellent. Amrod is going to owe me thirty bucks. Hey, Caranthir really isn’t going to like this, Mags.” He glanced around Daeron to where Maglor was standing stiff and awkward, face a mask of horrified embarrassment. “Dad probably won’t either.” “Celegorm...” Maglor finally groaned. His brother didn’t let him finish. “Hey, either of you want a smoke?” He tugged a pack of cigarettes from the pocket of his worn-down jeans and held it towards the two of them. Because he was wearing just a white t-shirt that looked like it hadn’t been washed in a couple weeks, Daeron could see plenty of exposed skin, and the tattoos that covered Celegorm head to toe. Lots of deers, trees, wolves, and the like, though he did spot a rifle or two and a couple naked ladies as well. He had the words “WOLF PACK” printed across his knuckles. “No, thank you,” Maglor said flatly as he reached over to rest his hands on his boyfriend’s shoulders. Daeron relaxed just a little bit at the touch. “Suit yourself.” Celegorm shrugged. He patted his thigh and the massive red dog came trotting over again; Daeron swore it gave him a dirty look as it followed its master by. “Have fun in there,” called Celegorm over his shoulder. “It’s just starting to kick off.” Daeron waited until he and his dog had wandered out of earshot before he managed a few strangled words. “Is he the one who... fucked Oromë?” “Yep, that’s him.” Daeron stared, dumbfounded, and slowly shook his head. “Charming.” “Do you still want to go inside?” Maglor asked weakly, and Daeron just nodded. He had come this far. Time to dive in.

Part 1      Part 2      Part 3      Part 4
*Tom’s POV*
Sometimes you meet someone, and it’s so clear that the two of you, on some level belong together. As lovers, or as friends, or as family, or as something entirely different. You just work, whether you understand one another or you’re in love or you’re partners in crime. You meet these people throughout your life, out of nowhere, under the strangest circumstances, and they help you feel alive. I don’t know if that made me believe in coincidence, or fate, or sheet blind love, but it definitely made me believe in something. And it was true love.
I spent the last two weeks with sitting by my phone, waiting for her to call or text me. I even went to see her at the lake house, but I could never make myself to get out of my car and knock on the door. I knew her better than that. She had to be alone and away from everyone and everything. So, even if it literally killed me, not hearing from her, I was more than willing to mop around my house and wait. Why? Because I deep down in my heart I knew that I was waiting for something great.
So when I opened my door in the middle of the night, and saw her standing there, I knew it was worth it. She was there. Smiling slightly and shyly at me, like it was the first time we met each other. And in a way it was the first time. The first time before a new chapter. A whole new adventure.
If it were up to me, I’d have married her right there. I’d have started my life with her. We’d have gone out and buy that piece of land I wanted so badly, built our dream house. We’d have had sex, cuddled by the fireplace and eat breakfast together in the morning. Go to work, and rush to get home just we could see each other. Eventually have a dozen of babies, and fight over whose parents we were naming them after. Buy another dog, so Willow wouldn’t feel alone. Celebrate our 10 years anniversary. Get in those bad fights, but make up after a day or so. Continue to surprise each other, watch the sunset from our front porch every now and then. Watch out babies graduate and start their lives. Retire. Meet our grandchildren. Hold each other every night and never forget the love that started this all. If it were up to me, I would have started that adventure with her right then.
I couldn’t say a word. I just kept looking and her beautiful face. Admiring how amazingly good she looked without any makeup on. She was a woman who wasn’t afraid to show her imperfections. And I loved that fact that I could be by her side through that long and painful journey. The journey where she learnt to finally love herself. Truly.
“So you chose me?” I finally asked the dumbest question ever. She was standing right in front of me. But I had to hear her saying it. I needed to.
“Yeah, you. It will always be you, don’t you get it? If I had the choice between you and a million things I’ve always wanted, I would choose you every single time” she said slowly, so I could fully understand her. And in that moment, I was the happiest man on Earth.
There’s a moment between a glance and a kiss. Where the world stops for the briefest of times. And the only thing between us is anticipation of her lips on mine. A moment so intense it hands in the air as it pulls us closer. A moment, so perfect that when it comes to and end we realize it’s only just the beginning. So I grabbed her by the neck and kissed her. Just kissed her so deep she forgot whose air she was breathing. Her kissed melted me like no one else ever had and I just wanted her to know how much I loved her.
“Come on in” I smiled at her after our lips finally parted “I wasn’t the only one who missed you”
I took her hand in mine and pulled her in the house. Willow was already sitting by the bottom of the stairs, patiently waiting to finally be able to see our guest. When I stepped out of her way and she saw Y/N kneeling down and calling out her name, she wasted to time and ran into her arms.
“Hey, girl” Y/N tried to keep Willow away from her face, but my doggie was too happy to finally see her again. She licked her face and hands and jumped on her. I didn’t blame her. I wanted to keep kissing and hugging her. But I knew she needed to talk to me, so I made my way to the kitchen and started to prepare our cups of tea, and gave them time to enjoy each other company for a while.
“I see you kept that terrible painting” she said from behind me. I look at her above my shoulders to see her pointing to the honestly terrible painting on the wall. I chuckled at the memory of her being blindfolded, sitting in front of the canvas and holding the brush in her hand, waiting for me to give her the instructions. We painted it on our little weekend getaway in Rome. Aaron was away for almost a month, so we could do anything we wanted. I remember how stressed she had been because of her final thesis, so after she turned it in, I surprised her with that little trip.
“Tom, wait” she laughed behind me as she tried to catch up. We just had a romantic candle light dinner at the small local restaurant. Beside us, there was only two other couple, enjoying the delicious Italian pasta with a bottle of amazing wine next to the scented candles and the red and white tablecloth. We already had a bottle of wine, but we drank one more after dessert as well. After we paid, I had a great idea, I was just hoping I could find the right shop still open to buy the equipment.
“Hurry up, baby” I called after her “We don’t have much time and I’m sure it’s going to be raining in a couple of minutes”
I told her to wait for me outside of the shop and quickly bought everything I need for my plan. I had always wanted to do this with someone, but never had the chance to do it. I wanted to do it with someone who I knew was going to enjoy it. And I knew for sure Y/N was type who liked the most unexpected and clichĂŠ things.
I grabbed her hand and basically dragged her with me. I was full with energy and the night was still young. There were a lot of things in my mind. Like my little plan, maybe another bottle of wine, and sweet love making with her in the candle lit living room.
“Alright, Felton” she stopped in front of me when we entered our rented flat “Tell me what you have in mind!”
“Go and put on a shirt you don’t mind ruining” I smiled at her and put down the bag on the kitchen counter. She just shook her head and turned around to go and get changed. I couldn’t keep my hand to myself, so softly and teasingly slapped her ass. I respected her. I loved her. But I was a man and she was the most beautiful and the hottest woman I had ever met. So there were times when I couldn’t control the wide caveman in me. But she knew me better, so these things were never offensive in her eyes.
She came back a couple of minutes later in one of my old shirts she had stolen from me like a month ago. She liked to hang out in it, play with Willow in it. I didn’t mind, it was an old shirt and I barley wore it anymore. But it looked amazing in her.
“So?” she wrapped her arms around my waist and stood on her tiptoes to kiss my lips shortly.
“Sit down, darling” I nodded to the chair and picked up her scarf from her bag “Do you trust me?”
“Of course” she said without hesitation. She sat down and waited. I carefully blindfolded her and poured paint on the palette for her “Why is it if you have something in mind, it always comes with something messy?”
“I just love to make a mess” I laughed and placed a brush in her hand “Believe me, you’re going to love this”
I stood behind her and bend down a little so my mouth was the same level as her ears. I kissed the soft skin behind her ear, and I could hear her breathing quickening. This was amazing.
“Take the brush and dug it in paint” I whispered slowly, letting my breath tickling her skin. She slowly breathed out and obeyed my command. She held the brush, ready to paint, only waiting for my next instruction “Good girl”
“Now, touch the canvas with it gently and paint a straight line from down to up” I put one of my hands on her bare thigh and squeezed it gently. She did as she was asked.
“Hmmm” I stroked her skin “Now, dug in the paint again” my fingers were dancing on her inner thigh “And paint dots on the rhythm of my fingers on your skin”
“And now, paint a circle” I told her. She almost dropped the brush when I started kissing her neck. A smirked to myself, knowing very well that she was close to lose it and turn around to kiss me. She almost did, but I stopped her “Ah no no no, baby girl. Where’s the circle?”
“Tom” she moaned as my fingers went further up on her thigh. I bit on her neck to show her who was in control “Fuck” she whispered my painted the circle nonetheless.
It went like this for a bit more. Me, teasing her and giving her the instructions, and her, trying her very best to not show everything of the table and push me against it.
“It’s terrible” I said when I looked at the final picture. There was no concept at all. Just random colours and random lines, dots and circles. But we made it. I put a little paint on my finger and left my fingerprint at the bottom right corner. I took Y/N’s finger and did the same, right next to mine.
“Do you want to take a look, baby girl?” I whispered in her ear, and that was the last straw. She tore the scarf and throw it away, not giving a damn if it landed in paint or not. She turned around and crashed her lips on mine. This kiss wasn’t gentle at all. It was wild, eager and passionate. When she finally looked me in the eye after the kiss, I could tell we were thinking about the same thing. Her eyes were dark from lust, and there was the dangerous flame in them that I loved so much. She only glanced at the painting for a brief moment.
“It really is terrible” she said and stood in front of me “But now, take me to the bedroom”
“You don’t have to ask me twice” I smiled at her and picked up. Her legs were wrapped around me, and I was sure she could feel everything. We made love for the first time that night. And it was the most amazing night. Little did I know, it was the first out of a lot more.
“It happens that I like it a tiny bit” I winked at her and handed her a cup of tea “I reckon you’d like to talk about a few things, right?”
“Yeah, I think we should” she nodded and went to the living room, Willow following her right away. Y/N sat down, and she immediately laid down by her feet. I joined my girls on the sofa and waited.
“I had a lot of time to think. And I talked to my brother a lot about these feelings that were building up in me” she started and never broke eye contact “I told him everything. About you and me…”
I took a sharp breath. Definitely not how I wanted to be introduced to her family.
“He took it quite well. All he wanted to know if you made me happy and treated my right” she smiled at me “When I assured him that you were literally treating me like a princess, he wished us nothing bet the best. Also, he said something very thoughtful. When I was telling him about how long I had been searching for someone who loved him, and someone I could love, he told me that love is not something you go out and look for. Love finds you, and when it does, ready or not, it’ll be the best thing to ever happen to you”
It was true. The best love is unexpected. You don’t just pick someone and cross your fingers it’ll work. You meet them by fate and it’s an instant connection, and the chemistry share is way above your head. You just talk and notice the way their lips curve when they smile or the colour of their eyes and all at once you know you’re either lucky or screwed. In our case, we were both. We met at the wrong time, but still. We made it work. Not in the most respectful and fair way, but we didn’t let go.
“But you’re still scared” I took her shaking hand in my and squeezed it to calm her down. She didn’t have anything to be afraid it. It was me, who she was talking to, after all “It’s okay. I’m scared too, and I don’t know why. Maybe I’m scared because you mean more to me than any other person. You are everything I think about, everything I need and everything I want.”
“So, what now?” she scooted closer to me, and rested her head on my shoulder. I kissed the top of her head and hugged her tight. I wanted her to know I wasn’t going anywhere. I was there for the long run.
“I think it’s finally our time” I tilted her head up by her chin and kissed her slowly. Yes, it was our time. And I was going to make every second of it worth it.

*Y/N’s POV*
When I was a little kid, I loved going to weddings. God knows how many times I was asked to be a flower girl or a bridesmaid. All the decoration, the music, the spirit of true love mesmerized me, and I often find myself imagining my own wedding. I still remember the beautiful white and blush pink decoration with the fairy lights and roses all around the huge mansion. The beautiful ball gown wedding dress, made for me. But this time, everything was different. The huge, modern chalet which we rented for the reception was decorated with deep dark green and silver decoration, and the candles in the black wrought iron holders give and edgy but romantic feeling to the whole decoration.
From the room, which was assigned to be the dressing room for my flower girls, bridesmaids and I had the best view at the backyard. The chairs were covered with silver chair skirts, tied around with a beautiful, dark green ribbon. The trees were so colourful, due to the season, and fairy lights decorated them. Candles were already lit, and followed the way from the back porch’s staircase to the wedding arch, which was made out of evergreens and fairy lights. Everything was perfect.
“How are you feeling, darling?” my Mum asked me from the armchair. I looked at myself in the mirror, and admired the dress I was wearing. It was a simple bright white satin wedding dress, which hugged my body like a waterfall. The straps were made of small diamond-like crystals and fall down on my back, like they were the back of my dress. It was simple, but I felt like I was the most beautiful woman in the whole world.
“Like I want to run down the aisle and finally marry him” I smiled at her. This time, there were no bad feelings, I was shaking from fear. I was sure I was about to make the best decision. I played with my silver bracelet. The single teardrop shaped pearl wasn’t lonely anymore. There were other charms from the places we visited in the last couple of years.
“I’ll go and get your Dad than” Mum kissed my cheek and left me to find my Dad.
I took a deep breath and looked outside again. Family and friends were already sitting, and my flower girls and bridesmaid were waiting by the aisle to walk down before me. I could see a familiar dirty blond hair, talking with his best man and friends near the altar. For so long I thought marriage wasn’t for me. Even when I was with Aaron. But I realized it was for me. And it was with that man, with the most mesmerizing blue eyes and bright smile. With that man, who was the most beautiful person I had even met in my entire life. Sometimes I just looked at him and thought how lucky I was that he was mine.
“Let’s get you married” my Dad said as he entered the room with the biggest smile on his face “No cold feet?”
“No cold feel” I answered and laced my hand with his.
*start the song now*
The first accords started to play when the musicians saw me and Dad arriving. Suddenly, all eyes were on me, and I could feel myself getting emotional, tears blurring my vision. The sun was just setting, and the lights of the trees and the little path made out of candles made the whole scene look magical.
But the most magical part was the man who was waiting for me at the end of the aisle. We were looking at each other, not caring about our families and friends around us. I only see him. He, in his pitch black suit with the silver tie witch complemented his bright blue eyes. He had the most beautiful smile on his face, and I had to stop myself from running up to him and kiss him. Nothing was stopping us now.
We were halfway down when I could see it. He was crying and smiling at the same time. Damn, I was the luckiest girl in the world.
“Take care of my little girl” I tried so hard to stop myself from crying, but when my Dad placed my hand in my soon to be husband’s, I could help but let a few tears escape.
The ceremony was beautiful. The speech the registrar said was true, emotional and a little bit funny, but the whole time I was lost in the most beautiful eyes. I couldn’t look away. I didn’t want to. I was looking at my future.
“Ladies and gentleman” the registrar spoke “It’s time for this two beautiful and in love people to take their vows.
Tom’s niece stepped closer and handed him my ring, which he almost dropped because his hand was shaking so much. I chuckled and whispered a tiny ‘I love you’ to calm him down. He cleared his throat and looked back at me. We immediately get lost in each other’s eyes.
“I, Thomas Andrew, take you, Y/N Y/M/N to be my friend, my lover, the mother of my children and my wife. I will be yours in times of plenty and in times of want, in times of sickness and in times of health, and in times of joy and in times of sorrow, in times of failure and in times of triumph. I promise to cherish and respect you, to care and protect you, to comfort and encourage you, and stay with you, for all eternity” he smiled at me “I’d love nothing more than to stumble through life with you”
He slowly slipped the ring on my finger and gently kissed my hand, before wiping away a few of his tears. I took his ring from our niece and kissed the top of her head before she returned to her father’s side with a huge smile.
“I, Y/N Y/M, take you Thomas Andrew, to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish out union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.” I winked at him and said the last line of my vow “I’d love nothing more than to stumble through life with you”
I slipped the ring on his finger and from that moment, that wasn’t power on Earth that could have stopped me from crying. I didn’t care how ugly I looked crying or if my makeup was a mess. I was his wife. And he was my husband.
“Y/N and Tom” the registrar smiled at us “You came here today to affirm your love for one another and formally acknowledge that which your hearts already knew…”
Tom and I both chuckled, thinking about how our love started.
“That your lives are meant to be shared as one, that you are stronger together than you are apart, and that, for all your days yet to come, you wish to share together all life’s joys and challenges, committed one to the other”
She took a breath and with true joy in his voice he continued.
“I now pronounce you Husband and Wife! You can now kiss the bride”
He didn’t waste a second. Tom picked me up and kissed me passionately. He didn’t have to say anything. Everything was in our first kiss as husband and wife. And it was the sweetest kiss we had ever shared.
***
We were standing on the porch, watching our friends and now shared family having the time of their lives. Drinking, eating, dancing, bonding and laughing. It was perfect. Just the way we imagined our wedding. We spent almost a year planning it, Tom helping with everything, sometimes being even more excited than me. He never skipped a meeting with our wedding planner. He was really there for me. And he was the one who planned our honeymoon. No matter how many times I asked, or how I tried to trick him to tell me where we were going, he kept it as a secret. Always saying it was a gift.
“You’re still not telling me, right?” I looked up at him. We had been standing there for quite a while now, just hugging each other, staring into each other’s eyes and sharing sweet kisses as a married couple.
“Nope” he kissed my forehead and pulled me even closer. I could feel and hear his heart beating against his chest.
“I have a gift for you too” I pulled away and stepped into to house to grab the little silver envelope from my bag. My hands were shaking and I was terrified to give it to him. But also, I was excited “There’s one thing you have been wanting for so long. And I’ve been holding this is my dresser for a few weeks now, so excuse me for not giving you the latest one, but I really hope you’re going to love it.”
He took the envelope from me and opened it gently. He slowly pulled out the small, black and white picture with a red hear shaped sticker on the middle of it, framing the bean sized dot.
“Is that…?” his blue eyes were filled with tears “Are you? Are we having a…?
“A baby?” I asked with tears in my eyes too “Yeah, we are. I’m pregnant”
“I’m going to be a Dad” he yelled and picked me up for the second time today. He twirled around with me and showered my face with kisses. I was sobbing like a little baby. He was so happy. I knew how badly he wanted to be a father, and his dream was finally coming true.
“Never in a million years did I think I’d find someone so utterly and completely perfect, someone who would make me happier than I ever dreamed I could be. Someone that would touch my life so profoundly and just give me a whole new reason to breathe. But then I found you and realized that everything I anticipated you to be doesn’t even compare who you are.” he held my face in his hands. The amount of love I felt for that man was almost unbearable. I smiled at him and kissed him softly. I knew that no matter what was waiting for us, we were going to be okay because we had each other. He taught me so many things. He helped me to love myself. But most importantly, with him by my side, I could finally tell what true love felt like.

Summary: You distract Oscar from the fight with his father and take his mind off of the fact that he left again, helping him be happy if only for a short moment.
Freeridge was nothing like the neighborhood you had grown up in, of that much you were sure, and it was tough for you to get used to the big change considering the heavy circumstances under which you had been forced to move.
You had grown up in a really nice neighborhood, surrounded by rich, upper-class snobs pretty much your entire life. You had lived in a big, white villa and attended a fancy private school and never had to worry about anything in your entire life.
Your parents were both deadbeats, having abandoned you when you were still very young to be raised by your single grandfather, but you couldn’t bring yourself to complain about it no matter how much it had scarred you, because you knew that you lived a life that others could only dream of.
But that all changed when your grandfather lost his two-year-long battle against cancer and you were left entirely on your own.
He left everything he owned to your name in his will but you had to take it all and pay off his last hospital bills and funeral and even then, it wasn’t enough to pay off the ridiculously large sums and you were forced to sell his house.
It pained you to do so, with all of the memories you had in the place, but you knew you had to move on from the past and start a new chapter of your life, and you wouldn’t have been able to afford to keep that big of a house, anyway.
So you sold it and started looking for a new place, and Jasmine had wasted no time in jumping to your rescue when you came out short in your search.
She was a longtime friend of yours, the two of you having met online and kept in touch on a daily basis over the course of four years, way before your grandfather got his diagnosis.
You had found her a bit strange to a start. She was a few years younger than you and she over-shared to the point that you knew that she had a birthmark in the shape of a pear in her groin and that she had a heavy blood-flow during her monthlies – mind you, you found this out already during the first week of knowing her.
She wasn’t shy, that much was for sure.
But in the end, it was her strange personality that made you like her, and it was also because of her that you grew out of the shy, held back bubble you had been trapped in since early in your traumatizing childhood.
She was loyal and always there for you, as were you for her. You were pretty much each other’s only real friends, despite the large age gap. You knew that people her own age made fun of her, and she knew that you had a very hard time trusting people, and you adjusted yourselves to properly be able to be there for one another.
So, of course, it was a given that she was there for you when you needed to find a new home, too.
You had talked to her dad on a few occasions over video chat and he had been the one kind enough to find you a house for sale in Freeridge.
It wasn’t nearly as big as your childhood home had been and it was in a pretty bad shape, with flaky paint and broken plumbing, but you managed to make it feel like home with the help of your grandfather’s furniture, and either way, it was just big enough for just you.
It didn’t take long for you to learn first-hand how tight and supportive the community in a less-fortunate neighborhood really was when Dwayne Turner turned up at your doorstep to offer you a job at his barbeque restaurant without ever having spoken a word to you, only having heard about you and your need for a stable income in order to pay for your studies from Jasmine’s dad.
Neighbors were constantly helping out, doing each other favors and opening their homes to people in need of a roof over their head, and you felt more at home there than you ever had in your old neighborhood.
There, everything was about money. Whether it was about having a more expensive breed of dog, a faster car or bigger jewels, people were always trying to be better than each other. Over there, there was no such thing as celebrating each other’s success, something your grandfather had never stood beside.
You knew he would have liked Freeridge, despite the high criminal activity and dangerous streets. He would have liked the solidarity, selflessness and connection between people.
Jasmine had rounded up all of her friends, including Cesar who you found out was living right across the street, and they had spent the entire day helping you move your things in.
Cesar and Jamal had been quick to offer to repaint the front wall of the house, and you had left them alone at the house to go pick up some paint.
Oscar had come home from an odd job when you were gone, finding his little brother and all of his friends busying themselves with carrying boxes inside the house on the other side of the street, right across from theirs.
Him and his fellow Santos had made themselves comfortable in the couch in front of the house, watching from a distance as a shiny, red car drove up the street and parked right in front of the house as the driveway was already occupied by another, cheaper car.
The beautiful car had instantly caught Oscar’s interest and it had piqued even higher when he watched you step outside with a can of paint in your hand, his brother coming up and grabbing it from you almost instantly.
That’s how you had first met the infamous Spooky, leader of the Santos. He had wasted no time in getting out of his seat and crossing the street to introduce himself to you, asking questions about your car.
It was a Pontiac LeMans from 1969, painted in a pristine coat of maroon with a glittery hint to it. It was beautiful and in a condition that almost made it look like it had never been touched, not a dent or scratch in sight and tires, rims and interior in perfect condition.
It was the only thing aside from some furniture that you had kept of your grandfather’s, but of course you didn’t tell Oscar that, not wanting to bore him with your sob story.
Your shared interest in cars was the first conversation you ever had with each other.
After interrogating you about your grandpa’s car, he showed you his 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS, briefly introducing you to the Santos still sitting around on the couch, watching you, before Jasmine and Ruby came and stole you back.
After that first day, Jasmine and her friends kept coming over to your house almost every day. You cooked for them and gave them a place to hold the strange meetings they had ever so often and drove them around when they needed to go somewhere and Spooky and Ruby’s abuela weren’t available.
They had you wrapped around their fingers but you didn’t mind. They were like the younger siblings you never had and you owed it to Jasmine after the way she had been there for you every day for four years.
When Cesar was alienated by his brother and his gang, you offered him a place to stay for as long as it was safe, keeping it a secret from Oscar whenever you happened to bump into him.
He didn’t find out that you had been giving his brother shelter before the shit with the Prophets was cleared and he allowed him back home, but when he did, he thanked you, and you and Cesar remained close after having spent so much time together.
You didn’t hold a particular friendship with the gang leader even though you considered each other mutuals, but that all changed when his dad returned home after being released from prison.
He was offered a job at Dwayne’s restaurant already on his first day back just like you had, making you co-workers.
He was a good cook and he talked fondly about Oscar and Cesar a lot during your days working together.
You could hear in his voice when he talked about them how much he really loved them, but you also knew he had a lot of internal battles that came in the way of him showing that in the right way.
You liked him despite his mistakes, but you could also understand why Oscar would resent him. He had left him and Cesar to fend for themselves just like your parents had left you and you understood his anger.
Cesar was over the moon to have his dad back in his life but Oscar couldn’t even bear to be in the same house as him when he was home, which originally was what drove him to you.
You had offered him to come inside for a beer one night when seeing him storm out of the house, being able to put two and two together when seeing Ray looking after him in the window, and he had accepted.
You didn’t talk about his dad. In fact, you stayed as far away from the subject of parents as you possibly could as you could see that it wasn’t something he wanted to be reminded off more than necessary.
Instead, you talked about your studies to become a nurse, and he told you about how good he had been doing in high school before he was forced to step up and raise his brother.
At the end of that night, you had learned that he had won the spelling bee two years in a row in seventh and eighth grade, that he liked to cook and swim, and that his favourite kind of donut was the ones with sprinkles on top.
They weren’t the deepest or most significant things to know, but even the dumbest person on earth would have been able to understand that it was a big deal that someone like Spooky was opening up at all, so you took what you could get.
He luckily didn’t ask about your family either, probably because he knew that you would ask him too if he did. But you were glad that he didn’t because no matter how much you loved hanging around Jasmine and the others, Oscar was the first acquaintance you had made that was your own age.
It felt nice to be able to be at the same level as someone and you didn’t want that to be ruined by him finding out that you were a former uptown girl who had been spoiled to bits throughout your entire life while he had been fighting to make ends meet every day of his life since he was probably very young.
You knew rich people weren’t very smiled upon in these parts and you understood why. Most of them were truly horrible.
That first night you had spent together hadn’t been the last by far. Whenever he needed a distraction from the jealousy and anger that came naturally when watching Cesar having so much fun with their dad, he would come right to you.
Some nights you talked, but most of the times you barely said a word to one another, sitting silently side by side in your backyard with a beer each, looking up at the sky.
On this day in particular you were taking the nice weather to your advantage by sitting outside and studying for your upcoming exam about the muscles of the body.
The sun was blinding, forcing you to wear a pair of really dark sunglasses, but the sun was soon about to set.
Jasmine had been by for lunch a few hours ago when Cesar, Monse, Jamal and Ruby had, once again, excluded her from their shady activities, but unfortunately she had to leave pretty quickly when her internship shift at the police station started, again leaving you in your lonesome.
Your concentration was starting to waver after a good hour and a half in the sun despite the fact that the only sounds that could be heard were the light breeze going through the leaves of the trees and the chirping of birds.
The words in your book seemed to blur together and you soon realized that you wouldn’t be getting any more studying done on this afternoon.
You closed the book after a final minute of trying to regain your concentration and dropped it on the glass table in front of you. Letting out a loud and long sigh, you slid down in your chair and closed your eyes, enjoying the last minutes of sunshine.
Just then, the sound of a door opening rather violently across the street cut through the peaceful air, and your head instantly turned to look at the Diaz residence where Ray was now walking out with a bag in his hand, Oscar marching after him while yelling loudly.
“Everything bad that’s ever happened in my life is because of you! You’re gonna crush him the same way you crushed me!” Oscar yelled out and you instantly connected the dots; the angry and hurt look on Oscar’s face along with the bag Ray was holding.
Ray stopped, looking down at the ground. Oscar kept talking, his voice now too low for you to be able to catch what he was saying, but whatever it was caused Ray to turn back around.
As Oscar kept talking, Ray walked back over to him, stopping right in front of him, and you watched as Oscar’s face suddenly screwed up in pain, tears now evident in his eyes as he spoke.
Before you knew it, Ray had wrapped his arms around his shoulder, pulling him into an embrace.
Oscar responded by hesitantly wrapping his arms around his dad and just for the slightest moment, your heart jumped with hope that they were resolving things, but then Oscar violently tore himself out of the embrace and shoved him away.
The sight forced you to turn your head away, the guilt of invading their private moment finally catching up with you, along with the hurt you felt for Oscar.
You looked down at the ground for a few seconds, gulping down the tears that were building up in your eyes as the situation hit so close to home for you.
Your pulse was beating in your ears and you carefully turned your head back to look at them, finding that Ray was now once again walking away from the house.
Your eyes met his briefly as he walked past your house, but he quickly averted his gaze out of shame, knowing you had witnessed the entire thing.
As he walked away from the scene, you moved your gaze to Oscar who was still standing in front of his house, finding that he was already looking at you.
Your eyes connected and you swallowed simultaneously, his Adam’s apple bobbing and his face stern as he was obviously trying to hold back the tears.
You slowly and hesitantly raised your hand in a small wave at him, and when you did, he seemed to break out of the trance he had been in and turned around, furiously storming back inside, the front door slamming shut behind him.
You remained still in your seat for a moment after that, thinking over what you had just witnessed.
You had been lucky enough to only be abandoned once by your parents, but Oscar had just been abandoned another time, and who knows how many other times before this he had been walked out on.
Your heart bled for him, and you suddenly felt a desperate need to take his pain away, so you stood up from your seat with your book in hand and walked inside.
You dropped the book on the table in the hallway and walked into the kitchen where you picked up the keys to your grandpa’s car – that had been standing in the garage ever since you moved in -  and turned right back around, returning outside and quickly locking up the front door before heading across the road.
Before you knew it, you were standing in front of Oscar’s door, contemplating whether or not you should actually disturb him right now.
But you knew that the worst thing that could happen was that he would get angry at you and when there was a slight chance that you could distract him for a while, that didn’t seem all too bad.
So before you could change your mind, you raised your hand and knocked three times on the door. The sound of heavy footsteps reached your ears within a second and the door was almost instantly flung open.
Oscar towered over you where he now stood in the doorway, tracks of dried tears visible on his tanned cheeks. He looked at you with a glare, as if he had known it was you before he even opened the door.
"What do you want?" He wasted no time in spitting out, squaring his shoulders that you knew without a doubt in your mind was his way to cover up his vulnerability.
You were at loss at words for a moment. You had expected him to be unwelcoming given the circumstances, but his tone still managed to stun you, as it was always so easy going when you talked otherwise.
But you quickly regained your composure, trying to look as unsympathetic as possible. “Do you want to go on a ride?” You asked, tilting your head slightly and fiddling with the keys in your hands. “I promise I won’t ask questions."
His glare hardened at your words. "I don't need your pity." He said, glowering down at you, but for some reason, you didn’t find him intimidating at all.
"Good.” You agreed, the words coming more easily to you now. “Because you're not getting it." You mustered a smile at him, trying to keep a playful hint to your tone in an attempt to ease the situation.
But his glare didn’t waver even for a second and the next thing you knew, he had taken a step back into the house and started shutting the door in your face.
Before it could close, however, you hurried and stuck your foot in between the door and the doorframe. You could see his furious face through the small crack of the door and held up the keys in your hand, your eyes pleading.
"I'll let you drive my car."
He stared at you for a good few seconds, before kissing his teeth and opening the door wider again, snatching the keys from your hand and angrily marching past you towards your house, the door slamming shut behind him.
You were forced to run in order to keep up with his long strides, and wordlessly opened the door to the garage once you came back to your house.
Oscar didn’t utter a single word to you as he walked to the driver’s side of the car and got in behind the wheel, leaving you to find your own way to the passenger side.
Once you were both situated, he stuck the keys into the ignition and turned them.
You watched his face from the side silently, taking in the way his eyes flickered with much more positive emotion for a just a second as he listened to the engine of the car roar alive.
It was only a brief change of attitude, but it was enough to have you smiling as he backed the car out of the garage; it was the first time it was driven since your first day in Freeridge.
You sped down the streets of Los Angeles, the roof of the car down and your hair whipping around in the air.
The dark had now fallen and you hadn’t spoken a word to each other since leaving, but you could feel Oscar slowly starting to relax in his seat beside you.
After an hour of just driving around with no particular destination in mind, you told him to make a right to take you back to Freeridge, and not long after, you found yourself pulling up in front of the neighborhood pool.
As he turned the car off, you wasted no time in opening your door and getting out, slamming it shut behind you.
You turned around to look at him, meeting his wary eyes, and flashed him a grin, nodding your head backward. “Come on.” You urged him, and he narrowed his eyes, letting his gaze flicker from you to the fence behind you.
“It’s closed.” He said, speaking for the first time in over an hour.
You snorted as he stated the obvious. “No shit.”
He gave you a look but didn’t question you any further, following your lead and getting out of the car, making sure to take the keys out of the ignition.
You turned back around and headed right for the fence, gripping at the wires. As he came up behind you, you turned your head to the side and threw him a look over your shoulder. “Hoist me up.”
His eyebrows raised in surprise, but his eyes were amused. “You a criminal now?” He questioned and you smirked.
“I’m hanging out with the leader of a gang, what’s a little break-in in comparison to that?”
He hummed, as if to say ‘good point’, and bent down by the knees, clasping his hands and allowing you to put your foot in his grasp.
He hoisted you up like requested with barely any struggle at all and wasted no time in jumping over the fence himself once you were successfully standing on the other side.
When his feet hit the ground, you were already walking straight for the pool, where lights were lighting up the water and casting a blue shimmer all around the entire area, making it look near magical.
By the time Oscar had caught up to you, you had already removed your shoes and pulled up the legs of your pants, your feet now dangling in the water.
He followed your example, pulling the legs of his grey sweatpants up to his knees and kicking his shoes to the side, dipping his feet into the water as he sat himself down beside you.
You sat in silence for a while, your eyes trained on the small ruffles of the water in front of you and your hands gripping the edge of the pool, your feet swirling around.
Crickets were chirping by then and was the only sound you could hear aside from the sound of the water hitting the walls of the pool.
Turning your head to the side slightly, your eyes fell upon Oscar’s profile. He was staring down into the water just like you had been doing only seconds before, looking to be deep in thought.
His diamond earrings sparkled in the light of the pool and his Santos cross dangled from around his neck, the black and white plaid he was wearing almost looking green in the blue hue surrounding you.
Your eyes traveled from his face and down to his feet where they were hanging limply off the edge, catching sight of a long, ragged scar going down the side of his knee.
Before you could stop yourself, you had reached your hand out and flicked the scar lightly, instantly making his head turn to you.
“What happened there?” You asked and watched as his eyes flickered away from yours and to the scar in question, his fingers reaching out to touch it.
“Got caught up with some bad people in prison.” He responded, and you hummed, chewing on the inside of your cheek.
“Have you ever considered leaving this life behind and starting fresh?”
He glanced at you, before turning his head back to the water. “I think about it every day.”
At his confession you tilted your head to the side, a frown settling over your face. “So why don’t you?”
“You’re smart-” He turned to look at you, his eyes now narrowed. “You know it’s not as simple as that. And even if it was, los Santos is my family.”
You knew that the defensive look in his eyes and strained tone of his voice should have been enough of a sign for you to drop the subject, but stupid and curious as you were, you kept pressing it, insisting.
“It can’t be fun to be running from the law all the time, to handle every moment of your life with hatred and anger. That’s no life.”
“It’s the only life I know.” He defended, staring straight into your eyes, and you shrugged your shoulders, the corners of your lips tugging into a soft, lopsided smile.
“Doesn’t have to be.” You argued. “Letting go of what isn’t right for you won’t be the end of you but rather the beginning. It’s clearing a path for what’s waiting, what’s pulling you, what’s telling you there’s something better out there, even if you don’t know what it is yet.”
“It’s not that simple.” He shook his head, tensing his jaw. “I wish it was, but it’s not.”
“It is what you make it to be, isn’t it?”
His head whipped around to face you in one swift movement, admittedly frightening you slightly. “It’s my turn to ask you something.” He demanded, eyes narrowed with slight annoyance.
You only nodded your head slowly in return, letting out a breath. “Okay.” You agreed.
He raised his head slightly, sending you a questioning glance. "How come you never drive your car?"
You instantly felt the insides of your stomach starting to twist into a knot.
“I drive my car.” You answered quickly, a little too quickly, and you knew he could see right through you and identify the stress that was quickly building up from now being the one in the spotlight.
“I meant the nice one.” He clarified flatly, knowing that you already knew what he was talking about. “Not the heap of twigs you drive my mano and his friends around in every day.”
You tensed your jaw, but didn’t break eye-contact, knowing fully well that you had walked yourself into this position.
"It was my grandpa's car.” You admitted, swallowing. “It's the last thing I have of him and I don’t trust my clumsy ass not to mess it up."
He scanned your face, trying to figure you out. "You let me drive it." He pointed out and you adverted your eyes back to the water.
"I guess I trust you more than I do myself." You mumbled with a shrug, and he chuckled.
"Bad idea."
You could see him shaking his head in the corner of your eye and the sight of his smile caused your lips to tug.
"Probably." You agreed.
"Were you close?” He asked. “You and your abuelo."
You could feel his stare burning into the side of your face but you didn’t move your eyes from the water, kicking it slowly as you nodded.
"I never spent a day without him.” You told him softly. “He watched over me, made sure I had clothes on my back, food on the table, a roof over my head and a good education. He raised me and made me who I am today.”
Oscar nodded again, his eyes soft and understanding. "He sounds like a good guy.” He said and he seemed to hesitate for a moment, before asking. “No parents?”
That question brought an automatic scoff from your lips. "Barely.” You muttered, turning your head to meet his eyes. “Deadbeats." You shrugged and he nodded.
“I feel you.”
“Do you want to tell me about your dad?” The question slipped out before you could stop it, and he tensed. But your stupid mouth just had to keep running. “I’ve only heard his side of the story, and Cesar doesn’t seem to know much about him.”
You expected him to glare, to stand up and leave, but much to your surprise, he smiled at you; a playful smirk.
“I thought you said you wouldn’t ask questions.”
His voice was teasing, clearly trying to be polite, but it was clear that his true feelings didn’t match the forced smile on his lips. His eyes were sad, a flurry of emotions battling against each other behind them, and he was obviously trying very hard not to lose control of his temper.
So you finally decided not to press it any further, and before you even got the chance, he took the subject into his own hands.
“What about your parents?” He asked. “Chicas are always so quick to complain about their problems, but not you. Why don’t you talk about them?”
Unlike him, you didn’t find it hard to talk about your parents. You had forgiven them a long time ago. Not for them, but for yourself, and ever since you had, you had been able to talk openly about them.
The only reason you hadn’t talked to him about your parents before was because you didn’t want him to see you as some spoiled brat, but now that you knew that he still saw you as an equal, there was no reason for you not to open up.
It was the least you could do after he had actually agreed to come here with you, despite the circumstances.
"Parents or no parents, I was privileged growing up. I know it and I don't deny it.” You shrugged simply. “People have bigger problems than I do so I don't like going around complaining and feeling sorry about myself."
He nodded his head along as you spoke, a wide smile stretching across his full lips when you finished, and for the first time that night, it actually seemed to reach his eyes, dimples becoming visible at the corners of his lips.
"There's something I've never heard before.” He looked at you, amused but impressed.
"Well, there’s a first for everything.” You chuckled, raising your eyebrows with a smile. “We're not all spoiled and oblivious to our privileges. I might not live a life in luxury anymore but I’m still better off than most and I’m grateful, for all that I have."
He nodded his head again, his eyes turning softer. "I like that about you." He said, shocking you. It wasn’t like him to say something like that at all.
It made your smile widen, and you raised an eyebrow teasingly, your attitude growing playful. "Oh yeah?” You challenged. “What else do you like about me?"
“You got one of those pretty smiles." He said, and while your smirk turned genuine, his smile turned into a smirk as he joined in on the teasing. "And you have a nice ass, too." He drawled, raising his eyebrows and pulling a hand over his goatee as he shamelessly leaned backward and checked your ass out where you sat.
The shameless flirting brought an amused scoff out of your lips, your hand shooting out to slap him on the chest, heat crawling up the back of your neck. "Idiot."
He laughed, using his hands to protect himself. “What?” He asked. “You’re a fine ass hyna, mamas.”
“Oh, yeah?” You raised an eyebrow, an evil smirk rising to your lips, and before he had the chance to answer or even process what happened next, you delivered a rough push to his shoulder, the unexpected force sending him right into the water.
You let out a high laugh as he disappeared under the surface, shielding your face with your arms as droplets of water went flying into the air.
Oscar quickly came back up to the surface, his face murderous.
“¡Qué mierda!” He swore, furiously wiping the water out of his eyes.
“What’s the matter?” You laughed loudly. “I thought you liked to swim.”
“What’s wrong with you?!” He yelled, glaring as he fought against the weight of his wet clothes, now heavy with water. But you only smirked, kicking some more water at him with your foot.
He let out a guttural growl, wiping his hands over his face, and when his eyes made contact with yours again, you knew you were in trouble.
“No, no-“ You quickly tried to protest, eyes growing wide as you began shuffling backward. But he was faster.
“You asked for it.” He growled, and before you knew it, his wet hand clasped around your ankle and pulled you toward him, your body being submerged in water only a second later. And it was cold.
You flailed your arms in the water and kicked your legs, trying to get to the surface as quickly as possible. Your head soon emerged with a splash and a loud gasp immediately left your lips. “Fuck me, it’s freezing!”
The glare was now long gone from Oscar’s face, his head thrown back with laughter as he swam around you. “You brought it on yourself, mami.” He mused and you smirked, blowing some water off your lip.
“Oh, you’re on.”
You raised your hands and started sending waves of water into his face and he wasted no time in covering himself with his own hands, trying to move out of your line of fire.
Your laughter mixed in with the sound of splashing water, but your fun was short-lived when he managed to get a grip of your wrists.
All of a sudden, you were pulled into his chest, and your laughter died down when your eyes met his.
Your hands automatically went to his shoulders in order to hold yourself steady and your chests pressed together.
His face was stern, his hands slowly dropping your wrists and falling back into water, and he was just tall enough to be able to stand on the bottom of the pool. The expression on his face was unreadable, and the look in his eyes was nothing you had seen before.
He blinked, small droplets of water dropping from his long, black eyelashes, matching droplets spread through his dark facial hair.
You weren’t sure when the atmosphere between you turned from playful to… this, but you regretted to admit that it was making your heart feel like it was about to beat out of your chest.
The look in his eyes was so intense, like he was staring straight into your soul, and it was making your head spin.
His hands suddenly made contact with your waist and you jumped at the sudden and unexpected touch, but you got no time to think or react to it, suddenly feeling a wet pair of lips pressing against yours.
A small sound of surprise rose in your throat but it was muffled into the kiss.
His hands were gripping at your waist like he hadn’t touched another human in a lifetime and as you came back to your senses, you found yourself responding to his actions with just as much desperations.
Your eyes fell closed and your hands moved up from his shoulders to the back of his neck, your legs wrapping around his hips in the water, pulling him as close as you possible could.
A guttural groan formed in his throat at the feeling of your groin rubbing against his and you moaned into the kiss, tingles spreading through your core and your breath getting heavy as his hands roamed up and down your body.
They moved from your waist to your back, back down to your hips and down to your ass where he held you with a firm grip, pushing your pelvis closer to his which only caused you to hold onto him even harder.
Your head had been spinning before, when you hadn’t been doing anything other than looking into each other’s eyes, but now you were barely even able to form a coherent thought.
Tingles were going through your entire body, your chest heaving against his and your fantasy running. But before things could get too heated, the two of you pulled apart, both breathless and in desperate need of oxygen.
Your eyes met again and your foreheads pressed together, the two of you still holding onto each other like your lives depended on it.
“Holy shit…” You breathed, sucking your swollen lips into your mouth and letting out a breathy chuckle. “That was…”
You raised your eyebrows. You couldn’t even find the right words, still dizzy from the intense moment you had just shared.
But no words were needed. The tiny smile tugging at his lips told you that he knew exactly what you meant, and that the feeling went both ways.
You watched as his eyes fell shut and listened as a small sigh escaped through his nose. Your hands moved from the back of his neck to his jaw, cradling his face, thumbs caressing the stubble of his cheeks.
“What are you thinking?” You whispered, searching his face.
Another breath left his nose, his lips pulling into a tight line and his grip on your waist tensing. “I’m gonna have to tell Cesar about that pendejo leaving.” He spoke, the strain evident in his voice. “He’s going to blame me. I know it.”
“Hey.” Your eyebrows furrowed together and you raised his head, watching his eyes open and meet yours. “Whatever happens, your brother loves you to pieces. You're the one who raised him and at the end of the day, he'll always remember that. So don’t beat yourself up."
His brown eyes were hard, suspicious. “Why are you being so nice to me?” He asked.
His question caused your eyebrow to raise. “We just made out in a pool and you’re asking me why I’m being nice to you?” You asked, finding the question amusing. But he wasn’t amused, he was as serious as ever, as if he really didn’t understand it.
“Not just now.” He clarified, raising his head in a nod. “You’ve treated me like a person ever since day one.”
“Isn’t that what you are?” A smile played on your lips and your head tilted to the side. You leaned in closer to his face, rubbing your nose against his playfully. “I’m nice to you because I like you, stupid.”
The small, childish act of affection caused his serious attitude to falter, a smile rising to his face, but it fell just as quickly as it got there, his face turning cold again.
“Are you angry at your parents for walking out on you?”
You were taken back by the sudden change of topic, and unexpected topic at that. Every time you had tried to have a sentimental conversation with him, he had shut right off. And now there you were, with him initiating a conversation himself.
“I used to be.” You answered honestly, a crease forming in between your eyebrows as you scanned the thoughtful look on his face. “Furious, really. But not anymore.”
He looked at you, hesitant, battling his own mind. “What changed?” He asked, and you shrugged.
“It was controlling my life so I let it go.”
Understanding what you were trying to hint at, he scoffed, turning his head to the side. “Easier said than done.”
You smiled sadly and softly pushed at his face, forcing him to look back at you. “I know it is.” You agreed. “But you can do it, if you really set your mind to it.”
His eyes fell shut at the feeling of your fingers tracing the lines of the tattoo on his neck, his breathing slowing down.
“I used to have potential and shit.” He said, and you listened silently, not stopping your movements. “I was smart, had straight A’s. Planned to go to a good college and culinary school. I gave it all up to raise Cesar because our mom kept leaving and Ray got himself locked up.”
You listened with a heavy heart as he finally opened up to you about his personal life, absentmindedly stroking his jaw and keeping to nimbly move your fingers over the inked skin with your other hand.
“You still have a lot of time to make yourself what you want to be.” You spoke softly, slowly. “It’ll come when the time is right. I believe in you.”
The smile playing on your lips when you said those last words were more genuine than any smile he had ever seen in his life.
He gave you one last look before burying his face in your neck, holding you close and tensing his jaw as he realized things just got a whole lot more complicated.
Your soft, understanding and non-judgmental personality wasn’t at all what he was used to be at the receiving end of.
He hadn’t been looking, not even a little, but you had found him and he knew that he was fucked because he was falling. He was falling fast, and he was falling hard.

Hidden - Brain x Reader
Apologies for the delay, but here’s the result from my recent poll!
Tumblr media
Definitely love the “Are you hiding?” option you guys picked, though I do love that disaster too so...
Anyways, enjoy ;3
~~~~~
           Today’s been a little odd.
           My feet carry me throughout the Daybreak Town tower in search of my boyfriend. It’s Ephemer’s birthday today and I was invited to join the celebration, but when I arrived, Brain was nowhere to be found. He’d been spotted earlier, so we’re sure he’s here, just not sure where.
           An hour has passed in my wandering without any luck. As I make my fourth pass by the kitchen, Lauriam calls out to me.
           “No luck finding the boy toy yet?” He sips at a glass of water.
           Ambling in, I sigh. “No. Where the heck is he?”
           “Probably napping somewhere dark and quiet.”
           “Yeah, that sounds like something he would do.”
           Lauriam laughs with me. “Don’t forget to check high places. Maybe shake a bag of treats when you call his name.”
           “Are you implying my boyfriend is a dog?”
           “More like a cat.” The man finishes his glass. “Well, good luck. I’ve got to get back to decorating.”
           “All good.” I point out the bowl of fruit. “Do you mind if I have one of these apples?”
           He shrugs. “Go ahead. There’s a cutting board in the cupboard down there if you want it in pieces.”
           “Thanks.”
           Lauriam leaves me to my snack and I open the cupboard. Once I’m handed a cutting board, I place it on the counter and reach for an apple.
           Wait a sec…
           One second. Two.
           The cupboard door nearly comes off the hinges as I tear it open. Huddled among the pots, pans, and boards is the young man I’ve spent an hour looking for. There’s a bright smile on his face and he waves.
           “Hey darlin’.”
           I don’t understand. Surely he hasn’t been sitting here this entire time, but the sheer fact he’s here in the first place is baffling.
           Cautiously, I ask, “…Are you hiding?”
           “Yep.”
           Maybe he has been here the whole time. “Why?”
           “Ventus caught me taking cupcakes earlier.”
           My shoulders drop. “You were eating Ephemer’s cupcakes?!”
           “I didn’t know they were for him!”
           “It’s his birthday! Why else would there be cupcakes?!”
           “I don’t know! But they looked amazing!”
           Fingers pinch at the bridge of my nose. “I’m sure Ephemer will understand.”
           “Probably; he’s pretty chill. But Skuld made them.”
           My jaw drops. I now understand why he’s holed himself up in a cupboard. “You are the dumbest smart person I have ever met.”
           “Thanks.”
           “Brain—”
           I slam the door shut when I hear voices down the hall.
           “Why the hell didn’t you tell me sooner?!” That’s Sklud—a very angry Skuld.
           “I couldn’t find you!” Ven exclaims. “And when I did, you were busy!”
           The young woman storms into the kitchen, tearing the fridge open. Every hair on her body bristles. Then those amber eyes turn on me.
           Her voice low, she asks, “Where is he?”
           My hands fly up, palms open in surrender. I immediately regret blurting out, “I don’t know!”
           “He took seven cupcakes! Don’t lie to me!”
           I’m screwed now. If I admit to knowing, she’s going to be angry at me for lying. Instead of saving my own hide, I make it worse.
           “I don’t know! I’ve been looking for him since I got here! I just stopped to have an apple; you can ask Lauriam!”
           Her eyes narrow, scrutinizing me and I just pray she mistakes my fear of getting caught for my fear of her. Letting out a huff of aggravation, she stomps off with the tattle-tale behind her. I wait a few heart pounding moments until I’m sure she’s gone before I rip open the cupboard and proceed to jam myself in with my boyfriend.
           “You owe me! You owe me your fucking life!” I hiss, adjusting myself across his lap to ensure the door closes.
           “Awesome. Put it on my tab.”
           I settle in, mildly annoyed that I’ve been dragged into his predicament. Then an arm snakes around my waist. Another moment later, slow, hot kisses press against my neck.
           “Brain, this is not the time for that,” I grumble.
           “Why not? We’ll probably be stuck here until tomorrow. Might as well entertain ourselves somehow.”
           “Tomorrow?!”
           “Well we might be able to sneak out after everyone goes home, but sometimes some of us stay late so no guarantees.”
           “Oh my gods, no. I’m not staying in here all night.”
           I try to dislodge myself from Brain, but he holds tighter. “Woah, where you goin’?”
           “To give you up.”
           “What?!” Now he’s definitely not letting me go. “Nonononono!”
           “Brain!”
           “Shhh!”
           “No! I’m not—”
           Protests are consumed by his mouth pressed to mine. There’s not enough room to resist, especially when he shoves a hand behind my head to deepen the kiss. A swipe of his tongue against my bottom lip flips my stomach.
           It breaks softly, just enough for me to still feel his breath ghosting my face.
           “C’mon babe.”
           Gods, that husky note shakes my resolve; it gets me every time. He knows that.
           “You’re such a pain.”
           I can feel him smiling. “You love me.”
           He can’t see it, but I can’t help rolling my eyes. Still, he’s not wrong.
           So we entertain ourselves in the darkness. He always knows the right twists and turns to make me squirm and lose track of time. As usual, Brain is calm and relaxed in his kissing, really only getting greedy when he’s not getting the attention he wants. I don’t mind taking what I want, though I admit getting that jolt of assertion from him now and then does rally the butterflies.
           The door opens.
           “Ah ha!”
           Screaming ensues. I get pulled out first, held hostage by Lauriam, but Brain is dragged out by his feet to suffer Skuld’s wrath.
           “Found you!” She leers over him.
           “No no no! Wait! I didn’t mean it!” he pleads, covering his head.
           “What do you mean you didn’t mean it?! You ate seven cupcakes!” she demands.
           “I just saw the cupcakes; I didn’t know they were for the party! I forgot there was a party!”
           “They had his name on them! How did you forget?!”
           “I don’t know! I forgot it was a birthday thing! I’m sorry!”
           “And you!” I tense as she points at me. “You lied to me!”
           Not going to lie this time. “I panicked!”
           “You panicked?!”
           “Of course I panicked! Look at what you’re doing!”
           She glowers but before she can snap back, we hear someone else.
           “What’s going on? Why’s—” The very boy we’d been preparing to celebrate steps into the doorway. Ephemer pauses when he actually notices the prosecution in progress. “Uh…”
           Ven’s the one who breaks the silence. “Happy birthday!”
           That’s when the ridiculousness of it all sinks in. We all manage to relax and get along for the celebration. There’s a tense moment when the cupcakes come out. With almost half the letters missing, the message reads “Hpy irhay Eemer!” The birthday boy laughs it off while Skuld glares daggers at Brain. The rest of the party goes off without a hitch and, surprisingly, no one ends up six feet under.
           The cool night air ambles past as we make our way home, laughing at what had transpired.
           Brain pokes at my shoulder. “I can’t believe you were snitch on me.”
           “Oh you would’ve given me up in a heartbeat,” I scoff.
           “Yeah, probably.” Fingers intertwine with mine. “But you’re supposed to be held to a higher standard than me.”
           “Who says, Mr. Union Leader?”
           “Me, the Union Leader, obviously.”
           “Yeah right.”
           Suddenly, there’s a small gaggle of children pointing at us and shouting. I distinctly hear the phrase “It’s the cupcake man!”
           With a laugh, Brain waves. Then one of the little girls yells, “Did you tell your friend happy birthday for us?!”
           “Ah shoot. No, I forgot,” he says. They’re outraged. “Woah woah, calm down. I’ll tell him tomorrow.”
           “Promise?!” another demands.
           “Of course.” His smile turns sheepish when they insist he promises with his pinky.
           There’s a bit more kiddo chaos before an adult calls the kids back. They bid Brain goodbye as they take off, leaving us to continue our walk home.
           “I’m impressed, cupcake man.” A tint of pink bleeds across those fair cheeks. “That was some charade.”
           He simply smiles. “I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about, darlin’.”
           Oh, I see now. “Whatever you say, sweetheart.” We walk a bit longer. “Y’know, I never would’ve imagined you doing something like that.”
           “Probably never would have before I met you.”
           “Huh?”
           “You know me. I’m not great with people—I’m still not. But zero interaction isn’t really an option anymore. So I’ve gotta start somewhere.”
           “I’m not sure almost getting yourself murdered is a great start.”
           He shrugs. “Damn, guess I still got things to learn.”
           Brain won’t admit to his deed and only heaven knows why, but I’m wildly impressed at the effort he’s putting in to building his social skills. I don’t need him to be the socialite of Daybreak Town, but knowing he’s trying for the sake of our future is heartwarming.
           “I love you, Brain.”
           A brow arches in surprise but he smiles anyway. “I love you too.”
Okay! Could I have oikawa and reader who are paired up for an assignment (in college) but they can't stand each other? It's a yearlong project and eventually they both realize they have a crush by the end of it but won't admit it lmao did I do alright 😅
The Project
Hello! So, I wrote this out as diary entries and I decided that it would be the “baby project”. Ya know, the cliche “enemies get paired up to take care of robot baby” though I honestly didn’t focus on that too much lol. I hope you enjoy! Please feel free to check out my masterlist and send in requests. Oh, I also don’t own any art!
Tumblr media
January
Dear Diary,
I hate my life. I hate my professor but most of all, I hate Oikawa Tooru. I despise his stupid little face, his dumb hair and his obnoxious voice. But, worst of all, he is so full of himself. He has the biggest ego I have ever seen and he can never shut up. Why the hell did my professor decide to pair us together for this project? There’s no way we’re going to get an A, not with him as my partner. I should just toss this baby doll out the window.
Dear Journal,
My life is ruined!!!! I am so annoyed with my stupid teacher, who clearly hates me because all the girls like me more than him. What a dick… anyway, he paired me up with Y/N. The most boring person I’ve ever met. She’s always studying, she never smiles and she’s always glaring at me like I’ve done something wrong, which I obviously haven’t. There’s no way I’m gonna pass this class now, because there’s not a bit of kindness in her. I should probably get that stupid baby robot thing from her.
February
Dear Diary,
Things have not improved. Most of my classmates are taking turns with the robot babies (which cry at night… rip my sleep) but Oikawa is so petty and refuses to take his turn! I’ve barely slept this week and I’m tempted to rip the batteries out of this thing, but if I do, I know I’ll fail the project. I’m just drained, I want a new partner, but the professor refused, selfish bastard.
Dear Journal,
I am so pissed with Y/N. She won’t trust me with the stupid robot during the day, so why should I have to deal with it at night? I know she’s pissed with me, from all the tired glares, but she needs to stop being such a bitch and just let me participate during the day. After all, it’s graded on participation too, I don’t want to fail.
March
Dear Diary,
Oikawa is the worst. I accidentally dropped the baby and it began crying, with a little beeping noise going off. Aka, points off. I was so tired and he just started yelling at me in front of everyone, calling me a shitty partner and saying how I would never be trusted with a kid. I nearly cried and I ended up just running away. I’m literally trembling right now, god. I just want this to all end, I am so sick of him.
Dear Journal,
Y/N is so frustrating! I told her to let me hold the kid since she was carrying tons of other stuff but she refused, saying she “didn’t need my help”. Two minutes later, she dropped the robot and we lost points. I just lost it. Like, does she want us to fail the project? Iwa-Chan yelled at me, saying I needed to apologise to her, but I don’t want to. It’s not my fault she’s so damn sensitive. But… I do feel a tiny bit bad for the trust comment.
April
Dear Diary,
Things have been okay. Oikawa apologised for yelling at me, though given that his muscle-head friend was there, I’m guessing it wasn’t of his own accord. But, I accepted. I’ve been thinking about it and to be honest, fighting isn’t gonna work now. As much as I hate to admit it, even to a diary, I need to work with Oikawa if I want that A. So, I’m trying not to insult him (very difficult) and I’m letting him “help”, though I still doubt he’s capable of the job.
Dear Journal,
Iwa-Chan made me apologise, but I was super surprised when Y/N accepted it. I’d honestly expected to be kicked in the nuts, not gonna lie. She seems to have chilled out a bit though, so I guess it’s not as terrible as before. She also seems to be trusting me more too, so that makes me a bit smug. I’m obviously the superior parent after all.
May
Dear Diary
May has not been too bad actually. Oikawa seems to be less of an asshole, I guess? I dunno, he just is sucking less… He’s actually not too bad with the robot either, I wonder if he has any younger siblings or something? I actually don’t know a lot about him.
Dear Journal
Turns out, Y/N isn’t as boring as I thought, like… what the heck! I came over to her dorm to grab the robot and I saw some posters on her wall of the bands I like, but I’ve not said anything yet. It’s weird but maybe Y/N isn’t as bad as I thought...
June
Dear Diary,
Oikawa and I have stuff in common. I am shocked and still trying to process this. But, the dummy forgot to bring lunch and I gave him some milk bread I brought. Only because I didn’t want to hear him whine about how hungry he is, but it turns out to be his favorite food. He even mentioned a band I like and we talked about the new album for a few minutes before class started. It’s weird how he’s changed since January. But maybe… I’ve just gotten to know him better.
Dear Journal,
I was so hungry, I forgot my lunch and I was gonna go bother Iwa-Chan to share when Y/N gave me milk bread!!! I was so excited because duh, milk bread is amazing. I brought up the band we both like and we actually managed to have a civil conversation, which felt… pretty nice. She was so mean at the beginning of the year, but I think she’s actually kinda cool! Don’t tell her I said that.
July
Dear Diary,
Oikawa actually made me laugh today. Part of me is horrified and nauseous at the thought but another part of me is kinda… happy? It was the dumbest joke ever and I will not ruin your pages by retelling it, but I don’t think he’s going to let me live it down.
Dear Journal,
Guess what?! I made Y/N laugh! I will obviously tell you the amazing joke.
Knock Knock
Who’s there?
Rough
Rough who?
Ruff Ruff Ruff it’s your dog!
She stared at me for a minute and I thought she was gonna punch me but then she just started laughing. It was actually really cute, like I never knew Y/N could have such a cute laugh!
August
Dear Diary,
I got really sick, so sorry for the lack of entries this week. It was a really bad stomach virus and I honestly wanted to die. Oikawa actually helped me out though and took over the “parenting responsibilities”. He also brought me some soup which was amazing. Turns out he’s a good cook and it’s a dish called lentejas con chorizo. I’m gonna have to ask for the recipe. I don’t know if this sickness has infected my brain but I think Oikawa is a good friend?
Dear Journal,
Y/N got really sick this week, so I took over with the robot baby. I was actually kinda worried about her, which was weird and Iwa-Chan said I should bring her something to eat. I made lentejas con chorizo, a spicy spanish soup with chorizo and lentils which she seemed to love! She looked super bad though, so I’m kinda glad she’s back to her normal self. It’s weird, but I kind consider her a friend, I guess.
September
Dear Diary,
I think I’m sick again. Whenever I’m with Oikawa, I feel super warm and light-headed, like I’ve got a fever or something. I checked my temperature though and it was normal so I’m kinda struggling to figure out just what the hell is wrong with me. My friends dared to suggest I have feelings for him, which is ridiculous because there is no way I have a crush on Oikawa Tooru.
Dear Journal,
Iwa-Chan is stupid. I was talking about Y/N today and how we hung out over the weekend to look after the robot baby. I happened to mention some stuff like I thought she looked nice and how she laughed at more of my jokes and then Iwa-Chan said “Dude, you sound like you’ve got a crush on her.” Which is ridiculous and I told him that! There is no way in hell that I have a crush on Y/N.
October
Dear Diary,
I have a crush on Oikawa Tooru. I can’t deny the terrible truth anymore, not when my heart flutters at his lame jokes and little stories. I am so screwed, because:
 1) I don’t want to like him!
 2) He is way too popular and probably doesn't like me back
But, I’m sure I’m just over-reacting, because it’s just a crush. Crushes come and go and soon, I’ll forget about it
Dear Journal,
I HAVE A CRUSH ON Y/N!!! I was just sitting in class and I couldn’t stop staring at her lips. Like, what the hell? Since when did they become so plump and kissable? I bet they taste like strawberries, oh god, and then she had the audacity to start nibbling her pen, like why?! Why would you torture me, Y/N-chan?! I freaked out and bailed on our lunch meeting but I can’t stop thinking about her.
November
Dear Diary,
The crush is gone. But it’s been replaced with love and I’m sorry for crying right now and messing up your pages, but I am sick with love for Tooru and I just want it to stop. It’s so messed up, how we started off hating each other and now, I feel like this. He doesn’t hate me anymore, but he doesn’t love me, I’m sure of it. He’s been avoiding me as much as possible and I just want to cry. I’m too tired to write anymore, I just want to sleep.
Dear Journal,
I love her. I am in love with Y/N and I don’t even know what to do. I’ve never felt like this before, sure I’m a big flirt, but this is so different. I wanna hold her hand and kiss her and yes, fuck her, but more than that. I want her to be mine and all I can do is run away from her like a coward. I don’t know what the hell I’m gonna do now.
December
Dear Oikawa,
I hate our professor so much, but for a different reason. Being told to give you my journal is literally my worst nightmare and I’m only doing this because I don’t want to fail. I’d rewrite everything but the professor stamped each page (thank god he doesn’t read this) so there’s no use ripping out stuff. Why did I not use a pencil?!
Oikawa, at the beginning of the year, I hated you. You were the most annoying guy I’d ever met and I was so pissed at being partnered with you. But, as you’ve just read… things have changed.
I know that there is no way in heaven or hell you like me back, but I can’t exactly hide it from you, so just please still be my friend. I love you, but I’d rather be your friend than have you avoid me out of awkwardness.
Dear Y/N,
I cannot believe the professor added this, I am so angry. Definitely gonna complain to HR or whatever shit we have here. I am super sorry for all the mean stuff I wrote, because I didn’t know you then. I hope you can see that I really like you a lot, Y/N. I think I’m in love with you and I know you probably are gonna reject me but I needed to “say” it. I’ve been such a loser, running away from you and my feelings (literally) so I need to man up as Iwa-Chan would say. I hope you don’t hate me and we can still be friends. But… if you somehow feel even a tiny bit of love for me, I love you too Y/N.
The nine friends walked into hotel ball room their school had rented. It wasn’t anything super fancy, it kinda looked like a super cheap wedding, but for most of the kids here, they didn’t care much about how it looked, as long as they got laid at the end of the night. Y/n was probably the most excited one at the ball to be completely honest. She loved spending times with her friends, she loves making memories. After all, memories will be all she has to keep her company as she adjust to her new life in the states.
When Y/n got the scholarship, she didn’t know what to do with herself. A full ride to NYU? She didn’t even know how she managed to do that. But she was fully ready to turn it down and go to SNU with Mingi, just like they had always planned. But once Mingi found out about the scholarship there was no way she would be staying in Korea. Mingi practically forced her to accept, saying it would be the dumbest thing she’s ever done if she turned it down. As much as he wanted to go to college with her, he wanted her to Succeed more.
“Okay we’re here, now what” Jongho huffed once they reached a table. “Now we have fun, stop being a party pooper” Y/n pouted as she shoved the youngers shoulder. “Ignore him bub, he’s just cranky cause it’s past his bed time” Seonghwa jokes as he ruffled Jongho’s hair, which made Y/n giggle.
Mingi looked over at her, listening to the soft sound come out of her mouth, and he just melted. Of course Mingi had a crush on Y/n, he spent his entire life in the house next door to her, he grew up and watched her change from a clumsy, dorky little kid to a slightly less clumsy, gorgeous woman. Once he realized his feelings for her he became extremely awkward, fumbling over his words and avoiding eye contact. He even stopped going around her house. She started to think she did something wrong. She had spent countless nights crying herself to sleep, thinking that she lost her bestfriend, until she met San. San was (and still is) a complete mess, but in the best way possible. He’s loud, and clumsy, and everything y/n is times 10. Meeting San helped pull her out of her little funk, it also was a huge slap to the face for Mingi. One day he looked out his window and saw her sitting with some kid he didn’t know on their bench. It was just what he needed for him to see that he was being a complete idiot. From that day forward, he decided he wasn’t going to let his feelings for her get in the way of their friendship, he wasn’t going to lose her. What Mingi didn’t know was that she also had the fattest crush on him. She was a complete clueless school girl when she was around him, blushing easily, laughing at everything he said, trying to get closer to him. But then he started distancing himself, and her gigantic, jupiter size crush shrunk. It never fully left, but she was too scared to risk a lifetime of friendship over what she deemed to be a silly crush.
Mingi didn’t realize he was staring at her, completely lost in thought, until she waved her hand in front of his face. “Yo, earth to Mingi” she said for the second time, trying to gain her bestfriends attention. By now everyone had dispersed, Jongho and Yeosang sat by the spiked punch bowl, Seonghwa and Hongjoong sat at a table, trying not to feel old (even though they only graduated last year) and San, Wooyoung, and Yunho were dancing once the dance floor like the little freaks they were. So it was just Y/n and Mingi.
“Hm” Mingi hummed as he snapped out of his daze. “I asked if you wanted to dance” Y/n repeated her question with a breathy laugh, wondering what was going on inside her bestfriends head. “I don’t dance” “fucking liar, your captain of the dance team” “okay, fine, I don’t slow dance.” Y/n pouted up at him, grabbing one of his larger hands with both of her hands as she looked up at him with her big puppy dog eyes, “please” she asked in a soft voice. Mingi cursed under his breath, griping her hand tighter as he pulled her over to the dance floor while she smiled victoriously behind him. A life time of friendship will teach you a few things.
Y/n and Mingi swayed to the rhythm, her arms wrapped around his neck as she played with the hair at the nape of his neck; his arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her flat against his chest. The closeness made her heart beat out of her chest and she just prayed he couldn’t feel it. It’s not like they were never this close, they cuddled all the time, movie nights, naps, watching tv, scrolling mindlessly through social media. But something about the way he looked in the dim orange lights and how good he looked in his suit made her stomach do flips.
“So, this is really our last dance huh?” Mingi asked as he started rubbing her exposed back, his touch leaving goose bumps in their wake. “You make it sound like I’m dying, I’ll be back winter break... and spring break, and summer....” “too long” he mumbled as he pulled her closer, resting his head ontop of hers. “I know” she sighed out, resting her head against his chest. Mingi wrapped his arms further around her to hold her tighter and she felt herself slowly slipping from reality. Mingi had a way of making her feel like the two of them were the only people in the world, like nothing else mattered as long as they were with eachother. He’d been making her feel like that ever since they were kids, like the time she was learning how to ride a bike. She was doing it, she was riding a bike with no training wheels, no help from anyone else! She thought she had it down, until it can time to turn. The handle bars jerked, turning the front wheel completely sideways and sending her to the ground. Mingi was the first to run over, not her mom or dad, not her older brother, Mingi. He was quickly to make sure she was okay, to wipe her tears and to put a smile onto her pretty face. Ever since then she new Mingi was her safe place. But now she was leaving, in three weeks she would be in a totally different country, where they spoke a totally differently language and where the culture was vastly different, and to top it all off, she was leaving Mingi, the one person who made her feel safe.
And as if Mingi could tell she was working herself up, he pulled away just enough to see her face. “Stop that” he whispered, his hands moving from her waist to her face. “You’ll call me everyday right, and you’ll answer my calls?” The shakiness of her voice has Mingi’s heartbreaking, did she really think he would just ignore her? “Bug I’ll be calling you so much you’ll probably end up blocking me” he joked, feeling better once he saw her smile. “I’ll never block you, who’ll get me my midnight mcdonald’s if I block you?” Mingi rolled his eyes playfully, the smile he tried to hide slowly creeping onto his face when he heard her laugh. “But I’m serious, I don’t care if I have to stay up until three o’clock in the morning, I’ll call you and text you everyday, I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep anyways unless I know you’re alright.” Y/n could feel the heat creeping up onto her cheeks at his statement and quickly hide her face in his chest, making him laugh.
Dreams
a super sweet but very sad-rated mason dream i had retold to @withbeautyandrage and @angela8754 as a bedtime story.
Ok so BASICALLY it’s some time near-romance and m hasn’t figured out his feelings yet and basically bakery 2.0 happened.
Lia had enough of his b.s. and pulled away - cutting the playboy off for good - to live her life. Go with the flow. Not spare another stupid moment for a stupid boy ever again.
While Lia and Mason were having their tiff over the course of a week and ignoring one another at all costs (on Lia’s part. Mason was being Mason and only turning up when he was ordered to), the dogs were in town to deal with the whatever that’s lurking around Wayhaven in addition to all this bounty/trapper/rogue shit.
Lia is at the local watering hole after a very tedious day. Sitting at the bar nursing her second drink when a familiar presence - a warmth attacking her like a radiating furnace.
“Detective,” he says with a nod and a point to the bartender for a drink.
She turned to her right to see Tane.
Her brows furrowed and she expertly scanned the rest of the premise for the rest of Unit Alpha. Not a single dog in sight. Just Tane.
He took the seat next to her without asking.
“What’re you doing here?”
“What, you think they keep us in cages?”
Lia had a rueful smile; “Kinda, yeah.”
They talk and talk and get on well with their shameless banter. and eventually he asks, “What’s going on between you and dark and smoky? That thing still happening?”
Lia scoffs so LOUDLY then says with the slightest shake of her head before taking a loooong sip, “Absolutely nothing.”
Tane raises an eyebrow.
All she responds is, “You’ve met Mason.”
And he kinda understands.
They talk and talk some more, and the alcohol hits her but she stops after 3 - girl knows her limits. And Tane’s actually kinda cool??
Ok so yadda ya he walks her back to her place after last call and they hook up.
A few days later UB, Lia and the dogs are holed up at the facility for a briefing. It went well - if you take away the utter distain and contempt coming from Adam about giving UA this job while UB focuses on their ongoing case.
UA were the first to depart after the meeting. Before leaving Tane crosses the distance and gets all up in Lia’s personal space. Not in a creepy way, but a delicate, for-your-ears-only kinda way that has the remaining members of UB watching intently.
His words certainly were not delicate. The were blunt and to the point though they were said in his low, raspy accent, “If you wanna go for round two come find me.”
He kissed her cheek then turned on his heels.
And Mason over in his dark corner by the door snarls HARD. Stares at them. Then storms out of the room before either could fully acknowledge his reaction.
Hours later she’s sitting in the living room of the warehouse reading all alone. Due to the looming danger, she’s been put on lockdown here until the dogs’ finish their mission. Mason ever-so-quietly enters and slumps next to her. Just enough space between them not to touch but still closer than they’ve been in a while.
Neither says anything.
Mason’s watching her out the corner of his eye and she’s trying to ignore him. Eventually he speaks uncharacteristically softly; “Are we good?” His hand resting on the leather next to her aching to reach out. He has to ball it into a white-knuckled fist to fend off the offending urge.
She closes the book and huffs.
(I don’t remember what happened next) They talked. They said things they needed to say. She got so so angry and so did he but he refused to let the emotion consume him. Lia was ready to walk away for good - prepared to do so. But then... but then they kiss. and he pulls her on his lap in an instant to deepen it. he doesn’t understand why he’s missed this - her so much. and gosh they’re so desperate for one another.
Mason uses the leverage to hike her up his torso to stand and carry her to her room without breaking the moment.
The second her bedroom door shuts behind them they waste no time disrobing one another.
Then they’re buck naked.
She’s sitting at the edge of the bed invitingly, ready, and he’s standing before between her legs. Mason’s eyes are dark and half-lidded and he’s somehow in a trance because he says something she wasn’t meant to know and he wasn’t aware was within him;
“mine.”
It was said like a fact the whole universe knew, uttered so softly that if he wasn’t two inches away her normal human hearing would have missed it.
Lia brushed it off. Not bothering to think further into it - Mason always says some sort of compliment every time she’s on full display.
So they’re doing the do for what feels like forever - certainly the longest they’ve ever been romping around. Now she’s on top and he’s looking up at her with those entranced grey eyes again. and this time says in his soft voice like earlier, he says “you’re so beautiful” as his hand comes up to cup her cheek.
And Lia stops. Breathing first. Then all motions. And just looks at him.
Sooo many emotions swirling in them and around them.
And Mason holds his breath thinking he’s fucked up again and ruined this for good. He’s waiting for her to pull the trigger.
But her fingers wrap gently around his wrist and she nuzzles further into his hand.
Nsfw things are said in between and done. And at one point she begs/demands Mason to stop makin loveee and to just fuck her because all this unwarranted tenderness is making her emotional and she’s fucking over all this shit. she wants to get off and get off him.
When they’re done she immediately gets up and heads for the shower. No cuddling much to masons chagrin :(
so he gets dressed slowly. Listening to her beyond the wall.
And she’s crying.
And he’s confused and his chest hurts because of her sobs. But he’ll let her have her moment obviously not wanting to intrude on her space.
So he’s halfway out the door and a cigarette in his lips when Nate passes, giving him a half hearted smile but reserved because of how forlorn mason looks.
“Everything okay”
“I don’t fucking know”
“What’d you say?” Nate says all too knowingly.
Mason takes a few beats trying to remember if he did actually say anything offensive, eyes glued to the floor and hands shoved in his jean pockets, “That she’s beautiful.”
Nates brows furrow.
“Now she’s crying in the shower”
“Well... if I were you, I’d make sure she’s okay. Be there for her”
Mason looks like Nate has just said the dumbest thing imaginable but turns back around into the room and shuts the door. He puts his cig in the bin and heads into the bathroom all be damned and thank god it’s unlocked.
She’s sitting naked on the expensive tiled floor and doesn’t give him a glance. Mason bounds over, sits next to her under the stream fully clothed and wraps his arms around her pulling her into his chest as she cries. For many many minutes. And he just holds her.
When the water starts to turn icy on his sensitive skin he turns it off and pulls her up to her feet, wrapping a plush luxury towel around her and guiding her into the warmth of her bedroom. She seems to be more with it now and steps away from him, tugging the towel around her tighter to give her strength.
Mason raises a brow to ask her what’s up.
She sighs and looks everywhere but at him.
“Sweetheart,” he practically begs.
“I can’t do this”
“Do what?”
She gestures around the bedroom where everything’s in the mess they made “This!”
He’s still not getting it.
“I like you so fucking much. I can’t do this if you’re gonna say those things and it mean nothing but bedroom talk to get me off.”
He lets her words sink in and swirl around a bit. He still doesn’t fully get it but he gets that feelings can change and that this is a two-way street, so he says “Okay.”
“Ok” she replies.
Their eyes meet so briefly. She’s trying to stay strong and keep a bit of space between them. He’s seemingly unbothered, his eyes giving nothing away. Not letting her know his inner turmoil of why his skin is itching but not in the hypersensitive way or why he said those things in the first place or why he feels like he needs some fucking air even though he doesn’t need oxygen to survive.
Lia points a lazy finger to the door, “I need to get dressed.”
Mason nods and leaves without another word.
He closed her door when Felix beams from his doorway across the hall, “You two are back together! Wait- why are you wet?”
Mason shakes his head and gets as far away as he can.
The end.
I Hate Myself for Loving You
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word Count: 4.3k
Summary: You and Roy Harper hated each other, ever since you met. Who knew a dog and an 8 year old would make you realize your true feelings for him.
Pairing: Roy Harper x Barton! Reader
A/N: Scott and Clint’s friendship inspired by Paul Rudd and Jeremy Renners friendship. I’m really happy and proud of how this came out.
“I really don’t see the point in training with them again.” You mumble as your dad practically drags you down a hallway.
“It’s good exposure to others’ styles!” Your dad, the one and only Clint Barton, A.K.A the mighty Avenger Hawkeye, insists. “Besides, Oliver’s a great archer, and Roy and Artemis have different styles than you.”
“Roy and Artemis have sticks up their asses.” You roll your eyes.
“Be nice.” He scolds as you finally reach a large, metal door. “Use your manners, don’t kill anyone. And ask before you take any food.”
“Dad, that rules more directed at you.” You poke his chest.
“Nope, remember when we got invited to Wakanda last weekend?” He reminded.
“They really should put up a sign that says ‘reserved for royalty’.” You shrugged.
You tap your foot impatiently while your dad puts in the code, and it flashes red. He grins nervously at you and tries it again, punching the dial pad when it’s wrong again.
“Having technical difficulties, are we?” You tease him.
“No!” He pouts. “Ollie must’ve given me the wrong code. Let me call him, this will all be resolved.”
You lean against the wall and yawn as your dad talks to Oliver on the phone, then punches in another code. This time it lights up green, and you’re let in.
You follow your dad inside, peering around. You hadn’t been to this facility before, they had come to yours before now. It was a cave of some sorts, but definitely technologically advanced. You see a few heroes your age you recognized from the news, all still in their costumes. Your eyes land on Roy Harper, the most infuriating man on the face of the planet.
“Oh great. You again?” He sneers down at you.
You glare at him and start to charge at him, but your dad ruins your fun and grabs you. You try to pry him off and kick him, but he doesn’t budge. Roy gives you a smug grin that you wished you could wipe off of his stupid face, and you notice the other two archers next to him.
“Sorry about her.” Your dad laughs awkwardly. “She’s a little...aggressive today.”
“I am not aggressive!” You finally kick him in the shin and he drops you, clutching it in pain.
“You are so grounded for that!” Your dad snaps.
“Clint, nice to see you made it past the door.” Oliver chuckled. “And Y/N, please excuse Roy’s comment. He also has some...behavioral issues.” Oliver narrows his eyes at the boy.
“I was just saying.” He shrugs.
“Can we get on with this, please?” Artemis crossed her arms in annoyance from behind Oliver.
“Yes, we should. Follow us.” Oliver says.
Your dad and Oliver strike up conversation and start nerding out over...whatever. You didn’t pay attention, your focus fixated on Roy.
He was strutting ahead of you, head held high and that stupid smirk on his face. You rolled your eyes, glaring daggers at the back of his head.
“So what have you been up to?” Artemis asked you.
“Nothing much. I kicked Falcons ass last Friday though. That was fun.” You shrug.
“No way.” She shook her head in disbelief.
“Um, yes way.” You playfully nudge her. “I’ve got in on video, I’ll show you after this torture session.”
“Are you two hens done clucking yet?” Roy asks, stopping at another room.
“Are you done being an asshat?” Artemis sassed back.
“Let’s watch the language, please?” Oliver sighs.
“What? I said hat.” She deadpans.
“Hawkeye and I will demonstrate, then how about we have a little competition?”
“Yeah, whichever one of you gets the most targets gets to...not run 50 laps!” Hawkeye announces.
“Well that’s stupid.” You scoff. “Don’t you know my stamina is not quite up to par lately?”
“Well maybe it would be if you woke up for training on time. Steve has been trying to tell you-“
“If the sun isn’t up, I’m not up.” You cross your arms.
“Oh, so you’re lazy as well as annoying?” Roy raised an eyebrow at you.
“I’m gonna-“ You lunge at him, but he ducks out of the way and you fall on your face.
“Ooh.” Everyone that saw that graceful move winced.
“Wow. So you’re lazy AND bad at aiming.” Roy tsked. “I don’t know if you understand the concept of an archer, but those are some essential attributes-WOAH!” He shrieks when you grab his ankle and tug him down. “Ouch!”
“That’s what you get for mouthing off again.” Oliver shakes his head as your dad pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Get up, losers. I’m ready to beat both of your asses.” Artemis hauls both of you up.
You and Roy glare at each other during the entire demonstration, not paying attention when the pro archers announce the rules and guidelines. You both race each other into the training room, and he growls when you beat him inside.
You bolt after each other as you jump through the course, shoving the other out of the way as you try to hit the target first. He laughs loudly when you miss the first one, then yelps when you shoot an arrow at him, grazing his hair.
“Hey, watch it! I just got it cut!” He whines as you shoot the target.
“Your precious hair is fine, I barely got it.” You rush ahead of him as he loads his bow, aiming for the target in front of you.
You quickly shot an arrow as his nearly hits the target, knocking it out of the way and hitting a bullseye. You turn to give him a cocky grin, yelling when he kicks you out from under your feet. He runs past you, but not before you grab his calf and bring him down with you once again.
“Idiots.” Artemis rolls her eyes as she stomps past the both of you, now wrestling each other on the floor.
You both watch with hopelessness as she hits the very last target, perfectly shooting the center. You groan and flop back down on the floor, dreading the laps you’d have to run. What was even worse, was that you had to run them with Roy. Stupid, arrogant, idiotic Roy Harper.
You had known the guy for exactly 3 weeks now, and you already hated him. You hated how he thought he was better than you. You hated how he smirked at you all smugly. You hated how he was actually really hot. He was buff and surprisingly a good shot. You will never say that though, his ego was clearly way too high for someone his height.
“Artemis, go treat yourself to some down time. You two ding dongs, get running!” Oliver shouts over to the two of you, still sprawled out on the ground.
Roy sighs as he gets up, and offers you a hand. You slap it away and get up yourself, and he raises his hands in surrender. You both get started on your laps, and on your 32nd one you’re about ready to pass out. You groan as you hold your head, feeling dizzy and faint.
“Can’t handle some light running?” Roy comes up behind you, grinning at first before he notices you’re sweating and your pupils are dilated. “Hey, are you okay?”
You respond by blacking out, and he quickly catches you in his arms. You drift in and out of consciousness as he yells for help, your dad and Dick Grayson rushing over to you. Your dad says something, but it’s echoey and indecipherable to you. Roy holds a water bottle to your mouth, helping you drink a few sips.
“...yo. Y/N, wake up.” Your dad lightly smacks your face. You blink a few times, slowly sitting up with Roy and Dicks help.
“That is the dumbest way to wake someone up.” You groan.
“You good?” He asked. “You didn’t drink enough water today, did you?”
“I had...some.” You mumble.
“Y/N!” He scolded.
“I got distracted!” You defend yourself. “It’s not my fault Lucky kept barking at me to take him for a walk!”
“You need to rehydrate yourself.” Dick says. “Your done with laps for the day.”
“Yes!” You grin as your dad helps you stand up. “Maybe I should be dehydrated more often.”
“No!” They all yell at you.
“Alright, Alright.” You mumble, trying to blink black spots out of your vision.
“I think we’re gonna head home.” Clint tells the others. “Thanks for helping her, Roy.”
“Sure.” He acted like it was nothing, but the voice in the back of his mind was telling him to worry and panic.
Roy watches as your dad leads you out of the cave, and he plops down onto the couch. He stared blankly at the tv, which was playing some horror movie Wally and Dick had put on.
He totally wasn’t worried about you at all! And he definitely didn’t freak out when he saw your eyes roll back in your head. His heart obviously didn’t drop when you passed out into his arms. He wasn’t concerned about your well being in the slightest. He hated you! You were annoying and you thought you were the better archer just because your dad was a famous Avenger.
“Dude, you good?”
“What?” His attention snapped back to reality, seeing Dick and Wally staring at him, Artemis, Megan and Kaldur snooping from the kitchen.
“Bro, what is wrong with you?” Wally laughed at him.
“Nothing!” Roy glared at his fellow red head.
“Your face is red, you’re sweating, and you’re bouncing your leg.” Dick blinked at him.
“He’s got the L word!” Wally sang, zipping over to Roy and slinging an arm around his shoulder.
“I don’t have time for this.” Artemis shook her head and left, Megan and Kaldur walking over.
“The L word?” Megan asked.
“Shut up, Wallace!” Roy hissed before he could even open his mouth.
“Dude, you’re crushing on Barton?” Dick snickered.
“Isn’t he a little old for you?” Megan asked.
“The other Barton.” Kaldur whispered to her.
“Ohhhh!” She said. “You guys didn’t know that?”
“You knew?” Wally asked.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Dick asked.
“I do not have a crush on Y/N!” Roy stood up defensively. “You guys are stupid!”
“Roy and Y/N, sittin’ in a tree.” Wally sang, much to Roy’s annoyance.
“K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” Dick joined in, Kaldur chuckling and Megan just wondering what they were doing.
Roy rolled his eyes and stormed off, trying to block out their idiotic singing. He would deal with those punks later, but right now he had a lot of thinking to do.
•
“Wait, they’re coming here?” You trail behind your dad as he goes to the kitchen. “I thought only Uncle Scott and Cassie were gonna be here tonight!”
“Yes, for the football game, dear.” He sighs, patting your head teasingly. “I told you this last week. Now clean up the dog toys.”
“I get why Oliver’s coming, but why does Roy have to?” You complain, ignoring your dads order. “Can’t he watch it by himself? I would say with his friends but it’s hard to imagine he has any.”
“Y/N, he’s coming. And he’ll be here in 20 minutes, so pick up the damn toys.” He says, sternly this time.
You roll your eyes at him but oblige, picking up Lucky’s toys that he leaves everywhere. Once your done you rush to your room, making sure you look presentable.
Wait, why did you care? You hated Roy. He was an arrogant asshole, and a total dick. You hated how slick and charming he was, you hated his stupid smile and wanted to smack it off his face. His smile was dashing and gorgeous, but it made you furious. No, you didn’t really hate him. You hated how he made you feel. Vulnerable and...ew, giddy. You weren’t into all that lovey-dovey shit, no matter how many romcoms and chick flicks your father forced you to watch with him.
Your thoughts are interrupted when you hear the doorbell ring, and you hear Cassie happily saying hi to Uncle Clint. You check your appearance one more time, before walking out.
“Y/N!” Cassie runs towards you and hugs your legs. “We brought chips and salsa!”
“You did?” You smile as you kneel down to hug her properly.
“Well, half a bag of chips and what’s left of Hope’s salsa.” Uncle Scott shrugs, holding said bag out of Lucky’s reach as he jumps up. “So I hear we’re meeting some fellow archers?”
“Yup, my friend Oliver and his old protege.” Your dad nods as he tosses Scott a can of beer, and tugs Lucky off of him. “And Y/N’s arch nemesis.”
“What’s an arch nemesis?” Cassie asked, her innocent eyes peering up at you.
“Nothing, Cass.” You ruffle her hair, and she just shrugs and wanders over to your dad. “Uncle Clint, do you have any paper? Daddy forgot it.”
“Of course we do, come on.” Your dad leads her to the laundry room, which is in the back of the kitchen.
You notice your Uncle Scott grinning at you, a mischievous glint in his eyes. That was never a good sign.
“What?” You raise an eyebrow at him.
“Nothing.” He takes a sip of beer.
“Scott...” you warn.
“You don’t actually hate this guy, do you?” He asks.
“No, I do.” You shake your head. “He’s inferior in every sense of the word.”
“Mmmmhmmmm.” He pursed his lips, that evil glint never leaving his eyes.
“Uncle Scott!”
“Fine! Okay, I’ll drop it.” He chuckled in amusement.
It’s silent for a few moments.
“Is he cute?”
“Scott!”
Then the doorbell rings, and dread washes over you. You suddenly get a little anxious, now nervous about how the night was gonna go. Your Uncle Scott goes to the living room and turns on the tv, peaking over the edge of the couch as you open the door.
“Wassup, man?” Your dad shouts from the kitchen.
“Wassup, dude?” Oliver walks past you, Roy awkwardly following behind.
You shut the door and begin the usual glaring match with Roy, but quickly drop it when your dad carries pizza boxes to the living room, Oliver behind him with soda, beer and chips. Lucky runs over when he smells new people, immediately jumping up on Roy in excitement. Roy lets the dog sniff his hands, but jumps back when he barks at him.
“Ha! Even the dog doesn’t like you!” You laugh at him.
“Oh, haha, very funny.” He says sarcastically as he nudges Lucky away from him with his foot.
“Lucky, come on, boy.” You giggle, taking pity on Roy and pulling your dog away from him, then pat his head. “Good boy, protect us from the scary man.”
“Wow, you’re just so funny tonight.” Roy says dryly, despite the grin on his face. He goes to join the guys on the couch, while you lead Cassie and Lucky to the dining room.
Your dining room is connected to the kitchen and entryway, giving you a view of the back of the couch and the tv. You listen to Cassie as she draws and tells you about her dads latest adventure. Your eyes keep drifting to Roy, even though you can only see the back of his head, and part of his face when he occasionally turns to talk.
“Who’s he?” Cassie whispers to you, even though they would never hear anything you said over their cheering, complaining and hollering.
“That’s Roy.” You tell her. “I work with him sometimes.”
“Is he your partner?” She asks. “Like Daddy and Hope?”
“Kind of, Yeah.” You nod. “Well, actually, exactly.”
“So is he your boyfriend?” She asks innocently, and you nearly choke on your soda.
“Um, I guess not exactly. No, he’s not my boyfriend.” You shake your head, clearing your throat of soda.
“Really? But you looked at him like Hope looks at my daddy.” She says.
“What? When?” You ask. You feel sort of ridiculous, defending yourself against an 8 year old, who barely understood the concept of love in the first place.
“At the door. When Lucky attacked him.” She giggled, reaching down to pet the dog, who’s laying under her chair and staring up at you to beg for food. “Hope looks at daddy like that all the time.”
“Does she, now?” You raise an eyebrow, tossing Lucky the rest of your pizza crust.
“Yup.” She nodded, turning back to her drawing.
You look back over to the guys, smiling in amusement when your dad and Oliver cheer, Roy and Uncle Scott groaning. Roy stands up, grabbing empty pizza boxes and soda cans. You quickly turn back to Cassie as he makes his way over, pretending to have been listening to her the whole time. Lucky growled as he got closer, but you ordered the dog to ‘stay’, and thankfully he did. You didn’t need to deal with your dog biting Roy or anything.
Roy tried not to look at you as he passes, he has to remain inconspicuous. He steals a few glances while he stuffs the pizza boxes into the trash, smiling softly as you laugh at one of Cassie’s stories. He’s surprised you’re so good with kids, since all he knows is your guys’ little rivalry attitudes. It’s actually really cute, your kind and gentle smile makes his heart skip a beat.
You look over at him when you realize he’s been standing there for a few more seconds than he needed to, making eye contact with him. It takes a moment for him to realize he had been caught, clearing his throat and quickly rushing back to the couch, keeping an eye on the growling retriever. You turn back to Cassie and you both giggle. Even the little 8 year old understood what just happened.
“What’s so funny, back there?” Scott turns around to see his daughter and non-biological niece grinning at the back of Roy’s head.
“Nothing.” You both sing, and you turn to signal Cassie to be quiet. You both giggle again when Scott stares at the two of you in confusion.
After the game is over you say goodbye to Cassie and Uncle Scott, then start to clean up. Your dad and Oliver are still chatting away, so it was looking like Roy would also be staying for awhile, since Ollie was his ride.
“Need help?” He asked after he got bored of listening to the two men talk about physics and shit.
“Uh, I guess.” You shrug as you pick up the drawings Cassie made, then gather all the blank paper. “Just grab the trash from the living room, I’ve got this covered.”
“Cool.” He nodded, before doing as you told.
You both clean everything up quickly, then it’s awkward silence again as your mentors blab on and on about arrows, coffee and hero business. Lucky is on the couch, watching the both of you over the back of it. It’s actually quite funny, his eyes fixed on Roy, which made him uncomfortable that a dog was giving him a death glare.
“We have a dart board and pool table in the basement.” You suggest after awhile. “Little competition?”
“Anything’s better than listening to the two grandpas over there talk about taxes.” He agrees.
“Hey! We are very interesting people!” Oliver snaps playfully.
“No killing each other! I’m not driving anyone to the hospital if you decide you throw a dart at the others face!” Your dad shouts as you lead Roy to the basement door.
“I promise!” You call over your shoulder as Lucky barrels over, running downstairs before you can grab him.
“Oh great.” Roy mumbles as you shut the door and take the lead. “Is your dog gonna jump me as soon as I get down there?”
“Lucky’s harmless, you big baby.” You tease, flicking the light on and seeing Lucky had claimed his spot on the couch.
Your basement was pretty big, you and your dad had turned it into, essentially, a man cave. You had a bigger tv down here, and a smaller couch. On the other side of the room there was a pool table and a display rack, where you kept bows and arrows that were either your dads old ones or collectibles. On the other side of the room there was a stereo system that lined the wall, which sat on top of shelves of CDs, vinyls, and mixtapes. The carpet was a hideous red, which your dad insisted looked good. Yeah, maybe in the olden days, pops. Lastly, across from the pool table was a dart board mounted to the wall, Robin Hood: Men in Tights posters on either side (which Scott has gotten as a joke).
“Dang, cool place.” Roy said as he looked around the large room.
“Thanks. It’s mostly my dads stuff from the 80s.” You say. “Y’know how adults are about that stuff.”
“Oh yeah.” He nods.
“Now, ready to get your ass beat?” You grin, picking up the box of darts.
You play 3 games of darts, to which he won and made fun of you over. You had started up the stereo, playing your dads 80s rock mixtape to fill the moments of silence. Then you began to play pool, making quips and laughing if the other missed.
You watched as he lined up his cue, lips pursing and eyes narrowing in concentration. You watch his muscles flex as he prepares, catching yourself totally checking him out. You blush to yourself, thankful he was too focused on beating you to notice.
“Yeah, good luck winning now.” He says cockily as he straightens back up, smirking down at you smugly.
“Thanks.” You flick his nose, before lining your cue up.
You carefully calculate how this will end, grinning when you find the perfect angle. You cheer in victory as you pot the 8 ball, winning the game. He throws down the cue, as you gloat to him. You drop the cue as if dropping a mic, singing that you won in his face.
“Alright, I get it.” He pouts, despite the amused smile making its way to his face.
“So who has the better aim? Who’s better than you? That’s right. Me.” You boast, playfully shoving his chest as Joan Jett starts singing from the stereo speakers.
“You know, you should learn when to shut up.” He growls under his breath.
“Excuse me?” You raise an eyebrow.
Your eyes widen when he pulls you forward, crashing his lips into yours. You stiffen at first, completely stunned. You quickly get over it though, grabbing the sides of his face to bring him farther down to you.
He backs you up, then taps the back of your thigh to silently signal you to jump. You hop up onto the pool table, making it so he doesn’t have to lean down so far to kiss you. One of his hands is tangled in your hair, the other squeezing your thigh as you wrap your legs around his waist. Your hands move from his face down his torso, your hands sliding up his shirt and pressing against his abs. You part your lips to deepen the kiss, both of your tongues fighting for dominance. You feel him smirk into the kiss when he wins, but you don’t feel the need to particularly care in the moment.
Suddenly he jerks back, and at first you think he changed his mind or you did something wrong. Then you see Lucky, who had woken up from his nap and seen what looked to him like Roy attacking you. He tugged at the hem of Roy’s jeans, effectively knocking him to the ground. You doubled over in laughter as your dog climbed on top of Roy, nipping at his arm, which he had held up to block his face.
“Are you just going to sit there or are you going to call off the hound?” He asks desperately, trying to push the large golden retriever off of him.
“Lucky! Lucky, down boy.” You wheeze from laughter, gesturing for the dog to come to you as you jump down from the pool table.
You continue to die of laughter as Lucky happily bounces over to you, Roy slowly getting up and brushing himself off. You pet your dog, laughing so hard you snort when Lucky growls at Roy.
“What is going on down there?” You hear Oliver shout down the steps.
“I told you no murdering each other!” Your dad reminds.
“I don’t think Lucky likes Roy!” You call up, trying to hold back your laughter, since your sides were starting to ache by now.
“Lucky! Come here, boy!” Your dad calls in his ‘puppy voice’. Lucky bolts up the stairs, probably hoping that meant more leftover pizza crusts.
“Roy! It’s time to go!” Oliver yells.
“I’ll be up in a minute!” Roy shouts to him, then turns to you.
“Are you okay?” You giggle at him.
“Fine.” He mumbles, making his way towards the stairs. “Uh, I’ll see you later?”
“Yeah.” You nod, watching him head up the stairs. Then you rush after him and grab his hand. He turns back around and you tug him down by the collar of his shirt into another kiss. He wraps his arms around your waist, lifting you so that your body was pressed against his.
“Roy!”
“I’m coming!” He breaks the kiss, yelling at his mentor, annoyance evident in his voice. He turns back to you, voice and expression softening. “How about I pick you up tomorrow? No interruptions.”
“Sounds great.” You smile up at him.
He gives you one last kiss, before going upstairs. You grin and giggle to yourself in happiness as soon as the door closes, then fall onto the couch. You grab your phone out of your pocket, excited to tell your Uncle Scott about the amazing night you just had, and the date confirmed for tomorrow.
Any cat stories from the past :3
Also cute kitties >.< I am sending them affection
I have quite a few! we used to have so many cats when i was a kid (when my parents divorced they were given away though so dlfdlfd)
Our first cat was Virgule (which means Comma in french). She was named this way because her tail had the shape of a comma. She was a grumpy, queen cat, who would always defend her territory. She was the kind of cat who would come at you and start clawing you so you would pet her. If you stopped petting her before she was satisfied, she would claw you again. So you keep petting her, terrified. Until, when she had enough, she would claw you again before leaving. This cat left us with so many scars.
One day we were hanging out near the house when two big dogs who escaped their home came and started to growl at us. Virgule was a big cat, but even there, smaller than them - but she still started to chase them away. Queen.
Virgule knew how to open doors AND close curtains and she would use her powers to her own selfish needs.
I don't really have much memories of our second and third cats bc they died when i was very young dhfldf
Fourth cat was called Perle (translation: Pearl). She was quite a diva. My sister basically just found her as a kitty and brought her home with her without telling our parents. I still remember my mom coming to the room we were in to say hi, then freeze, and go "why is Virgule brown. And Small." (Virgule was very white.) My sister didn't let my mom any time to protest and just like that we had another cat. We also had a small Maltese dog named Little then. Little was terrified of Virgule, but Perle was a kitten and Little started to really mom her around instead. They were inseparable. (i should also mention for size: Little was smaller than Virgule.)
Our Fifth Cat was found in a pretty similar way. My sister was told to never, ever bring cat home again. The cat was named Chanel because my sister is fancy like that and "ahah Chanel number 5". Perle was super upset at Chanel entering our lives, especially because Little suddenly decided to mom Chanel instead and started to growl at Perle when Perle got too close. The cat ended up running away because of that (but apparently she was adopted by a neighbor and she's still thriving).
The biggest problem with Chanel was that my sister also nicknamed "Kikette" which is like a way to say "little dick" and the problem is that at some point Chanel only answered to being called "Kikette". At some point she ran off to the neighbor's garden and my mom was panicked, ran after her, and kneeled down near the neighbor's bush and started going "Kikette my kikette where are you my kikette!" and it took her like. 10 seconds to realize what the fuck she was saying trying to say and she has cursed my sister over it for so long.
Anyway "Chanel will be our last cat" or top ten words said before a disaster because you forgot to sterilize her. She got pregnant with 4 kittens and she gave birth in my sister's bed at 3am (my sister had to like. call me whispering next door to go look for Mom's because she couldn't move Chanel was GIVING BIRTH on her.) the four kitties were too cute and we didn't have the heart to let go of them, so we kept them. Because the mom was named Chanel, the kittens were named Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabanna. Dolce & Gabbana were really alike as kittens (pitch black kittens), though Gabbana was the only male cat we ever had.
Those four kitties were walking disasters. Gabbana became well known for being the cuddliest kitty in the whole house and would always be cuddling Little at all time. Dolce was a diva who would often stick to her mom. Prada was pissing everywhere. Gucci was the dumbest cat you've ever met.
One thing to know is that Virgule didn't like sharing territories, but this cat was so fucking terrifying that every cats bowed in front of the queen. (she was also so old so that helped).
One day, apparently, Virgule and Chanel were both hanging on the parasol near the swimming pool and whatever happened there, Chanel slipped and fell in the swimming pool. In the 10 seconds that followed, her 4 kittens started running from different corner of the house to her, meowing like their lives depended on it. Chanel got out of the swimming pool on her own while all the kitties were trying to lick her dry.
Like i mentioned though Gucci was dumb as rocks: it's the cat we've seen trying to run and "jump out" of a closed window, totally smashing her face on the glass.... twice.... in a row....
Another day we heard a big BANG in the kitchen followed by the weakest "meow....." and when we ran to see what happened, it turned out that Gucci had tried to enter the 10kg dryfood pack we had against the wall from the top of it, and got stuck into it, her paws caught in holes she made in the pack.
Those are the stories that come out at the top of my head at least. I was 13 when we got separated unfortunately so it was so long ago dlfhdlkfjdl i forgot so many stories.
My sister got a cat since she lives alone that's called Cachemire (Cashmere) that my sister keep calling "Casse-couilles" instead ("breaker of balls" which is how you call someone who truly annoys you). She is ALSO a diva (i think it may be my Sister making that happen) but i haven't really lived with Cachemire so i don't know her as well. All i can say though is that she's a pro at the very popular "decide to have a funny silly feral little time in the middle of the night" and the one time i spent one week catsitting for my sister was how you learn to grow away from "gasp??? is that a ghost???" when you hear a weird sound, and instead develop the keen way to go "what the FUCK ARE YOU DOING" at 5am.
that's all that i have coming up on top of my head at least DLKFJDFLKJDF
so yeah kitties :3c
Day 20: French
Again, I’m late, but what can you do.
This may perhaps be the dumbest thing I ever write, but I don’t care. I’ll let you find out for yourself, but you were warned.
As always, special thanks to my editor @moonberry-chieenne, who helped me cut down on words. Wouldn’t be able to do this without them, so thanks!
Title: French
Word Count: 1000
Summary: Lucas attempts to win Ava over by challenging her to a duel over cultural differences. What could go wrong?
Warnings: This is really dumb, so prepare yourself for the level of dumbassery Lucas is about to get into.
A rare peace stretched out over the warehouse of Unit Bravo. Farah annoyed Morgan with poodle pictures that slowly withered away at the grumpy vampire’s insides, Nat pondered the thoughts of some random philosopher she met centuries ago, and Ava sparred with a training dummy, like usual.
A series of sharp knocks resounded throughout the building. Morgan made a beeline to the door, desperate to escape Farah’s poodle rampage. Yet, the sight that awaited her on the other side of the door may have been worse.
“Oh shit.”
There stood Lucas Langford, his short brown hair kept under a godawful burgundy beret. A single red rose lay between his smiling teeth, and an enormous baguette was held between his arms. All in all, the sight was perhaps the most disgusting thing Morgan had seen ever since Nat had dragged her along to see a play about two literal candles “waxing” poetic about each other and the joys of the waxy flesh. Ok, it wasn’t that bad, but still.
“Bonjour, mademoiselle. If I may be so bold, your beauty could light even the hardest of hearts.”
“What in the absolute fuck do you think you’re doing?” Morgan’s harsh words had no effect on Lucas and unfortunately cannot stop the holy power of his terrible French accent,
“Ah yes, back in France we do like our lovers to be a bit feisty. However, that is not why I am here. Where is Du Mortain?”
“You’re joking, right? This is all some big, elaborate joke? Tell me you’re joking or else I’m going to lose my fucking mind.”
“No, my saucy lover, this is no elaborate scheme. I must speak to your commander, for honor, for glory, and most importantly, FOR THE MOTHERLAND!”
“I’m going to die. I am literally going to die, and it is all your fault.” At this point, Farah and Nat had poked their heads around a corner and caught a glimpse of Lucas. Morgan spun around, her gaze full of ire directed right at Nat.
“You. You taught him this didn’t you?”
“Well… um, Lucas might have asked me for a few cultural lessons and I might have… given them to him.” Nat’s stuttering reply only serves to fuel Morgan’s rage.
“Ava is going to KILL us when she finds this!”
“When I find what?” The thunderous steps of Ava’s feet came echoing down the hall.
Morgan turned to Lucas, the fury in her gaze bright enough to scorch. “If I were you, I would get out of her sight before she squashes you into a mushy pulp.”
“What a ridiculous notion, mademoiselle, I shall face my enemy and show her once and for all the true supremacy of France over England. FOR THE MOTHERLAND!” Lucas dashed toward the towering mountain of vampire muscle, baguette in hand.
“Dear Ava Du Mortain, I hereby challenge you to a duel to prove once and for all that France is the best country of all time! Do you accept?”
For a moment, everything was quiet. Morgan and Nat covered their faces with their hands, while Farah looked on with amazement. Ava stared at Lucas, and Lucas stared back with the face of a man completely ready to die on the hill he had set his life upon. Then, Ava spoke.
“I accept your challenge, monsieur.”
Everybody’s jaws dropped. Lucas’s most of all. He had gone into this expecting to make Ava mad, yank her chain a little to endear her to him. Probably not his best idea, but it was all he had. But now, he actually had to duel the commander of his mother’s team of supernatural agents. And all he had to fight her with was a piece of stale French bread. What could possibly go wrong?
One hour later.
The duel was set for dusk. Ava, with Nat as her second approached the duelling circle they had drawn in the middle of the woods. Lucas, with Farah as his second, also approached the circle. Each combatant had a baguette in their hands, ready to fight to first strike. Morgan stood in the middle of the circle, to act as referee.
“Now, before we get started, let’s go over the rules. I want a good, clean fight, no rough housing, no dirty tricks. First strike wins. Now, fight for your countries!”
Ava and Lucas began circling each other, waiting for the other to strike. Then, as quickly as a cobra, Lucas struck. Ava quickly sidestepped him, bringing her baguette to her shoulder to make a quick, clean strike. Before she could however, Lucas spun around and held his baguette out in front of him. The impact sent him stumbling back a few steps, and Ava used the advantage to quickly thrust her baguette at his chest. Lucas jumps back, and the pair quickly begin a back and forth of thrusting and parrying, each struggling to get an advantage over the other.
Suddenly, Ava touched her baguette to the ground, and struck with a swing so powerful it could’ve split a man’s skull, yet only managed to split her opponent’s baguette.  Lucas caught the other half before it hit the ground and hurled it at Ava’s face, temporarily blinding her. He took the advantage to make one last stand. It was now or never.
“VIVE LA FRANCE!” And with that war cry, Lucas charged forward, only to trip on the baguette half he had thrown. Falling to the ground, Lucas looked up to find a particularly pointed baguette aimed at his throat.
“Do you wield, monsieur?”
“Oui, mademoiselle. I yield.”
“And you admit that England is superior in every single way to France, and that her glory will live on through the eons?”
“Oui.” He whined sadly, like a dog out in the rain.
“Well then, I’m glad we could settle this honorably.” Ava lent her hand to the fallen patriot, showing him mercy. Lucas happily accepted, realizing that maybe, just maybe, his stupid plan may have worked after all.
