My keys clattered against the glass as I turned them to unlock the door, pushing it open the tiny bell chimed the sound filling up the small bakery café. The morning light shining through the various windows illuminating the place. Closing the door and walking over to the counter, I placed my bag and keys before heading over to the light switch flipping them all and turning on the radio, the café lit up as the low noise of the radio flooded through the room.
Over on the other side of the café I quickly reorganized the books on the shelf that customers from yesterday had been reading, I choose a cd from the pile before inserting it into the player, the music tying everything together and bringing the place alive. A small smile splayed on my face, my feet moving me to the kitchen I grabbed some wipes and begin to wipe down the counter before moving on to the benches swaying with the music and humming the tune.
The bell chiming brought me out of my trance, turning to look at the door I saw Seoyeon entering the store, her dark hair framing her face, a halter top paired with some baggy jeans and light-yellow cardigan. She placed her bag on the table I'd already wiped down before turning to me, a smile clear on her face, her infectious aura affecting me, a grin began tugging at my lips as she walked over.
"Morning" She vocalized in a sing-song voice "How was yesterday? Sorry I couldn't be here, mum insisted that I went with her".
"You left me with the shop all by myself." I grunted remembering the events of yesterday, Seoyeon had rung me around this time yesterday saying she wouldn't be able to make it because her mum had needed her help with planning a garden party for her business associates.
 "You weren't alone."
 "Yes, I was."
"No, you had Nali and Haewon here," She sassed "I know they're young, but they work hard. They're good kids".
"I know but they're only here after school Seoyeon." Sighing I smiled up at her from my leaning position of wiping tables. "It's fine, but maybe next time try to give a heads up so I can organize someone to come in."
 "Okay boss!"
"Yah! Stop that" I rolled my eyes and wacked her with the rag before her screech of disgust ripped through the air causing a laugh to ripple out of my throat.
"Okay! Okay! ...meanie" Pretending not to hear that last part I moved on to ask her about the planning, shuffling over to start another table.
"It was boring, honestly what do you expect? A bunch of old people sipping their wine and discussing who has the most successful grandchildren. The food was nice though".
Humming in agreement I finished wiping the benches and started touching up some of the table condiment sets.
"Yeah, well I'll go put my stuff down and start helping open up shop. " I heard Seoyeon say.
Standing up we both went back over to the kitchen to finish opening shop.

The café had been busy this morning, but it was slowing down now before the lunch rush. It was nearing 11am which was my lunch break, I was making the last coffee before my shift ends.
"One Vanilla Latte for Chaeyoung?" I spoke out eyes scanning the waiting customers before a young lady with blond and black hair appeared in front of me.
"Here you go, Have a nice day."
 "Thank you and you too".
Turing around I took off my apron and rinsed my hands before heading into the kitchen. Walking the oven in the corner I slipped on some oven mitts before opening it. A rush of hot air hit my face and I grabbed the tray of pastries I had made earlier placing it on the counter.
Removing the oven mitts, I looked over the pastries to ensure they were cooked, grabbing a small plate I moved a few over before putting the rest in the cooling rack.
5 should be enough besides there's a few different options anyways.
Holding the plate, I got some drinks from the fridge.
"Seoyeon I'm going on my lunch break!" I yelled to her. "Okay! Say hi for me" She responded from the front sounding quite busy serving customers.
"Will do!" I opened the back door keeping it ajar with my foot while trying to squeeze through with my hands full. Stepping outside I put the plate and bottles on the small table we had before sitting down myself.
It didn't take long before I saw a head of blond hair accompanied by golden dog ears walking down the alley cautiously trying not to be spotted by the wrong person.
 "Hey Jimin!"
Worried brown eyes met my own upon realizing who I was his eyes soften and a smile splayed on his face. He got a bit closer before speaking, I stood up to greet my friend.
"Hi Y/N.." Jimin spoke quietly, by now I was used to his small quiet nature, trying not to be noticed by people. Thankfully customers didn't come out here and not many people walked down this alley.
Jimin had been coming to have lunch with me for the past few weeks, I had caught him going through our trash one day looking for food, I had startled him as at first, I had yelled thinking he was a criminal. After that day I would leave some food out on our back table for him with small little notes introducing myself and labelling the foods. Whenever I left chocolate muffins out, they were always left behind. Eventually I walked into him while going for my lunch break, he didn't talk much but he sat down with me, and over time we developed a friendship.
We sat down at the small outdoors table with the food "Seoyeon says 'Hi'. I've got muffins, some croissants and an apple danish, have whichever you like. " I began "Oh and some banana milk and water. I hope this is okay".
Jimin look astonished at the array of pastries on the plate. "Y/N, I can't-" "Yes you can, and you will." I cut him of "Please, I don't have anyone else to spend my lunch break with Seoyeon is working" Although both Jimin and Seoyeon knew of each other they hadn't properly met per Jimin's request when we first started having lunch together, but I'd relay greetings and hellos for each of them.
Jimin smiled but I could see the guilt behind his eyes. "...Okay" a grinned spread on my lips as he reached for a croissant, before he picked it up, he looked to me nervous. I gave him the biggest approving smile I could letting him know it was okay, I grabbed the danish myself before taking a bite.
This batch came out well I thought to myself before swallowing and looking over to Jimin.
"How have you been?" I asked him.
 "I've... been okay".
Not noticing the small hesitation in his voice, I continued "That's good to hear" Munching on my food. "How about you? He questioned. "I've been good, been trying to come up with some new dishes for the new menu."
Tumblr media
Jimin and I continued to talk for the remainder of my lunch break, I noticed that today, much like the past few weeks Jimin hadn't eaten much. I always let Jimin talk any of the left-over pastries from our lunches but recently he's been leaving more left over to take for later. At first, I thought he just wasn't that hungry or wanted to save some for dessert or something later, but it seems like it's more than that. I wrapped up the pastries in one of my food bandanas making sure to include the banana milk he refused to drink but still wanted before handing it over to him.
"Thank you for joining me for lunch again Jimin" I beamed.
"Thank you for letting me have lunch with you and-" he gestured to the bag of foods not continuing his sentence.
I nodded at him, and he smiled back at me.
 "I'll see you around yeah?"
 "Of course."
We parted ways as Jimin continued down the alley before taking a turn, I went back to the shop walking inside closing the door, I walked through the kitchen placing the plate in the sink stuck in thought.
Why is he saving so much food? Is everything okay? Maybe he just doesn't like my baking? Where does he even go after lunch, he goes down the alleys but where do they lead? I hope he's not in trouble or anything. There is a lot of criminals in those alleys, I hope he's safe...
"What's wrong? You seemed lost in thought" Snapping me from my train of worries and thoughts Seoyeon's voice saves me. Turning to look at her she looks concerned.
"It's just-" Not sure if I should continue, I look to the door biting my lip. "I'm worried about Jimin, he's saving most of the lunches and not eating, and he's always walking through those alley ways by himself. I swear I saw some bruises on him the other day." I mumbled just loud enough to hear.
"Oh no.." The worry was clear in her voice despite not having met Jimin, Seoyeon worried about him also. "That's terrible..."
"I know" Sighing and looking back at her.
"Go" Her soft voice flooded my ears "Go after him and see if he's okay, see where he's going".
"But the shop-" "It's not very busy right now I can manage, beside Nali and Haewon will be here soon. " Seoyeon grinned before nodding at me.
Giving her a thankful look and smile I headed for the back door to go follow Jimin, surely, he couldn't have gotten too far.
I jogged down the alleyway from the café before making it to a turn, remembering which way Jimin went I took the correct turn before speeding up again.

 Left
 Straight
My legs were burning from the excessive running and walking.
Geez I need to work out more.
Stopping to get a breath I looked ahead of me an intersection of different alleyways, slowly walking up it, I looked down the left seeing it led to a single right turn, I could hear cars, so it probably led to a road. Straight ahead seemed to also lead to a road after a turn. I rotated to my left to see a dead end, but it had some random boxes and bins around. It even had a few pare pieces of furniture around that had obviously been abandoned by its owner. Something felt off, it gave me a weird feeling and this alley it was way too quiet, I pressed forwards despite the unsettling feeling in my stomach.
As I got further in the alley, I could see things had been thrown about, raggedy, ripped, dirty clothes littered the abandoned couch and surrounding floor. One end of the couch had a jumper stuffed with other clothes and tied at the end almost like a pillow.
It was almost as if someone was living here... Something caught the corner of my eye as I turned to look what I saw shocked me.
Poking out from underneath a mattress that was standing upright leaning in the wall was thick, long, black tail. "What the..." I stepped closer to it, but it flicked away and hid itself behind the mattress. jumping back a glanced around the rest of the dead-end alley. turning away from the mattress and back to the couch I noticed some of the clothes that were littering the lounge had shifted. Panic flooded through my brain as I slowly started to back away from both the mattress and couch.
"I need to leave..." I mumbled backing up to where I had thought the entrance was only to back into a hard structure obscuring my clear path out.
 A wall.
Trying to calm myself down I relax my shoulders, my breathing perfectly in sync with the wall behind me, the matching movement helped calm me down, lowering my heartbeat, but only until I realized.
 Wait... walls don't breathe...

A/n: It's here! It took me awhile as I wanted to get the first few chapters written before publishing any, I hope you all enjoy this series as much I have enjoyed writing it so far. Why is this wall breathing?! (Part of the crew, part of the ship 👀 ) Have a nice day & Thankyou all for reading! 💜

September 30th: Freeday!
WARNING: Slightly suggestive cause these boys be old!
Tumblr media
“Look at the picture our princess sent us!” Shouted Riddle as he put his phone in front of his dear husband. Ace smiles softly at the photo of his daughter, his dear sweet Rose, on a broom with the biggest brightest smile on her face with the late autumn sun bouncing off her ginger locks and sweet freckled face. He sighs as he cooed, “She got your talented nature.” It’s been a month since their little flower grew and joined Night Raven Collage and the pair have finally settled down enough in their quiet home, finally done with that feeling of an empty nest in their rib cages from the first week of missing her. They’ve been busy with work by then, Riddle helping children as much as he can and Ace solving some arrests in the area, sometimes they even worked together on some cases which though the context as to why they’re seeing their husband is sad they are very happy to see their lover anyways.
Riddle stood up from the sofa and walked to the kitchen as their kettle screams for their finished tea, Ace watches from his seating spot with a grin. “We should mail her some cookies soon, I bet she must be studying soon and needs as many snacks to help her out—” The previous Queen of Heartslabyul yelps as he feels freckles hands grab him from behind as he turns to stove off and pours the tea. He doesn’t even have to look behind him to know it’s Ace being needy. The only other proof to prove who these hands belong too was the soft lips that graze against the shell of his right ear. “Mmm~ Cherry blossom, the last time you wore this scent was our honeymoon~” Ace chuckled, rubbing his index fingers up the shorter’s waist up to the ribs, smirking as Riddle purrs gently. “And boy was that a fun time~” He finished as he nibbled that thin pale neck sweetly.
Knock knock
The two publicly groan and sigh as they pull apart from the knocking. Riddle turns around and gives Ace a peck and reassurance, “We can continue later.” With a boop of Ace’s nose, he walks out the kitchen and down the hall to the front door. His blue-gray eyes blinked as he turned the knob and opened the door at the two standing in front of him right on his “Welcome” mat. “Heya Riddle~” “Good afternoon you two.”
Tumblr media
A second glass of wine were filled thanks to Trey as he helps Ace brings over some more snacks to eat, nodding as he enters the conversation, “And then she took the last ham! I had to go back tomorrow after work to get a new one just for that recipe." Groaned Cater. Riddle giggled, "Oh you poor dear, why did you even want to make cheesy ham and potato casserole?" "Because Martha made it look nice so I wanted to try!"
The other men chuckle, ate, and drank among each other as they talk for the later afternoon. It was always a treat to spend time together, they've all been so busy with work and family lives even though they live just a neighborhood away, so when they do meet they always makes sure to have a good laugh especially since their boy joined Night Raven the same time as Rose.
Suddenly green eyes look to the wall clock and a smirk appears. "We should get going now." Said Cater, already standing up with a giggling hum. His dear sweet baker of a husband look at him confused. "Hm? But you said you wanted to stay at least 'til—" He started but the gentle yet still firm tug up of his arm in courtesy of his beloved stopped him and caused him to stand too. Ace tilts his head as he watches the oldest two of the group hurriedly leave with a wave of Cater's hand and a sing-song chirp of good-bye from the ginger's voice, "Bye bye now~ Have fun~!"
Ace looked to Riddle as he sips the rest of his wine as he hears the door shut. "What did you say while I was in the kitchen?" He asked. Poking his tongue out, Riddle licks the wine off his lips as he look to his husband with half lidded eyes littered in full perfect dark lashes. "I may have told him I had some things to do. Some cleaning, some paper work, some exercise~"
The two stare at each other for less than 20 seconds before their lips were locked.
Ace held his Prince of Hearts close as he taste the red wine he just devoured along side his tongue as he enjoys the vibrations of the hum and purr exiting Riddle and flooding into his mouth. Riddle hands grip right onto Ace's button up shirt as they soon fall back to the sofa, legs tangled and hairs already getting messy alongside the black fabric covers.
Bzzt bzzt! Bzzt bzzt!
"Oh come on!" Ace couldn't help but shout as he felt Riddle's phone vibrate in his pocket with the slight sound of the two beeps of the phone ringing. They could easily ignore it but both knew Riddle wouldn't allow it regardless how much he wants to.
Riddle reached down as he sits up and answers the phone call on speaker, "Hello?" "Hey dad!" The two pause when they hear their little girl's sweet voice. Smiling already stitched to their faces as Riddle fixed his hand hold. "Hey there baby girl! How are you?" Ace spoke, his voice filled with genuine joy hearing from her. A giggle escapes the phone speaker, "I'm doing good daddy. I'm walking back to my dorm but I wanted to call." She sounded slightly embarrassed, a thing her fathers knew well after all this time raising her. Riddle smiled and spoke, "Awww, you're free to call us whenever princess." He suppressed his giggle when he sees Ace's eyes narrow at him, as if knowing his mind is saying "Maybe not any time".
Tumblr media
Rose giggles, her red shoes walking alongside the stone floors of the hallways. "I would love to get some cookies dad, I'm sure Thad take some too once he smells them." She joked, shooting a glance at the tall lad next to her with light lavender blue curls and amber eyes behind his round gray colored glasses perched on his strong Roman nose dressed in a open blue cardigan with a periwinkle ribbon around his left arm. He glares back down, "Hey—!"
The girl giggles as she skips ahead of him, her long auburn hair flowing like ribbons against her back. "I'll call you again later this week. Love you~" She said with a sweet smile, in instinct she waves her hand a little as if they would somehow see.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND THE RIDOACEWEEK24 IS OVER ON MY END!
So sorry for @ridoaceweek and everyone else for missing some days or if my stories aren't as great!
Final thing I wanted to add before I leave, these pictures is how I imagine Riddle and Ace's home:

scarlet kisses • mor
Tumblr media
“i don’t know,” you shrugged, bringing your glass back to your lips. “a male has just never made me finish before.”
as you took a sip of your wine, your best friend’s jaw practically dropped to the floor. “what? seriously?”
you shrug again, a small frown on your lips as your take another sip, larger than than the last at the mention of your sex life. the topic wasn’t particularly touchy, but it wasn’t much of a story to tell, just a bunch of tales of disappointment; quite different from mor's pleasureful experiences.
her big brown eyes were widen as she stared at you like a lost deer, before the began to travel down your face and slowly over your whole body, drinking your figure in as if it was her favorite merlot.
"it's not like i've never finished at all, but when i want to, i have to do it myself."
the female in front of you blinked.
sex wasn't a topic she was shy of, it was often sprinkled in a lot of your conversations, but she had never known of your unfortunate sexual history. she had always assumed that your hookups left you satisfied, it's one of the reasons for her secret jealousy towards your lovers. the thought of someone else, a male at that, making you reach the euphoria of an orgasm always made her blood boil with a rage she had never felt before.
it made her heart sing knowing that her theory was wrong, perhaps if you were desperate for it, she would have a chance. a chance to prove her devotion and lust to you, if she would play her cards right.
oh, who was she kidding? the morrigan always placed correctly.
"you don't have to, there's other options than males, you know." she purred, her scarlet lips twitching upwards as the idea formulated into her plotting mind.
your cheeks heated slightly under both her gaze and the suggestion, and you had to straighten your back in order to keep yourself from melting under her pretty eyes.
the friendship between you and morrigan wasn't anything other than platonic, the two of you would meet bi-nightly at her place to share a bottle of wine and gossip or dance the night away, but as time passed, you began to notice different feelings bubble from both of you. the little flirtatious remarks from her had grown bolder, looks and touches lingered, sacred secrets were shared; it wasn't long until you both realized your feelings for each other– admitting them was the difficult part.
"what are you suggesting?" you almost whispered, your voice soft yet tight as your eyes shuttered under her stare.
something about the lighting tonight made your eyes sparkle, mor noticed, and your complexion glow. the moonlight of velaris was always your greatest spotlight, she always thought so, but you had never looked as ethereal as you did this very moment.
her eyes flickered to your lips.
"i think you know, sweet y/n." she whispered back, her velvet voice thick with seduction.
mor batted her eyes at you in a way that made your breath catch in your throat, but it was when the strap of her slip dress fell down her shoulder that you whimpered a little.
she was gorgeous.
"you don't have enough manners to ask me yourself?" you teased. "why, you're almost as bad as those bastard males."
her smirk widened slightly, her eyes finally finding yours once more before she began to lean closer to you, until your noses nearly touched and your breathes mingled.
the new proximity made your heart beat quicken, hammering against your rib cage until the loud drumming was all you could hear as you tried your best not to lean forward. if you weren't tipsy, the rational part of you would have anxious, but the wine numbed the nerves away enough for you to enjoy the way her scent engulfed you. the sickly sweet perfume made you a tad dizzy, but in the sense that you were under her spell, like the odor was a siren song and you were the sailor.
the blond leaned in closer, grazing her lips against your cheek for a soft kiss on the corner of your mouth for a moment, then trailing a short path of lipstick stains to your ear.
her kisses felt feather light, as if she was hesitant that you might be, but they left you even dizzier with each press to your cheek. by the time she had placed the last one, your mind had been filled with fog.
"do you want me to make you cum for me?" she whispered like an enchantress.
"y-yes." you whimpered, easily put under her spell. "please, mor, i need it."
the broken plea that left your lips had the female grinning and a wave of arousal pooled in her core, causing her thighs to rub to together for just a little bit of friction. placing a delicate hand on your other cheek, she sat back a little to look at you.
half-lidded, glassy eyes found her's, your pupils blown with lust and wonder as they blinked at her. she smiled softly at the sight before flickering her gaze down to your swollen, parted lips, the sight making her bit her own.
so many nights she had spent thinking of kissing these very lips, smashing her's against them until neither of you could breathe.
and so she did.

Music’s playing, candles are burning, there's no light beside the sun peeking through the curtains, shining down on her prettiest subject.
Her glass of white wine is being babysat, cause knowing her and how much of a lightweight she was, a few sips were enough.
Leon definitely took a shot before they got started, since he'd never been a model for anything. His last minute nerves made him even more adorable to Zora.
Blk Odyssy had become one of her favorite musicians, thanks to Leon and his impeccable taste. Their new album, diamonds & freaks served as the soundtrack.
Sexy lady
Got me faded
I'm intoxicated
I been watching, baby
Sexy lady
Sweet Jesus, save me
Go on, and rock me, baby
Don't stop it, baby
“Love this song,” she comments, dipping her brush into the deep red paint, using it as one of her base colors.
“I thought you would.” He replies.
“Yeah, you knew.” She hums a laugh, tilting her head to the left, following the curve she's creating for her study of her boyfriend.
“Are you painting me just like I am?” He asks.
“Well, everything above the knees. That's all I can fit in the canvas.” She answers.
“Where'd you get this idea from?” He asks, curious all of a sudden.
“My sisters actually suggested it. They were really excited that I had started painting again, and since you're my muse, it seemed like something really fun to do.” She explains, poking her head out to look at him, snickering at the focus in his face.
“Quit laughin’ at me,” he mumbles.
“Sorry, you're just so still, like you might break if you move. Relax a little.”
“I thought I needed to stay still.”
“Yeah, but not that still.”
“Hm,” he hums, staring at the back of the easel and the sliver of her face that he could see. A smile graces his face as he watches her in her comfort zone.
Still singing along to the music, she takes another sip of her wine and paints another fine line onto the canvas, super pleased with how everything is turning out.
His green button-up covers her thick frame like a dress.
Her feet were tapping against the bars of the stool, her sloppy bun, flopping around with every concentrated turn of her head.
She was just as focused, but he wasn't gonna tease her. He loved seeing this new side of her. She let him into her art world, finally.
Taking her advice and relaxing, he falls into his natural trance of her, when she readjusts the easel, giving him more than just a peek at her beautiful face.
All the while, she was looking at him and back at the canvas, perfecting every curve, dimple, divot with striking blues and oranges, deep reds and browns.
Stealing glances at him, she tugs on her lip.
She knew it was gonna be kinda distracting, but he definitely wasn't playing fair.
Flexing those big arms of his, “stretching”, was already enough and too much for her. And every time he licked his lips, her left leg would tangle with her right. He caught it each time and smirked.
Once he got to readjusting the only article of clothing he had left, her eyes diverted to his lower region and hers began to throb.
Almost finished.
“Jesus,” she mumbles to herself, shaking her head like it would clear the explicit images swimming around her mind.
“You alright over there?” He asks, a hint of amusement in his tone.
“Yeah, I'm good,” she shakily answers, taking another sip, which looked more like a gulp from where he was sitting.
“You sure?” He teases.
She laughs, now looking over at him. His devious smirk does nothing to help the wet spot forming between her thighs.
“You done?” He asks.
“No.”
“I'm distracting you?”
“And, you know it.” She nods, making him laugh.
“You told me to relax. I'm just tryna follow the rules, dear.”
“Yeah, and now your friend is winkin’ at me.”
He simply shrugs. “That's your fault.”
“Mine? How?”
“Cause you're so fine. This happens every day, babe.”
“Every day?” She repeats.
“Yeah. A couple times a day.”
“Wow.”
“You've seen you, right?” He asks.
She scoffs, lifting the brush back to the canvas. “Boy, please. I can't even look you in the eye, right now.”
He snickers, moving out of his pose to further mess with her. Pulling his chair just a bit closer, he leans forward to stare at her and she keeps her eyes trained on her work.
“Zoraaa,” he drags out.
“I'm so glad I got all the details I needed, you play so much,” she laughs, trying her best to ignore his taunting.
“Come play with me,” he continues, almost making her drop her brush.
“Can you get back in your position, please?” She asks.
“Can I put you in a couple positions?” He quips, earning that eye roll that he knew was coming.
“If you let me finish… maybe.”
He holds his hands up in surrender, moving right back into his pose. Zora fans her face, no longer caring if he can see how flustered he's made her.
The next thirty minutes dragged on by and she was finally done, not even getting to sit her brush down good before being whisked over to the couch, him hovering over her.
Bruising her lips with his rough kisses, he quickly discards the scrap of lace that barely covered her ass, as well as his own briefs, before sliding into her with one fluid motion.
Gasping into the kiss, her hands cling to his broad back and shoulders, sinking her nails in as the feeling of him bottoming out with every thrust sends fire through her.
His mouth latches onto her neck, while she lets out every expletive she can think of, into the damp air of her apartment.
“Oh m— my god,” she pants, holding him so close to her body, shivering as his groans vibrate on her skin.
“You feel so damn good,” he rasps.
His tongue trails down her chest, nibbling on her breasts as he rips the shirt open, squeezing her flesh into his big hands, driving her crazy as she cradles his head.
Her feet are pressed against his chest and he leans up to do more damage, his hips rutting against her ass that's hanging off the couch. She looks up at him in disbelief.
His hands have her ankles bound, as she cries and writhes underneath him. Her hands move up and down his arms, back down to scratch his hips as it gets too good.
“Fuc– king me so— good,” she squeals, catching both of them off guard as she releases all over him. His thumb finds her clit, making matters slipperier.
“Yeah, gimme all that shit, baby.” He moans, encouraging another orgasm to happen right on the spot. Her edges were back curly by this point.
“C’mere,” she whispers, pulling him back down to her level to swallow his every breath in a kiss. Her cramped legs wrap around his waist, pulling him closer if that were even possible.
Pulling away, he smirks down at her, taking her in, breathless, sweaty, hungry for more as she stares back at him, ready for his next move.
“So beautiful,” he says, dragging his thumb across her parted bottom lip, “why don't you pose for me, now.”
✿°•∘ɷ∘•°✿ ... ✿°•∘ɷ∘•°✿✿°•∘ɷ∘•°✿ ... ✿°•∘ɷ∘•°✿
Once she got around to actually taking in her painting, she was super pleased with how it came out. So was Leon.
“Can I just say, I'm flattered.” He smirks, cracking up at the look she gives him.
“Stop it,”
“Seriously. That's literally me.” He exclaims, pulling her into his side.
“All of me.” He mumbles, hearing her disapproving groan sound through the space.
“Leon, please!” She laughs. “But, you really like it?”
“Love it, sweet stuff. I told you. Art gallery.” He says, smiling down at her.
She smiles back up at him, shaking her head. “Nah, not yet.”
He raises a brow at her, earning a brighter smile.
“Not yet, huh? So you're getting closer to putting yourself out there?” He excitedly asks.
“Yeah, I thought about what you said and it doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'm just nervous, ya know?”
“Why?”
“I feel stunted. Like, I gave everything up to be someone's doormat and.. I don't know. I just feel like the level of artistic ability has kinda dissipated? And yeah, I know. I look at my paintings and I see what I'm capable of so get that sad look off your face,” she pinches his cheek as he laughs, “I just have my doubts.”
He wipes the frown away, but there's still sadness there. He wants nothing more than for her to believe in herself. Fully.
“It's harder than it seems to cross some hurdles, I understand that. But if you really want this, that's what you gotta do.”
“No, I know. And, I appreciate you for putting me back in front of this here easel. It's been a while, but it's always so much fun.”
“Of course, baby. It's a pleasure watching you in your zone.” He says, leaning down to kiss her temple.
“I cannot show this one to the girls.” She snickers, before looking up at him.
“Yeah, nah. Maybe the top half.”
“Please. I can hear Nique fighting for the extra details, as we speak.”
“That girl is hilarious.” He comments, moving to stand behind her and wrap his arms around hers.
“Funniest person I know, besides myself, of course.”
“And me. Hol’ up.”
“Right, right. Can't forget about you,” she snickers, yelping at the pinch to her butt.
“It's what you get.. talkin’ shit.” He mumbles into her neck.
“Oh yeah, don't try and bill me for that shirt, since you were the one that ripped the buttons off.” She says, making him chuckle.
“One, I would never do that for real, it's an empty threat every time.” He admits, making her laugh. “And two, I can always get the buttons put back on. Or you can just add it to your collection.”
“Oh, I was gonna do that anyway, cause that's how I am.” She smiles like he can see her.
“Something else.” He shakes his head.
✿°•∘ɷ∘•°✿ ... ✿°•∘ɷ∘•°✿✿°•∘ɷ∘•°✿ ... ✿°•∘ɷ∘•°✿
“Why I can't see that one??” Nique asks, pointing to the covered canvas and stomping her heeled foot like a bratty child.
“Cause you play too much, man.” Zora waves her off, pointing to the painting on the easel. “But you can look at this one!”
Nique immediately gasps at how breathtaking the painting was. It's as if Zora had committed Leon's face to memory and captured him in five different lights so realistically.
“Girl, when I say talented doesn't even cover it.” She shakes her head, looking over at her best friend.
“Oh, girl. Stop.”
“Nah, man. This is on another level!” She swats her arm in excitement. “Like, that's his literal face, dude! How do you even do something like this?!”
She shrugs. “I honestly just sat her and did it. He came to my mind and I just let my paintbrush guide me.”
“Wow.” She says in response, making Zora laugh.
“Yeah, I said the same when I was done.”
Staring back at the canvas, she smirks. “So, are you gonna do anything with it?”
“Ah— I might. I don't know yet, really.”
“Cause you know, it would be really nice if someone invested in you snagging a spot at the mint museum to display such a piece.”
Zora squints her. “That's still something you'd do for me?”
“Zora, it's like you forget who I am or something. I'm highly offended right now.” She places her hands on her hips, reminding her of both of their mothers.
“Get your hands off your hips, Roberta! I know who you are! It's just.. I don't know. That was a long time ago and that was the biggest dream I've ever had to give up.”
“It's okay, I understand. But my offers are never conditional to you, dude. You could not even be my friend anymore and I'd still send you the money to do it cause I believe in you. That bozo of a boyfriend was a hater and he fucked everything up, yeah he did. But look at you, rebuilding it right now. Every time you get in front of the canvas do this,” she's eyes wide as she points back to the canvas, “you're getting so much closer to that dream of yours.”
By now, Zora is wiping tears away. Nique frowns and pulls her into a much needed hug. She wasn't expecting to get emotional today, but leave it to her best friend to pull a few tears out of her.
“Sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry. I know you hate that,” she softly laughs, wiping her cheeks.
“It's okay, I think I've needed to let it out for a while.” She smiles, covering her face for a moment to get herself together.
Nique heads into her kitchen to wet a paper towel, bringing it back to cool down her flushed face.
“Ugh, anyway,” she outright laughs. “I really appreciate you. That really does mean so much that you could hate my guts and still help me out. That's the kind of support everybody needs.” She covers her heart, Nique doing the same.
“One of a kind, I know.” She nods. “And it's nothing, seriously. You're my mother’s kid as much as I'm yours. I got you, you got me.”
“I love you, dude.”
“I love you too, man.”
“I've honestly been thinking about getting back out there for a while, but you and Neoma already knew that cause that's what y'all do,” she snorts, beating her to it, “Lovita is close to getting there, she all into Clyde right now—”
“You mean, he's all into her?”
“Right. Anyway, she'll catch on, but Leon asked me a while ago and I've just been sitting on the idea for a while. Maybe.. I wanna paint a couple more pieces and then maybe I can look into it.”
“Yeah, hey! Nobody is pressuring you. I promise. You know we just wanna see you do your best and you are the best. Fuck him and fuck those negative voices he left behind. You're the shit, Jean. Let's ask his ass to come pick up a fucking pencil and see if he won't jam it into his eye, before tryna attempt what you did on this canvas. I'd bet you the air in this room and win. He's a bitch.”
“Okay, okay,” she cackles, “relax, relax. You hate him more than I do, at this point!”
“I could kill him,” she smiles, “because you deserve better and girl, look at god! Better meets you at your favorite place!”
“I know, I can't wait to tell everyone at the wedding, someday.” She giggles.
“Oh lord, that's gonna be the countriest wedding ever!”
“Stop! It's gonna be the most beautiful wedding you've ever been to, shut up!”
“Y'all gon be letting doves go, it's gon be a duck pond somewhere cause y'all love the ducks, flowers of every damn kind!”
“Nah, I'm pretty sure he's already got flower combos to present to me.” She laughs, remembering one of their trips to the shoppe this past summer.
“What?”
“He was asking me which flowers were which one time, and they'd just happened to be my second favorite flower, my mama's favorite and he asked me if I thought they would pair well with aster, which is his mama's favorite flower, and I just kinda looked at him like… I know what you're up to.” She laughs at the giant smile on Nique's face.
“Aw, that is so cute! He thinks he's slick, let him be slick!”
“Nah, I'm not gonna burst his bubble! I thought it was adorable. He's so cute, I can't take him sometimes.”
“Lord have mercy. So, I got a question.”
“No, I'm not having a maid of honor. Y'all ain't killing me, cause I'd make it all of you.”
“You can have three! It's your wedding!”
“Three maids of honor? That don't sound crazy?”
“Nah, not to me. I was gonna do that for mine.”
“Really?” Zora smiles, making Nique laugh.
“See, look at your face! Do it for yours, too! Wouldn't that work out better anyway? Three people to divy up your something old, new and blue. Might be something you've had your eye on.”
“Okay, okay! We're getting so ahead of ourselves, and what if I don't get married? Then I can't get that something new… or blue??”
“Girl,” Nique laughs. “You worried about the gift?”
“Yes, duh. Leon ain't going nowhere. We don't have to get married, honestly. It's just another dream of mine, but I'm not as traditional as I used to be. But, I'd love to get married, too. Don't listen to me.” She cuts herself off.
“No, no. I totally get it. What girl doesn't wanna confess her love to the man of her dreams in front of everyone they both love?! In a frilly dress! With a veil! Or no veil! Big poofy hair! A reception! We'd throw the biggest party, you already know it!”
“Yeah, we would!” She agrees.
“Right! Don't let go of your dreams, keep 'em close. Just in case. Hell, Leon seems like a wonderful suitor so far!”
“Yeah, he’ll do long,” she jokes.
“Now back to this canvas, over here.” Nique says, making Zora sigh super loudly.
“Dominique.”
“Let. Me. See. It.”
“No.”
“Whyy??” She whines again, adding extra syllables to the word.
“Because, you play too much!”
“I'll be good, I promise! I just wanna see it!”
Zora rolls her eyes, before moving to uncover it, watching the joy wash over her best friend.
“Behave. I'm serious.”
“I said I'll be good, girl! Uncover the thing already!”
She does so, waiting for her snarky remarks, but they never come.
Again, “wow” was the way she described this one, too.
“See? I'm lost for words, actually.” She shakes her head. “You've done it again, man. The detailing is beautiful.”
And with that, she covers it back up. “I knew it wouldn't last long.”
“Long, like—”
“Nique!”
“Okay, okay!” She holds her hands up. “But uh.. congratulations!” She puts emphasis on the end of her sentence, stomping her foot again.
“Thank you. I love it over here.”
“Trust me, I love it over there.” She winks, both of them falling into a fit of giggles as she covers the canvas back up.
“Do tell, since I basically just did.” Zora presses as they sit on the stools in her kitchen.
“He's big all over. He makes me dizzy, sometimes,” she laughs. “Baby is hung to the left, and you know how I feel about a curve!”
“Yeah, you love it over there!” She cackles, slapping hands with her.
“Wait, y'all ain't in love too are y'all??”
“Chile, no. As much as we be up on each other, he's my man and I'm his woman and that's good enough for us, right now. I really like him, but we can kick it just as long as I don't gotta kick his ass.”
“My girl.” She laughs. “I told you I'd find you a boo!”
“Thank you, Zora-Jean. My god!” She exasperates.
“You're welcome! That was so hard for the three of you to say! Why?!”
“Because,”
“Y'all are so ungrateful,” she playfully digs.
“Stop it! Personally, I was holding my breath for a while. I didn't wanna thank you too early and then all this bad shit would start happening, and knowing you, you'd think I'd resent you for it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't waiting for the other foot to drop. I'm sorry.”
“I accept your apology, and don't feel bad seriously, I get it. Knowing me, I probably would think that, but I know better! It's one of those negative voices,” she shrugs, “but I'm glad this is a good relationship. You deserve it, honestly. Plus, I'd kill him if he ever hurt you.” She smiles.
“And you talk about Lovita!” Nique cackles.

Midnight - Walter Deville x Reader - Oneshot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
=
The moon will sing a song for me; I loved you like the sun, Bore the shadows that you made With no light of my own I shine only with the light you gave me I shine only with the light you gave me
-
Walter sipped at his glass of blood wine, his gaze boredly scanning the crowd of his followers before landing on his two wives. They were conversing with their families, Lucy bright-eyed as usual while Viktoria almost looked bored; she was always bored when there was no bloodshed.
Walter huffed slightly, checking his watch. It was nearly midnight. Nearly that time. He finished off his drink and handed it off to a butler, walking over to his wives and bidding them goodnight. Lucy did the same with a bright smile, taking his arm and squeezing it lightly before she was pulled off to the dance floor as the jazz band began to play, while Viktoria just nodded.
Every year, Walter would always excuse himself early, on this very day, right before midnight; be it at a party or a simple dinner between the three (once four). To do what? Viktoria didn’t know, she was curious on what her husband of 500 years was doing but he was very closed off about-whatever he did.
But Walter took her nod as acceptance and turned, leaving the party with calculated steps, looking up to see the full moon, nearly gold in its shine as it rose higher in the sky. He checked his watch again. Five minutes. Just five minutes left.
As soon as he stepped into the manor, he practically broke into a sprint, not a soul seeing him as everyone, including the staff, was outside at the party. He rushed to his room, shoving open the dark wood door and locking it behind him as soon as it closed. Not a living being but him would be allowed in this room until the sun rose.
His shoulders dropped as he saw the first beam of moonlight ghosting across the floor of his room, slowly growing against the expanse of the floor. It’s cold and blueish-gold gleam calmed him. He checked his watch. Two minutes.
Walter took a deep shuddering breath, one a human might take when fearful, or anxious. He shed his black suit jacket, threw it on his bed, and walked over to his glass pane balcony doors. He rolled up his sleeves before he pushed away the curtains and opened the doors, letting the moonlight fully into the room, its gentle beams caressing his face.
One minute.
Walter turned his back, walking a few feet away from the balcony doors and sitting down in the direct moonlight, closing his eyes as he faced the rising moon. He took a deep breath, letting his head fall between his shoulders; waiting for midnight to arrive.
30 seconds.
His heart felt alive again, beating harshly against his chest in anticipation.
12 seconds.
His mouth felt so dry, his hands shaking; he had waited a long year for this day, just as he had the last year, and the year before that, and the year before that.
5 seconds.
He had done this for nearly 1500 years, since before he became a creature of the night, an immortal being. And each year, it was the same thing.
Midnight.
The moonlight seemed to turn gold. Wind wisped into the room, soft footsteps suddenly walking towards him from the balcony. Walter kept his eyes closed, but his breathing picked up, his fingers twitching as the person got closer. Soft hands took his cheeks and he tilted into them, his chest falling in a long sigh.
“Hello, my dear” the person whispered, their voice like a breeze and the moon; their soft lips pressing against his forehead. “Right on time, just as always” they laughed gently, their thumbs pressing against the corners of Walter’s eyes. “look at me my love, please”
Walter fluttered his eyes open, tears burning at the corners as he looked upon the woman that stood before him, dressed in practically glowing folds of white and gold, a delicate moonstone diadem placed upon her forehead.
He whispered her name, like it was a prayer to the moon, its goddess.
You.
“(y/n),” he gasped quietly as you smiled and pressed your forehead to his, thumbs rubbing the curves of his cheeks. “you came.” You just giggled, that smile on your lips that he never wanted to leave, so full of fondness and love for him.
“Did you doubt I would? I haven’t missed a day in all these years” You said softly, finally sitting down with him; resting your head against his chest and holding him close, his arms wrapping around your shoulders, his thumb rubbing your exposed shoulder. “Less doubt, more, I still can’t believe you would visit me.” Walter muttered, closing his eyes again and resting his head on yours, breathing in your scent. It was hard to place-you used to smell like blackberries and a dark forest- now; you smelled like-at least closest to- the pull of the ocean and fog before the sun rose.
He didn’t mind it, but…he missed your scent, your old one. It reminded him of better days, when he was able to visit you every single day and night, and not have to wait for this one particular night at midnight.
The anniversary of your death, the only day you were granted the gift to walk among men. The only day he was able to see you. He always felt your presence, could get glimpses of you in a mirror, feeling your hands ghosting across his skin when he bathed in moonlight.
But today was the only day he could hold you, speak to you and finally get a response, to love you as he wished.
You huffed at his words “You think yourself not deserving? Darling, I have told you time and time again,” you pulled back from his chest, your thumbs moving to rest on his chin and bottom lip; gazing into his ever-blue eyes. “Nothing you do will make you underserving of my love”
Walter sighed wistfully, smiling up at you as you moved to sit on your knees, your hands cupping his jaw and cheeks. “How I ever got a chance with you, I will never know” Walter muttered, remembering how you had met; clumsy teenagers, the daughter of the village priest, and the orphaned street rat. Many called him fake in his love for you, saying he was only after your fortune and looks.
And that was true, at the start, but he had soon been entranced by you; the way you looked in the moonlight when you had snuck out with all the other teens for a forest party, the laughter on your lips when he had fumbled over his words as he attempted to compliment you (back then, he wasn’t as smooth as he was now, but now he had over 1500 years of practice). Somehow the good daughter of the priest had taken his caged heart and taught him to love and trust again, then willingly unlocking the cage for her to enter.
You laughed at the memories you surely shared with him, your lips on his nose “I saw behind your mask of iron, you were only protecting yourself, and just as I did back then; I will form my truth about you beyond the words of those who do not truly know you”
Walter sighed, letting his head rest in your hands; knowing he could always trust you to hold him when he couldn’t hold himself up anymore. “You are too kind my love,” Walter whispered, pressing his lips into your palm. “too kind for a monster like me”
You shook your head, nearly kissing him as you leaned towards his face “You were never, and will never be a monster to me; you saved me so many times. From my father, from myself; someone who does that-is not a monster. Not to me.” Walter huffed out a chuckle through his nose, tilting his head up just so as your lips graced his, the warmth of you flooding his long-frozen soul.
His hands found yours, holding them gently as he moved his lips against yours in a dance he had begged to perform for the last year, just as he had for the years before that; he could still remember the first time your lips touched his own.
You were stupid teenagers, holding hands as you ran through the moonlit forest away from the party; giggling from the wine and fermented berries. You danced and laughed, his hands on your waist as you held his neck, nose brushing his jaw. He looked into your eyes, and you looked into his; glancing down at his lips before you leaped into him, your hands tangling into his hair as he nearly buckled at finally kissing you.
Something he thought would only exist in his dreams, because who would accept the orphaned boy, the unruly teen who held the name of the Devil; with the daughter of a man of god, a girl whose hand had been promised to another?
And yet she chose him, you chose him. He had thought that all those years of being ignored by god, his prayers unanswered, had all been attended to at that moment, his hands on your face and yours on his neck as he leaned you against a boulder; his lips traveling your skin like something to be treasured.
And yet, only four years later, at the tender age of 21; you were gone. War had ravaged the land you lived on; he had been forced to fight. The battle had found your village, and he stumbled upon it to find you screaming his name; only for your throat to be slit.
He remembered screaming, tears and blood streaming down his face as he watched you fall to the ground, looking right at him; that love still bright in your eyes. He had killed the man who took you from him with all too much ease; everyone called him a Devil. The speed and ferocity with which he had ended the battle after that, had-according to them-been terrifying.
He had just been fighting for you, for what was left of your family. Your father gazed upon him with cold-yet somehow thankful-eyes. He finally understood the love you had for the Deville boy, and the love he had for you.
But he didn’t care anymore…you were gone, buried beneath your favorite willow tree, Walter’s sword-Harrison-his name back then-marking your grave-the moon hilt still gleaming to this day.
You had always loved the night, the moon especially, you had drawn its designs and stages over and over in your sketchbook. When he had been called to battle, and risen through the ranks; soon had he been asked what he would like for the design of his armor and sword.
A crescent moon, he had said, for that was one of your favorite forms of the moon. And he wanted to keep you with him when he was so far away. Now, that sword marked where your body rested, the village had long ceased to exist, famine had wiped it out. Your grave and the forest surrounding it were the only hints to it left.
He first visited it every year, upon the time of your death. May 22nd, 3:29 pm. One time, he ended up there all too early, on May 21st, 11:55 pm.
And as he sat in front of your grave, under the full moon, its gleam slowly turning gold as the minutes ticked by. He gazed down at your sketchbook, running his fingers along the traces of your artwork, finding one of himself within the back pages.
And when midnight came, he felt familiar arms curl around his chest, a pair of hands he had mourned over grabbing the fabric of his shirt. “Hello, my love” you had whispered, and Walter turned, seeing you; smiling at him as if you never left. You were different than you had been three years before. But you still had that look of love in your eyes; for him.
Walter had been 24 then, but you looked as if death had never touched you, frozen in age; just as beautiful, maybe even more. You looked like a goddess, bathed In the moon's glow. He had broken down in your arms, sobbing as he felt your touch for the first time in three years.
That became a routine. He would return to your grave each year, just before midnight of the day of your death, and wait; closing his eyes as the moon turned to gold, and your hands held his face.
And he would have you, finally have you; to hold, to love, to have. Until the sun rose. You would kiss him one last time, tell him to be good, and you would disappear as the sun rose upon the horizon.
1500 years, 1500 of this tradition. Soon into it, he learned that he didn’t have to be at your grave for you to visit. All he had to do, was sit in the moonlight. It wouldn’t matter where he was, you would always find him.
He remembered the first time he visited you as a vampire, it had been just after he destroyed the country that invaded your home, after he killed the king that demanded your murder. (not really, but he had ordered the death of your land nonetheless.) you almost looked…disappointed, and he asked why you were, wouldn’t you want for him to live forever? To be strong enough to never die? To take revenge and protect your home?
“I can only visit you once a year my love, yes I can see you, and speak to you in dreams; but until you take your final breath-we cannot be truly together. I do not wish for you to die, but I do not want you to fear your death. My arms are forever open to your soul Harrison. You will not be dammed to hell, but welcomed to my realm of night.”
You spoke so elegantly that night, a trait of the blessed Walter supposed. He did believe your words, that when, or if, he did die; he would join you, not go to hell as so many people, including your father, claimed he would. But-…he really had no answer for this, but he didn’t know why-he feared death so suddenly, why he was so stubborn to be powerful, to be strong enough to topple nations.
Even to this day, he didn’t have an answer…the easiest one was, he was just scared. He didn’t know why he was, but he supposed everyone feared death, some were just-more easily accepting of it.
Walter’s breath caught in his throat at all the memories, memories that always seemed all too fresh upon each midnight of May 22nd. You gazed into his eyes, smiling softly. At some point, you had moved him to lie down in the moonlight, allowing you to rest next to him, your head on his chest. “Soon I have to find a new bride” Walter muttered; eyes locked on the golden moon that slowly disappeared behind the doorway of his balcony.
You just hummed. You did not wish for him to die, but you wished for him to live his life as if he was human. He was now only sitting here, complacent, waiting for blood and stuck in one place. During the first 200 years of his, new role; you watched as he explored the world, tasted the culture of everything, enjoying his newfound eternal life.
You wished you could be with him, or him with you; but the first was impossible on any other day than today, and the 2nd meant his death. Either way, maybe your-involvement, would bring life back to…well his life. He was bored, you could tell; he ate, drank, did business, met with the three families, entertained his now two wives, and talked to you at night.
There wasn’t much more to it than that. And when you were teens, just barely getting to know each other; he had dreamed to explore the world and all its riches. He wanted to live, to live comfortably, to not worry about where his next meal would come from, to be free.
And now, he had practically chained himself to a life of solitude. And he hardly realized it, the chains of the life of the poor orphaned Deville boy he had tried so hard to break, had only been replaced with those of Lord Deville, of a man who was getting bored of his own existence.
Of a man whose only love had died when they were young, and could only see once a year.
You sighed, pressing a kiss to his jaw, closing your eyes as he held you close. Sunrise was in only a few hours, dwelling on the past and the uncertain future would do you no good in enjoying your limited time with your love.
Your time together was quiet, and comfortable. Nothing more than star-crossed lovers meeting on a brisk clear night filled with stars and galaxies.
All too soon, to both of you, sunrise came. You sat up as the first glimpse came across the horizon. “time to go” you whispered, turning back to Walter as he slowly sat up, looking into your eyes. He didn’t want you to leave. “until next time my dear, be good” you kissed him one last time, and as the sun gleamed into the room, you were gone.
He could still feel your presence, but he couldn’t see you, or feel your touch on his skin. That would have to wait until the moon gleamed upon the manor next year at midnight. “until next time” Walter whispered, resting his chin in his palm and pressing his fingers to his lips, already wanting to kiss you again. “until next time.”
-
His ears rung painfully, fire spreading across his skin, his arm pulsing as his blood poured onto the blazing marble floor. everything hurt, so badly; like his entire being was being burnt by the cruel fires of hell.
He took his last screaming breath, and everything went black, the heat of the fire slowly ebbing away until it was replaced by a cool comfortable breeze.
Accompanied by blackberries and dark forest. He took a deep breath, suddenly feeling lighter than air, and so much more alive than he had in the last 1502 years. He felt soft hands on his jaw, and he curled his hands around their wrists, opening his eyes to see; you.
Smiling down at him like he still deserved the love you had for him. “Hi” Walter whispered, closing his eyes again as you leaned down to kiss his forehead. “Hi” you whispered back, helping him sit up, and sitting down next to him; the two of you were surrounded by a familiar forest, a willow tree bathed in moonlight hanging above.
“Guess I’m dead now eh?” Walter muttered, resting his forehead on your shoulder, letting his shoulders fall and finally relax. He thought he would be a bit more…peeved, cheated maybe; at his death, but instead, he felt a release, relief even. You hummed in confirmation, running your hands through his hair and your nails down his neck and spine; chuckling at the shivers that followed your hand.
“so” Walter sighed looking up at the full moon, gold in its glow. “what-what do you do? In here?” you smiled, taking his hand and pulling him up to stand. “(y/n)?” in a whirl of colors and stars, you were suddenly on a moonlit beach, the waves gently crashing against the shore. Walter whispered your name, his eyes wide as he took in the sight.
“I am not bound to one place, just as I was able to visit you every night, but unable to be seen or heard; I can travel the world however I like, it must simply be night” you whispered, resting your head on his shoulder and wrapping your arms around his waist, sighing happily as his arm took your hips.
“we can go wherever we want” Walter muttered, his eyes scanning the horizon. He had so many places he wanted to go, with you; places he had visited before and knew you would like-but were unable to see because you weren’t really there with him.
But now, now you had true eternity, together.
Finally together.
Walter turned to you with a smile, taking your chin and kissing you deeply, the moonlight silhouetting your bodies as you curled into his arms.
Finally together.
-end-
fuck i love how this turned out so much-Walters lore for this piece is hella different than ouad, clearly, but yeah-inspired by fear street 1666, the moon will sing, and ghost/goddess lover tropes.

Chapter 4. Killing me softly
{I felt he’d found my letters and read each one out loud
I prayed that he would finish but he just kept right on
Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

Series masterlist here.
Chapter 4 is here early :)) hope you enjoy!
A little peak into Matt and Alli’s history and a little Marci time.
CW: Fluffy Matt & Alli + a touch of angst.
<3<3<3
“You slept with him?!”
“Oh my god! Will you please keep your voice down?” I whisper-shouted at Marci as we walked down a densely packed street.
She sent me a sharp glare in response. “What did you fall and hit your pretty head on the pavement you absolute idiot?”
I rolled my eyes at her dramatic words, smiling pleasantly at the waiter who greeted us as we sat down at Vincenzo’s. We’d been coming here for lunch weekly for as long as I can remember, even when all we could afford was a glass of wine and the complimentary breadbasket. “It’s not like it was planned, it just kind of happened.” I shrugged.
“I’m literally going to kill you! As if anything ever just happens with you, Allison Blake.” We ordered our drinks in between her scolding me. “You’ve got pro and con lists for your pro and con lists.”
“That’s slightly dramatic.”
She stared at me as if I’d grown an extra head. “You are out of your goddamn mind, your stupidity astounds me, seriously.” She sighed exasperatedly, fanning herself with her menu as if to cool the heat of her rage. I’d scarcely allow anyone else to speak to me like that, Marci wasn’t anyone else though, my best friend since freshmen year of undergrad. “God why him, you could have your pick of the bunch, couldn’t you choose someone else? Anyone else!”
Marci wasn’t particularly fond of Matt.
“I didn’t ask for his hand in marriage, Marce, it’s just sex.”
The look in her eyes then made me sick to my stomach. Glare long gone, no remnants remaining. The striking embers of her frustration were gone too, in its place was something so gentle, so sympathetic, pity. I swallowed the lump in my throat. “Alli.” She tilted her head slightly, silently urging me to say what she knew I knew she was thinking. I took a long sip of the wine that had been placed before me. Just sex. That’s all it is.
It had been three weeks since that night at Josie’s. I’d seen Matt every second night since. The sound of his voice was heavy on my mind, the smell of his cologne, the feeling of his fingertips dancing over my bare flesh. I blinked heavily; there was nothing else. I had thought of nothing else since. It was just sex. He never stayed after, one of us always went home. Either way, when the light of morning came streaming through my window, I was alone with nothing but the ghost of his touch. It was just sex because neither of us ever slept over. It was logical, obvious to me in that way we lived our lives, as usual, there was no difference… The dead of night, however, was ours; ours to talk, to laugh, to feel nothing but each other. We’d decided to give friendship another go; well, he had asked me to try, and I’d reluctantly agreed. We were friends again, so it was just sex, again.
“It’s different this time.” She opened her mouth to respond but I continued. “We were bad at it last time, bad at… Compartmentalising. It’s not hard though, it's clear and finite we have boundaries, we are friends, and we have sex, that’s it.”
“That’s it?”
I nodded, finishing my drink in one gulp.
“That’s it.”
Marci had rested the tip of her index and middle finger of my pinkie for most of lunch. I didn’t question her motives, nor did I address the looks she gave me. She didn’t think we could do it, keep the physical separate from the emotions. She just didn’t understand. It was different in college, I was naïve, and I couldn’t control my feelings, those feelings were gone. It was different this time, nothing like before.
Marci asked me how it was different this time. I complimented her new watch before ordering another drink. When she asked again, I told her “It just is.”
I was grateful to be so swamped with work, it left less time to dwell over Marci’s reservations and the smell of Matt that had begun to linger on my sheets. I had a preliminary hearing in two days and my nerves were fraying quickly. I’d been working on this case for months, Daniel Briggs, a crook cop with a dozen complaints filed about him that never saw the light of day. They were always stricken due to some bogus circumstance, but I saw it for what it was. Violations of civil liberties. Excessive force, obstruction of justice, unlawful arrest, racial profiling, you name it. The thing about being a cop and doing wrong? You’ve got a whole squad of buddies ready to vouch for you. The thing about going after a decorated NYPD officer? Not exactly the best way to make friends. I was losing sleep over this case, witnesses weren’t exactly eager to come forward, who wants to testify against a cop? If I couldn’t pull together enough evidence to push this through to trial, I could kiss any chance of building a solid case goodbye, the few witnesses I had were hardly going to stick with me if I failed now. I knew there were others with worse experiences at the hand of Briggs. One of the most striking moments I experienced as an intern was seeing the hysterical woman leaving the DA’s office, her son had died in what was being officially classed as suicide by police, but she swore black and blue that her son was targeted by officer Briggs, she said there were witnesses who’d testify to it yet she was dismissed.
I pressed the heels of my palms against my closed eyelids as I hit another dead end. Subpoenaing the NYPD’s logs had proved completely unhelpful, whatever had happened the night that boy died and every other night in question when Officer Briggs was involved was either incredibly vague or meticulously documented painting him as the dutiful hero. I ignored the buzzing of my phone as I continued to re-read file after file.
“Alli, your dad is on line one for you, says it's important.” Came Lauren’s voice from the door of my office. I offered her a hum of acknowledgment, pressing the phone to my ear with my shoulder as I continued to skim over the words before me.
“Dad?”
“Allison, glad you could finally spare a second.” I closed my eyes for a moment, willing the sigh to dissipate before I let it out. “Your mother and I are going to be in the city for a spell, we wondered if you were available for dinner.”
I leaned back in my seat, asking him when.
“Tomorrow night.”
“I can’t tomorrow, sorry I’m working on a big case, but I can on Saturday night? Will you still be in the city?”
A huff of discontent sounded through the receiver. “Well yes, we will be, but we were really hoping to dine with you tomorrow night.”
“Why tomorrow night, is there something on?”
He sighed exasperatedly. “Can parents not want to spend time with their offspring sooner rather than later?” I opened my mouth to respond but he beat me to it. “Good lord, Allison, you act as though we must have some ulterior motive in wanting to spend time with you.”
A headache began to form at the base of my skull. I adjusted my rings, clenching my jaw for just a moment before opening my mouth to respond, the energy was drained from me in but a moment. “I just… I’m sorry, dad I can’t tomorrow night.”
“Well, we’ll give the Mitchells your regards then, they had been quite pleased with the prospect of seeing you.” There it was. No ulterior motives my ass.
When I’d told Matt my parents weren’t especially doting, I wasn’t really attempting to make a joke. I likely laughed at the thought, but the truth was it was the best way I can think to describe them. When I was a kid, I’d never felt particularly welcome in my own home. It never felt like mine. My parents were very successful and even more so ambitious. They’d both been born into old money, my father’s family in oil and my mother's in tobacco. Growing up, I tended to believe it was their fear of not being wealthy that pushed them to work so hard. It wasn’t until I realized that my mother filled her days with travel, spa appointments, and lunch with the girls that it dawned on me that perhaps she wasn’t so busy with work. I wondered on occasion if she was merely avoiding me. It was apparent to me early on that I was more of an inconvenience to my parents than the object of their affection. I was certain my parents were unaware of my existence most of the time. When they would enter a room, I was in, if they took note of my presence their only reaction was a startled one. It was as if I was a stranger, an unwelcome visitor in their home. They would gaze at me and behind their eyes, I saw nothing, no recollection, no warmth, only expectance and something I assumed was their search for the correct words to speak to me.
Richard and Sylvia Blake were not easily impressed. I was the top of all my classes in high school and college, I played tennis, chess, the piano, the violin and I excelled at each of them. I was in the honor society; I was valedictorian my senior year and I graduated Colombia Law School Summa Cum Laude yet there was not a single moment in my life that my parents had commended me. They liked to have me at dinner parties with their friends so they would resent their own children for not having such attributes, but when the guests were gone it was as if I simply ceased to exist.
“Yes, I suppose you will just have to tell the Mitchells that your daughter was unavailable for Hors d’oeuvres and light chit-chat.” I wasn’t sure I had ever taken that tone with my father before.
“I am your father, Allison, do not ever speak to me with such disrespect again.” The ache in my skull grew, as did the papery feeling in the tips of my fingers. “Tell me, next time I wish to have your company shall I first make an appointment with your receptionist? Perhaps, I’d have better luck if I were to schedule dinners six months in advance.”
I did not respond, only sitting in the utter silence of my office, only accompanied by the low hum of the static on the receiver. The next sound that filled my ears was a solitary click followed by the dial tone. I wasn’t sure how much time passed with me sitting there, phone still against my ear. Lauren’s voice filled my ears next after I dialed her desk.
“Next time my parents call your desk tell them I’m only taking work calls on this line.”
She asked me if I was okay. I told her she could call it a night and head off.
The only people still in the office when I left were security and a couple of administrative staff. My neck was stiff from being hunched over my desk and my stomach grumbled pleas for nourishment. I rubbed at my shoulders, attempting to ease the tense muscles. I’d decided to drive to work this morning, telling my driver to take the day off, I filled his paycheck, nonetheless. It was nice to drive occasionally, I didn’t get the opportunity very often, but it was satisfying to feel so in control. Relief flooded me as I spotted my car; the feeling dissipated almost instantly as I noticed something beige on my windscreen. I halted my path for a moment, studying the object. Taking a cautious step toward the bonnet I quickly realized what it was. Beneath my windscreen wiper sat a thick manilla folder, ‘ADA Blake’, inscribed across it in marker. I slipped it off the glass carefully, a glance inside showed a series of sheets each with an extensive list of names and addresses. I furrowed my eyebrows as I continued reading, my breath hitched as I read the next page, finally understanding what I was holding. I glanced around me then, surveying the area for signs of life, my eyes caught on a figure in the distance. Clad in black, the shadows seemed to curve around him. I knew who he was, the devil of Hell’s Kitchen. My heart rate picked up as nervousness washed over me, glancing back at the file in my hands my confusion grew. He had put this here, I know he did, but why.
I certainly wasn’t the president of his fan club. I’d commented on his extralegal activities only last week, asked by a member of the press what my take on the man in the mask was.
We do not need a lunatic in a costume beating people to a pulp to clean the streets, his cause is noble, I have no doubts about that. However, the only thing that Daredevil is achieving is perpetuating the cycle of violent crime that plagues this great city.
That is what I had said about him. I stood by the statement that is what had made this even more perplexing. The devil had just handed me a compiled list of witnesses who could testify against Officer Briggs, names upon names as well as their specific grievance with the dirty cop.
“Why?” I called into the darkness.
I was met with only silence in response.
My phone began buzzing the second I walked through the door of my apartment. “How come your apartment building smells like peonies and mine smells like stale beer?” My eyebrows furrowed at Matt’s words. It didn’t dawn on me until a series of knocks sounded on my door.
“Matthew Murdock, what in gods name?” I spoke into the phone as I opened the door, his smiling face greeting me.
“Hi, I brought dinner.” He held a takeout bag up beside his head for emphasis. A range of emotions flooded me in that moment.
“I- you- why?”
His smile grew. “You gotta eat.”
“How do you know I haven’t?”
He raised his eyebrows at me, smile never faltering. “Have you?”
A huff left me. “You are so annoying.” There was that stupid smirk of his. “Get in here already, Murdock, oh and I get first dibs on whatever you’ve got in that bag.”
His laughter filled my ears as he stepped past me, arm brushing my own in the process. The smell of Chinese food caused my stomach to grumble painfully as he set out the takeout containers on my coffee table. Settling in beside him on the sofa, I popped a dumpling in my mouth, humming contentedly at the taste. Matt asked me about my day as we ate, and I answered honestly. I’d already told him about the Briggs case, sparing most details, of course, he knew it was kicking my ass.
I leaned my head against his shoulder when I was finished, staring ahead. “Thank you.” I breathed. His lips curved upward ever so slightly as he tilted his head toward me wordlessly. “For the food,” I added, knowing it was unnecessary.
“Are you okay?” I hummed in response to his words. “I’m not sure that’s true.”
“Why are you asking?”
He breathed steadily beside me. “You seem… Off.” A beat passed between us. “Isn’t that what friends do, ask?”
“Is that why you’re asking? Because we’re friends.” The word felt odd in my mouth, that’s what we were I supposed, friends with extra benefits.
For a moment I wasn’t sure he was going to respond.
“What happened, Alli?”
I shrugged in response. “I’m just tired, I guess.”
“That’s not all.” His fingertips found the delicate flesh of my wrist, drawing circles that stopped me from adjusting my rings.
“I can’t lose this case, Matt.”
His fingers stilled for a moment before wrapping gently around my wrist, he squeezed once. “You won’t.”
I shook my head. “All those families, that kid who was killed, it can’t be for nothing, I can’t let it be for nothing.”
“You won’t.”
“Matt.” I paused, closing my eyes momentarily. He was silent, awaiting my next words. “You don’t know that.”
There was another beat of silence. He moved beside me, and I lifted my head from his shoulder, we were facing each other now, and his glasses were still on, but I wished they weren’t. I stared at my reflection in the lenses. “What happened to being unbeatable?”
“You’re not funny.”
“I wasn’t trying to be.”
His grip hadn’t faltered on my wrist until he slid his fingers down to intertwine our fingers. “Do you want to know why I’m so sure you’re not going to lose?”
I leaned my shoulder back against the couch, watching him intently. “Sure.”
“I have never, ever, known you to let something go once you set your mind to it. Even if things don’t go your way the first time around, you keep fighting, keep trying until you get it done.” I blinked at him. “God knows your stubborn determination has kicked my ass a few times.”
“Just a few times?” I teased; my voice quiet now.
He laughed, tucking some hair behind my ear, his hand remained at my cheek after. “More than a few times.”
I clicked my pen in a series as I listened to the professor drone on about ethical procedure. This class had to be for the sole purpose of weeding out the kids who weren’t so dedicated to law school. The slow somber click of my pen was far more interesting to me in that moment.
“Could you stop that please.”
I paused my movements then, glancing over to see the boy who’d spoken to me, not a question, I noted. Matthew Murdock, how to describe him, my nemesis was perhaps the most apt description. We’d known each other all of three weeks and in that time, he had spared no opportunity to correct, attempt to outsmart, or plain disagree with me in every capacity. I hummed slightly in response, making sure to unclick my pen as I spoke.
“Of course, sorry.”
His lips upturned smugly.
Another click of my pen caused the grin to drop just as quickly as it had come.
I leaned my head into his hand slightly. “Was that all that was bothering you?”
“Mhm.” He frowned at my response. I hadn’t spoken aloud because he’d always had an uncanny ability to know when I wasn’t being honest.
There was silence once more. We sat comfortably in it for a long while. His arm laid across the back of my couch at some point, heat and his cologne wafting toward me.
“Do you still talk to anyone from college? Other than Marci, obviously.”
My eyes narrowed at his abrupt question. I shrugged once. “A few people.”
“Anyone of note?”
I breathed a laugh. “What exactly qualifies someone as noteworthy in your eyes, Matthew?”
He shook his head, shrugging nonchalantly, or at least that is how he’d attempted to make it seem. “I don’t know, it was just a question, forget it.” I glanced at him, bumping my shoulder against his chest teasingly.
“Absolutely not, you are not getting out of this one so easily!” He huffed at my words. “Why do you want to know?”
“I was just making conversation.”
A laugh bubbled in my chest. “Yeah right, what’s the real reason.”
“I just wondered.” He put his hands up in mock defense. “I didn’t really keep in touch with anyone but Foggy, so I just wondered if maybe you had.” My smile grew. “Kept in touch with anyone.” He was really overexplaining now, I knew I had him.
“Just ask me.”
He furrowed his eyebrows, hanging his head slightly and smoothing his palm over the leg of his pants. “I’m not sure what you mean.”
I remained silent, staring at him keenly. He was not getting out of this, no matter how much he dodged and played coy. He remained still, not offering me anything in response, I mirrored him. This had, evidently, become a stand-off. “You were a popular girl, you had a lot of friends and stuff.” He murmured.
“And stuff?” He clenched his jaw as I echoed his words. “Matthew Murdock, just ask me if I still talk to Logan.”
He took his glasses off then, rubbing at his eyes. A sheepish expression crossed his face as he tilted his head in my direction. “Well… Do you?”
Logan had been my boyfriend in my final year of law school.
“No.”
After a beat his head turned to me, sightless eyes settling around my cheek. “Why?”
“It just.” I swallowed heavily, shoving the thoughts of the night in the bar far from my mind. “Wasn’t meant to be.”
He nodded slowly. “Okay.” I could hear it in his voice then, the guilt he felt. Matt hated Logan; he’d never been particularly silent about it when we were in college. There was always something. Logan is too pretentious, he thinks he’s owed the world, he’s a spoilt rich kid who just decided to go to college one day. There were a myriad of things Matt had accused Logan of, those were the ones at the forefront of my mind.
To be fair, Logan didn’t like Matt either. The latter always said it was because the former was an elitist who couldn’t fathom the working class; that wasn’t the reason.
The day I’d met Logan was fresh in my mind. Unfortunately, not because of how nice he’d been to me, how sweet and unassuming he’d been. No, it was vivid to me because of what had clouded my mind so fully that I walked right into him, spilling his coffee all over the both of us.
Today was it. It had to be, I couldn’t spend another minute swallowing it down, either he would feel the same or he wouldn’t it was that simple; or at least that is what I told myself as I paced the corridor. I felt confident I wasn’t delusional, that I wasn’t alone in my feelings. The lingering touches, the easy conversation couldn’t be overlooked.
Matt Murdock and I had been sleeping together for almost six months now, we’d known each other since undergrad but we mostly loathed each other until Law School started and I begrudgingly befriended or more accurately gave into the duo that was Matt and Foggy. Regardless of how it started, here we were. For two years now he had been one of my closest friends, the one person I told everything to, including even Marci. The unlikely friend I’d made, the agony we’d navigated side by side, the secrets we’d shared, the laughter, the heartbreaks, the defeats, the triumphs. The way we’d protected each other from every hurt and patched each other up when that wasn’t enough. Yes, today had to be the day I came clean.
My hands were shaking as I rapped against the door of his and Foggy’s dorm. I waited with bated breath, going over what I planned to say in my head, eyes screwed shut tightly.
“I need to tell you something!” I spoke the second I heard the door open, it was not Matt, however, who stood before me. I took in the girl in front of me, she was vaguely familiar to me, I knew her name at least; Elektra. “Oh, sorry, I thought you were someone else,” I murmured quietly; eyebrows furrowed in slight confusion. There was not another moment in my life where I could say I felt as stupid as I did in that second. She stood before me, modelesque clad in only a worn Colombia University T-shirt. Matt’s T-shirt. An odd kind of heat traveled up my spine, white-hot and searing. My throat was dry and there were no words, my stomach churned as Elektra gave me an expectant look.
“Are you looking for Franklin or Matthew?”
I blinked rapidly. “Matt, but you know what, it doesn’t matter actually.” I took a step back. A call of my name brought my attention from the woman before me. Judging by his wet hair he’d just come back from the shower block.
“Alli, what are you doing here?” He didn’t sound like him in that moment, I wasn’t sure if it was the heavy nervousness that coated his words as he regarded me or if I’d just never really known him to begin with.
“I just, uhm, I was just coming to talk to you…” I paused momentarily. “About the mock trial, just wanted to see if you were ready is all but I can see that you’re busy, so I’ll get out of your hair now.”
He shook his head, swallowing and fiddling with the wet towel that hung over his shoulder. “Allison, this is, ah, this is Elektra.” He rubbed the back of his neck and I nodded wordlessly. “My girlfriend.” He added, just a touch quieter now.
I continued nodding, as if unable to do anything else as his words processed in my mind. My eyes were stinging now, and I felt like I was going to be sick. I hated the feeling that spread over my body, I never wanted to feel it again. God, I am far to smart to be such a complete idiot. “Right.” I nodded once more before biting down on my lip so hard I was surprised I hadn’t drawn blood. “Right, well I’m sorry to have interrupted your morning, uhm, I should get going. It was nice to meet you, Elektra.” I spoke, turning swiftly and fleeing the hallway, hands fisted at my side. My chest was heaving, and my heart was racing. My eyes kept stinging no matter how many times I blinked.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Reader x Cassian - Hellish Prompt: Reader is an assassin/spy that was caught and azriel has spent months torturing her for information and can’t get anything out of her and cassian eventually goes to see who this assassin/spy is and the mating bond snaps and cassian beats the $hitt out of az bc of the mating bond instincts and rhys has to intervene and break up the fight (i was thinking this could switch between azriel’s POV at the start and then switch to cassian's POV)
AN- this was SO fun to make. Please more requests like this!! I love the idea of unexpected mates!
TW -blood/ blades.
Drip, drip, drip. Copper smell filled the small room. Blood leaked down the drain in the floor. You wheezed a laugh bitterly and spat on the ground at his feet. Azriel's rage simmered calmly under his dark shadows. They coiled, ready to strike. Wanting to strike. The sound of your feeble laughs was practically the only sound Azriel had gotten from you for the first week of torture.  The second week was worse, even for him. Truth teller revealed nothing when he gouged into your skin from the bottom up. Truthfully, he was impressed beyond measure. But that didnt mean that he could stop the job at hand. He had to know, and wished he didnt have to do this kind of thing to get the information from you. "Listen..." He sighed, cleaning his blade. He was always nervous whenever he had a back turned to an enemy, no matter how well they were restrained. But he trusted his shadows enough to tell him if something was wrong.  "If you just.. Cooperate and tell me where the Queens are, we can let you go. No trouble, just releasing you back to Rask." He tried to keep his tone neutral, but he was nearing an exhaustion point. Torture every day for two weeks had its toll not only on the victim, but the dealer as well. His shadows seemed to be growing restless too, waiting for a chance to strike.  He watched your reaction from the corner of his eye. Noted the way your head hanging loosely seemed to gain a bit more strength before you spoke. "Losing your touch, Spymaster?" You revealed a row of bloody teeth to him, and grunted when the chains at your wrists stung the magic that weakly attempted to help you.  Azriel could have sighed. He could have laughed and bled you dry. Have a healer come and patch you up enough to keep you alive. The idea was tempting, but he didn't like having anyone besides his brothers see him in this mode of darkness. He could have brought Rhys down to attempt to break into your mind again. After the first attempt and Rhys' reaction to being blocked, he wasn't eager for that again. So he sighed, and brought out the potions laced with Faebane.  + He was convinced you weren't a normal Fae. After months of his best torture methods he was a wreck. "She just-" He tried to hide his frustration, but his brothers knew him best. Cassian smirked by the fire, warming his wings. Rhys seemed a bit more concerned, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Azriel had never been one to spend a long time on torture. Rhys saw the frustration flowing from him after every session with the stubborn Fae in the dungeon cell.  "I dont know what to do anymore. She's the only one to have never broken." He ran a hand though his hair. His shadows seemed weak, exhausted like him.  Rhys considered for a moment, looking between his two brothers. Cassian seemed to be enjoying Azriel's frustration. Maybe a bit too much. Rhys sipped his wine then, with a look of innocence, "Maybe we will have Cassian end it. Perhaps seeing the Lord of Death in front of her will knock something loose."  Cassian's stare whipped to him, a silent plea on his face. "We should leave it to our expert Rhys-" Azriel laughed, cold and bitter. "The expert hasn't got a damn thing out of her. We either kill her or send her back to Rask with all the information she's collected about us. With nothing in return." Shame lined his features. The sense of failure to his high lord was a heavy weight to bear. "Cas...I expect you down there tomorrow afternoon. It will be her last chance." Rhys' no nonsense tone shut down Cassian's retort. His jaw locked with distaste. He hated the cramped cells below the house of wind. Hated the way going underground made his wings feel like they needed to stretch. The worst was when that stale air was laced with the rotting smell of dead mice or old blood. It made his skin crawl just thinking about it.  "Come on Cas, dont you want to see the only one that's outlasted me?" Az asked with a mock grin. He couldn't give the same smile back. Turmoil spilled inside him at the thought of going so far below the mountain.  + Cassian took a long time to go to bed that night. His restlessness about the next day made him wake up over and over, never having more than an hour of peace before being waken up.  Azriel held up a mug of tea to him the next morning. "You look like shit." He handed his brother the mug with a small smile. Cassian glared at him, but took it anyway. He went to the balcony, his heavy wings needing to feel the fresh air. It was like taking a bath after being covered in grime. He sighed in relief, letting the late morning sun graze his body. The cold wind from Illyria was beginning to come in for the winter, and the familiar smell ignited something in him. He felt a draw, but shoved it to the back of his mind. He knew what he had to be this day. "Why the hell do we have to keep them so far down again?" Cassian complained. Around and around and around. Down deeper and deeper into the pit of the mountain that the house above was carved out of. Cassian felt like his lungs were collapsing the further they went. He tried not to let his nerves show, but he knew Az's shadows would pick up on it anyway.  "Remember when you broke your arm chasing down that Attor?" Azriel could have laughed at that memory, but the story surrounding it made the experience soured. More shame on top of the guilt already there.  Cassian hummed in approval, welcoming the distraction the memory brought. He tried not to focus on how each turn of the staircase got darker and darker. How the air seemed to compress around him. He locked his eyes on the scar on one of Az's wings. "And we spent a week fixing the top story of that apothecary?" He asked, keeping his voice steady.  "Yes. Dont you remember how the Attor got out?" Cassian shook his head, and Azriel huffed a laugh. "I left the door open for just a second to get a new knife and..." He shook his head, part in anger and regret, part in shame. "It had escaped before I turned around. I dont know how it happened, to this day."  Cassian stared at the back of the shadowmaster's head. The dark ripples around him seemed to spike. "It happens Az, you can't be perfect."  "It's not perfection, its basic thought. After that we moved all enemies to the lower dungeons. No matter the threat. Rhys even put wards on the arches." He ran a hand over the walls, his fingers catching a few of the grooves that linked each spelled archway to the other.  Cassian left the conversation at that. At least his brother wasn't brooding as much as before. The dim lights began to come into view, and his heart began hammering. Adrenaline singing through his veins. His polished siphons glowed, reflecting red off the dark stone ceiling. He had polished all his black armor the night before, when he couldn't sleep. Something poked, prodded at him all night. Keeping him awake. He figured he may as well make use out of it.  "She's not going to talk to you unless you show..weakness first." Azriel said in a low voice. Cassian nodded, reaching the end of the stairwell with him.  Cassian couldn't see the dark figure in the cell, but he felt the presence nonetheless. The dark draw that you demanded. He wondered how Azriel had dealt with that pull this whole time. The tantalizing draw to you. He shook his head, pushed the hair out of his face and nodded to Azriel.  He opened the door, then began his ritual. At the start of every session he would toss a bucket of water over your body, then a bucket of salt. It made the wounds that handn't healed fully scream in pain. You jolted at the suddenness of it this time. "Good morning, shadowsinger." You ground out, voice rough with strain. Cassian watched in awe at his brother.  Cassian was never one for torture. There was a reason Azriel was appointed to this position. Watching the calm cruelness of him was jarring, but Cassian kept his face straight. He stood behind you, watching the flimsy attempts to pull at the shackles holding your arms up. Lacerations dotted each arm, some light pink scars. Some were still scabbing over. A chill ran down his spine.  "You have a guest today, would you like to see him?" Azriel's voice was cool, calm. Like he was speaking orders to a group of soldiers. He began slicing new lines into your arms, moving up to your neck. He had left your ears in tact, as a last resort if you refused to speak to Cassian. The pull Cassian felt was overwhelming. He walked a bit too quickly around you, plastered on a wicked smile for show, then crouched down. The smile faded when he finally saw your face. Your dripping hair was a horror on its own. Plastered to the skeletal cheekbones, and pale eyes. Those eyes were brighter than anything he'd ever seen. A field of flowers down the slope of Illyrian mountains. His world shifted, drawing the breath from him. "Mine." His mind seemed to roar with that alone, but in a thousand different variations. "Lover, friend, partner, mine mine mine. Mate. My mate." His lips quivered with the realization. With the way his heart soared, and the way he moved without realizing it. He choked a gasp, and fell forward on his knees before you. He saw the same astonishment in your reaction. Azriel dropped his sword, confusion and concern alert on his features. "Cas wh-" Before he could finish, before his shadows could detect that Cassian had even moved, his brother was on top of him. Cassian's knuckles stung with every punch. A new kind of rage flared inside him. It made his muscles yearn for violence. Made his teeth crave the flesh of those that so much as looked at you wrong. There was no mercy for Azriel, it was as if he was an enemy on the battlefield. Cassian held nothing back. You hung limply from the chains that bound you. Crunch after crunch sounded from Azriel. He eventually managed to push Cassian off of him. Then they locked together in battle again. Clashes of armor against armor were deafening. The snarls they ripped at each other were loud enough to make you cringe. Your heart squeezed at the sounds of Cassian's breath. At the scent of blood spilling. You pulled feebly at the chains, your mind roaring to protect him.  Your mate. You tried to watch the battle, but the weakness in your body refused to let you turn more than a few inches. They were panting, Cassian fighting with a ferocity Azriel had never seen. His eyes flared with rage, like he was possessed. "Cas-" Azriel grunted, shoving his brother backwards. His back hit yours, pushing you down and digging those stone cuffs into your wrists. You hissed in pain. Cassian roared and lunged at his brother again, and again.  The darkness that boomed outside the cell was jarring. The stone ceiling shuddered, small rocks and dirt falling from it. Cassian did not stop. He didn't hesitate, coming at Azriel with punch after punch. His fist crushed the wall behind where Az's head had been.
"Enough." The high lord's cool command was enough to make you still your weak attempts at looking at the two. Cassian's chest heaved as he tried lifting his arm to punch Az again. Pure fury in his heart was enough to make him disobey Rhysand's order.
Then Rhys' talons gripped him. Freezing his mind, stilling him. Rhys' face shifted to surprise at what he glimpsed at there. "Oh.." He breathed. Azriel panted, backing away from his brother, out of the cell. He locked the cell and wiped the blood from himself, his wings hanging limply behind him. "What- the hell." He panted, nursing his arm. Cassian's eyes locked to your small frame. How your muscles quivered, how your arms shook with the effort of holding yourself up. He felt Rhys' claws recede slowly from his mind, releasing each part of him one by one. He rushed to you.  He picked up Azriel's sword and with a clean, masterful swipe, broke the enchanted stone that bound you. The weak sigh that came from you was heartbreaking. His eyes pricked with tears, and he caught you before you could fall to the floor into the puddle of dried blood. He didnt notice, or care that it was there. He sat there with you, cradled you and shook with you.
"Cassian... She's.. Cassian's mate." Rhys said slowly, astonished. He didn't take his eyes from his brother in the cell. Azriel froze in place. For a moment, the dungeon was completely still. Totally silent, as if the world waited for what was to come next.
Azriel turned on a heel and left, trudging up the stairs. Rhys dared not touch his mind. "Cassian...." He spoke, trying to get his brother's attention. He did not glance at Rhys, just curled around your body more. Protecting, nesting almost. Rhys knew the feeling too well from the weeks after he and Feyre's bond snapped into place.  "We will check in tomorrow. Be safe, brother." Rhys spoke to Cassian's mind. It was nothing but an ocean of rushing thoughts. Cassian could have bared his teeth, could have tried to fight his brother through the bars of the cell. Hell, he could have probably broken through those bars with the primal strength flowing through him with the rush from the bond.
But he didn't. He stayed, his warm body pressed against yours. Those siphons glowing against your skin like a fire. He stroked your hair soothingly, his tears like rainfall on your body, through your bloodstained clothes. He didn't remember falling asleep there, but it was the most restful, peaceful night he'd ever had in his existence.

The Nanny - Tom Hiddleston x Curvy Reader
“Papa!” India ran towards her father, Chris Hemsworth.
Hemsworth picked her up, looking around for whoever had the other two. When he spotted you, he waved and laughed seeing both boys clung to you. You had one on each hip. A big perk of being curvy is that it makes it a lot easier to tote the little ones around.
It was rare that him and his wife, Elsa, both had projects going on at the same time, but when it did happen, they had a close friend nanny the children near one of the projects. With the twins being a year old and able to be away from their mother for a short time, Elsa reluctantly took a month-long job where she would be doing quite a lot of traveling. Chris put her worries at ease and told her she had put her own career on hold quite a lot for their family. You had met the couple back when you nannied for their manager. When they had India, you helped them navigate having a child while working in Hollywood. When the twins arrived, you once again moved in with the family and helped smooth the hectic schedule involved in being a parent to three kiddos while working in such a high-demand and publicized job.
“India, I told you to wait for me” you gently scolded the young girl.
“…but I saw papa n unca Tom” she replied, hiding her face in her father’s neck.
“India, you know you need to listen to Y/n. She just wants you to be safe” Hemsworth said, rubbing her back with his hand.
“…m sorry” she said, peeking her face out and smiling at you.
“Thank you” you replied.
“You look like you’ve got your hands full” Tom said, a soft smile on his face as he looked at the two boys sitting on your hips. “I think we’re done for the day” he added, gaining the attention of Tristan, one of the twin boys.
Tristan reached out a hand, making grabby gestures towards Tom. “Looks like you’re about to have your hands full” you quipped, safely passing the 1 year old to Tom who happily took him into his arms.
“Hey, buddy” Tom said, smiling as the young boy gently played with the wig he was wearing. Tom was great with everyone’s kids. It kind of made you wonder why he hadn’t had any of his own.
Hemsworth spoke to India, bouncing her up and down. “Papa and uncle Tom need to go get out of our costumes and then we can all go home and eat. Does that sound okay?” Chris was talking to India, but he looked at you and Tom as well just wanting to confirm that this plan worked for everyone and making sure Tom knew he was welcome to join.
“Sounds wonderful” Tom replied.
“India, why don’t we go get dinner started for everybody. I could use some help.” You knew that India LOVED to help cook.
“Your papa takes a lot longer than me to get ready…” Tom teased, making Hemsworth laugh. “So why don’t you let me walk you back to the car with Y/n so he can get a head start?”
India started squirming, wanting her dad to put her down. “Make sure you hold uncle Tom’s hand the whole way.”
When you got back to the car, you put Sasha in the first child safety seat and turned to grab Tristan from Tom. “Thank you for walking them back with me”, you smiled up at your always generous friend.
“No need to thank me” he said, passing off the second boy. “You’re incredible with them, but I know it has to be a lot of work.”
Strapping Tristan into the second child safety seat, you replied. “You’re a natural with kids, Tom. You’re going to make a wonderful dad someday.”
Slightly blushing, he replied. “Well, I’ll take that as the highest compliment coming from you.”
Tom’s sincerity kind of stopped you in your tracks for a second. “I’ll take that as a compliment as well”, you failed at hiding the grin he’d put on your face. “India, say bye bye to uncle Tom. He needs to go get ready so him and papa can come home.”
The girl gave Tom a hug before reaching for you. “I’ll see you guys soon” Tom said, waiting to leave until you got the third child strapped in so he could open your door for you.
“Always a gentleman” you smiled at Tom who was still in full Loki garb.
As you climbed into the car, Tom said “A woman such as yourself deserves to be served by the gods.”
You felt your cheeks warm as you thanked him again. “Remind Chris that he promised he’d bring home ice cream for India.”
When you got to the house where you, the kids, and Chris were staying during filming you pulled into the garage and unloaded the kids. The two boys were in their safe gated area in the living room so they could play, and India was sat on the counter helping you tear apart lettuce for the salad.
“Good job, sweetie.” You said, finishing up the grilled chicken and squash. “Can you go wash your hands for dinner while I get the boys set up in their high-chairs?” you asked, setting India on the ground. “Make sure you use the bathroom downstairs. No stairs without an adult!” you called out. You continued making the salad at the counter
“Dinner smells wonderful” you heard, feeling a hand on your shoulder. You were startled, not knowing the guys had arrived home.
“Shit!” you yipped, turning and almost dropping the bowl in your hands.
Tom grabbed the bowl, trying to hold back laughter. “I’m so sorry” he laughed out, setting the bowl on the counter and wrapping his arms around you.
“You made me say a bad word” you replied, laughing into Tom’s chest. You wrapped your arms around him and leaned back against the counter for stability. Looking up at him you added, “No swearing in front of the children”.
“Well, I’m not the one that said it, darling” a smirk present on his otherwise serious face.
“You’re supposed to leave the mischief at work” you laughed, dropping your arms from around him and turning to finish the salad.
“What fun would that be?” he said quietly into your ear as he reached around you and snagged a vegetable out of the salad.
When you turned around, he was stepping over the child gate to grab one of the twins and get them set up at the table. You shook your head as if you could shake away the very inappropriate thoughts you were having about your friend.
You could hear Hemsworth laughing in the other room, India giggling along with him. “Well, are you going to tell me the secret?” he said. “No one else can know?” he questioned. India must have been trying to tell him something. “Well, they can’t hear you, just whisper it to me.” It got quiet for a moment. “Ah, I see. I’ll have to pay attention and see for myself.”
“Are you telling secrets?” Tom asked after grabbing the second twin and setting them up at the table.
“Mmhmm” you heard her say as you brought the platters full of food to the table.
“Do I get to know?” you asked, turning to grab the twin’s bowls since they weren’t eating adult food yet.
“Maybe” she answered before telling her dad she could get in her own chair. She was quite proud that she wasn’t in a high-chair anymore and she wanted to seat herself.
“Do you need help with anything else, darling?” Tom asked, following you back into the kitchen.
“Help me grab the cups of water?” you answered, handing him two full cups before grabbing your own and a small juice cup for India.
“Dinner was delicious” Hemsworth said, leaning back in his chair with his hands over his stomach.
“It truly was” Tom added, standing to gather the dishes.
“I’m glad” you replied, gathering the dishes Tom hadn’t grabbed. “You don’t have to clear the table.” You said, reaching for the last dish.
“Nonsense” he replied, grabbing your hand before you could grab the last dish. “You worked hard preparing this wonderful meal. The least I can do is help clean up.”
He wouldn’t let go of your hand until you conceded. “If you must” you said with a smile. “Thank you.”
You saw India crawl into her dad’s lap and whisper something to him. “I see” he answered, looking between you and Tom.
You shot him a look, letting him know you were suspicious of whatever they were talking about. Hemsworth shrugged, acting innocent.
After dishes were done and leftovers were put away, Chris put the twins to bed. You could hear him singing along with the giggles of the twin boys. “India, do you want to take a bath before bed or in the morning?”
“Tomorrow” she answered, crawling up the stairs to her room with you right on her heels.
“Tom, there’s a bottle of red wine already out on the counter if you want to grab a few glasses. I’ll be back down in a few.” You called down the stairs.
When you finished getting India dressed in her jammies and got a movie playing in her room, you headed back down the stairs. You could hear the guys talking in living room, but you couldn’t really make out what they were talking about. “You make it sound a lot easier than it is” you heard Tom say before you made it to the bottom of the stairs.
“All good?” Hemsworth asked, getting up to go say goodnight to his daughter.
“As per usual, she’s a dream. She’s watching Big Hero 6.” You answered, walking into the living room.
“Come sit” Tom said, holding out a glass of wine for you.
You grabbed the glass and sat in the spot next to Tom. “Thank you for pouring the wine” you said, taking a sip and sighing, laying back against the soft couch.
“Long day?” Tom asked.
“Not nearly as long as yours. I can’t imagine going non-stop all day like you guys do.” You answered, turning your head to face Tom as you took another sip of wine.
“Ridiculous” he said, tapping his glass against yours. “You take care of three tiny human beings that have all of the energy and attitude of their father”, he laughed. “I’d argue that your job is harder.”
“They’re great kids. The only reason this week has been a bit tiring is because the twins are teething. Sasha seems to be getting it worse, though” you explained.
“Poor thing” Tom said.
“I know. He’s been clung to my side all week. I’m surprised Chris got him to sleep, actually. He’s been fussy at bedtime and usually ends up passing out in my arms.” You felt Tom’s arm slip from the back of the couch to your shoulders.
“Well, enjoy the break” he said, pulling you to lean into his side a bit. “Though I can’t blame him for wanting to sleep in your arms.”
You looked up at Tom. “You’ve been awfully complimentary today.”
“I’m just saying, you’ve got a wonderfully voluptuous figure, darling.” He cleared his throat. “I imagine anyone that gets to fall asleep in your embrace is going to sleep well.”
“Well, if I thought you were interested, I might just tell you to find out for yourself.” You could hear Hemsworth coming down the stairs.
“Tom, I got the spare room all set up for you so we can ride into work tomorrow. No point in going to your place since we both have to be in the make-up trailer at 7 tomorrow anyways.” Chris said, laying out on the couch across from the two of you after grabbing his wine glass. “Y/n, I checked Sasha. He’s still asleep.”
“I’m glad. Hopefully his teeth aren’t hurting him as much.” You answered.
Chris looked at how you and Tom were sat and made eye contact with Tom, raising his eyebrows and looking between the two of you. “Anything you two want to tell me?” He asked, grinning like a little kid.
“Whatever do you mean?” Tom smirked, drinking the last of his wine. “Would you like more wine, Y/n?”
“Yes, actually. Thank you.” You sipped the last of your wine, handing the glass to Tom. When he got up, you watched him walk away with a smile on your face.
When he was out of earshot, Hemsworth imitated him. “Oh, whatever do you mean?” He laughed, looking at you and waiting for some sort of response.
“I have no idea what’s gotten into him” you shrugged, unable to keep the smile from your face.
“I’d wager a bet that I know what’s gotten into him.” He looked you up and down, sipping his wine, as if to say ‘duh!’ You’d become practically family to Chris and Elsa, and unbeknownst to you they’ve always thought you and Tom would make a great pair.
“Then why now?” you asked.
Chris shrugged. “India’s big secret earlier was that she thinks uncle Tom over there thinks you’re pretty because he looks at you like I look at her mom.”
Your face softened, thinking that was the cutest damn thing you’d ever heard. “Your daughter is officially my favorite of your children. You aren’t allowed to tell the boys. Or their mother.”
Chris laughed. “But seriously…give it a chance. Trust that I know something you don’t.” He was trying to help without breaking Tom’s confidence.
You could hear Tom walking back. You whispered, “I didn’t know I had a chance!”
“Here you go, darling.” Tom sat back down, opening his arms so you could resume your earlier position.
“Thank you” you answered, snuggling further into Tom.
The conversation went back to normal after Tom came back. The guys talked a bit about what they would be filming tomorrow, and they answered questions as you had them. Chris talked about the fact that Elsa would be coming to visit for a few days since Tom and him had two days off from filming after tomorrow.
“Y/n, Elsa will be here for 2 nights, 3 days and she wanted to make sure you knew that you didn’t need to work that whole time. You’re obviously more than welcome stay with us and keep your schedule, but she wanted you to know you could make plans.” Chris explained, knowing that you usually stayed and helped even when one of the parents was going to be around full time for a while.
“I don’t think I have any plans to make, but I’ll keep it in mind” you answered.
As the night wound down, you could feel yourself drifting off while cuddled up next to Tom. “I think I’m going to call it a night.”
“It is getting quite late” Tom responded, his hand running up and down your arm.
“Thank you two for a nice kid free night” you laughed, pulling yourself from Tom’s embrace to stand up.
Tom watched as you slightly adjusted your clothes, his eyes gazing over your body as you stretched. “The thanks should go to you, love.” He stood, grabbing the three wine glasses so that they could be rinsed in the kitchen.
“You have to stop giving me all the credit” you replied, grabbing the glasses from Tom. You leaned up and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek before taking the glasses to the kitchen.
When you were far enough away, Chris started teasing Tom. “Oh, whatever do you mean?” he repeated from earlier.
Tom threw a pillow at him, leaving the living room to find you in the kitchen. “I don’t want to startle you again” he spoke before he entered the kitchen, peeking around the corner with his hands raised.
“I didn’t even know you guys were home earlier” you laughed. Your hands were in a sink full of water, rinsing the wine glasses.
“I just wanted to come and say goodnight.” Tom walked up behind you, placing his hands gently on your hips and kissing your cheek from over your shoulder. “I hope you get some well-deserved rest.”
“You too” you answered, but he was already walking away when you turned to look at him.
When you got in your room, you felt like you were floating. Today felt crazy. Sure, you and Tom had been fast friends from the start. You’d certainly grown close, but today felt like something entirely different.
“Chris said to trust him.” You stripped out of your clothes and took the time to decompress in the shower. You towel dried your hair, threw on a pair of short spandex shorts and a baggy t shirt, and crawled into bed.
You were woken up by the baby monitor in your room. “Oh, Sasha.” You crawled out of bed and quietly made your way down the hallway. “Come here, sweetheart.” You picked Sasha up and he threw his arms around your neck. You walked back and forth, bouncing him in your arms.
“Is everything alright?” You heard Tom quietly ask from the doorway.
“I’m so sorry if he woke you” you said, feeling bad that they had a full day of shooting tomorrow.
“Don’t be” he replied, walking into the room and rubbing Sasha’s back comfortingly. “I take it his teething woke him up?”
“Must have.” You answered. “I’ll get him back to sleep if I take him to my room.” You turned to check on Tristan and he was standing up in his crib with tears running down his face.
“I’ll grab him” Tom said, moving to pick the boy up out of his crib and holding him to his chest. “What do you normally do when they both wake up?”
You couldn’t help but smile at how cute Tom was in his pajamas and glasses. “I’d take them back to my room with me. They usually fall asleep pretty quickly after that.”
“Would you like some company?” Tom asked, kind of in awe of how easily you handled the craziness of taking care of three very young children.
“I’d love some” you answered, turning and walking to your bedroom. Holding Sasha to your chest with one arm, you pulled back the blanket and crawled into your bed. You were sat up, just a bit, with the already half-asleep boy draped across your front with his head snuggled into your chest.
Tom followed suit with Tristan draped across his much leaner figure. “Come here” he said, lifting his arm so you could tuck the two of you against Tom’s side.
“I hope you aren’t too tired tomorrow” you said, feeling yourself already drifting off to sleep.
“Don’t worry about it, darling. Get some sleep.” Tom pressed a kiss to the top of your head before dozing off, himself.
You woke up to Hemsworth trying to wake Tom with the biggest grin on his face. “Brother, we need to leave in a half hour.”
Both boys were still passed out on top of the two of you. You rolled out of bed, still holding Sasha. “Let me go put Sasha in his crib and I’ll be back for Tristan.” You walked to the boy’s room and laid him down in his crib. Before you could even turn towards the door, Tom walked through with Tristan. “Good morning” you whispered.
Tom set the boy down in his crib and gestured that the two of you leave so you wouldn’t wake them back up. “Good morning, beautiful.” Tom gently closed the boy’s door and pulled you to him in a long, lazy hug.
“You’re not allowed to be charming this early in the morning.” You laughed against his chest.
“Nonsense” he said, letting his hands slowly slide to rest on your ass. “If I’m not allowed to be charming then you’re not allowed to be irresistible.”
“That road goes two ways” you said, sliding your hands under the back of his shirt and grinning up at him.
“Oh, does it?” Tom replied, dipping down to kiss your cheek before whispering “I think you should stay at mine while Elsa is here.”
“Tom!” Hemsworth whisper-yelled down the hall. “Get your hands off my nanny’s ass and get ready for work.”
You both tried to quiet your laughter as not to wake the boys back up.
“Consider it?” Tom said, releasing you and walking towards Chris to get changed and on their way.
You quickly walked to your room to brush your teeth and wash your face. You threw on a more modest pair of shorts and quickly put your bra on so you could go make the guys some coffee for the road.
Once in the kitchen, you brewed some coffee and got two travel mugs ready. You grabbed a piece of fruit and a protein bar for each of them before Tom walked in. “I hope you got enough rest”
“Actually, I feel incredible.” He said, eyeing the coffee and breakfast you’d set up for him and Chris. “I don’t think it has anything to do with rest, though, if I’m being entirely honest.”
“It must be something in the air” you blushed, ducking your head.
Tom took a step towards you. “At this point, I don’t think I could spend all day trying to pay attention to my lines and cues and such if I’m preoccupied with wondering whether or not I’ve made my feelings clear.”
You looked up at Tom, realizing this is the first time you’ve ever seen him look nervous. “Was your invitation serious?” you asked, filling the gap between you and sliding your arms around his neck.
“Very” he answered, holding you tight against him.
“Then, yes” you answered, going onto your tippy toes and pressing your lips together in a slow, gentle kiss.
“Brilliant” he breathed out, dipping back down to connect your lips once again.

The bus rumbled underneath Damiano as he turned around in his bunk, the humming of the vehicle drowning out the clatter and chatter of his bandmates in the background. His head was pounding, but less because of the little alcohol he had consumed the night before and more because of the thoughts that had kept him up all night. This morning, he had made sure to be up before Y/n would come around for her wake up call, got ready and then all but crawled into the bunk on his bus for more sleep. They would play a gig in the evening, but for now he was thankful for the 6-hour drive to Oslo with nothing to do.
He could almost feel himself drifting off, body tired out and mind exhausted, but instead all that he saw when he closed his eyes were scenes from last night.
The room was filled with laughter. Music and Vic’s singing, as Damiano let himself fall onto the bed next to Y/n. She looked gorgeous, hair down, relaxing, a champagne flute in her hand and a slight smile on her face. Even though he knew she’d be worrying about what Thomas was doing to the room and how she was going to get them out of bed the next morning. But mostly she was just gorgeous and he told her so.
His hand reached out before the contemplation of this action had been finished in his brain. The adrenaline from the first show of the tour had him flying, soaring, and there was nothing that could possibly bring him down. Her eyes showed surprise but she didn’t pull away as he put a strand of her hand behind her ear. The gesture was small but Damiano felt like he was on fire, briefly stroking the soft skin under his fingers before pulling back.
He found himself babbling about his hair, but he was much more interested in what she had to say. He wished she would talk about herself more often - so much of his personality was so out there, so much information about himself was literally out there, in magazines and interviews and photos, but she had her walls up, even when they were joking, even when she seemed to be talking freely.
“You’re getting more interesting with every second I’m around you, you know?” The words slipped out of his mouth so easily. She went over it just as easily. Did she not care? Did she not find him interesting? He had hoped for some sort of reply or reaction, but she just continued talking. Maybe she wasn’t interested in him… His brain only allowed the thought for a minute. No, he told himself, she simply was this way. Cool, calm, collected. He was sure he would be able to get her out of her shell further one of these days. He wasn’t going to stop trying.
Next thing he knew, she had thrust her phone into his hand, some picture of her from years ago. He didn’t care much about the outfit or the makeup or the questionable hair, it was her smile that drew him in. There was something carefree about it, something unabashedly confident, something she seemed to have lost since then. There was no way back for him he realised in that moment - it might as well have been this woman or no other ever again.
Next thing he knew, he was complimenting her again, calling her darling, but this time he didn’t have to wait long for a reaction. The drink that had been in her mouth just a second ago was now spluttered on her clothes and some of the bedding. He was about to ask her if she was alright, but she had jumped up from the bed, hands trying to hide her reddening face, and dashed to the bathroom.
Fuck, what happened?
“Damiano! What did you do to the poor girl!” Vic shouted in amusement from across the room. He simply waved it off. He wasn’t actually sure what he had done and it bothered him more than he would like to admit - especially in front of his bandmates. Maybe he had come on too strong, tried too hard, had made it awkward. His plan had been to pay her compliments - not scare her away with them. He would have to reconsider his course of action.
When she came back, it was only to say a quick goodnight, waving and leaving. She only spared him a brief glance, no smile or any reassurance that they were fine.
It had not stopped going through his mind. This morning, she had pretended like nothing had happened, but he knew she had been avoiding his gaze and her smiles didn’t seem quite as genuine as they did before. Damiano let out a low groan into his pillow. This was a mess and a half.
The curtain of his bunk was drawn back harshly, revealing Ethan’s face.
“Why would you scare me like that!” Damiano complained. “I could be jacking off in here!”
“Well, I want to assume you wouldn’t do that in a semi-public space such as this,” Ethan replied with contemplation on his face.
“What do you want anyway?”
“Victoria sent me and told me to tell you, I quote,” Ethan cleared his throat. “‘Stop moping, Damiano, it’s no fun'. So, there you go.”
Without another word, Ethan turned back around, leaving the curtain open, and walked back into the kitchenette of the bus. Out of the corner of his eye, Damiano could see him stealing a bit of fruit from the fruit bowl. He felt no motivation to join them.
***
“He alright?” Y/n whispered to Thomas, who was sitting close to her, guitar on his lap. He just shrugged. Ethan rejoined the group with an unreadable expression on his face, sitting down next to Victoria. Y/n shot him another concerned look, but he simply shrugged as well. She shook her head and got up from her spot, walking over to the counter to make breakfast for everyone. Getting out the waffle maker. Putting the Moka pot on the stove and filling it with water. Too early in the morning for rock and roll. In the background, she could hear the band discussing rehearsals and the show in Oslo.
As soon as the smell of food hit the three bandmates, they were all over Y/n, hovering around the little kitchenette, pushing and shoving each other to be first. Y/n looked at all of them in turn. Thomas was currently standing on the couch, raising his hand to smack an unsuspecting Vic who was looking the other way. A single raised brow from Y/n got him back down onto the ground.
“Hey! I’m older, I go first!” Victoria pushed Thomas back.
“Maybe, but it still took your mum nine months to think of a good joke,” Thomas retorted.
Ethan turned around, chuckling at his friends’ banter - but Y/n’s reaction was far more blatant. She started to laugh, a loud, almost cackle that the band had never heard before. Her smile easily reached her eyes and she gave a little applause at Thomas’ joke. “I- I;” she gasped in between laughs, “I know it’s not that funny but it just got me, sorry!” Finally managing to bite her tongue, she went back to serving breakfast.
Out of the corner of her eye, Y/n saw Damiano leaning so far out of his bunk to find out where the sounds and the laughter were coming from. The driver though couldn’t have known it was a bad moment to go over a pothole. With a loud thud, Damiano crashed out from his bunk and onto the hard floor. Chili, excited at the prospect of being able to reach him, ran over to lick his face.
“Eh! Chili, hi. Vic! Come get your dog!” He groaned, picking up the golden fluff and sending it back to her owner. She trotted away happily, over towards Victoria, who was a giggling mess after seeing her friend’s fall. He rolled his eyes at her grin.
“You gonna come join us, sleepy boy? I made coffee,” Y/n said, still trying to keep the peace between everyone. Pouring coffee into a mug, she walked over to Damiano and bent down, handing him the beverage. “I don’t really care if you want to spend the entire day on the floor, but I think your fans might tonight. So come join the party, hm?” Her voice was soft and enticing. Damiano’s eyes sparkled at her invitation. But still, his face was burning red. He sighed and nodded.
Y/n stepped back, taking the cup after he had taken a long sip, and reached her hand out to him. With a swift movement, Damiano was back up on his feet, immediately losing his balance and crashing into Y/n’s shoulder. More blushing on his part. He had not been expecting this amount of strength from her. Not caring about his little bump into her, she dusted him off, picking some fuzz out of his hair, her hand so close to his face, yet so far. She handed him the coffee once again and gave him a smile, before going back to her little corner on the bus as everyone devoured their breakfast.
Damiano watched as she tidied up after everyone had finished, constantly making sure what was effectively their home during tour would stay homely. She always looked like she belonged, and he admired her for that. After one last wipe down of the counter, she quickly addressed everyone on the bus, asking if she was needed for anything else right now, and after a round of head-shaking from everyone, she grabbed her laptop and retired to a quiet corner on the bus. It was only when she briefly looked up to find his eyes and gave a slight smile that he realised he was still watching her every move. Embarrassing, he scolded himself.
Damiano started fumbling for his bag, grabbing a notebook and a pen. He had too many thoughts running around in his head, too many images and ideas about Y/n, and he felt like the only way to get rid of them was to write. Maybe he’d even be able to make something out of it. Anything would be better than staring and dreaming about her anyway.
***
Two more hours until Oslo. With a heavy sigh, Y/n pushed the laptop away from her, neck cracking as she finally moved her bones a little. Suddenly, a pair of hands came down onto her shoulders. She only flinched for a moment before she realised it was Damiano, slowly starting to massage her tense flesh. Her head fell forward and she waved her hand to have him keep going. His fingertips digging into hours of uni work, work work, other work. Tension all living in her neck being slowly worked away by the singer.
"I'm not gonna turn down a free massage," she chuckled, feeling his talented fingers remove knot after knot. Then, suddenly, they became softer. She could hear Thomas in the background shouting something at Damiano. Taking his attention away from her, and all it left was soft fingertips on the sensitive skin on her neck. Dancing along and leaving goosebumps in their wake without him even knowing what he was doing to her. She shivered under such a light touch. A groan left her lips as she was falling deeper under his spell. At this point, she didn’t care. A very pretty man was smoothing his hands over her neck and shoulders and it was nothing short of lovely. Normally this wouldn’t be on Y/n's top list of things she would allow - but a 6-hour bus ride and sitting in one place for most of it was a killer.
I could fall asleep like this - fuck…
She was snapped back to reality when she realised that Damiano was once again staring at her screen, asking what she was working on, hands never moving from their position. She wasn’t sure how she was supposed to concentrate like this.
“Oh, I’ve, um,” she awkwardly fumbled with the laptop, “I’ve been trying to memorise this sonnet. I’m doing a course on Shakespeare this semester and we’ve been told to pick our favourite by him and I think I finally decided on mine. It’s Sonnet 128 - um. One of the only sonnets to give you an actual scene in place. It’s from the perspective of this guy watching a bard and just craving to be touched, used, kissed by this person. To have the same sort of attentive mastery be directed at him instead of the player’s instrument. Describing the person listening to this bard play… Wait, would you just like me to read it to you?” Y/n looked up at Damiano. He nodded as he slid into the seat beside her. She moved the laptop so she could see its screen still and began to speak.
***
Sitting next to her wasn’t as bad as Damiano thought. After working on her neck and shoulders, her perfume had rubbed off onto his skin. Light and warm, not super floral, but he didn’t peg Y/n to be a flower kind of woman anyway. Looking at her face now, he noticed things he hadn’t seen before. Faint freckles, little lines around her eyes, the pink tint on her lips. Her hair was done up again in a bun. He could see a couple of bobby pins trying to hide in her wild hair. Then she started to recite the piece and his chest was exploding. He felt as if he was watching winter melt away and spring come.
“How oft, when thou, my music, music play’st”
Oh, what he would do to be her muse, Damiano thought. Her voice, low and soft, was like music itself to him, never mind the way her eyes lit up at the words she repeated from the screen. A little light inside of her, one he hadn’t encountered before.
“Upon that blessed wood whose motion sounds With thy sweet fingers, when thou gently sway’st”
Her fingers were just as sweet, his mind piped up as he tried to listen to her more closely. Some light polish on her nails that he hadn’t noticed before, but now that she was scrolling through the laptop, it was like he couldn’t keep his eyes off them. Quickly exploring images of them tangled in his hair, scratching down his back ever so slightly. Stop, he told in his own head in vain. Just stop and listen, for once. Yet the ideas of her he had hidden away kept demanding attention.
“The wiry concord that mine ear confounds,
Do I envy those jacks that nimble leap
To kiss the tender inward of thy hand,”
He tried so hard to concentrate. To listen, to take in the words she was reciting, to grasp their meaning and what they meant to her, but it was hard, getting harder. In an uncalculated move on his part, his arm swung around her shoulders, not pulling her closer, just letting her know he was there, right now, right here, with her. His hand resting on her upper arms, feeling the warmth underneath the fabric of her blouse.
“Whilst my poor lips, which should that harvest reap,
At the wood’s boldness by thee blushing stand!”
His eyes travelled up from her fingers, over her soft and curvy figure, her delicate neck, to her blushing face. She was blushing an awful lot with him and he had not yet figured out completely if this was a good sign or not. Either way, he thought she looked adorable, a natural pink on her cheeks. Slightly restless eye movements that didn’t match up to the words she was reading, a certain nervousness overtaking her. He wanted to make her blush like that for the rest of his life if he could. He silently wondered if she would blush that much if… if it was just the two of them, alone in some random hotel room, a whole world of exploration before them.
“To be so tickled, they would change their state
And situation with those dancing chips,
O’er whom thy fingers walk with gentle gait,
Making dead wood more blest than living lips.”
His eyes betrayed him, flicking down to her lips as soon as she said the word. Soft, a light tint on them, pronouncing every syllable in the most mindful way. He wondered if she would let him kiss her. What. His brain flickered between two emotions. Yes, yes, yes. He would give everything to feel her sweet mouth on his, getting her close, inhaling her scent, pouring his every thought into a kiss. No. What was he thinking? She was their assistant. Strong, gorgeous, fiercely independent, and surely not interested. Right? He couldn’t help wondering. Would she let him kiss her? Would she want him to? Had she thought about it, the way he was right now?
“Since saucy jacks so happy are in this,
Give them thy fingers, me thy lips to kiss.”
Their eyes met and Damiano hadn’t even noticed how much closer he had edged towards her. It would only take a little bit, one more breather, a tiny motion, to put his lips on her, to feel what she was feeling, and the way she looked at him had him craving, obsessing and he almost dared himself to do it, when a voice pulled him out of his thoughts, pulled him away from her.
“Y/N! I don’t understand how the waffle maker works!”
Damiano had never wanted to kill his bandmate more than at that moment. With a groan he turned around, seeing Thomas fumble with the appliances in their little kitchen area, a dumbstruck look on his face, and puppy dog eyes pleading Y/n for help. She only gave a low chuckle, before getting up and walking over to the guitarist, leaving Damiano with a head full of thoughts that all circled around her.
***
That was close, Jesus Christ! My face is so warm… how are his eyes that pretty? How have I never noticed that before? I wonder if he was thinking about the same thing as I was back there…
***
The crowd was roaring out by the main stage. Crew held their places waiting for the queue to go. The band stood off stage trying to sneak a peek at the audience. Hundreds more people than they were expecting. Y/n sat in a metal chair that was dubbed ‘her chair’ so she could watch the performance from behind the main curtain to cheer the band on without being seen. The lights in the main room were being lowered, the playlist that had been on in the background slowly being turned off, as the noise of the audience got impossibly louder. The band was getting nervous now, the good kind of nervous. Thomas jumping around to get his energy levels up before they would get the sign to get on stage. Y/n smiled at them in turn, returning a little wave Ethan was giving her. Just as they were given the go-ahead, and all of them started to jog on stage, Damiano took a little detour, sending her a smile that would set all the butterflies free in her stomach, before pressing a little kiss to her forehead. He was gone before she had a chance to react. Yet, she froze. Damiano looked back and it was the most perplexed, confused, and adorable expression he had ever seen on her.
It was an expression Damiano couldn’t get out of his head for the rest of the concert, even long after she had lost it - and he knew she had because he couldn’t keep himself from looking over at her every now and again. He was fascinated by the way she watched them.
And if she was watching? Well, then he was going to put on a show.
He pulled all the tricks he knew - well those that were fitted to the situation and venue. During one of their songs, he decided to pull his favourite one. With a low grunt, he ripped his shirt apart, throwing it across the stage, unable to wipe the smile off his face. Until he looked over to where his top had landed and his eyes fell onto Y/n, standing beside the stage, now with a performance-rich torn tank top on her face. Maybe his aim had been a little off. The look on her face as she removed the fabric made him laugh. At least she isn’t hiding now, he thought, before going back to the song.
During “You need me, I don’t need you”, one of the covers they had chosen for the night, he couldn’t fight the grin, knowing his favourite lyric of the night was coming up.
“Melody music maker, reading all the papers, they say I’m up and coming like I’m fucking in an elevator.”
Where Damiano would usually take the chance to suggestively hump the mic stand and focus on the audience, this time he did it while looking straight at Y/n. Her face clouded red, eyes looking at him with a flustered glare. He simply winked at her.
Similar things kept happening throughout the night, any song to do with sex or romance, any innuendo, it was all directed at her. To him, it was all about her all the time, and he made sure to let her know.
***
After one last encore, the band left the stage, the sound of the crowd chanting their names in the background. Once backstage, they all exchanged hugs, all pumped up from the adrenaline and the successful show. A massive gift basket sat in the corner, filled with beers, chocolates, some skincare products, and flowers, along with a note from the venue welcoming them to Oslo and thanking them for playing. Vic immediately grabbed Y/n.
“When we get back to the hotel - up for a girl’s night?” Wriggling her eyebrows at the assistant, she picked out some of the products from the red tulle in the basket.
“As if I could say no to you.”
***
“Okay, what’s first, face mask or red wine?” Victoria asked, holding up both items in her hands as she followed Y/n into the hotel room, Chili yapping at both of their feet, dying to get attention from anyone.
“I will pour the wine if you open the face mask stuff,” Y/n decided, picking up Chili for some snuggles, before putting the dog down on the bed and grabbing the wine glasses. “Don’t have a girls' night often, so this is nice.”
“I keep having them with the boys but it’s not really the same,” Vic laughed. “They never want me to pluck their eyebrows or anything! Oh, and please be careful with the wine around Chili, I drenched her once and it didn’t come out of her fur for ages.”
“You - you did what now? Wait, nope, I don’t wanna know. But to be honest, I would kill to get Ethan on my lap with some tweezers in my hand. Boy, does he need it. Not by much, sweet guy. Just, uh, you know?” Within a moment or two wine was being poured and handed to the blonde. “I didn’t know how much you would want but we can always add more,” Y/n stated, hopping onto the bed next to Vic.
“Oh, very sweet guy with unpredictable hair, really!” Vic said, grabbing the glass and downing more than half of it in one go already, before sitting down next to Y/n with the little pot she had opened and a little applicator for the cream. “That’s so fancy, I usually just slap it on my face with my fingers.”
“Same! Thinking we’re posh fucks, aren’t they?” Y/n grinned, looking at the tiny skincare items, another sip of wine. Chili curled up between the two women. “You looked like you had fun at the concert.”
“It’s so good to be back on the road and I feel like we’ve really found ourselves as a band now. We’ve only played two shows but it’s already my favourite tour. I’m convinced it’s because you’re here, too, by the way, you really fit in with us,” Victoria smiled at her, sipping from the glass, then putting it away on the nightstand and motioning for Y/n to do the same. “Come here, I’m gonna do your face.”
“Ah, I wouldn’t say that. You guys have been absolutely killing it. You got here by your own accomplishments and will, that’s hard to do. I am far more surprised at how well I’ve been able to fit in with you all. I’m, uh, as you can see,” putting the glass away, she scooted to face Victoria, “not as… ‘rock and roll’ and I would have assumed you’d want your assistant to be. But glad I got stuck with you though.”
“Oh, shush,” Vic said, sternly, as she began applying the cream to Y/n’s face. “You fit in just fine. Firstly, I think we definitely need someone to keep us grounded a bit sometimes and secondly, I am absolutely convinced there’s a lot more rock and roll in you than you think - you just wait until you’ve been exposed to us for longer, you’ll see!”
“Well, I agree with the grounded part. You realise that today during breakfast Thomas was climbing on the sofa about to smack your head just to get further in line? That boy does not stop.” She relaxed into Vic’s touch, silently deciding that girls' nights needed to be a more regular thing. This was great. “Ethan said something similar - something about ‘head banging right along with everyone else’. You all have it out for me don’t you?!” She asked, putting on an overly dramatic, surprised look.
“No, he didn’t!” She exclaimed, astounded. “I’m gonna get him back for that tomorrow. Anyway, Ethan was right, you won’t be able to resist our bad influence forever, Y/n! So, have you been to gigs before taking this job, or is this still something new to you?”
“I have been to gigs before, but they were more music festivals, and I was never one for EDM or anything. The heat and lots of glittery, sweaty people drunk on warm beer? No, thank you. Or they would get a new assistant for a tour and the job would end. Not in a bad way, it's just how it is as an assistant. You do your job until they don’t need you anymore.” She shrugged. “I don’t know if it’s the wine or you, but I don’t think I’ve talked this much about myself really since I started this job. Not this particular job, mind you, but the whole P.A. thing.” Y/n chuckled, pulling her hair back into a tighter ponytail to keep out of the way of the fancy skincare.
“Hm, now I just keep thinking of putting glitter on you and getting you in the middle of a good punk gig one of these days,” Vic giggled as she finished up Y/n’s facemask, motioning for her to return the favour. “Let’s make the most of this wine then, I’m going to pour you another glass and you tell me a bit more about yourself.”
Grabbing the little pot of face mask, Y/n gently held Vic’s face, slowly applying the cream. “I’m going to be an alcoholic by the end of the tour, aren’t I? Um, well, I had a boyfriend, he was a prick, we broke up. My best friend lives in London in our old flat. My favourite films are old Hollywood romances. ‘Singing in the rain’, stuff like that. I dunno really. I’m just Y/n. Though I was thinking we should find a way to line Damiano’s trousers so that if they - when they rip apart, you see the lining and not the man’s underwear. Not that I think he cares, actually.” She truly was unable to turn work off completely, even on a night off.
Victoria couldn’t contain the giggle, receiving a scolding look from Y/n, who almost put the cream in her hair by mistake. “Thinking about Damiano’s underwear a lot, huh? Can’t blame you, that man is as pretty as they come. You can be happy they’ve all not gotten to the point where they just hang out on the tour bus in just their boxer shorts, but believe me, that day will come sooner or later!”
“I have not!” She insisted as her face betrayed her, telling a completely different story. “That is unprofessional and objectifying. I hope it doesn’t happen at all. You saw my face before when you all decided to ‘put on a little show’ in the dressing room.” She took the glass from Vic to take a sip. “Anyway.” She started blending out the face mask with fingers, careful not to get it into Victoria’s hair. “Would there be anything you want to know? I am never good at talking about myself.”
Chili nuzzled into Victoria’s leg, getting more needy. “I don’t want to cross any boundaries here, but honestly - why do you work so hard? I’ve only known you for like three days but you never seem to relax, you’re always either busy working for us or working on your projects and when you have a minute to breathe you end up cleaning after us or just going above and beyond taking care of us. I’m not complaining,” she held her hands up, laughing. “It’s great, but it’s a lot, huh?”
“Um… I can’t lie. Not to you or the band. Lying isn’t good for you anyway. But.. I don’t know. Lots of stuff happened before I moved to Italy. Lots of not-so-good stuff. So, I had a lot of reserved pent-up energy, still do. So I had to find ways to put it into things. Now I put it into my work because it’s my new dream. I put it into the band because I care about you. I want to see this tour do well…” Y/n stopped for a moment, caught off guard by the question, looking back and forth between Victoria and her own reflection in the wine. “I want to prove to myself that I can achieve and be successful. I am also a giant workaholic, though, like it’s bad,” she giggled, as Chili now put a paw on Vic’s thigh, demanding attention.
“Well, if you gotta do that whole workaholic thing, I’m glad you’re doing it for us,” Vic smiled, placing a soft hand on Y/n’s arm. “Just make sure to make some time to let loose every now and again. I’m sure any of us would be happy to help you with that.” She turned on her phone to check the time. “I should probably get this mask off now, give me a second,” she explained before getting up and skipping to the bathroom sink.
“Yeah, that’d be good,” Y/n said, also taking note of the time. “Doesn’t Chili need to go out now? There’s no grass on the balcony or I’d let her do her business here.” She stood up, placing the wine glasses on a little counter, trying to force the cork back into the bottle. “Thank you for tonight though, we should make it a thing.”
“Yeah, I’ll take her out for her evening walk now.” Victoria came back, hair slightly damp from where she had washed her face too hastily. “But let’s definitely do this again, next to Ethan you’re like the most calming person on this tour to hang out with.” She moved to give her a hug, only to realise Y/n still had the mask on, so instead, she opted for an awkward shoulder rub and a giggle. “I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
“You do realise it is my job to follow you around and see you tomorrow? Like, that is what I am paid to do. But hell, I’d still do it if it wasn’t my job,” she smiled, nudging Vic’s shoulder. “Now go get Chili out and then get some sleep yeah? Important things like sleep, food, water, everything you people seem to keep forgetting about!”
“Well, that’s what we have you for now, don’t we?” Victoria laughed, picking up a whining Chili and already halfway out the door. “But you get some sleep too! No working through the night, I am ordering you to bed - as your boss!”
“Of course!” Y/n laughed, shutting the door behind the bassist. After taking off her mask, she put the rest of Vic’s leftover wine into her glass and went out onto the balcony with her laptop. Pulling out all the bobby pins and the hair tie, she ran her fingers through her hair, brushing out the knots and letting it hang loose. The light from the sunset had long been gone by the time they had gotten to the hotel. Only street lights and the blue screen were illuminating the space of the balcony. The outdoor space was large enough for a table and chairs. The street down below was faintly noisy as people and cars passed by, but not enough to disturb her peace and quiet.
***
So much for an early night, Damiano thought, staring at the screen of his phone, as Ethan slept soundly in the next bed. With a sigh, he kicked the blanket off his legs, grabbing a pack of cigarettes from the nightstand, and sneaking out onto the balcony without waking his bandmate. Maybe a smoke would help. His eyes drifted from the rather unspectacular view out front to where he noticed movement to his right, only to see Y/n on her own balcony, right next to his.
Y/n was relaxing in her chair, glass of wine in her hands, mouthing the words to something on the computer in front of her. Entirely focused on whatever she was working on, she didn’t notice Damiano’s door opening and closing. She took a drink of her wine, leaving a dark red stain on her lips, then stood up to face the street. Laptop on her arm and looking outward, she mumbled the words on the screen to herself. He just about managed to make out what she was saying.
“But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with brief- Wait, no. Grief. Okay.” She cleared her throat. “Who is already sick and pale with grief. Stupid tiny font is gonna be de death of me,” she mumbled, trying to zoom into the text.
Damiano watched her, a chuckle on his lips, both amused and amazed at seeing her play out the scene on her own. With a quick flick of his lighter, he turned to his cigarette, taking a drag, wide awake. The low light of the moon was illuminating her figure and her hazy movements and for a while he allowed himself to simply be fascinated by her. By the way she moved. Performing fully committed to the open air. Then she made a particularly dramatic, sweeping gesture in her monologue and he knew he couldn’t keep quiet any longer.
“Hey there, Juliet.”
The surprise went through her like an electric shock, she was stumbling over nothing, almost dropping the laptop from her arms, as she turned around towards him so fast, he was sure her hair was going to give her whiplash.
“Ah fuck - Damiano?!” She gasped delicately into the night. “You’re going to give me a heart attack one of these days!”
Hopefully, for very different reasons, he thought to himself.
“Sorry,” he sheepishly replied. “What are you doing? It’s almost 2 am.”
“You know I could very well ask you the same thing.” She looked at him accusingly. “If you didn’t have the day off tomorrow I’d be ordering you back to bed immediately.”
Damiano briefly considered a suggestive comment, but instead, let the cigarette between his lips keep him quiet. Y/n was putting her laptop away now, sinking back down into the lounge chair as he walked over to the edge of his own balcony, leaning over the railing to get a better look at her.
“You know I’ve not forgiven you for your antics at the concert tonight yet,” she suddenly stated, pulling him from his thoughts. The smirk flashed over his face naturally. He wondered if she was blushing again, but the little light the moon and her laptop screen gave off didn’t tell him anything. He was hoping she was.
“I promise I didn’t mean to hit your face with my top,” he laughed.
“But you obviously did mean everything else you did!” An accusing finger was pointed his way. “I did not appreciate that.”
For a second he flinched, wondering if he had gone too far, crossing a boundary. But then she looked back at him with a smile she was obviously trying to push away, unsuccessfully. Glass of wine in her hand, she sauntered over to him, while he put out his cigarette on the railing. She leant over her own railing, mirroring his movements. At a slow pace, like she knew he was watching, she sipped from her glass. His eyes falling to the way her neck was exposed as she threw her head back, tracing the soft skin with his glances until she set down the drink. There was a droplet of red wine on her lip and he wished their balconies were closer together, fantasising about reaching out and wiping it away, feeling just how soft she would be under his touch.
“Not that… I didn’t like it.” She paused. “Also not the first time I’ve been hit in the face with a shirt. So there’s that.” Y/n laughed.
“Now you’ve got me curious - who else would hit you with a shirt? Are you trying to tell me you’ve been to strip clubs?” Damiano laughed. Teasing her came easy to him.
“Dancers. With aim as terrible as yours, Mr. David. And I don’t know if you want the answer to the second question,” she smirked. When they were alone like this, she seemed more at ease. That, or it was the wine. He didn’t know.
“Dancers, huh? Think you could teach me a thing or two? Or, you know, were you just watching, lusting over sexy men?”
“Ah! I would do nothing of the sort. Most of the guys there weren’t into girls anyway. Wouldn’t do me much good… Damiano, I could teach a lot of things. You to dance? God help us all.” She made a dramatic cross across her body, laughter twinkling in her eyes.
“Now, Y/n, I’d let you teach me whatever you wanted,” he winked. “Preferably something… active, hm?” He could keep from laughing as he saw her unimpressed face, staring him down and shaking her head. He’d rile her up for the rest of his life if she gave him the chance.
“I once met this Italian guy, came to the studio. Thought he was God’s gift to dance. But you Italians all have that, bravado, confidence, whatever you wanna call it. Well, after learning the first intermediate step, he fell flat on his face and went back to beginner lessons. You gonna be like that?” Raising a brow at him, she leant further over the railing on her side.
Damiano puffed up his chest, comically, trying to make himself appear bigger in a useless attempt to impress her. “Now, you’ve obviously not met the right Italians yet, amore mio. Sounds to me like you need a real Italian to show you the way.”
Just like this morning, she burst out laughing, letting out cackles that filled the air with joy. “Sorry - not laughing at you. Just thought what you said was funny.” She looked down, and as dark as it was, he could see the same signs he had seen before. Shy expression, holding herself close to her body. The slight panic of not knowing what to say. “You’re real Italian, alright. You seem to always know what to say. Now is that an Italian thing or a Damiano thing?” She asked, sarcastically, to deflect the fact that her face was heating up.
Amore mio…that's what did it. He felt like he was unlocking a single puzzle piece at a time, slowly putting her together and making sense of her. He couldn’t wait to get the whole picture one of these days. “Maybe it’s a you thing,” he simply said. The night was making him strangely comfortable with being honest. “Maybe you just bring it out in me.”
“Eh - I’ve been told I bring out a lot of things, never a savant before.” She was still looking down, at her hands, starting to pick at her nail polish. Some little nervous tick that he hadn’t caught onto till now. “It’s late, you should go to sleep, Dami. I am sure that bed is missing its handsome owner right about now.” She started to look far away, picking up the wine glass and taking the last sip.
He had barely heard what she had said - too focused on her calling him Dami, for the very first time. It was like a little shudder running through him, knowing she was growing closer to him as the time passed. “Are you okay, though? I’m sure my bed will survive without me a little bit longer.”
“Oh, I’ll be fine. Don’t you worry about me, I worry enough as it is. Tomorrow is a day off, so I won’t be waking you up in the morning, bus call isn’t until later. Um, but I will be getting breakfast. Is there anything you would want?”
“As long as it involves coffee, I’m happy. I’m sure you’ll pick out the perfect thing anyway.” Damiano watched as she nodded, moving towards the balcony doors and away from him. He felt like grabbing her just to keep her there. He straightened up as well, just barely backing away from the railing. As she left he looked at the space she once occupied, feeling like he could almost make out the outline of her body where it once had been.
Amore mio...

soulmates! (2)
soulmate!au BECAUSE IM WEAK. YOU'RE WEAK TOO.
characters: ganyu, kaeya, thoma ➡ mentions: cloud retainer, ningguang, adelinde, diluc, crepus, rosaria, traveler warning(s): like- just one swear
part one: (bennett, zhongli, diluc)
ganyu: can see footprints where soulmate has recently stepped on. if followed, they will be lead to their soulmate. sort of like "hot and cold" cold if you're far and hot if you're close
she knew she is a very busy person. she surprises herself when she asked ningguang for a day off.
"you want a day off?" she remembers ningguang's composed face deteriorate and herself doing the same thing.
ningguang let her rest for two weeks even if ganyu had only requested one. now she has so much free time.
the first thing she did was sleep, but she couldn't- not when she spots purple footprints.
as part adeptus with one heck of a good eyesight, she always assumes that the footprints on the ground are because of her eyesight, but cloud retainer says otherwise.
"child, you have a soulmate system of which," the old bird starts. "where one has the ability see where one's soulmate has been, and if they've been there recently."
blue footprints that fade away means her soulmate had left a long time ago. red-ish-orange footprints mean that her soulmate is very close by, but it's never been that colour in her eyes.
ganyu strolls along the grassy plains of liyue, admiring all the sweet flowers. she lightly touches her horns, a habit she got from being awoken from naps on a field of sweet flowers.
the footprints were purple, which is the closest to red ganyu had ever gotten. blue is the colour she always sees like her vision, her hair, the waters of liyue, and the glazed lilies.
the purple is also as beautiful.
"fate will bring two together at the right moment. thou need not rush." ganyu can hear cloud retainer say, so she didn't run after the footprints.
the half-adepti thrums her fingers on her leg, unsure what to do with all the free time given to her. she supposes she can head back to liyue and have tea with madame ping.
meeting madame ping confuses ganyu. the elderly woman keeps asking of her soulmate system and if she's met them.
"ganyu, have you met them?"
"ganyu, why not chase after them?"
"ganyu, ganyu ganyu-"
ganyu politely sets her teacup down, "i have yet to find them."
madame ping chuckles in her elderly woman way, like those smug elderly women who know more than others but will act clueless to amuse them.
"you know, i have a special gift, some speculate it as a curse, but i think it's wonderful," she said, pouring more tea for ganyu. "i have the ability to see red strings that connect soulmates. i can connect, i can break connections, but i can't see my own."
ganyu frowns slightly, "have you met yours?"
"no, but it makes me happy seeing the strings connect with people," she blows on her tea to make it cooler and turns her head to avoid looking at ganyu.
"madame ping, why-"
"you," a person behind ganyu seethes.
meekly, ganyu turns around and finds someone glaring at her. "may i help you?"
"ganyu, right? why do you always walk so fucking fast. i can never catch up to you when i see your footprints, and you're always going from place to place. one moment you're in liyue, the next your in somewhere like fontaine or something. it's like you're spiderman."
ganyu's jaw goes slack, "you're my soulmate?" she looks at the ground, seeing red footprints of where her soulmate had just walked. she now understand why madame ping kept asking her about her soulmate, because madame ping knew her soulmate was going to meet her.
ganyu clears her thoat, standing up to offer her soulmate a seat, "would you like to join us for tea?"
her soulmate blinks, and looks at the tea set then back to ganyu, "sorry, i didn't mean to intrude your tea party. i'm [name]."
"hello, i'm madame ping," the woman speaks "and your soulmate is ganyu. have tea."
ganyu stifles a laugh and sits on a chair next to her soulmate. "i apologize for walking too fast."
kaeya: he hears what his soulmate sings
at first kaeya thought he was going crazy when he kept hearing music in his head.
"dad!" he cried, forcingly rubbing away the tears that fell down his cheeks. the kids near the winery had come over and played with him and diluc, and that was when the first notes started. it never bothered him. he brushed it off until it became a full sound of a voice and a song.
not understanding scared kaeya to death. he always knew something, but this is the first where he doesn't know. he felt like he was going insane with this voice in his head, singing in his head; a voice that wasn't his.
"dad!" he called out again more desperately. diluc held him by his side, worried for his brother.
"father!" dliuc called this time, "father, kaeya's feeling sick."
diluc brought in kaeya, rubbing his back in attempt to comfort him. he saw adelinde and waved to her.
adelinde gasped when she spotted the blue-haired boy sobbing. she dropped her feather duster on the shelf she was dusting and dropped herself next to kaeya, inspecting of there were any wounds on his skin.
"kaeya, dear. what's the matter?" she quietly tells diluc to get his father in the wine cellar and gently pushed kaeya to take a seat near the fireplace.
diluc silently obeyed and ran, unlocking the door that led to his father.
kaeya hiccupped, unable to form words.
adelinde hushed him. her motherly fingers soothed his head, "what's wrong? breathe with me, dear. just until your father gets back."
she inhaled and exhaled in a steady manner for kaeya to follow. the boy shakily did the same. he did it a few more times, inhaling and exhaling slowly with adelinde. he calmed down. the crying stopped and his breathing was normal again. adelinde took this as another chance to ask him what's wrong.
"are you ready to tell me?"
kaeya blinked the tears off and gripped his clothes to stop himself from crying again. "it's happening again. i- i don't understand miss adelinde."
adelinde placed a hand over kaeya's for him to know she was listening. "what don't you understand?"
"i keep hearing things. i always hear a voice that isn't mine in my head-" kaeya sputtered.
diluc and crepus open the door from the cellar. crepus' face etched with worry when he spotted kaeya crying to adelinde. diluc had told him as much as he could but all the information he gathered was kaeya started covering his ears and crying.
"-all the voice does is sing and sing. i don't even like some of the songs it sings! i don't- i don't know," kaeya stammered, not noticing the two others that joined. "i don't know what happening to me. i'm scared."
crepus smiled at adelinde and nodded to her, signaling that he can handle it from here. adelinde gave a grateful nod and brushed herself off the floor to continue her duties.
"my boy," crepus smiles, kneeling in front kaeya to see him better. he brushed his face with a thumb and hugged him. crepus chuckled when kaeya hugged him tighter.
"my boy," the man continued with a knowing smile on his face. "that's your soulmate system. you can hear them singing if they sing as they can hear you singing when you sing."
kaeya lets go from crepus' hold and sniffled his tears away, "what? but isn't a soulmate system when things fall on you?"
diluc from the back of the room silently listened in, also confused as kaeya. didn't everyone have the same soulmate system?
crepus pats kaeya's shoulders, "we all have different ways to know who our soulmate is. yours and diluc's soul systems are different from everyone."
"master crepus is right." adelinde piped in while dusting off the dust on the shelves. "my soulmate system is a countdown to when i'll meet them."
kaeya looked at the woman shocked, "so not everyone has things falling on them?"
"correct." crepus raved, "but unlike diluc's soul system, instead of things falling on me, it appears on my hand for my soulmate system."
diluc eyes his brother, picking up a stray book on a chair and handed it to adelinde to help her.
kaeya pulled a cheeky grin and pointed to diluc, "diluc's eavesdropping."
the said boy gasped and turned his body around to make it look like he was doing something busy.
crepus bellows a laugh, "so what song is your soulmate singing?"
...
to be frank, kaeya had no idea what his soulmate sang that day. it was random words jumbled together. in fact, most things his soulmate sings are songs he has never heard before. it progressed from simple tunes, but now kaeya feels like his soulmate might be a song composer.
when he was younger he'd brag to diluc saying "my soulmate sings so well! what does your soulmate sound like, hah!"
to which diluc would respond with
he grins, swirling his wine around the glass as he watches a stack of papers hit diluc's face while bar tending on the first floor. kaeya clinks his glass on the table, watching people enter and leave the tavern from above.
today, his soulmate sings a song he's heard of.
'the wellerman,' and judging from the pauses and missing lyrics, kaeya safely assumes his soulmate was singing a duet with someone.
"soon may the wellerman come, to bring us sugar and tea and rum!"
kaeya hums the next few notes, never singing. after hearing his soulmate sing for the first time, his thought was to never sing- not when his soulmate could be a billionaire for singing with their voice.
only on occasions he would sing to let his soulmate know he was there.
he finishes the last sip of his wine and descends down the tavern stairs, raising a hand to acknowledge rosaria drinking in the corner. he airily chuckles, seeing diluc scrunch his eyes at the papers in front of him instead of looking at kaeya.
kaeya pushes the door open, humming along to the song his soulmate sings. he strolls by the alleyways, waving a hello to flora and a couple dogs that bark at his feet, scratching behind its ears.
he hears a bard singing at the plaza and saunters towards the music, climbing up the stairs and his frame almost freezes when seeing someone acting out to the song playing in his head.
good hunter's table tips over with a person on it. they land smoothly to the ground with a grin while singing with a resident bard.
"one day when the tonguing is done, we'll take our leave and go," they sing with so much melody and soul. the bard in green rumbles with cheer, raising his hands and dancing with the other with an arm latched around another.
kaeya watches, mesmerized by the singing and clapping around the plaza. he claps along and laughs when the bard drags his friend up to the walls of the fountain, singing louder.
the makes eye contact with the singer and waves. the singer waves back, unaware of what kaeya now knows.
soulmates.
he clued the pieces together and admired his soulmate from a distance, not wanting to disturb the performance.
"she'd not been two weeks from shore, when down on her a right whale bore!" the bard sings in glee.
kaeya quietly sings the next part, blending with the crowd. the whoops and cheers grow louder, chanting for his soulmate to sing the part kaeya sand under his breath, but to his surprise his soulmate tenses.
"WAIT! stop!" they hush the crowd with a hand and confuse everyone, "my soulmate's singing! but they're a bit too quiet. they never sing so shh, this is rare!"
the people murmur, watching kaeya's soulmate covering their ears to hear him clearer. kaeya grins, taking this opportunity to sing out loud.
"soon may the wellerman come to bring us sugar and tea and rum!" kaeya waltzes in front of the people who create a pathway for him.
his soulmate's eyes snap to him and he steps up next to them, standing on the fountain. the bard grins, and cheers. the crowd follows his cheer, watching their cavalry captain sing to his soulmate.
kaeya takes his soulmate's hand and presses a kiss on the back, "hello darling, i'm kaeya."
his soulmate doesn't hear him talking, no. they hear music when he speaks. though, kaeya's introduction threw them off, who's to say they couldn't return the gesture.
"a pleasure to meet you at last," they place a hand over their forehead for drama. they grin taking kaeya's waist closer to them and whisper in his ear, "you have a marvelous voice."
mondstadt had never seen kaeya at loss for words and a blush rising his face.
thoma: you taste the same things your soulmate tastes, no matter how strange- even when you're already eating something else
for most times, you were envious of your soulmate for eating the most lavishing food- food only one with money can get. you so desperately wanted to try the food they ate.
you didn't know what they ate, but only knew of the taste. sometimes it clashes with what you eat, like one time you ate an orange while your soulmate started toothbrushing. it wasn't very pleasant to say the least.
you were minding yourself, gathering food for your dinner until you taste something horrible.
wtf is my soulmate eating
it is a vile taste on your tongue, and no amount of water can wash the taste off. you try rinsing it, you tried eating something with a stronger taste, but no matter what, the thing your soulmate ate just stays there. it's disgusting.
you buy anything sour to un-taste what you tasted, and it still doesn't work. walking nearby a tea house, you see a man of blonde, clutching his stomach and laughing at a traveler from afar. call it fate, because it probably is, you know by the second he says his stomach hurts, he is your soulmate.
you point at him with a pointed glare, "what on earth did you EAT?!"
you take a bite of a sliced purple melon in your hand and the man in front of you widens his jade eyes, noting the food you're eating and the blooming taste on his tongue. the traveler next to him knits their brows, looking between you and their friend.
"thoma," the traveler calls. "who's this?"
thoma looks at you apologetically and sheepishly rubs the nape of his neck. "hey? i did it to win a contest... i couldn't let my pride down." he pauses, looking at you, "forgive me?"
you wanted to throw a punch on him, but you knew he had it worse with a bad aftertaste and a stomach ache.
you sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose. and place a mischievous grin, "take me on a date with food that's actually good, and then i'll think about forgiving you."

Masterlist
Chapter 12
“Yes, yes, yes!” Spencer excitedly left the hospital, immediately calling you.
“Y/N Y/L/N” you answered, having not checked the caller ID first.
“Guess what?” Spencer smiled.
“Hi Spence. What?” your tone instantly became lighter across the phone.
“The doctor cleared me. I don’t need crutches anymore!” Spencer exclaimed.
“Oh my god, that’s great! I know how much you hated them,” you responded.
“Yes, I did not like not being able to help you with Jo as much. But do you know what this also means…” he prompted.
“What?” you asked.
“I will actually be able to walk around and
take you on a real date ,” he beamed.
“Looking forward to it,” you grinned.
“How about tonight?” he asked excitedly.
“What about Jo?”
“JJ’s,” he replied quickly.
Clearly, he had already thought this through completely.
“Okay. I’d ask you what time you’re picking me up but we are both living in the same place right now so I’ll see you at home,” you giggled.
“See you at home,” he repeated with a massive smile plastered on his face.
-
“Mommy, why can’t I come?” Jo pouted, clinging on to your neck as you brought her out to the car.
“Me and Daddy are going to do BORING adult things,” you pretended to snore, “You don’t want to come, Baby J. You get to go have a fun playdate with Henry. I’m so jealous.”
You buckled her in and closed the car door, feeling arms wrap around your waist.
“Boring?” Spencer asked, feigning hurt.
“So boring,” you teased, giving him a kiss.
“You look beautiful by the way,” Spencer earnestly looked into your eyes.
You opened your mouth to respond but there was a faint knock on the car window.
“The princess is getting impatient,” he chuckled, climbing into the driver’s seat.
-
“Hi!” JJ greeted the three of you at the door as you set Jo down who immediately ran inside in search of her best friend.
“Thank you for watching her,” you said.
“Oh, of course. Don’t worry about it! Now, go! Don’t waste any more of your night off talking to me,” she ushered you away.
“Bye! I’ll text you when we’re on our way back to get her,” Spencer waved.
Spencer then grabbed your hand, interlocking your fingers and pulling you back towards the car as your head fell back in delightful laughter.
-
“You know it’s funny,” JJ said to Will as they were watching you two out the window, “Before I even knew that they had a history together, I was considering setting them up together.”
“What made you think that?” Will questioned, “I mean they’re both very nice people but I wouldn’t have thought about that.”
“I don’t know. I just felt like there could be something between them...turns out there already was,” she smiled.
-
Spencer pulled the car up to a beautiful patio dining area overlooking a lake. It was dusk and the sun was setting so stringed lights were hung up all around the tables.
“Spence, I heard it takes like a year to get a reservation here,” you looked at him incredulously.
“I have my ways,” he kissed your hand, “Come on.”
You walked up to the hostess with your hands interlocked.
“Dr. Spencer Reid for two,” he politely said to her.
“Right this way,” she guided you to your table with menus in her hand.
Spencer, ever the gentleman, pulled out your chair for you. You thanked the hostess but your eyes never left Spencer.
Once Spencer was seated, a silence fell over the two of you.
“This is kind of an awkward first date because we already know everything about each other,” you admitted.
“Yes, we are doing things a little backwards but at least I know I already love every single thing about you,” Spencer smiled.
You blushed, “Ditto.”
“Hey there,” the waitress approached your table, “What can I get started for you both?”
“I’ll have a glass of red wine please,” you said.
“I’ll just have water, thanks. Also, can we get spring rolls as an appetizer,” Spencer asked.
“Sure thing, I’ll be right back with those,” she wrote your order down in her notepad and left the table.
“Why am I surprised you remembered my affinity for spring rolls?” you laughed.
“I know it’s technically impossible for me to forget anything but even if I didn’t have an eidetic memory, I still wouldn’t forget a single thing about you,” he spoke.
You felt your cheeks heat up yet again.
“You have always had a way with words, Dr. Reid,” you took a sip from the wine glass that the waitress placed in front of you to hide your bashful grin.
-
You were headed back to JJ’s after a wonderful dinner. You were on a backroad and it was starting to drizzle. The radio was playing softly as you played with Spencer’s fingers in your hand.
Signed, Signed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder began to play through the radio. Spencer excitedly turned to look at you.
“This is our song, remember?” he beamed.
“Yeah, I remember,” you giggled.
Before you know what was happening, Spencer had pulled the car over and turned the radio up loudly.
He let go of your hand and exited the car.
“Spence, it’s raining!” you laughed.
“Good thing we have a dryer at home. Come on!” he walked around to your side, opening your car door and offering his hand.
You accepted and he pulled you out of the car, twirling you around. You danced around hand in hand, splashing in puddles without a care in the world.
You and Spencer were both singing at the top of your lungs, occasionally breaking from the lyrics to let out a joyous laugh. As the song faded out, he dipped you down, smiling widely. You slicked his wet hair back as he pulled you in for a kiss.
You didn’t know how long the kiss lasted but you finally pulled apart when there was a loud honk in front of you. A car was stopped in the road, waiting for you to finish your makeout session in the middle of the street.
“Sorry!” Spencer called out to the driver as you both giddily ran back to your car.
You kissed him once more once you were back inside the safety of the car.
-
You were grinning like fools when Will opened the door.
“Do I want to know?” Will chuckled, gesturing at your soaked clothes.
“I think it’s better if we keep it to ourselves,” you smiled.
JJ came around the corner with a sleepy Jo in her arms.
“Well it looks like you two had fun,” she said as she handed Jo to Spencer.
“Thank you again. If you guys ever want to go out, we can watch Henry,” you offered.
“It’s really not a problem but we may take you up on that some time. Have a good night, guys,” JJ smiled.
“Daddy, why are you wet?” Jo asked curiously.
“Mommy and Daddy had to walk in the rain back to their car after the long meeting,” Spencer pretended to sound unamused as to not let the child know about your fun night without her.
“Me and Henry had mac and cheese for dinner and then we played dinosaurs and then we watched Finding Nemo,” Jo informed you both on the drive home.
“Well it sounds like you had an exciting night,” you smiled.
Once you got home, Spencer offered to tuck Jo into bed while you changed out of your damp clothes.
You peeked into the room just as Spencer was giving her a kiss on the forehead and getting up from the bed.
“I should go,” Spencer spoke softly.
“Or...you could stay,” you offered quietly.
Spencer smiled, “The latter sounds much better.”
“Now go change into sweats from my closet before you catch a cold,” you ushered him into your room.
You went downstairs to give Spencer some privacy, turning the kettle on to heat up and taking out two mugs.
You slowly made your way back upstairs with two warm mugs of chamomile tea. You tapped slightly at the door before entering.
“Thank you,” Spencer accepted the mug into his hands, giving you a quick kiss.
“I’m going to put our clothes in the dryer and then I’ll be right back,” he said, taking a sip of the tea before setting it down on the nightstand.
Spencer returned a few minutes later, getting in under the comforters and wrapping one arm around you. You both sipped your tea in a comfortable silence as the rain continued to pour down outside.
“Chamomile tea’s health benefits include protecting against diarrhea, nausea, stomach ulcers, and gas,” Spencer stated.
“Ever the romantic, Dr. Reid,” you giggled, resting your head on his shoulder.

muscle memory pt. 3- sylvie x reader
a/n: i said i was going to post tomorrow but i couldn’t help myself. anyways, spoilers for episode 2 and 3 of loki, minor spoilers for the beginning of episode 3. final word count is 1.7k words!
read the previous part  read the next part   read the series
“How is Loki doing?” You asked Mobius, walking with him to the mess hall.
“He’s doing great. Making real progress, I would say.”
“Didn’t you have to have a meeting with Renslayer this morning because of his actions?” You asked, raising your eyebrows. His face scrunched up for a second.
“It’s like every time he is making progress, he takes two steps back.”
“That sounds more believable. You still think he’s worth all the trouble though?”
Mobius sighed slightly. “I really do believe in him. It’s not just an issue of whether I believe in him though, it’s whether Ravonna and the Timekeepers do.”
“Oh, you’re on first name basis now, with Renslayer?” You turned and grinned at Mobius, who immediately flushed after realizing his mistake.
“Not a word of this to anyone.” He said strictly, although there was a smile on his face as well.
“Yeah, yeah.” You said, standing in line with Mobius as he ordered his lunch before sitting down at a two-seat table. “Ravonna and Mobius-”
“C-7.” Mobius said strictly, although you could tell he was partly amused by your antics.
You continued in the same quiet, sing-songy voice as before.
“-on a jet ski. K-I-S-S-I-N-G.”
Mobius finished taking a sip of his drink and then applauded quietly, so as to not draw attention.
“Has anyone ever told you that you truly have all the originality of a grade-schooler?”
Before you could answer, you were interrupted by a tall man with long dark hair speed walking over to where Mobius and you were sitting.
Although he seemed to be in a hurry, you could tell that he was sizing up everybody in the room, including yourself.
“I found- oh, sorry. Didn’t see you there. Would you mind moving so that me and my partner could discuss something?” He asked politely, even smiling.
You locked eyes with him, smiling back at him.
“I’m good, thanks. You can just pull up a chair.”
His smile wavered and he maintained eye contact for a couple of moments longer before breaking it, going to a different table and pulling over a chair.
(You ignored the pointed look Mobius shot at you, like he was asking you to be the bigger person here. Unfortunately for him, you had no such intentions.)
“Right. I know how the Variant is hiding.”
Mobius leaned back.
“Talk about burying the lead. How?”
Loki smiled slightly, this smile much different from his last- he was proud of himself.
“He’s hiding in apocalypses.”
There was a moment of silence. You and Mobius exchanged a glance.
“Which one? There’s like a million all across history.” Mobius pointed out and Loki took a second to compose himself before starting his explanation.
You sat back as he explained his reasoning, watching with amusement as he put more salt and pepper into Mobius’ salad, handing him your own drink when he realized that Mobius’ drink was empty.
He gave you a nod of recognition and Mobius sent you another, even more exasperated glance as Loki poured your drink into the salad (although, in your opinion, seeing Loki grin like that made it worth it).
—— “How was Pompeii?” You asked, not even having to look up from the apocalypse case files to figure out that it was Loki who was approaching you.
He stopped for a minute, almost taken aback by your observation, before continuing and taking a seat in front of you.
“I was right, naturally.”
You scoffed slightly.
“Naturally.”
You looked up at him to find that his piercing eyes were already looking at you, almost curiously.
“You’re already sorting through the apocalypse files.”
“Naturally occurring disasters with no survivors, cross-referenced with the candy that Mobius picked up. You were confident that you were right so I figured I should start looking.”
Loki raised his eyebrows and smiled slightly.
“You’re smarter than you look. Could’ve saved me and Mobius some time.”
“He forgot to cross-reference?”
He nodded, hesitating for a moment before he grabbed some of the files that you hadn’t started looking over yet.
You looked at him appreciatively, though he wasn’t looking at you anymore.
The two of you sat there, looking at the case files in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes before Mobius walked into your office as well.
“What’s this?” Mobius asked, taking a cursory glance at the file on top.
“Kablooie.” You said simply and Mobius sighed slightly, frustrated that he hadn’t thought of it.
He grabbed a couple of files as well, standing up as he started reading.
“I think I have something,” Loki said a couple of minutes later, splaying the case out on your desk so that everyone could see. “Class ten apocalypse. Alabama, 2050.”
You looked it over and even just with a cursory glance, you could tell that this is where the Variant was hiding- you looked over at Mobius and saw pride on his face.
“You’re gonna take my job if I’m not careful.”
“Now to pitch it to Renslayer.” You said and Mobius nodded, already halfway out of your office. He closed the door behind him and you looked at Loki. “I don’t think I’ve seen him this excited in a while. In fact, the last time I saw him this excited, I think we saw a jet ski on a mission.”
Loki smiled to himself, though the expression disappeared when he looked back at you.
“And what about you?”
“Hm?” You tilted your head slightly, caught off-guard by the question.
“What excites you?”
You held his gaze for a couple of moments, feeling uncomfortable with how he looked at you, as if he knew something about you that you didn’t know about yourself.
You finally looked away, standing up.
“We should go meet Mobius. We’ll be heading out as soon as he gets the approval.”
“You say this like it’s a sure thing.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen Renslayer say no to him. Come on.”
                                                          ——
The rain sounded a hundred times louder when you were listening to it hit the roof of the Roxxcart, so loud that you could barely hear the sound of your own voice above the noise.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, positioning your reset baton defensively. The man standing by the plants seemed to hesitate slightly, although he was still much too calm for this kind of weather.
“Hurricane sale. Azaleas are half-off.”
“Could that be you?” You asked Loki, your eyes never leaving the man. Although his eyes continued to look between you and Loki, his gaze lingered on you longer.
“I… mean… I would’ve worn a suit, but it could be.”
You took a couple steps towards the man and he backed up, looking at you pleadingly.
“I don’t want to do this.” He said quietly and you tilted your head slightly, confused.
You took another step towards him.
“What-”
He grabbed your arm and a warm feeling came over your body.
A woman’s voice in your head lulled you to sleep, promising to bring you home and then everything went dark.
“Sylv, why are you acting so weird?” You asked, taking another sip of wine.
The blonde woman across from you smiled, although you could tell that she was forcing it for your sake.
“Another one of my suitors came and visited me today.” She said. You made a face and she laughed slightly.
“Complete fools, every one of them.”
“Fools for being deeply in love with me?” She asked, raising an eyebrow, almost as if she was allowing herself to play the part for a couple of brief moments.
“No, I’m above self-flagellation. They’re fools for thinking that they could ever win your heart.”
She laughed.
“And why is that?”
You leaned back in your chair.
“I have it on very good account that someone already has it.” You said and Sylvie‘s smile faded and her gaze didn’t quite meet yours, almost as if her mind was preoccupied elsewhere.
She looked back at you, her look apologetic.
The scene around you grew distorted, nothing quite clear anymore.
“I’m sorry.”
Her words repeated everywhere around you like you were in an echo chamber rather than…
Rather than…
Where were you?
The blonde woman that had been there a moment ago disappeared and with her, everything else.
When you came to, Mobius was kneeling beside you, waiting for you to wake up.
“C-7… are you okay?” He asked slowly, looking at you with more concern than you think anyone else ever has.
You propped yourself up and you looked around wildly for Loki or for the blonde woman- Sylvie- who had been in your head.
“Where are they?” You asked and you hated how desperate your voice sounded.
“They escaped. Take it easy, the Variant did a number on-”
“Mobius, I have to find her.” You said, trying to stand up only to be overwhelmed with nausea and dizziness.
Mobius supported you, keeping you from falling back onto the ground.
“I know. And we will, but we have more pressing issues right now. Come on.”
You didn’t protest, knowing that you wouldn’t be able to convince Mobius even if you promised to get him a jet ski afterwards.
What you had to do now, you would do alone.
He helped you through the portal back to the TVA and the rest of your team followed, all of them being immediately assigned to different Nexus events that were happening simultaneously.
You, being injured, were given the pass to stay back at the TVA.
You wondered if the Timekeepers knew what you were about to do, if they could’ve predicted it- after all, they were the ones who had made you, right?
You headed to the sector of the TVA where they issued TemPads, looking at the data of where all the TemPads were jumping to and from when you stumbled upon something odd- there was a TemPad that only had one jump registered in its entire history.
TVA to Lamentis-1, 2077.
Huh.
The Variant- Sylvie- whatever her name was, must’ve found out a way to stop the TemPad from feeding data into the system, but it must’ve reset when she jumped to the TVA.
You grabbed one of the TemPad’s that were out of commission for charging, unplugging it.
It was low on battery, but it would have to do.
You opened a portal for yourself using the exact same coordinates and time that they had put in and without any hesitation, you walked through.

Let me set the scene for you; Erwin is a professor at your college, teaching a small world history evening class and Zeke is his TA basically, acting as a teacher himself sometimes but mostly doing things like helping grade papers, helping students with their work, or working as Erwin’s fulltime assistant. Needless to say, you interact with the two of them on a daily basis quite a lot and it’s no secret to the other students that you’re most definitely their favorite, taking most of their attention away from everyone else. But they could care less, they’re not as passionate about the class or as eager to learn like you; another factor that drew Erwin and Zeke to you.
You’re a confident, strong book-savvy student who’s always ready to debate and bicker someone, snarky remarks leaving your mouth in an instant, and Zeke and Erwin always end up being the victim of those. Bickers and debates over information lasting the whole class session almost, either you winning and leaving them red in the face or them winning with a smug expression on their features and you storming out the classroom in annoyance. You all meet each other’s energy so well that you can’t help but clash from time to time, but the three of you do get along pretty well. Many times you’ve found yourself lingering after class to talk with them about everything and nothing like you’re all just good friends catching up. Your bond is definitely an interesting one.
It’s after one of these routine after-class talks that they invite you over formally for once, a dinner at Zeke’s house with Erwin and how could you possibly say no to that? A chance to be alone with your hot history teacher and his sexy teacher assistant.
You didn’t expect to be this nervous as you walked down the corridor leading to Zeke’s apartment yet here you were, fingers fidgeting with the rings on your fingers and your toes awkwardly rubbing against each other the closer you got. All the confidence that made your hips swing from left to right as you entered the classroom like you owned the whole school, the usual overtly confident y/n that they were used to was dwindling down into a nervous wreck. But you couldn’t let them see that, let them know the effect that they had on you, so you swallowed those anxious feelings as if they would be digested by your stomach and let a look of smugness take over your features as you made your way up to the door. Your hand ghosted over the cold wood, curling your fingers into a fist ready to knock but before you could even make contact with the door it was swinging open, greeting you with the sight of a smirking Zeke. He wore slacks with a beige plaid pattern going over them, a creme-colored shirt to match the brown of his pants, and an elongated dark brown coat that brought out the lightness of his round glasses perfectly.
“You look very nice tonight,” You complimented him for once as you made your way inside the apartment, “Finally you don’t look like a caveman for once.” The joke didn’t go over his head at all, him choosing only to acknowledge it with a dry chuckle. “Good evening to you too Ms. /l/n, You look mighty fine yourself.”
It was then that your confidence came rushing back to you as you remembered the outfit that adorned your body. It was a simple silky champagne pink bodycon dress with a corset-like top, but on you, it fit like a supermodel. The dress hugging every curve and dip on your body and showing off a little more cleavage than expected, your nipples even poking out through the thin fabric, but you couldn’t have picked out an outfit more perfect for this night. The constant glances Zeke took unremorsefully at where the dress stopped at the high of your thighs let you know that it was a great choice. Lips curling up into a smile as you thanked him.
 “Where’s Professor Smith?”
“Just over here in the kitchen, follow me.”
Is this where being a teacher assistant got Zeke? You couldn’t help but admire the decor and set up of his home as he led you through the hallway and living room to the kitchen where Erwin was standing with his back faced to the two of you, broad shoulders contracting and going back to their original form with every shake of the pan in front of him. He was cooking? That’s something you definitely didn’t expect to see, thinking they’d opt-out for takeout for the night, but it just made the night feel more genuine than it already was.
“I thought I had heard you come in, y/n.” Erwin’s rich and smooth voice infiltrated your ears bringing you out of your thoughts. The same smile on your lips from when you thanked Zeke for his compliment earlier. “And please, leave Professor Smith for school. Call me Erwin.”
“Erwin.” You repeated with a nod, butterflies erupting in your stomach and your cheeks warming up from the wink that followed after his words. “I’m surprised to see you cooking. I was sure you two would have takeout ready on the table when I came. Probably something cheap too like Chili’s.’ You jabbed at them, taking your place at the table while Zeke situated himself against the arch of the opening of the kitchen. Most people would’ve been offended by such a remark, hurt even, but they were so used to your snarkiness that all they could do was chuckle in return.
“Chili’s? No, Mcdonald’s would’ve been more fitting for you.” Zeke messed with you back, warranting your tongue to stick out at him in a childish manner.
“Calm down children,” Erwin joins in on the teasing as he makes his way to the table with three steaks and bowls filled with sides in his other arm, Zeke going over to help him. Dinner wasn’t too eventful, but it was enjoyable. Most of the time wasted away with the three of you talking about various topics the conversation swayed towards like how you usually did.
The three of you had decided to relocate to the living room after finishing dinner, now washing it down with a glass of wine as you three sat down silently enjoying each other’s company. But silence wasn’t your forte, so it didn’t take long at all for you to move from your position between them on the couch. Both of their eyebrows raised in confusion as they watched you search around the small area looking for whatever it was you were looking for, not knowing what to expect since you were, well, you after all.
“Found it!” You announced in a sing-song voice as you shimmied your way over the vintage phonograph vinyl player sitting in the middle of Zeke’s living room that must’ve cost him a fortune. And if it didn’t then the extensive rack of vinyl records sitting next to it definitely did. You squatted down so you were face to face with the rack and if you weren’t facing the other direction you would’ve saw the way both of their eyes immediately traveled down to your ass in the squatting position you were in before blue eyes met brown ones, a silent nod signifying confirmation of some sort between the two.
Any genre or artist you could think of occupied the shelves, your finger skimming over each and every one until you found one that you craved to hear. Soon the soft melodies of the instruments on the smooth jazz record infiltrated the living room, your body contorting and twisting in a sensual way with each beat that hit your ears. The closing of your eyes really showing how into it you were, arms wrapping around your own body like the two men weren’t watching from not too far away as you put on a show like you were in the comfort of your own room. What a tease, the two men thought to themselves, shifting and manspreading to try and soothe the uncomfortable ache between your legs that you were causing. You knew exactly what you were doing because this wasn’t the first time at all that you had done it. Plenty of times you showed up to class with a shirt on that revealed just a little too much or a skirt that practically put your whole lower body on display, legs spreading purposefully whenever you saw one of their eyes travel to the underside of your opened desk. You did everything in your power to make them succumb to their--no, your desires but it wasn’t until now that they let themselves be selfish.
Zeke was the first one to move from his position on the couch to make his way over to you, calloused hands grabbing at your sides and pulling you closer to his torso as he began to sway along with you, hands moving from your hips and letting them explore the surrounding skin before cheekily slapping your ass and earning a small yelp out of you. Erwin simply watched from the couch, for the time being, still sipping on his wine waiting on his opportunity to slip himself in.
“I figured this would happen eventually,” Zeke finally spoke up, “I just imagined something a lot less sensual; you bent over the desk in the classroom or something.”
Before you could counter his words with a sassy remark he moved his lips against yours, gently letting them ghost over yours for a second or two and even going as far as teasing you by rubbing them against yours before he finally indulged you with a kiss. The taste of wine and savoriness from dinner still lingering on both of your tongues as you deepened the kiss. Swirling your tongue around in a way that had precum dripping from the tip of his cock as he thought about how good it might feel if it was there instead, slurping the opaque liquid up. As much as you wanted to keep kissing him and let your tongues explore each other he decided that it was time to pull away, trailing kisses from the corner of your mouth to your neck where he gently let his teeth graze over the sensitive flesh, warranting a gentle moan from you.
It was like music to his ears and immediately he decided that he wanted to pull more from your plush lips, letting his kisses trail farther down until his lips were over one of your nipples protruding from the silk fabric, swirling his tongue around the sensitive nub at a painstakingly slow pace that made you want to shove him away from you completely for denying you pleasure.
“No bra on? What a lewd thing to do, but I wouldn’t expect anything like from someone like you.” He murmured against the fabric.
“Someone like me? What’s that supposed to mean?” You questioned, still a bite to your tone like earlier.
“A slut.” Erwin answered for him and it wasn’t until now that you noticed his presence from behind you, chiseled chest pressed up against your back and his breath fanning across your neck distracting you from the hand he brought up to rest at the nape at it. His other hand going down to scrunch your dress up around your waist. Revealing your lacy underwear to their doting eyes and especially to Zeke who was now dropping down to his knees in front of you. “She’s soaking fucking wet. Her panties are dripping with wetness.”
“You think we didn’t notice all your advances? All the times you traded your integrity just to get our attention like the bad girl you are, huh?” Erwin’s hand moved from the nape of your neck to the front of it, gently squeezing it with his hand and forcing you to look up at him. A chastising look on his features as he stared down at you, making you feel so little and small compared to his towering structure.
You had no words to respond to him with, too caught up in a daze in your head thinking that this couldn’t be true, that this was a dream you were going to wake up from in a couple of minutes. But it was the warmth of Zeke’s tongue prodding at your clit that brought you back to your senses, eyes widening in shock as you looked up at your professor. This was really happening.
“Hm, looks like the brat doesn’t have anything else to say.”
“I think I like her better like this anyway.” The blonde between your legs mumbles, sending a vibrational tingle up your spine and leaving your legs wobbling. He was so messy with it, tongue devouring you like you were the 2nd course on the menu tonight. You diverted your eyes down to him for a second, his staring right back up at you as he feverously worked his tongue against you. Your juices mixed with his saliva already wetting your thighs up along with his beard.
“Oh god, that f-feels so good.” You let out in a choked moan, knees daring to buckle on you and make you fall to the floor, but Erwin’s death grip around your torso stopped such from happening. Which you were also grateful, but that also meant you weren’t able to buck your hips up into Zeke’s face or swivel them the way you wanted to; taking away any sense of control you thought you had. It wasn’t too long after that you were releasing all over his beard, wetting it up as your insides clenched around nothing, desperately wanting one of their cocks to stuff you up and satisfy that craving.
Even after your orgasm, he didn’t stop. The pace of his tongue showed no sign of stopping and just to add to the sweet torture you felt two slender fingers entering your hole, a loud moan emitting from your lips in response. “I can’t take it. Too much.” You let out in a ragged breath.
“Come on, sweetheart. You can give us one more. You can take it. You don’t have any choice matter of fact, you’re going to give us as many as we want from you. Maybe if you weren’t so bratty things would be different.” Mouth too occupied on you, all Zeke could do was hum against you in agreeance.
“Erwin--”
“Aht, it’s daddy or professor to you from here on out.” Oh
“Daddy,” You quickly corrected yourself with a whine, “I can’t take it anymore. M’too sensitive. I need more. I w-want you inside of me.” Luckily for you, Zeke’s tongue was getting tired from being on you and he was quick to get off of his knees at your request to Erwin. “Look at the begging slut now. You weren’t like that when you first came. Guess you really are just all bark and no bite.” He teased you, fingers going to your nipples and pinching at them. You couldn’t even reply if you wanted to because his lips were on you like earlier forcing you to taste yourself on your tongue. And to your surprise Erwin joined in as well, leaning over from behind you and inserting himself to make a 3-way kiss that had all your tongues entangled with one another’s; everyone getting a taste of you.
“Zeke go sit on the couch and let y/n return the favor.” The older man spoke up after pulling away. Everyone moving away from such close proximity of each other so you could all go to your positions over on the couch. By the time you turned around to head in that direction Zeke was already sitting on the couch with his cock free and sprung up against his stomach, twitching in your direction as he awaited your arrival. Erwin on the other hand was nowhere to be found, completely gone from your view, but you didn’t let that stop you from making your way over to the bearded mand; dropping on your knees as soon as you were in front of him.
Your hands move to engulf his thick cock with your hands, jerking it a few times and spreading around the pre-cum that cumulated on his tip before you began to lower your head. You were getting ready to bring his tip past your lips when the feeling of two broad hands gripping the crevice between your stomach and hips stopped you abruptly, presumably Erwin behind you getting ready to do something. You went to look behind you to confirm you suspicion only to be stopped by Zeke’s hand roughly grabbing at your chin forcing you to look up at him again.
“Nobody told you to stop or look behind you. Get back to work.” It was pathetic how much they were able to break you down in such a small amount of time because without a second thought you did exactly what he told you to do, slipping his cock past your lips and gently sucking on it while simultaneously running your tongue over the flushed tip. “And here I was thinking your mouth was only good for arguing.” He groaned out, earning a chuckle from the other man behind you.
Without the slightest bit of warning, Erwin is sliding his cock into you from behind, the mixture of Zeke’s saliva and your cum acting as a natural lubricant; allowing him to slip in and out of you as he pleased at a pace that made it so you were gagging on cock without hardly moving your head. Your hips also smacking against your professor’s without even moving them. It was like you were their personal sex toy and no longer one of their students, but this wasn’t even the beginning of it. They were nowhere near done with you.

Tumblr media
“Charlie, Heather, this is my girlfriend.” Henry grinned as he introduced you to his little brother and his wife.
“It's a pleasure to meet you.” Charlie grinned, throwing out an arm and giving you a hug.
“Sames.” You smiled back and returned his hug. “Hey.” You nodded, as Charlie and Heather introduced you to their kids.
The kids nodded and mumbled their hellos to you, then vanished to various corners of the house, while you, Henry, Charlie and Heather went into the kitchen. Heather pulled out wine glasses and Charlie grabbed a bottle of chilled Stella Rosa wine from the fridge.
“Is mum and pops coming over?” Henry asked, standing at the island, sipping his glass and resting his hand on your lower back.
“Yeah, mum said they'd be here in twenty.” Charlie nodded, taking a deep gulp of his own glass.
“Cool.” Henry nodded back, turning his head, his nose brushing the hair above your ear.
The doorbell rang several minutes later and Henry's parents joined the party of adults. You excused yourself at some point to go to the bathroom and were coming back out, when the sound of a guitar caught your attention. Biting your lip, you looked back towards the laughter and voices of Henry and the others, but decided to follow the sound of the instrument instead, finding Charlie and Heather's oldest daughter, Maddie, in the den, sitting cross legged on the carpet, strumming a guitar.
“Wow, you're pretty good.” You commented, when she paused for a moment “Oh, sorry.” You chuckled, when you startled her. “Where'd you learn to play?” You asked, stepping further into the room and sitting down beside her.
“My dad taught me.” She replied, chewing on her lip as she regarded you shyly.
“My dad taught me how to play too.” You smiled at her, sweetly.
“You know how to play too?” She asked, surprised.
“I do.” You nodded.
Maddie put her guitar down and rushed out of the room, coming back a moment later with another guitar. “You want to play with me?” She asked, excitedly holding the guitar out to you.
You smiled a little bit wider at her. “Sure.” You nodded and took the instrument from her, situating it in your lap. “Do you have any songs you like?” You asked her.
“I do have a song that I wrote?” Maddie admitted, shyly brushing her hair behind her ear.
“Oh yeah?” You grinned, lifting a brow at her. “You want to teach it to me?” You asked, turning to face her.
“You actually want me to teach it to you?” Maddie asked, caught off guard by your request.
“A Hundred percent.” You nodded, positioning your fingers on the guitar strings and patiently waited for her to start giving you instructions.
Maddie's shock instantly melted away into a bright excitement and she started showing you what strings to pluck and play and in no time, the pair of you were playing the song together and falling more and more in sync the more you played it.
“Can I show you something?” Maddie asked after one last play through of the song.
“Of course.” You nodded at her, resting your arms on your guitar.
Maddie set her guitar down and raced out of the room at full speed, you could hear her feet pounding up the stairs to the second floor and Heather yell out from the kitchen for her to slow down, but she didn't, and she came thundering back into the room with you, plopping down on carpet beside you, spreading out a crumpled piece of paper with several lines written in blue ball-point pen, with the title 'Cover Me in Sunshine' scribbled at the top in black sharpie.
“You wrote a song.” You identified it instantly.
“Yeah.” She nodded, vigorously. “I've never shown it to anyone else before though.”
“Have you ever sang it before?” You asked, reading through the lyrics.
“No.” She replied, becoming shy again. “I-..” She bit her lip and sighed. “I don't think I can sing that well.”
“Hm.” You pressed your lips together. “What can I do to help?” You asked, tilting your head at her.
“I know you're a really good singer.” She said, making you blush.
Maddie wasn't wrong, you had made your living as a recording artist, a successful and famous one at that, so it didn't surprise you that Maddie knew that you could sing.
“Could you sing it?” She asked.
“How about this.” You said, licking your lips. “Do you have a pencil?” You asked her.
“Yeah.” She nodded, getting up and crossing the room to grab it and came back, handing it to you.
“I'll sing these parts.” You drew a bracket around a set of lyrics. “We'll duet these together.” You underlined the lyrics you and Maddie would sing together. “And you can sing this last part.” You circled the last set of lyrics for her to sing on her own.
“How's that sound?” You asked, giving her an encouraging look and smile.
“Okay.” Maddie nodded, still shy and apprehensive, but willing to try, since you were.
“Good.” You nodded and the two of you picked up your guitars and started working on it.
Tumblr media
“Hey, where did y/n go?” Heather asked, just realizing you hadn't come back from the bathroom.
Everyone stopped, frowning at each other, just then realizing the same. It had almost been an hour since you had excused yourself to go to the bathroom. Henry set his glass down and stepped out of the kitchen and went out to the hallway bathroom, the others following behind him, to make sure you were all right, when they all heard the sound of guitar music and singing coming from the den. They all looked at each other, confused, and followed it, stopping in the doorway of the den, finding you and Maddie sitting on the floor together, grinning and giggling, just having a blast together as you jammed out and played the song together, over and over.
You: I've been dreaming, friendly faces I've got so much time to kill Just imagine people laughing I know some day we will And even if it's far away Get me through another day.
You and Maddie: Cover me in sunshine Shower me with good times Tell me that the world's been spinning since the beginning And everything'll be alright Cover me in sunshine!
Maddie: Cover me in sunshine Shower me with good times Tell me that the world's been spinning since the beginning And everything'll be alright Cover me in sunshine!
You and Maddie were startled after finishing the song by their sudden and involuntary clapping, they were just so caught up in the moment and how amazingly beautiful the song was and how well the two of you played together, they were clapping before they knew it. Both of you blushed and became shy as the group funneled into the room with the two of you.
“That was amazing!” Everyone of them said, crowding around.
“Have you been sitting in here with her the whole time, just playing guitar and singing?” Henry asked, squatting down beside you, while the others clamored over Maddie, a huge smile on his face as his eyes sparkled with love.
“Yeah.” You chuckled, smiling. “I was coming back from the bathroom to join you guys again, when I heard her playing and came to check it out. One thing led to another and she taught me a song she composed, then a song she wrote and, well, you heard that by-product.” You said, motioning between you and Maddie.
“You wrote all that, Maddie?” Charlie asked, surprised by his daughter.
“Yeah.” She nodded, rubbing her arm.
“That's amazing.”
“It is.” You nodded, smiling at her. “She's got a lot of talent.” You complimented her.
You were impressed by Maddie, she had a natural talent.
“You think so?” Maddie asked, coming to life again.
“Completely.” You assured her, honestly.
Tumblr media
Henry couldn't keep his eyes off of you, even after you joined him on the couch in the living room with the other adults, grinning like the love crazed man he was. The pair of you had been dating for several months and this was the first actual meeting you had with his family, he was positive you would hit off with his brother, sister-in-law and parents, but the connection you made with his niece had come out of nowhere and he was pleasantly surprised by it. The sound of you playing and singing with Maddie kept replaying over and over in Henry's head and it only elated him more.
“Are you okay?” You asked as you got into the car with him.
“Yeah, I'm great. Why?”
“Because, I'm worried your face is going to get stuck like that.” You chuckled, grinning at him.
“It just might, and I'm all right with that.” Henry replied, resting back in the driver's seat. “I've never had a girlfriend make such a connection with my family before.” He confessed to you, reaching out to rest his hand on your knee, gently squeezing it.
“Guess, I covered you in sunshine then.”
“More than you know.” He smiled, leaning over to kiss you.

Mrs. Bucciarati | Bruno Bucciarati x Fem! Reader | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
┊❥ Part 6 - Down Time
MASTERLIST
✧『Fandom』: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
✧『Character』: Bruno Bucciarati
✧『Word Count』: 3,129 words 16,714 characters
✧『Summary』: The group kills time as they wait for Giorno and Mista to reach their destination.
Tumblr media
The group quickly made its way back on the road to Venezia. Mista, Fugo, and Giorno were on the surface, driving the car while everyone else stayed inside to protect Trish as a second line of defense.
Inside the turtle, you had been sitting in between Narancia and Abbacchio. You had sat there first because Narancia wanted to show you something in the magazine he was reading but Abbacchio made it awkward by sitting next to you.
You had taken notice because previously, he was trying to avoid you.
Bruno was sitting on the other side of the table, his head tucked into the laptop that was used for communications. You wanted to talk but you felt like that would be distracting since he wanted to focus.
You didn’t know why but often, you would think of the first time the two of you met and the events that followed. You used to cringe at the memory of it but now that you were sure about your feelings towards him, it was wholesome.
One of your favorite memories with him was during a “charity” event your father held a few years ago. It wasn’t actually for anything charity-related.
Just another excuse to greet Italian capos. You hated it. You hated how corrupt your father was. He had a way of keeping investors while still doing dirty work.
Amongst them was Polpo from Passione in Italy and with him was a young Bruno Bucciarati. He was 17 at the time and you had just turned 16. Polpo agreed to take Bruno with him after much begging on his part. The boy just wanted to see you again.
That night, you were completely upset. Your father wanted you to sing since he and much of the staff agreed you had a nice singing voice. You were too nervous and honestly, you couldn’t even see yourself singing well at all. This upset him and he made you stay by him all night.
The ball was boring until Bruno had arrived. He found you quickly and wanted to talk. He figured that you were being held hostage by your father and wanted to help.
When we walked over, he cleared his throat. “Excuse me.” He said, grabbing your father’s attention. Your father had been speaking to a popular district attorney.
“It’s an honor to have been invited here, Mr. (l/n).” Bruno bowed, trying to seem as gentlemanly as possible.
Your father finished up his conversation before nodding the attorney away and taking a sip of his drink. “Oh, Bruno Bucciarati. I didn’t know Polpo was bringing you. I’m sure I only sent out one invitation.” Your father joked, even laughing when no one found it funny.
You just tried to tune him out, fiddling with your dress that was the same color as your father’s tuxedo.
Bruno humored him, laughing as well. “Well, you see, I couldn’t pass up the chance of hearing (y/n) sing so I had Polpo make room for one more.” His eyes lingered over to you. Bruno seemed so friendly and soft but he was tall for his age and it was almost intimidating…
You looked away, blushing after seeing the innocent twinkle in his eyes when he saw you were all dressed up. Normally, you were wearing loungewear since you were always inside. You looked so stunning!
“That’s too bad because little (y/n) over here decided that she didn’t want to help me pull any investors and she’s not singing at all tonight.” Your father lazily waved his hand in your direction, sipping more of his wine.
“I don’t believe I can sing. I’ve never had any lessons.” You spoke up for the first time. Your father narrowed his eyes at you. “Then after tonight, we’re getting you some.”
You sighed, looking away from your father and off to the side. This was so awkward… you wanted to leave.
Bruno saw what was unfolding and intervened before things could escalate.
“There’s nothing to worry about, Mr. (l/n). I’m sure (y/n) has an amazing voice. She’s just shy and there’s nothing wrong with that. Perhaps, I can help her build her confidence.” He offered his hand to you. You just stared at it.
Your father sighed. “I suppose so. I trust you, Bruno.”
Your father then let you spend the night with him and it was a lot better than just standing around.
All night, Bruno had been such a gentleman and even slow danced with you when no one was watching. You weren't very good and neither was he but you still found it enjoyable.
You had been reminiscing about the past when your thoughts were interrupted by Bruno who had been speaking to Abbacchio.
Bruno had gotten a message on the laptop asking Abbacchio to use his stand to reveal a message that was left behind.
Everyone had gathered around and you got up to look too.
Abbacchio decided to go back 15 hours. The person Moody Blues took the shape off was of the older man you had seen when you all first picked up Trish.
He explained more instructions for the team to follow. You felt so out of place. Everything about this was so bizarre. The moment you get to be with Bruno, you get wrapped up in some elaborate plan. You haven’t sat down with him since you arrived.
When you came to, you saw the image of Mr. Pericolo with a gun to his head. You had only zoned out for a moment! What happened?
Pericolo explained that because of his influence, the enemy knows that he’s helping Bruno deliver Trish. He isn’t a stand user so he doesn’t know how he could defend himself.
His only escape was killing himself before they got to him. It was tragic but these are things you sign up for in Passione.
He pulled the trigger and you saw red before Bruno hugged you to his chest and turned around to block the image of what you almost saw.
You tried to resist but he only held you tighter until the image of it was gone.
“Oh my god!!” You heard Narancia yell.
Trish and Abbacchio were speechless. You had wished that Bruno could’ve used his energy to protect the eyes of one of the children, especially Trish, but it was over now.
You wanted to cry but you were in so much shock. You felt like after everything was over, you would need some kind of therapy. It’s only been a few days and you’ve endured so much trauma. You were just a human.
“Bruno…” you tried to loosen his grip. “…let go.”
He squeezed you again when you had said his name but then without a word, he let go of you. He stood up to talk but his eyes were darkened and he was visibly sweating.
“Mr. Pericolo.”
You were dazed for a moment by his behavior but then you looked over at Trish who must have been traumatized.
You walked over and grabbed her hand. “I’m sorry that you had to see that. Are you okay?” You asked, sweetly. Her eyes darted over to you. She was shaking and sweating as well. It hurt you that she had to deal with all of this at such a young age.
“M-mhm.” She nodded and gave your hand a tight squeeze. “It’s going to be okay.” You told her.
You then realize that you would have to comfort Narancia, Fugo, and Giorno, as well. Being a mother figure wasn’t easy. You felt so obligated to be there for all of them but it was impossible.
You didn’t know how helpful Bruno was towards the younger members but you could only hope he took their mental health into account.
Before you could ask everyone about how they felt, Bruno had sent Mista and Giorno to drive while the rest of you stayed inside the turtle.
You couldn’t figure out why Bruno kept sheltering you. He wanted you by his side or inside the turtle at all times. You wanted to be able to help him protect everyone. You were tired of him acting like he could do everything on his own.
It was hard trying to get a good word in since everyone was in such close proximity. To everyone else, the way you and Bruno interacted was similar to parents. All of the kids had prominent parental issues so the two of you served as a support system when they needed it.
You were sitting next to Trish and you were unsure if you should give her space or make yourself available to speak to. You thought that maybe you should use this time to talk to Bruno but Trish had actually spoken first.
“Mrs. Bucciarati, what was your life like before you came here?” Her voice was pretty monotone as always but you could tell she was sad.
“My life? Well, I was pretty much a homebody. I just tended to my garden and practiced Italian.” You answered.
“Practicing Italian? Why?” She looked at you before realizing you weren’t a native Italian. It’s probably why your dialect sounded a bit different than most. You had a more formal way of speaking compared to the others.
“I’m from America and I know Bruno because I’m the daughter of a boss as well.” You explained with a smile. She didn’t reply to you. She just stared at you with her mouth opened a small bit. Maybe she could finally relate to someone.
You then turned your attention to Bruno who had been using the laptop. You were so worried about the boys. It didn’t feel right for you to send Mista and Giorno out on their own.
“Bruno.” You got up from your spot with Trish and went over to Bruno. You didn’t want to create a scene, so just in case things escalated, you spoke in English.
“I know you have faith in the boys, but is it really wise to send them out on their own? I could’ve gone with them.” You said down next to him, not really interested in what he was doing enough to look.
He just hummed before saying. “I don’t want you to be separated from me anymore. The last two times we got separated, you were hurt and every time we’ve been attacked, you were hurt.”
You huffed. “But you told me you were proud of me. You still don’t believe I can handle myself?”
“Cara mia, I know you can handle yourself but I just can’t have you hurt anymore. You were only taught to fight to a certain extent. If either of us makes a mistake then you could be killed.” His voice was firm. He’s never spoken to you in this tone before and it almost embarrassed you.
“But we have made mistakes. We both have. I’ve done my part in helping. I just still haven’t proven myself to you.” You turned away from him, upset that he was babying you and belittling the training you went through just for him.
Bruno look over at you who had been completely facing the other way. He reached over to your shoulder but you lightly jerked it away.
Why couldn’t you just understand that he was trying to protect you? Was it really wise to promise Giorno this ridiculous plan? Your first impression of Italy has just been filled with bloodshed. Although, if he didn’t then he never would have been Capo.
How long would it have taken him to reach the status of Capo normally?
Bruno pushed those thoughts out of his head. Maybe he was smothering you a little. It was just so hard not seeing you as a delicate flower anymore. He wished that he could’ve seen you more.
As an attempt to show affection, he reached out to your hand that has been free and resting on the sofa. The tips of his fingers brushed yours lightly but you had quickly curled them up, hiding them in a fist.
You didn’t seem to want to hold hands either.
Across the room, Fugo and Narancia were pondering on what you two could’ve been talking about. They didn’t know much English either. It was easy for the others to pay so much attention to you because of how new you were to them.
“Hey, Fugo, you know some English right? What do you think they’re talking about?” Narancia asked. “I’ve never seen Bucciarati so soft!” He hoarsely whispered into his ear.
Fugo, who was trying to rest his eyes, was getting annoyed at the boy. “No, Narancia, I don’t know what they’re saying. I’m not going to violate their privacy either. If it were meant for us to hear, then they wouldn’t have changed languages in the first place.” He explained. This made Narancia frown and retract himself.
You figured that maybe you should talk to Abbacchio for advice. You went over to the purple schemed man and Bruno’s eyes followed you curiously.
He watched as you talked to Leone with confidence and not anything at all like he expected. At first, when you first met them in Naples, he could sense your fear for that man but now you didn’t seem like you were at all.
“Leone,” You sighed and his head snapped over to you. You jumped at his reaction. “A-Abbacchio, I mean, sorry.” You raised your hands in defense and began to sweat. His neutral expression didn’t change. Deep down he didn’t mind your voice saying his name.
“As Bruno always called the shots this way? Sending the children out?” You asked softly.
This annoyed Abbacchio but still, his expression didn’t change. Of course, you would want to talk to him about Bruno of all people. Since you’ve been here, it’s just been about you and him and can’t even last 2 minutes apart when you’re just a foot away from him.
He knew that the only reason he felt this way was that he was jealous. He was probably just jealous of Bucciarati the whole time. What would it take for him to get a woman like you?
“Yeah. Always been that way.” He replied. “They know that they’re doing. Nothing new.”
A small gasp left your mouth. Everyone seemed so uncaring of the safety of the boys. But this didn’t have to mean the end.
You just had to be strong enough to protect them yourself. “I see.” That was all you had said. You didn’t care if it didn't seem like Bruno had faith in you or that there were so many children or how nonchalant Leone was about it. You had a stand too and you knew how to use it.
“Th-That’s all.” You smiled nervously before giving the man his space. You scooted further away, not wanting to move around too much and irritate everyone.
When you looked up, you saw that Bruno was just staring at you, watching. He looked upset but not angry. You wanted to comfort him but you were still upset with him. You’ve worked so hard and it’s like it doesn’t even matter to him.
For some hours, you occupied yourself with a magazine. You tested yourself by reading Italian fashion articles and keeping notes of things you wanted to buy with Bruno’s money. You made sure to bookmark pages with nice shoes and dresses you’d like to try on.
Your actions were interrupted by feeling a portion of the couch next to you sink. You looked to your left to see it was Bruno with the computer resting on his lap. He didn’t say a word and only shifted his weight so that his thigh was touching your exposed one.
This made you blush, so hard that physically acknowledged that he had done this when his goal was to be smooth with it.
“B-Bruno-” You whispered. Bruno ignored you, resting a free hand on the thigh closest to him. He leaned over, so close that the message you got was that he was trying to kiss you.
Really? In front of everyone? What’s gotten into him?
“Are you upset with me?” He whispered into your ear.
Your face heated up. You would feel his breath hitting your ear.
“N-No.” You replied, turning your head to him.
His eyes were narrowed and his face frowned. He leaned in further but he didn’t kiss you. He…licked your face?!
You yelped, breaking contact with him. What the hell was that!?
“To me, it seems like you’re lying.”
“Huh? Is this that lie detection thing you told me about? I thought that was a joke…” You wiped the faint sign of saliva on your face. “Warn me next time, okay?”
He chuckled before kissing you softly. “I thought it would cheer you up.” He said in between breaths.
You kissed back tenderly, your cheeks burning at his actions. Was this a dream?
Your minor make-out session was cut short when Narancia had brought you both back to reality.
Butterflies grew inside of you as you covered your face and turned away. You were always such a shy and delicate flower and now he knew that he could tease you with a public display of affection.
Narancia had been volunteering to be the one to go out to be on the surface so that he could use Aureo Smith to find Mista and Giorno.
You parted from Bruno, enjoying the remaining time just leaning against him. His body was warm and his cologne was faint with a hint of sweat from all the intense fighting.
You were an odd couple but the love was undeniable.
Mista and Giorno were found. Mista had sustained a lot of injuries, which the blonde male healed with his stand.
You played your role and scolded Mista at his lack of awareness to which he replied by calling you “Mom.”
“You should be more careful. You can’t always expect your wounds to be fixed. Giorno can’t help you forever!” You tapped his forehead aggressively.
“Hey, Hey! Yeah, I get it, okay, mom?” He swatted your hand away. This made you giggle.
“Mom? Where’d that come from?” You asked, chuckling to yourself.
“ ‘Cause, you’re annoying like one.” He yelled at you with faint pink dust on his cheeks.
You were the first female figure in his life that worried about him the way you did. It was very easy for them to get attached to you since they were all from broken homes.
It has only been a few days but with Bruno’s tough love and your soft and gentle nature, you two were scaffolding for what having parents was like. Minus the killing of the mafioso members pursuing you, of course.
It was unfortunate that such a cute “family” would come to an end.
