I'm sorry but I just need to rant quickly.

I know that for months people have been debating the "man or bear" question and joking about it. And I always stood by choosing the bear. But I never truly appreciated that decision until now. Now it's much more personal.

A girl that I've been at school with since grade 8 was stabbed by her boyfriend. We held a memorial for her today but it's never going to fill that void. Out of respect for her grandmother's wishes I will not share her name. But what I will share is that there is no case against the boyfriend.

I've googled and googled but there are no articles and no information about her death. He killed her and he seems to just be getting away. And it makes me sick.

So yes. I would choose the bear. And so would she. Because at least a bear wouldnt pretend to care about you and pretend to love you before it kills you. At least bear cannot betray you. At least the bear will grant you a better death.

She was 17. She had her whole life ahead of her. And she lost it to somebody that she loved and trusted.

So, yes. I would choose the bear. Every. Single. Time.

It's been almost a month and what happened? The rage? I still have it tho but what about those protests? Those angry public protests?? What happened??? Where did people go? Did you forget this doctor who was just saving lives and how her life was taken? What's the police doing? Why is there no update to this case? Have there been any new amendments to the safety of women? What about the doctor's parents?? Did they get the justice they deserve?? What happened??? What about all these things?? And what happened to the criminal who was arrested????

And the audacity of those people posting such bullshit on online platforms makes me really wonder if those kinds of people have no shame at all. Like what the actual hell are you even saying?? "She wasn't that pretty tho, what happened to the guys?" Are you even in your senses???? She's dead, and this is what you say about the dead??? Not only say but post memes about it????? Are you out of your minds? Why not post about men?? And how DISGUSTING they are and how you need to teach men to be in control when they are drunk??? Or just post about not drinking alcohol at all???? Or teaching men how to treat women in public and in the houses???? You post memes about the most horrific event, is human life a joke to you???? Why are you not posting anything about men doing just horrific things to women who don't deserve it???? Why???

When I heard about all the statements about this case, I was so shocked to the point when I was almost about to tear up, my eyes all wet, my hands not knowing whether to stop listening or knowing the whole truth, my whole body disgusted, my arms and legs getting goosebumps. Let me say this, she did not deserve such a horrible death. She deserves justice. And most importantly women's safety needs to be taken seriously. And men need to be taught how to behave with a woman who they know and who they don't know in public and in private. Men need to be taught how to keep their lust and their need in control. Men need to be taught to not hit their wives. Men need to be taught some serious manners. Men need to be taught how not to do such horrible things to a random woman or even to their own wives. India has to work on the way the police and their way of handling cases like these cases. India has to work on how the politics work here.

I hate all this, so so much.

I haven't watched Copola's version of Dracula but I have the old adaptation, in black and white and I liked the aesthetic tho the story telling is quite poor. I also saw a musical adaptation of the book where Lucy is portrayed as this vain and manipulating lusting woman who falls into Dracula's arms willingly. I also have this vision that is commonly known as : Lucy was a player and had to be killed again after she gave herself to the sexy devil

But this version of re:Dracula??? My lord, how sweet and tragic Lucy's life is. How traumatised and violated she gets... My heart skipped a beat, hearing her wake up and realise what had happened. And when the last letter Mina sent her is marked as "unread by Lucy". My guys I'm on the floor.

Vicki Vale had been in another major scandal recently, and her ingenious employers decided she needed to be out of Gotham while the heat cools down.

She thought this was going to be a nothing burger, investigating some billionaire who decided to became mayor of some small, middle of nowhere town for, “public pride” or whatever.

That was until an unknown child-hero saved her, than made her day.

I think depictions of Anya being cruel to Curly or drawing out his suffering are artful and chilling but completely miss the point of the story and her character.

I'm not saying she doesn't deserve to have that "I told you so" moment with him but not in something callous or cold. Even if that is how it happened, she'd immediately feel guilty cause at that point she's not tormenting her tormenter or even the person truly at fault. She's doing something cathartic, similar to how Jimmy likely hits Curly to release rage he can't against the rest of the crew. She'd see herself as no different when she'd come back from the moment and see Curly cowering at her. She wants someone to take responsibility but how does being cruel to the defenseless help? Why would she want the power Jimmy has over her over Curly?

The idea of her extending someone else's pain is just so against the struggles she already faces and how she can't even bring herself to cause someone pain even to help them. Her very desire is to release herself from her own suffering and I doubt she'd even fine some sort of guilty release in being cruel to another.

There are no more heroes.

Well, okay. Rewind a bit.

Danny has been doing the hero thing for a while now. He’s had a big reveal; everyone has accepted him (including his parents), the GIW disbanded, the Anti-Ecto acts repealed, and generally, everything is going great. Some of the A-Listers are even training as junior ghost hunters to help give him a break from his rogues! (Being Ghost King makes things hectic sometimes, and he just needs the extra help. Sue him!)

The point is, literally nothing is wrong with Danny Phantom’s afterlife.

And then Valerie Gray, the Red Huntress, disappears in front of his eyes.

Danny is baffled! She’s just…gone! Valerie just popped out of existence, like she was never there. But no matter how hard he searches in the Ghost Zone, he can’t find her soul anywhere. His core isn't broken in grief. So she’s not dead. Which is good. So then, where is she?

Some of the others come forward with ideas on how to find her. A few ghosts volunteer to go out into the mortal realm, an area Danny had declared off-limits, to see if she was out there. Danny approves it. He rounds up some of the friendlier (i.e., discreet) ghosts and Amity Parkers and demolishes the outside travel ban.

So everyone spreads out, looking for their dear frenemy and teammate. But it becomes apparent very quickly that something is wrong with the rest of the world.

There are no more heroes.

Every single living superhero on the face of the Earth has just…vanished. Villains are running amok; the countries are in chaos! Some aliens are invading Earth, mythical deities are trying to take over, and society is crumbling to the ground. Everything is on the brink of collapse.

Well, Danny was still there. And so were his people. They were pretty spread out, so could they just…take up the mantles? He also knew where to find the souls of dead heroes in the Zone; surely they wouldn't mind coming out of retirement for a little bit, especially if they couldn't die again. Oh! And that skeleton army leftover from Pariah Dark's reign might be useful in repelling those invading forces.

Honestly, there were more than enough hands to go around! And with the heroes gone, Danny didn't mind letting everyone out for a little break, as long as they followed his rules. They wouldn't stop the search for the other heroes, but hopefully, when they found them, the heroes wouldn't mind Danny's intervention too much. :)

In other words:

Someone fucks up, and all of Earth's living heroes are either wished out of existence or are whisked away to some far-off realm where Danny hasn't checked yet. In the attempt to figure out what's going on, Danny lets the dead run amok over the Earth as they search for clues. The skeleton army repels the invading armies, the souls of dead heroes deal with the world leaders, and his rogues and other Amity Parkers set up shop in place of famous heroes, trying to get the cities under control again.

Basically, they just do their best to keep everything from imploding until the Justice League and others are back.

(And why is it that Danny hasn't disappeared? Well, whatever caused everyone to go poof! only affected living heroes. Anyone heroes that were dead in the first place, or even just half-dead, stayed behind.)

A flower, clutched and crushing in her hands, the blue-white staining and eating her fingertips— a cyanotype. She gazes across the battlefield. She sneaks into the bedchambers of a beloved she kept too close, kept too far. 

Karna stands in replaced positions. A Colin sized position. An Ariana sized position.

Her heart skips a beat as she skims over Deli’s haphazardly hidden notes. She finds motes of anger, of resentment, of despair and heartbreak at the corners of rapid heartbeats. She pulls and tugs at them, rearranging herself. Presentable. Useful. Disposable. 

She slides her note underneath the pillows of Delissandro Katzon’s bed. A quiet confession. A hopeful confession. She must survive.

She is dying, she is a child, she is in love. She hopes and she fears as tears crawl down her face and the rot eats her body. She knows the ways of war and the smell of murder better than the scent of a well prepared meal in the comforts of home. She knows the quick breath of death and the slow of a pulse better than the warmth of a family and the embrace of a lover. “She died nine years ago”.

At the bottom of the earth, in the embrace of Heart of the World, her story ends in a realm unknown to the rest. All the fighting to survive, the lies and the murder, the whispering of secret secrets and the blood dripping from the end of a blade. It all comes to a rest. Karna gives in to her exhaustion with an exhale (exhale, exhale). Eyes closed and a prayer to no god. A Hunger greets this tired warrior.

Cold steel rips apart her torn body. She dies and no one will mourn her. She dies and no mother, no sister, no lover will leave flowers by her gravestone, no eulogies sung, an insignificant name. 

She dies and she looks at the face of her lover. A letter remains underneath his pillows. Will he mourn for her?

“The only secret I have left, is that I love you” and in a title that was never made for her— “Signed, Sklad Karna Solara of Scoville”.

The Pawn resigns.
