male undertale fans really saw a female character who couldn't be reduced down to "mother" or "girlboss" and immediately started hating her

Shes choking here mind you, she's being choked, you can literally hear it, air being almost impossible to breathe in, yet she STILL reaches out for Elora, screaming for her and trying to get to her, she's not scared for herself at this moment. She just didn't want to lose her close friend.
Do you know how painful it is to scream without having enough air in your lungs?? You can hear the raw, brutal and burn of her voice.
and y'all were a little too quick to judge on why Mel slammed "kino"s face into the wall. No she's not becoming violent, the foe killed her brother and Elora, that's the least insane thing she could do at that moment.
And this poor woman hello??? I'm still not over all these frames.

The fact that she was panicked from DRIPPING WATER just makes me wonder how painful it really was, the torture she'd been through this entire episode was insane. I'm surprised we haven't seen her bruise or bleed at all throughout the entire season, makes me wonder if she has healing abilities.
What kills me the most is that even after being hurt both emotionally AND physically, she still thinks of others rather than herself, she only ever started worrying after she woke up, she was scared, panicking, yet she never speaks of her pains, she was upset over the death of Elora. That's all she thought of, not the horrors of being grabbed, but the horrors of being unable to move and do anything within her abilities to save her friend.
She'd always been like this, ever since the death of that unnamed girl that hangs over her head, death haunts her, that's the price of having been blessed by kindred apparently.
ALSO; I apologize for anyone who'd sent me asks, I've been really busy and ill try my best to get to them as soon as I can ♡

Byler quote of the day:
Mike: *To El* Are you deaf? I thought we were friends, you know? But friends tell each other the truth. And they definitely don't lie to each other. You made me think Will was okay, that he was still out there, but he wasn't. He wasn't! Maybe you thought you were helping, but you weren't. You hurt me. Do you understand? What you did sucks. Lucas was right about you. All along.
*A mere few seconds later, after El channeled Will on the radio.*
Mike: Was that... Was it...
El: Will.
(I think people forget how much Mike's opinion about El depended on her ability to find Will in season 1. When he thought Will was dead, he insinuates that they're not friends anymore, and that Lucas was right, they should have left her to get sent back to where ever she came from. He only flipped back when he realized Will was still alive, and that she was still of use to them. His opinion of her is so malleable, even later on in the show, when he actually starts to see her as a person. He flip-flops so much, and when you really start to think about it, there isn't much that El does that he agrees with. They have different interests, and don't respect each other much. The common theme in season 1 is that Mike keeps El around to help Will. And that stays more subtly throughout the rest of the seasons.)
(Also, a little post editing note: I do realize in this scene, he just found out his best friend was dead (to his knowledge). It makes sense that he would lash out on her, because he's grieving. This isn't the only scene where this happens, though, and that's the point I'm trying to make.)

Nesta didn’t bat an eyelash as she studied the handsome features, the muscled torso. Then turned to me. Dismissing him entirely. Cassian’s face went almost feral. A wolf who had been circling a doe … only to find a mountain cat wearing its hide instead.
Ok, I just keep thinking about how Cassian's fragile ego was wounded here but this would've been a COMPLETE turn-on for Lucien and Eris. I mean, remember this?
Lucien sighed as he looked me over. “Do you ever stop being so serious and dull?” “Do you ever stop being such a prick?” I snapped back. Dead—really, truly, I should have been dead for that. But Lucien grinned at me. “Much better.” Homeboy LOVES that shit. Makes sense that he was Nesta's mate first. As for Eris: Nesta met the male’s stare. She said nothing, letting cool contempt freeze over her gaze. Eris’s mouth quirked upward.
I just think my girl deserved a Vanserra brother.

The name’s Cait which is short for CaitWIN:
Zaunites: stabilized
Chen barons: eliminated
Noxians: defeated
Girlfriend: domesticated
Terrorist: banned, no execution cost expended
Eye: sexy
Ex: assasinated
Matilda: manifested
That’s a CaitWIN for the history books

The number of fans I've seen turn their back on Kataras's character due to the Southern Raiders episode is astonishing and incredibly painful. In fact, it makes me wonder how people cannot consume media critically when the objective of the show is to create nuanced and well-rounded characters that almost reflect normal human beings like you and me. However, when a character who is usually good and who is usually nice and good exudes negative emotions and quite valid ones. How would you feel if you found your mother's murder? Enraged and upset and if you have the power that Katara has I feel that many of us would use it. However, I seen many fans get on a moral high horse and absolutely turn her back on her even after this episode was done. I understand that people are upset at the "you didn't love her as much as I did." Quote said by her to her brother. However, I want you to think about one thing. Imagine being the reason why your mother was killed. You were the one who was supposed to die that night. But your mother replaced your fate. Katara will always love her mother differently because her mother gave her life twice: once when she was born and the other where she protected her daughter by lying that she was the last water bender. She feels guilty for her mother's death. I've seen so many people permanently hate her character after this episode and it feels like people cannot generally understand a well rounded character. I feel that many people tend to coddle the other characters and their trauma, but when it comes to Katara people simply just don't care. Everyone decides to play the trauma olympics , with all of the characters , without understanding that they're all incredibly traumatized and comparing trauma does not help anyone's mental health. But for her it's a complete joke. There's memes and people laugh. In fact, whenever she does bring up her mother It is meant to help others and to be able to help bring comfort to their pain. She doesn't do it out of the luxury of grieving for herself.

Why's it when Miles accidentally pulls half of Gwen's hair out it's funny cuz he didn't do it on purpose which is the truth but when she opens the packaging of his toy she should burn in hell even though she didn't get the idea why he kept it in the box and wouldn't do it if she knew what was the reason????

So lately I’ve been thinking about how, out of all the main OUAT characters, the one the writers did the dirtiest was probably Belle. And it hit me that pretty much every single Belle focus episode boils down to this:
Belle wants to do a thing
Someone (usually her dad or Rumple) tells her not to do the thing because they don’t think she can handle it
She does the thing, succeeds at it, and comes home like “Look, I did the thing and no one died!”
This does nothing to change the opinion of whoever told her not to do the thing. Come next episode she’s still being treated like a helpless child who can’t do anything right. It’s SO annoying jfc. My girl deserves better.
Edit: After posting this, I realized it’s the anniversary of Skin Deep’s premiere. So this makes two times this year that I’ve been thinking about something on its anniversary without realizing. That’s creepy.
