It’s funny how the world can change in a moment. You’ve been preparing for this – nine months, in fact. Growing, stretching, nesting, learning. But even with a timeline set, nothing readies you for the moment of the birth of your child.

How it took longer than a second for your son to cry. How the doctor’s had to unwrap the umbilical cord from around his neck, lips tinted blue. How rough, calloused fingers wiped the sweat and tears from your face when that broken, desperate cry finally pierced the air. A watery grin mirroring your own when your brand new baby boy is placed on your chest.

He’s perfect. Ten fingers, ten toes. Two big gorgeous eyes that are closed as he sleeps. You should be sleeping too, seventeen hours of labor have exhausted you. But the sight before you keeps you watching, knowing that your dreams cannot compete.

Izuku sits in the chair next to you, your babe wrapped up in a blanket, cradled in his father’s grasp. He looks so tiny when held by him, you can’t help the soft smile that pulls at your mouth. Izuku’s whispering, and you can’t tell if it’s because he thinks you're sleeping or if he wants to have this small moment with your son.

It’s a moment you’ve been dreaming about since you told him you were pregnant. He always carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. But this, this small little piece of you and him, it’s his whole entire world. Your son lets out a small sigh and Izuku’s laugh pulls you to the present.

“You’ve had a big day,” your husband says, tracing over the tiny baby's nose. “It must be so exhausting being brought into a new world outside of your mama. But you know, your mama had a big day too. She's my hero.”

Mossy green eyes meet yours, and you can’t stop the tears from falling. A weak laugh leaves you, your arm reaching out and wiggling your fingers. Izuku stands to walk over and sit next to you on the bed. Your head rests against his shoulder, gaze on the baby that looks just like him.

“Have I told you how amazing you are?”

“Only once or twice.”

His lips brush the top of your head. For the first time in months you feel completely relaxed. You know there are long nights ahead, but you’re ready for them. It’s all a fleeting moment, much like this one, that’ll be a memory longer than a living moment.

I know I’ve said this a few times, but I really do find it amazing how people can find a connection with Usopp on a personal level. It’s truly amazing. It’s like a hug.

I was talking to my mother the other day about Usopp because she asked about what he’s been doing in recent events (Egghead). I proceeded to tell her all about it, and ramble a mile a minute. In my zone. Like I’m giving a TedTalks about him 😅

I was talking to her about Usopp’s backstory and I mentioned how the fandom perceives it as idyllic and not as traumatic as his comrades. But she said that Usopp’s backstory is one that a lot of people can relate to. It’s realistic and easy to connect with. And something on a very human level. Losing a parent and having to go at it alone, in everyday human life…that’s definitely traumatic. And yes, this is supposed to be a positive Usopp post. Just let me finish my point.

What I liked about my mother’s words was that she sounded like my fellow Usopp fans who defend this point constantly. She didn’t have to be on the internet to understand this point. She doesn’t go on the internet at all. Seriously. This isn’t the only time she’s sounded like a true fan without any qualms. Verbatim.

She 100 percent believes in the cause.

So, happy Mother’s Day to Mom’s who listen to their child ramble on about something they wholeheartedly love.
