IMAGINE THIS (This is a peter hayes x fem! reader)
Peter Hayes didn’t have many friends. He had a smart mouth and constantly chose what benefited him more because he felt as though the only person he could trust in the world was himself. His words are a big protective wall around him making sure he will never be hurt. When he was younger he often got scolded for how he acted and not many (good) people wanted to hang out with him in Candor.
There was one girl who walked around Candor and was quite the chatterbox. Except in her case she was spreading happiness. Peter thought she was just a really good liar and sold it well to leaders in Candor society. That was until one day when he was 13 this girl and he were forced to spend the day together. Their parents were good friends and they thought that she would be a good influence on him. He realized that she wasn’t fake but rather did see the good in everyone. He developed a boy crush on her and often followed her like a lost puppy. Her kindness started to rub off on him and up until the test he was a little less of an ass.
The night before the test he couldn’t sleep. It was not that he was nervous but because he and the girl were too different to be placed in the same faction. All night he tossed and turned in his bed knowing that tomorrow would be the last day they would be able to talk freely to each other.
The day of the exam he cut in line to stand with her. She was nervous because she was worried about what she’d be sorted into, He was nervous because he worried if she would be safe wherever they told her to go.
So the decision comes and he watches as her blood drips into the Amity bowl. He felt a little relief knowing that she’d be in one of the safer factions. To ensure she’ll be safe he joins Dauntless. He chooses this in hopes that if he can protect the fence, he can protect her.
As they part ways and time goes on the influence she had on him starts to fade. He goes back to spitting his harsh words and doing what benefits him. She still lives in the back of his mind. How could she not? She’s the reason he went along with it. He chooses the smarter and less reckless path like she would (even if it’s still reckless). Every night he thought if she was doing okay with her new life.
When he flees with Tris, Four, and Caleb he feels almost giddy because he knows he’ll be able to see her soon. But then these thoughts turn negative and he wonders if she’ll even still be alive. What if she slipped up really bad and got kicked out or what if she got lost while exploring (one thing they often did together) and someone captured her or what if she doesn’t remember him or what if…
All of these thoughts fade away when he sees that familiar face in the crowd. He has to resist running up to her and trapping her in a forever-lasting hug. Instead of doing what he wished to do, he just stood there locking eyes with her. The voices of Johanna and Four fade into the background. That was until Caleb bumbed him back into reality telling him to follow them to where they planned on staying.
The cabin was small and on the outskirts of town. It was 1 room acting as many. There was a kitchen in the corner and two beds on the opposing side. One bed for him and the other for Caleb.
“I’m heading to the infirmary if you want to come.” Caleb offers.
“okay” Peter didn’t know what to say, He just wanted to see Y/N.
The walk was short and quiet. Peter hadn’t noticed his pain until now. This whole time his mind has been too busy to really care.
As he enters the building he’s surprised but also not surprised to see Y/N taking care of a child in the corner. Peter spent many years with her and she was always kind so a job like this was perfect for her. It didn’t look like the child had a serious injury but there was a cloth wrapped around their ankle.
“Sir, you can have a seat on any unoccupied bed” A man told Peter. He just nodded and chose one closest to where Y/N was working.
“I didn’t think I would see you again,” Y/N says without looking. She was busy checking the kid for anymore injuries.
“I could say the same thing” There’s the slightest hint of sadness, or maybe it’s longing, in his voice.
Y/N turns around at that with a smile that seems to never escape her face, but it soon drops as she sees the wound in his arm. She rushes over and sits down next to him. Y/N looks into his eyes asking for permission and receives a small nod. She gently grabs his arm and moves closer.
“How did you get this?” Y/N asks.
“Tris” He simply states but realizes that Y/N has no idea who that is “She’s the girl over there with big muscle man”
“Replacing me so soon?” Y/N banters with a small breathy laugh as she digs in a drawer next to the bed for supplies.
“No one can replace you.”
—
Should I finish?
Peter is the type to have a soft spot for that one special person.

one chance + fenix 👀
4. once chance characters: fenix hayes, vesper moxley (timeline here is set during their first weird moments together, my most precious) words: 3.923 warnings: blood, violence, death, subtle gore (i’m feeling like that video of tom hardy saying sex violence murder violence gambling greed lechery and then throwing a stick while listing this) nothing too intense but you know, also clownery.
“You have one chance to survive this, cowboy.” The man suggested as he was circling Fenix’s slumped form sitting on one of the most uncomfortable metal chairs he ever had the displeasure to sit on. He held a knife in his hands, the blade short, and kept intimidatingly playing with it. He crunched down enough to enter Fenix’s dizzy vision, a cut just above his brow making blood pour right over his left, barely open, eye. The cold flat side of the blade suddenly was placed just below his chin and got pushed slightly, just enough to lift his head. “And that’s just right in front of you.” Two pair of eyes – aside from the ones of the squalid gang surrounding them – fixed on the tall woman staring at the scene, lips pressed tight in disgusts and arms tightly crossed over her chest. “Ain’t that right, miss V?”
Fenix twisted his wrists, skin scraping against the rough material holding them together and preventing any movement; the only thought circling his mind was how bad he wanted to smash his fists against that bald tattooed head he grew so tired to see rotating around him. The knife left his chin and his head came falling forward once again, the weapon now found its place right above the open, burning wound on his thigh. “You should be grateful I’m giving you this opportunity, I could just kill you right here and now.” The metallic tip sank into the exposed flesh: leg instantly went rigid and a painful sound was muted by the fabric preventing him to speak, teeth clenching tightly into it.
“Cut the bullshit.” Vesper’s voice boomed in the empty factory; if worry was clouding her mind, then she was doing a great job at hiding it. “Tell me what I need to do.”
The man straightened up and a dry laugh followed, the knife now pointing at her as he dramatically got closer as slow as possible. “You know, I like you.” Accent was thick but Vesper couldn’t recognize the provenance. “I’m sorry you had to get mixed up in this mess but maybe, if you survive, you will learn to choose your company a little bit better.” His smile was squalid, making her nose scrunch up in disgust at the proximity. The cyber-jaw, the dragons tattooed right on his head, even his small rat-like eyes should’ve rang a bell – it’s not easy to forget a face like that – but nothing clicked into Vesper’s head, she had no idea why this guy had them kidnapped and let his goons beat Fenix nearly senseless. One of his many fuck ups, probably.
“Drop the fucking act, I don’t even know what’s going on or who are you. And I don’t fucking care too.” She glared at the man as his features twisted into yet another smile. He turned on his heels and looked back at Fenix.
“Your – what word should I use – your choom here, stole something very valuable from me. This is payback, if you’d like to call it that.” Fenix laughed, the sound unclear but the mocking intention extremely distinct. “You find this funny?” Eyes narrowed, as the tied man once again said something that couldn’t be deciphered. “Get that thing off his mouth, for fuck’s sake.” He barked out the order, clearly pissed at the smugness that someone in this position shouldn’t have.
One of his thugs quickly pushed the cloth from Fenix’s mouth: as soon as the freedom was regained, Fenix crunched forward, probably in pain, and spit out blood right on the floor before speaking.
“Well fuck me sideways, if you wanted a date you could’ve just asked. It’s a bit too crowded too for my tastes.” Vesper rolled her eyes at the comment: why can’t he never shut up? In fact, consequences followed immediately, his laugh got cut short when a fist crushed against his face making more blood escape his lips.
“You think this is some kind of fucking joke?” The boss bared his teeth, face starting to turn red.
“This circus ain’t missing the clown so maybe.” Another blow, this time aimed right to his stomach, making him choke and gasp for air. And nearly show to the world what his dinner was about.
“Fenix, shut up. Christ.” Vesper commanded, exasperation evident in her tone as he kept making the situation messier. He offered back a smirk and actually stayed quiet, letting his head fall against the wall behind him.
“Finally, someone with common sense in this god forsaken city!” Vesper grimaced at the exclamation, she didn’t wish for her words to be mistaken as anything else other than a desperate attempt at avoiding any more physical pain for her friend – wait, was he a friend now? A colleague maybe? A nuisance at best. “Enough chatter. Let’s get straight to the point. Give her the gun.” The dragon-man gestured to one of his subordinates and a firearm was unfastened from the holster and presented right in front of Vesper’s face. She looked at it with scepticism but immediately picked it up: a too foolish move giving her a gun so easily, that could only mean that something was up. “Don’t look so excited, there’s only one bullet in there. Enough to get the job done.” Next, a second thug throwed him what looked like an apple and he walked right back to the so-called thief; Fenix shut his eyes and let out a raspy laugh as realization hit him, the situation couldn’t turn more surreal than this.
“Fucking hell, you’re out of your mind.” A ringed backhand smashed against his face, aiming to stop the mocking laugh but achieving it only for a few seconds.
“You dumb cowboy bitch. Be grateful for this and be sure to put up a good show for us.” He gave a few playful smacks to the same area he just hit, skin slightly teared apart by the gold rings. “And stay put if you don’t want to lose your head.” He slapped a hand on Fenix’s shoulders and turned to look at Vesper. “Now, let’s try a test of marksmanship. Like we are in one of the knights stories our acquaintance loves so much.” He sank his teeth in the apple he was holding and then placed the fruit right on top of the blonde’s head. “Shoot the apple and the both of you are free. Fail and I will zero both. If you accidentally flatline the bastard yourself…well, we’ll see. Might offer you a job then.”
“Man, you are fucking insane. Did you watch some kind of movie like this lately or something?” Vesper responded plainly and Fenix let out a hard scoff at the words, the red fruit already dangerously threating to fall off his head. Asking for a normal day was too much, could she at least ask for a normal kidnapping?
“Again, please consider this as a sign of my never-ending mercy. And don’t get weird ideas, let me repeat: it’s one bullet, if you do something funny you will die.” As the words were uttered an unmistakable sound reached Vesper’s ears, she didn’t have to turn around to see the pistol pointing at her head.
“You can shoot me down yourself right here and now then, the little fighter here is a pro at throwing punches but those eyes of hers…Guess they just don’t work that well.” Fenix’s tone was arrogant; confidence never left this man, not even in the worst situation. “Although beautiful, of course.” His gaze focused on her, a smirk plastered over his face as they shared a look.
“Yeah right, if you want me to shoot him dead just say it so we can avoid the pity show. There’s no way I’m gonna succeed here.” Vesper reasoned, her gaze leaving Fenix’s just for few minutes, just enough to stare dead in the eye their captor. She didn’t plan to mock or trick him, that was just plain truth: guess all the hits and the blood and the injuries of working in her field did wonders her vision. Oddly, neither her nor Fenix seemed too fazed by it, like the risk of killing him wasn’t there.
“You two are going to make me lose my damn mind.” The man touched his metallic jaw and let out an exasperated sigh. “Just do what I told you and make us have some fun.” He nearly shouted, patience easily slipping from his hands.
Vesper complied and got into position, gun pointing right at her sitting target. Gaze focused but her vision decided to not cooperate as the outline of the man – and her real, red target – were blurry; the darkness engulfing the room didn’t help in her task. Fenix sat as still as possible and gave a slow wink with the only eye that he could still keep open to the armed woman he grew to trust so blindly. He had no reason to do so, as they were not friends but surely neither strangers, yet he felt confident letting his life lay in her hands. Trust was a funny thing to him, mysterious too.
Immediately, Vesper pulled the trigger and that single bullet went crushing just behind the wall, missing completely the target. The shot so close to Fenix’s face he swore he lost his right ear for a moment; he jumped on the chair at the booming sound of the gun, breath laboured and eyes wide open as he stared first at the hole in the concrete and then ahead, the red fruit that was sitting on his head had now tumbled down on the floor. Holy fuck, he muttered, startled.
Lips tightly pressed together in annoyance, Vesper kept looking straight ahead as if trying to locate where her bullet went flying. Her audience was laughing loudly at the pathetic performance, the one that offered the challenge even clapping his hands sarcastically. Failure is such a hard pill to swallow.
Whatever then, she thought. As her opponents were too busy deriding her, Vesper jumped at the glimpse of a chance, taking advantage of their distraction: turning to her side and roughly clutching the arm of the man holding her at gunpoint, she twisted it and slammed the barrel of the gun on his temple – once, twice – with as much force as possible and left the guy fall to the ground.
Laughter was cut short immediately, yelling took its place. Fenix leapt on his feet as everyone else turned to look at Vesper and he attacked the first man on his left; hands still tied he opted for the oldest technique known on the world. His knee went crushing against the groin of the clueless enemy, too preoccupied by the scene unfolding a few steps ahead, making him fall to the ground. Fenix lunged for his next target but his attack got cut off quickly as the man turned instantly and pummelled him to the ground.
Meanwhile, Vesper was already on her next rival. Dodging the hit aimed to her ribs, she exploited the low defence and struck the opponent to the jaw, repeated hits with her right hook until she made the woman stagger backwards and then slammed her foot against her knee, making it twist unnaturally and forcing the enemy to the ground with an ear-piercing scream. Before she could register the presence, a second henchman gripped her hair – hands flying to the source of the aching pain on her scalp – and dragged her away from the body of his colleague. The boss was screaming something but Vesper didn’t quite catch it, an armed figure showed up in her vision, ready to aim and shoot at her. She had to act quickly, keep on moving: fighting the pain she smashed her elbow into the face of the man holding her until his nose cracked, blood dripping from it. The grasp loosened and Vesper finally could escape from it. The woman holding the gun was now pointing directly at her, her fingers pulled the trigger repeatedly but the bullets planted themselves into the back of the broken-nosed man as Vesper shoved him forcefully against her, effectively taking him down.
The enemy that pushed Fenix to the ground was now standing right above him, hands tightly wrapped around his throat, slowly preventing air from reaching his lungs. Hands roamed frantically trying to find something, anything, to fight back, job twice as difficult as his wrists were still tied together. Fingers found the hilt of a knife strapped to the waist of the criminal, grabbed it hard and unsheathed the weapon, planting the blade into the man’s shoulder. Ache and blood spread from the wound and Fenix could now switch their position, shoving the bleeding foe on his back and placing his weight on top of him; his thumbs forced their way into the eyes of his victim, pressing and tearing their way into the organs until blood started pouring and the screams became more terrifying. The hopeless man tried to fight back, hands struggling to reach their way to Fenix’s face and reserve to his eyes the same treatment in a desperate attempt at saving himself. Fenix wasn’t scared to use his teeth too: canines sank into the man’s fingers, biting as hard as possible; hair fell right above his eyes and blood painted his hands and face. The battle reached its end when the now blinded man couldn’t keep on fighting anymore.
Only one last target was standing against Vesper. Charging forward, her aim was disarming the woman before she could fire her gun again. Distracted by the lifeless body of her companion falling in front of her eyes, the woman dulled reflex didn’t react on time as Vesper used that perfect opportunity to grip the arm holding the gun and forcing to drop it. Reprisal was immediate, as the firearm fell to the ground a sharp knife was now gripped into her other hand and swinging towards Vesper, effectively slashing the flesh of her stomach. Vesper clenched her teeth hard and hissed, letting the grip on the enemy’s arm go in favour of pressing her hand against the wound.
Vesper’s last memory of the woman was her wicked grin as a firing sound boomed and her adversary fell to the ground, lifeless. Her eyes searched the room and immediately found the culprit: Fenix lowered the gun he was holding with both hands, hair messed up and blood stains scattered all over his clothes, breathing was ragged and his posture slumped by the pain. Vesper let her body fall to the ground, tired from the fighting, fingers fumbling along the open cut over her stomach. It wasn’t that deep to be cause of worry, but not so insignificant to not sting and burn.
Fenix moved closer to her and dropped to his knees, offering her his wrists, gun left lying between his thighs. “Cut these open, please.” He requested, words alternated by a groan and a grunting. She tentatively searched the body standing horizontal on the ground, just next to her, and found that same knife that cut open her flesh just minutes ago; the blade still coated with blood cut through the thick ropes and finally gifted freedom to his hands. The flesh was bright red and stinged but Fenix let out a relived breath nonetheless; articulations cracked as he tried to move his hands, pain was coursing through his wrists: probably a sprain, he realized, nothing to worry too much about. He got back on his feet again and picked again the firearm while doing so, never felt congeniality for unfinished business. Vesper instinctively followed him, adrenaline was still fighting the fatigue and winning.
There he was, the man that threatened them for the past hour and a half, now lying on the dirty ground, body shaking in shock as the gunshot wound in his leg kept sprouting blood. Vesper didn’t recall another firing sound before the one aimed at her assailant.
“I’m a merciful man.” Fenix began; tilting open the cylinder of the revolver he checked how many bullets it still held. “Very merciful.” He repeated before firing the gun into the bald man’s leg, the one that wasn’t bleeding. Yet. “That’s why I’m gonna kill you now instead of having you rot in your own blood.” The cries of agony and panic as the bullet got stuck into his bone stopped shortly after as three other shots into his chest cut the life out of him. The glacial look in Fenix’s gaze didn’t disappear as he pulled the trigger a fifth time, yet no ammo was left. “Shame.” He dropped the gun to the floor and let his palm stroke his forehead, fatigue clear not only on his face but all over his beaten body. Just one last effort. “Help me get the body to the car?” He asked to Vesper, thumb pointing to the vehicle just outside the shabby dark factory. Clearly the previous owner would never reclaim it again.
Vesper nodded, uttering no word, and just accepted to drag the body as he asked, no idea what he needed it for. They lifted the dead weight – quite literal – from the ground with a grunt and slowly made their way through the other bodies. The car trunk was the most obvious spot to hide a dead man and so they squished the unmoving limbs into the tight space and shut down the door.
“Hop in.” Fenix offered, keys dangling from his fingers: yet another stolen belonging, as in life so in death they say. Vesper didn’t need to hear it twice. “Everything’s fine?” He asked as soon as they sat inside the car – the seats incredibly soft after that lively night – his gaze examining the wound over her stomach and the blood coating it, before glancing back to her eyes.
“Yeah, nothing concerning. Are you okay?” The question felt almost hilarious as the next thing Fenix did was clean, in the best way he could, the dried blood on his face and hands with his own shirt.
“Like I just did a rose bath or something.” He smirked, of course he would do that. He stripped from the dirty piece of clothing and throwed it to the backseats of the car, now only sporting a tank top that wasn’t completely spared from the bloody events. Finally the engine turned to life with a roar and they could leave that cursed place. “Want me to drop you at home or wanna go drink something? Drinks are on me, of course.” He offered.
Vesper turned to look at him, eyes were fixed on the road but he certainly was aware of being stared at. Something within her would’ve loved to ask whatever the fuck all of this was about, but the exhaustion was way too powerful and she opted to pay no mind to the bizarre events.
“I have stuff to drink at home too.” She remarked and regretted it immediately after, unsure why she would say something like that. “Don’t really need a bar for that.” Biting her lips, she tried to avoid any more words escaping her mouth.
“True. But you would be missing my charming company then.” Fenix flashed a smile, just for a few seconds, and looked at her: their gaze met before Vesper turned to look ahead. She made no effort to reply to the teasing affirmations, better avoiding other regrets.
Sliding down the car window, she let the chill night air brush her face, like a gentle caress that could sting too, if it desired to do so. Closing her eyes she swore she could’ve just fell asleep right there and then.
“Hey so, did you really try to shoot that damn thing off my head there?” The peaceful silence was broken not long after Vesper contemplated a well-deserved nap; her eyes cracked open at the sound of his voice. “Thought you were just playing along.”
Her first reply was a pensive hum, like she was pondering which answer to offer first. “I like challenges. Guess I’m really as blind as a mole.”
“So, you nearly put a bullet in my skull for shit and giggles?” He reasoned as he sped up the car.
“Yes.” Vesper smiled at her own unfazed reply and glanced at Fenix with the tail of her eye, just enough to see the mixture of amusement and shock on his face: maybe he shouldn’t have found the revelation humorous or hot, but sometimes emotions work on their own.
The rest of the ride was silent, only interrupted a few times by Fenix’s “what?” and Vesper’s “nothing” as she stared intently at him and he noticed every single time. The neon city lights danced on both beaten figures in a kaleidoscope of colours, now turning from red to blue to purple and so on. The silence felt comfortable and soothing, neither felt the need to fill it with useless chatter – perhaps Vesper was enjoying far too much the rumble of the engine and the spectacle of Fenix’s profile, and perhaps Fenix loved way too much being admired like that.
As the car stopped right in front of her apartment, Vesper felt like the veil of magic that was coating the moment got mercilessly teared. A real shame that ride couldn’t last forever.
“So, here we are.” Fenix stated the obvious – was that out of tension? – as he turned slightly towards her with a soft groan; pain still present through his body, he was only ignoring it.
“Right.” That exact same silence came back chasing the pair, this time overflowing with apprehension. Vesper glanced rapidly to the silhouette of her house, but her legs refused to leave just yet.
“Well, guess I’ll need to go drop that package to my contact now.” He recalled the lifeless body that was leisurely ‘resting’ in the back of the car, the thought of finally making some good eddies appear on his account made the night’s effort almost bearable. The statement, though, was just a way to fill the taciturn air with something else, anything else. Even talking about a dead man.
“What, you are some kind of bounty hunter?” She asked, turning to look at him.
“It’s difficult. Guess we could s–“ Fenix explanation got cut short as Vesper finally found the courage to kiss him, desire burning for hours now. Her hands wrapped around his face, her intent was to hold him gently but her thoughts derailed quite easily. Fenix accepted the touch with unconcealable surprise and pleasure, maybe he wished to do that for so long that night that reality felt more like a dream now. Vesper deepened their kiss; she thought yielding to longing would quench the burning, yet it only got worse, like an unquenchable blaze.
She paused the kiss, intense breathing and pupils blown wide – she could taste that unmistakable iron-like flavour of blood on her lips now. “This doesn’t mean anything at all.” She declared, lips so close they almost brushed each other and met into another kiss.
“Sure. It doesn’t.” Fenix could feel her hot breath on his skin, the feeling almost intoxicating. He just wished for more and more.
“Right.” Vesper confirmed – just in case, she thought. “Are you gonna come upstairs?” As soon as the words were spoken, she swiftly felt the need to specify. “For that drink.” They still didn’t dare to part from each other, eyes jumping from eyes to lips in an infinite cycle.
“Yes, of course.” He cleared his throat. “That drink.”

Next Top Model
A/N: I had this idea and ran with it!
Warnings: mentions of sex
Pairing: Joel Farabee x fem!OC
Annalise had been dating Joel for about four months when he suggested bringing her along to a game. She wanted to go but knew that as she had a large online following and she would easily be spotted by someone who knew who she was. So, she opted to watch all the games he had played in so far either at her apartment or in the dressing room of a shoot she was taking part in.
Joel had been experiencing some teasing from the boys in the locker room relating to the fact that he hadn’t even told them her name, let alone that he had a girlfriend. Kevin was the first to put two and two together, Joel was coming to practice happier, leaving after a game earlier and had some scratch marks on his back. Travis and Carter just chirped him for getting laid more than once during a week, but Kevin knew better. It was the way that anyone would react to getting into a relationship. He asked Joel about it privately but he never admitted it. All Joel said was that he was happier at the moment and that was all. There was nothing to speculate about.
“Lads, look at this new photoshoot that some of the models around Philly did,” Carter announced to no one in particular and some of the guys walked over to see what he was showing them. Joel also walked over, even though he had already seen the photos as Annalise was one of the models. Kevin pushed Joel away, telling him to get lost as he already had a girl who was probably waiting at home for him after practice.
Gasps and wide eyes filled the dressing room and suddenly everyone had forgotten about the photoshoot Carter wanted to show everyone. Questions were being flung at the youngster from left, right and centre. Who was she? How old was she? How long had they been together? Was she the reason why it looked like his back had been attacked by a cat? Joel had to laugh at them, all he said about her was that they’d meet her when she was ready, not before.
The boys tried hard to try and accidentally meet her. Lads night at Joel’s? Everyone showed up an hour early, but alas, he was alone in his room. Joel was on a late-night FaceTime with someone? Travis had to accidentally barge into his room, pretending that he thought that Morgan was in there. It didn’t work either, turns out he was talking to his mother, not his girlfriend. Even a peek over his shoulder to see who Joel was texting on the bus didn’t give anything away as he wasn’t even texting her, he was texting one of his college friends. Eventually, the boys had given up and just accepted that he wanted to keep his relationship private to make sure he was comfortable and that they were both in it for the long haul.
“Joel,” Annalise called through his apartment, hoping he was the only one home.
“Yeah, Anna?” Joel replied as he rounded the corner, with a glass of water in his hand. He was shirtless, as he seemed to be every time she visited, and had a pair of his team USA sweats hanging low on his hips. Annalise could see every ridge of his body and could easily get distracted, but she came over for a reason.
“This is gonna sound like a stupid question, I should have just bought one like the other girls,” she groaned as Joel pulled her into a hug and pressed a few kisses to her hairline.
“Should have bought what?” Joel was confused now, what did she need to buy?
“Have you got a spare Farabee jersey I can wear to the game tonight?” She nuzzled her head into his chest, trying to hide the blush forming on her cheeks.
“That’s it?” he asked, not even sure if she could be serious. “If you want one of my jerseys, you don’t even need to ask, I’ve got loads in my wardrobe.” Joel pulled Annalise towards his bedroom and began rummaging through his many clothes. He chucked a few different Flyers jerseys with his name on the back onto his bed and allowed her to choose her favourite one.
“I think,” she started, “the alternate is the one I’m gonna wear tonight.” She emphasised tonight because she didn’t think that he had realised that she would be going to one of his games.
“Wait,” Joel stopped looking through his wardrobe and turned to face his girlfriend. He brought one of his hands up to caress the side of her face as he asked, “you’re coming tonight? Like, to the game?” Annalise nodded in confirmation and Joel picked her up, spinning her around a few times to show his excitement.
“Well, our agency wants us to attend some sports games. And they picked the Flyers game tonight to be our first one,” she explained. Joel couldn’t believe it, his girlfriend was coming to one of his games.
“As long as you meet me after the game, I’ll be happy,” Joel wiggled his eyebrows, clearly suggesting that he wanted the end of the night to go a certain way.
“Farabee, you’ve gotta work hard so you can play hard later,” Annalise chirped back with a wink. “I’ll see you after the game, yeah?” she cocked her head to the side, and Joel nodded. She rose onto her tiptoes and pressed a kiss to his lips. As she left, Joel sat down on his bed to take in the fact that his actual girlfriend was going to be at the Wells Fargo Center that night.
Joel walked into the dressing room to see Kevin looking over Carter’s shoulder at an Instagram post. Now, Joel wasn’t the most inquisitive person on the planet, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to see what they were looking at.
“You know those girls from the other day?” Carter asked. Of course, Joel knew, his girlfriend was one of them. Joel nodded and Carter continued, “they’re here tonight!” Carter almost jumped out of his protective gear with excitement.
“Woah there,” Claude had to calm down his young goaltender as he walked past. “It’s not the first or last time that there are hot girls at a game, keep your head screwed on right and focus on the game.” Joel had to stifle a laugh at their captain’s words, however true they were.
“If you didn’t already have a girl, I’d point out the one wearing your jersey, Beezer,” Kevin explained. “Annalise Cousins, she’s an up and coming model from Philly. But you’ve already got your girl.” Joel had to pretend like the girl they were on about wasn’t his girlfriend. He blocked them out as he got ready and headed out to warm-ups.
Annalise hadn’t been to a hockey game before, so she went down to ice level to try and get a view of Joel. She knew that people would be taking photos of her, especially because of the jersey she was wearing. But she knew she couldn’t distract him too much so she shot him a quick smile and headed up to the box they had reserved for them.
A hattrick. Joel Farabee had scored three goals. Three goals at the first game his girlfriend had come to. How was any other game meant to live up to that? Joel was pulled out of his thoughts to go and do media, however much he hated the media that came with being a hockey player, he knew it was part of his job and that he needed to do it.
Annalise tapped her manicured nails on her jeans as she waited for the Flyers to come out of the dressing room. She really hoped that he would be out soon and as soon as she thought that Kevin Hayes and Carter Hart exited the room. Carter was shocked, why was she waiting outside their dressing room?
“Is Joel almost done?” she asked the two dumbfounded boys.
“Yeah,” Kevin stuttered out, “he should be out any minute now.”
As soon as Joel rounded the corner and Annalise spotted him, she ran towards him. In a split second, she moved from standing in front of him to having her legs and arms wrapped around his waist and neck respectively. Annalise nuzzled her head into the crook of his neck and whispered congratulations to him. He looked over her shoulder to see Kevin and Carter staring with their jaws almost touching the floor.
“Thanks for telling me which one was wearing my jersey,” Joel shot across to his teammates, “not like I helped her pick it out of my wardrobe this morning.”
If it was even possible, their jaws dropped even more.
“Beezer, dating a model?” Kevin asked when he regained his senses.
“What about it,” Annalise replied, still hugging Joel. “He’s doing better than you two are. Now, if you two don’t mind, I am going to celebrate with the first star of the night, preferably in a bed which I won’t leave until lunchtime tomorrow.”
Annalise had jumped out of Joel’s grasp and offered him her hand. Their fingers interlaced as she almost pulled him out of the stadium.
“Wait, Joel’s dating a model?”

K. Hayes - All My Own in a Big Red Bow 2
A/N: I miss hockey. Please enjoy a nice little break from the state of the world before we all go back to dismantling the establishment. :) Love y’all, especially Kevin Hayes.
The frosting feels sticky against your fingers as you swipe it over a 20th cupcake with the butter knife in your hand. Only 40 more to go.
When Kevin stomps his dopey, floppy self into the kitchen with his xbox headphones on, you quickly use your body to shield your work.
"Hands OFF mister," you swat at him and he tips the mic up to mute himself.
"I'm between games. Lemme just get one!" He succeeds in grabbing the butter knife, covered in chocolate frosting, and sliding it across his tongue.
You wrinkle your nose in mock disgust, "You're gross, you know that? Totally nasty." He hangs his tongue out of his mouth and wiggles it obscenely.
"Yeah. You didn't have a problem with that last night, though." Heat slips down your spine at the memory.
"Okay… you're not wrong, you're just an asshole." You slide open the drawer at your hip and grab a clean knife to replace the one Kevin is still licking frosting off of. "Get out of the damned kitchen! I'm trying to make these so your family will love me. You're halting my progress. Go away."
He pulls the mic down, "Do this one without me boys. I'll be back in a bit."
He takes off the headphones entirely and leaves the kitchen to return them to the living room. When he comes back he looks at you seriously, as seriously as he can while still lapping up frosting residue.
"You're aware of the fact that my family currently loves and has always loved you?" You shrug and change the knife again to switch over to the vanilla frosting. "You're already a part of my family," he continues sweetly, dropping the knife into the dishwasher now that he's done with it.
Sighing, you pause your icing for a moment, "It just…" you rest the knife gently against the frosting container and put the cupcake you're working on into the tupperware before looking up at Kevin. "This is the first family party since we're…"
You pause.
You don't want to say it.
You and Kevin have been having fun lately. A lot of fun, as he alluded to only minutes ago.
What you have yet to do was put a label on anything. This is the first family party since... we're together? This is the first family party since we've been fucking? This is the first family party where you invited me instead of my sister?
Nothing you're thinking feels quite right and you just let the sentence hang, heavy and dense in the air.
Kevin's eyes are clear blue, shining bright against his tanned summer complexion, but you can't bring yourself to look at them, choosing instead to focus on the clock on the stove, which tells you that you have exactly two hours before you need to leave to get to this party.
The cupcakes are still not frosted.
They're going to hate you.
Finally, Kevin reaches out and touches your shoulder. "This is really important to you, huh? These stupid cupcakes?"
You meet his gaze now, "They really, really are." You're almost embarrassed to say it, but it's the truth.
"Okay, let's get to work then," he picks up the container of sprinkles and starts dusting them over the tops of the already frosted desserts.
"You're really the best," you nudge him with your hip as you resume your icing job.
He smiles at you, dopey and lopsided, "If it's important to you then it's important to me." You're sure the look you give back to him is just as dopey.
__________
You've been to your sister's house a thousand other times, but when Kevin pulls his truck up outside of it this time you might as well be a stranger.
"Why are you so nervous today? You know all of these people. What's up with you?" Kevin had graciously helped you finish the decorating and then watched you change your clothes four times before ultimately deciding on the first outfit anyway. He's a highly patient man, but you could tell he's confused at best and possibly worried about your psyche at worst.
"Please don't make me explain? I promise I will, just not right now. Please?" He closes his eyes and lets out a breath, bolstering his patience once more.
"Alright, but we gotta talk about it sometime, promise?" You nod and start getting out of the car before grabbing the present you have in the back for your brother-in-law, letting Kevin balance the trays and trays of cupcakes.
Holding the door open, you let Kevin in first so he can drop the tupperware on the counter. He shouts out for Jimmy, hugging his brother as he pulls him away from a conversation with their father.
The brothers exchange a few "hey mans" and a hug before Kevin turns to you; he motions for you to come over to them.
"I brought my girl, hope that's okay," he tells the room at large before wrapping his arm around your waist.
Your sister smiles from where she's feeding the baby on the couch, Kevin's dad rolls his eyes and his son's antics, and his mom smiles knowingly at you and Kevin.
Jimmy laughs and rolls his eyes, "I've heard a lot about you," he reaches out and shakes your hand.
You're not sure if you're highly uncomfortable or absolutely turned to loving mush at Kevin's declaration.
Kevin's sister walks in through the front door with his niece, trailing a fistful of balloons, finally breaking the awkward grasp Jimmy has on your hand.
His niece shoves the balloon strings into Jimmy's hand and he picks her up for a hug before passing her to Kevin's outstretched arms.
"Remember Y/n?" He turns around so he and his niece are facing you. You wave and she smiles and nods.
"She's aunt Kris' sister and mommy told me not to say she should be your new girlfriend 'accause that's rude." She punctuates her story with a nod, and Kevin kisses her head, hiding his smile in her pigtails.
Out of the corner of your eye you can see her mother facepalm, her father barely staunching a laugh.
Kevin continues, "It wasn't rude, baby. As a matter of fact, I thought it was a great idea so I wanted to thank you for finding her for me." She kisses his scruffy face and smiles wide, squirming until he puts her down on the floor where she can run over to her mom and be picked up again.
"See momma? Uncle Kevin said she's his girlfriend now, so I can say it!"
You bury your face in Kevin's chest, embarrassed but radiating love from the center of your chest out to the tips of your toes.
"I'm your girlfriend, Kevin? News to me," you mumble into his Patriots t-shirt as conversation gently resumes around you- his sister, brother-in-law, and niece cooing over the baby on the other side of the room, his parents doing their best to not look like they're eavesdropping.
"Shut up, you know I'm all yours." He looks like he wants to kiss you, really send the point home, but the room is full and it's certainly the wrong venue, so he ends his admission with a kiss on your forehead.
Jimmy walks over with the baby over his shoulder, doing his best to burp him. "I'd say welcome to the family, but you're nothing new," he elbows you playfully as he passes.
Kevin sticks his hand into the back pocket of your jeans and wiggles his way into your heart a little deeper.

Prince With Benefits: Chapter 2
Pairing: Finn Balor X OFC (Ciara)
Word Count: 815
Warnings: Mature to explicit as the story goes on.
Description: After moving to the USA from England to start her career as an NXT superstar, Ciara gets to meet her long time crush, NXT champion Finn Balor. It's clear the pair have chemistry, but when tensions start to rise, will they find they want more than a no strings attached relationship?
So this is the first piece of fanfic I have written literally ever. I will be posting them here periodically, but I already have 6 chapters out on my Wattpad, AO3 and FanFiction pages.
This series will involve romance, drama and (although it will take a little while) some smutt too. Hope you enjoy it! 😊
Chapter 2: Awkward Glances
Paul continued describing the gym and all of its equipment, but I was transfixed on the shirtless figure doing muscle ups in the distance.
Finn Balor, the NXT champion. I tried to pull my gaze away and focus on what Paul was telling me, but the sight of his chiseled physique flexing and stretching had some kind of magical hold upon me. His intense, blue eyes were laser focused on his exercise, until he caught a glimpse of me, staring longingly at him.
In my panic at being caught, I snapped my gaze back towards Paul, hoping my haste did not make me seem more suspicious.
As we continued the tour of the Gym, every now and then I would sneak a glance, never daring to look for more than a few seconds. He had now dismounted from the rings and was refilling his water bottle.
"This is our Strength and Conditioning trainer, Sean Hayes," Paul informed, gesturing to a fit young man with a shaved head. "He can help you establish the best workout routine for you, show you how to use the equipment, that kinda stuff"
"Nice to meet you!" he smiled, and held his hand out for me. I shook it, while casually peering around the room for Finn. He was nowhere to be seen. Disappointed, I gave up and followed Paul to the locker room doors.
As he was telling me a little more about the Gym, the men's door opened, and out walked Finn. He had changed out of his gym clothes and was now wearing grey sweatpants and a tight black t-shirt which did nothing to hide the magnificent torso that lay beneath.
"Oh hey, Champ!" Paul greeted him with a pat on the back. "This is Ciara, she's one of our new NXT superstars. We're expecting big things. Definitely a future women's champion".
Bashful, I looked to the ground. To receive such a high endorsement from the founder and executive producer of NXT was bad enough, but the fact that he was doing so to my crush had turned my face a violent scarlet.
"Is that so?" Finn raised his eyebrows and turned his attention to me. "In that case, I guess I'll be watching you" he smirked, giving me a knowing look. My cheeks were burning. Guess I hadn't been as subtle as I'd intended.
"Great!" Paul smiled enthusiastically. "well unless you have more questions, I have a meeting to get to. Oh, and before I forget. We're holding a welcoming party tonight for all of the new starters. It's a good chance to get to know your coworkers in a more casual setting. Sarah on reception can give you the details."
Paul patted me on the back and left Finn and I alone. With my face still red from embarrassment, I continued to stare nervously at my feet before Finn interrupted the uncomfortable silence.
"So I guess I'll see you tonight then," he hesitated, noticing my discomfort, before making a quick escape. It was only when I was sure he wasn't going to look back at me that I dared to steal a glance at him. Even from the back he looked amazing. Thank God for grey joggers!
* * * *
The hot water from the shower in my apartment felt amazing, as though it were not only cleaning my body, but ridding it of the shame from my first encounter with Finn. I knew I'd meet him eventually, after all we work in the same building, but I really wasn't prepared to see him today, and shirtless no less!
No, in future I would have to pull myself together. I'm an NXT superstar, not a hormonal school girl after all.
I raided my wardrobe for something to wear. Usually this is a decision I don't think twice about, but now with the added pressure of knowing Finn was going to be there, everything in my wardrobe looked hideous. By the time my roommate Alex got home, the bedroom was littered with discarded clothes I'd tossed aside in frustration.
"Whoa! Having a clear out?" she joked, precariously stepping over piles of clothes.
"The NXT orientation party is tonight and I have nothing to wear."
"You're not normally that concerned about your clothes," she puzzled. "You've met somebody!"
"No! It's not like that!" I insisted, but my panicked eyes gave me away.
Doubtfully she smirked at me, before examining the clothes and effortlessly choosing a knee length, blue lace dress from the pile.
"This is perfect."
She handed me the dress, and with a grateful look, I turned my attention to my hair and makeup. After an hour of getting ready, I gave myself one final examination and made a silent promise to myself:
Tonight was about work and nothing else. I would remain professional and there was no way I'd let Finn distract me.
Boy was I wrong...

Thoughts on Grey’s Anatomy: 16X09
This week’s episode was the Fall Finale and it did not disappoint let me tell you! It was so good! The theme of this episode for me was 'I did not see that coming!' And the ending really shocked me! It felt like the old Grey's! I have to say this is the first episode of Grey’s Anatomy I've watched in a while that made me want to actually go back and re-watch it. We open on Meredith coming out of an elevator. It’s her first day back at Grey Sloan! We find out that Mer is looking for a package. Apparently, Cristina sent her something to make her feel better after almost losing her licence to practice medicine and getting dumped. They are persons and BFF's forever! Maggie and Amelia are happy to have her back and the residents are excited to see her. They present her with a welcome back cake and Helm finally gets her hug. It’s all very sweet. Then DeLuca pipes up about not knowing that Bailey had re-hired her.
To which Meredith responds that she was going to tell him, but he was too busy dumping her. DeLuca tries to argue that he didn’t dump her. He told her to take some time. To which she responds, “Rob, Steal, Murder, Kill. It all means the same thing.” Love that salt Mer! Throw that shade honey! Such a Queen! Meanwhile over at Pac North a woman comes by to tour the ER as a potential new hire and Owen has to show her around because Alex is away in Iowa because something is up with his Mom. Yikes! That’s definitely going to be a major plot point when the show comes back in the New Year. Owen shows the woman around and is all doey eyed while doing it which Richard immediately calls him on in the most hilarious way possible!
Back at Grey Sloan Vic and Jackson are having a moment when Catherine pulls up. She doesn't know that Jackson and Maggie have broken up and as a result is cold as ice to Vic in the funniest way! I love her line, “Station 19? What is that a TV Channel?” Oh Catherine. We get a hot and sexy Amelink moment followed by a Schmico moment. Everybody is knocking boots. LOL. Good old Grey's. Side note, where does Nico work right now? Did he take a fellowship position at Grey Sloan? Is he working somewhere else and here to see Levi? I feel like they probably addressed this and I missed it. We cut to Amelia and Link have an adorable little moment where they play a cute little game of what attributes they hope their baby has from each of them. My heart!
Their game is interrupted when they find out that Jo has become a Safe Haven volunteer and just found out that a baby has been dropped off at Station 19 and she has to go pick them up. Oh boy. Link is wonderful and supportive of Jo and what she's trying to do. I love him for that. Amelia gets pulled away to talk to Bailey. They swap pregnancy updates. It's adorable. I’ve noticed Jo's hair is darker now and they haven't addressed why. That’s interesting. I like that they've turned the black female resident named Hannah Brody who was previously a background character that rarely said much into a full-fledged character this season. After losing the actors who played Sam Bello and Dahlia Qadri to other roles they could have just cast a new actor to play a resident but instead they promoted from within and I like that.
We cut to Maggie rounding on her first patient who turns out to be a man who needs heart surgery and whose wife just gave birth ahead of schedule. Maggie is nervous after what happened with Sabi and unfortunately this comes back to bite her later on. Bailey rounds on her first patient and we find out that it’s none other than Captain Herrera from Station 19 and his cancer is back. Oh boy. The residents are still doing rounds when Meredith comes in to see her first patient a teenage girl that she operated on two years ago and that's when the new Head of Paediatric Surgery walks in! His name is Dr. Cormac Hayes. He's Irish and he started this morning. Him and Mer do not get off to a good start to say the least. Hayes doesn't like it when residents round on his patients when he's not there and doesn't seem to understand that Meredith is Meredith freaking Grey and that she part owns the hospital he's standing in.
Meanwhile Jo arrives at Station 19 to pick up the baby. We find out that it’s a three day old infant and that Ben is happy to see her. Back at the hospital Maggie approaches Teddy and asks her to scrub in on her valve replacement surgery. Maggie is clearly nervous and concerned and Teddy picks up on none of it somehow. Meredith and Dr. Hayes butt heads again over their patient, who they decide to send for a CT scan, while DeLuca looks on longingly but decides not to say anything to Mer. Probably a good idea seeing as he just dumped her. Idiot. Meanwhile Bailey is giving Captain Herrera an ultrasound while they talk about her pregnancy and how she thinks it’s going to be a girl. Jackson finds his Mom in one of the conference rooms and they finally talk about what’s been going on in each of their lives and their relationship problems. I love Catherine's outfit in this scene! The striped multicoloured blazer and pink sequinned blouse are fierce! She always has the best clothes!
I like that this show has moments where they work to dispel harmful myths like the idea that using formula instead of breast milk is bad for your baby. It’s not and we need to stop shaming mothers who can't breastfeed or choose not to. Meanwhile at Pac North, Gemma and Richard are having an impromptu AA meeting in Richard's office. They're in the middle of praying when one of Pac North's incompetent employees barges in! Because they are holding hands the employee mistakes Gemma for Richard's wife! They have a good laugh over that and finish doing the serenity prayer. Pac North: Never a dull moment! Meanwhile Jo is still at Station 19 with the surrendered baby. Her and Jack have a heart to heart about being former foster kids. I really love Jo's bomber jacket! It's super cute! They upgraded her wardrobe this year and damn! Back at the hospital we find out that Amelia has yet to have an ultrasound because she's terrified of what she might find out. Bailey convinces her to get one.
Mer and Hayes butt heads again over their patient's CT scan and Hayes throws major shade. Mer throws it right back though by asking who hired him Bailey or Koracick? When Hayes won't answer and asks her why she wants to know Mer fires back with, “Bailey usually has too much sense to hire surgeons whose egos are too big to fit in an OR.” Savage Meredith is the best Meredith. Maggie and Teddy operate on their heart patient. Teddy wants to chit chat. Maggie does not. Meanwhile Catherine shows up at Pac North looking for Richard. She runs into the incompetent employee from earlier and tries to throw shade. It backfires hilariously. Unfortunately, the employee mistakenly tells her that Richard is having coffee with his wife and so now Catherine definitely thinks he's having an affair. Jeez louis.
Meanwhile back at Grey Sloan we find out that Hayes went behind Meredith's back and told their patient and her mother that she might have cancer. Mer is not happy to say the least. Amelia and Link talk about the fact that she hasn't gotten an ultrasound yet. Link assumed she had. Amelia realizes that she really does need to get one. I love her line, “He dumps my sister and you put him on your service?” Amelia. Always coming in with the one liners! Link was unaware that Mer and DeLuca had broken up. DeLuca tries to clear things up while talking to Link and Nico as they scrub in. Link calls him on his BS. Mer has very few equals because she's that good. Which is the truth. As Link points out Mer is one of the world's top general surgeons. DeLuca is still a resident. She doesn't see him as an equal because he's not. No one is. Nico makes some good points about how Schmitt isn't his equal but that doesn't mean he doesn't respect him.
I loved Nico’s line, “But if he told me to take some time, yeah no, I would not respect that.” Drop that truth Nico! Drop it like it’s hot! I love that DeLuca is finally realizing what an idiot he's been. He's acting like he's this great catch when he was dating Meredith freaking Grey. She's the catch. There are lots of men out there who would give their left arm to go out with Mer and he dumped her over his own feelings of inadequacy. He didn't deserve her and he's figuring this out after they're no longer together. You snooze you lose pal. Link tells DeLuca to go fix what he did because he's not her equal, but Mer went out with him anyway and fell in love with him knowing that. He was the one who suddenly decided that was a problem not her. Meanwhile Maggie and Teddy are operating when Tom comes on the intercom and compliments Teddy's work and then leaves. Maggie asks her why she doesn't tell him to leave her alone. Teddy responds that he's her boss and she feels guilty for breaking his I loved Helm’s line, “Wow. So many lawsuits in one explanation.” Never change Helm. Never change.
Maggie then calls Teddy on the fact that Tom is not harmless in the sense that he wants a future with her and she does not seem to want to clear that up. Just as they are getting ready to close Teddy gets called away to the ER. Teddy leaves and right after Maggie realizes that the patient's heart isn't restarting as it should. Meanwhile Bailey comes to see Captain Herrera. She confirms that his cancer is indeed back. Bailey wants to discuss treatment options. Herrera says he won't do chemo again. That's when he looks down and realizes that Bailey is bleeding. When I was watching the episode the first time through I thought for sure this was going to be a cliff hanger. That we would find out there was something wrong but not find out what it was until January. Alas we do find out. Ben and Jo arrive at the hospital with the surrendered baby. That's when Ben gets a text that there's something wrong. He runs off to be at Bailey's side leaving Jo looking worried and confused. Meanwhile Maggie tries desperately to re-start her patient's heart.
Teddy comes back in and says the heart is probably hibernating and that they need to give it time to come back and re-start. Ben rushes to Bailey's room to find her in bed talking to Carina with Pruitt standing beside her. Their faces say it all. Bailey suffered a miscarriage. I cried watching this scene. Poor Bailey. Poor Ben. She is not having a good year. This also means they'll have to tell Tuck that he isn't going to be getting a sibling after all. My heart breaks for them. Meanwhile Meredith and Hayes are in the OR doing a biopsy on their patient. It's not malignant. Meredith was right and Hayes was dead wrong. Once that's confirmed she lays down the law. “Listen Dr. Who Ever You Are, this is my house. You're a guest in my home. I got this.” Damn straight Mer! On the fashion front, Mer is back to wearing her purple pink scrub cap with the floral pattern on it. Meanwhile over at Pac North, Owen has just finished giving the new potential hire a tour. Richard gives him major side eye. He knows what’s up. Richard warns Owen that he's standing on a slippery slope.
Owen says he's not dead inside, but he's also happily taken. Richard counters by asking him if he’s proposed to Teddy yet. Owen says he hasn't. To which Richard responds, “But what? You're waiting for her to have your third child?” I love Richard. Back at Grey Sloan Mer proves to Hayes that she was right all along and he finally seems impressed. Over at Joe's Bar Catherine meets Jackson for (several) drinks and laments about how Richard is having an affair. Jackson calls her on the fact that she has no proof, hasn't actually talked to Richard, and that it seems like a simple misunderstanding which it is. I love his line, “I cannot be responsible for my relationships and yours! Alright? There's not enough therapy in the damn world for that." Oh Jackson. Back at the hospital Ben chases after Bailey in a hallway. He wants to take her home but she just wants to be alone. Which would be heartbreaking enough except that as she rounds the corner she runs into a very cheerful Amelia.
Amelia asks Bailey if she got her ultrasound, oblivious to the fact that she has just suffered a miscarriage. She urges Amelia to get one. She says she's going tonight. As if you weren't tearing up enough already, Amelia asks Bailey if she decided to find out the baby's sex or not. Bailey tearfully tells her it's a girl. Unaware of her heartbreak Amelia joyfully jumps up and hugs her before skipping off down the hall. Oh Grey's, always hitting me right in the feels. Meanwhile Teddy and Maggie try to explain to their patient's wife what happened in surgery. She is understandably upset. Maggie excuses herself because she can't take it any longer. As she walks away Koracick catches up with her in the hallway and asks what happened. Maggie says she would like to tender her resignation effectively immediately. Koracick tells her to hang on a minute. One bad outcome does not mean she should quit.
She tells him she had a bad feeling about the surgery and she should have trusted herself and had someone else do it. Maggie tells Koracick that she can't be a surgeon if she can't trust herself. She quits. Tom tries to argue with her but it's no use. She walks away. Teddy comes out to talk with Tom. He tells her he is in need of a new Cardio Chief and asks if she's interested. At which point Teddy loses it believing that Tom just fired Maggie to give her what he thinks she needs. Teddy tells Tom that she has moved on, that she loves Owen, and she's sorry that she hurt him. But that he has got to stop barking up this particular tree. Tom tells a stunned Teddy that he didn't fire Maggie. She quit. But he does think she should be Chief of Cardio. After a moment’s hesitation he also tells her that he wants a life with her and would marry her tomorrow. Tom points out that Owen has a baby with her and still hasn't proposed. He asks her if she's really sure she wants to close the door on them before walking away. Meanwhile, Bailey finally breaks down alone in her office about the loss she's suffered.
Meredith and Hayes finish treating their patient who is upset that the boy she likes hasn't texted her back. Hayes pipes up and says that as someone who has raised a couple of teenage boys he knows a thing or two. Hayes tells her that all teenage boys care about is Fortnite and pizza and that they're terrified of girls. And that they can't talk to them, especially the ones they like. This cheers her up considerably. After work Link comes over to see Jo at the loft. He asks how things went and finds out that Jo took the surrendered baby home! Did she steal that baby? Did she talk to the social worker and work something out? We don't know. The day ends with Meredith in the elevator texting Cristina. Cristina asks if she got her package. Mer says it never came. Just then Hayes gets on the elevator too. She stops texting and asks him what his deal is. Hayes tells her that he doesn't try to figure out what people want to hear. He prefers to give them all the information up front and let them figure out how to deal with it.
He follows up by saying he does this because his wife's doctors didn't pay him that respect before she died so he does his best to do so for others. He ends by saying Grey Sloan might be Mer's house, but someone gave him a key so maybe it's best if they try to learn how to live together and welcomes her back. He says he can see why she was missed and just as he walks away she gets another text from Cristina. The package isn't an it. It's a him. The package Cristina sent isn't an object. It's a person. Dr. Cormac Hayes is Cristina's gift to Mer. He's the new head of Paediatric Surgery at Grey Sloan, he's a widow (or McWidow as Cristina calls him), and he's a father to at least two teenage boys. Cristina signs off her texts to Mer with a bunch of three leaf clovers. She's gifting Mer with the luck of the Irish in the form of a new love interest. Which is such a Cristina thing to do. LOL! Everyone needs a Cristina in their life! I'm excited that Mer has a new love interest. From what I can tell Hayes checks all the right boxes. He's an attending Department Chief.
He appears to be a talented surgeon. He appears close to Mer's age. He's a father. And he's got Cristina's stamp of approval! The fact that Cristina had a hand in picking him and bringing him from Ireland to the U.S. to work at Grey Sloan to be the new head of Paediatric Surgery also suggests that Alex might be in on this too. Cristina is a heart surgeon, not a peds surgeon. It’s not her speciality. You know whose it is? Her good friend Alex. Where is Alex working right now? At Pac North and he’s happy there. Which means Grey Sloan needs a new Peds Chief. Cristina wouldn’t send Mer and her beloved hospital someone crappy. Cristina is hard to impress and if she sent Hayes to Seattle it’s because he impressed her. He’s someone Cristina thinks Mer will get along well with, can potentially build a life with, and who can do his job well in a way Alex would approve of. To me this implies that Cristina would have talked to Alex about bringing Hayes to Grey Sloan as a potential new hire before she set things in motion.
Although I doubt she mentioned the boyfriend element. My guess is she reached out to get his thoughts on Hayes and get his stamp of approval. One of my biggest pet peeves is that Cristina and Alex have butted heads with or openly disliked most of the people Meredith has dated (and vice versa). I'm excited to see her with someone her best friends actually like. We’ll have to wait to January to see if I’m right or not, but I’m really excited to see where this goes! To be honest, I think they should have gone this route from the beginning after having Mer date for a while and not wasted our time with all that Link and DeLuca nonsense, but were here now and that's the important thing! But the episode's not done yet! We see Amelia having her ultrasound. Everything is fine with the baby (yah!) except we find out that Amelia is actually 24 weeks pregnant, not 20 weeks like she thought. Which based on the look on her face means either Link or Owen could be the father. Yikes! We then cut to Joe's Bar where Ben and Captain Herrera are drinking at the bar, Jackson is drinking alone, the residents are drinking together, and Nico and Schmitt are on a date.
Herrera tries to comfort Ben to no use. Ben then questions why Herrera himself was even at the hospital. Schmitt turns to bring drinks back to his and Nico's table WHEN A FREAKING CAR CRASHES INTO THE BAR!!! I legitimately screamed when that happened! Not Joe's Bar! No! Wow. What a finale! This means several major and minor character's lives are hanging in the balance until January! I wonder what's happening with Alex's Mom. Whatever it is it doesn't sound good. Imagine how freaked he'll be when he gets back. He's already dealing with family issues and now everything in Seattle is a mess! Jo took home a baby. Cristina sent Mer a new boyfriend from Ireland. Bailey just suffered a miscarriage! Maggie just quit. Amelia might be having Owen's baby and a car just crashed into Joe's Bar! Alex's first day back in Seattle is going to be a doozey!
Until then dear readers!

Call me. 52: The last thing they said to you in person? We actually just talked about something with her second job. 53: What is the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you in front of them? Super awkward for me. 54: Do they have any tattoos or piercings? Lol, yes. Both tattoos involve me. 😛 “Forever Yours” is on the inside of her arm and that’s how we used to sign our letters to each other; it’s also our song from Journey “Faithfully.” The other one is a big “Sabrina Ann” on her outer arm. AHAHAHA. In no way did I push that on her, she made that decision on her own before we even got married. Lol. She also has piercings on her ears. 55: What color are their eyes? Brown. 56: What is their clothing style? It just depends on how she’s feeling. She can dress down or dress up. 57: What is one thing that makes them really special? The love she has for me is unfathomable. 58: Will you tell your crush your feelings? Lol, She knows all about it. 59: How long did you know them before you started falling for them? Definitely over a year. We were arguing and it just dawned on me that I really loved this hoe. I loved the fall which definitely happened in the first 6 months of us dating but I didn’t truly love her until over a year later. 60: Was there a defining moment when you knew you liked them? When I told her I left my chicken nuggets in her car when she dropped me home and she came back to drop it to me. I came down the stairs and she was like “Dayummm!” I was wearing my sleeping clothes already which was like booty shorts and a tank top but I was flattered and giddy. Lol. 😂 Also, when she always stayed back off the clock to help me get things done. It was the cutest thing.

THE KRUM SIBLINGS — WANTED CONNECTION 4 & 5 — IDEA NUMBER 1 OUT OF ∞
milan krum. the oldest, the rebel. bruised knuckles, scratched knees and dirty shoes. the sun going down over an empty parking lot. broken bottles of champagne and cigarette butts. the smell of coffee grounds that haven’t been used for anything yet. holding on to something for far too long. half-smiles. charcoal grey. not even realizing that night fell whilst you were drawing. ( slytherin, seventh year, intern at the department of mysteries. )
evgenia krum. the middlest, the powerhouse. band-aids carefully applied over cuts. grass stains all over your clothes. feeling at home in the air. apologizing for hitting someone’s head by telling them you meant to hit their arm. crop tops and doc martens. leading others to victory. daisies and sunflowers. a clear blue sky on a warm summer day. putting your legs behind your head just because you can. ( hufflepuff, sixth year, captain and beater for the under-18 uk quidditch team. )
vladislav krum. the youngest, the baby. flower crowns made of lilies of the valley. laughing so loud during dinner that people start to wonder whether you’re actually crying. eating as though you haven’t done so in days. a gentle gentle breeze under the autumn sun. playing video games until your fingers start to hurt. that feeling of exhaustion and pride you feel after running just for fun. ( gryffindor, fifth year, intern at the department of magical accidents and catastrophes. )

Races of Catheridge: The Kanin
Here’s the first public draft of the Kanin, the iconic race of Catheridge! Check it out below the break! Note that their racial traits are geared for Pathfinder, and not D&D 5E.
Art is, of course, by @slightlysimian.
Kanin
“Pity? When wos it my concern when the fair people of Ironfar failed to protect their own borders? They got cursed; let ‘em wallow in it. Maybe next time they won’t keep all the money to ‘emselves!” ~Keaton Ericson, Novice Adventurer
The Kingdom of Ironfar was the center of human power in the otherwise wild and untamed land of Eurreach. A noble and just king once ruled it, though he was also overzealous and greedy, and made many enemies. The kingdom lived in prosperity and wealth for a great many years, and brought peace to the land, until a mysterious figure, known only as the Shadow Witch, appeared, and in a single coup, overran the city with an army of dark, shadowy creatures and killed the king. She attempted to curse the people of the city into creatures of the woodland via a massive and powerful transmutation spell, but was forced to botch the ritual thanks to the young prince of the kingdom, who slammed into the Witch before she could finish the spell and barely fled the city with his sister and his life afterward.
And thus the kanin were made, the cursed people of Ironfar. The kanin still, to this day, seek to find a way to undo the curse upon them and their nation, and many travel the world, searching far and wide for a cure. While they are still humans at heart, their bodies are small and beast-like, and they search for a way to return themselves and their kingdom to its former glory, sometimes through any means necessary. At large, it is believed that a cure lies in the aurgems of Xer. Priceless coins minted during the ancient god-king’s rule and believed to be gifted with the power to grant any wish, regardless of the will of the gods or the mysterious laws of magic governing such power. As such, Ironfar seeks to gather every coin together to undo the curse upon them, for it seems to be their only hope of removing it.
Physical Description: Kanin resemble humanoid, walking, talking, woodland critters. They have small, furry bodies with large, round eyes, and simulate several small animals. By and large, most kanin look like hares or rabbits, with large, open ears, but ones that resemble squirrels, foxes, cats, and dogs, or any mix of all of the above (thanks to breeding) are not unheard of. They’re small in stature, hovering around three to three and a half feet in general. They have small, thin arms, but strong digitigrade legs, capable of propelling them great distances for creatures of their size. Their fur color ranges from whites, grays, browns, and blacks, with the occasional blonde or auburn among them. Their eyes speak of their human nature, bearing the same breadth of colors and shapes regular human might possess.
Kanin wear clothes that resemble regular human clothing, sized and shaped for their bodies. They favor breeches or shorts with tunics and vests made from simple cloth or leather. Most forgo shoes, due to the difficulty of crafting them for their altered legs and the padding on their feet being sufficient enough. Kanin armor is typically just metal plates and pieces strapped directly on their bodies, since their fur is sufficient enough insulation and prevents chafing. This allows the kanin to remain flexible even in armor.
Society: Kanin wander the entirety of Catheridge in search of the Xerian Aurgems, and as such tend to be traders, travelers, and adventurers. Some have pledged themselves as servants to wealthy nobles with the promise of receiving a single Aurgem for nearly a lifetime of servitude. That aside, most Kanin still reside in their homeland of Eurreach, in the city of Ironfar, working to maintain the peace and order the land, just as it was before their curse. Kanin have a chivalrous, friendly society, always eager to make friends instead of enemies, and gathering wealth for the betterment of their people instead of greed and excess. They recognize the king or queen of Ironfar as their sovereign lord, and each one since the creation of the race has always encouraged their people to find the Aurgems and bring happiness to those around them.
Kanin tend to either travel alone or in groups, hoping to trade goods and services in exchange for Aurgems, while others delve lost tombs and ruins, hoping to find caches and chests of Xer’s lost treasures. They always maintain a hopeful, bright, and endearing attitude. This combined with the general charming appearance of their bodies makes them a remarkably hard race to hate or turn down.
Relations: Kanin try not to make enemies, and try and keep trade open and honorable between all the races of the land. Fauns and High Fey tend to find them adorable. Garoh find sympathy in their plight, but can do little to help them. Centaurs remember that they are still humans on the inside, and remain indifferent to them. Minotaurs view them as barely more than snacks. Nagakin have an interesting relationship with them, to say the least, considering that their kingdoms and empires contain a fair amount of Aurgems hidden away in their coffers. Paeraens sympathize with the kanin, and generally try and help them whenever they can.
Alignment & Religion: Many kanin are friendly, determined, and chivalrous, hell-bent on removing the curse on them and regaining their humanity. As a result, most Kanin are good in alignment, but do swing between lawful and chaotic. Some kanin have no interest in removing their curse and do attempt to just live out their lives in neutrality.
Adventurers: Many kanin take up dangerous jobs, scouring the far reaches for a dead currency that used to be traded across the world, while others pursue knighthood and attempt to bring unity to the scattered races and countries of Catheridge, and take up heavy arms and armor, despite their small, weak bodies. Kanin are well suited to being bards or rogues, but many also do become fighters, paladins, and clerics.
Playing a Kanin: In broad strokes, kanin on the whole tend to be brave, hopeful, and even heroic. As a kanin, you have a small body, but a big heart. You know at your core that you’re human, though you look nothing like one. Despite the fact that there isn’t a living kanin today who was human before the Shadow Witch, when you look at a human you feel a sense of kinship and familiarity, perhaps even longing. You should be able to easily share a drink and hold a conversation with a human from your city, town or even country. You instinctively know that you should be human, but something is wrong. You feel the magic tainting your veins and you know it’s not natural. It’s not an uncomfortable feeling, physically, but the reminders are there and they are constant. Use this facet as fuel for your character. How do you feel about the curse and what do you want to do to resolve it, if anything? Have you brushed up on your history and do you feel Ironfar got what it deserved? Do you wish to make things right, or do you just want to live out your life as best you can, being as ambitious as any other human?
Male Names: Barrus, Ector, Lance, Hayes, Oswald, Ransford, Shaw, Vaynard,
Female Names: Ariana, Cai, Elaine, Fiona, Gwen, Kyla, Leigh, Tavia,
Racial Traits
Ability Score Racial Traits: +4 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, -2 Strength, -2 Constitution. Kanin are remarkably swift and endearingly hopeful, but frail and weak due to their small bodies.
Type: Kanin are Humanoids with the Human and Shapechanger subtype.
Size: Kanin are Small creatures and gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their CMB and CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
Base Speed: Kanin are fast for their size and have a base speed of 30 feet.
Low-Light Vision: Kanin can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim lighting.
Shred of Humanity: Kanin hold fast to their humanity, despite their bodies and the often-encroaching animalistic instincts granted to them by their curse. On character creation, choose either to receive a bonus feat at first level, or an extra skill rank each level. Once made, this choice cannot be changed.
Body of Prey: Kanin receive a +2 Racial Bonus to Acrobatics and Perception skill checks and treat both skills as class skills.
Cursed Body: The kanin race are the result of a dark witch’s (botched) curse, and as such their bodies bear this curse from generation to generation. Transmutation spells with the polymorph subschool, such as alter self, polymorph, beast form, etc., as well as spells that would undo or dispel such magic (though only in regards to returning them to a human form), automatically fail to function on a Kanin.
Languages: Kanin begin play knowing Common. Kanin with high Intelligence scores can learn any language they please.
What Your Traits Mean for You
Ability Scores: The curse on your body was long ago meant to transform you and the rest of the citizenry of Ironfar into small woodland creatures of prey; rabbits, squirrels, mice, weasels, raccoons, and the like, with the occasional fox, cat, and dog in the mix. Among the most common traits of all these creatures is their remarkable dexterity. All kanin are just naturally agile, and are born and raised learning how to use their bodies. Of course, another thing these animals have in common is their general frailty and lack of raw power. A human will have little to no issue punting a kanin across a small room, and that kanin is going need some time to recover from the resultant injuries. Your body will break much more easily than others, and your small frame simply cannot hold in much musculature. A kanin’s bonus to charisma stems more from a cultural change if anything. Sure, you look cute. A small, walking bunny rabbit in little clothes with bright eyes has undeniable appeal for most people, but looks alone only contribute little to charisma and confidence. Before the turning of the age, Ironfar and the newly formed kanin were at the center-stage as the world turned and changed around them. It was Ironfar and the kanin who united all of Eurreach and Catheridge together to combat a common enemy and survive the apocalypse. It was the kanin of Ironfar that kept the peace and helped the world settle down after the changes. As a result, the kanin naturally became better ambassadors and newborns grow up learning how to deal with and talk to strangers, and put on a good impression. Not all kanin embrace this approach, of course, but their culture ensures that very few kanin are shy or bad with words.
Type: Kanin have the shapechanger subtype as a result of their curse. The Shadow Witch was nothing if not exacting in that this was how she wanted the people of Ironfar to live out the rest of their lives. It is very hard for kanin to become a not-kanin and stay that way. The Shapechanger subtype simply enforces this rule.
Base Speed: Most small playable races have a base speed of 20 for their size, but a kanin’s bestial leg structure ensures that they move just a swiftly as any other human. Kanin typically move in bounding, hopping or skipping strides, easily covering the height of their body in a single step. Always remember that you’re small and fast, as its one of the few mercies you’re afforded with your body.
Shred of Humanity: The Shadow Witch’s curse has left you and your people less than human. And the part of humanity left in you is something you cling onto jealously. It should be something that drives you forward, reminds you of what you are. Remember you are human. The Witch’s spell has left you plagued with the occasional instinctual thought, the urge to flee from danger, every kanin deals with these instincts, and it’s your shred of humanity that keeps you cognizant. It is your shred of humanity that sets you apart from being a simple “beast race.” You still have the potential to be skilled and talented, but your body and instincts hold you back from being as flexible and skilled as a regular human.
Body of Prey: While you indeed stand upright, have the capacity to use tools, and are quite intelligent, there is no denying that you are small, you are weak, and you would make a very tasty meal for a pack of wolves. The animal part of your curse has instilled in you the instincts of a creature of prey, when answering the flight or fight response, your instincts usually tell you to take flight. Whether or not you do is entirely up to you, but most kanin are subconsciously on the lookout for danger, and are physically ready and able to run, scamper, jump, and climb to safety, regardless of their chosen profession.
Cursed Body: The Kanin curse is just that, a curse, and while mechanically it does give quite a few “benefits,” there are drawbacks to it as well. The curse emotionally and psychologically devastated the people of Ironfar at its conception. Not only did they lose their city and the bulk of their army to the Shadow Witch’s invasion, but they were then turned into small, weak, bestial creatures, who now have to look up to any other creature they meet. Kanin have to worry about being overlooked, tripped on, hunted by animals, and treated as lower class citizens or not worthy of attention among other societies. On top of this, the curse has “firewalls” in place that prevent it from being easily dispelled or changed. In addition to being unable to benefit from any polymorphing spell, spells that also remove or cure spell effects fail to restore a kanin to human as well. Indeed, not even Wish or Miracle can or has cured the Kanin Curse. Ironically, the curse has made kanin immune to the very spell that was used against them, Baleful Polymorph. Let it never be said there isn’t a silver lining. As a side note, the curse only directly affects spells and spell-like abilities. Extraordinary and Supernatural Abilities, such as a druid’s Wild Shape, still work as intended.

Imagine: Being a Factionless who sneaks into Dauntless as an initiate and being afraid to tell your boyfriend, Peter.
Requested: @writers-block0o0 said “Can you do a Peter Hayes imagine where you’re factionless and you are a secret dauntless anitiate and he falls in love with you and you get together with him but gets confused when you dont tell him where you are from and you finally tell him and he’s actually okay with it? I’m sorry its a long request”
Come on Y/N, just a little further, come on! You run to catch up to the moving train, a boy in blue helps pull you up, and you drop down next to an Abnegation transfer. The Candor next to her judges you by the colour of your clothes, obviously not believing that an Amity transfer could make it in Dauntless -little did she know you weren’t an Amity transfer.
You were born to a factionless family, and growing up, all you wanted was a chance to choose your fate like every other 16-year-old, but of course, you weren’t going to be allowed to. You decided you weren’t going to change that, even if it meant sneaking into the faction. What was the worst that could happen? They’d make you factionless? At least you could have the chance.
The weeks had passed by, and barely anyone questioned you. The fact that there were virtually no Amity transfers in the faction also helped you to conceal your secret. However, the one thing you were struggling with was Peter Hayes. He had become your closest friend since you transferred to Dauntless, but the one problem was that he could see right through you. Peter always asked where you and transferred from but you refused to tell him. You had managed to keep your secret safe, but you constantly lived with the worry that he would no longer care for you if he found out the truth -or worse, tell the leaders and have you kicked out of the faction.
You had passed the first stage of initiation with a fairly high ranking, thanks to Peter’s help. The day you found out your ranks, was also the day you shared your first kiss with Peter, and ever since then, the two of your were inseparable.
There was however, one downfall to this relationship, the fear of him discovering your secret had gotten even worse -to the point where it showed up in your fear simulation. Four was very confused by it but luckily he didn’t give it much thought, but you knew you had to overcome this fear before fear-landscapes or else all the leaders would see it. There was only one way to make the fear go away and that was to tell Peter the truth.
You gathered every ounce of your courage and lead your boyfriend to a secluded, camera-less hallway.
“Okay Y/N, can you tell me what’s going on now?” He asks exasperatedly.
You pace back and forth in front of him, “Uh..yeah...well the thing is...um...well I have to tell you that...you know how you always ask...um...you know what maybe we’ll just do this another time!”
You turn away from him, but he stops you, spins you around, and takes you by the shoulders, “Y/N, you can’t just bring me out here in the middle of the night saying that you have something to tell me, and then leave me hanging! So you better tell me what the hell is going on.”
“Well-um,” You take a deep breath and then speak quicker than you thought was possible, “YouknowhowyoualwaysaskmewhereIamfromandInevertellyou? That’sbecauseI’mfromthefactionless.”
He stares at you wide-eyed, “You do know that not a single word you just said made any sense?”
You sigh, “I was born into the factionless Peter, I snuck into Dauntless so I could have the chance to have a future.”
He stares at you and doesn’t say a word. You heart shatters at his silence and you turn away from him, “Look if you don’t want to be with me anymore I understand, but please don’t tell anyone this... I guess I’ll leave you alone now.”
You walk to the end of the hallway before he speaks up, “Y/N wait!”
He runs up to you and places a hand on your cheek, “The truth is, I don’t care where you came from, you’re Dauntless now, and I still love you. You’re secret is save with me.”
“Seriously?” You ask, a small smile creeping on to your face.
“Seriously,” He nods. He’s quite for a moment, but then he adds with a wink, “Besides, I think it’s pretty badass that you were able to sneak your way into Dauntless.”
You chuckle before leaning up to give him a kiss, “I love you Peter.”
“I love you too Y/N, and nothing will ever change that.”
End.

For Good CH 11
Beca lets go of Chloe extremely slowly making sure they don’t lose eye contact. Chloe’s heart is hammering into her chest at a speed that cannot be healthy. She’s almost certain that Beca can hear it but is ignoring it. The redhead notices that Beca is trying to say something but no words are coming out. A few minutes later Beca manages to make a coherent sentence. “This is the best birthday I’ve had in a very long time, thank you.” Beca lets out a breathy chuckle. “Sorry, that sounded lame.”
“No it didn’t, I’m glad you liked it.” Beca now does let go and shakes her head frantically looking around the room once more. “Like it? I love it Chlo…” Looking through some of the notes she wrote years ago a stray tears finds its way down her cheek. “I uhm I can’t believe you kept all this stuff.” Letting out a soft laugh when she finally looks back at Chloe. “Especially the jacket, I forgot how good it looked on you.” Chloe’s cheeks turn bright red matching her hair.
The redhead looks down at her feet not really knowing how to react to what Beca just said. The brunette cups Chloe’s chin with her thumb and index finger making her look up again. Neither is sure how to proceed from this point. Only one of them has to lean forward slightly and their lips would meet for a kiss but both know that before that can happen they would need to talk about… them. The two clear their throat at the same time, bursting into laughter.
“As much as I want to kiss you right now we should… talk?” Chloe nods and points to the couch behind her. Taking the redhead’s hand Beca leads them to the couch so they can sit down. Not letting go of Chloe’s hands Beca turns to face her. “I kissed you, before you start panicking I do not regret it and as you know I want to do it again.” Chloe nods but not saying anything just yet. “But I need us to be on the same page. We need to start building up our trust again. So I want us to start over again, like you know… Do you want to go out on a ‘second’ first date?”
Suddenly Beca is really nervous. Performing in front of thousands of people she’s fine – asking Chloe out on a date and her hands are clammy and her entire body is tense. “I would love that.” Chloe’s genuine smile and light squeeze into Beca’s hand make the brunette relax slightly. “That’s great… I know that look, you have a question, right?” Chloe chuckles. “I actually have a list.” Beca rolls her eyes playfully. “Okay, I’m all ears.” Taking a deep breath Chloe finds the courage to ask her questions.
“Alright, why did you choose today out of all days to introduce me to Laura Hayes? What was up with all that miss Mitchell stuff at the club and talking about the club, how long have you been DJ-ing there? Do you know the owner or something? Please don’t hate me for this one but I asked miss Hayes if you still have nightmares, I didn’t mean to pry but I had to know. And are you sure you want me to keep living here?”
Beca gapes at the rambling redhead before her holding up her hands in hope that she slows down right when she finishes her last sentence. “Wow.”The brunette breathes out. “Okay, I’m going to answer the easy questions first… You meeting Laura was way overdue and I know that if you knew you were going to meet her you’d be freaking out.” Taking a moment to think about the second question she wants to answer Beca looks down at her hands. “I’m not mad at you for asking her about my nightmares, if you feel more comfortable talking to her I can give her the okay and you can ask her all the questions you want about me. The reason I went to her in the first place was so I could maybe one day find the courage and talk to you about it but no luck so far.”
Beca chuckles while Chloe just stares at her. “Oookay moving on… uhm I am the owner of the club, I always wanted to that. I finished my business degree and a little over a year ago I bought the space and turned it into the club you saw tonight. No one knows I own the place, people only know I DJ every Thursday and Friday.” Chloe’s eyes shoot up at the revelation. “Are you for real? OMG that so amazing Becs, I’m so proud of you!” The redhead jumps into Beca’s arms making them both tumble of the couch.
Beca tucks a strand of hair from Chloe’s eyes behind her ear looking up at the beautiful girl on top of her. “And as for you living here… I don’t want to spend another moment apart from you. Please don’t go?” Chloe leans in and ghosts her lips over Beca’s. “I’m not going anywhere.” This was everything Beca needed to hear in that moment, lifting her head she captures Chloe’s lips. The kiss is sweet and simple. There is no need to hurry.
-,-,-,-,-
Beca managed to convince Chloe to move to the couch. “I’m going to grab a blanket, be back soon.” She softly whispers, kissing the redhead on her forehead. Chloe mumbles something but Beca doesn’t quiet catch it. She returns a few minutes later and finds Chloe asleep with a smile. Not having the heart to wake her up Beca covers the redhead with a blanket and checks the time. It’s a little before 3 AM and she doesn’t feel tired yet so she quietly makes her way to her home studio. Maybe some inspiration might hit her.
It’s close to 8 AM when Chloe wakes up with a jolt. For a moment she panics because she doesn’t remember where she is. But once she gets used to the light and looks around she realizes that she’s on Beca’s couch. She doesn’t remember falling asleep there, she does remember the little make out session they had one the floor. The floor! Chloe turns around and looks down but no sign of Beca could be found. Maybe she went to bed? She thinks, stretching and getting up to make some coffee.
In the kitchen Chloe notices that a new pot was made recently, which means that Beca either got up not so long ago or… “She never went to bed.” With a sigh she goes on search of the brunette making a first stop at her room. No Beca. Next stop was the shower, she listens intently hoping to hear the water running but yet again. No Beca. Chloe hears faint music coming from down the hall so she follows it. The closer she gets the clearer the words become.
… Please say you'll be waiting
Together again It would feel so good to be In your arms Where all my journeys end If you can make a promise If it's one that you can keep I vow to come for you If you wait for me
And say you'll hold A place for me In your heart
A place for me in your heart A place for me in your heart A place for me in your heart
Chloe gently pushes the door open to reveal Beca in the clothes she was wearing the night before, behind the piano singing a song she did not recognize. “Morning.” Chloe almost drops her mug, not having expected that Beca would notice her. “Uhm morning?” Beca gets up and walks over to the redhead. “Did I wake you?” Beca lets out a relieved breath when Chloe shakes her head. “Beautiful song.” Beca chuckles and waves Chloe over to the piano. “It’s something new, I finished it about an hour ago.”
Beca takes the mug out of Chloe’s hands and places it on top of the piano. “Do you want to sing with me?” With a grin Chloe nods and sits down next to the brunette. She listens to the tune Beca is playing and quickly realizes what she’s playing. So without any hesitation Chloe starts singing.
Chloe Oh, her eyes, her eyes, make the stars look like they're not shining Her hair, her hair, falls perfectly without her trying She's so beautiful, and I tell her every day
Beca (I was thinking bout her, thin-kin bout me) I know, I know (Thin-kin bout us, what we gon' be) Chloe when I compliment her she won't believe me Beca (Open my eyes yeah, it was only Just A Dream) it's so, it's so, sad to think that she don't see what I see Chloe But every time she asks me do I look ok, Beca (It's only just a dream) Chloe I say
When I see your face Beca (So I travelled back, down that road Will she come back, no one knows) Chloe There's Not a thing that I would change Beca (I realize yeah, it was only Just A Dream) Chloe Because girl you're amazing, just the way you are Beca (it was only Just A Dream) Chloe When I see your face Beca (So I travelled back, down that road Will she come back, no one knows) Chloe It's Not a thing that I would change Beca (I realize yeah, it was only Just A Dream) Chloe Cause girl you're amazing, just the way you are Beca (it was only Just A Dream)
Chloe When I see your face
“I missed this.” Beca’s voice is the one that breaks the comfortable silence. “Me too.” Chloe averts her gaze to the keys of the piano. “Do you want to go get some breakfast?” Beca bumps her shoulder into Chloe’s to make her look at her. “I’m starving.” Chloe lets out a laugh. “You’re always starving Mitchell.” The DJ shrugs. “So that’s a yes?” Chloe nods. “Great, let me take a shower first.” Chloe chuckles at the over enthusiastic antics that are Beca Mitchell. “Let’s meet in the living room in an hour, that gives me time to take a shower too.” Beca wants to comment on it but quickly decides against it, it’s not the time… yet.
-,-,-,-,-
Beca is waiting for Chloe to come down. Her stomach is heavily protesting the lack of food. She throws a ball for Ella to bring back to her to kill time. “Sorry, sorry, sorry I’m ready.” Chloe runs in while trying to get her jacket on. “Relax Chlo.” Beca gets up from the floor and grabs Ella’s leash. “We don’t have a schedule today.” Ella is circling the girls yapping excitedly. “Alright baby girl, we’re going.” The brunette attaches the leash to the collar and opens the door for Chloe.
“So, where are we going?” Chloe asks linking her arm with Beca’s out of habit. “Well, I was thinking of going to my favorite breakfast place not far from here and after I’d show you around the city? I mean you haven’t really been sightseeing yet so I thought maybe you’d like that?”
“I would love that… ooooh can we go for a walk in the park too?” Beca playfully rolls her eyes. “Whatever you want.” Chloe squeals and makes a little jump. “We’re here – The Rolling Scones – I come here every day.” Chloe watches the Beca’s eyes light up while talking about the different things they have. “So, do you want to go in?”
“Yes, I can’t wait to see what this place has in store.” Beca opens the door and lets Chloe in, following quickly with Ella. “Beca you’re back! Should I get you your usual?” The brunette shakes her head. “Not yet mister Cimorelli, thank you. How’s your wife?” Chloe watches the interaction between the two with a smile.

K. Hayes - All My Own in a Big Red Bow
A/N: This is for @hockeyandtaylorswift, for Christmas. She requested it and I love her and she deserves the world. Also I posted this on my phone so I could get it out asap. Sorry if the formatting suffered.
Prompts:
23. “Chocolate chip is the only cookie that matters.”
24. “Is this the part where we kiss?”
"Kris, are you sure? I don't want to make it awkward. I'll be the only one from your side there." Your sister scoffs into the phone.
"Babe, it's fine. You know how they Hayeses are. The more the merrier." You do know this. Your sister's in-laws are incredibly warm. They invited you to a pool party this past summer and text you for your birthday.
You're right. I'm still just a little annoyed that Mom and Dad felt the need to have their midlife-crisis now and jet off to a tropical island for Christmas. They couldn't wait a week?" You hear Kris hum and there's a cry in the background.
"I'll let you get back to it. Keep my nephew happy. I'll see you tomorrow." Kristen reminds you of the time and tells you to bring pajamas and an overnight bag so you don't have to go home and when you hear the door to the nursery and the baby's cries get louder you assure her that you've got it and hurry her off the phone.
It could be worse; you'll be with your sister for Christmas at least. You can't really blame your parents. When they made the plans months ago you were still with your ex and planning to travel out of state to see his family, but that was months ago and you'd really rather not be alone on Christmas. The flip side is you'll spend it with your sister's perfect little family, which you're happy about, but obviously a little envious you haven't been able to find your own prince charming yet. They don't make them like Jimmy anymore, obviously.
_______
When you get to Kris and Jimmy's house the next day you immediately relieve her of the baby, delighted to bounce him around the house on your hip and make silly noises at him.
Glad you came to see me. I feel really special," Kris yells across the kitchen to you as she mixes up a batch of cookies for later.
"Don't make me choose, you won't like the outcome. You know where my love lies," you hold your nephew up high over your head and blow a raspberry with your lips, aiming for an engine noise but really just spitting all over yourself. The baby doesn't seem to care much and he giggles and coos before he's plucked from your hands.
"How's my favorite little man? Huh? You excited for Santa tonight?" Kevin lights up as he talks to his nephew and you're not really sure if you want any kids of your own, but boy does a man who's good with kids punch you right in the ovary.
"Hey! Give him back, we were playing airplane," you whine at Kevin, all the while smiling at his stupid ugly sweater. He plops a kiss down on the baby's fuzzy head and hands him back over to you.
"Okay, but I'm next in line. Hand him right to me or I'll never get him. My mom's vicious." Nodding, you wink and promise Kevin exactly that.
He pats you on your back and bends down to drop a kiss on your cheek, "Sorry, hi. Where's Dennis?"
"Merry Christmas. I don't know. Hell?"
Kristen snorts, obviously overhearing you. "Touchy subject, Kev." You roll your eyes.
"It's not touchy, I'm just being grinchy. We broke up, that's all." Kevin lifts his eyebrows and nods.
"I'd say sorry to hear it, but Jim said he's a douche." He sits down on the chair across the table from you.
"Your brother is perceptive and wise beyond his years." Kris drops a bowl of dough on the table in between you and Kevin.
"If you're in the kitchen, you're helping. Make these into balls and put them on this cookie sheet, please? I want to check on dinner." She walks away with the grace she's always had that you've never been able to emulate, floating on air.
Kevin washes his hands and stands over the table, balling up cookie dough and putting them far too close together on the cookie sheet. When you look over you notice something's missing.
"Kris? Where are the chocolate chips?"
"They're sugar cookies. I ran out of chips," she calls from where she's bent down checking the roast in the oven.
"Oh no. I'm running out then. Everyone knows chocolate chip is the only cookie that matters." She nods, placating you like only a big sister can.
"Be my guest. But give me the baby, I want to feed him so he'll take a nap before dinner." She scoops him up and his little face lights up at seeing his mother and your heart breaks with love.
"Kev, you wanna come?" Glancing at him as you shrug on your coat, he's leaning over the sink washing his hands again, but looks up when you call his name.
"For sure." He looks at you, brows drawn and mouth in a straight line, serious. "I hate sugar cookies." He gives you a big dopey grin and you are eternally happy your sister married into this family.
_______
"Not sure how I ended up driving," Kevin backs out of the driveway, turning and looking behind him with his big hand on the back of your headrest.
Making your eyes big and innocent you smile up at him, "Because you blocked me in and your truck is nicer than my car." You adjust the climate control on your side of the car and he lowers the radio from the buttons on the steering wheel.
"You wanna talk about Dennis?" He glances over at you at a red light and you want to sink into your seat.
"There's not much to tell. He started seeing someone at work and hit me with it back in September. I just moved out and that was that." It's the truth. It was a pretty clean break, your name wasn't on the lease, you didn't have a pet or child together; it was as easy as packing up your clothes, a lamp and a coffee table and it's like you were never there.
"You find a new place yet?" You didn't expect Kevin to be so interested in your break-up, but you do get along best with him out of all of your sister's in-laws. You're close in age, goofy, and all too happy to play the part of doting aunt and uncle.
"Why, you looking for a roommate?" Kevin sighs like you just told a bad dad-joke, but you can see he's sincere so you back off. "Nah, I didn't, though. I'm just back with my parents for now until I can find something. The commute is killing me."
You unbuckle your seatbelt as he pulls into a space at the supermarket, he walks around the car to fall into stride next to you. "I have a place in Boston I never use if you want to use it. Just a one bedroom, but I could give you the key and you can pop in whenever you need it."
That's not what you were expecting, and you're stunned, but you say thank you and promise to let him know if you want to take him up on his offer. You only see Kevin a few times a year, but every time you leave, you wish he lived a little closer because you could see the two of you being good friends.
He picks up a shopping basket and walks over to the refrigerated section. "You can't get a log of cookie dough, Kevin. That's cheating."
He throws two in the basket. "I don't know how to make them from scratch. What do I look like, Emril?" You dig your hands into the basket and pull the logs of dough back out to put on the shelf.
"I'll teach you. They're better from scratch." He concedes and follows you through the store as you call Kris and take inventory on what she has and what you need. Apparently she hasn't been shopping in forever because you need everything except flour.
It feels nice to do such a domestic chore with someone so silly. He tries to sneak sour patch kids into the basket while you're in the aisle looking for chocolate chips. "Are you kidding me?" He looks around like he has no idea who could have put the yellow bag of candy in your basket.
"You're literally a professional athlete. How can you eat like this." He cracks open the bag of sour patch kids and pops a cherry one into his mouth. His lips pucker a little at the tart flavor, but it fades quickly and he chews happily.
"Just lucky, I guess. Still have this rockin' bod." He flexes a bicep, but it's useless under his fluffy sweater.
"You're an idiot," it is hilarious though, so you laugh and steal a sour patch from the open bag. "Let's go checkout, they're going to kick us out since you can't be trusted around a bag of candy."
You use self checkout and Kevin bags. He taps his Apple pay to the terminal before you can even get your credit card out of your wallet.
"I got it." He shakes his head at you, "You're gunna teach me, so I'll provide the materials," he takes the bag and you walk to the car side by side.
By the time you get back to your sister's house, you and Kevin are chatting happily about New Year's Eve plans after he mentions he'll be back in Boston for it. Maybe you want to see him again soon, so you don't hesitate to extend an invitation to the house party you're throwing while your parents are still sunning themselves on some exotic island.
"I mean, it's just a small group of friends. I think Kris and your brother are going to stop by for a little," you think maybe you're not playing this cool enough so you back off a little. "You could bring a plus one, obviously. The more the merrier."
You walk into the house behind Kevin, who is still holding all of the bags, and he is pushed back into you abruptly, pinning you against the front door with his strong frame.
"Uncle Kevin!" More Hayeses have arrived since you two left, apparently. He shifts the bags to his other hand and steps away from you, lifting up his niece and placing her on his hip."Hey pretty girl," he places a kiss on her fat little cheek and she giggles.
"Can I ask you a secret?" She says it solemnly and he nods and turns his head so she can whisper into his ear. In true childhood fashion, she cannot whisper for shit. "Is that your girlfriend?"
You laugh and steal the bags from Kevin's hands and head towards the rest of his family to kiss them hello. Jimmy chooses to answer her first, "That's Aunt Kris' sister." The little girl nods in appreciation at the new information.
"She's pretty like Aunt Kris. Uncle Kevin, she can be your new girlfriend." He pulls one of her pigtails and lets her down to the floor, "I'll be sure to ask, thanks for the good advice." She seems happy with his response and resumes whatever game she was playing with her grandpa before Kevin interrupted; it looks like guess who.
"Okay I'm going to make cookies, whoever would like to join is more than welcome." You finally make it to the kitchen and drop the bags on the island. Kevin is behind you a moment later.
"Sorry, she really liked Brooke. It's kinda hard to explain to a kid," he's mumbling through a totally unnecessary apology so you just cut it short for him.
"So you're not my new boyfriend? Is that what you're telling me? Because I don't appreciate you doing this on Christmas, Kevin. And in front of your family? Cheap shot."
Placing your hand on your hip you cock it out and he laughs, "Okay, okay, we can stay together until Valentine's day but then we're through."
"That's fair," you hold out your hand and shake his, biting back a laugh.
______
A half hour later finds you and Kevin rolling up your dough into balls and dropping it onto a baking sheet.
"These are way too close together. You know they expand when you bake them, right?" You go back over all the ones he did spreading them out.
"I don't know shit, look at me," looking up you see him holding out his hands gesturing to his sweater, which is covered in flour, white dusted all over navy blue.
You're staring at him and laughing when he reaches his hands behind his head and pulls the sweater over the back of his head and off and you maybe forget that it's rude to stare. He's wearing an undershirt, stark white against his skin, but it creeps up a bit as he's shucking clothes and you catch a peek of toned abs and have to avert your gaze before you make this sufficiently awkward.
By the time he's gotten his big, fat head out of his sweater you've gone back to spacing out the dough and doing your best to be cool. Like, you've obviously seen some abs before, they just haven't been attached to someone you actually enjoy and are maybe a little… attracted to?
This is a bad time for this revelation.
It continues to be a bad time for this revelation when his niece wanders into the room all changed into Christmas PJs. "Uncle Kevin," she tugs on his t-shirt, "I want to make cookies for Santa too."
He scoops her up and sits her on the counter next to the bowl. "Okay, watch how (Y/n) does it. She's a pro, taught me everything I know." He winks over at you and you grab a fresh baking sheet as he helps her wash her hands over the sink.
"Okay, first we take a little bit of dough like this," you grab a piece for you and a piece for her, but then Kevin holds out his hand too, so you grab another piece and place it in his outstretched hand. "Then we roll it up like this," you roll the dough in between flat palms and make it into a little ball.
"Wow," you see her doughy little hands making a wobbly shaped sphere and look at her amazed, "are you sure you haven't done this before? You're a natural!" She grins at you before turning to Kevin, who wears a matching mask of amazement.
"I never did this before, Uncle Kevin. Look I'm doing good!" He's got so much love in his eyes for his family that you can barely look at the two of them without your eyes watering.
After you pop the tray in the oven you all sit down for dinner, which is just everyone shouting over each other trying to be heard while passing the mashed potatoes around the table.
Kevin sits next to you on one side and his mom is on your other. She keeps glancing over as you chat with her son and you're feeling as self conscious as ever as she smiles at you when you start helping Kris clear the table for dessert.
She's whispering conspiratorially to Kevin over your empty chair as you place the mountain of chocolate chip cookies in front of him. He looks miserable.
Eventually the crowd thins out. Most of Jimmy's family lives close by in the suburbs and they'll be back early tomorrow. Apparently it's just you can Kevin spending the night, since he didn't want to drive back into the city.
When it's just you, Kris, Jimmy, and Kevin left, the baby long since put the bed, you all leave the dining room in favor of the cushy couches in the living room. You pick up the remote and scroll through the channels before putting on A Charlie Brown Christmas.
"Classic," Kevin turns his head towards you from where he's reclined on the couch to your right.
About halfway through, Kris yawns. She exhausted and you understand, but you never could fall asleep on Christmas Eve. "Go to bed, Krissy. We can take care of ourselves. You out-hosted yourself today, you earned it."
Jimmy stands and pulls her up off of the couch, "Let's go momma Hayes." She complies to him with no hesitation. Before she's halfway out of the room she's turns around and grabs a fleece blanket off of the decorative ladder against the wall and walks back to throw it over you.
"Kevin called the guest room. You get the couch," she leans down and kisses you on the cheek. "Love you," she hugs you before scampering off to get waiting husband.
You pause Charlie Brown. "You called the guest room, you absolute child??"
"We can share." He says it low, sleepy and raspy and from the back of his throat.
Choosing to ignore the warmth it sends through you, you pull the blankets up to your chin, "Bully."
Charlie Brown ends and Kevin pulls the the remote from your hand. "Let's make hot chocolate."
You follow behind him on stocking feet, quiet not to wake the baby or your sister. But then Kevin gets out a pot and pulls cocoa from a pantry and this is no Swiss Miss situation. So, you push yourself up onto the counter next to the stove and watch him move quietly about the kitchen.
"But you didn't know how to make cookies," you accuse.
"This is a secret family recipe." He adds all of the ingredients into the pot before opening the cabinet and hiding whatever he reached for in his big hand; he covers your eyes with the other and you can hear something get added to the pot before a cabinet door closes and you see Kevin stirring with a wooden spoon, looking at you.
"Secret ingredient. You can't know it." You bite the inside of your cheek and push your hair back off of your face.
"Is it Vanilla extract?" The smug look flattens out in his face and he squints his eyes at you.
"You're the devil." You laugh, leaning back on the counter before hopping down and over to the fridge.
"Do you think they have whipped cream" you're hopeful your sister would keep it on hand.
"Bottom shelf on the door," he's right and you spot it straight away.
He keeps stirring the cocoa and you pop back onto the counter and uncap the whipped cream before squeezing some out on the back of your hand. You slurp it off and point the can at Kevin when he looks over at you, still licking the back of your hand.
He tips his head back and opens his mouth, "No, gross you're not putting your mouth all over the nozzle." You slap at his shoulder.
"I have to stir the cocoa, (y/n)."
It sounds like a line and you're just about delirious enough to accept it, so you squeeze out a dollop onto the back of your other hand and put it in front of his face.
He tips his head down and sucks it up, and it's a lot less sexy than you imagined this whole exchange would be, but his eyes do catch yours and they're warm in a way that has nothing to do with the flame on the range.
The pot on the stove starts to boil and he turns off the heat and starts looking for mugs, while you try to figure out what the fuck you're doing hitting on your sister's brother-in-law.
He hands you a mug and starts to pour into it when you look up and see his stubble is coated in whipped cream.
"Uh, Kev," he put the pot gently back on the stove, "you've got a little," you gesture to above your lip, "here." He must be purposely obtuse when he attempts to get it off, missing entirely despite the size of his hand.
"No, here," you gesture again and this time he tries with his tongue, still missing the sugary cream by a mile.
"Help a guy out," is what comes out of his mouth. Not one to miss a golden opportunity, you lean over and run your thumb along his upper lip, corralling it. He tips his head up before you can pull your hand away and kisses it softly.
You tilt your head sideways, trying to figure out your next step, but all you can come up with is to outright ask, “Is this the part where we kiss?"
He nods soberly and steps in-between your knees where you sit on the counter, hot chocolate forgotten on the island behind him, and presses his lips to yours.
His lips taste like Christmas, sugary sweet and decadent like the cocoa on the stove. You wind your hands up into his hair, thankful that you're propped up on the counter since he's so much taller than you, you're not sure if you'd reach otherwise.
When his hands slide down from your waist to your hips you bite into his bottom lip and hear two things.
The first is a little moan, which you're sure came from Kevin, since you could feel it against your own mouth.
The second sounds distinctly like the clearing of a throat and came from somewhere to the left near the fridge. You gently back away from Kevin, head against the cabinet behind you and spot Jimmy, wide-eyed, but smirking, and holding a water bottle.
"Just wanted a drink," he holds the bottle up. "You guys can, uh- share the guest room… Just keep it down, it shares a wall with the baby's room." He practically swaggers away and you drop your head to Kevin's chest.
"Shit."
The next sound you hear is your sister screeching your name from her bedroom, closely followed by the resulting cry of a woken baby, and lastly Kevin laughing, clear and bubbling up through his chest where you're leaning.
"Yikes, tomorrow is going to be fun." He kisses the top of your head and helps you down from the counter. Fun indeed.

*.:。 task 004. family — the rosales ◥
the rosales aren’t a close knit family, but they’re also not a tragic family. the parents are deeply in love and happily married, the kids all get along, and they have a pet dog, but theres also a lot of negative energy that is never put up for show. rafael and sloan flores are parents to one girl and two boys, but their parenting towards their only daughter is significantly different compared to how they are with their two sons. being the eldest, teagan has a lot more responsibilities and expectations than her brothers and her relationship with her parents are drastically different. presley and diego are the rosales’ most prized and loved children, but teagan is just teagan. their family dynamic is loving and supportive, but the only family that’s truly loving and supportive towards teagan are her brothers (mostly diego). they’re not close, but they’re not distant. they have sunday dinner together and they go to all the games, science fairs, and stuff like that to support one another and show family unity, but that’s pretty much it. the rosales are your average family-- they’re not too close, but they’re not too distant. they’re content, but they’re not all happy. they love each other, but to what extent varies between each relationship.
rafael tobias rosales - father, capricorn
a biomedical engineer that believes that knowledge is everything. he believes in handwork and making decisions that'll make you successful rather than happy. rafael is a high key capricorn, fitting the stereotype completely by being responsible, independent, too serious, unimaginative, and a total workaholic. he's your average father figure that's strict, into sports, and is always tired whenever he gets home from a long day of work. rafael is into academics and sciences, but unlike teagan, rafael is more into the facts rather than the theories. he's way too serious and daydreaming isn't even in his vocabulary. he'll make jokes, but his humor is very dry and the only person usually laughing is diego because sloan doesn't find it funny, presley doesn't get it, and teagan is never around to hear it. he's a good father figure to the boys because he'll play sports with them and do the things that fathers do with their sons, but his role in teagan's life has slipped immensely as she got older and was no longer his little girl.
usually fathers refuse to stop thinking of their little girl as a little girl, but that wasn't the case for rafael and teagan. they used to be a close bond and teagan was definitely daddy's little princess when she was younger, but as she got older and got interested in boys and the basic teen stuff, their relationship cracked and it never got repaired. she used to be his little girl and rafael used to spoil her with all the love and toys that you could imagine, but things changed when teagan became a teen and her father was quick to cut all ties. as soon as she got older and was no longer a little girl, her father started treating her like an adult. she was no longer his little princess and he never treated her like she was a child. he gave her responsibility and trust, but he also seemed to take away the love and support he gave her as a child. he was proud of teagan for her outstanding academics and wanting to go into science, but was frustrated with her belief in aliens and conspiracy theories. she was into the facts, but not in the way that rafael wanted her to be. he wanted her to be the model big sister and the child that he could be proud of and show off and she was at one point, but things changed as she got older and their relationship shifted from a father/daughter one to more of a business associate. he saw her as the older sister that needed to be a good example for her little brothers and he's criticize her for every mistake she did. getting b's instead of a's, being too sick to come to class, choosing maui over an internship. everything she did was under a microscope and her father was quick to call her out. she went from being enough and his little girl to someone that never seemed to do enough.
sloan isla rosales (nee fuentes) - mother, scorpio
she came from a poor family and it wasn't until she married rafael was she able to know what it's like to be apart of the upper middle class. when she was younger, all she wanted to do was be a princes and do pageants and grow up to be a fashion designer or work with makeup and perfumes, but because she came from a poor family, sloan knew that she couldn't and that's why she chose to become an accountant because she knew that her dreams wouldn't bring in stable income and she refused to live the way she did when she was younger. although she chose to be an accountant, she's still very much into beauty and makes sure she's the prettiest one in the office and during the appointments. she'll show up in designer clothes she can afford and heels so tall that people look at her in amazement with how gracefully she walks in them.
sloan always wanted a daughter, but when she got teagan, teagan just wasn't enough for her. she wanted a daughter that was into the same things she was, but teagan was more into sciences, aliens, and conspiracy theories than she was into beauty and pageants. teagan wanted to enter the science fair and build lasers, but her mother wanted her in dresses and winning the tiara. teagan learned to love fashion as she got older, but by the time she tried to connect with her mom and form a close bond with her, sloan just didn't care enough to form one with her. sloan is a very loving mother to diego and especially presley, but she's very critical and cold when it comes to teagan and although teagan hates the heat, she'd much rather be the one in this position rather than watching her brothers go through it instead. teagan and her mother aren't close and her mother makes her question everything, but teagan still yearns for her acceptance and is constantly trying to be the daughter her mother wanted. teagan tries to act like the lack of motherly love doesn't affect her, but in reality it has everything to do with teagan's need to be loved and why she's constantly putting herself out there and entertaining people and talking and acting the way she does because she never got the love a mother was supposed to give her. sloan holds a lot of resentment against teagan because she wanted teagan to live the life sloan wanted to as a child, but teagan turned out different than her expectations of a daughter. sloan always wanted a beauty queen daughter, but got one that was in love with aliens instead. she wanted to be a stay at home mom and live lavishly, but she had to work and while she's not poor, slogans also not rich enough to support her dream lifestyle. she has three kids, but sloan puts all the resentment and hatred and jealousy and negative energy on teagan than the boys because at least the boys fit her expectations.
presley darren rosales - brother, leo
16 years old and currently a junior in high school. he's apart of the varsity football team, has a solid 3.0 gpa to keep him in the game, and a massive heartbreaker due to his look and position in the social ladder. he's the most high key leo you'll ever meet with his constant need for attention and the spotlight. he's a bit arrogant and painfully straightforward, but presley is also extremely energetic and optimistic. although it's usually the middle child that gets the least amount of attention, presley is definitely the favorite child of the rosales siblings and he's not afraid of using the favoritism card against his siblings whenever he can. he's the golden child despite his constant reckless behaviors. presley is almost untouchable when it comes to anything due to the favoritism, so he never hesitates when it comes to doing something he shouldnt because he knows the stakes aren't that high for him.
teagan and presley are your average siblings who fight and get along at a healthy amount. they're not exactly the best of friends and they're constantly butting heads, but they love each other nonetheless. presley is a big annoyance to teagan because of his attitude and his constant need to be the center of gravity. and because she's the eldest and is supposed to be the role model, teagan is often blamed for his reckless behaviors even though she wasn't involved with it in anyway. she dislikes presley for constantly getting her into trouble, but teagan knows it has more to do with her relationship with her parents than it actually has to do with her role as the big sister. he's also the brother that gets the most attached to the boys that teagan brings home because he always wanted an older brother, so whenever teagan undergoes a breakup, presley often sides with her ex rather than teagan, which creates a lot of problems and drifts between them.
diego hayes rosales - brother, virgo
15 year old sophomore in high school that's more low-key out of the three siblings. while teagan and presley don't mind the attention, diego tries his best to stay out of it as much as he can. he's your everyday virgo because he's studious and sensible, but diego is also incredibly petty and cold. he's the youngest, but he's treated as if he's the middle child. the parents love him, but their attention isn't on him unless he does something academically successful. he's the nhs secretary, sophomore class treasurer, and has a solid 4.0 gpa that he argues would be at least a 4.3 gpa if their school allowed a gpa higher than 4.0. he's into soccer, but he's not as athletic compared to presley and only joined the team because he knows a sport will look great in college applications.
teagan and diego are best friends, partners in crime, and each other's ride or dies to the fullest extent. although they're a trio with presley, teagan and diego are the closes out of the siblings and out of the family in general. they're opposites that compliment each other beautifully, but they also share a lot of the same qualities. she likes entertaining and staring the conversations while diego is more of a listener and will laugh at her jokes. she's more open than diego, but diego is still very humorous if he gets comfortable enough with you. they're both incredibly petty and often talk about their petty acts together or call each other out when they're being petty about something or to each other. although she's the eldest, diego is extremely protective of her when it comes to boys and their parents. diego tries to be the "big brother" and intimidate the boys she brings home. and because they're extremely close, diego knows how much damage their parents inflicts on teagan and he does his best to protect her whenever he can whether it means taking the blame, siding with her, or taking the fall with her so she's not the only one getting the heat. out of everyone, teagan loves him the most and has the closest bond with him. she loves presley with all her heart, but if it weren't for diego, then teagan would never visit home.

Meet Neviah Mogami! She’s a library assistant, working on her history degree to become an archivist who just happens to be a pixie princess… Literally. She decided that she wanted to break the boundaries between “myth” and “reality” and bring both species together to live in harmony. She believes in her heart of hearts that everyone should be loved and accepted as they are so long as they aren’t causing any harm to anyone. She has a bad habit of seeing the good in everyone and this isn’t always her best quality. It means she gets too invest in people, she’s willing to put all her energy into them even if it hurts her because she wants them to know that if no one else is, she’s dedicated and she’s willing to do absolutely whatever it takes to make sure the good comes out in them.Neviah is the girl that lights up a room, literally and figuratively. Whether it’s using her magic for the best of intentions, though it always doesn’t turn out that way but she sticks to it and does whatever she can to not let her good hear waver. She feels that she’s the protector to those who can’t protect themselves and chooses to be strong and bold for other people until they can do some themselves.
Emmett Hunter Hayes was an adopted street kid taken in my the country’s richest and most watched family. After the original Emmett Hayes went missing, his mom gave him up to this family in exchange for enough money to get a house and support herself long enough to get herself a decent job. However, the family did their best job to destroy any memory he had before going into their care. He feels as though there’s something missing but he can’t say what.He comes off as arrogant and invasive, but he somehow manages to be down to earth and wise at the same time. He has decent manners and an abnormal cadence considering sometimes he slips into this strange street/townie dialect that comes from nowhere. He chooses to ignore though. He’s seldom let out of the house willingly so he has a habit of sneaking out, dressing in townie clothes and roaming around. He manages to fit in rather well, despite the fact that he knows no other upbringing.
Extra because I thought of him for KoKo.
Akeno Komaeda. Akeno is reserved and relatively soft-spoken. He tends to come off as incredibly kind, generous, and approachable, but this is a bit of a mask. He’s rather dark on this inside and there’s no telling if it’s from losing almost all of his family or for being without the only family he had left. He doesn’t believe that there’s good in people He thinks that everyone without a doubt is trying to get ahead of everyone else. He plans to be the further-est ahead of everyone else. The only person he really and truly holds genuine affection for is his cousin and even then, he can’t help but be a bit paranoid when it comes to the other. Caring about someone is rather agonizing for him, but the fact he’d also lay down his life for the only family he has eases this quite a bit for him. Nagito is the only person he would happily allow ahead of him in any aspect of life.

10 New Year’s Resolutions for Busy (and Lazy) People http://bit.ly/2Da9HH1
The new year is a time for change. This annual milestone is typically accompanied by new goals, plans and objectives. Unfortunately, most people don’t keep their new year’s resolutions, often because the goals are so inconvenient that they become unsustainable. And if you’re busy (or lazy), it’s twice as hard to remain steadfast. However, we’ve compiled a list of relatively easy ways that you can make small changes in your home this year. Here are 10 new year’s resolutions you can keep.
Grow a Green Thumb

If you don’t have a green thumb, commit to buying at least one plant this year. And if you don’t kill it, you may discover that you actually like tending to plants. Besides adding beauty to your home, studies show that fresh flowers can lower anxiety and depression, and some of the best and easy-to-care-for indoor plants include Golden Pothos and Chrysanthemums. After you become more comfortable indoor plants, you may decide to start growing perennials, shrubs, and other plants in your yard.
Reduce Your Fire Risk

Appliance provide convenience, but they can also start fires. Commit to cleaning under and behind your appliances (refrigerator, washer, dryer, etc.) on a quarterly basis, and clean your dryer vents after each use. Not only will these actions help you avoid a fire, but they can also make your appliances operate more efficiently.
Make at Least One Small Decorating Change

If you haven’t changed your curtains or drapes in 10 years, you’re well overdue for a change. And simply swapping your shower curtain can make your bathroom look new, plus it might motivate you to make additional changes throughout your home as you work on your new year’s resolutions.
Organize and Label

These pretty glass containers can be purchased at almost any big box store, and the labels help you keep everything neatly organized. “The new year is the perfect time to set resolutions and get a fresh start on organizing your life and space,” explains Jacquie Hunter at P-touch, which makes the P-touch CUBE Label Maker. “Convenient features like pre-designed templates and auto-cut save you time, and the Bluetooth connectivity allows you to easily create customized labels directly from your phone to label kitchen ingredients, out-of-season clothing, holiday decorations and endless other items.”
Perform Painless Updates

With a simple screwdriver, you can change out the towel rack and toilet paper holder in your bathroom and the cabinet knobs and pulls in your bathroom and kitchen. With so many finishes to choose from, ranging from nickel and stainless steel to bronze and copper tones, this is another inexpensive way to update your home.
Save Electricity Without Thinking About It

If you hate having to get up off of the sofa to turn off the light or you keep forgetting to turn off the lights when you leave the house, consider a product like Deako Smart Lighting, which has schedules and timers so you can control your lights from anywhere. There’s also a neat feature that allows you to turn off all of your lights with a single touch. It’s a great way to save money on your electricity bill and, if you’ve added “saving” to your list of new year’s resolutions, it can make keeping your resolution a snap.
Avoid Clutter

If you hate having to clean clutter, here’s a thought: don’t let clutter accumulate in the first place. “Consider cleaning as you go,” recommends professional organizer Barbara Reich of Resourceful Consultants. “Get in the habit of picking things up and putting them away as you’re walking around the house and working in various rooms.” She also recommends putting items where you’ll actually use them. “You’ll have a better chance of putting items away if they’re stored where you take them out,” Reich explains.
Wash Wisely

“Stop putting dirty dishes and cups in the sink, and then putting them in the dishwasher later,” Reich advises. “Do a quick rinse and load the dishwasher in the moment,” she says. Reich also recommends filling the dishwasher properly, which means putting like items together. “If you do, emptying the dishwasher will take a literal three minutes,” she says. Using the dishwasher also saves more water than hand-washing dishes in the sink, another way to minimize utility bills and help you with your new year’s resolution to save money.
Pamper Yourself
Indulge in everyday luxuries. Image: Luin Living
One of your new year’s resolutions should be to take better care of yourself. You need to relax and refresh. “But it’s not necessary to go to a spa or luxury hotel to experience this type of indulgent feeling,” says Marie Alfano, Director of Operations at Luin Living USA. “You can create a spa or sanctuary environment every day in your own home with the right tools.” Luin Living makes towels, bathrobes, house shoes, candles, rugs, bed linens and an assortment of other comfortable yet stylish items to help you pamper yourself. Creating a relaxing environment can help dissolve those feelings of stress and anxiety and allow you to focus on what’s most important in 2019.
Embrace Minimalism

Minimalist design is uncluttered. However, minimalism is more than just a design style. “Embrace minimalism by having fewer possessions in your life,” says Reich. “Fewer items to take care of translates to more time to do what you enjoy.”
