#she can simply hide them with her bangs

One day I might make a somehow extensive headcanon about Jinhsi's self-care in terms of beauty, until then... While browsing through some moodboards, I've come with the thought that while she doesn't use make-up, she would to make her brows stand out more in moments when she wants to experiment with a different hairstyle that includes her bangs. If anything because white brows almost blend with equally pale skin to the point where it almost feels like they're inexistent when it's not the case.
#having a unique beauty has its perks#and she likes it that day#but boy the /brows/#she's beautiful#but she also takes care of her image#and brows are one of the facial features#that are visible the most#as well as determine expressions as well#the good thing is that most of the times#she can simply hide them with her bangs#bless brow mascaras#so she won't have to dye them directly#and risk them looking funny or weird

Rin, with a nice and cute girlfriend would be so funny tho
Rin usually wears monotonous clothes right? Like he never wears anything colorful, and they're mostly black, grey, white or a little bit of turquoise but tHAT'S BESIDES THE POINT
Then all of a sudden he comes to practice with cute keychains on his bag, a matching one with his girlfriend or even finds him with bow hair clips on his hair that pushes his bangs off his face since she said “it covers his handsome face."
And they meet her and they're so surprised that she's the total opposite of Rin, she's nice and cheerful, always smiling unlike her boyfriend who looks at everyone like they had committed a crime against him (that being them breathing in the same air as him)
Asking her why she's dating Rin then she just simply answered, "Oh, he's nice and sweet to me. He's such a good boyfriend honestly!" then they'd be like nICE, WHICH PART? WHEN AND HOW?
i should be reviewing for my upcoming exam this week and here i am thinking about blue lock boys, i have problems.
— 🪻
“𝐠𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐲 𝐱 𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞”
a/n: you're so real for thinking about blue lock boys instead of your studies bc that's also me i fear
but good luck on your exam! for working so hard in school, i hope i can make your day better and life a little less stressful! ❣️
rin was never one for color.
if his clothes had a soul, they'd be a monochrome masterpiece: black shirts, grey pants, white sneakers, maybe a touch of turquoise if he was feeling wild. but that was beside the point. everyone knew him for his quiet demeanor, his "resting bitch face," as his teammates liked to call it, and his constant air of "everyone is suspicious until proven otherwise."
then one fateful day, rin showed up to practice different. his usual bag was still there, of course, but now it had little keychains hanging from it – three, to be exact. one was a tiny panda, another a glittery star, and the third was a matching keychain, his rocket keychain, paired with one you, his girlfriend, gave him. and wait, was that a hair clip in his hair? a bow clip? what the heck was going on?
his teammates blinked at him, and some even choked on their water. "rin?" chigiri asked, eyes squinting. "what's... what's happening with your bag? and your hair?"
rin tugged at the clip awkwardly, looking a bit out of his depth. "uh, it's nothing." but you had told him he needed to wear it. "it covers your handsome face," you'd said. so of course he did. for you.
a couple of minutes later, everyone was gathered around in the locker room, and there you were – his girlfriend. if rin was the human embodiment of a cloud on a bad day, you were a sunshine explosion. bright, cheerful, always smiling, like you'd just woken up and realized it was your birthday every day. they stared at you, completely stunned.
“wait, this is your girlfriend?” reo asked, unable to hide the shock.
rin rolled his eyes. “yeah, yeah, stop staring.”
you just giggled. “he's always so serious, huh? but i love him! he's the best, nicest boyfriend ever!"
they all exchanged confused looks. "nice? nice?" bachira gasped. "which part? when? how??"
"oh, you know," you waved them off like it was no big deal. "he’s sweet, he buys me flowers. and he listens when i talk about my day. he’s a total softie."
his teammates froze, trying to process this. rin? a softie? the same rin who scowled at the vending machine for taking his last dollar?
“he’s nice when he wants to be,” you added, smiling at him.
rin was already blushing, awkwardly fiddling with his shirt as if it could swallow him whole. "okay, enough," he muttered, crossing his arms.
“come on, rin! you can’t fool them,” you teased, giving him a light nudge. “you always pick the perfect movie for our movie nights. remember the time you watched that cheesy rom-com just to make me laugh?"
rin groaned. "it was for you."
they all stared at him like he’d just announced he was secretly a superhero. a superhero.
“okay, okay,” isagi said slowly, “we get it. you’re, like, a secret softie. the world is full of surprises.”
rin sighed and adjusted his bow clip, silently questioning all his life choices. he swore if anyone took a picture, he was going to have a meltdown. but deep down, he couldn’t help the tiny smile tugging at his lips.
you had a way of making the world seem a little less grey.

Masterlist
Chris’ right leg wouldn’t stop bouncing. He didn’t even recognize that it was bouncing, but nonetheless the anxious tic was there. Seated in one of the comfy armchairs of the living room where his family was currently all huddled together, his eyes were glued to his phone, watching the time like a hawk.
He had arrived at his parents’ house in Sydney late the night before, and spent most of the following day trying to get past the inevitable jet lag and catching up with his family.
His mom was simply overjoyed to have her first born home, and was quick to ask him what he wanted to eat. His father greeted Chris with a huge bear hug, and immediately started telling him all about Berry’s new fame on instagram and TikTok.
Hannah hit him on the shoulder lovingly when she walked past him on her way into the kitchen, and he called after her “Nice to see you too, MONSTAH!” Luke was quieter, but happy to give his big brother a warm side hug, still idolizing him.
Now that the initial excitement had passed, and the family was back to a comfortable banter, Chris’ initial feeling of relief at being home quickly dissipated as the night crept upon them.
“What time did you say the neighbors were coming over?” He inquired, trying to sound nonchalant, though there was a subtle crack to his voice.
Glancing across to the clock on the wall across the room, Jessica sat up on the overstuffed sectional. “Oh shoot, any minute. Guess I should go get the snacks ready.” Pushing herself up to a standing position, she nudged Hannah’s foot with her own, cocking her head towards the kitchen. “Come help me,” she stated more than asked.
“Muuuuum… I’m a guest here too now,” Hannah whined dramatically, tipping her head back in disgust.
“Don’t care, C’mon.”
As Hannah grumbled but inevitably followed their mother into the other room, the front doorbell chimed.
“I’ll get it!” Chris yelped, getting up far too quickly to not be weird. Jack stood up simultaneously and watched his eldest nearly leap towards the front door, “oook…”
Running his fingers through his longer than usual dark hair, he took a deep breath before pulling the door open with a mega-watt smile, only to be greeted immediately by the overzealous teenager from next door.
“Channie!!!! You ARE home!!!” Mia exclaimed, launching herself at him, hugging his midsection fiercely. “Do you have any WolfChan stuff I can have?”
Chuckling nervously, he hugged her back warmly, though his eyes were searching the front porch and beyond for any signs of anyone else. “Where’s everyone else?”
“Slow…” she said, taking a step back to look up at him. “About the WolfChan stuff...” Chris nodded his head down to her. “Yeah, give me a bit and I’ll go look through my things.”
“Don’t let her harass you already,” came the deep voice of your father, a bottle of wine clutched in each hand as he rounded the corner from the front drive, stepping up the stairs. Right behind him was a shorter figure, heels clacking against the cement and long brown hair swaying behind her.
When your father stepped aside, Chris disappointingly saw your step-mother coming up behind him with a tray of homemade bread between her hands, and a fake, tooth-rotting grin. “Christopher… look how handsome you are,” she cooed predatorily.
Your father shifted one of the bottles under his arm to free his hand to shake Chris’ warmly. “Good to see you, been a while.” Chris nodded, bowing slightly, “it has… Happy early Father’s Day by the way.”
Druzella Your step-mom then handed the bread tray to her husband as she reached out to Chris, cold, thin fingers caressing his cheeks before she leaned in to kiss both sides of his face. “My my, you just keep getting more attractive every time I see you…”
Chris grimaced awkwardly, his nervous laughter bubbling out as he tried to back away from her grasp. “Th-thanks…” he stuttered, looking over her shoulder again to see if there were any other signs of life.
Noticing that no one seemed to be waiting for anyone else, your family walked into the house and Chris cautiously closed the door. “No Y/N?” He tried to sound disinterested, but was confused since he knew you were coming.
Mia turned her head to look back over to Chris, “her flight was late! Said she’ll order a ride over when she lands.”
“Ahhh,” Chris nodded, sighing, and then followed the rest of the group further inside.
About an hour or so later, Chris had finished his first glass of wine and everyone filed into the dining room to take a seat for dinner. Still, no sign of you. Choosing to sit at one of the ends of the table, he reached for another bottle to fill up his empty glass.
Lucas, always observant, watched his older brother. “You ok?” He asked quietly. Chan rarely drank alcohol, so his sudden interest was surprising.
Chris nodded his head, giving a small reassuring smile to his brother. Just as he was about to speak, Berry hopped up from her place near Jack’s feet and began barking, running towards the front door.
Seconds later, you walked into the dining room, and Chris would swear the world stopped spinning.
“Hey all! Sorry to keep everyone waiting…” you barely got to finish your statement before Mia jumped up from her seat and ran over to you, hugging you tightly around the waist as a loud NOONAAA!! came out of Hannah’s mouth. Laughing at the boisterous greeting, you flitted your eyes around the room to see everyone happy to see you.
Finally, spotting Chris at the far end of the room, you saw a softness in his eyes that was definitely out of place for this group of people. Instantly, you blushed, trying not to allow your gaze to linger on him too long.
“There you are Darlin,” Jessica said warmly, ushering you into the room with a wave of her hand. “We haven’t started yet, so perfect timing! And there’s an open spot between Chris and Hannah down there.”
“Thank you Eomeoni,” you said affectionately, leaning down to kiss both her cheek and Jack’s in greeting. Meandering over to the opposite side of the table where your father and step-mom sat, you bent down to wrap your arms around your father’s shoulders in a tight embrace from behind, kissing him on his cheek as well.
“Hey Princess,” he smiled, patting your arm in response. “Hi Appa,” you stood back up, eyes shifting down to your step-mom who barely gave you a half-smile.
Rolling your eyes, an expression caught by all three Bahng kids who snickered quietly, you made your way to the empty seat between Hannah and Chris, seated at one end of the table, and now Lucas across from you. “Hey you three…”
Lucas smiled shyly at you, “Hey Noona…”. Hannah, always outgoing, gave you one exaggerated look up and down, nodding her head in approval. “Slay, Noona.” You laughed, jokingly tossing your hair over one shoulder. “Bet.” Mia, who sat beside Lucas, groaned at your colloquialism, nearly slamming her face down in the empty plate before her. “NOOOO NOT AGAIN!!!”
Finally, you shifted to look over at Chris who was more subdued than normal, and unable to take his eyes off of you. “Hey Chris,” you said warmly, friendly, trying to keep up appearances.
“Good to see you again, Y/N.” He said quietly, but loud enough for Hannah to look at him with an expression of disgust. “Ew, Y/N,” she echoed, mocking Chris’ choice of names to address you. “… you too cool to call her Noona now?”
Chris started stammering, trying to come up with a way to back himself out of it. “I… I don’t know, she’s not that much older than we are now so it seems weird.” He shrugged, trying to play it off like no big deal. You on the other hand, couldn’t help but smirk at his desperate attempt to correct his faux pas.
Jessica chimed in from the opposite end of the table, quietly tutting at her eldest. “Chris… you know it’s a sign of respect.” He parted his lips to speak again, likely to apologize, but you put your hand up and shook your head a few times. “Really, it’s fine, I’m sure Chris still respects me,” you added, turning to look at him with a small laugh.
“I do!,” he replied quickly, “I absolutely do respect her!”
“See? Problem solved.” You smiled, trying to appease his mother and nosey siblings. Luckily, the conversation turned and everyone began speaking amongst themselves, long enough to not notice Chris blushing, and looking at you out of the side of his eye with a devious smirk. Under the table, you gave his foot a gentle kick, and let the dinner carry on.
Later, as the main course was finished and the dessert plates were being passed around, Chris subtly reached under the table and let the tips of his fingers lightly brush the side of your hand currently resting in your lap. Turning your head to look towards him, and then down at his hand, you shifted to put your opposite elbow on the table, resting your chin in your palm as you dropped your hand nearest to him, and interlaced fingers together.
The two of you kept your conversations with the others around the table going, but beneath, your clasped hands shared an intimate moment out of the prying eyes of your families.
Once all of the dishes were put away and the sun had officially set, Jack led the group out to the backyard, lighting a fire in the pit stationed in the center of their garden, with benches and adirondack chairs strewn about. Mia was distracted with her new WolfChan keychain, snapping pictures of it to send to her friends, while the three Bahng kids reminisced, teasing each other warmly.
You sat on a bench beside your dad, resting your head on his shoulder as you zoned out, watching the embers in the fire, mesmerized by the crackling of the flames. Your dad, who previously had been talking with Jack, glanced down at you. “You ok, Princess?”
“Yeah, I’m good. Just tired.” Pressing a soft kiss to the top of your forehead, he nudged you lightly. “You know you can go back to the house and relax, right? We’ll be back over here tomorrow more than likely.”
Out of his periphery, Chris watched the interaction and was desperately waiting for an opportunity to greet you properly, away from everyone else.
Nodding your head slowly, you sat up straighter and tapped your dad’s knee affectionately. “I think I will, thanks Appa.” Pushing yourself up to stand, you looked around at everyone and waved both of your hands slowly. “I’m gonna call it a night, but I’ll see you all tomorrow.” Turning towards Chris’ parents, you gave a short bow to which they both blew off as unnecessary. “Thank you for dinner again!”
While everyone else’s eyes were on you, Chris looked down to the glass in his hand, still half full of water and quickly dumped it into the grass beside him, and stood up. “I’ll walk you out, I need to get another drink anyway.”
Turning to look at Chris, you smirked. “Sounds good,” and then gave one final wave to the group before you walked back inside the house, Chris not far behind you.
You took a few steps towards the hallway when Chris’ free hand went to the slider door, ensuring it was shut all the way before he put his cup down on the nearest surface he could find, and followed you beyond the view of anyone outside.
“Finally,” he sighed, closing the space between you, and snaked his fingers through your hair, flattening his hand against the back of your head as he pulled you into a desperate kiss. You knew it was coming, but still, you hadn’t prepared yourself for how intensely he held you. His lips moved against yours hungrily, craving every inch of you he could touch and taste. Leaning into him, you moaned softly against his mouth which only further encouraged him.
Putting a flat palm against his chest, you tried to push him away a little, forehead against his as you tried to catch your breath. “Chris, someone could come in…”
“Don’t fucking care,” he said, lips melting against yours again briefly, his other hand wrapping possessively around your waist. “Missed you too much…”
Giving up your resistance temporarily, you wrapped both of your arms around him tightly, breathing in his scent. “I missed you too.” You murmured, nuzzling your nose against the warmth of his neck, savoring the stolen moment.
Chris knew where your heart was, but hearing you admit such things out loud always made him catch his breath. He tried to make time stand still, so he could do everything in his power to memorize the feeling of you softening for him, and trusting him. He never felt luckier than he did in those quiet moments where you let your guard down and let him hold you, physically and emotionally.
The slider door started to creak open, and you both heard a voice calling back out to the group outside, mumbling something about bringing another bottle of wine.
Immediately, you broke apart and stared at each other, trying to figure out what to do next. Not entirely thinking it through, Chris grabbed your hand and pulled you into the half-bath next to the front door, shutting it quickly behind you both. He crowded you up to the wooden door, your back now pressed up against it. One of his hands slid past your hip to turn the lock in the door, and the other brought his index finger to his lips, gesturing for you to remain silent.
You froze, unable to move in fear of making any noise, and not physically able to with Chris standing so close to you. Hearing the shuffling around in the kitchen, you silently gasped, looking up at him with fear in your eyes. He furrowed his brows, looking down to you in question. “I left my bag in the hall,” you mouthed.
Typically that wouldn’t be an issue - you could’ve easily pretended you had gone back next door to your dad’s house, and Chris could’ve claimed he had put himself to bed - or had locked himself in a bathroom. That wouldn’t have been suspicious at all. What was though, was the physical evidence that you hadn’t yet left the house.
He had no words, just simply pressed his forehead against yours, silently laughing at your current predicament. Maybe no one would notice?
With nowhere else to go, and nothing else to do, Chris placed his palms lightly on your hips, yearning just to touch you in any capacity possible. Your own hands moved to rest against his forearms, lightly dancing your fingertips up and down the expanse of his strong arms, up to his shoulders and back down again in slow repetition. Even though being locked in a bathroom was less than ideal, finally, you two had a moment of peace together.
Chris pressed a soft kiss to the tip of your nose, and your eyes fluttered shut, fingertips gripping his arms appreciatively in response to his tenderness. You stood there in each other’s arms, reveling in the silence for a few long breaths. Eventually, Chris tilted his head just enough to press a chaste, lingering kiss against your lips. Then another. And another.
Your eyes opened slowly to find him gazing down at you, a look of pure adoration in his face. Sucking in a breath, you inched closer to him and kissed him feverishly, now both of your arms grasping at each other, lips, teeth and tongues clashing together.
Everything else, the noise in the kitchen, your forgotten bag, both of your families, the notion that someone could find you, all seemed to fade away.
You carded fingers roughly through his hair, lightly dragging your nails against his scalp, causing him to moan quietly. Mumbling against his lips, you reminded him “quiet, baby.” He whispered in reply, “trying.”
Soon enough, Chris readjusted your stances, pulling you away from the door and up against the bathroom vanity. The room was small, cramped, but if you asked him he still couldn’t be close enough. Moments later, he gripped the back of your thighs and effortlessly lifted you onto the counter beside the sink, moving to stand right between your now parted legs.
He created a trail of open mouthed kisses starting from the sensitive spot right behind your ear, down the side of your neck, past your collarbone and right down the center of your chest accessible to him by the v-neckline of your dress. You pulled your lower lip between your teeth, watching him move down your frame so passionately.
Dropping to his knees, Chris used both hands to keep your legs apart, and pressed his full, soft, wet lips against both of your thighs, taking his time to creep further up towards your panty-clad, damp core. Finally reaching the apex of your legs, he paused, taking in the sight of your pale pink panties, already sheer from your arousal. “My girl… you’re drenched.”
Unable to hide the soft whimper escaping your lips, you breathlessly shushed him again. He heard you, but didn’t acknowledge you. Instead, he leaned forward and pressed his prominent nose right against the fabric, nuzzling into you lewdly. “Just like I remember,” he murmured against you, just before extending his tongue and dragging a long stripe up your clothed pussy.
You tipped your head back shamelessly, pressing one of your sandaled feet against his shoulder, hands resting against the cold quartz beneath you.
With another long, broken sigh from Chris, he pulled back just enough to tuck his fingers into the waistband of your panties, dragging them down your body and off both feet before discarding it into the sink beside you. At the sound of his zipper being lowered, you tilted your head back down and saw him standing between your thighs again, his hooded eyes boring into your own.
You parted your lips at the lust-filled look on his face, and then down to his hand, maneuvering his jeans open and freeing himself from his boxer-briefs. Languidly, he stroked his hand up and down his length a few times before he teased the tip against your silken folds, and then aligned with your wet entrance.
Pushing the fabric of your dress up over your thighs and bunching it around your waist, Chris tightly placed both hands on your hips and ever-so-slowly sank himself into your warm pussy. Hissing through his clenched teeth, you silently exhaled a sigh once his hips became flush with yours, and you brought one of your hands to his shoulder, holding onto him to ground yourself.
“Y/N,” he whispered, dragging out the last syllable of your name, steadying himself to pull back out of you. In this position, and with the glacial pace he had begun, you could feel every ridge and vein of his thick cock.
All you wanted to do was moan loudly, obscenely, but knew that this wasn’t the time nor place. Which was why the next time an audible sound was made by Chris, you brought your free hand to cover his parted lips and pressed your forehead against his. “Shhh, you need to, mmmm… stay quiet...”
Pinching his eyes shut, he nodded his head with your hand over his mouth and began to increase the pace of his thrusts, fingertips digging into your hips. You turned to your head to ghost your lips over the shell of his ear, and exhaled a hushed “good boy.”
Chris reflexively, audibly groaned against your hand, his hips faltering their rhythm, falling apart at the quiet praise you breathed into his ear, shuddering between your legs. You leaned back just enough to look him dead in the eye, and lightly smacked him against the cheek - stunning him momentarily motionless.
The look on his face darkened even more, if possible, and his fingers dug into your flesh tight enough to bruise just as he increased his tempo, fucking into you more fiercely than before. The combination of your approving words and then the harsh crack of your palm against his face was dizzying, and he had never been more turned on.
Moving one of his hands to the back of your head, he pulled you closer to him and your mouths moved against each other frantically, desperately fighting for dominance. Your uneven breath wasn’t silent, but still, Chris couldn’t help himself from eliciting filthy sounds no matter how hard he tried.
With his last falter, your hand blindly reached behind and to the side of you, searching for something to shut him up with.
Ahh… perfect.
Pulling back from his swollen lips, and just before he could moan again, you shoved your pale pink panties into his mouth, which had been left agape, as his hips snapped against yours. Chris blinked, dazed as he tried to register what his teeth were now sinking into.
And when he realized?
A muffled “fuuuuuuuckkk,” was made through the fabric, his eyes rolling into the back of his skull as he dropped his head, forehead against your shoulder. His movements became erratic, short and shallow, then long and deep, unable to control himself as he swelled inside your tight walls.
Watching him completely lose himself inside of you was enough to make you clench around him, the big, strong, collected leader he always was - falling apart for no one but you. It was intoxicating, and the sense of pride you took in knowing you were the one to cause him to break this way was more than you could describe.
Leaning forward, you wrapped both arms around him and pressed your forehead against his temple as he started to regulate himself again, a light sheen of sweat spreading over his forehead against his hairline.
Chris wrapped one arm possessively around your waist, tugging you even closer to him as the sound of skin slapping skin started echoing in the small room, and he brought his free hand down between your bodies, dropping his thumb to your clit where he began rubbing slow circles, your breath hitching in response. Against his skin, you mumbled “don’t stop, j-just like that… gonna cum…” breathlessly.
Clamping his teeth down onto your panties, and a small trail of drool leaked out of the corner of his lips as he concentrated his ministrations on your clit, determined to push you over the edge before he spilled inside of you.
Not long after, your grip around him tightened and you tensed, your spine straightening and head tipping back, lips parted in a silent cry, digging your heels into his ass as you came violently in his arms. Your pussy was clenching him like a vice, sucking him further in as you came, and Chris tried to keep rocking his hips into you through your climax, letting you feel every inch and wave of pleasure he could.
Once you started to relax and became more limp against him, Chris’ hands went back to your hips and he dug his fingers into your flesh, roughly fucking himself into you once, twice more before he stilled, balls-deep, and emptied himself steadily inside your still pulsing cunt.
You both stayed there, frozen, breathing unevenly as you came down from your respective highs, limbs tangled together and torsos pressed against each other. When you felt him take a deep, calming inhale, you leaned back just enough to pinch your panties between two fingers and gently pulled the material, now soaked with his spit and saliva, from his mouth.
Chris lifted his eyes, once again soft, satisfied, smiling shyly to you, stretching his jaw a little as it had been so tense, clamping down to silence himself. Your fingertips went to the sides of his face and gently began massaging at his tight muscles, helping him relax them again.
Just then, you heard the slider door slam shut again from outside your hiding space, and the voices were no longer present. You and Chris made eye contact before simultaneously, breathlessly laughing at yourself and your recklessness.
Reaching for one of the hand towels just to the side of the sink beside you, Chris then turned on the warm water and got the cotton fabric damp. Reluctantly, after turning off the faucet, he finally pulled himself out of your warmth, and quickly brought the towel between your legs. Cautiously, lovingly, he took his time cleaning you up before attending to himself, and then tucked himself back into his jeans.
With a deep sigh, he pressed his lips gently to your forehead adoringly. “Wish you could just stay with me tonight…” he whispered, lips brushing your skin.
“Me too, Romeo… me too,” you admitted quietly.
Finally, he helped you down off of the counter and smoothed your dress back down over your hips and legs. “I think you have something of mine,” you whispered teasingly, referencing the panties he had gripped in his hand.
“Oh, these? No, these belong to me now,” he grinned devilishly, tucking them into his front pocket. “Souvenir,” he added with a teasing wink.
“Pervert,” you snickered.
“Your pervert,” he replied, kissing you softly. With one more exhale, he reached for your hand and gave it a squeeze. “Let me make sure the coast is clear.”
You nodded, standing behind him as he pulled the door open and looked down the hallway in both directions, pausing for any signs of life.
With a simple tug of your hand, he stepped out of the bathroom and you followed him closely behind. Walking you towards the front door, Chris let go of your hand to bend down and pick up your bag.
You stepped to the front door, and turned to face him, extending your hand to take your luggage from him. “I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?” You said, still quietly, but not as concerned if anyone were to see you standing and simply talking to him.
“Promise,” he added, handing you your bag before he stepped up to you and kissed you one last time. He lingered longer than he should’ve, but he couldn’t help himself and the way he was so addicted to you.
Finally taking a step backward, he opened the door for you and watched you step out. “Sweet dreams, Sweetheart.”
You turned to look back at him over your shoulder and winked before stepping off the porch and around the front of the garage, headed back to your childhood home next door.
Chris slowly shut the door once you were out of sight, and waited there, resting his head against the wooden frame as he tried to catch his breath again.
And that’s when he heard the voice, echoing his words, coming from somewhere behind him.
“Sweetheart?”

Hi! I was wondering if you could do poly!marauders with a clumsy s/o? Thank you!
Thanks for requesting love!
cw: blood
poly!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 1.4k words
“I’m going to purchase one of those leashes for unruly toddlers,” James says, thick lashes nearly touching as he squints down at your hand. “And I’m going to keep it around my wrist at all times.”
“It won’t be as good at catching me as you are,” you point out. You do your best not to wince as he picks a piece of gravel out of your palm, but his eyes flick up to you anyway, an apology in them.
“No, but at least I’ll be able to keep you close.”
You laugh a little. “I trip whether you’re nearby or not.”
“Beg to differ.” He sounds bitter, but James has always had a terrible poker face and the uptilt of his lips betrays him. He spreads ointment over the cuts on your hand before bandaging it. “If I was with you, this would’ve never happened. Guaranteed.”
“Yes, it’s all your fault.” Remus comes in from the kitchen, maneuvering carefully so as not to get the hot mug he’s carrying anywhere near James. He sets it next to your thigh on the bathroom counter. “Jamie,” his tone is chiding, a bit tired, “why have you started with her hands? She’s bleeding down to her ankles.”
“It’s nearly dried anyway,” you say, looking down at your shredded knees. Remus feels too bad for you to give you one of his worse reprimanding looks, but his eyes convey tremendous exasperation nonetheless.
“Because I knew she’d need her hands to hold her tea,” James replies, bumping Remus’ hip lightly with his. “Ease up, I’ve got it. Did you make yourself some tea too?”
Remus glances towards the kitchen the way an old captain might gaze at the sea. “I thought about it…”
“Do that,” James says. He finishes up with your other hand, bandaging it carefully. “Actually, would you mind just putting a kettle on? I’ll have a cup, and Sirius might want one too.”
You frown at that, but neither of your boyfriends see, Remus going into the kitchen with renewed purpose and James smiling slightly to himself as he finishes wrapping your hand.
“One of these days,” he whispers, backing up a bit so he can work on your knees, “you’re going to have to sit on the couch and feed Remus chocolates for all you put his heart through. We’ll be lucky if the next time you fall he doesn’t have an attack.”
“What’s Sirius coming here for?” you ask.
“Well, he does live here.”
You give him a look, but he doesn’t glance up from cleaning the blood off your shin. “He’s supposed to be shopping with Marlene.” Accusation and betrayal line your words. “You texted him?”
James looks up at you now, sympathetic if not quite sorry. “You know I had to. He would’ve murdered me if he’d come home and seen you all bandaged up and nobody had told him.”
“You could take him,” you grumble.
He laughs. “I don’t know, sweetheart. He fights dirty.”
You laugh too, though it’s more a humorous huff. “He can’t come home every time I trip,” you say, twisting the string of your tea bag around your index finger. “It’s not like I need to go to the hospital.”
James works a larger piece of gravel out of your knee, eyebrows knit together by compassion. “He worries,” he says simply. “He wants to come home every time you hurt yourself, though if you recall, I didn’t tell anyone about you banging your head on the microwave door yesterday, or about when you fell on the stairs last week.” He looks up, grinning when you shrink, abashed. “But when you fall this bad, it’s a bit harder to hide. Sorry, lovie.”
It’s a double apology, for ratting you out and for the sting of the ointment he smears over your knee. You hiss through your teeth. “Fair enough,” you say. James smooths a large band-aid over the series of shallow cuts, kissing the skin just above it for good measure. “I just don’t like to worry him. Any of you, if I can help it.”
He shrugs. “I don’t think you can,” he says. You get what he means. Remus is a worrier, Sirius even more so, protective by nature and nurture. And each of your boyfriends cares about you too much to ignore how often you hurt yourself, even if you really think they should be desensitized to it and annoyed with you by now. “But I’m trying to get you cleaned up before he sees you, so hopefully that’ll help.”
Like James has just issued a summons, the rumble of Sirius’ bike comes from outside. James grimaces as it slows to a stop.
“I hate that fucking thing,” Remus growls from the kitchen.
James shoots a sad smile in that direction. You think that you might not single-handedly cause Remus’ heart attack if Sirius gets there first.
“Where is she?” Sirius calls as soon as he comes in the door. “I assume there’s a blood trail for me to follow?”
James chuckles. “I told you it wasn’t that grim,” he shouts down the hall, and a second later there are heavy footsteps coming toward you. You brace yourself.
“Fucking hell.” He halts just in the threshold of the bathroom, then seems to change his mind, striding over to you. His eyes are glued to the bloody mess of your uncovered knee. “Darling, what did you do?”
You knew what to expect from him, and still your voice comes out smaller than you mean it to. “I missed the curb going out to get the mail,” you say.
Sirius’ eyes lift to yours, widening. “You fell into the road?” You nod. “You could’ve been hit by a car!”
“There weren’t any cars.” There are almost never any cars on your street, and he knows that.
“You’re lucky there weren’t,” he says anyway, holding his hand out. You place one of yours in it obediently, palm up. There’s a bit of blood marring the beige bandage, and Sirius makes a terribly soft pitying sound. “Your poor, lovely hands.” He runs a careful finger over the covering. “How bad was it?” he asks James.
“I told you, not horrific,” James says, finishing with getting the debris out of your knee and twisting the cap off the ointment. He looks up to be sure you’re ready before he starts smoothing it on.
“Stitches?”
“Oh, tons. She’s held together more by thread than skin at this point.”
You roll your eyes, but Sirius coos, “My poor sweetheart,” and grabs hold of your face to plant a kiss on your lips. You must look as pleasantly surprised as you feel, because he does it again, bending forward to avoid bumping his hip into your knee.
His thumb sweeps across your cheek as he pulls away, brows furrowed. “Does it hurt?” he asks, and now the mirth has disappeared from his tone. You don’t know how Sirius does that, going from teasing to not in a blink.
“Not so badly,” you tell him.
He hums, stroking your face again. “Would you tell me if it did?”
You feel your lips twitch, and Sirius’ eyes narrow like he knows your answer before you’ve spoken. “Probably not,” you admit, “but it really doesn’t.”
He stares you down for a minute, murky eyes scanning yours for traces of untruth, his dark brows lowered. You reach up to slot a piece of hair behind his ear, and he cracks, mouth kicking up at the corner.
“Alright, drink your tea before it gets cold.”
“I’ve actually made tea for everyone,” Remus calls, not from the kitchen this time but from the living room. “And snacks, so please come eat them.”
James grins, touch moving up the back of your knee to your thigh as he stands. “Excellent,” he says eagerly. “You’re all fixed up, m’love. Let’s go take care of Rem now.”
You start to hop down from the counter, but Sirius says, “Wait, wait!” and grabs you by the hips, keeping you in place. “Can you walk?”
You nod, because duh, your legs are scraped, not broken, but Sirius looks to James, the both of them frowning thoughtfully.
“Best not to risk reopening them,” James decides, scooping you up off the counter.
You huff a laugh, rolling your eyes. “Thank you,” you say, rather than this is deeply unnecessary and you’re being ridiculous. James seems to hear both anyway, planting a sloppy, smiley kiss on your cheek. Sirius, satisfied, follows you down the hall. “I didn’t mean to make you my manservant, I swear.”
“Happy to do it,” he says. “Now drink your tea, it’ll make Rem feel better.”

A/N - I'm not sure about this one or maybe I'm just insecure about my writing rn idk. this is my 7th van palmer fic, you guys not getting sick of them yet??
WARNINGS - Swearing, vague allusion to a volatile home life, homophobia and confusion about feelings

Nine PM. That is what the clock says as you slump further down in your seat. An array of paper paired with the books you had borrowed from the library, scattered across the small desk space, illuminated by the harsh yellow of a desk lamp. It feels like you have been sitting here forever. Trapped in an endless discussion about the themes and symbolism within old Shakespearean plays and how best to present them. Taissa had always been very bossy regarding school projects, but it's outweighed by her innate desire to be right. Her opinion held more value than anyone else's. So, no matter what you suggest, the other will simply tell you that it is a good suggestion before explaining how her idea was superior. At this point, you would much rather escape to the comfort of your bed, but you had to finish your half of the work before tomorrow, or Taissa would have your head on a stick.
"I just don't think-" An abrupt bang against your window almost makes you drop the phone. Pausing the conversation to look around your otherwise empty bedroom.
"Think what?" Taissa questions.
"Sorry, uh," You turn back to your work, raising the phone to its correct position against your ear. "that we need to go into that much detail if we want-" Another bang makes your heart leap. "one sec," dropping the telephone down onto the desk, you cautiously approach the window. Peeking out slowly in case it was some weirdo or a mass murderer. Even more surprising, you find Van Palmer standing in your garden. Butterflies immediately start to flutter low in your stomach. This couldn't be real. Why would Van be at your house this late? She waves up as you push the window open, hands perched on the sill as you lean out.
"Van?"
"Hey," She whisper yells.
"What are you doing here?" You yell back, trying to be as loud as possible without disturbing your parents. The girl just shrugs. "How did you even find my house?"
"Asked Shauna." What? Was Shauna just giving out your address willy-nilly to the other girls on the team? "Can I come up?"
"I don't know- give me one second." You rush back to the phone, hauling it to your ear. "Tai?"
"Hello?"
"Can I call you back?"
"Why? What's happening?" She wonders. "We need to finish this project."
"I know- I'll be quick."
"You better call me back," Tai insists. "You know how easily distracted you can get."
"Alright- yep, bye,"
"Bye-" Words cut off as you drop the phone back down against the receiver. Going back to the window, you now find Van clinging to the windowsill for dear life. Did she climb up the wall to your room? Was she insane? You hadn't even said she could come in.
"Jesus, you're fast,"
"Can you... help me- up?" Reaching for her upper arms, you take some of her weight and awkwardly assist in her dumb decision to scale the side of your house. Hands slapping against the floor, legs dangling outside, she crawls slowly onto your bedroom floor. You take a few steps back to give her space, unable to hide the confusion on your face.
"What are you, Spider-Man?"
"Maybe," Van says, standing up and brushing herself off. "This would be the part where you patch me up and we ignore the unbridled sexual tension as you so lovingly take care of me."
A joke that makes your cheeks burn. "Are you hurt?" Her head shakes. "Then what are you doing here?"
"Oh, so if I were, you would take care of me?"
"I mean... yeah, probably." Was she expecting anything different? "Wouldn't want you bleeding out on my floor."
"Good to know,"
"What are you doing here?" You ask again. "What if my mom came to the window instead?"
"Your parents are downstairs. I could see them when I walked past," Van explains. "The light was on up here, so had to be you."
"What if it had been the wrong house?"
"But it wasn't," Van insists, a flash of her pearly whites. You search her face for some kind of explanation. Like her eyes would tell the story of why she was climbing through your window at nine at night. They were red around the rim, a little bloodshot. Puffy cheeks with a hint of a shine in the dim light.
"Have you been crying?" It was obvious she had been, but what was the cause? Your eyes narrow. Inspecting further, but the red head spins sharply on her heel, breaking your view.
"Can I... stay here tonight?" Your heart beats a tad faster. Ambushed by the question. Could you really say no to a girl who needs help? Someone, you just said you would help if she needed it? Smart. Sneaky.
"I don't- I'm not sure my mom will let you. It's so late and a school night, so..."
"She doesn't have to know." Van takes a few steps around your room. Eying the walls. Judging your space.
"Van-"
"I'll sleep on the floor and leave real early."
"Van." It was one thing to hide a person for a couple of minutes, but all night? That was work. You were never particularly sneaky. And if your parents asked, you weren't sure you could lie convincingly.
"Please, "A frantic plea with a sharp turn. She is no longer smiling. You see sorrow in her eyes. Sincerity. Desperation. "I can't..." You wait for her to continue, but she doesn't. She won't. Swallowing down any sort of confusion. You cannot send her away. It would be cruel.
"Okay," you nod a little. "But you have to be quiet." You don't know what your parents would do if they knew you were letting people sneak in through the window. They obviously wouldn't throw Van out on the street, or at least, you hope they wouldn't. You would probably be in trouble, though, and you didn't want that. The corner of her lips curl up ever so slightly.
"I can do that." Your gaze lingers on her as she continues her journey around your room. How long had she been wandering around? And why did she decide to come to your house, of all people? You weren't exactly super close. Not in the way she is with some of the other girls.
"Are you hungry?" You ask. It felt like the best way to help right now, but she just shrugged. "I'll go see what we have. You stay here. You can borrow some clothes if you want."
It's a relief to exit the room. Hesitating against your closed door like you've trapped some kind of monster inside. Your stomach is surely making it feel that way. Anxiety like an endless pit. Fuelling every step as you navigate the halls of your home as quietly as possible. It was weird to think of the girl upstairs. Van Palmer was in your house. In your bedroom. Admiring your possessions. Looking through your things. You had always found Van to be a particularly interesting case. She wasn't quite like the other girls you knew from the soccer team. She was clumsy; imperfect. No desire to hide the messy parts. With bright red hair and the style of a teenage boy, you've always admired her. Wasn't afraid to express herself. Make jokes. Tease the guys. Van was special, but being around her made you nervous. Perhaps that's why you weren't as close as you might like. She makes your stomach churn. Your cheeks flush. Your heart beats that little bit faster. As you enter the kitchen, you half expect to hear your mom's voice. Each slow step in anticipation of your inevitable capture. But all is well as you open the cupboards and search the fridge. You find a sandwich that was probably for your lunch tomorrow and decide to take it. You could just make another in the morning. Grabbing a plate before sneaking back up the stairs and into your room. Van is still wondering about although she seems to be particularly interested in your mirror.
"This you?" You find a space on your desk to place the sandwich as you walk over. Your mirror was decorated with decade-defining stickers of varying electability alongside different photographs. Van has honed in on one in particular and is offering it out. It shows two kids standing on the sidewalk at night. One was dressed as a blue and red robot. The other is a yellow robot. They both had jack-o'-lantern-shaped plastic buckets in their hands.
"Yeah, that is," you point to the little yellow one, "and that's Shauna, believe it or not."
"Shipman?" You nod, looking down at the picture. It's a really old photo, but adorable.
"Mhmm, don't ask why we're dressed as Transformers. Probably my dad's idea." You express fondness.
"I didn't know you two had been friends that long,"
"Oh yeah, for as long as I can remember," You and Shauna had a long history. Your parents, as far as you were aware, had been friends before you were even born, so it's no surprise that you two ended up friends. You spent a lot of time together growing up. Always at each other's houses. Holidays spent with each other's families. You weren't together as much as when you were little. Jackie Taylor probably played a part in that, but you were still close friends. Your moms were still friends. "My mom has whole albums of us together." You step forward to take the picture back up and admire the rest. They ranged from when you were small to the present day. Photographic evidence of your growth.
"Cute," Van comments. "Where's that from?" She points to a small strip you got from a photo booth. It had three photos in succession of you alongside Taissa. You were just messing around. Killing time. It was one of the more recent additions to your collection.
"A while ago. She was staying over, and my mom dragged us to the mall." You shrug. "We look cute. I really like how they came out."
"You have a lot of pictures." She declares, looking entirely around herself as if your entire room was just covered in photographs. It wasn't. But there were quite a few. You like having little moments of the past scattered about. They transport you back to a happy instant.
"I'm sentimental," You giggle a little.
"And yet none of me," Van adds casually. "Must not like me." A bold question as she takes the plate from your desk and sits on the edge of the bed. Placing it down in her lap.
"I- I wouldn't say that." You respond quickly. It wasn't a result of not liking Van. Quite the opposite in fact. You didn't really have any pictures together anyway.
"Seems like it," She takes a big bite
"Van,"
"I'm just messing with you," Mumbled out through a mouthful of bread. Thankfully, she swallows before continuing. "There's so many of you and Tai."
"Well, we're friends, so,"
"That's all?"
Your brow furrows. "What do you mean?"
Van shrugs, taking another bite. "Thanks for the food."
You debate inquiring further, but decide not to dwell on it. Some things were better left unknown, and maybe she did mean nothing by it. "No problem. Sorry, it's not more. I couldn't find much."
"This is fine." You let her enjoy tomorrow's lunch. Awkwardly standing in the middle of the room with no idea where to go from here. What does one do when a stranger seeks comfort in their room at what is now almost ten? Should you ask? Do you even have the right to? Her showing up like this surely gives you that right.
"So..." Hummed softly as you took a seat next to her on your bed. "Do you wanna tell me why you just showed up at my house?" Van's movement stops, dropping what's left of her sandwich onto the plate. You're looking at her, keep her head down.
"I was just wandering about." She eventually responds. Voice especially reserved.
"So late?" It was nineish when she arrived. Your parents trusted you, but they would never let you wander the streets alone at this time of night.
Van turns to you. "Sorry."
All you can do is sigh. Not exactly the answers you were looking for. "Don't apologise. I'm just worried about you." You watch Van finish off her food. They really were such a mystery to you. It's only now, as you sit in silence, do you notice the addition to her outfit. A navy blue hoody with the school mascot on it. You're pretty sure she was only in a T-shirt before. "Is this hoodie mine?"
"Yeah, you said I could borrow something, but nothing was really my style. Found this in the back." Must be an old hoody, you don't even remember ever wearing it. "That okay?" You nod, getting up, and you decide to return to your project. You had wasted about an hour dealing with Van. Valuable working time. "What are you working on?"
"Homework," You tell her. "Tai and I have a project due, and before you interrupted, we were discussing my part. I don't have much left."
"Oh, I will stop being a distraction then." Your eyes survey the work you left spread out, trying to recollect your thoughts from before. Trying to remember what you and Tai had been discussing. You should have been finished by now. Could have been in bed. It's harder to focus with another person in the room. It feels like you're being watched, but you get to work as best you can. You can hear van rustling about behind you like a restless puppy. You try to ignore her. Tai will be mad if you don't finish.
"Are these all yours?" You glance back to find Van leaning over the edge of your bed, rooting through a box she'd half dragged out from underneath. "You have so many." She has pulled out a black VHS tape. Most of them are probably your parents, you weren't much of a collector. Your parents bought you films you really liked.
"Some are my parents, they get mixed up easily- why are you under my bed?" She puts the tape back but continues looking through the others.
"Bored." Van declares.
"It's only been like five minutes," Maybe ten, but the point still stands that it hadn't been very long.
"That's basically forever." She pulls out another tape, opening the case briefly before examining the back. "Can we watch one?"
"It's a little late," You insist. Van drops the tape and pushes the box back under the bed. Dangling over the edge, you turn back to your work. "Can you stop?"
"Why? What are you hiding down here?"
"Nothing- I don't know- just stop." You hear her chuckle. Peeking back as she sits up.
"You're so silly," Van comments. You wonder if that's a compliment or not. "Can we do something fun?"
"You can sit quietly while I finish this." You propose. "That's fun."
"Boring," She sing songs loudly.
"Shush," You huff. "My parents are gonna hear us." Van sighs loudly this time and you do the same. "Van, I really need to finish this. Tai will kill me if I don't."
"Always about Tai." Van hums. "What about me?"
Gosh, she was relentless in her pursuit of disrupting your workflow. You glance back at her, sitting cross-legged in the middle of your bed. Why was she so bothered by your friendship with Tai? "I'd also like not to fail." You express. "Why don't you try going to sleep or something?"
"You hate me."
"I don't hate you,"
Van smiles playfully. "Can I have some paper or something?"
"Why?" You question. Knitted brows.
"Something to do while I wait," She shrugs. A piece of spare paper and a small pencil from your case, you offer them out. Van crawls across the bed to collect the items.
"Can you let me finish now?"
"Course," Thankfully, Van Palmer seems to be a woman of her word this time around. As quiet as a mouse as you flip through pages and scribble things down. You're tempted to call Tai, but it's late, and with Van here, it would just feel awkward. You manage to finish, but not before the clock shows eleven. You should probably head to bed. If your parents come upstairs and find your lights still on, they'd probably tell you off. Turning back to Van, she's now lying down on the bed with all her attention on whatever she is working on. You stand up and walk on over. Lying down on the bed right beside her. Looks like she was drawing a picture. You reach for the paper, and she stops, but doesn't stop you; you pull it away to inspect it. It was clearly a person or an attempt at one, at least. Rough lines of graphite intersect much softer strokes.
"Whose this?"
"You," answered plain and simple. Suddenly, the lines come together in your brain, creating an image as she describes. A picture of you. Messy and imperfect, but she still chose to draw you.
"Me?" You question quietly, although it was mostly rhetorical. "Why did you draw me?"
"You looked pretty." Heat rushes to your face. The thumping of your heart. Van rolls over onto her back, looking up at you now. "It's not very good. I was just messing about."
"I..." All the words you can think of die in your throat. A testament to the power of a compliment when it comes from the right the right person. Lucky for you, Van changes the subject.
"So you're done with your work?"
"Uh," You place her drawing down, looking over at her. "Think so."
"So now what?"
"Bed." Answered plainly. "We have school tomorrow, and my mom will probably come in at any minute."
"Boring," She groans, but at least it's quieter than before. You ignore her, grabbing a pillow off your bed and tossing it on the floor alongside your blanket.
"Sorry, you have to stay on the floor. I'm just worried about my parents seeing,"
"It's fine," The redhead rolls onto her front before getting off the bed.
"Do you need another pillow or more blankets? I probably have some somewhere." You offer. Van is already making herself comfortable on the floor. Fluffing up the pillow and wrapped herself up in the blanket. You watch her for a moment. The blanket was pulled all the way up to her shoulders. A soft smile on her lips. A bad feeling about the fact that you're making her sleep on the floor. It can't be very comfortable, but if your mother comes up and sees her, you'd be in a lot of trouble. Getting down, you switch off the light before climbing back into bed. An eerie stillness envelops the room as you lie snuggled up in your bed. This wasn't how you saw your night going. Didn't expect to have Van Palmer sleeping on your floor. You wanna know more. Worried about why she'd be walking the streets at night, but you also don't wanna force her to talk about it. It feels awkward having her down there. You wonder if she is feeling it too.
"Van?" Asked quietly. Cautiously. "Are you okay?"
"Yep, it's not so bad down here. I can see all the secrets you keep under the bed." She teases. Ever the jokester. It's off-putting to your true intentions.
"Did..." Was it even your place to ask? What if she takes it the wrong way? Your fingers tighten around the fabric of your duvet. Holding it like a protective shield around your body. "Did something happen at home?"
The silence that follows makes your stomach churn. Had you overstepped? Did she get you now? "Everything's fine." She bites. "We should sleep."
"Okay," You say quietly. Sinking further into the bed. "You... you can talk to me, y'know? If you ever want to." Van doesn't answer. You don't bother her with it anymore. But you can't help but peek over the side of the bed. She's turned away from you. A strip of moonlight made the deep red of her hair almost glow in the darkness. You really should have shut the curtains or something. You linger a moment. Admiring her in her calmness.
"Do you like Tai?" She questions abruptly. Catching you in the act of staring as she moves to lie on her back. Immediately, you retreat back to safety.
"W-What?"
"I won't tell anyone, I swear," Van declares rapidly. "Just kinda seems that way."
Does it? Is that the impression your friendship gives off? "No," said a little too defensively. Too sharp not to seem offended. "No. Why would you say that?"
"Tai is beautiful and cool? You have like a million photos of her and you're always around her," Van explains. "Like I get it. Better than anyone."
You table your suspected crush on Tai to pull the focus back to Van. "What do you mean better than anyone?"
"Are you serious? Half the school thinks I'm a dyke. I don't really try and hide it."
You'd be lying if you said you had never heard rumours about Van, but that was just childish gossip. This was Van actually confirming it.
"How did you..." You hesitate. Voice quieter. "Know?"
"I think I've always sorta known," Van replies. "Also, the first time I saw Jessica Rabbit was crazy," You laugh a little at the thought of a very young Van Palmer being in love with a cartoon. It was cute. "I've never really met anyone like me, though, but then I saw how you are with Tai. Got me thinking. I'm nothing like Tai."
"Van, I don't like Tai," You state. Tai was really great, but you've never really thought about her that way. It had never been crossed your mind. Then again, maybe that was more because you didn't like to think that way at all. It seemed almost shameful to think of girls that way. Like you're doing something wrong. The only time those thoughts seem to get loud is when you're around Van. She makes them harder to push down with her cute, stupid little face. Her stupid, infectious smile. Every time she makes a dumb joke or makes a clumsy mistake.
"My bad," Van interrupts your thoughts. A faint creak hits your ear. "I-"
"Wait," You shush her. A tense silence. Maybe you misheard? Your bedroom door creaks open a crack. Your parents must be heading to bed. They always check. Lucky for you, it's not a very thorough one tonight. Your door closes again, and you let out a relieved sigh. You had gotten away with it. Peering over the edge, Van's eyes are closed tight. "Van," You whisper. She doesn't respond. You wait. She doesn't respond. Guess the conversation is over. You don't want to continue probing. She looks so peaceful, but there's no way she was asleep yet. "I think... I might like you," You admit quietly, expecting some kind of reaction. Any kind of reaction. But she doesn't so much as flinch. So you move back and settle back into bed for a good night's sleep.
You wake up early the next morning, disturbed by the gentle pitter-patter of footsteps in your room. Rubbing at your sleepy eyes before they flicker open, squinting in the premature morning sun. "Van?" Her name is but a sigh from your lips.
"I should go before your parents wake up," Van insists. "Thanks for letting me stay."
It's too early. How was she so awake? She's lingering by your window, and you're suddenly worried about her falling. "You can use the front door, Spider-Man."
A noticeable smile. "You sure?"
"I'll walk you out." You push up, struggling to stifle a yawn.
"No, it's cool," She replies. "Sleep, I can see myself out."
"You sure?"
"Yeah," She heads for the door. "I'll see you at school."
"Okay. The spare key should be on the hook, just make sure you put it back."
"Will do, MJ." And with that, she exits the room. It's not hard to fall back asleep after Van leaves. You were plenty tired after last night.
The morning is relatively uneventful. You keep expecting your parents to bring up the secret girl you had in your room, but they don't. Everything progresses normally. You even manage to arrive at school with plenty of time to spare. The minute you step through the door it feels like you're immediately greeted by a very intense Taissa Turner. Bright-eyed and ready for a full day of school before the weekend.
"So?"
"Good morning to you too, Tai," You mumble sarcastically. She falls into step as you walk through the building.
"Did you finish or not?"
Of course, that's her main concern. "Yes, it's done."
"And it's actually good?"
"Tai," you groan loudly, an abrupt stop as you turn to face her. "Can we do this later? It's too early."
"What even happened? You never called me back," Her eyes search yours for an explanation, you sigh and continue walking.
"Yeah, sorry,"
"You're the one who wanted to call," She follows, now a step behind. "said it'd help you work better, then you just hang up on me."
"Gotcha." An arm flung over your shoulder drags you flush against another person. Its Van. She's caught Tai in the other.
"I just had something come up," You tell Tai, offering Van a little smile.
"You're here early," Tai comments. You know it's aimed at Van as she steps out of her grip. You pat Van's hand before removing yourself, too.
"Yeah, I was ready early, so I walked today." You eye her suspiciously. "You coming to homeroom?"
"Yes," You agree eagerly. You just wanted to get away from Tai, honestly. She was easier to handle after the first period. "I need to go to my locker first. I'll see you later, Tai."
"It better be done," Tai urges. You just roll your eyes, paths diverging down different corridors. Now you walk alongside Van.
"So did you actually go home or just wander about and come to school?"
"I went home,"
"Van," Stated firmly. A warning to tell the truth.
"I went home," She urges, a little more defensively. "I grabbed some stuff and came here. She shows you her backpack as proof.
"Okay," You're reassured by her bag. She didn't have that last night, so she must have gotten it from somewhere. "If you need somewhere to stay over the weekend, I'm sure my mom won't mind if I actually ask this time,"
"Nah, it's cool," she waves away your concern like it's unwarranted. Like she didn't show up at your window last night. You approach your locker. "Maybe we can do something, though?"
"Oh," Such a blunt question. You purse your lips, turning to unlock the metal door.
"No pressure," Van adds sharply. "I didn't mean like..." Her words trail off, but you know exactly what she meant. Her inability to finish her sentence confirmed that. She was asking you out like on a date. Twisting on your heel, you find her eyes cast down. Part of you knew she was awake when you confessed, but the other part hoped she wasn't. That you could just continue on like you didn't have a conversation at all.
"Should we... do we talk about it?" Her eyes flicker up to yours and you turn away, shoving books into your locker.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Van wonders cautiously. Did you want to talk about it? Talking about it would make it real. " I can pretend I was asleep- didn't hear a thing. I'm good with that."
Somehow, that makes you feel worse. Like leaving her with a secret she should never have known. You don't want to do that to her. You can't do that to her. You just needed to be brave like she was. "You... don't have to," You insist, turning around to face her. "I meant what I said." Your eyes meet. Heat rushes to your cheeks, making you glance away. "My tummy always feels funny when I'm around you. I get all hot and like flustered. I just... I don't know."
"You know, last night all I could think about was seeing you," She admits. "Everything was really shitty but you always make me feel better. You're just... so nice and kind to everyone and fucking beautiful. Even when I thought you were into Tai, I was just happy being around you."
"Van,"
"I know it's scary, but I really like you," Van admits. She takes a step closer. "Can you look at me?" she presses, and your eyes flicker up. "I really fucking like you."
A squeeze in your chest. You're not sure if it's good or bad, but you kinda wanna throw up right now. "I just don't want to disappoint you,"
"You could never,"
"But I'm not sure about how I feel," You admit. "I think I like you, but what if I'm wrong? I don't wanna hurt you."
"I get it." She's hurt. You can see it in her eyes. She's putting on a brave smile, but the rejection stings. You didn't even mean to do that. Hurt her. You wanted to protect her from that until you could figure it all out. "Don't worry. Friends still?" You shut your locker, and a sigh. Why can't you just be like Van? Courageous. Fearless. True to yourself. Was there really anything stopping you other than yourself? That desire to stay hidden. To shove the feelings down instead of facing them. "Or not..."
"Let's do something this weekend," a spur-of-the-moment thing. A quick decision. "Yeah."
"Really?" The switch-up is jarring for her. "Like a... date or?"
"I... don't know," Her eyes search your face. It's confusing. Her brow is knitted together, trying to understand. "I get it if you don't want to. I think I like you- I know I like you and you're right. It's... scary but I shouldn't push you away because of it."
"Maybe we can like figure it out together?" Van suggests. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Like you've given her the world, but in reality, you have barely moved an inch. You're still confused. "If you want to?"
"You're not worried?"
Van shrugs. "I'm willing to try. It's worth it to me. You're worth it."
You swallow hard. Mouth running dry. Your whole body fills with indescribable warmth. "We can figure it out... together," you repeat her words back to her. An attempt to reassure yourself more than here, but it has that effect anyway.
"Together," Van confirms.
"We should... get to homeroom before we get marked absent." You offer a smile. Small but genuine, which she returns. You go to walk away, when Van takes your hand in hers. You freeze. Heart beating that little bit louder.
"Is this okay?" Van queries. You take a deep breath, glancing around the hallway. Nobody was paying either of you any attention. Nobody cared. And in that moment of realisation that you're not the centre of attention, you're just a little less scared.
"Yeah. Yes, it is." You express warmly. A gentle squeeze of her hand as she leads the way down the hallway.

Can you keep a secret?

Ian Hecox x fem!Reader
Masterlist
Warnings/Content: kissing, fluffy, alcohol
Summary: This has gone on for too long, hasn’t it?
New! Ian Hecox Prompt Series
Prompts: “I saw that. You just checked me out.”
Another day, another function, right? Well maybe not everyday, but they come pretty often when Ian Hecox only wants you as his date, and to everyone else you were simply just close friends. Best friends. They couldn’t be more wrong.
As time went on, it got harder and harder to make excuses as to why the office couldn’t know about this, as to why it should be a secret. Maybe at this point you just wanted yourselves to each other secretly, enjoying the game to the maximum.
It gets harder to look anyone in the face like your just colleagues when you have seen them naked, you would know. Sometimes you wonder if it’s almost too on the nose, and then you hear the arguments as you sneak by.
“No, dude, there is something going on between them!” Damien bites in a whispered shout.
“No, no, they’ve known each other for years, man. That’s it-“ Arasha, you sweet, sweet dumbass.
“You are so blind, don’t come running to me when we find out they are married with twelve kids.” You stifle a laugh, trying not to get caught.
“Twelve?” Amanda chuckles.
“Have you seen the eyes they give each other? They are absolutely boinking enough to have twelve kids.” Shayne explains to the class, acting like he had higher knowledge.
“I dunno man…” Amanda hums, thinking about what could be going on.
It was extremely hilarious to Ian and you how they would argue about your possible relationship, little did they know.
They had only gotten the story bang on, once, that being Olivia- she had been there from the beginning and was the only one paying true attention to what was right in front of them. Screwing this, pining that, just friends?
“Hey, do they always carpool when Y/n lives the opposite way from the office? And owns her own car?” Back then, her comment went unnoticed. No, no you did not, you were at his place that night and hoped no one cared enough to notice your blooming relationship.
“They’re dating, calling it.” You stood laughing in his office, giving him big googly eyes.
“You guys are stupid, it’s not lust- it’s love! Well, it is lust-“ A healthy mix of both?
“Clearly, they kissed at Tommy’s birthday, and then started dating! I was there that night, you could smell it a mile away.” She’s right, you did.
And soon, she would get her satisfaction.
This function was informal at best, just an office celebration, promotion- yada yada, etc. Still, dressing up was heavily encouraged.
You stood in your shared bedroom, that once was just Ian’s bedroom, brushing your dress down in the mirror. You put in your earrings, plucking out some wispy hairs before you hear the door click open.
From the mirror in front of you, a suited Ian clad in a flattering green suit, you caught eyes on him and couldn’t tear them away. You scan him up and down, not turning yet, not giving away just how much you wanted to forget the party and just-
“I saw that. You just checked me out.” He hums to himself, satisfied with the compliment that went unsaid.
“So what if I did?” You play along, finally turning around and damn, the mirror understated it.
“Hey, don’t give me that look, we can’t be late-“ He shakes his head at you, as you walk towards him.
“Whatever do you mean?” You whisper, laying a soft kiss on his lips, he wraps his arms around your waist, admiring your face.
“You know.” He mumbles.
“I can’t stare at my fiancé?” Oh, yeah, that was why you couldn’t be late- big announcements and all, it was about time.
“You think they can handle it?” They definitely will not.
“Fifty, fifty. Give or take.” You shrug, smoothing out his lapel.
“One of the fifty’s is Anthony, obviously.” Well, duh, he wasn’t going to hide this from him- for clear reasons.
You sat around some circular tables that were put up for the party, various drinks and buffet plates strewn around. You sat next to Ian, obviously, with Anthony on his other side- Spencer, Erin and Mallory at the table along with you. There wasn’t really a seating plan, this wasn’t the Oscars.
Your hand slid under the table as you found Ian’s, wrapping your fingers around his, he turned to smile at you momentarily- you would attempt to confine everything just one last time.
“You ready?” He whispers in your ear, sending tingles down your spine as his breath was so warm against the chill of the air conditioned room.
“Bring it on.” You take a deep breath, now or never, the façade was over now.
It was speech time, everyone prepped for the usual ‘thank you, everyone’ ‘good luck, [insert name here]’ ‘i am proud of all of you’s, no one could have prepped for what followed.
Ian and Anthony had finished their parts between them, everyone thought that was it.
“Hey, wait a second…” Ian looked around confused, so did…everybody else.
“What?” Anthony played along, you didn’t know they had scripted anything, now you felt left out.
“Can you hear that?” He cups his ear and Anthony pretends to be confused.
“Hear what, Ian?” He had flipped to his on voice, his video voice, everyone had thought this was just another gimmick.
“The…the wedding bells?” He squints his eyesz
“Oh…yeah?” Anthony hums, looking around.
“But where is my fiancé?” He scratches his head, good think he wasn’t too drunk as this would look like a regular mess-about.
“I think I see her.” Anthony doesn’t look at you yet, your heart hammers in your chest.
“Where?” He tries to hold off a smile, the whole room is itching with anticipation. Where was this going? Was this a joke? A bit?
“Oh, there she is.” Anthony pretends to act stupid as he points directly at you, sat next to them as they stood. The room went wide eyed, a few gasps, was this real?
“Come on, Y/n, don’t leave me at the alter with all of these people watching.” Ian grumbles into the mic, you shakily stand, mostly out of excitement.
“I would never.” You giggle into the mic and he wraps an arm around you, kissing your temple, Anthony sits down slowly. and lets you have your moment.
“Oh my god, oh my god, it’s happening.” Damien whispers. The room is in hushed murmurs, unsure-
“We are…engaged.” Ian bites his lip as soon as he lets the cat out of the bag, finally.
“What!”
“OH MY GOD!”
“THIS IS NUTS!”
“I TOLD YOU!”
“Oh, oh!”
“I KNEW IT!”
“Engaged?!!”
“For how long has this been going on?!”
“What the hell!”
The room turns into chaos, chairs screeching as people stood.
“Is this for real?”
“Okay, okay, may we have some decorum? This is in fact real, hello, we have been dating for the past five years and…thought it was time to tell all of you about it. And to save the date, of course.” You smile at the crowd some of your closest friends, this was a family after all.
There was screaming and shouting, you thought you heard a few bets come to a close and swapping of money.
“Mama and papa!” Courtney whimpers in joy, forever the comic.
“Mama and papa confirmed.” You nod at her as Ian speaks.
“No more complaining about our speeches now, I guess?” Ian raises his eyebrows.
You had gotten home later than expected, the night sort of turning into a premature engagement celebration and answering questions as you got swarmed. You groan as you kick off your heels, putting on a comfy shirt of Ian’s and climbing into bed next to him.
“I love you.” He trills, securing his arms around you once you are under the covers.
“Yeah, yeah, tell me something new.” No hint of annoyance in your voice as you stare off into the room lit by bedside lamp, a smile stuck to your face.
“Serious. I wanted this for so long when I met you, feels so good to just be here with you.” You can hear his smile in his voice as he kisses your neck goodnight.
“Me too, mister, me too. I love you so much.” You breath out a sigh of contentment through your nose.
You really don’t want to be at the office tomorrow.

I Only See Daylight
Summary - Weekends in with your girlfriend are your favorite. They’re even better when she makes your favorite cookies. 1.3k words
Warnings - fluff, fluff and smut, dom!sub undertones, mommy Wanda, fingering, orgasm denial, biting, praise, hair pulling, begging
AN- mommy Wanda is my absolute favorite. Can be read as a standalone or as a little blurb of the mommy coffee shop fic

18+, minors/men dni
Mundane summer mornings were always your favorites. The simplicity in the days when Wanda didn’t have work. The way her footsteps would fall gently across the wooden floor. When she would wake you up in the morning with gentle kisses and promises of pancakes. The sun would just barely peek through the curtains. When you would yawn and rub your eyes and she smothered you with love. Those were the best days.
Today, you laid on the couch, snuggled up with your favorite blanket while Wanda hummed along in the kitchen to one of her favorite songs. You had assumed she was just making an afternoon snack but when she took longer to return accompanied by much noise of pots and pans banging around you curiously went to investigate. You wandered into the kitchen, pink socks with tiny bows sliding across the floor. You had simply deemed getting dressed on the weekends to stay in was unnecessary. So there you stood, in a long t-shirt and panties, smiling at the girl in the kitchen in front of you. She hadn’t noticed your quiet approach so you took the surprise route. Quietly you snuck up behind her, wrapping your arms around her waist and peppering kisses across her back. She yelped softly at the surprise of you before turning around and wrapping her arms around you closely.
“Hi there Detka,” she hummed happily as she pressed a kiss to the top of your head, letting you snuggle in close to her chest.
“Whatcha doin?” You asked, closing your eyes as you leaned into her embrace. She hummed above you and kissed the top of your head, her hands wandering across your body.
“Making your favorite cookies.” She said with a smile as her hands rested on your ass, grabbing a handful. Her wandering hands were no distraction to you. It was typical and you were used to her groping and grabbing hands as she had told you many times ‘Mommy shouldn’t have to keep her hands off of what’s hers.’ Your head lifted and your eyes glistened when she told you.
“Chocolate chip!?” You exclaimed excitedly as you looked into her eyes. Though a frown formed across Wanda’s face.
“Chocolate chip? Oh darling, I thought your favorites were the sugar cookies.” She said, biting her bottom lip. You quickly looked away from her, settling your head back on her chest to hide your disappointment.
“That’s okay.” You mumbled quietly, causing Wanda to grin and squeeze your ass again.
“I’m just teasing, pretty girl, I’m making the chocolate chip cookies.” She chuckled and reached over grabbing a chocolate chip off the counter and placing it in your mouth. You looked back up excited and happily took the chocolate into her mouth, biting her fingers before she could pull them away quick enough. She chuckled and pressed her fingertip to your nose and shook her head. “Wanna help Mommy finish them up?” She asked with a smile. You nodded in response and pulled back from her embrace a little so that you could help her. She walked over to the counter, grabbing your hand softly to pull you along. She stood behind you, arms wrapped around you as she measured out a few of the ingredients, handing them to you to pour in the bowl. One of her hands worked along with you while her other one rested happily holding and playing with your tit. Your happiness was undeniable. Though it quickly faded when she handed you the whisk and you immediately spilled half the dry ingredients all over. The guilt of messing up the cookies took over and you instantly stepped back, forgetting she was right behind you. She caught you in her embrace and pressed a kiss to the side of your head.
“It’s okay, here. We can clean it up.” She stepped to the side and scooped the ingredients back into the bowl. You nodded a little as you watched her. She grabbed the other ingredients and cracked an egg into the bowl before passing the other to you. “Here.” She hummed with a smile. You smiled a little and walked over, cracking the egg into the bowl. Except there were several egg shells that made their way in as well. When you messed up again tears filled your eyes and you stepped away. Wiping your hands off onto your shirt.
“You finish them.” You said in only a whisper causing Wanda to quickly walk over to you. She cupped your face in her hands and pressed soft kisses across your face.
“Shh Detka, it’s okay. The cookies are going to be just fine. You sit here while Mommy finishes these up.” She said as she held you closely in her arms. You sniffled and settled in her arms. She then walked over and tapped a clean spot on the counter for you to sit. She set a small pile of chocolate chips next to you to keep you occupied while she finished up the cookies. When the cookies were finished and on a pan she put them in the oven before setting a timer and walking over to you. She pushed your legs apart, settling between them as her hands began to wander across your body again. “You were feeling some big feelings back there weren’t you pretty girl?” She asked in a sultry tone as she pouted out her bottom lip. You nodded and sighed at her touch. Her fingertips danced between your thighs before sliding up your chest and under your shirt. “You have no reason to be thinking Detka, pretty little girls like you don’t need to do that.” She hummed, pinching your nipple between her fingers causing you to arch your chest towards her with a moan.
She slid her other hand into your hair. She tangled her fingers and pulled you into a sloppy kiss. You eagerly kissed her back. Your tongues moving at a messy pace you couldn’t quite follow. With a swift tug she pulled your head to the side, kissing and nipping at your neck, leaving ample marks as she moved.
“Mommy please.” You whimpered desperately as you bucked your hips into her. Her hand moved down into your panties. A grin spread across her face as she watched your pleasure grow. You moaned at her touch, her fingers tenderly swirling across and around your clit. She was careful to avoid, wanting to tease. You closed your eyes, letting your head fall onto her shoulder as you moaned. Groaning out her name, your moans became frequent as she worked you up quickly. Her fingers slipped inside you slowly causing you to buck your hips again. She softly tisked and halted her movements. When you stilled she continued, moving at a slow, painful pace. “Mommy.” You whimpered. She couldn’t resist your sweet sounds for too long. Her hand picked up speed and her thumb went to your clit. The change in pace and rhythm caught you by surprise. You let out a loud moan as you softly bit at her shoulder to stifle it. You grew towards your orgasm quickly. But just as quickly as it started suddenly it all stopped.
The timer went off with a loud annoying ding causing Wanda to step back from you. She pulled her fingers out and pushed them up to your lips. Whimpering loudly when she pulled her fingers out you complained.
“Mommy no.” You whined, causing her to stick her fingers into your mouth. You took the fingers into your mouth, sucking them clean before releasing them with a quiet pop. With her other hand she turned the timer off before walking away from you. She put on an oven mitt and pulled the cookies out of the oven. You watched her, pressing your thighs together as you whined, impatiently for her to return.
“Hush sweetheart.” She hummed and walked over with a cookie while she blew on it. “We have to be quick, I have some work in the garden to do.” She hummed with a smile. “Have a treat while Mommy has hers.” She said with a smile as she passed the cookie to you and squatted down, settling her head between your thighs.

Headcanon:
Dating Lottie Matthews
Request: Yes or No
Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs, GN!Reader
Lottie Matthews they can never make me hate your kleptomaniac ass <3
~~~
LOTTIE. Lottie, Lottie, Lottie. Charlotte 'Lottie' Matthews who was born into wealth but resorts to stealing clothes from T.J Maxx only to return them, who grew up having anything she needed at her fingertips but nothing she actually wanted, who grew up listening to her parents argue until their inevitable split, who spent half her life hiding her medication and likely pushing down parts of herself because of her father's disapproval. Lottie Matthews who is lonely and tightly wound. Lottie Matthews who unexpectedly grows a crush.
Lottie's naturally quiet, more of an observer and commenter rather than someone constantly in the action like Taissa or even Natalie. She grew up with an emotionally distant father who held her at arm's length and threw money at her to keep her appeased, even when she was just a kid searching for her parent's approval. She wants to be wanted, she wants to be needed, she wants to be embraced for who she is. But she doesn't know how to get that from others.
So, when you pop into the picture with a friendly smile and a soothing voice, she isn't entirely sure how to proceed.
"Hey," Lottie's eyes drift away from the window and turn upward, her brows twitching in faint confusion when your face registers as new in her head. You smile at her, all teeth and laugh lines, and she finds something comforting in it. "Can I sit here?"
Lottie immediately nods, fingers brushing the bangs resting over her forehead as she pushes the bottom of her shoes onto the floor so she can straighten up in her seat. "Of course." She adjusts her backpack and watches you settle into the desk pressed against hers, curiously taking note of the other empty seats scattered across the classroom. "Are you new here?" She asks, and then desperately hopes you are so she avoids looking like a total bitch.
Thankfully, you nod and confirm her thoughts. "I just moved here to live with my cousin for... the foreseeable future. You probably know him." She watches your eyes drop down to her letterman jacket draped over the back of her chair. "He's the assistant coach for the Yellowjackets. You must be... Charlotte or Genevieve?"
"Charlotte, but everyone calls me Lottie." Lottie's a little thrilled to have been (somewhat) correctly identified and she immediately wonders what Coach Scott must've said about her; all good things she hopes but she doesn't believe Coach Scott to be capable of malice. Her fingers toy with her dark hair, a little smile appearing on her lips. "I can, uh, show you around, if you want?"
You look appreciative and a warm feeling blooms in her chest. "I'd like that. Thanks, Lottie."
Lottie's quick to make herself your very first friend at Wiskayok High School. She knows what it's like to feel alone in a big place, it's a feeling that follows her whenever she steps into the house she's meant to call home, so she ensures to introduce you to the other Yellowjackets as she leads you through hallways and helps you find your classes. Coach Scott's pretty pleased with her by the end of the day, which is simply a bonus.
While the team's pretty close-knit, most of them are just friends due to having soccer as a common interest, save for a few like Shauna and Jackie. Unless there's a school event or a party, they don't really hang out outside of school property, which leaves Lottie with only herself to keep her occupied when there's nothing else going on. Of course, now that you're in the picture, she has someone she can call and ask to hang with.
Coach Scott's surprised, especially when (on only your third day of living in Wiskayok) Lottie calls up the house phone asking if you're available. He's all for it. He himself has few real friends and as someone who views himself as more of a brother to you, he readily accepts your growing friendship with Lottie. He knew from the start he could count on the team to take you under their wing, he just expected it to be Jackie or Van seeking you out.
Lottie's eager when you agree to hang, so eager it's a little embarrassing. She knows deep down if she asks one of the girls to hang out that they might accept but she wants to have her own person. Jackie and Shauna have each other, Tai and Van are decently close, and Melissa and Gen are attached at the hip. Nearly everyone on the team has their own best friend, yet she doesn't. And she definitely doesn't want to awkwardly third wheel. That leaves her with you and she's happy with it.
Lottie immediately takes you to all her favorite spots and gives you a decent tour of the town, though not all 8,723 square miles. The town's a mixture of things; fancy suburbs and rundown trailer parks, plenty of shiny new strip malls and crumbling shops, residents driving in the latest cars while others had all their belongings stuffed in stolen shopping carts. She coaxes you into shopping and assures you it's on her as a welcome gift. Of course, when you aren't looking, she swipes a few small things from the stores she can gift you later.
Your friendship with Lottie steadily strengthens. You begin attending soccer practices much to her glee, spend the shared classes chatting away, hang out after school doing homework, and go to parties together. Lottie's feelings grow. She feels free, even though she doesn't dare mention her medication or diagnosis. Her father has made it clear it's something she must keep hidden and she doesn't want to weird you out.
She promises herself she'll tell you. Eventually. But she's too caught up in the bliss, especially when the friendship takes a turn into more romantic territory.
The air's growing chilly with the sun setting over the horizon and you take a moment to rub your fingers over a napkin before adjusting the jacket further over your shoulders to escape the cold. Lottie giggles beside you, her leg kicking back and forth, the bottom of her doc martens occasionally scuffing against the concrete and kicking up little rocks. She twirls a fry between her fingers before popping it into her mouth, big brown eyes crinkling with amusement and affection.
"Did I mention-" You pause to sip on your cold beverage, washing down the mozzarella sticks you'd eaten moments prior. "-that I got asked out?" Your tongue darts out to collect the droplets still clinging to your lips, momentarily distracting Lottie before your words fully register in her head.
Lottie blinks, a little alarmed at the revelation, and she straightens up in a way she hopes comes off as intrigued instead of worried. "Really?" She shoves another fry into her mouth and chews fast. There's a small edge to her tone but you don't seem to pick up on it given how you nod and reach for a fry. "Who?"
You give a little sheepish smile and it makes her heart drop to the pits of her stomach. Her leg stops swinging and the rest of the fries grow ignored. "Uh, Gen, actually. She wanted to go to the mall on Saturday and called it a 'date'. Melissa looked too proud of her for it to be anything but a date. I don't know. Gen's nice and all but... I don't really know her."
"Yeah," Lottie agrees immediately, nodding her head so hard her hair bobs along with her movements. "You should get to know someone first before dating them. I mean, I haven't seen Gen in a relationship before, either. She could end up breaking your heart for all we know. I'd think about it if I were you."
"Mm." You hum, propping your chin on your fist and gazing out toward the eruption of colors in the sky being chased away by the dark blue of the approaching night. "I wouldn't mind having a proper date to the dance, you know? Jackie's been talking about it nonstop in fourth period and she seems really excited about it. I think she's rubbed off on me." You laugh lightly and take a bite from another fry.
Lottie watches you for a good, semi-long beat, contemplating her next approach while anxiety creeps up along her spine. She scoots forward, closer to your side of the bench, until her knees knock against yours. You look back at her. "Come with me to the dance." She offers softly, her eyes studying your face to soak in your reaction.
"I already am, Lot."
With a smile and warming cheeks, she clarifies, "Not as my friend."
Things don't really change, honestly. Lottie remains as thoughtful, observant, and sweet as ever, though she's more touchy. While she's not all over you (she's not huge on PDA and prefers keeping most of it behind closed doors), she takes the liberty of holding your hand more often, leaning against you, and being close to you.
Her gifts get a little more extravagant. She can't help it. She mimics the love she was taught and besides, most people like gifts, don't they? It's what she tells herself when she gifts you something and thinks of her father, at least.
It's safe to say that Lottie enjoys quality time. She wants to be around you because your presence brings her immense comfort and keeps her relaxed. She loves simply hanging out, whether in silence, listening to music, or watching a movie.
Lottie doesn't keep the relationship a secret, but she doesn't go around bragging about it. If it comes up, it comes up. If one of the girls asks about it, she answers truthfully. Eventually, the team learns about it (including Coach Scott) and it surprises little to no one apart from a few.
Sexually speaking, Lottie isn't as needy as other Yellowjackets can be. Maybe while tipsy she gets a little giggly and more touchy, something often reciprocated, but she prefers sleeping together while sober. It's incredibly intimate for her, something she considers to strengthen the bond between you and her, but it's not a need for her. She doesn't randomly drag you into janitor closets or empty bedrooms during parties.
In the bedroom, control is really up in the air for whoever wants it more. Lottie can be submissive or dominant, sweetly romantic or stern. It simply depends on the mood and how she feels, as well as what led up to the moment. Lottie generally prefers things sweet, gentle, and romantic.
Lottie is an amazing girlfriend, and of course, when the team makes it to Nationals, she wants you to be a part of the experience. She regrets it at first when the plane crashes... but her opinion drastically changes as time passes.
so imagine offhandedly complimenting the third years about something niche, like diluc's bangs or venti's skin, or maybe kaeya's veins, and the next day they start trying to show off those niche parts about themselves to an embarrassing degree
and make that a request from me because I'd love to see how the third years would embarrass themselves, especially in front of the first and second years.
: ̗̀➛ YOU BETTER STOP WHILE YOU'RE AT IT...
one little compliment and these third years won't stop flaunting themselves. as always, harem shenanigans ensue.
( harem shenanigans, they're just silly guys here :p, nevermind the murder and manipulation that goes behind the scenes )
"what are they doing?" aether asks his sister, sharing her amused smile. lumine shrugs, sipping on her slurpee as she continues to entertain herself with their antics.
"embarassing themselves," she simply answers, and hands the drink to aether for him to sip on too.
CHILDE is rolling up his track pants as he's shooting hoops at the outdoor court. what better way to show off those sculpted thighs that you oh-so love as he's jumping and running around. he might have gotten carried away with it, with how high up he's rolled them that they're practically shorts. even his own teammates are a bit flustered as they sneak glances at his bare thighs and blush. childe, of course, does not care about their gaze when he's busy sneaking glances at you on the bleachers.
"my, senior childe, you look positively straight out from an erotica!" xingqiu comments while childe is chugging down water on his break. the younger boy is smiling at him with faux innocence, but he can clearly see the mocking in his eyes. "such a bold choice of fashion and for what? mx [y. name] is too invested in their book to bother looking at you." childe puffs his chest out in pride. "you wouldn't know, kid, especially with those skinny thighs of yours, but [y. name] adores these babies." he gives his thighs a firm slap, and the taut skin barely jiggles. "so how about you fuck off and study your voodoo shit with your boyfriend?" xingqiu rolls his eyes. "it was one compliment."
VENTI knows no shame, rolling up his school uniform to show off his navel. he's the effeminate type of boy, and he finds pleasure in catching you sneaking glances at him before quickly looking away with a blush. he could only guess what kind of inner turmoil must be going in that pretty head of yours! with a mischievous smile, he saddles up to your side and revels in your surprised squeak. guiding your shaking hand to his side, he welcomes your palm on the plush on the side of his tummy. then he watches how your face explodes into a million different shades of red before you fizzle out and slump into the crook of his neck with a pathetic whimper.
"s-senior venti...!" bennett squeaks, hiding his blushing face with two hands the moment he walks in and sees you two in such a promiscuous position on the bench. "th- i don't...! i think that's highly inappropriate!" venti pouts, snuggling even closer to you in spite of his junior's admonitions. "eh~? no way, this is a ve~ery normal behavior between loving seniors and their dear juniors! besides!" he points a finger at bennett (now daring to look at them through the gaps between his fingers) and wags it. "if you wanna even have a shot at [y. name], then you gotta take the initiative!" but bennett sighs sadly, looking at his senior's smooth tummy and his scarred one. "but i'm not as pretty as you :("
these days, KAEYA has been taking off those leather gloves and rolling up his white sleeves so he can flex those veins whenever he gets. women and men alike swoon whenever he swaggers down the hallways with such a scandalous getup, and even you find himself flustered and stealing peeks whenever he offers to carry your bag for you. the sinful trail of those veins bulging from his dark skin and fading back, paired with the captivating grin he sends your way whenever he catches you staring... it's all a bit too much!
SMACK! kaeya is taken by surprise when he feels a dull impact on the back of his head. you are surprised as well, and the two of you turn around to see cyno holding a rolled-up newspaper like it's a weapon. he continues staring blankly at kaeya, who looks back at him incredulously and says, "what... was that for?" SMACK! again, the perpetrator hits him with the newspaper on the forehead this time. "indecent exposure." SMACK! "roll down your sleeves," SMACK! "button up your cleavage," SMACK! "and put the gloves back on.'" are the gloves even part of the uniform—? SMACK SMACK SMACK! "ow ow owww," kaeya whines, frowning childishly at the student council patroller as he continues to give him a smackdown. "fine, fine, you're jealous, i get it— SMACK! — public indecency! okay, okay! stop hitting me!"
Word count: 4k
Masterlist
A/n: I decided i wanted to give you guys a little Valentines Day gift, so here!! Also, the outfit in this fic is inspired by the one she has on in that picture cuz she looks so good and I needed more of it.
…
“Hey, hon? Are you almost ready? The reservation is at 6.” You holler from outside the bathroom door, buttoning the last bit of your shirt, leaving the top two undone.
“Yeah, just a second!” Emily responds. You hear a few muffled banging sounds from behind the door and assume she's just putting away her hairdryer and other toiletries.
Slipping on a pair of boots, you sit at the edge of the bed, facing the bathroom door so that when Emily finally emerges, you’ll be the first thing she sees.
Hearing the familiar click of the lock, you raise your eyes, watching as she steps through the door. Immediately, your heart is pounding in your chest. Emily is always effortlessly beautiful, but God, does she look absolutely magnificent right now.
Her figure is clad in a tight black dress, hugging her curves in all the right places. The neckline dips just low enough to show a hint of cleavage, and the hem of the skirt rests just above her knees.
You’re practically breathless as your eyes travel the expanse of her skin, soaking in every little detail.
“Wow…” you whisper, your gaze following her as she pads over to the closet, choosing a pair of heels and slipping them on.
“Yeah? You like?” Emily quips, her brow arching as she stands and walks towards you. Her hips swaying suggestively with each step.
“Like? Baby… I love it. But, Jesus Christ, if we didn’t have this stupid reservation, I’d be ripping that thing right off.” Your hands reach out, trailing over the curve of her belly and down to her hip bones, caressing the flesh with your thumbs as she steps in between your spread legs.
“Hmm, well…” her fingers thread into your hair at the base of your head, scratching softly against your scalp. “If you’re behaved, maybe I’ll take you up on that later.” Emily hums, pulling your head to rest against her abdomen.
You press a kiss just below her belly button and wrap your arms around her thighs, not so sneakily grabbing a handful of her ass as you do so.
Emily yelps, swatting your hands away. You chuckle as she shoves at your shoulder, stepping away as you fall dramatically backward onto the mattress.
“Naughty…” Emily groans, turning and heading towards the dresser to finish accessorizing. Sliding her watch onto her wrist and clasping on her necklace.
“But you look sooo good.” You whine, rolling onto your side and giving Emily a ridiculous pout as you stare at her reflection in the mirror.
“Well thank you, but keep those hands to yourself until after dinner.” She locks eyes with you, smiling softly before spinning back around to face you properly.
“I will try… but no promises.” You smirk, shamelessly checking her out once again. Emily scoffs, making her way over to the bed and pulling you from it.
Once standing, she pulls you in gently, slotting her lips between yours slowly and passionately. You hum into the kiss, arms sliding around her waist and pulling her flush to your body.
After a moment, Emily pulls away, placing one last peck on your bottom lip before leaning back to look you in the eyes.
You inhale deeply as you rest your forehead against hers, breathing her in. You can smell the faint essence of mint on her breath, and the fresh layer of her perfume permeating in the air.
“You kill me.” You state matter-of-factly, pressing a kiss to the tip of her nose. Emily grins proudly at your words.
What she does to you is no secret, not that you’ve ever tried to hide it. She’s gorgeous and undeniably sexy, and you want nothing more than to make sure she knows it.
“Alright, Casanova… let’s go.” Emily tugs on your hand, leading you out of the bedroom and out to the foyer.
“I’ll drive.” You grab your car keys from the hook next to the front door before unlocking it, opening it just wide enough for Emily to step through.
“Oh, why thank you! how chivalrous.” She flirts, patting your chest as she brushes past you.
You shoot her a wink, closing the door and locking it back up before rushing ahead to open the car door.
“I’m starting to think you have some ulterior motive here…” Emily eyes you curiously as she slides into the passenger seat.
“Whaaat… never.” You roll your eyes, swooping down to kiss her forehead before closing the door and getting in the driver's seat.
“Sure, love.” Emily looks at you with sparkling eyes, her arm resting in the center console while her hand hangs preemptively near the shifter for you to hold once you’re situated.
Starting up the car and taking her hand in yours, you pull it up to your lips, pressing a string of kisses over her knuckles to her wrist before placing your connected hands on her lap and backing out of the driveway.
…
The drive to the restaurant is serene.
Music playing quietly on the stereo, the evening sun casting its bright and warm rays through the windows, the feeling of Emily’s soothing thumb dusting over your fingers.
Arriving at the establishment, you urge Emily to stay in her seat before rushing to the passenger side and opening the door for her once again. Emily smiles, pressing a kiss to your cheek as she steps out.
Intertwining your fingers and wrapping your arm around her waist, you pull her into your side as you walk towards the entrance. Squeezing her into a hug so tight that a grunt is forced out, a giggle follows shortly after.
Once inside, the host guides both of you toward your seats. The table for two is directly in front of a large window overlooking a quaint marina. The evening breeze ripples the water, reflecting a caustic network over the ceiling.
Emily grins at you from across the table as she takes a seat, and you shoot her one back.
You both decide on your meals fairly quickly, settling for something familiar and ordering an appetizer and drinks for the wait. In the meantime, conversation between the two of you flows easily. With Emily’s work keeping her in a near-constant state of busyness, and yours doing just about the same, there is always something new to discuss.
Emily prefers to spare you the gruesome details of her work, but she loves talking about the shenanigans she and the team get up to, and all the good parts of the job like when a child is reunited with their family.
When the food arrives, you both take your time, savoring the mingling flavors as they coat your tongue. Once finished, you decide on a dessert, splitting a sundae.
Emily reaches across the table, wiping a smudge of chocolate from the corner of your mouth with her thumb. Smirking, she brings it to her lips, slipping the finger inside, and sucking the chocolate from it.
The sight sends a shockwave straight through you, settling deep in your gut. You groan as you watch her lips wrap around the digit deliciously, silently wishing that it be your own instead.
“You tease…” you lean back in your chair, folding your arms over your chest.
“I haven’t done a thing.” Emily shakes her head. Her voice, low as she mirrors your position, biting at her thumbnail.
“You know exactly what you’re doing, Prentiss.” The toe of your boot grazes her ankle beneath the table, her breath hitching as the cool leather comes into contact with her bare skin.
“Look who’s talking…” Emily shifts in her seat, kicking your foot away from her.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah…” You roll your eyes, kicking her back with half the amount of force.
Emily smirks again before scooping up the last bit of sundae and swallowing it. You watch her throat bob as it goes down, resisting the urge to lean forward and press your lips against the skin.
The waiter brings the check shortly after, beating Emily to the punch, you whip your card out and hand it to the young man. Emily practically growls at you, her face contorting into a deep, somewhat hilarious scowl.
“Love, come on… you don’t have to pay for the whole thing.” She tilts her head at you, arching a brow.
“I just wanted to treat you today… it is Valentine’s Day after all…” you reach out and take her hand in your own, squeezing it. “Especially after that lovely gift you gave me this morning…”
Emily flushes at the suggestive comment, ducking her head to the side. Your eyes catch the faint purple mark etched into the skin just below her ear. A remnant of said gift, consisting of a little breakfast in bed, then a proper homemade breakfast in the kitchen.
You’ve never been big on receiving gifts, but when it comes to giving them you’re all for it. You live to spoil Emily; in your mind, she deserves the world and so much more.
So when she decided to wake you up this morning with feather-light kisses and a hand inching between your legs, followed by the whispered promise of an orgasm and chocolate chip pancakes, you gladly accepted and officially made it your mission to make sure the rest of the day all about Emily.
The waiter returns fairly quickly with the card, and you both decide to bask in the final moments of the sunset over the water. Emily toys with the ring on your finger as you do so, a silver band that matches the one she wears around her neck.
Rings that promise you to each other even when you’re physically apart. Emily had cried when you gave her the band on your anniversary the year prior, the mess of words that spewed from you more so affecting her than the ring itself.
You promised her your ever-eternal love and support, that she is and forever will be your one true salvation in life. You had cried too.
You turn to Emily in the moment of silence, studying her. The typical rich amber of her eyes is nearly charcoal, and her skin is cast in a bluish tint from the darkening sky.
“I love you, Emily.”
Emily turns to you in response, emotion prominent in her waterline. She picks up your clasped hands from the table, cupping your palm over her cheek and kissing your wrist.
“And I love you. So much. More than I’ll ever be able to express.” She smiles softly, the shell of her ears growing red as she tries to stifle the growing swell inside her.
“How about we get out of here?” You lean forward on your elbows, voice low as you tilt your chin towards her, silently asking for a kiss.
Emily quickly obliges you, pressing a few chaste kisses against your lips.
“Let’s go…” she grins, pulling back and slipping out of the seat. You take her hand as you follow in tow.
Bidding the host a goodnight, you make your way to the car, opening the door for Emily. As you round to the driver’s side, Emily reaches over the console and opens the door for you in return.
“Thank you, honey.” You kiss her cheek once you sit, repeating the usual routine of intertwining your fingers and placing them in her lap.
“I passed the test.” Emily giggles, you can’t help but chuckle at her reference.
“You’re silly, you don’t need to pass the door test for me to love you.” you shake your head, looking over at her with a lopsided grin.
“If ya say so…” Emily places your hand over her thigh, her nails scratching up and down your forearm as she leans over to kiss the side of your bicep.
Exiting the parking lot, Emily switches through the radio stations, searching for the perfect one. She settles on an oldies station currently playing eighties hits, The Cure’s, Lullaby to be exact.
As you drive, your thumb brushes over the thin cloth of Emily’s dress, fingers tapping along to the beat.
Your eyes leave the road momentarily, looking over at her as she shifts slightly. With a glance, you notice how she’s moved to face more towards you, how her legs have parted, nearly manspread.
You can feel her eyes on your profile, burning into your skin. You look over at her again with a curious expression.
“Is there something on my face?”
“No… could be though.” Emily teases, her fingers wrapping around your arm and squeezing at the muscle.
“Are you insinuating something, Prentiss?” Your hand slides towards her knee, fingertips pressing into the sensitive area. Emily hums in response, squirming under the pressure.
“That is completely up for you to decide, baby.” Her voice is low and raspy, you scoff at the obvious teasing laced in it.
Your knuckles turn pale from clutching the steering wheel, desperately trying to slow your quickening heart rate.
From the corner of your eye, you see Emily reach toward the volume knob, turning the radio down. You know almost instantly what she’s playing at.
Now that silence fills the car, your senses become heightened. You can hear her breathing and the sound of your fingertips against the fabric of her dress.
Turning onto the freeway, you glance over your shoulder, checking for on-coming traffic before merging. Luckily rush hour traffic has concluded and the roads are practically empty.
Looking at Emily again, you take in the slight flush creeping up her chest, perfectly accentuated by the dress’s low neckline.
Switching your eyes back to the road, your fingers curl under the hem of the skirt, Emily sucks in a breath as the pads of your fingers slide over the bare skin. Sinking further into the seat, she lifts her knee to rest against the center console.
“Emily…” you groan, a painfully wide smile growing over your cheeks. “You’re gonna make me crash the car…”
“Then I’d be dying a very happy death.” Emily smirks, scratching at your elbow. You give her an unimpressed look.
“Mmm..” you hum, shifting your attention forward.
With a sigh, your hand trails under her skirt, the faintly calloused tips of your fingers scratching magnificently over her smooth flesh.
When they dance just past mid-thigh, you stop abruptly at the feeling of a thick, lacy band. Your neck pops with the speed at which you whip your head around to face her.
“You’re wearing a fucking garter?” Your hand swiftly switches over to her other leg, feeling up her thigh for a matching band.
“Maybe…” Emily bites at her bottom lip, looking up at you through her lashes.
Your finger curls around the elastic before snapping it against her flesh. Emily lets out a quiet gasp, her nails digging into the leather seat, while her hips roll slightly.
Her movement does not go unnoticed, and your smile widens.
Deciding to tease her just a bit more, you slip your full hand beneath the fabric, gripping the flesh of her thigh.
“I love when you wear those… you look so fucking sexy. God, remember the things I did to you the last time you had those on…” your nails dig into her skin as you recall the memory.
Emily, leaning against the door frame of your dimly lit bedroom, wearing nothing but a skimpy black lingerie set, and those wicked lace garters around her upper thighs.
You were practically drooling like a mastiff when you finally got your hands on her that night. Your head between those lace glad thighs, working her with your mouth and fingers, over and over again until she physically pushed you away.
The thought of pulling over on the side of the freeway to have your way with her undeniably crossed your mind. But no.
Keeping as much composure as possible, you pull your hand away, resting it over her knee.
“Take your panties off, seat belt stays on.”
Emily audibly moans, quickly slipping the thin garment down her legs and tossing them into your lap. You smile as you look down at them, a noticeable patch of arousal glistening over the gusset.
“Someone excited?” Your hand slides back down to her thigh, pushing the hem of the dress up with it. The closer you get to her center, the more heat you can feel emanating.
Sliding over the garter, you give the apex of her thigh a rough squeeze. Emily moans softly, pushing herself into your hand.
“Touch me… please.” She whines, her hand sliding over your arm, but not attempting to pull you closer.
“Be patient.” You pinch at the skin of her hip. Emily brings her hand that’s been clutching at the seat, to her lips, biting down on her finger and looking out the window to distract herself.
Your thumb brushes over her hip bone, pressing into it slightly before gliding down her pelvis. You can feel the muscles quivering under your touch, always so sensitive when it comes to your teasing.
Emily inhales shakily as you flatten your palm over her stomach, running it across the soft flesh before landing on the opposite leg and slotting your fingers along the inner crease of her thigh. Emily huffs, her hips rolling forward in an attempt to gain some sort of friction against where she needs it the most.
“Baby…” Emily looks at you with pleading eyes, her head lulling forward as the car drives over a few bumpy patches.
With a hum, you relax a bit further into your seat, letting your fingers shift over a mere inch, tracing along the curve of her outer labia and down to the wetness pooling around her entrance.
“Stop teasing.” Emily groans, rocking against your fingers as they glide through her folds, toying with her arousal.
You tut at her in response, swiftly pinching at her inner thigh, causing her to yelp. Smiling deviously, you make your way back to her center, gathering up her wetness and spreading it over her clit.
‘This what you want?” You slowly circle the swollen nub, just enough that a breathy moan is pulled from her throat, but still not enough to provide the relief she needs.
“Yes… need more.” Emily clutches the back of your arm.
“Mhmm.” you apply more pressure as you draw sloppy circles around the bud, Emily’s trembling breath and the faint sounds of her wetness echoing through the quiet car.
“So wet… and to think we had some fun just this morning…” You murmur, dipping down to her entrance to drag more of her arousal to her clit, alternating between clockwise and counter-clockwise circles.
Rolling her hips in tandem with the rhythm of your ministrations, Emily’s eyes lock on the side of your face. Watching as your lips part, your tongue flicking out to wet them, observing as a blush covers your cheeks.
Emily whimpers as you drive over another bump, the force knocking your fingers against her clit harder.
“Can you…” Emily pants. “Inside, please baby.”
You look over at her again, eyes flitting back and forth from the road to Emily’s flushed body curled into the passenger seat, her legs spread as wide as they can, a thin sheen of sweat glistening over her brow.
You hold her gaze as your fingers slip lower, your middle finger dipping teasingly into her entrance. Emily’s mouth falls open with a gasp, her hips angling upwards to accommodate you.
Rotating your wrist, you press inside. Bottoming out before pulling back and slipping in a second, curling into the spongy spot below her pubic bone.
Emily lets out a low moan as you repeat the curling motion, her fingers squeezing at your arm, forcing your thrusts harder. Her head falls back against the door, hair mussing against the foggy glass. The lewd sounds of your fingers inside of her growing louder with each thrust.
“Eyes on me, sweetheart.” You give her a quick but stern look as your palm grinds over her clit.
She looks up at you immediately, her pitch-black irises peeking through her long lashes. Her mouth hangs agape, bottom lip glistening with the absentminded saliva pooling inside her mouth in response to the relentless motion of your fingers inside her.
“Fuck… feels so good.” Emily moans, her breaths coming out in short and quick bursts.
“You feel so good, baby. God, I can’t wait to get home and do this the right way…” You groan aloud at her disheveled state, she always looks so fucking irresistible when she’s desperate like this. All red-faced and panting, her body writhing underneath your touch.
“Yeah?” Emily breathes out. “What are you gonna do to me?”
“Jesus…” You give her a wide-eyed look, letting your head fall against the headrest. “Might have to pull out your favorite strap. What do you think, hm?” You quicken the pace at which your fingers pound into her, skin slapping against skin.
“Oh- yes. Keep going… gonna make me cum.” Emily arches against you, her face scrunching with the intensity of the pleasure she’s feeling.
“Might bend you over the side of the bed, fuck you nice and rough from behind…” you slow the pumping motion and opt for curling your fingers into her, hard. “Maybe I’ll have you ride me… you know how much I love having you on top.”
“Yes… whatever you want. Please… almost there, don’t stop.” Emily lets out a sharp moan as you curl into a particularly deep spot within her.
“Come on, baby. Let go for me…” Your movements stay consistent as you push her closer and closer to the edge, her hips stuttering against each of your thrusts.
You can feel Emily’s walls fluttering around you, her nails clawing at your arm hard enough that you think she might draw blood. Erratic bursts of air shoot out of her in whiny clusters of moans and whimpers.
“Coming… Oh shit, I’m-” Emily’s body seizes as her walls clamp down onto your fingers, her orgasm barreling into her like a collapsing brick wall. You keep steady as she descends from her high, her hips twitching sporadically with the aftershocks.
“There you go… you sound so pretty.” you ease your fingers out and settle them over her clit, pressing down gently to work out the last of her high.
“Ugh, that was so good- you’re so good. Thank you, baby…” Emily sighs, her hand sliding from your arm to the hand that rests over her pubis, squeezing it. She shifts forward, righting herself in the seat and pulling her dress back down.
“My pleasure.” You shoot her a wink, catching the way she shies at the flirtatious gesture.
Pulling your hand from her grasp, you raise it to your mouth, sucking her clean from your fingers. You hum at the savory flavor of Emily against your tongue, no matter how fancy the dinner might’ve been… nothing will ever compare to how remarkable Emily tastes.
“I sure hope you uphold that statement you made earlier…” Emily says, leaning towards you over the console and pressing a kiss to your cheek. “Because I most definitely am ready to go again…” She nips at your jaw, practically purring in your ear.
“Well…” you trail off, making a sharp turn and coming to a full stop. “Now that we’re home, I’m sure I can indulge you on that…” You smile, craning your neck to steal a deep kiss from her.
Emily places a hand over your chest, fingertips running over your collarbones and up the side of your throat before gripping at the nape of your neck and tugging. With a groan, you let your head roll back, allowing her to have her way.
She places a trail of wet, sloppy kisses across the expanse of your neck, running her tongue over your pulse point before sucking harshly. After a moment she pulls back, gazing at the reddened skin.
“Now we match.”
"I sure do! Watch this..."
"I can make explosive spears and throwables, just like my mom did. I can also propel myself in the air by whipping my tail very fast, which sets off the same flammable compound in my tail surface for an explosive boost. Very handy for movement, but also very loud… not great if you're trying to be stealthy. And yeah, my sibling could do that too, but he was always more interested in doing other things. An energetic but very scatterbrained kid that he was."
[She takes aim and throws the spear somewhere far away. It ignites and explodes with a loud dull bang that shakes the ground slightly]
"I can't do that too often, though. Maybe a handful of times in quick succession before my muscles tense up and burn as if scorched by flames. One time it got so bad that I lost consciousness and couldn't move for a couple of minutes after waking up. That was scary, and hurt like hell... since then I've been more careful. That said, I wonder if there are more slugcats with similar abilities to mine out there? I have not met that many scugs in my life to begin with, if I'm honest..."
"Of course I remember my family, how could I not! My sibling's name is… hmmm, right, let me explain this first. Slugcats have very good sense of smell. Usually, we know one another by our unique scents. They are incredibly complex, but can be written down as series of letters, if you map those symbols to the corresponding scent proteins and other chemical compounds. For example, my scent name would be:"
"Addmitely, this notation method is very over-engineered – a slugcat just knows you are you if they smell you. From what I learned, scugs don't really use a coherent writing system.. of any kind. I think the colonies may use pictograms? I uh, I've never been a part of a colony, so I'm missing a lot of info here. Still, what I wrote on the wall – I have used an Ancient script, which I roughly mapped to key compounds that make a scent. As you can see, it's incredibly long, it can also change over time, parts of it can be masked with non-organic aromas to hide your identity, so on and so forth. To simplify even further, these long strings of letters can be shortened to just the last three or two characters, and this is what scugs may choose to use to refer to one another. Here, my scent name is MGV."
"Then, there are names that resemble the form that the Ancients would use. It's considered more refined, and more common in big colonies where people adopt their preferable roles. Those names are viewed as a kind of «gift», because you receive it from your community. It's a symbol of how they see you, what you mean to them. Of course, my closest family was never a part of a colony… but my mom would still give me and my sibling those special names. I was named «Blue», which is the color of the sky above when it's not raining, and the color of clear water. My brother's name is «Bryn» after a very fragrant medicinal plant that relaxes your muscles when consumed. I always found it funny, as my brother was often the one getting in trouble and giving our mom heartaches."
[She pauses for a moment, thinking intensively]
"Hmm, I never thought of asking my mother about her name. I wonder if she had one? To me and it was always just «mom»…"
"My other parent? I never knew him. Must have left just before or right after my mom had me, because there is literally nothing I remember of him… or them… whoever they were."
[She takes some pearls out from her bag, and inspects them one by one just to keep her hands busy]
"Mom would never talk about him, as if he never existed. And I never questioned her, I was too young to understand and simply accepted everything at face value. It was just the way things were. Would I want to meet my other parent? Maybe, but I doubt it'd make a difference. What would I even say to them? «Thanks for abandoning mom and leaving her to fend for herself»? "
"I don't know. Maybe I'm too harsh. Maybe he was a hero who sacrificed themself to save my mother. That could explain why he was never seen or heard of again. But… I have no way of knowing for sure. It's the life I won't be getting back anyway."
Alone Together Au (except it’s the other half left behind)
In which both Stanford and Fiddleford fall through the portal and both Stan and Emma May work together to bring them back (even with two people it still takes thirty years, oops)
Together though they keep a marriage of convenience so that the town doesn’t suspect anything odd of them. Everyone still thinks Stan is Stanford and Emma May simply says she got a divorce from her old husband and remarried
“Come one, come call, to see the awe inspiring ability of Madame Mystery! Only 30 bucks a pop, and there ain’t no refunds, the spirits hate refunds~“
Emma May works as a sort of telepath and psychic medium in the mystery shack before the Gleeful’s rolled into town. Her true inspiration however is from the twins mother, Caryn. She recalls all of her tricks and swindles she watched the woman do when she was younger and was happy to apply them for herself <3
All together though her get up resembles much more of a fairy godmother type appeal than anything else (which Mabel loves)
Even though Stan and Em were friends in the past it was still undoubtedly difficult to yknow, pass as a married couple at first.
Eventually they pulled it off effortlessly in public, but there’s still a lot of emotional turmoil behind closed doors. Em missing her actual husband desperately and Stan having to juggle that, Tate’s bitterness towards him, and the fake identity
They don’t hate each other or anything though, quite the opposite, they feel they’re the only support the other has after Tate moved out to live by the lake. Ultimately at the end of the day while it seems they’re just a ‘bitter old married couple’ they’ll be the first to back each other up
Emma May acquired a pretty nasty scar after the portal incident, so she began to style her bangs over her eyes to prevent anyone from seeing them. The only one who occasionally does is Stan, but when you’re working into the ams on a portal you can’t comprehend it’s hard to care too much about said scar
But this doesn’t stop Dipper from speculating what she could be hiding under the bangs
“I don’t know, but I reckon it feels like the end of the world.”
In order to convince Stan to come to Gravity Falls, Em sends the postcard copying Fords handwriting to bait him to Oregon. Once he shows up though he’s shocked to find his brother actually didn’t want to see him at all and it was instead her who wants to talk
She promptly explains she needs backup confronting Ford and Fiddleford because while she can get through to Fiddleford she worries no one can get through to Ford. Her last resort was asking for Stans help
Things do not..go very well though. Ford and Stan still fight, Fiddleford tries to break them up and accidentally gets shoved alongside Ford. Meanwhile Em is the only one close enough for Stan to actually grab hold of before the portal shuts off and the two are left alone together
And then the last silly detail atm regarding Tate
Little dude ✨hates✨ Stan
He blames him for his father falling through the portal and he absolutely detests the ‘uncle/friendly paternal’ type role he tries to fill as he grows up
He can’t help but feel bitter towards his mother as well considering she was so quick to marry Stan as well, even with the context of the situation, even if it was just on paper, even if he knows they’re working to get the two back. It still felt like a betrayal
Once he was old enough he moved out to live by the lake where he eventually opens his tackle shop, but fishing isn’t exactly the only job he has
Knowing Tate is potentially even more intelligent than his father he found the memory gun when he was around the twins age, made himself leader of the society of the blind eye as he’s ‘the heir’, and promptly continues to run the cult in the bg as he feels it’s what his dad would want him to do
mine to protect ⋆*·゚misaxfemreader
the night you thought would be a lighthearted, fun time with some of misa's friends, ends with a different kind of bang you had originally anticipated. but when things go awry, you can always expect your girlfriend to be there.
(or; the mentioned club incident from mine to save)
tw: intimidation and harassment by a drunken fool. dw, sweet ending.
It was meant to be nothing more than a fun night out with friends now that most of them were in the area. It had been a spontaneous text by Jenni that had spurred the entire thing. The group had never been that good at planning things far in advance, with schedules changing and always full, but it seemed that most girls had at least a few hours to spare this Saturday night. And, well, while Misa’d had the day off entirely, she’d also mentally written your name in all caps in her agenda for this weekend as soon as she heard you’d be coming to see her. She hadn’t even realised the group chat had exploded until grabbing her phone to snap a picture of the two of you all cuddled up, something to add to her folder with pictures to cheer her up whenever you two were apart. It took her quite some scrolling to catch up, and when she saw the text that had initiated it all, she caught herself feeling a little indifferent. On one hand, she would love nothing more than to spend some time with her friends. On the other, she’d see most of them again soon during national camp. Plus, there was never enough time to spend with you. Sure, there were quick days in between matches you’d play near the other, but entire days spent together without worrying about the time were scarce. It was exactly why she’d been able to lose track of time for as long as she had, having you wrapped against her in her arms was far too valuable to her. You squirmed against her front, having lost your comfortable position as soon as Misa had shifted to reach for her phone.
With the curtains closed and the lights dimmed, Misa had turned her apartment into a cozy little bubble after the dinner you had made together. It was as if you were the only two people on earth. But that wasn’t a foreign feeling whenever Misa was around. Quite the contrary— you often suffered from severe tunnel vision whenever she was near. Even when she wasn’t in your direct line of sight, your heart would still quicken and there’d be an extra pep in your step and a shine to your eyes. Like a fool in love, you would perk up whenever she walked in, sought your eyes and sent you the most heartwarming grin. That grin of hers, whether the cheeky one or the adorable kind, had been one of the things that had instantly given her some of your heart. The two of you hadn’t even been properly introduced yet, she’d only acknowledged your presence for the time being with that damned grin, and you had felt your pulse quicken and your cheeks flush nonetheless. And then the nerves! She’d made you feel so nervous and giddy like some silly school girl whose crush finally decided to look her way. You’d felt pathetic when thinking about the encounter for the longest time until Misa had admitted to you that she’d put off introducing herself to you that day for so long, simply because she had been too nervous herself. It left you feeling a little alienated, knowing that you had been the one to leave your usual self-assured girlfriend feeling so insecure. Then you felt a little smug because of the exact same reason. Only you could make Misa feel that way, and that knowledge left you feeling euphoric.
A whine escaped your mouth as your back softly slid from Misa’s front to the back of the couch, watching as your girlfriend leaned sideways to type away on her phone that was still plugged in to charge.
Misa side-eyed you, and although she tried to hide it, you saw the tiny smirk wanting to pull at the corners of her lips. She quickly bit her lip before she could be caught red-handed, planted a kiss on your temple and pulled you against her again. Her fingers absentmindedly snaked underneath the sweatshirt you were wearing, one of hers, and softly brushed the skin of your waist. She typed away again.
“I think I like you better with both your hands on my waist.” You mumbled against her neck, feeling her muscles there tighten, signalling she was probably smirking again. Or still.
“Hm?” Misa quickly locked her phone, “Like so?” She turned to you, the arm around you pulling you back onto her lap, the hand on your waist snaking up your back and her free hand squeezing your thigh.
“Or more like this?” She looked up at you, eyes full with a type of fire that could only stem from pure love and adoration. Her nose nuzzled against your cheek before she planted some light kisses along your jaw. Your arms went to their designated spot around her neck as she continued to leave feather-like kisses along your skin. You let out a small sigh, bliss and a sense of belonging coursing through you. She softly pulled your face to hers by your chin and pushed you flushed against her before her lips found yours. Slow pecks and open mouthed kisses quickly deepened as your lips pressed against one another’s furiously and full of passion. But as you felt Misa start to play with the hairs in your neck, she also slowly untangled herself from your grip. Frowning, you quickly reared back.
“This is probably the worst time to tell you that the others are on their way here?” A child-like kind of guilt flashed across her face, and for a second, she couldn’t even look you in the eye. She knew how sacred the time you had together was, how scarce it was, too. Not to mention how much you had looked forward to spend each and every minute together, and make use of it as well.
“What? What do you mean? Who?!”
“Well, Jenni, Patri… Leila. Ale and Olga will be there, too, and all the others… if they have time.”
You rose an eyebrow, studied her face, “…there? Where?!”
Misa sighed and rubbed her brows, “They want to go out to some club since most of us are in town, but I had my phone off the entire day and only now read that they’re going to pick me up…but-”
“-they don’t know I’m with you?”
She nodded sheepishly, “I just texted them that, but Jenni said that’s even better… that it will be more fun with you around, anyway.”
You whined again and threw your head against her shoulder. She patted your back, “I know. Feeling the same.”
“Text them again. Say we’re out.”
“I could… if I hadn’t just told them I was not planning on leaving the apartment with you.”
“What’d they say?”
She sent a toothy grin your way, “Apart from hollers and dirty comments?”
“Oh God, I don’t want to know.”
You felt Misa’s hand start to roam beneath your shirt again. Her voice turned to a whisper, “Anyway, we don’t have to open when they knock.” You sidled up to her again, liking how your knees were on either side of her legs, giving you the control to keep her in place. “We’ll just pretend they’re not there so they’ll go, vale?” Her eyes twinkled with mischief.
“I like that idea,” You whispered back.
“Yeah? Think you can do that?” Misa cupped your cheek and tilted her head in challenge. You hummed noncommittally, having only eyes for her and the way she was looking at you, how she softly scratched your back with her cold fingertips and how it sent shivers down your spine already. You were going back in for the kiss when rapid knocking sounded from the hall. The two of you shared a look, before Misa whispered against your lips, “Ready to put your money where your mouth is?”
She kissed you, hard, stopping you from answering her as her hands raked across your body to all the places she knew would work you up.
The knocking commenced, but this time, it was a little harder to ignore,
“Police! Open up!” Jenni’s voice boomed from the other side of the door. You felt Misa pause, but she quickly continued and pulled you closer when Jenni’s muffled voice sounded again, “We received a phone call about a possible house fire. Neighbours said it was getting too hot, so we came by to check.”
You knew that all of Misa’s neighbours on this floor were probably hearing this as well, but when your head slowly turned to face the noise, Misa softly pulled it back to her.
Now you heard another voice, more banging on the door and some laughter, too, “We’re looking for two fugitives who could be inside. Both attached to the hip, can’t keep their hands off one another and are probably the reason behind the fire.”
"Yeah, we really need to get in to blow it out!"
Misa loudly cursed and dropped her hands, squeezing your waist before sliding you onto the couch with the utmost care before standing up.
“I won’t be long.” She spoke gently, in contrast to the way she grumpily walked to the hallway. “Going to fucking kill them-” She muttered under her breath.
You heard the voices less muffled now. Jenni, Leila and Patri, indeed. But their voices grew louder and you heard the front door close.
“Some fugitive you are, opening the door to the police.”
“I’d rather have that than have my building know I’m friends with idiots.”
“They already know, Leila and Patri ding-dong-ditched all the numbers downstairs at the intercom, that’s how we got in.”
You quickly made yourself presentable and perched yourself on the edge of the couch.
“There she is!” The trio stood in the living room, grins and smirks on their faces, with a less-than-amused Misa finally trailing behind them, mouthing an apology to you.
“You’ve found me… the arsonist.” You smiled softly, trying to calm the whiplash you felt from having gone from a heated make out with your girlfriend to this clownish trio standing before you.
Patri looked around, “No flames yet, so looks like we came just in time.”
You saw Misa roll her eyes and mock Patri, who saw you giggle and quickly turned around to face an innocently smiling Misa. Leila walked over and pulled you off the couch, “Go doll up, I'll help you pick something out but we gotta go, we gotta go! No time to waste! You can go and fire up the dance floor later, dale!”
You passed Misa as Leila pushed you down the hall, the defender’s giggles filling the room. They were having way too much fun with this, but you couldn’t help but let out a laugh as well when you saw the big grump your girlfriend had become.
“Don’t kill them,” You mouthed to her before disappearing in the bedroom.
“You too,” Jenni plucked at Misa’s hoodie with disdain, “Come on! You’ve got to show them you’re a power couple.”
“I don’t have to prove anyone anything, let alone that we’re good together.”
Patri rolled her eyes, “Look, we can’t have you slacking in trainers when she’ll be looking like a snack. Or do you want everyone to go up to her, not knowing she’s with you?”
Misa threw her head in her neck and groaned, “First you go and ruin our time and now you’re having me play dress up? Really, woman?”
“You don’t want to spend time with your friends anymore?” Jenni gasped in mock outrage, then laughed, “Come on, you can thank me later when she sees you and can’t keep her eyes off you.”
A huff left Misa’s mouth as she threw herself on the couch, reaching for the remote to stop the show you had been watching so you wouldn’t miss anything. She watched as Patri gave her a look, “What?”
“Y/N’s committed to it, now you have, too.” Patri crossed her arms.
“More like had to surrender herself,” She squinted her eyes at Patri, “But alright, I’ll bite.” She sighed, realising they were not taking no for an answer tonight. “My closet is the first door to your right. You sprung this upon me, so you go and have a look, I can’t be bothered.”
“Aw, big baby-” Patri stuck her tongue out, receiving the finger from Misa. She plopped down next to her on the couch while Jenni hurried off towards the closet, loving the power she had been given.
“You really love her, no?” Patri teased, to which Misa only rose an eyebrow. “The real deal, yeah? I can see it.”
“Patri-”
“No, listen! I love it! It’s good to see you so happy and in love. A little weird, too.”
“Don’t go all soft on me now.” Misa tried to nudge Patri away, who was giving her air kisses, but her face had softened nonetheless.
“Hold onto that, don’t let her go.” Patri shrugged matter of factly and pulled the remote out of Misa’s hands, “Just don’t you dare forget about your idiotic friends.”
Misa smiled, genuinely, “Never. To both things.”
After Jenni had returned with an armful of clothing and threw it at Misa to put on, Leila and you had returned not long after.
“Yes, that’s what we’re talking about!” Jenni looked at how well you’d cleaned up, returning your smile. She came over, seeming to fix your outfit a bit, only to quietly mutter to you, “Got her to wear the national team blazer I know you love on her.” She winked, then turned to the others. “Let’s go!”
Misa walked up to you, her fingers immediately locking with yours, and you couldn’t help but look her up and down feeling completely mesmerised. She was indeed wearing the black blazer you absolutely loved. Beneath it, she wore an elegant green V-shaped satin top that stopped right beneath her belly-button, looking as soft as the sun-kissed skin beneath. And with a pair of black tailored trousers to match, she looked absolutely ravenous.
The smirk on her face had grown as she’d watched you take her in.
“Ready to go?” She squeezed your hand, pulling you back to earth, the dangling of her car keys taking you out of your daydream.
“You’re not driving with us?” Leila asked, seeing the shake of Misa’s head, “Then why did we pick them up?”
“I’ve been wondering the same thing ever since you knocked on the door.” Misa muttered softly, playfully, having made peace with their predicament now, “But no, I want to be able to leave when we’ve had enough. I’m not letting you guys trap us again.”
You quickly plucked the keys out of her hand, then out of her reach when she tried to get them back, “Nah-ah, you always drive me everywhere. I want you to be able to have fun tonight. I’m not feeling like drinking anyway. Really, it’s okay.” You quickly added when you saw the look on her face. Misa was having a battle with herself. She hadn’t liked this turn of events, at all. It wasn’t the night she had planned and she knew you hadn’t wanted this either. For you to then sacrifice your night for her, felt wrong. If anything, she would have wanted you to have fun.
“If you’re wondering whether I can have fun without alchohol, then that’s a challenge I’ll happily take.” You shot at her when you saw the gears in her head turning for too long. She looked up, immediately, saw the playful pout on your lips and quickly planted a kiss on them. She knew this was you wanting to treat her tonight, a fair exchange for all the times she had put you first.
“Okay, let’s go, then.”
You walked out of the apartment with Misa in hand, but not after hearing the trio mutter,
“Ten euros on them leaving within the hour,”
“Pussy, make it forty... on them not even making it to the place.”
“You’re not having lots of faith in them… I call two hours, but make it forty-five.”
“Why not round it up to fifty?”
“I like odd numbers.”
“Fifty is an odd number, you doof.”
You bit your lip, realising you could have some fun with the bets they had placed.
Finding an available parking spot in the city centre on a Saturday night had deemed more of a nightmare than initially anticipated. You should’ve just gotten an Uber, but you sensed Misa had done this on purpose. She’d insisted on driving the way there, after all, but you knew it was because she often really calmed down when behind the wheel. Especially at night, with the sun down. Only this hadn’t been the most relaxed drive.
“Mierda-” She cursed as she rounded another corner, seeing a car park right in the spot she’d had her sights on.
“I’m beginning to think you took the car on purpose just so you could use the no-parking-spots excuse and drive back home.”
“Don’t tempt me,” She laughed, her hand going to your thigh as she put the car in reverse, turning back around. You grabbed it, giving it a squeeze. She squeezed back, her eyes still fixated on the road behind her before turning the car back in first gear. It was a thing the two of you often did, the squeezing, both to ground each other when things got hard, and to remind one another you were in this together. Never alone. It was something Misa had kind of initiated after a particularly rough night you’d once had. It had been the first time she’d seen you so distraught… the first time she’d seen you cry, for that matter. It had all felt a little unknown to her. She was out of her element, physically aching at how she didn’t know how to get that smile of yours to reappear again. So she’d held you, squeezed you to the beating of her heart in an attempt to calm and comfort you, trying to get you back to her. It had worked, and every other time after that.
“There!” You perched in your seat, finger pointing to the spot that had just cleared up.
“I know,” Misa muttered, almost disappointed, “Hoped you wouldn’t notice.”
“Misa-” You let out a loud laugh, loving how her eyes immediately flitted to yours, amusement on her face. She parked the car, turned it off, then turned to you.
“You know, we could just stay here.”
“And?”
“I think you know.”
“No-” You pointed a finger at her, grabbed your clutch and pressed the release button of both your seatbelts, “I’m not losing. And you’re coming with me.”
“Losing what?”
But you had already playfully ran in front of her, turning around with a smirk on your face, daring her to catch up.
“Do you even know where it is?”
“I’ll follow the music!” You yelled back.
Misa shook her head and bit her lip. You were one hell of a woman.
The club was packed, dark and filled with people who’d already drank more than just a club soda. But perhaps that was exactly the fun of places like these. People came here to let loose. To have fun. To dance without inhibitions, to mingle and meet strangers. After stuffing both yours and Misa’s ID’s back into your clutch, she pulled you close to her. It felt safe to feel the weight of her hand on the small of your back, to know she was there, caring about your safety. She cleared your way through the crowd, passed the dance floor, the bar, the bathroom before walking up to the booths lined up to the wall in the back. You recognised the familiar laughter before you saw the group. They all cheered when they realised you two had made it, after all.
“Hey, what took you so long? Pay up, Leila!” Jenni laughed as she pulled the two of you into their booth. “Patri and Ale are getting drinks, Mapi and Ona went to the restroom.” She quickly informed you two before motioning towards the bar.
You gave Olga and Ingrid a hug as best as you could over the tables filled with empty glasses. Conversation soon flowed freely. Granted, it was a little distracting that Misa’s hand rested on your leg, squeezing now and then as she fell into an idle chat with Alexia once she returned with the drinks. You sipped from your alcohol free beverage, actually finding yourself enjoying reconnecting with these girls more than you thought you would after having been plucked away from your Misa-bubble.
Olga suddenly stood up, “I want to dance. Dance?” She turned to you, then to Ingrid.
“Dance.” You nodded, sliding across Misa’s lap and out of the booth.
“Don’t get lost.” Misa smiled playfully, keeping hold of your hand until the distance made it fall back onto her lap.
“There they go, the girlfriends.” Mapi sighed dreamily, her eyes on Ingrid who blew a kiss over her shoulder.
Misa took a deep breath, watching as the three of you laughed and walked away. “I love her.”
“Yeah,” Alexia agreed, her eyes following Olga, breathless.
The song had just changed as you made your way through the crowd, the three of you holding hands so as to not lose each other. Some people who hated the new song walked away, the dispersing crowd helping Olga to find her way to the centre of the dance floor. Olga’s cheer when Shakira’s Dare’s Club mix started to play egged Ingrid and you on and the music quickly helped you move around as if no one was watching. Two girls dancing close to the three of you joined, matching your childlike joy at being able to let go after a long week of work. The neon lights flashing above you were hot on your face as you moved around. But you couldn’t care less, you were having fun. A MEDUZA song started, followed up by something from Alok’s and Tiësto’s repertoire and soon, even without alcohol, the songs started to blur together. Olga pulled you close, quickly snapping a pic, then another one as Ingrid and the two girls joined. It was fun, and you wished it would never end. Your bladder had other plans.
“Gotcha!” Olga yelled over the music when she realised what you were signing at, grabbed Ingrid’s hand and pulled the three off you out of the crowd as swiftly as she’d weaselled her way in.
At the sink, the three of you giggled.
“I needed that.” Ingrid puffed out a breath, dapping at her neck with a wet towel, her cheeks flushed from the heat of the club.
“The dancing or the break?” You nudged her, watching her reaction in the mirror as you washed your hands.
“Both.”
“Fair.” Olga nodded with a giddy smile, sitting atop the counter, handing you a paper towel from the dispenser beside her.
“Oh-” Ingrid’s face suddenly fell, “We never said goodbye to those girls.”
“Aren’t we planning on going back out there?”
You turned to Olga and watched her hop off, “I like the way you think. I’ll text the wives that we’re still A-OK.”
“I’m just imagining them sitting in that booth, so lost.” Ingrid laughed.
“Then we should probably give them something to keep them entertained, no?”
Olga opened her mouth, both surprised and impressed, “I like the way you think, again. Ready?”
You linked arms, the heat immediate and slapping in your face as the door of the restrooms opened. Someone had just thrown up close-by, not making it to the toilet in time, that much was clear by the acidy smell in your nose. Or perhaps it was just the mixture of sweat, hormones and bitterly spilt drinks. You passed the bar, pushed through the crowd just enough so that the booth where your friends sat came into view. Olga pulled out her phone, turning the flash on and waving it around. Another waving flash came into view and you got a little closer. The girls from before had left apparently, but the three of you had fun either way as you danced again, interacting with the women in the booth now and then. Patri, Ona and Leila joined- Alexia was very clear that her seat was too comfortable to leave- Jenni danced over with her drink- Mapi opened her arms as Ingrid excused herself and joined her girlfriend in the booth, and Misa… Misa was staring right at you. You couldn’t quite tell if she was mesmerised by how independent, free and joyous you looked, like a little kid on the first day of summer, if she was trying to figure out what she’d ever done to deserve you, or if she was fantasising about all the things she could’ve been doing with and to you had you never left the apartment. She hadn’t even seem to notice the finger you’d used to try and beckon her towards you. You quickly ducked into view of the video Leila was making, then returned your gaze to the booth. Misa wasn’t there. But you knew exactly where she was when two familiar hands snaked across your waist from behind, her breath fanning your neck as you heard her hoarse voice from having had to talk above the music, “You look most beautiful when you’re happy.”
Your smile widened so much, it stretched your face. You grabbed her hands, swaying your hips along to the rhythm and against hers, loving how her grip tightened. She rested her chin on your shoulder, “God, you’re the best thing to have happened to me.” She murmured against your neck. She’d long abandoned her blazer and your hands traveled up her tattooed arms before you turned around in them, giving her nose a peck.
“I’m quite sure that should be my line.”
She squeezed her eyes shut, tilted her head, “Are you now? What’s that based on?”
You hummed, your arms snaking around her neck, hers falling to your hips, “Instinct.”
“What else is that instinct of yours telling you?”
You pursed your lips, not missing the look in her eyes, the message, the request.
“Thought you could read me so well?”
Misa’s lips cracked into a grin— you had her trapped.
“I think it’s telling me to get you another glass of whatever you were drinking. Don’t want you fainting on me. You’re my ride home, after all.” She walked away backwards, eyes never leaving yours, knowing exactly what she had just done by throwing you a rope to hold onto, and then pulling it out of your reach. In the corner of your eye, you could see Patri sneaking a twenty euro bill towards Jenni. That meant one hour had passed. You’d love to see the looks on their faces as you’d ask them all your share of the money for having lasted more than two hours. If you could make it that far. Misa was making it incredibly hard to resist. You excused yourself and went back to the booth, being greeted by Alexia, who scooted over.
“Enjoying yourself?” She asked in amusement, her eyebrow raised.
“Oh, yes. You, not so much?” You guessed, sensing this wasn’t exactly Alexia’s typical Saturday night.
“I am. Look at her.” A dreamy look coated her eyes as she watced a laughing Olga, having fun. “That’s all that matters.” She mumbled, but got a little embarrassed at the soft look you were giving her, “Anyway, shouldn’t you follow Misa, or something?” She chuckled, her tone a little too suggestive.
You froze. Oh God, had Misa meant something else with her whole ‘you’re looking parched’ act? Was it some sort of euphemism? Was she waiting in the bathroom now? She couldn’t be, right?
“No…” You breathed out in doubt.
Alexia laughed at the flabbergasted look on your face, “Sure looked like it from here… the way she was admiring you. Anyway, you go have fun, you youngsters,” She playfully rolled her eyes.
You stood up, a little self-conscious now as you fixed your clothes. Patri asked if you were okay by sending a questionable thumbs up your way, one you returned with a nod and smile. Gods, okay, what the hell. You were young indeed, why not enjoy it while it lasted.
Okay, the bathrooms. Right.
You felt yourself growing a little hotter as you pushed through the crowd, thoughts racing and your heart speeding up, but you turned back around when a sweaty hand on your arm stopped you. A man stood there. Mid-twenties, ash-blonde hair and a far-off look in his dark eyes as he smiled at you. You gave him a questioning glare, pulling your arm towards your body, but his hold wouldn’t budge. He leaned in, and you immediately reared back feeling incredibly uneasy. You realised he’d leaned in to tell you something,
“Never seen you here before.”
You gave him a tight-lipped smile, then pulled at your arm again. He let go but put his hand on your shoulder and stood beside you, pointing towards the crowd with his drink in hand, “Wanna join me and my friends?”
“No, I’m good.” You give him another tight-lipped smile. Stay kind. Stay patient. Then slip away. You could hear yourself say over and over again in your head. You tried to step around him, but he blocked your way and his grip tightened.
“Come on, please!” He gave you a playful smile and finally let go, allowing you to breathe again. He put his hands together and pouted, “For me?”
You stepped to the right. He stepped to the right. Between his steps towards you, and your steps back, the panicked shimmying had left you with your back against one of the walls in a vacant spot of the club. Most people here were ready to leave, already too far gone to notice your predicament.
“I’d really rather not.”
“Ah, why not? I’ll buy you a drink.”
One step closer. Another step back. You hit the wall.
You shook your head, “No, thank you.”
“I’ve seen you dancing with your girls, come on, you can take them, too.”
“No, thank you. Let me go, now.” He had expertly draped his entire arm across your shoulders now, pulling you into his side, against his shirt as he dragged you a few steps back into the crowd on the outskirts of the dance floor, planning to disappear with you in the sea of people.
“Ah, Dirty Little Virgin then, I see-” He let you go, but only slightly, the smirk on his face making you sick, “I’ll buy that cocktail for you, my treat, I’m sure you’ll like it, come on. My friends are there, you’ll like them.”
Panicked, your eyes darted around you, hoping that anyone who was watching would notice you were in distress and that you did not belong to this man.
Well, so much for being young and seizing the moment, you thought.
You fought against his hold, hating how your head pressed against his clammy shirt. You couldn't breathe.
“Joder, hijo de puta, keep your filthy fucking hands off of her, you sick fuck-” You turned your head around as much as you could in his drunken but firm grip, and saw your girlfriend push two drinks into the chest of the nearest bystander.
“Now.” She growled and approached, teeth baring, seething, fuming, already working on prying his arm off you with mighty strength. He let go in a painful protest.
“Fucking hell-” He took offence, stepping in front of you as if Misa was the one he needed to protect you from.
“Step back and walk away.” She spoke through gritted teeth. You saw her clench her fist, all the anger in her body collecting in there, and you feared what the end result would be if she’d release it.
“Fucking girl telling me how to live my night-”
Misa’s eyes then quickly flickered to yours, softening slightly, needing the confirmation that you were alright. Shaken up, yes, but Misa was here, so all would be fine. You trembled but nodded.
For your sake, she clenched her fists tighter, hoping to lock her anger there, not wanting this to get out of hand. But when he turned around and made a move to pull you with him again, she pushed him against his broad shoulders. He was tall, fit, towered over her, and yet Misa seemed not intimidated in the slightest. He lost some of his balance that he’d already lost to drinking the entire night, and clashed against some dancing bystanders. They scowled, scoffed, and stopped to see what was happening. More people seemed to realise something was up and turned to stare. You looked around at how many people were already looking your way. Your eyes caught those of your friends in the crowd, who saw the look in your eyes and immediately brought the entire situation to the attention of the others before they tried to make their way over through the partying crowd.
“Fucking girl has more manners than you or I would’ve knocked you out already.”
He huffed, took a step closer to her, abandoning his quest to get you to himself.
“Yeah? Think you can beat me?”
Misa tilted her head, half accepting the challenge and not backing down from this display of alpha behaviour, “I can. Don’t want to. So walk off.” She dug her fingers into his chest, making him take a step back. He immediately closed the distance again, their faces incredibly near to each other. You were finally able to walk away from him, making sure to walk around him in a large radius. When Misa saw you in her peripheral, her arm stood out and you immediately took the invitation to stand behind her. But instead of safely tucking you closer, she pushed you further away, and fear suddenly struck you.
“Misa, come-” You softly tugged at her arm, afraid of what she'd to to him... what this man might do to her. Not that you thought she couldn’t handle him, please no. You just had to be realistic. And given his size and seeming strength, you weren’t sure how much damage this drunken fool would do to your girlfriend before she’d inevitably take him down.
“Afraid?” He taunted, standing way too close for both your comfort, but Misa didn’t waver one bit.
“Of a teenage boy throwing a hissy fit because he got rejected?”
You closed your eyes, realising Misa wasn't making it better when you saw the anger on his face.
“Then put your fucking money where your filthy mouth is.”
Your face paled as he bumped into her with his chest, but Misa barely budged. Oh, how different you thought your night would be the last time you’d heard that sentence.
“Misa, please.” You pleaded, "Let's just go home." You felt her relax, lean back as if she realised you were right. If only he had just shut up after that.
His eyes went to yours again, an unreadable look in his eyes. He huffed, “Oh, I see.”
“Good,” Misa nodded, standing in front of you when he approached, “Then you should see she’s taken and not interested and quite frankly, disgusted by you. Fucking move!” She rose her voice and pushed him when he looked at you, readying himself to think of what would no doubt be an insult or a slur.
A couple sets of arms and hands softly pried you backwards, to safety. Leila, Olga and Ingrid stood behind you, faces serious but gentle as they turned to you, pulling you out of harm’s way. You noticed Jenni, Alexia and Mapi were trying to pry Misa away from the man, making her see it was a useless thing to fight with a drunken fool who only enjoyed egging her on. But she was not backing down. Not now as the words left his mouth. Not only that— he had hurt you, intimidated you and made you feel afraid. Drunk or not, she was not going to leave without teaching a lesson to the one who had wiped the smile of her lover’s face. You watched as Misa’s friends pulled at her, pried at her, tried to talk in on her, tell her it was not worth it, but all you could see was the constant clenching of her fists. This was bad.
You rubbed your temples, burying your head in your hands before looking back at Misa, “This is bad, get her out of there-” You muttered, stopping the trembling of your fingers by nibbling on them. Someone stroked your back as another hand with a glass of water was pushed in your face. You knew they meant well, but you couldn’t rest and calm down until Misa was fine, preferably a thousand miles away from the fool.
“Fucking disgusting.” He used her words against her and spat at the ground. Within an instant, yelling ensued as you saw flying limbs and people dashing away. You jumped forward, a rush of instinct telling you to protect what you loved before arms kept you where you were, putting you down onto a stool, not wanting you to get hit in the process or to upset Misa even more. Leila went to stand in front of you, obstructing your view while glancing behind her now and then.
“It’s okay- she’s okay- they’re all okay.” Ingrid reassured you, her eyes following her own girlfriend with worry.
“Did he hit her?”
“No.” Olga immediately shook her head, a little too quickly for your liking.
“She him?” You wondered, looking back up at Leila.
“Don’t think so.”
You rubbed your knees and dropped your head.
You could hear yelling.
“Hey- no, think of your career!”
“Fuck my career, think of my girl, you mean?! I’ll never put my fucking career before my girl. I fucking fight for what I love.”
“Hey- I know, I know, but she wouldn’t want you to do this.”
You realised the girls around you were joined by Ona and Patri as they started to whisper, then whisked you away.
“Time to go.”
“She’s behind us.” Patri immediately spoke when she saw the protest in your eyes.
“Say that the fuck again!? You made a fucking mistake laying a hand on her, you hear me?! Look me in the eyes and say that again!”
You glanced over Ingrid’s shoulder and saw Mapi, Jenni and Alexia forcefully shepherd a furious Misa along between them, who threw insult after insult over her shoulder at the man being held back by security. She looked as fine as she could given the situation. You saw no cuts, swelling or blood. At least not on her face. And with each passing step, the distance between her and the man grew. That calmed you down. For now.
One of the bouncers walked behind your group, making sure you left without reconnecting with the man outside, telling them your night was over and to not return. Misa got mad at that, saying they should ban the man for sexual harassment, call the police, even. The bouncer only signed her to calm down, then told her they’d figure it out once they left so the fight wouldn’t commence in the streets. He kept a close watch on you all even as you exited the street. When the music boomed further in the distance and the streets turned vacant, Misa seemed to snap out of her anger and rushed through the group, hands immediately replacing those of Olga and Ingrid as she pushed you against her chest.
“You’re okay now.” She kept muttering, and you realised she probably did so to herself, as well. Then, “I’m sorry.” Over and over again.
“I was worried you’d hurt yourself.” You let Misa squeeze the air out of you, burying yourself in her embrace.
The biting tone to her voice returned, “Well, I was worried he’d hurt you.”
“He didn’t.”
“Okay.” Misa put you at an arm’s length in front of her, examining your eyes to see if you were lying, then pushed the stray hairs from all the dancing out of your face.
“But I really want to go home now.”
Misa’s heart broke at your voice. You sounded so disappointed… defeated, that your night had ended like this. This was not the night you’d had in mind, and it didn’t seem like you were leaving with those forty-five euros either.
Misa also couldn’t help but feel something for the way you had called her place home.
She grabbed your hand, squeezed it twice, I’m here, you’re okay, and turned to the others. She quickly thanked them for looking after you and making sure she hadn’t just killed someone, seeing you couldn't, and then pulled you into her as you walked back to where you’d parked the car. Misa softly pried the clutch out of your hands and dug around for her car keys.
“No- I said I’d drive. I haven’t drank anything. I'm fine, I can do it.” You protested, only for Misa to open the passenger door and help you in, even going as far as to put on your seatbelt. She planted a kiss on your cheek.
“I haven’t drank anything either.”
“I told you I would-”
“I can have fun without alcohol, too, believe it or not. And I was having a good night before-” She stopped herself, shrugged it off and got in the car herself, "Well, I didn't want to drink too much anyway, because then I wouldn't be able to protect you the way I want."
“You do too much for me.” Your little voice sounded in the quiet of the car once she had driven off.
“There’s no such thing when it comes to you.” Misa kept her eyes on the road, her hand squeezing your knee to comfort you.
“But you never let me do anything back. It’s give and take, you know?”
“I don’t see our relationship as transactional. I do things for you because I love you. That doesn’t mean I need anything in return.”
It was silent for a while, until you spoke up.
“‘Kay, good. Because I’m in your debt after tonight and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to do such a thing back to you. He was big.”
“His ego, maybe.” Misa snorted, finally being able to see the humor of it all now that she had you safe and sound beside her.
You didn’t laugh along, instead wondering, “Did you hit him?”
“Wouldn’t be sitting here if I did.”
You thought of the bouncers and security, “Yeah, okay.”
“I wanted to, though.” She turned to look at you, “Said some real nasty shit about you, us, then swung at me. He was so drunk that he almost hit Mapi. That’s when security stepped in and held him back. Couldn’t get a punch in even if I wanted to.”
“So he didn’t hit you either?”
She stopped at the intersection, “No, love, I’m fine.” She grabbed your clenched hand, softly pried her fingers through and planted a kiss on the back of it. She didn’t need to ask if you were fine, she could see you were still a little shaken, the worry for her only slowly disappearing.
“You could have ruined your entire career back there.”
Misa shrugged, driving off again, “So?”
“So?! Everything you worked for?! Your entire life?!”
“That’s only slightly true. You’re my entire life. Do you really I think I would have picked it over your safety?” Fuelled by passion for you, she continued, “Listen, football is everything to me. I breathe it, I am it, but at the end of the day, you are what keeps me holding on. You are what drives me, who I want to make proud, who I think of at the start and end of each day. Football became my everything when I grew up and I had a rough time, when I didn’t have a lot of people in my corner. It’s like a best friend. It filled up some of the loneliness I felt. Gave me a purpose, gave me friends, gave me something to focus on, something to enjoy. But you… I’m not sure I can even properly explain what you mean to me without making it sound too dramatic or cheesy, but it’s true. You are my everything. You are... this tangible kind of love, something I can hold and instantly feel relief, love, belonging…. You are joy when I see your smile, you’re my idea of a fun time whenever I hear you laugh. Your love is so big that I can even feel what you feel for me from miles away. That I’m wanted. That I'm yours completely. I’ve never been lonely a day in my life ever since we got together, not even when you are out of the country. I love you to your core.” She turned to you, finally daring to look into your eyes, “That’s why I don’t need anything in return. How can I want even more when you’ve already given me all of that?”
Tears prickled your eyes and your throat burned as you tried to hold them in. Misa was never one for grant speeches or declarations of love. She never needed to tell you how she felt about you when she already showed you. But this… it had moved you.
You could see she had played back her monologue in her head and grew a little embarrassed, her hands gripping the wheel and her eyes focusing on the road.
“Don’t forget that, okay?” She softly added.
She saw you wipe at your eyes and felt you move to her side, planting a teary kiss on her temple. She heard you whisper those three words, words that were spoken by everyone in the entire world to declare one’s love, and yet, even while so common, they still made her heart burst.
Misa smiled, “I love you, too.”
The two of you relished in the way your hearts swelled for a bit, until your chuckle filled the quiet car. She turned to you, amused yet confused all the same.
"Que?"
"I thought your whole 'leaving to get drinks' thing was a euphemism. I was on my way to the restroom, actually. Then I saw you with those drinks and God- I could slap-"
"Wait- you wanted to... with me... there?"
"I mean... I figured you-" You stopped.
Misa shook her head, telling you it was okay. She bit her lip, turned to you, her eyes flicking to your body, then to your face. She shrugged and turned back to the road, a smug smile on her face knowing you were hers to love.
"Can't say I hadn't thought about it, but I wanted them to lose, you know? And if we'd started that, I'd have dragged you back home to finish it."
You gasped, ignoring the flush of your cheeks at her confession, "You knew about the bets, too?!"
"They weren't exactly being secretive about it."
"Right?!"
"Having said that," Misa started to drum her fingers against the steering wheel and absentmindedly looked across the road, making it clear to you that her next statement wouldn't be as unserious, "Guess it's safe to say that if there'll ever even be a next time, I won't let you out of my sight all goddamn night. Maybe I can take you up on that offer then." You felt the squeeze on your leg and your hand found hers, squeezing back.
"I'm good on clubs for a while."
"Fine by me. That way we'll never have to leave the apartment again, no?" You pushed her away, seeing the suggestive look on her face, that of a teenager high on hormones.
"Don't you start getting ideas into that pretty head of yours, now."
She held up her hand in defeat, "Vale-" She laughed, then quieted down, her mood softening.
"Let's go home then."
She looked your way, then realised home was already sitting next to her.
Marcille’s dungeon lord outfit is about being stuck in an inbetween
Kui combined a dress from her mother with a hat for children. It’s adulthood vs childhood. The dress is tallman fashion while the earmuffs are elven. It’s about emotions and maturity. Stability and instability. Growing & potential vs having grown & knowing yourself. It’s about her cultures and expectations and how can she possibly keep up with all of them, like the genius child she was portrayed as? It’s duality it’s conflict it’s being pulled in opposite directions. It’s about identity.
Marcille wants to have all the answers and wants them all already, she already acts like she has everything figured out more often than not, when it comes to ways to harvest mandrakes or her image of Falin and Chilchuck and orcs or her rigid sense of ethics, but the story does show that she had growing to do, plus her main goal beyond keeping her friends safe and near her is that pursuit of knowledge for what she doesn’t yet have answers for— rewriting the laws of life and death. But, as we’ve all been told before, death is simply a part of life and we have to make our peace with that one way or another. Like Marcille says in the last chapter, this was in large part the lesson and arc she’s had to go through. A lesson that Marcille’s mother has learned herself, one that she has accepted and tried to pass on to her daughter, which didn’t work and kickstarted Marcille’s pursuit of extending lifespans. Marcille has to settle with uncertainty, with knowing life can end at any moment and knowing this is who she is even if the world has no answers for her as to what that means, she has to come to terms with ambiguity and inbetweens.
Marcille’s relationship with her mother is very interesting because it’s shown all in small moments and implications, but we do see that Marcille’s mom is arguably her biggest role model.
She’s the one who shows up in Marcille’s nightmare about monster food early on, she is who told Marcille she’ll have to bear loss througout her life due to her lifespan, Marcille wears a choker like she does, it’s debatable that Marcille mimics her demeanor to seem more elven and dignified, in Marcille’s true nightmare she hides behind a portrait of her, she was the only living elven role model Marcille had around. Mother, who didn’t let grief over her husband rule the rest of her life, having even remarried, mother, who’s a court mage, mother, who pursued a life she wanted even if it cost her. And we do know being an elf is important to Marcille! She seeks to conform to elven beauty standards rigidly, both in gender presentation and things like facial hair, and she’s masked as one since she was enrolled in the magic academy, as far as we know her first time away from home and her first big period of social contact since she isolated herself with chickens and books when she was younger, because she had no peers. Books like the daltian clan, with an aestheticized all elven cast with the one exception of the half-elf character she deeply related to.
Marcille’s bangs are also half down and half cut. Before she had to cut some hair to make familiars, long bangs were what Marcille wore for years, meanwhile in all of Marcille’s childhood flashbacks including at the magic academy her bangs were always cut short. As we know, hair is important to elves. Her hair is elfness. Her hair is elegance. Her hair is her age. Her bangs are uneven now. It’s part of accepting her precarious weird spot in an inbetween, half up half down haircut. Acceptance on her own aging, that there’s no empiric answer for what Marcille’s equivalent age is in elf or tallman or other, maybe just a ballpark if even that. Answers which are what she’s most desperate to know. What do you mean that student over there has got an astronomic result on her dungeoneum and what do you mean she doesn’t really care for how you did it? Falin who’s thus showing her another way to be, with less self-made pressure, that you can just go with the flow- that you can just… Be.
Her hair being all down and messy as a dungeon lord is part of making the characters and audience understand that Marcille is out of it, but… Like her barefootness there’s some flexibility it implies, for Marcille who’s so rigid on appearance. Accepting her hair to be messy, a sort of shedding of who she is even as she’s overdressed and trying so hard to look like something she doesn’t feel as.
That’s why her outfit makes her feel courageous. Because it makes her feel different from who she is otherwise, because it grants her a look she feels naked without, even with barefeet and messy hair. It’s externalizing how she’s been trying to hold it all together and all her confliction and her feelings, offering some catharsis, no more hiding herself, she’s a half-elf trying to do dark magic. Clean Marcille, clean clean Marcille— Overthinking the dressing, the superficial the aesthetic, without looking enough at the body it’s covering up, the laws of the world the ecosystem of the dungeon the opinions of her friends’— what’s standing right in front of her face, the underlying thing holding up the rest of what she’s trying to change, what’s truly important. She’s back to being like with meeting Falin, overfocusing on the details and the nitpicks and the theorics while oblivious to the slimes and the bats and the balance of mana in that small cave dungeon. She has the dress and the hat but as a whole she doesn’t look like a slay queen or a princess or a cool sorceress or even like her mother, she just looks like a mess.
Ultimately after calming down, she takes the earmuffs off. She lays down her childhood trauma and leaves behind its grip on her and moves forward in the dress, with maturity and emotional intelligence and logic to deal with her current situation instead of coping mechanisms and desperate grasps for control. And then when the dungeon lord becomes Laios her dress poofs, she’s in her very plain pajamas, plain Marcille, and it’s that Marcille who goes forward to help Laios save the world and defeat the demon. Hence why post-canon she starts dressing in similar dresses to her mother as well, and starts wearing more black. Black here is a color associated with her mother. She keeps her own touch and color here and there, like her red choker instead of a black one, but it’s a stark and sudden difference. She’s matured.
Her dungeon lord outfit is a coming of age outfit in a very literal way. A bridge between childhood and adulthood. We see her struggle metaphorically between the past and the future, moving on or holding onto trauma. The dress, from her mother, with cleavage and low cut sleeves and a lace gap going down to her stomach and a very short risqué skirt cut, represents maturity but it was very purposefully contrasted with the earmuffs, a childish piece of accessory associated with youth. This shows her mental state, battling with her emotions, wildly fluctuating between her academic put-together powerful self and the childish emotional outbursts the pressure is causing. Time moves on too fast but she’s not growing up fast enough to keep up or make the academic breakthroughs she wants— time is always running out and she’s both too young or too old she’s pulled in both directions and she can never be up to standards. It represents her struggle with her lifespan, her struggle to fit in, to know who she should be and what she should be doing.
Her friends aren’t afraid to say it like it is and bring back her feet to the ground instead of up in the clouds of fantasy and power, from where she was, her feet back on the dirt of where they are right now instead of the theorics of "when" and "then" and "forever". She’s weird, she’s unique, in some ways she doesn’t fit in with any group anywhere, and that’s ok and she’s accepted that it doesn’t mean she can’t feel belonging and joy as herself with her flawed friends in a flawed world. After all they did stick with her even after seeing her whole tantrum and embarrassing breakdown makeover. Personally I do say, slay queen.
You’re still here? If you’d like a full look at Marcille’s dunlord outfit, I made an entirely too long analysis of it here, this is just an excerpt of the most canon section.
my favourite thing ab the anbu Iruka theory is like. There's a high enough chance Kakashi didn't get reinstated and with how well Iruka hides, he probably isn't even in the know that Iruka is in anbu now.
so it adds a layer to their relationship. Kakashi's like "what a relief it is to have Iruka village bound and never out on anything more dangerous than a B rank when he does go out on a mission," assuming he hasn't gone snooping through personnel files and found the record of Iruka's 12 A rank missions from before he started teaching.
bc now it's like, Iruka's still probably mostly village bound, but in much more dangerous situations than simply inexperienced children throwing weapons around and the frustrations of bureaucracy. and there's a high chance Tsunade might send him out on a mission for his highly specialised skills.
he might come back banged up worse than after Mizuki, and Kakashi might go "... rough B rank huh, can you tell me what happened," plotting how to conveniently make a detour to extract revenge on the guys who attacked Iruka, not knowing that their corpses are lying on some autopsy table at that very moment.
like. it sorta reverses it? but not quite.
like it adds more conflict! Kakashi not wanting Iruka to die like all his other precious people friends seem to do, but Iruka actively putting himself in danger and not telling anyone the truth behind all his new injuries. Kakashi getting more and more worried, "Lady Tsunade, please stop sending Iruka on B ranks, he's getting hurt," and it taking aaall of her willpower not to laugh in Kakashi's face that Iruka's been going on S ranks and is honestly coming back home in better shape than expected!
And then perhaps it slips up? A messenger bird for anbu sings it's song while Iruka and Kakashi are hanging out, and Kakashi's like "huh, i guess someone close by has a mission," Iruka hums in agreement before going "wow! excuse me, i drank too much i gotta go," and runs off to the bathroom. he comes back like "aaaaaaah it would have been bad if i held it in any longer! do you want another beer?" and he conks out, Kakashi sneakily recording Iruka's drunken state with the sharingan only to freeze up; this is a fucking clone. when the fuck did Iruka swap with a clone!? he's not still doing filing at the tower is he? Kakashi's been in arms reach all day, he'd have noticed Iruka slipping off—— just now, in the bathroom, maybe he made a clone to entertain Kakashi before he succumbed to sleep??? he goes to check the bathroom and the crazy theory is proven wrong by the emptiness of it. it was after the bird called for an anbu agent——
he doesn't like that idea. he teleports directly into Tsunade's office. demands to know what's going on with Iruka and Tsunade reluctantly agrees to tell him, bc while she wants to respect her cousin's wishes for secrecy, not telling people like Kakashi is just going to cause unnecessary grief.
so he stands there, listening to Tsunade recount the events that led to Iruka joining anbu (a mixture of needing the manpower and noticing how much he holds back in everything he does), that all the misions Iruka's been on since she took office have been S ranks.
and Kakashi is like. my silly little wonderful Iruka-sensei who values every life he meets?? has been going on anbu missions?? for months????? his injuries are from anbu missions?????? he might have died on an s class mission it could have been deemed classified information that he'd never know¹. he's. he's a bit... his world has shifted, he's lost
and he keeps finding Iruka in the village???? a quick sweep with his sharingan and it's... clones, and after trailing them, he finds that they've got... seal tags they activate with some chakra whenever one's about to naturally expire², they pull out a tag and a new one takes it's place. he hangs around, and is mildly surprised that each clone manages to catch kunai and other things that would have popped the clone with ease.
[some reflection with Kakashi ab Iruka here that makes him comfort with this new development and how much he wants to support him here that i won't elaborate bc of tine constraints]
and so when Iruka arrives back in the dead of the night, still in his anbu blacks, some scrapes and bruises, crawling in through his window, Kakashi is there waiting for him. Iruka obviously freaks out a little, and then starts apologizing for not sayihg anything about this, asking how he found out. Kakashi sheepishly confesses to using the sharingan to uhm record Iruka's drunken stupor, and finding out about the clone and clones... but also that he's like. he wants to support Iruka. that when he was in anbu, having someone at home waiting for him would have helped, and he'd like to, well, do that for Iruka. be someone he can come home to
¹until he became hokage and privy to those files hehehehehe
²assuming clones have limited lifespans, that's more to of a timer than chakra amount, if they're being made with fuuinjutsu.
Moments in Zapolyarny Palace #3
Freminet: "Not many people know this, but the house had a mom after Mother." [Talking about Risa.]
Lyney: [Looks at Freminet in surprise] "You've never brought this up, and it's the first I'm hearing about it. What was this mom like?"
Freminet: "She was.... nice, very nice to us even though she claimed she didn't love us."
Lyney: [About to comfort Freminet] "Oh Fremi-"
Freminet: [Cutting Lyney off] "I wish she died at least then I would still be able to see her."
Lynette: [Actually stunned] "..."
Lyney: [Startled] "D-did she do something to upset you?"
Freminet: [Through grit Teeth] "No, father did something wrong."
Lynette: "What could father have done to upset you like this?"
Freminet: "She fumbled the ball. How hard is it to tell someone your feelings? Who erases someone's memory of you so you don't have to deal with your own feelings. I can't even see Mama anymore because she's in Mondstadt and wouldn't reconise me."
Lyney: "..."
Lynette: "..."
Freminet: "All father had to do was admit she had feelings for mom, but no, she took the cowards way out. If she was going to be a coward she should have atleast killed mom. That way we could visit her grave. Now I can't see mom and Father is busy stalking her."
Lyney: "Freminet, I don't think father is stalking anyone, maybe you're confused. Why would father wipe your mom's memories, surely there's some other reason."
Freminet: "Father has operatives in Mondstadt, simply to watch mom and report her every move. I think that's stalking."
Lynette: "Thinking about it, i did notice reports being mailed with pictures of a woman coming in from Mondstadt every three weeks."
Lyney: "Lynette you don't believe that do you? Surely father has a reason."
_______________
[When Freminet first found out why Risa stopped visiting the House of the Hearth.]
Freminet: [In Shock] "You erased mom's memories?"
Arlecchino: "She is a bad influence on the children. She gives you love instead of strength. Such things will get you killed in the field. You must kill your emotions, not fester them."
Freminet: [Breif moment of frustration when the real reason registered in his mind] "Y-you... father, you motherfucker."(Curse words taught to him by both Risa and Signora whenever Arlecchino was absent.)
Arlecchino: [The crosses in her eyes glow momentarily] "This is my point exactly. She is a bad influence, you're letting your emotions control your actions and words. Also, I'm no longer Motherfucker, I won't be doing such things any longer."
___________
[Back to present time]
Freminet: "I went diving, I cried underwater for 5 hours, the water was never saltier."
Lyney: "I'm sorry?" [Genuinely confused.]
Freminet: "Don't be, mom was very attuned with the leylines for some reason. I mentioned to father that since the leylines hold memories and since mother is always caught in the anomalies somehow.... what if she runs into the leylines that hold her memories before they were erase." [Freminet smiled down at Pers who was in his lap. His eyes were dull but seemed to glow as he spoke, his bangs casting a shadow over the top half of his face.] "Father has to live in fear of Mom getting her memories back. And when mom does get her memories back, I will fill her in on everything that's happened. I can just taste the father's unease. it's euphoric."
Lyney: [Hiding behind Lynette] "W-we understand, thank you for sharing and trusting us with this..." [Whispers to Lynette] "He's possessed.... Fremi is possessed by something."
Lynette: [Shrugs. She had already seen that look on Freminet years ago when she accidentally broke pers.]
