This may be a silly question, but why is Jimmy often made the youngest in sibling headcanons?
Pearl was the youngest in Empires, and is the youngest in Hermitcraft, so i'm curious why Jimmy is often made the youngest in these headcannons over Pearl?
Because most people don't know/don't care about/actively avoid learning their exact irl ages, and go off vibes. And if Jimmy has anything, it's little brother vibes.
He was already canonically the baby brother to Lizzie in E1, so it's easy to elaborate that into any sibling heeadcanons. And he's been known to activate the older players parental/protective instincts with his whining (I.E. Doc in the DO2 open day) while his peers like to pick on him, so it can give the impression of him being the baby of the bunch.
Usually Grian's made the eldest in skybling headcanons, so it often comes down to how he treats them and they treat him back. And no one picks on Jimmy more than Grian. Whenever Jimmy tries to fight back by puffing up his chest or threatening him back Grian's also quick to put him in his place. They even tussle irl. Given he's usually HC as taller than Grian (as is also very common with younger siblings irl I believe, too) if you put that into the context of a HC where they're siblings it gives the vibes of someone who's grown up being picked on since they were smaller or by someone who is older and has no reason to fear them cause the pecking order as it were has been long sorted. I think the crossover has a lot examples of this dynamic. It very much fits into the stereotype of older kids movies where the teenage older brother is a bully.
But then there's also moments where Grian is kind, and those moments are specifically of Grian being proud, or mentoring him. Grian is frequently just better at most things in minecraft in particular, which also gives the vibes of Jimmy being a younger sibling. Grian never intentionally depends on Jimmy. As someone with much younger siblings myself, the same way parents will say their kids will always be their baby, when you're an older sibling watching someone always be a few years behind you going through everything you already have you can easily fall into that similar mindset, and it's easy to interpret/elaborate that dynamic into that.
Compared to Pearl, who is very talented and mature, so Grian treats her much more equally. Their pranks are prank wars, not one picking on the other. Pearl matches Grian, which I think is why she's not just usually older than Jimmy but frequently Grian's twin.
I think back to the charity event, where Grian and Jimmy's interactions were them having a physical fight and Grian yelling at Jimmy to follow his orders, and Grian and Pearl's interactions were Grian turning to her for a hug while his mouth was burning and being vulnerable. That contrast definitely can give off the impression that Grian is more vulnerable with Pearl - something you usually see in siblings of a closer age going through the same things at the same time - in contrast to Jimmy who he is very domineering even if they're being affectionate.
Pearl is just also... Well, Pearl is a much more mature person in general compared to both of them. She's very silly and sometimes weird, very wet cat, but she's also much more put together, able to organize things like mail services and garbage collection, and she gets along quite well with older players easily. This is the hardest one to really describe properly, and it's the thing that least correlates to where she might be HC in sibling order, since there's an argument to be made/tropes for why any given sibling is most mature, but it's something that compounds with the other things.
There's also just the fact that Jimmy's skin is cutesier. Like they all have cute skins but Jimmy's definitely gives off kicked puppy vibes more than Grian or Pearl's. Jimmy also has that tattle tale vibe to him, he's not exactly quiet when people pick on him. He's also a bit obsessed with fitting in and being in a gang, as he puts it. It's hard not to get baby brother vibes when Grian and Joel bully him yet he still chases after them declaring them to be the coolest and wanting to be their friend. (The bad boys... depending on what part of their dynamic you focus in on you could make an argument Jimmy was the responsible one and see him as the oldest but I think the majority of their dynamic definitely gives him little brother vibes.)
I think a little bit is also probably just because she has a deeper more relaxed voice, while Jimmy's voice is often shrill and excitable. (Jimmy also does the whole Youtuber Interaction thing with how he talks to the audience and advertises himself, which definitely makes him come off younger.)
And another little bit probably is just simply that, of all the people Jimmy gets sibling HCs with, he's the least skilled. He's improving as a builder but it's a process we've been able to watch happen and many of the sibling HCs are the ones who teach him and encourage him. He's not really a PvPer and he doesn't know anything about redstone. When he RPs or dresses up he picks the sorts of things even small children know about like superheroes and cowboys. (He's one of the more aggressively PG folks too which means his humour and references often stay within the realm of things younger folks find relatable like tiktok and toy story). Jimmy also is quite adamant about his youth, like how he got angry when Impulse said he was thirty and fawned over Tango calling him young. Stereotypically younger siblings often try to pretend to be older, but in this case I think it just emphasizes that he is in fact young.
Contrast that with Pearl who is constantly aggressively learning new skills on top of just picking them up quickly, and he RP ideas are things like civil servants and stories with very elaborate original worldbuilding based on her own art. And she doesn't really ever bring up her age so you have to go searching to actually find it out. It's easy enough to look at them in a vacuum and see Jimmy as younger and less experienced still learning while Pearl is someone older with a more solid foundation.
Ultimately it's a matter of what you focus on, I'm sure like with the bad boys example if you pay attention to different qualities you could come away with a different interpretation, but I think especially among people who don't care/actively avoid irl information it's easy to interpret Jimmy as younger.

Like the Ocean
~Neteyam x Deaf Metkayina reader
~Fluff
~Proofread?-no
~Summary-You are Tonowari’s youngest daughter, you were a kind soul, always doing what’s right, and we're deaf. This never stopped you from enjoying the world, and one day a certain family came.
Note: This is my first time writing about the Metkayina! I hope everyone enjoys!
Tumblr media
Your eyes sparkled as you watched the ocean. This was always your escape no matter what, it was always so beautiful and still. You smiled as you dipped your feet in, feeling the vibrations all around you. Being deaf enhanced your life in a way. Honestly, just by the way your eyes looked at everything, you’d think it was your first time seeing it. Your family never made you feel like a burden, your older siblings, Tsireya and Aonung, stopped any bullying that would be your way. Your mother, Ronal treated you as a baby, even though you were of age.
Anyways, you wouldn’t trade your life for anything. As you continued to play around you noticed people surrounding something. You assumed it might be someone hurt, so you rushed over there. Instead, you were met with a group of forest people. Your eyes widen in amazement as you began trying to get closer. Their bodies were much different, and if they trying to live here it would take them a while to learn the way of the water, you thought. You noticed two boys and two girls, but one stood out the most. His eyes had already been placed on you causing you to smile. You waved at the boy, who seemed shocked you waved and quickly returned the wave.
Aonung took notice before sending a glare toward the boy and grabbing you and pushing you slightly behind him. You frowned a bit till you noticed your father come out. Without being able to fully see him, you weren't able to keep up with what he was saying. You saw Tsireya and went her way and signed to her, “what is going on?”
She sent you a smile, “they want to stay here,” your smile widen at the thought of new friends. You clapped, something you did often to show you were happy. Tsireya laughed a little, till your mother made her way to the group. You adored your mother, constantly wanting to be with her and learn. She hadn't noticed you in the group and began speaking, she grabbed the oldest girl’s hand showing off the extra finger that you thought was cool. You slightly tapped Tsireya, “they have extra fingers! They must be very special!” She nodded slightly bringing her attention back to the conversation. Without being able to understand your eyes began wondering and fell back to the boy. His eyes were very pretty you thought as you examined the jewels he wore on his body.
You could tell the conversation had gone well by the smile laced on your sister's face. She stepped forward a bit dragging you with her. You waved at the family, causing your mother to finally notice you, “My Son, Aonung, and daughters, Tsireya and Raya will show you where you will stay.” You read his lips before smiling, “no, not my Raya!” Your mother grabbed your forearm lightly, “she will be coming with me,” and just like that you left the group, but not without waving to the new family bye.
You sat next to your mother as she softly braided your hair, you enjoyed the sensation it gave you. You softly tapped her leg turning to face the woman, “why was I not allowed to help the new family?” Her smile faltered at the mention of the forest people, “they have sky people's blood in them! They are from the forest and soon will realize they are useless in the water!” you frowned at your mother's words, “but they can still try! I bet they will prove us all wrong mom!” you smiled brightly at the older woman. One thing she loved about you, you always found the good in everything no matter what.
Tumblr media
Neteyam's eyes could not lift from you the minute he saw you. You had these big blue eyes and even though everyone else was looking at him and his family as “demon blood” you looked more amazed. Once you noticed his stare, it didn't shy you away at all you smiled back showing off your dimples. He was going to speak with you before Aonung pulled you back. As the conversation with his fathers and the chief continued his mind kept wandering to you. Lo’ak took notice and nudged him, “we’ve literally been here for five seconds,” Neteyam rolled his eyes before looking else where.
“My Son, Aonung, and daughters, Tsireya and Raya will show you where you will stay.” His eyes followed you as you stepped out with your siblings. His smile deepened before being knocked off, “no, not my Raya,” your mother grabbed you and dragged you off, but you still sent a happy wave as you walked off, “follow me!” your sister directed him, and his family to their new home.
He didn't see you for the rest of the day. Assuming you probably had more important things than helping teach him and his siblings. But the next day as he and his siblings made their way down the beach with Tsireya, Aonoung, and Rotox your figure was already there. “I will go get Raya she can help you guys a lot with learning our ways!” Tsireya ran down the beach to get the girl's attention. You sat on the sand as you continued to feel the way it moved, you were at peace till you felt a pull. You turned your head and faced your sister.
You smiled big, “good morning!” you signed as you stood up, “will you be able to help us teach the Sullys sign language?” You clapped lightly, “I would love to!” Yesterday your mother made you stay by her side, which you had no problem with only that you wanted to see the pretty boy again.
You and your sister walked to the group who had already sat in a circle, “hello, Raya I’m Tuk!” The little girl waved at you while speaking. You waved back, “you are very pretty Raya!” this time you were unable to read her lips due to her speaking so fast, so you smiled at her before looking at your sister, “she spoke too fast, what did she say?” Tsireya sighed, “Oh, guys Raya is deaf!” The four children let out a small “o” as you simply sighed heavily, “what did she say?” you signed again. Tsireya laughed, “she said you were pretty!” you smiled before signing, “thank you!”
“She said thank you!” Tsireya translated for you. As the group continued with lessons the only person you helped was Neteyam. You and he seemed to be having a conversation without words but with eyes. He understood everything you said, taking it in like a sponge. Your smile made his heart beat fast, and his eyes to you seemed a lot like the ocean. They were not the same color but they held the exact feeling you got when you were at the beach. You two had gotten so carried away that you hadn't noticed everyone else at all. You certainly had a frown as Aonung tapped you and told you it was time to leave.
“Will you teach me tomorrow?” Neteyam questioned as you got up, “yes, I will try!” Aonung sighed heavily dragging you away from the blue boy. You had a smile the rest of the day, doing everything with a little pep in your step. As nighttime rolled around you and your sister often stayed up late, talking. “Do you like anyone?” she questioned you. You were always a happy person, but you had a different energy today. You nodded while clapping, “I do!” your heart swelled thinking of the blue boy. Tsireya let out a small squeal, “who is it?” she pressed you. You smiled so hard it felt like your cheeks were to fall off, “Neteyam!” you smiled as you signed causing the girl to go into a giggling frenzy, “I knew it!” you stopped smiling and looked at the girl, “was I that obvious?” she nodded, “do you think he knows?” she shook her head, “men are stupid, there is no way he knows,” you took her words in before heading to sleep.
Neteyam stayed up all night trying to practice his sign language. He yawned as he walked close to the spot you were at. He began walking closer till you noticed him, already smiling at him you ushered for him to come closer. Neteyam sat before facing you, “you pretty,” he looked so proud of himself that you didn't have the heart to say he did it wrong. “Thank you!” you said as he smiled. You noticed him yawn before looking at him, “did you stay up practicing?” you at first didn't know if he understood, but the boy quickly nodded. You felt so loved you clapped, “that was so sweet!” you laid back signaling for him to do the same, “you pretty!” you signed to the boy. But he was already fast asleep. You smiled before kissing his forehead and going into the boy's embrace.
***
Sorry if the ends seem rushed! I have school in the morning and have no time to fix it up today! But hope you all enjoyed it!

Okay we had pappaarmin, mammaannie. Now we need uncle Connie, Reiner and jean and auntie Pieck, hutch, mikasa
I headcannon that Connie spoils his niece. He also definitely loves those baby bear suit things and buys one in every size possible. (Kids remind him of his siblings and therefore loves them (also is generally good with kids as he has experience))
As for Reiner…let’s be honest Annie teaches the kid to bully him. “Sweetie we don’t hit unless it’s uncle Reiner in that case aim for his balls”
Tbh I have no clue for Jean but he definitely has an obnoxious baby voice.
Hitch spends most of Annie’s pregnancy waiting for her to be able to drink again
Pieck is being sweet and motherly as per usual, and overall is such a sweet aunt. She and Connie teach Annie how to do hair as their kids hair is thick like armins and Annie isn’t used to that as her hair is so thin in comparison
Finally mikasa, the god mother (I don’t know who they will choose to be godfather) she bakes cookies.
Ahaha xD Good call!
The Alliance being parents to Aruani kids!
Connie's definitely the least intimidating of the bunch and Aruani kids have a blast of a time with him! He definitely does see his lost siblings in them and sometimes cries about it. Signs them up for all the local events, takes them along on market runs, is game at any hour of the day to go have some fun. Connie's also reliable in that Aruani can trust him not to let the kids get into any danger because he's been a big brother before, and he's still a great one.
Reiner's the resident sandbag - or that's what Annie tells the kids. Not that he minds particularly, because the Aruani kids make him very emotional. Watching them running around having fun reminds him of Gabi, Falco, Udo and Zofia during the Liberio festival. Two of them are still alive ofc, but the latter are long gone, and he misses the children and what he wanted to be to them. In that respect, Reiner's the man to go whenever there's a festival going on. A source of free money for all the delicious street food and sweet treats because all they have to do is give him large wet puppy eyes and he's spending every last penny of his Ambassador paycheck on them.
(The next day they continue their martial arts lessons under Annie's tutelage with Reiner as the punching bag).
Jean is... a little awkward with kids, but he's not bad at it per se. He's a little boisterous and loud, sometimes coming across as a bit aggressive but he's definitely got that protective streak (because remember, he was veeeery protective of Gabi & Falco during the final battle). The kids look up to him because he's always so well-dressed and perfectly groomed so they're definitely picking up some hair-care tips from him. Wouldn't surprise me if Armin wakes up one day to find his daughter and son standing on little chairs in the bathroom, working pomade into their blonde locks with their tongues out in concentration. "Hey, hey Papa! Do we look like Uncle Jean? What do you think?!"
Pieck is your cool aunt! She knows everything, and will teach you anything! Do the aruani kids want to dress up for the harvest festival? Auntie Pieck's got them! Do the kids want to sneak off to that abandoned windmill because there's rumours of ghosts haunting the place? Auntie Pieck's got them! Do they kids want to commit slight murder? Auntie Pieck's got them (and she'll get them out of it too!). On the rare occassion that Pieck also finds herself stuck, she's hollering out for Jean to come get her and the kids out of the mess and he's grumbling and groaning about it - but he does it anyway. Because it's his crazy girlfriend and his adorable nephew and niece.
Mikasa is the calm and cool godmother to the kids. She's definitely the most attached to them because I think she'd have liked nothing more than to start a family with Eren, and because that was never a possibility from the start, she spends her life longing for the reality she never will have. The Aruani kids make her emotional and protective in a very particular way. She loves spending time with them and even urges Aruani to drop them off at her cottage so they can take some time away for themselves. She takes them mushroom picking, teaches them horseriding, cooks them all the classic Paradisian food and snacks. She also reads to them at bedtime, but the kids beg her to tell them stories of her days in the Survey Corps and about titans.
Papa Levi is burdened with yet more children, and while he looks pissed to be having more unruly kids trying to clamber up on his lap and messing with his wheelchair, he humours everything they do T^T Because Papa Levi!
Hitch is, well, Hitch. She's bored when Annie's pregnant and is still bored once they become parents. What she needs is entertainment and she's getting none :<

(SF Bay Area, California) Meet Baby, Boo, Buster, Frost, Chipmunk, Fidget, Honey, Gizmo, Haze, Lil Mama, Oddy, Nibbles, Panda, Patches, River, Journey, Nudge, Sparks, Bits, Wander, and Wisp!
Baby (1st photo) was born December 2017. He is neutered. He's vert sweet, shy at first, but loving. He likes to lay on the back of your neck like a "parrot bunny."
Boo (2nd photo) was also born December 2017. He is neutered. He loves attention and throwing around a plastic ball when he's extra happy. Sometimes he'll even toss it back to you if he's feeling playful enough. Boo goes crazy for feeding time and will even pull the food right out of your hand if you aren't ready. He needs a home where he can get all the attention he craves and lots of time to run and play.
Buster (3rd photo) was caught in a local park. He is neutered. He's a shy bunny who lost his partner a few years ago but hasn't seemed interested in making a new friend again, but maybe he just hasn't met the right bunny yet! Buster likes to snuggle, but only when he feels like it. He will need a home where he can get lots of extra love, patience, and understanding as he adjusts to a new home with new people. Buster likely wouldn't do well in a home with other pets.
Frost, Chipmunk, Fidget, and Honey (4th photo), an adorable quad of a mother and three daughters. They're all fixed. Forst is the pale little lady on the top left. She's quite shy. Chipmunk is next to Frost, and she's also very shy. Both bunnies prefer to approach you on their own terms. Fidget (black), is the mother. She prefers when you're down on her level. She can be a little moody but she's a very good girl! Honey is the smallest, and is curious and very inquisitive. She's the snuggliest of the bunch and loves people.
Haze (6th photo) was born in May 2018. He's neutered. He's been handled since he was a baby so he's pretty good with people. He can be a bit shy but likes a good snuggle once he gets to know you. He's curious and loves to explore. He's a shy sweetheart!
Gizmo (5th photo) and Lil Mama (7th photo) should be kept together as they are a bonded pair. They can get a bit jealous when you pet one and not the other. Lil Mama runs the cage, she’s definitely the boss and Gizmo seems to be ok with it. Both are super sweet and are good with each other and people. Both enjoy treats, head scratches, and body rubs. Lil Mama was rescued from a park when she was abandoned with ear bites so bad you couldn't see in her ears. She gave birth to seven babies in December 2017, and Gizmo is one of her children. They love to run and binky and snuggle together.
Oddy & Nibbles (8th photo) are a bonded pair and are both fixed. They're brother and sister and were born in May 2018. They're looking for a patient, loving home. The best fit would likely be one with adults only. They can be space protective and territorial, but they do enjoy snuggles. This is usually best on the floor with a blanket and let them roam and come up to you.  They do enjoy being held, once we are comfortable with you.
Panda (9th photo) is a very silly rabbit/ She was born in December 2017 and is spayed. She loves food, though she can be a bit finicky. She's a very good girl!
Patches, River, Journey, and Nudge (10th photo) are all fixed. Patches is the mother (golden color) of the crew and she loves her babies, especially Journey. He's a mama's boy! He loves attention. River can be a little bit of a bully and may prefer to be a solo rabbit. Nudge is a lover once she gets comfortable and knows you. She enjoys banana, sticks, apple, and seems curious yet cautious. Patches is a bit indifferent and while she will accept cuddles, she'll run away if she's not feeling it.
Sparks, Bits and Wander (11th photo) are all siblings, born in June 2018. They're all fixed. Sparks loves to clean his siblings and snuggle them. He'll also get spurts of energy and will zip around his space. He likes to be cuddled but first you have to earn his trust. Bits is a snuggler too and will even sit with you. Wander is sweet and will snuggle too, but often wants his own space.
Wisp (12th photo), short for Whisper, is a little guy and a little shy. He's a solo bunny because he was being picked on by his siblings. Once he trusts you, wow, he's such a curious and sweet boy! He really enjoys head scratches and body rubs. He also likes to see outside and observe everything that's going on.
These bunnies are all located in Concord, California. If you're interested in learning more about them, reach out to April at [email protected]. They're asking for a $20 rehoming fee. Get in touch today if you can give one of these sweet rabbits a wonderful new and loving home!

Ron 🤝 Carewyn
Of all of Bill's siblings, Carewyn knew Ginny and Ron the least well. Considering she hadn't gone to school with them at all, she had only really been able to interact with them over the holidays or (in Ginny's case) the one school year before the youngest Weasley went to Hogwarts. Because Ron went to school the year immediately following Carewyn's own graduation and eventually chose to stay at school over Christmas break for most of his time at Hogwarts, the young up-and-coming lawyer had the least amount of time to get to spend time with Ron one-on-one. Despite this, Carewyn was still very fond of Ron, as she was with all the Weasleys, and Ron had warm feelings toward Carewyn both as one of Bill and Charlie's closest friends and as someone who honestly acted a lot like his mother, Molly, except (in Fred and George's words) "cooler." She'd even gifted Ron one of his largest and nicest Chudley Cannons posters.
One of the things Ron and Carewyn were able to talk about during the holidays, on those occasions where Carewyn could come over, were their respective friend groups. Ron told Carewyn all about Harry Potter and Hermione Granger the summer after his first year, and Carewyn was immediately reminded of her time with Bill, Rowan, Penny, and Ben, who had been her first friends.
"Hermione's Muggle-born, but she's the smartest girl in our year, easily," Ron explained. "She even stays awake during Binns's lectures, somehow! And passes all his tests!"
This made Carewyn giggle behind her hand, remembering the wonderful days at school when her best friend Rowan would give her own History of Magic lectures in front of their class while Binns was asleep.
"Maybe she should teach the class herself, if she's so capable at it," Carewyn said amusedly. "Then maybe everyone would get a proper education in the subject."
Seeing usually cool Carewyn laugh made a brighter, prouder light dance through Ron's expression and he grinned that little bit bigger.
"You'll love Harry when you meet him, though," he said fervently. "All of you will. He's the nicest bloke I've ever met. And you should see him on a broom! He can catch the Snitch like nobody's business. In his real first match, he even caught the bloody thing in his mouth! It was an accident, mind you, but still -- a first year catching the Snitch at all, and that quickly -- you gotta admit, that's pretty brilliant!"
"It is," agreed Carewyn. "As is a first year being chosen for a Quidditch team at all -- even the best fliers I knew at school were only chosen in their second year. Potter has good reason to be proud of himself."
Ron's expression grew a bit more serious, even though the smile didn't fade.
"...I know," he said lowly. "That's the thing, though. 'Cause he does have good reason to be proud! He's brave, clever, funny -- brilliant at Quidditch...not to mention that he beat You-Know-Who not just as a baby, but even this year when he wanted at the Philosopher's Stone, all by himself! He's rich -- he practically bought the whole trolley when we first met, just so we could try all the different sweets together! The professors all like him, aside from Snape...McGonagall even gifted him a brand new Nimbus 2000, when he first joined the Gryffindor team!"
Carewyn raised her eyebrows. "Really?"
Minerva must've really believed in Potter's abilities, to be that blatant in her favoritism toward her Quidditch team, she thought more cynically than her voice and face would suggest. And to pay for something the player could've more than afforded himself...
Ron nodded.
"Most people like him, and everybody knows his name. But even with all that...Harry doesn't see what he's done as that big a deal. He never brags, or acts all high-and-mighty, or looks down his nose at anyone...well, maybe aside from Malfoy, but that prat deserves it, trust me. And the only reason I can figure for it is...at home, his family -- his uncle, aunt, and cousin, I mean -- treat him like rubbish! They bully him, and ignore him, and put him down -- they don't treat him like family. When he's Harry Potter! Not just the Boy Who Lived -- but a really, truly awesome person..."
Ron rested his head on his hands, his eyes narrowing on the carpet a bit. His smile had faded over the course of his explanation.
"...That's why...I want Harry here, this summer. I want him here, and away from those rotten Muggles who tried to 'stamp' his magic out of him and used to lock him up in a closet under the stairs when they were cross with him! I want to be there for him, like at school -- to make sure he knows he's brilliant, no matter what the Muggles say. I know we don't have much, and I know our place is cramped and rundown and all, but...I want him here, with us. I want him to know what family's supposed to be like. And I think...if I brought him here, I think he'd be just as happy as I'd be to have him! The thought of being invited to my house -- my small, crowded, rickety old house with my tiny shoe-box of a room -- it made Harry so happy, you would've thought I was Father Christmas or something!"
Ron looked up at Carewyn with something oddly self-conscious in his flushed, freckled face. It was like he was experiencing a feeling he'd never really known before and was having trouble explaining.
"...I just...he needs me, Carey. You know?"
Carewyn's expression softened. Very gently she brought a hand onto Ron's shoulder so as to steer him into a sideways hug.
"I do," she said kindly. "And you know, I think Bill does too."
She felt Ron relax under her arm, clearly encouraged.
"Yeah?" asked Ron. Like Ginny, he'd always looked up to Bill.
"Mm-hmm," said Carewyn with a fond red-lipsticked smile. "Because from what Bill told me later...he felt the same way about me, back in the day. Thinking I shouldn't have to do things by myself and wanting to be there for me. Wanting me over at the Burrow for the winter holidays, just so I didn't have to spend Christmas alone."
This brought the smile back to Ron's face.
"That's why I stayed at Hogwarts this last Christmas," he explained. "Hermione was going back to her parents, and the rest of the boys in our dorm weren't staying either...so Harry would've spent the holidays all alone, if I hadn't stayed..."
Carewyn smiled and gave Ron's shoulder a light squeeze. "I'm sure Harry really appreciated that."
The conversation was so casual that Carewyn didn't think on it again until years later, in the midst of the Second Wizarding War.
The Ministry of Magic had fallen to the Death Eaters, and everything both there and in the outside world was grim. Dolores Umbridge was head of the new Muggle-Born Registration Commission, and the Auror Department was out seeking "Undesirables" for their new Death Eater overlords. And one day, in the midst of several trials for captured Muggle-borns, Carewyn collided with a rather harried Magical Maintenance wizard in sopping wet robes looking for someone in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
"Sorry, I'm looking for Bernie -- have you -- ?"
As soon as Carewyn walked by the small, ferret-esque wizard talking with the witch at the second desk on the right, though, she immediately sensed something was off. Carewyn didn't know Reg Cattermole at all, but her natural Legilimency had become very sensitive in her time as a lawyer, and she could just sense deception coming off of him. What he was saying was a lie. And so she paused off to the side and watched the exchange.
"Oh -- hello, Reg," said the witch, sounding bemused. Clearly she wasn't incredibly familiar with the custodian either, but was humoring him, even as she continued to organize the files in front of her. "I'm afraid Bernie's already left -- he's gone off to help with turning the rain off in the Department of Magical Transportation -- "
"Wha -- ?" the wizard called Reg couldn't seem to stop himself, before halfheartedly accepting the witch's assistance. "Right -- um -- thanks..."
As he turned as if to head back to the lift, he nearly ran right into Carewyn.
"Ah!" his eyes widened noticeably at the sight of her. "Care -- I mean, Ms. Cromwell! H-how nice to see you..."
Carewyn's blue eyes narrowed upon his face.
"Likewise," she said lightly.
Considering we've never spoken.
It was as Carewyn stared into this stranger's eyes, though, that something scratched at the inside of her brain -- multiple familiar, happy voices, echoing in delight at the sight of her --
"Carewyn dear!" "Carey!"
Carewyn flinched. The shift in expression made the wizard called Reg falter a bit too, his expression looking noticeably more wary. Images of Albert Runcorn looking oddly anxious danced over her mind.
"She had to go down to Courtroom Three with Umbridge, she couldn't refuse -- "
"You said you were looking for Bernie Pensworth, Reg?" Carewyn said abruptly. "Why don't you come with me -- I already told him I'd help him with 'turning the rain off' downstairs..."
The wizard called Reg looked stuck halfway between relief and utter terror.
"Ah -- y-yeah! Uh -- that'd be great! Thanks!"
He followed Carewyn back to the lift, shooting her unsure glances out the side of his eye. Carewyn could hear more familiar voices rippling off of him --
"Did you say Occlumency? ...You know Carey had to study that too, right, Ron? That's the opposite of Legilimency..."
"Shame he has to study it with Severus Snape, though -- "
" -- he needs me, you know?"
It was strange enough hearing Bill and Arthur in this stranger's head -- but it was the final familiar sentiment, and the image of Albert Runcorn in the elevator accompanying it, that made Carewyn stiffen.
Ron...?
" -- he needs me -- "
Carewyn and the wizard called Reg made it back into the lift, and Carewyn very sharply closed it behind her before anyone else could join them inside.
Reg made as if to press a button, but Carewyn stopped him, placing her hand over the console.
"Which floor do you need to get off at?" she asked in a very soft, urgent voice.
Reg gave a start. "Huh?"
"Which floor is your friend on?" said Carewyn.
She looked right at the modestly-sized man, fixing him with a very sharp, meaningful expression.
Very slowly the wizard called Reg -- in truth, Ron Weasley -- seemed to melt, his expression giving way to pure, unadulterated relief.
"...Level Nine," he breathed. "They're both in Courtroom Three, with Umbridge -- "
"Then we're getting you down there," said Carewyn firmly.
She took out her wand and used it to push in the floor button for the ninth floor. While doing so, she whispered, "Epoximise."
The button, rather than going back into its proper place after being pushed, stayed stuck where it was. The lift then headed straight down, even seemingly ignoring the other floors where people were waiting.
"Tonks taught me that trick," Carewyn said with a wry smile. "Folks around here use it as a cheap way to get to their offices quickly, when they're running late for their shifts..."
Ron as Reg Cattermole grinned from ear to ear. "Tonks really is bloody brilliant!"
"Yes, she is."
Ron's smile faltered as Carewyn turned to him very solemnly.
"Listen -- we don't have much time. I was just upstairs near the Minister's office, and I heard someone say something about a hole in Umbridge's office door. I don't know if it's connected to what you're up to, but considering your friends are down there with Umbridge right now, I have a bad feeling they might've caught on to you being here. If so, it's very possible the Minister might order the fireplaces in the Atrium sealed, to try to prevent anyone from escaping -- "
Ron noticed them passing the Atrium out the side of his eye, but Carewyn didn't even make any effort to stop it early. She knew Ron wasn't going to try to bail out without his friends -- just as she never would've.
"My Sticking Charm might keep this lift from being called elsewhere for a little while, but only that. Fifteen minutes, at most. I need you to get to Courtroom Three, get your friends, and get them back here as fast as you can. Then take the lift straight to the Atrium. I'll go back up the stairs myself, so that this lift stays here for you..."
When they arrived, the doors clanged open with a cool, serene "Level Nine: Department of Mysteries." Both Carewyn and Ron bolted out, heading right for the stairs.
"Carey -- " said Ron. He couldn't stop himself from throwing his much shorter arms around her and giving her a tight hug. "You're the best!"
But Carewyn quickly extricated herself, even as she squeezed his arm affectionately. "Go, quickly!"
As Ron ran off, she couldn't help but call "Be careful!" in such a gravelly whisper after him that she wasn't sure if he heard her or not. Sadly she couldn't afford to wait to make sure he made it back -- instead she had to run back upstairs.
Carewyn wouldn't be able to dawdle around in the Atrium, to ensure Ron and his friends' escape -- but maybe if she went back and sabotaged the other lifts the same way, it might just slow down anyone coming from Level One or Two just enough to give them a real chance...

Chronicle of Abuse v2
Hey guys... I need help.
I've been thinking about what kind of a person my sister really is, whether all this is just sibling rivalry or she's actually been abusing me for years. I've talked to many counsellors, support staff and my therapists but they don't seem to have an answer. Maybe you'll know the better terminology to describe her behaviour and I'll let you be the judge.
When we were toddlers
Has hit me before.
Has sent me a threatening note. She even explained what it meant to me: She is allowed to hit me (repeated three times) and she is allowed to scream at me.
She abandons me whenever her friends / my older cousin comes along.
Always made me play the bad guy in our games, or in my drawings.
When we were children
Again with the threats. She threatened to tattle to our mum by using a "special device" to send her notes, and I was petrified because she would scream at me instead of disciplining me properly.
Slammed me against a wall once during a fight. I cried and my parents asked her what did she do, and she said that she did nothing.
When she first went to middle school, her own bullies got worse so she kind of took it out on me (can't really blame her for that)
Started creating some really weird stories. When I expressed that I'm uncomfortable with them, she gets angry and I have to pretend that I liked them.
Jumped out into the road many times just to avoid a dog, and throws a tantrum every time she sees one (which is a lot). You have no idea how much her dog phobia traumatized me
Sometimes says I'm not allowed to do certain things while doing the same things herself.
Told me many times that our parents are spoiling me and that I'm an entitled little brat, and she would get very upset if Mum and Dad finally agreed to get me something but she didn't have the same exact thing. In fact, now when I get something for myself, I'm kind of still dreading her throwing a fit.
After Mum almost divorced Dad over not having a cake for her birthday, my sister threatened that she would throw a tantrum like Mum did if she doesn't have a cake for her birthday. (She told me this when we're alone, I think. I forgot if Dad was present too)
My Dad has told her to not scream at me many times, but she never listened to him.
When we were teens
If I told my parents that I'm disagreeing with what my sister said (I often had to whisper), she would get really close to my face and GROWL.
We went to the same primary school and were both bullied by our classmates. When I cry, my sister tends to just tell me to shut up.
She got into Harry Potter and Game of Thrones for a bit, continuing on the weird stories. She would also read out the books in an accent that sounds more like English (which personally, I found very pretentious). I couldn't leave or she'll yell at me.
She tried to pressure me into dating boys when I came out as bi, and was very dismissive and asked me if I'm making everything related to LGBTQ+ when I came out to her as gay, and tried to adopt a more butch look.
Technically this doesn't count as affecting me, but there was a time where my sister wanted a manga but my Dad said no, so she threw another tantrum until he finally bought it for her.
She literally said "You're not allowed to treat me like this" when I'm unhappy with her. It happened a few times I think.
Demanding me to take a post down on my social media if it had swear words.
She would scream at Smokey like she did with me whenever he bit her (basically, being a typical baby kitten). I told her to not do that, her response was "What else can I do apart from screaming?"
When we are adults / Present day/ Ongoing
The transphobia. She once told me that she has heard of trans people saying that what Rowling said isn't transphobic, but now I'm pretty sure she was lying to me.
Constant, overt anti-Chinese racism. This happened after I told her her rants about dogs in the family chat are making me very uncomfortable.
Just being dismissive to literally anything that has to do with me, even when I'm trying to warn her about a cryptocurrency scam that I almost fell victim to.
So, there you have it. That's as much as I can think of right now.
I've heard from some friends that my sister might be a narcissist, while my parents often told me she has a lack of awareness of things/inertia and that she's very blunt in general. It almost felt like they're letting her get away with the stuff she did.
I've been trying to find support for dealing with a possibly abusive sibling, but I don't seem to find anything. I need your help. Please. I don't know what to do.

HONESTLY? the one thing i AM excited for when we do our christmas thing (on the 29th) is that my niece is gonna be there. i LOOOOOVE HER TO BITS shes so cute shes 4 and she calls me he most the time based on pure confusion alone which is a good thing, but thats not the only reason!!!
for the longest time me and my younger sibling (we're like a year apart) were the babies of the family 😭 we went 16 years without anyone new and then my niece was born and honestly. likeG RRGR this is such a good thing because now SHES the baby and theres less focus on me im. SO HAPPYY like it was for QUITE A WHILE i guess me being 15 when all my family is pretty old made it that way but like. i genuinely think most the attention will be on her so. thanks gurl i appreciate you
also i might have another niece soon??? if everything goes well 🥳 she should be due in january or february. i wonder what she'll be like? my niece is so sillay to me and honestly its like.
im thankful that im breaking the cycle in some way, my family is VERY emotionally repressed and unhelpful like. my sister told me she'd beat my ass if i ever cut myself. i GET IT because shes had a history with that sort of thing, shes trying to scare me out of it so the INTENT is well, but the way she approached it absolutely was not 💀 like the vibe is just. i share more about my mental health with my friends then i ever would with my family cuz it makes me so viscerally uncomfortable
but i hope i can be good to her. i remember she wanted to draw with me and i pulled out all my color pencils for her and we drew and she felt sad that her flower wasnt as good as mine (shes FOUR i dont blame her 😭 it was still so cute to me regardless) and me and my sister told her like hey!! its alright that its different, if you practice more you'll get better and who cares!! you should love yr flower because you made it, its your flower and she felt better 😭💞 WAHHHH i love her sm
i like to bother her cuz shes MEAN TO ME SOMETIMES she calls me stinky and bullies me alright you are FOUR YEARS OLD i will literally pick you up and spin you like a pizza dont test me!!! idk its. something in me i get like cuteness aggression almost, like id treat her the way i treat my CAT if it wasnt socially. awkward but ill just like poke her or pat her head like IDK how to describe? it gives me the satisfaction that petting a cat would even if she doesnt care that much its like my way of showing her i care or somethn. shes 4 so it probably doesnt matter to her but. little things!!! also we hug when we say goodbye now which makes me happy its not that she didnt want to before its just that. shes very small of course and me and my younger sibling are the tallest in our immediate family AND i wear all black i look tired im quiet like. i used to scare her 😭
she used to REALLY love me when she was a baby (huge relief for me cuz im always scared of babies and making them cry on accident or something) and then we had a quiet period because i was too socially awkward to like. I KNOW SHES JUST A KID but i get anxious anyways cuz im still TALKING TO A PERSON.. but im better at it now cuz i know her. ive really never been around any kids at all since like i said, we were the youngest for a while, SO. this is all pretty new to me but i love her anyways

Seasons Ramblings
This story likes to consume my mind whenever I have a minute of not being busy. It's disrupting the reading I want to do, because I'll zone out and think of Seasons, and the words in the book go blurry.
Read more for length.
I might've mentioned this before, but it comes up in a chapter I'm trying to "fill in" (sometimes I write an outline of events and a few paragraphs and fuck off to the next scene, I'm impatient like that) that Shannon isn't picky about food.
And all I can think is: "Viv! You had a child who was pretty sweet as a tot, who was super grateful when he got the rare toy or a pet dog! He never complained about any foods you put in front of him! You had a fairly calm child, and you mistreated him until it backfired on you, and you blamed Shannon for it!"
I mean, Shannon's a wee bit fucked up in adulthood (thanks to his Dear Old Dads), but he's overall a good person. Vivian doesn't appreciate any of this!!! He's a moron!!!
As for the other kids... I've been thinking about how well El gets along with his baby brothers. This is especially true with Howie. With them growing up together, there isn't any picking on each other or even deliberate bullying--which does happen with Bee and Howie sometimes.
When Sophie left, El was alone for a long time. (At some point, I need to write that from Sophie's POV, since leaving was a hard decision for her to make.)
Vivian was still pretty sore from losing Sophie, his darling daughter. Combine that with his resentment of Shannon. He was pretty soured on the idea of having more children.
I know early Seasons makes a lot of parallels between Howie and Shannon, but there are a lot between El and Shannon made later. But unlike Shannon, El had no interaction with anyone outside the house except if Vivian took him to a bookstore or something. Which was pretty rare. Even then, he seldom had the chance to talk to anyone but his father.
Shannon was only twelve full years of life when Sophronia was born. El was just shy of turning sixty-four when Vivian finally gave him the companionship he'd been asking for.
El treated Howie like a blessing. Same with Bee when he came along, although getting a second brother was a bonus. Having Howie meant no longer being alone.
He was kind to his brothers, and they think of him fondly in return. They were young enough, they don't always remember everything he did for them, but growing up around someone who treats you well endears them to you.
And El treasured having companionship.
Not to say they've never fought. I don't doubt they've had spats. But all three of the boys know that if they don't work out their disagreements or hold any resentment, they don't have anyone else in the world.
It's a good thing they get along, because that isolation could easily be abused by any of the three of them. Arguably, Bee has his moments of taking advantage of their situation, although it's not malicious, and he usually figures out when he's taken something too far.
Meanwhile, I'm anxious to show how the boys interact with Shannon. They adore Sophie, but... Well, I will not spoil things! Just that I've had way too much fun with writing Shannon scenes, haha. :)
Shannon used to be envious of Sophronia, but not jealous. He wanted what she had from their parents. Due to their age difference, he had a tendency to mostly ignore her. He'd still interact with her warmly. He wasn't going to be mean to a baby. But she was... a baby. A toddler.
Sophie wanted his attention--as little siblings do--so she could be annoying at times. He was patient. But Viv was locking him in cellars and later keeping them apart as often as possible for her safety, so she didn't have a chance to bond with him as she got older.
Now that they're adults... Well, Seasons covers that.
Sophie's feelings towards El are similar to how El felt about Howie, but not quite as strongly. She was old enough that he posed no threat to her position as favorite, and since both children were winter, they were on equal footing to some extent with Vivian.
Well, sort of. El is actually second favorite to Sophie, but it's a marginal difference, and Sophronia left Vivian. Soooooo...
It's also not in Sophie's nature to be envious? She's honestly so chill. Brielle said, "I want to grow old and live normally like a human. I love you, but let's divorce." Guess who was at Brielle's second wedding in full support?
Sophie's a "I want the people I love to be happy, even if it's not with me" person.
And she adores Howie and Bee.  Even if they are awakening that want of children in her pretty badly.

(I’m sorry this wouldn’t all fit in the tags)
Okay so just my opinion on a way it could go down
(Very long post under the cut)
A Uchiha clan lives au
Sasuke is an honestly really happy an positive/optimistic kid (I’m gonna compare his attitude to canon Naruto’s) but occasionally we get to see moments where we realise how much pressure he’s under from his parents after his brother disappeared and never returned (in this au itachi couldn’t complete his mission to kill his clan and so he ran away from the village in the dead of night and became a rogue shinobi, no one ever found out why so they just assume he’s either dead or a deserter, either way Sasuke becomes the only son and his father puts all of his high expectations on him and he’s struggling with his allegiance to his clan and village a lot like itachi), kakashi will still be team sevens sensei (he is exactly the same trauma filled mess he is canonically, and as such he is a train wreck with train wreck students but hey it works out in the end, but also he still has the one sharingan, but he has to teach himself to use it because the uchiha clan hates him for stealing obito’s eye and they don’t think he deserves it, so they hate him and treat him worse than scum, they petition the hokage to Sasuke moved off his team because of his but third refuses in one of his few half decent acts, so Sasuke and kakashi have some issues but get over it eventually) (side note: itachi was once asked by the clan to steal Kakashi’s eye because they were together in anbu, in a rare show of spine from itachi he refuses, citing how valuable kakashi is to the village)
Naruto (who will be red headed because I said so and they said all of the uzumakis have red hair and I’ve decided he should too, it also increases his relation to negative later on and I want even more obvious parallels between them) has his canon backstory but the bullying took a lot more of a toll so he has a lot of sasuke’s canon attitude, aloof but also just kind of angry and mean, (maybe here he also knows why the villagers scorn him, or at least has put together some context clues from how he’s treated, and he knows getting angry will only make him more like nine tails, so he spends a lot of time trying to repress his emotions so they just blow up later)
Sakura stays basically the same, except she doesn’t have a crush on anyone, so some of her craziness and jealousy aren’t really present (she’s still kinda boy crazy, but it’s like a new guy every week and no one can keep them straight, she kind of grows out of the weekly crushes eventually as she becomes more serious about her training) so she seems more chill in that regard, acting a lot more like an irritated sibling with both Sasuke and Naruto (inner Sakura is definitely a thing, mostly just a way more extreme version of her current frustration) and she’s a lot more of a girls girl because her and ino were never driven apart so they stayed besties forever (she still cuts her hair just as a pledge to start training harder and keep up with everyone and has nothing to do with Sasuke, ino does it with her in camaraderie)
Inoshikacho stays exactly as they are because they are wonderful perfect babies and I love them (without the Sasuke crush for ino)
For a little bit of spice, neji and hinata switch so that hinata is older and more experienced like neji as the next hyuuga heir, and neji is younger and trying to learn from hinata, he’s still branch and she’s main, but he’s okay with the fate laid out for him as her protector but hinata isn’t, she absolutely fucking hates the idea of him dying for her and she regularly fights her father about it, it’ll get to the point where neji dies for her in the war and hinata is so devastated that she comes home and completely changes the family structure, finding a way to disable the crest/seal on their foreheads and declares that both families are one equal one now and everyone can get over it, her father fights her so hard on it until she reminds him of his brothers sacrifice and he relents to let her do as she pleases
On that note, team gai and team kurenai switch places, so kurenai is the older team that held back a year from the exams and all of them are older and only slightly more experienced than the others (also, in this au, Shino was taken to the root instead of his cousin, he eventually leaves to become part of kurenai team while technically spying for danzo but he quickly decides he likes these people a whole lot better than the root, kakashi recognises him from his time in anbu and gives kurenai and warning and uses his old anbu contacts (Yamato) to get him officially transferred to lord thirds anbu and then discharged so that he’s officially a genin with team kurenai), their personalities (besides hinata being a lot more confident and not crushing on Naruto) stay the same, team gai is a year younger and leaves school with the rest of the teams, and their dynamics are pretty much the same (except neji being less proficient and still learning and a little less cold and angry, though still somewhat with some of the coldness that comes with being part of their clan)
So some additional story notes
Because Sasuke isn’t traumatised the same way, he doesn’t run with orochimaru, choosing instead to stay a learn from kakashi in spite of his fathers orders (kakashi also knew a fair deal more about itachi in this au, so eventually he tells Sasuke what really happened on that mission and Sasuke resolves to hunt down his brother, his team refuses to let him go alone, so kakashi convinces Lord third (who is still alive for a bit because orochimaru had no reason to come destroy the leaf if he isn’t recruiting Sasuke) to make it an official mission to track him down. Along the way they find tsunade when one of them gets injured, and Sakura bullies her into training her, so they leave and travel around while tsunade teaches her medical ninjutsu and Sakura definitely doesn’t pick up her gambling habit (she’s way more subtle about it tho) and tsunade sees Naruto and the fox chakra thing and recommends jiraiya and then helps them track him down, and they convince him to train Naruto and they disappear for a bit to mount miyoboku (Naruto is really reluctant to leave Sasuke but he does after Sasuke convinced him to go) where he finally learns to talk to kurama while he controls nature energy, he already found out about the fox and what happened from kakashi, and when kakashi found out he wasn’t being taken care of he was more than a little angry about it, (he didn’t know because he basically wasn’t in the village during his anbu tenure and when he was he was avoiding the shit out of his mentors kid because he was expressly forbidden from talking to him about the incident or who his parents were because he was told it would help him have a normal childhood, lies lies and more lies, kakashi eventually apologised and explained everything he knew and told him stories about both of his parents and how they helped raise him and he gave him every picture and note and everything he could dig up of them, Naruto felt like he really knew him after that)
So then it’s just kakashi and Sasuke on this mission to find his brother and they do, as part of the akatsuki, itachi wants nothing to do with his brother he abandoned or the captain he disappointed, luckily for him they are easily pushed away by mean words (kakashi didn’t believe that shit talk for a second) and he explains that after he left he had to do something, and he thought the best way he could protect the village was by infiltrating the akatsuki and finding out what they were up to, they’re after all the jinchuriki including Naruto, Sasuke vows not to let them get him and they go back (itachi stays to continue collecting info) and find him to tell him what’s happening and why he has to stay hidden for three years while he trains
Sakura returns with lady tsunade in tow and tsunade is convinced to take over the position of hokage after third dies peacefully in his sleep (no one can prove that isn’t what happened /hj)
So now we’re basically on track with the series and it will play out pretty similarly (no one besides the konoha twelve really change all that much, except itachi I guess) only Sasuke is with the village so orochimaru is a player in the game but he’s kind of background and just another antagonist to deal with
It all plays out basically how it happens in the show after this, Naruto is still definitely the main character even if my post is mostly about Sasuke I promise
What Would You Do With the Konoha 12?
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve attempted to rewrite Naruto in the past and one of the first blockades I found was, surprisingly, how many different interesting directions the different characters could be taken in.
Let’s take Sakura Haruno for example. Would you keep her a medic ninja, a genjutsu master, a wood release user, or something else? Would you lean into how emotional she is or would you make her less sensitive over time? Would you make her a civilian child or from a prominent clan like Sasuke and Naruto? Would she keep Inner Sakura? How would you handle her rivalry with Ino, if you keep it, and her motivations? How would you handle her relationship with Sasuke? Would you lean into her femininity or make her more of a tomboy? Would you make her more like Naruto like in the original or would you try to make her more of the earth to Naruto and Sasuke’s sun and moon or some secret third option? And there are many more questions and decisions you could make with her character and role in the story, of course.
Because there are so many options for all of the Konoha 12 (plus others, but let’s not get in over our heads), I’m curious to see what choices different people might make. And now that I have an account on a very creativity-driven website, I can ask. So,
What would you do with/How would you write the Konoha 12 if you were rewriting Naruto?

Anon from yesterday hehe, so what I had in my mind was that, reader is James' stepsibling (since I'm poc) and is in Slytherin. Hence he hates them. Even in Slytherin they're not respected and bullied cus they're nice. They also try to be like James and are animagus only so could get love but James confesses he hates his sibling.
Fast forward, reader marries regulus who again treats them like crap. Their marriage is sad. Until maybe something happens and regulus realises their value and later even James accepts them. So basically shit ton of angst with happy ending.
Sorry for long request. You can make it as dark and angsty as you can
𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 — 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤
☆ CW: ANGST, suicide attempt, a lot of cursing, family issues, bullying, James (probably OOC, but idgaf<3), being really, really mean, Regulus being a bad husband. | word count: 5.4k. ☆ a/n: First time writing Reg, sorry. Part II it's still in the making (yes almost a year later, leave me alone lmao)
·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙
Can’t the dark side light my way?
Another morning was waking up to an empty bed.
Rolling on your side, you sighed pressing your cheek against the silk pillows. Every morning was the same, every day felt the same in this old house.
Wrapping yourself in the soft robe, you walked downstairs, to the kitchen, where your husband was already, a cup of black coffee in one hand and the daily prophet in the other.
“Good morning.” You said as you did every morning.
“Good morning,” Regulus muttered back, as he did every morning.
Monotone, a routine, tasteless. That's how you could describe your marriage. Oh, and loveless.
“I'm going to Diagon Alley, do you need anything?” You asked, side against the doorframe.
“Can you buy more of those cinnamon rolls you brought last week?” Regulus lifted his gaze from the newspaper.
You nodded and he muttered a quiet thanks, and with that, you were off. It was always like this, boring conversations, obligatory questions, obligatory answers. He wasn't your husband, he was more like your roommate, perhaps a stranger whom you shared a roof with.
Diagon Alley was crowded, as it always was. Store after store, you stopped by the local bakery, smiling at the (apparently) only thing you had in common with your husband.
To say you didn’t care about Regulus would be a lie, even if it was an arranged marriage, and even if you two had your discrepancies in the past, he was now someone who circulated your orbit daily. Someone whom you liked it or not was going to be there for a long, long time. Regulus was more of a ghost, a phantasmagoric entity that floated around you from time to time, barely speaking, barely acknowledging your existence.
But fights? Were there too. Rather constantly.
Sometimes over nothing, sometimes over past wounds, that were still fresh, sometimes because of his family, sometimes because of yours. Fights always ended up the same, with you sobbing against your silky pillows, and Regulus sleeping in one of the guest rooms.
“Excuse me” A feminine voice behind you dragged you out of your melancholic daze. Turning around, your eyes widened as you recognised the redhead woman in front of you, with a shy smile and a baby with wild hair and green eyes in her arms. “I’m sorry for bothering you, I was just passing by and I saw you here. Say hi Harry.” She cooed at the smiling baby in her arms, who eyed you curiously.
“It’s okay.” You assured her, not sounding convinced at all. “Hello there.” You smiled at the little Harry, who just giggled, his little teeth peeking through his small lips.
“How you’ve been?” Lily asked, clearly trying to start a conversation. “I’m sorry if it seems a bit… meddlesome. It’s just, I never see you around and, you know.” She looked around, visibly nervous.
“Lily.” You spoke softly. “I understand.” You knew where this conversation was heading, and it was something you weren’t really in the mood for. “You don’t have to talk or interact with me if you don’t want to, I don’t mind.” You stopped caring about that long ago.
“I do want to!” She chirped, almost offended. She understood how difficult your situation was, but she was, after all, your stepbrother’s wife. “Harry’s birthday is next week, I was going to send you the invitation, but, hence we are here—”
“James won’t be happy to see me there.” It was true, a crude truth though. Lily frowned but didn’t object, proving you right. “I don’t want to ruin Harry’s birthday party with my presence, besides, I don’t think Regulus would even consider it, I’m pretty sure his brother will be there. ”
“Oh.” Lily quietly muttered, she didn’t think about that further. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it.” You gave her a faux smile, one she didn’t believe at all. “Excuse me, I have to go. I’ll see you around.” Another lie. “Goodbye Harry.” You waved at the infant, who just looked at you with his big, green eyes.
The second you stepped out of the bakery, you heard Lily’s voice calling your name. Once again, you turned around, clutching the paper bag against your chest. You really wanted to go home, but you were too polite to ignore her. She approached you, with a fierce determination in her eyes.
“Look. I know James isn’t the best brother.” She didn’t use the correct title, just like she always did back at school, and James always corrected her, frustrated. “I know he was a total asshole in school, and I’m sorry I never speak up or did something to stop him. I understand family can be difficult, God, my sister? Petunia, she despites me.” She chuckled slightly, shaking her head. “I’m not trying to be a bridge between you two, I won’t force you to reach out to him either, I just want to see you happy. I’m was going to talk to James tonight, and probably scold him for everything he has done these past years, perhaps a few years late, but better late than never, right?”
It seemed too, genuine.
You were speechless. With a deep sigh, you give in, Lily was too persistent, and you were sure she wouldn’t give up, she was head girl after all.
“Fine.” You smiled, this time it was a real smile. “I’ll talk to Regulus tonight as well, I can’t promise you anything, but, I’ll try.”
“Thank you.” Your sister-in-law hugged you, for real. She smelled like peaches and cinnamon, and baby powder. “Thank you, I promise you, everything will get better.”
Everything will get better.
·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙
“No. Absolutely no.” Regulus stood up from the armchair, frowning. “Are you out of your mind?”
“It’s just a party, Regulus.” You interjected, pinching the bridge of your nose. Why did he have to be so uptight? “It won’t hurt. Lily really wants us to go.”
“Us?” He asked, raising his hands, annoyed. “There is no us.”
He was right. There was no us.
Regulus saw, firsthand, how your chest deflated, how your gaze lowered, and how you sighed. He was right, there was no us. It was only you, It was always just you.
“I’m going to bed.” You announced, turning around to hide the tears. Fights weren’t new, but what was new, was the raw twist in his stomach, at the sounds of your sobs on the other side of the main bedroom door. Regulus pressed his back against the wooden frame, listening to how you cried. It wasn’t the first time you cried after a fight, but why did this time make him feel something?
Was it regret? Guilt? Remorse? All of the above?
He slept in the guest room that night, and as he lay on the pillows, he realized he couldn't recall when was the last time he slept next to you.
Dreams weren’t nice either, they weren’t an escape from the cruel reality. Dreams, at least for you, were a constant reminder of how miserable your life was.
Dreams. Memories. Nightmares.
·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙
Laughs, evil laughs. Evil snaked dressed in green and silver surrounding you, mocking you. You rubbed your eyes, groaning at the sticky feeling of your fingertips over your face, your hair, your uniform. Someone spilt a glass of orange juice over your head, and no one did anything to stop them. No one cared, no one overlooked.
For the proud and ambitious house of Slytherin, you were just a poor joke. You were the insignificant excuse of a wizard, and definitely, you didn't belong with them. You were too nice, too soft, you were a gentle soul. Qualities that, the Slytherin house wasn’t quite fond of.
And they were sure to remind it every day of your school life.
Across the dining hall, students from other houses looked at you with pity, amusement and even curiosity. Were they expecting you to defend yourself? Probably. Were you going to? Probably not. Instead of giving them a piece of your mind, you just ran away. Once again, as you rubbed the orange juice off your eyes, now mixed with the salty tears of humiliation, they laughed, and their cruel barks echoed in your ears, your mind and your heart.
How did this fit in your story?
Outside, under the dark night sky, the stars were bright. Glowing carefree in the firmament. Your feet wandered around the edge of the astronomy tower, wondering how it would be to be a star. Maybe this just wasn’t your timeline. Maybe you weren’t born to succeed, to achieve great things. Everything just felt empty, flavourless, pointless. Since when did that bright smile change into a sorrowful grimace? When did everything go downhill? Questions, questions, so many questions and no answers. Shaky hands held tightly on the chilly rails of the tallest tower in Hogwarts, where the wind was colder and the stars were closer.
Have you ever dreamed of being reborn as a star? Many times. A wish, your last wish, as your feet started to move away, closer to the sky. Star light, star bright, wish you may, wish you might. Closing your eyes, ignoring the tears streaming down your cheeks, you let go of a hand, darting dangerously around the edge. Everything would be quick, painless, and that’s what you wished for the most, for the pain to just stop.
"Wait!" A voice, a masculine voice. A voice of a star, the brightest star. You opened your eyes violently, gasping at sudden vertigo in your stomach, your feet slipped, and realizing for a fraction what you were about to do. It was too late now, your hands were away from the rails, as your body sway almost gracefully, towards death.
His hand grasped yours, it hurt. Great, just what you needed, more pain. Regulus held firmly to your hand, as you sobbed. Carefully, he eased you back into the ground, your knees wobbling the second you landed on the stone floor. Hard sobs rocked your body, your heart pounding wildly inside your chest.
“Why?” You asked, between sobs. “Why did you stop me?”
“Why were you… going to—” Regulus started, breathing heavily, shocked by what he just witnessed.
“Because I knew no one would stop me.”
"I'm sorry for what happened in the Great Hall." He already said that, why did he insist upon it? "I should've said something, what they did to you was so unfair, even if…” Even if it what?
“Even if  I deserved it?” You suggested with half-lidded eyes.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.” Regulus kneeled next to you, keeping a prudent distance. “I didn’t mean it that way, sorry. I don’t know what to say. It was wrong, you don’t deserve to be treated like that.”
Pity. It was pity.
“Regulus.” Hugging your knees, you inhaled the sweet scent of orange juice lingering in your uniform. “Don’t pretend you overlook me. They have been pestering me for years, and you never seemed to care about it. If this is a joke, it ain’t a funny one.”
“It’s not a joke!” He protested. “I just… never actually cared, yeah. Until now.”
Until now.
“Until now?”
Days later, you found out, what ‘Until now’, finally meant. It meant a black, wax-sealed letter, a bad omen. Just a few words were enough to crumble the little piece of peace you had.
War. Fiancé. Marriage. Regulus Black.
You threw the letter to the fire, watching it twist and burn in the desertic common room, late at night with a blanket around your shoulders. You were too immersed in your own thoughts to notice his presence. Regulus called you, making you jolt in surprise. He saw the envelope next to the fire, and the ashed on the wood confirmed his suspicions.
“So, until now, uh?” You asked, with a harsh tone, harsher than intended, not bothering to look at him.
“I’m not happy either.” His voice was a brick, and you were sure he had an unpleased frown.
“There must be a way. I’m sure.” Standing up, the blanket rolled down your shoulders, pooling on the thick green rugs. “Fuck.” You cursed under your breath. “This can’t be happening.”
“It’s borderline ironic.” Something about Regulus’ tone didn’t sit quite right with you.
“Ironic? How so?”
“She's vivid by the idea of me marrying a pureblood, a Slytherin, she didn't even care that your Mother was married to a Potter. A blood traitor, just like my br— just like Sirius.” Of course, it all came to that. Of course, Regulus was just like his family, just an elitist, classist piece of shit. “Perhaps we can tell my Mother how much of a coward and weak you are." His words tensed you, were all the Blacks so venomous? "How you aren't a real Slytherin.”
That was the last drop, your thirteen reason. “Sure, and we can tell my Mother how much of a self-centred asshole you are. How you can't see beyond your fat nose and realize there are other people besides you." Your nostrils flared with rage, no tears, just rage.
Regulus’ face contorted into one of anger, outraged by your words.
“I regret walking on you that night.” He scoffed, looking at you as if you were nothing more than a speck of dirt in his expensive leather shoes. “I wish I could travel back in time and stop myself from not letting you fucking kill yourself, giving up like the coward you are. Absolutely pathetic.” His words were pure venom, living up to his house and its emblem.
You slapped him. His face distorted into one of surprise. "I wish I had died that night. So I don't have to watch your ugly fucking face daily."
That night, like many others, you cried yourself to sleep, casting a silencing spell around your bed, hiding from the world, letting the pain consume you, poisoning your soul. Days only got worse, your grades dropped, and soon the whole school knew you were engaged to none other than the Regulus Black. Students stared at you more than usual, whispered louder than usual, and you ever wondered if you became a zoo animal without noticing it. The little contact you had with other students was now unexistent, you spent the majority of the time alone, in the library, where books couldn’t hurt you.
The library became your safe space, a bubble to hide from the real world. Standing on your tiptoes to reach the highest shelve, your attention caught a familiar voice, a loud one, too loud to be allowed in the library.
"Moony c'mon, we'll be fine!" James, it was James.
"Stop insisting, Prongs." Remus answered, and he sounded annoyed. With silent steps you walked closer to them, leaning over a bookshelf, eavesdropping on their argument. "Last full moon was a disaster."
"You know who's fault that was." That one was Peter.
"Keep it down, please." Remus sighed. "You're lucky she knows how to heal a scratch like that. Because if Madame Pomfrey ever hears about this—"
"She won't!" James interrupted him. "She said that she'll be close so if we need her, she'll be there."
You heard Remus's breath hitching. "Are you out of your damn mind? I'm not going to let her near me when I'm a fucking werewolf, Prongs."
A werewolf.
"Calm down, Moony, we know is your time of the month." Sirius's teasing tone only had the opposite effect. "Ouch! Fine, fine, I'll stop. But don’t pinch me like that, it hurts.”
“Great, now shut up.” Remus groaned, annoyed.
It made perfect sense. Years ago, you heard Severus teasing him in one of the few classes you shared with them, calling him "Loony Lupin", a freak, pointing out his scars... Speaking of scars, he had a lot of them.
A couple of essays and works about werewolves had taught you only one thing: They were cruel creatures and extremely dangerous, but, Remus never, in a thousand years looked like a cruel person, he was the only one of James's close friends who had never actively participated in your stepbrother's antics to humiliate you and bother you, but he didn't do anything to stop him either, and you learned the hard way that doing nothing was also part of the problem.
“I still can’t believe you three spent three damn years, putting your lives at risk to become an animagus.” Remus scoffed, but then laughed. “You guys are insane.”
“Hey,” Sirius said. “Anything for our Moony.”
What the hell was happening? First werewolves and now animagus? It really, really, really made perfect sense. Padfoot, Moony, Prongs and Wormtail.
If James and his friends could transform themselves into an animagus, how hard could it be?
It was hard, extremely hard.
It could be considered delusional and psychotic, attempt it without previous preparations, and professional supervision. Being young and naive makes you do stupid things, just for the sake of being accepted and loved. Book after book, the migraine drilled deeply into your skull, it was borderline impossible. After two weeks of exasperating research, two broken quills and a roll of paper, you always ended up with the same conclusion: It was dangerous. Becoming an animagus without any type of help or supervision from the Ministry of Magic was basically a premeditated suicide.
Constantly asking yourself how could they manage to do it without getting caught, how were their methods, how were they still alive? After your third attempt that night, hiding in the Astronomy tower, your whole body ached, a bad move could ruin your life forever, becoming a half-human half-animal, or in the worst case, becoming a corpse. The books you had scattered around the cold floor were useless now, they only repeated the same words with different fonts, words that only vanished your enthusiasm. You didn’t have enough time, enough skills and enough confidence.
"Come on, come on." You whispered to yourself, closing your eyes, feeling the magic flowing through your veins, powerful, strong, earthly. It felt natural, it felt yours.
It was there, you could feel it. You were so, so close. Your whole body tingled, the sparkles in your soul the purpose of your efforts igniting the magic within you. Just a little bit more...
It was gone, and you groaned in pain. It vanished as quickly as it approached, four failed attempts were enough for that night. So, while throwing the useless books inside your backpack, you walked back to your dorm carefully to not be caught by Flitch or Mrs Norris.
·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ ✩ *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙
Full moon. It was time, it was your last chance.
It was risky, worst case scenario you could die, your corpse rotting the night. But, death wasn't a thing you were afraid of, at least not anymore. You planned every single step that night, you went through it the whole week. You avoided Regulus, you avoided James, you avoided everything and everyone. The hardest thing was to know when and how to follow them. You knew they were leaving the castle at any time soon, you were a smart girl after all. Logically, Remus couldn't transform near school, for the safety of other students and himself. Dungeons? No, inside the school it was impossible, very noticeable too, and too easy to guess. It must be out of the school grounds.
The first step was to successfully walk out of the school without being caught, and perhaps one (if not) of the most challenging (asides from the transformation itself), then all you had to do is wait. Wait for a signal, for voices, steps, anything. Hiding outside of the castle, next to the greenhouses, the night air was cold, really cold. Wrapping yourself in your jumper, you waited to hide next to a pile of dirt sacks, patiently.
Forty minutes or so later, when you started to doubt your plan, you heard them. Not them exactly, but you could recognize McGonagall's voice everywhere. Taking a quick peek, Madame Pomfrey was also there, and they were escorting Remus, who was silent between the two women. Taking a prudent distance, you followed them all the way to the Whimpering Willow, and you watched in awe how McGonagall with a flick of her wand paralyzed the tree, walking right into a hole next to the prominent roots, followed by Remus and Poppy. So, there was a secret passage. It made sense. But where did it lead them to? Hiding behind a big rock, you waited again. Until they returned, chatting in a low voice.
Until you were sure they were far gone, this was your only chance. Mimicking Minerva's movements, you hoped a simple paralyzing spell would do the trick, and to your surprise it did. Wasting no time, you slid under the tree, scratching your hand as you did so, wiping the little pearls of blood in your jumper. The dark pathway was lugubrious, and you weren't exactly sure where it would lead you, you reached the end, and a weak ray of the pale moonlight guided your steps until you were outside of the Shrieking Shack. This was an excellent location, away from Hogwarts and away from Hogsmeade, plus, the abandoned house had the reputation of being haunted, so, naturally, no one approached it. It was brilliant!
You heard voices, and this time it was them. Running to the nearest tree, you hid behind it, cold sweat running down your face. The unmistakable sound of Sirius' laugh filled your ears, and you watched how the entered the house. The moon was almost at its peak, almost ready to take its protagonism in the dark sky.
A deep, crucifying silence reigned over the terrain until you heard it. A howl, a deep, loud howl, mixed with pain and ache. It was your signal to go with the final step. Closing your eyes, you took a deep breath. Inhaling, exhaling. It was now or never.
There it was again, that sensation running through your veins, pumping magic through every cell of blood. Your skin felt warm, tingling, you felt every hair, every pore. Taking a deep, long breath, you closed your eyes. Wand in hand, you took another profound breath, placing your wand-tip against your heart, begging to the stars.
“Amato Animo Animato Animagus.”
Blazing pain and an intense shiver ran through your body. The bright moon witnessed everything, how your body contorted in agony, your heartbeat was loud, hard and fast, and then it stopped, for a brief instant. Then two. Double heartbeat. It was too late now. There was no going back. A dark cloud fogged your mind, and it happened, you saw it, inside your head, and it was beautiful, it was graceful, it was you. The fear that followed you through the transformation started to crumble your bravery, but surrendering only meant one thing:
Death.
Opening your eyes, everything was… different. The sounds were louder, the scents were stronger. The perspective was abysmal, what was big was now small, and raising your gaze, there it was, the full moon, golden and proud, smiling softly at you, or at least it seemed to.
Their scent was strong, mixed and together, they were a pack. You heard them from miles around, and the rational voice inside your mind kept you in line, it would be too abrupt to approach them firsthand. Sneaking silently around the abandoned building, you devoured your surroundings, every rock, every stick, every curve. The fresh imprint of paws guided you through the woods, closer and closer to the forbidden forest. Still keeping a safe distance, you joined their voices, still hesitant.
The big, grey wolf was the first one to approach you. Slowly at first, reluctant. Were you a friend or an enemy? The tension was high in the skies. He growled, cautious. It was him, it had to be him. He sniffed the air, your scent, and taking a seat, he maintained eye contact, narrowing his golden eyes.
You didn’t felt threatened at all. It was an innofensive interaction, you could smell his curiosity, if that was even possible, or even rational. The atmosphere relaxed for a bit, and the wolf laid down, resting his snot in his long paws. He accepted your presence, but it wasn’t an invitation either. You chirped happily, progress was progress.
Until, the rest of them emerged from the shadows. Larger than you, stronger, angrier. They didn’t liked you, at you could sense their discomfort and hazard. The large, black dog, barked at you, a simple warning: ‘Stay away’. You remained still, blinking slowly, showing them no harm was planned. At least not from your part. The stag was the biggest of them all, with enormous, extravagant horns, graceful swirls in a soft bone colour. The usual prey now looked and acted like a true predator, and the brownish stag was the first one to walk closer to you, looming over you. Stretching his neck, the animal attempted a showoff of dominance, to express how proud and unwelcoming he was.
Behind him, the black dog growled again at you, this time louder. A second warning: ‘Leave’. But you didn’t. You remained still, strong-willed.
A sudden high-pitched squeal caught your attention, and you observed how the wolf was stepping on the tail of a abnormal big rat, not in a dangerous way, more leaning into a playful manner. Unfortunately, letting your guard down for a brief second was a mistake. The black dog pounced, this was the third and final warning. He hovered over you, the drool dripping down his canines. Rolling over a couple times, you tried to fight back, but it was hard, this new form was still new, and your movements were clumsy and dull.
His sharp teeth were wrapped around your throat, hard enough to pierce the skin but not to be considered mortal. The primal instinct of survival ran through your veins, and using every ounce of strength you had in your animalistic personage, you pushed him off you. It wasn’t a fair fight though. The painful stab of the Stag’s horns against your sides caught you off guard once again.
Wheeling over the dirt, you hissed in pain, panting. The adrenaline was high and the anxiety too. Loud alarms inside your head screamed at you. Run, run, run. On all fours, you sprinted away, quickly being pursued by the two aggressive animals. The wolf’s howling broke the silence surrounding you, it was a long, melancholic howl. From the sounds of heavy steps behind you, you knew they were getting closer. They knew how to move, you didn’t. Your legs gave up, sore and pristine to this new anatomy. Those sharp, brutal teeth caught the flesh of one of your back legs, as you cried in distress.
«No, no, no, this can’t be the way I die.» The rational and human voice inside your head sobbed.
A flash of gray freed you from the dog’s grip. The two canines fought against each other, barking and howling at each other, as if its human sides were in a heated argument. You suddenly remembered, the stag was still there, and you wouldn’t comit the same mistake twice.
Duels for you, were never fair, less, if your adversary was your stepbrother, James.
The stag was stronger and bigger, but you were lighter and faster. Dodging every lunge and assault, the strong scents of their proximity clouded your common senses. This wasn’t correct, you never meant to hurt them, especially him. For a very strange reason, you still cared for him, even after all he had done.
Bright, warm rays of sunshine dazzled you, the sun was rising, which only meant one thing; The world stopped for a minute, and everyone ran back to the Shrieking Shack, where they were supposed to be in the first place, but this was far from over.
Running back to your first hiding spot, you closed your eyes again, resting your shivering form against an old tree trunk, accumulating all the last resilience you had to transform back. If someone had told you a month ago, you would’ve been hurriedly dressing back up, bleeding for a hundred superificial wounds, next to the Shrieking Shack, you would tell them they were out of their fucking mind. The sun was brushing the horizon, carefree, as the moon waved back, ready to leave and gossip with the stars. With trembling steps, you walked towards the haunted house, panting, one hand making pression on your stomach, where your most profound wound was.
Inside the old place, it reeked of dirt, old magic and a hint of cinnamon, and maybe citrus, and odd combination, to say the least. Their voices were loud whispers, and, turning around a corner, you found them.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” James shouted, however, this time you didn’t backed away, to hide and cry.
You were too tired to run away.
“You almost killed me!” You snapped back, surprising him with your offputting attitude.
“Stop,” Remus interjected, standing up from a broken, dusty bed, just to groan slightly in pain and sit back down. “Shit—. She knows, she knows too much.” His face was bloody, he was wrapped in a yellow blanket, his silver scars peeking through the fabric along with new ones, angry red and still bleeding.
“Fucking idiot.” James stepped closer, clutching your shoulder. “You ruin everything. You’re so selfish, you are so stupid.” He continued, unloading his anger on you, just like he always did. “Do you know the risk you made us take? Just because of your senseless actions!”
“James.” Remus called him again, this was going too far.
“Remus, he’s right.” Sirius spat, sharing the same venomous look his brother did, nights ago in the Slytherin’s common room. “She knows too much, and if she opens her big, fucking mouth, it would be the end of us.”
“She’s not going to, right?” James pressed, looking at you dead in the eye, you had never seen him this furious before. “She won’t if she knows what’s good. You’re just a self-centred bitch, you can’t stand people having friends right? Just because you’re a loner and no one fucking likes you—”
You slapped him, all across the cheek, knocking off his glasses and successfully shutting him up. Tears ran down your muddy cheeks, this was it, this was your limit.
“Me? Me?!” It was your turn to shout. “Since I met you, you've done nothing but make my life miserable!” Breathing heavily, chest rising with the unpleasant feeling of resentment and rancor. “I did everything! I tried everything for you to like me! I just wanted to be your fucking friend James. I just wanted to fucking be happy, for once!”
“So you became an animagus, in the ridiculous attempt to join us?” His tone was mocking, the tone every student used to address you. “Pathetic. I would never like you, you’re just a lying snake. You don’t care about us, or my father, your mother is just marrying him for Godric knows what. You would never be part of my family.”
“I fucking hate you!” You stomped your shoe at the creaking wood flooring. “I fucking hate you James, you’re just an arrogant piece of shit! You think everyone likes you, you think you’re the greatest, but no. You are just a pretentious, smug fucking loser. You’re the one who doesn’t belong to Gryffindor, you’re a bigger snake than I would ever be!”
James pushed you, face red with rage. You collapsed to the ground, groaning in pain, from head to toe your body was sore, every inch of skin screamed in agony.
“Take it back.” He demanded, forcing you to look at him. “You think you hate me? Then I hate you ten fucking times more.” He spat. No one uttered a word. “I wish you were dead, I wish my father had never married your golddigger mother. You don’t deserve my last name, my house, anything!”
“Fuck off!” You replied, kicking him, crawlinging backwards, attempting to move away from him. “Get away from me!” His hand yanked your hair, making you sob.
“You’re fucking dead to me. I would never, ever see you as an equal. You’re nothing, you’re useless. Everything everyone says in school is true. You’re nothing more than a pathetic mistake, and you dare to call me a loser? At least I have friends.” He let go, turning around to pick up his glasses. “Everyone is right; You are just a hindrance. You don’t belong anywhere.
“One day.” You promised. “One day you will fucking regret those words.”
James laughed, Sirius laughed, Peter was to stunned to speak, and Remus was too tired to even think properly, besides, this wasn’t his battle. Nor of Sirius, or Peter.
In the end, it was always, only you.

other endless things i have emotions about: delirium is the only one of the seven with a nickname
sure, dream has 500 different names, he collects them, but his siblings all still call him dream
but death destruction and desire all use del
which. yeah, okay, makes sense, it's a contraction of her name and she's the youngest
but it's not just a contraction of delirium
because they called her del before, too, when she was delight
and i find it fascinating what that says about the three of them, and their relationship to their sister
like. okay. desire can be a bit of a bully about it, bc as ever desire and dream are so similar and they have a tendency to lash out when shit's bothering them
Tumblr media
and i think what happened to delirium genuinely does bother desire. they're described in doll's house as a creature of the moment, and this stands out as the only time desire is fixated on the past
desire doesn't like to think about things that make them uncomfortable, they prefer to move on immediately and torch the past, get rid of any negative emotions so they don't have to sit with them. and i look at these moments, and i think desire both misses their little sister, who she used to be, and they're scared whatever happened to delirium will happen to them next
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so it comes out in tense words and jabs and then being surprised when that comes across as hurtful, bc desire isn't really seeing delirium, they're still stuck on why are you different, what broke you permanently, where is my sister, and can that happen to any of us?
destruction is the other one who uses it all the time
and destruction stands out in delirium's mind as someone who was always kind to her, her siblings can be so nasty when they choose to, but not him

and both delirium and destruction know that the way to survive being one of the endless is to embrace your opposite just as much as your aspect, because the endless aren't greater or more expansive than mortals, not in what really matters. the endless are the lesser, they're all inherently missing a piece of what makes people human, and they have to somehow find room for that piece within themselves
when destruction uses it, it's not blaming delirium for her past, like desire is. it's acknowledging that she is still very much both. everything that delight was is still within her, but she has expanded beyond that, she has grown and she's learned and she's one of the most resilient of them because of it. he's not scared of her, he's proud of her
and then there's death. and we never actually see death and delirium talk directly, they keep coming close to it but missing each other. the only reason we know it's death saying this line is because she's the only one with normal speech bubbles
Tumblr media
and delirium is a little scared of death like she's scared of most of her older siblings, but she also feels the most at home with her - she's relieved, when she thinks she's found death in the club, because this is someone who knows delirium and knows what's going on and will make it all okay again
Tumblr media
and from the little we get, death definitely treats delirium more like a child than the others, but not in a bad way
it's mentioned in season of mists that delirium hates when her siblings infantilise her, because she's older than most planets and they'll only ever see her as the baby, but i think in this circumstance, she's okay with it. it's a comfort. so when death uses del, it's the parentified eldest sister talking to the much younger baby sister and saying everything will be okay, i'm here to handle it
and i think sometimes delirium needs that

OH MAN. THIS ONE'S A DOOZY!!!! I should mention that I didn't proof read this so I'm sorry for any errors oops
1. Ædith being a middle child but also responsible
Yeah I accidentally ended up writing her a bit like myself because I'm a middle child (second youngest of six but because my dad's a misogynist then I was treated like a fairly standard middle child) but stepped up and started doing house management because of how incompetent my two siblings that still live at home are. You know how it is. I think.
2. Gail's education
Ok so Gail's parents weren't that bothered by Gail's physical differences so they just kinda assumed she just had a deformity and rolled with it. She went to a public school at first but fell behind a lot (as is a common symptom of down syndrome) but her parents assumed it was cause of the bullying because she looks different. They took her out of school and had her tutored after 2 years (so by now, she's about 9) and she started doing a bit better. When she got older and kept falling behind and struggling (around 13-14 now) then her parents considered ending her education but the tutors liked her and insisted that they wanted to try a bit more to figure out what kind of reaching methods work best for her.
Gail's parents weren't too fond of the alternative solution, but just said fine and gave them the greenlight anyway cause it's also around now that Volkaire said he doesn't want Gail as head of house Crawford.
Because Gail no longer has to live up to the role of head of the house, and all her parents expect of her now is to just do something, then there's no rush for her to learn everything before a certain age and she can take all the time she needs. The tutors spend a while trying out different teaching styles until they find something that sticks and then she starts doing well.
After her standard education (middle school, age 8 to 18 (she took a bit longer to finish though, and finished at 19)) then she wanted to go onto college. She'd attend classes and then afterwards the tutors would help her to make sure she understood it. They helped her quite a bit for the history degree but by the time she's onto the political sciences one then she's doing fairly well and doesn't need anywhere near as much help as before.
So Gail was able to get an education cause:
A. Even though her parents are ableist towards her, they still loved her and were willing to pay a bit of extra money if it meant their daughter could at least read. They kept paying for the tutors for her college education because by that point, they did believe in her abilities to learn but they still baby her. She's in her early 40s by the time the story takes place and her father (only living parent) still treats her like a child. In childhood, her parents were also abusive towards her and they're also incredibly stubborn assholes who can't apologize for anything so they damage done to their relationship was never repaired.
B. Gail got really lucky with her tutors and ended up with some incredibly sweet people who just love helping people. In a world with better support systems for disabled people, Gail's tutors probably all would've been incredibly happy as special needs teachers.
C. She was able to go at her own pace because she wasn't expected to become head of the house.
Also forgot to mention this but her college professors definitely are ableist but not to the same degree as Volkaire and they weren't thaaat ableist towards Gail cause they saw her grades and essays and wanted to give her a chance. Also cause yeah she's disabled but she's also the daughter of an aristocrat, they all were a little scared of any potential consequences of being ableist towards a kid of someone with that much power.
3. Zoltan
He was originally just made as a temporary playable character so that the player would have a lot of options of weapons and magic types to use in the first half of the game before getting other characters, his backstory came second.
"hey what if this guy had a connection to a pre existing character? Hmm... Who could use a sibling?" and I narrowed it down to three options (Ædith, Sigmund or Lewis, if you're curious) and went with Ædith cause then she'd have an accomplice to help break her out of prison.
The whole thing with him being a whore like Messar and Sylvain was a little treat for me because I love those types of characters.
Ædith sibling lore because you care. I know you do :]
Ædith's older sister is called Gail and her younger brother is Zoltan, so she's the middle child.
They're born into a noble house, hence Ædith's high government position. As the oldest, Gail was supposed to inherit the position from her mother, but Ædith got it instead. Volkaire vetoed Gail becoming head of the house because she has down syndrome so he thinks she's incompetent. The unfair treatment towards her sister is also what motivated Ædith to get into disability activism in the first place.
All three kids have a bad relationship with their parents because of the ableism towards Gail. Gail worked incredibly hard and got two degrees, one in history and another in political sciences so she is more than qualified for the position. She also has a husband and a son, but I haven't named either just yet. Overall, Gail is very successful and doing well in life.
Ædith is head of the house but uses it almost exclusively to fight for the rights of minorities, starting several charities and doing volunteer work that others think is below her station.
Zoltan left home and restarted his life as a commoner. He was fairly careless until Ædith's arrest, when he's forced to go home to help Gail. Really he just tells ableists to screw off so she can do her thing. He also helps break Ædith out of prison and starts getting his act together to help his sisters fight Volkaire's tyranny because he hates aristocracy and being around rich assholes, but he really really loves his sisters and would do just about anything for them
Alright, lore letter #1! Turns out, my response is kinda long! It's a Three-parter.
Ædith's characterization due to her life experience
A minor question re: Gail's sterling achievement despite her Down Syndrome in a highly ableist country with unsupportive parents
Zoltan
----
I was about to comment on how rare it is that Ædith, a middle child, displays traits that are usually seen in eldest siblings. Ædith is dutiful, expresses a sort of compulsion to shoulder a lot of responsibilities, and displays heightened sensitivity to other people's well-being or needs—skills an excellent (or way-too-self-sacrificing?) eldest sibling possesses, but not something a middle child is, well, known to develop early on.
And then it turns out it's because, since young, Ædith has to be the caretaker for Gail and the de-facto "eldest child of the house", assuming her duties and responsibilities due to Gail's struggle—genuine or societal fabrications alike—with Down Syndrome. I imagine Zoltan as a maverick and a rebel since he was a kid, so he had to be a bit of a headache source to Ædith, too.
Amazing instance of experience-informing-personality, π! I LOVE a good cause-and-effect work!
---
It's neat that Gail manages to persevere despite the limitations imposed on her societally. But I think this means you'll have to answer a detail-oriented question:
Is Gail homeschooled? Or was she sent to a private school? Or did she study in a public school, or did she complete her studies in a foreign nation?
The reason I asked is because Gail's obstructions in education are twofold, as far as I can tell: her parents' attitude toward her, and her country's national attitude toward people with disabilities. I'll address the second first!
A country that is so wantonly ableist as per the Emperor's attitude will not provide accessibility options, special needs, or even any useful concerns to their (aristocrats-only) public school.
For example, there were no real facilities or policies toward children with any kind of neurodiversity or mental/developmental disorders in my Malaysian education experience growing up. One of my classmates, when I was 7, had an unknown but severe developmental disorder due to encephalitis when he was just a wee baby (Child Lyn was nosy curious enough to poke around for information regarding "this strange kid in class.") The boy had no real structural support nor dedicated teachers/assistance. His parents sent him to school because they both had to work, and he was constantly treated like he did not exist in class by most students and some teachers (not maliciously; they were just not trained to teach him, ya know?). He did not take exams, and he hardly learned how to write his name by the end of the grade. His conditions did not improve even after we changed classes (it's a typical system to get reshuffled into a new class in each grade, usually according to your school grades), and I think he was later transferred out of my school.
I don't know if he managed to enroll in a special needs school, which definitely exists in Malaysia. But that's the follow-up question for this, too:
Do schools for children with special needs exist in an openly ableist country like Odeda?
Drawing comparisons to the easiest example of an ableist fascist country in history—Nazi Germany—there were no policies, encouragement, or support for any special needs schools. Why would the state allow such an institution, after all? They were seen as a waste of time, land, money, and resources. A useless waste, for the "defects" of the species, who will "damage" the country's Darwinian approach to "perfection."
So what this follow-up question is really here for is this: how extreme is ableism in Odeda? Brandi worries about herself due to her own mental illness, and in your previous version, her OCD was actually made a hindrance by Odedan policies in her quest for love or marrying Lewis. On a scale of "how easily can someone mask to fit in a neurotypical majority," I think OCD is more easily masked than Down Syndrome, which has a much more pronounced effect on one's education. So if Brandi herself could easily be marked as "lesser" under Odedan's ableist outlook, then Gail's Down Syndrome will provoke worse, right?
If Gail was educated either in a public school or a special needs school within Odeda, then you'll have to explain how she managed to do so when society was rigged against her. Without top-down (i.e. government) inclusivity, sensitivity, and resources, it's very hard to imagine a causal pathway where a child with Down Syndrome manages to succeed under such a climate. And that's not counting the peer pressure, bullying, microaggression, and other possible systemic discrimination Gail would have to face growing up.
Her parents' ableist/non-supportive attitude toward Gail will also make it a little harder to explain why she is allowed to be homeschooled or sent to a foreign land for education.
The second set of options is to have Gail be educated the same way Maurice was: privately. Or else, she was educated in another country that is far more inclusive or egalitarian or something.
However, it's hard to imagine ableist parents actually giving any care or damn about Gail enough to worry about her education, let alone spend money on it. Even if Ædith was the one who insisted that Gail should receive education as any other child deserves, there is only so much she as the kid could do against her own parents. who are the actual masters of the household, until Ædith was at least "old enough" to have her own way of pooling in finances.
Suggestions!
Nonetheless, it is still feasible to write Gail as succeeding despite her twofold blocks! I was trying to come up with some as I elaborated on the questions. Here are some; you can remix them for even better ideas, or they can help you come up with something far superior!
Ædith and Zoltan secretly give Gail some of her earliest education, such as basic literacy. ~ Additional benefit: this scenario provides a causal reason why Zoltan, despite his rough attitude, loves and cares for his sisters deeply—he once had to teach his oldest sister and assist his middle sister with limited support from their parents. This could also be the sentiments Zoltan draws from when he decides to break Ædith out of prison and assume Gail's primary caretaker role. ~ Meanwhile, an experience like this can further bolster Ædith's commitment to disability activism. It can also become a support conversation: Ædith explaining her initial difficulty and frustration in teaching Gail. Without training and knowledge, it's incredibly challenging to teach anyone with mental disabilities. I, uh, speak from experience. ~ To Gail, this experience is a source of strength, because she will always remember that her siblings love her regardless of what the world thinks and that there are people who do not look down on her just because she's "defective." This can translate to her own drive to succeed and seek her own happiness.
A sympathetic governess or private tutor. Such a person could originally be assigned to be Ædith and Zoltan's teacher, but they decided to secretly teach Gail as well. ~ Even if the parents found out, the governess or tutor could argue that they would not ask for extra compensation for Gail's lessons. ~ The governess/tutor could even argue that by teaching Gail, they can help her mask herself better so as to "not bring shame to your esteemed family" or "draw Volkaire's ire for siring such a child." Pragmatic arguments by the tutor for a far more compassionate goal, basically.
A sympathetic relative living outside Odeda takes in Gail out of sympathy or kindness. This way, Gail can get any sort of education over a long period in a foreign land that is less ableist than Odeda.
That's all I could come up with for now. I hope it gets your juice flowing!
---
Not much to say about Zoltan for now, since he's pretty much a rogue version of Ædith in a way. I like his addition nonetheless! Think he can provide a lil' foil to Ædith this way, ahahahah!
----
And this is why I can only answer this type of letter slowly and little by little! Look at the RAMBLE holy shit. YAP SPELL S+ I SWEAR. Please be patient with my slow ass, ahahhaha!
I have to go back to work after this amazing brain stimulation (your story is better than my work SO MANYFOLD)! Thanks for the crumbs; 'tis was delectable!
Will proceed to other letters (THE HABAD ONE I FOUND IT) in due time! That includes your intriguing new project too, ahahahahah!

WOW FAIRY TAIL. seeing them brought back sooooo many memories of middle school me hgehasf ANYWAY what do you think about the Strauss siblings??
Tumblr media
The most siblings of all time my god!!!! I love them so much can do no wrong my three baby children!!
Tumblr media
I try not to be too biased but my god. Elfman is everything one could ever want in a character. He sets the standard for Fairy Tail guys. He's big. He's Dumb. He's full of love. The perfect himbo of a guy.
Baby Elfman specifically is my everything he is just a Littol Guy I am pinching his cheeks and pulling them till he cries he's so cute in him little bow tie baby smile absolute perfect child hold him gently and brush his hair.
Elfman to me is Bi with a preference to men. There's a filler episode where Juvia is asking everyone what they want most as a gift no matter what and I know his whole bit is Manly but the fact that his answer with minimal hesitation is "A man" is so not Straight. But also his entire thing with Evergreen actually matters to me so much you do not understand.
Headcanon that Elfman is positively terrified of his own strength, he doesn't like being big and buff as much as he acts like he does. He likes feeling like he could protect people, sure, but in his mind he's just as likely to hurt them as well. When he gets older and his life calms down as the need to take jobs to pay rent lessens I think he'd eventually stop working out and fall comfortably into a pudgier shape, more like he was when he was little. Dad bod Elfman. Bear Elfman. Consider it.
Tumblr media
Mirajane is probably, objectively, the best character in this show, Hands down. She's the only female character treated with any respect in a fight, she is smart, she is sweet, she is cute, she can kick your ass, she's very easily the second strongest wizard in the guild tailing Gildarts by only the littlest bit. She's held back by the trauma of loosing half her family not once but twice, she healed, and still chooses not to fight as she just lost the taste for it.
She's one of few characters who uses her head, she thinks, she holds the guild braincell and my god has she had to bear it for so long. The wiki says she's 19 and I fucking disagree. This is THE woman of all time. She uses her power as The Only One Who Thinks to mess with people and my god she's so fucking funny I'm sorry but this woman's gags are hysterical and when everyone else is getting into bullshit and she just plays into it and encourages them I genuinely laugh every time.
To me she has a lot of Aro vibes, happy with friends and family. If she were to get into a romantic relationship I think it'd be with another woman, I just can't see her with a guy?? She was born to live the Aunt life though, so when Elfman finally settles down and adopts the dad bod she is going to be all over his kids all the time.
Tumblr media
Lisanna I have a bit of a harder time with. I wasn't really expecting to ever really know her, ya know? She was dead, it was a big deal, a big stain in the backstory of everyone in the Guild at the time. I thought she'd be someone who's death rung across the rest of the narrative, not a sort of love interest to get between Natsu and Lucy (which she doesn't really do either?)
She doesn't have a lot of plot relevance. Where I am right now she has yet to take a fight on her own, and as far as I can remember all the fights she has been in she's lost. Everyone counts her out really fast, keeps her out of harms way, kinda... treats her like a baby. And then outside of fights she doesn't do much either? I have a hard time finding her in character shots around the guild or placing her in any casual situations. So not only is she no longer the trauma the Guild bears, she's also still not really present despite being alive.
I like her, trust me! I think she's cute, the way Laxus reacted to her on Tenro island is positively adorable and makes me laugh every time, I like Elfman having another sister to bully him around in my stead, I'm glad Mira had the chance to heal she always needed and the sister she loved back.
I just think, personally, she was better as a point in history the characters grieved than as a character rarely used.
Also she's Straight and Transgender I make the rules this is my house.

“The heart wants what the heart wants, Y/N. And I will go to any lengths to make you mine. No matter the cost.” His voice was soft as he kept quiet. It was yet another night if Harry sneaking into her room with her brother throwing a party downstairs.
Sneaking around was becoming common to them. Y/N thought Harry would forget when he woke up after the first into all time. He didn’t. Far from that, actually. He became more and more persistent with her.
“I know, H. I want you too. And by the way… you start to talk all old timey when you’re drunk.” She smiled softly, brushing the messy waves out of his face as he laid on her cool pillow. Her door was locked and while the sound of music outside and downstairs was very prevalent, they were in their own little world in her bed.
His hand rested on her hip, playing with the waistband of her sleep shorts innocently as they spoke, just a little desperate to have his skin touching her skin. Y/N allowed it simply because she wanted it too.
“Mm. Not drunk, only a little tipsy. And I know. I jus…. Y/N? I really like you. And I have for a bit and I hate that we have to be nervous to be together because your brother is gonna flip a shit.” He said quietly. “I’m willing to take the punches I know are gonna be given. But-“ he was cut off by Y/N huffing, frown on her pretty face.
“But you shouldn’t have to, H. You shouldn’t have to be punched because his ego can’t handle it. You’re a good guy. You don’t fuck around… you’re a good choice for me. If anyone, you’d be my perfect fit.. an he’s gonna be mad because you’ll give me more attention and he has that stupid off limit rule.” Her eyes went sad and he panicked, pulling her in to cuddle. Strong arms wrapping around her and tucking her face into his neck, softly shushing her to keep her from getting upset.
“Sorry. M’sorry, I know. It’s okay.” He whispered sadly, pressing multiple kisses to the side of her head. He was wrapped up in her scent and touch and beauty and he felt so incredibly soft and adored. Y/N did a good job at that. They protected each other from the lighthearted bullying from her brothers friends and him because they tended to be softer than the others.
Harry was charming but quiet and he had harbored a crush on Y/N for quite a bit. He didn’t go out of her way to be around her a lot because he didn’t want to break the whole ‘code’ the boys had for dating siblings but at this point he couldn’t stop himself. And he wouldn’t be able to blame himself being drunk for it any longer.
“I’m gonna take y’out to the drive in movies. And then to a dinner. Maybe a picnic one day. I want t’be with you, Y/N. I know I’ve said it but I’m so tired of sneaking around and at this point I don’t think I can. M’just gonna have to man up and say it. I understand… slightly. Where he’s coming from. You’re his baby sister. But he will see that I’m not fucking around.” Harry would do what he needed to to prove his intentions for her.
“But at the end of the day? I don’t really care if he doesn’t approve. Because you treat me nicer, you’ve got softer skin. You smell better, you bake nice brownies, you’ve got a better bum and I want to kiss you. Don’t want any of that from anyone else.”
He shivered when he felt a soft peck on the crook of his neck, followed by another as she squeezed her arms around him. Y/N appreciated that.
For so long she had never felt like a first choice. Never felt like she was worth a fight. No one did. People backed down from asking her our for this very reason. But Harry was the first one, the only one willing to do so. What he just said meant the whole world to her.
“And this is why I want you.” She pulled back from his neck, leaning her head on him with loving eyes. She adored him. “You choose me. You stand up for me. You’ve never made me feel like an outsider and you’re so kind and sweet that it genuinely confused me at first. I thought it was an act. Y’know? To get into pants or to win over people. But you’re not an ass. It’s really you, and you want me. You can’t even begin to understand how much that means to me.”
Her body shifted to lay on top of his, wanting more of the contact. Their cuddling had been normal for a bit now so she decided he deserved to get the full boyfriend treatment, including the being a pillow.
“Y’want to be my boyfriend Harry?” She began to trace invisible patters on his shirt, smiling to herself when his arm locked around her waist.
“Yeah. I do.”
“You want to be the only one who gets to hold me…. To call me yours? To pick me up, to get my hands and my body and mouth?” She stroked her fingers in between the buttons of his shirt to touch the bare skin. “Because I want that. I want to give it to you. Hear your every thought and hope and dream, your desires. With me, with life.” Her fingers nimbly undid the buttons, pressing a tender kiss over the hot skin.
“Let me. Let me be yours.”
