kiss — shauna shipman
Friends. That’s what you and Shauna promised each other in Ms. Thompson’s math class, second week of freshman year. You were one of the first friends she’d ever truly made in high school that wasn’t through Jackie.
Although Jackie was her best friend, you were different. Much different.
She didn’t know it until you both ended up ditching the team after a tournament to get ice cream. She was hit with the realization that she wants to hold your hand for the rest of your lives, and with this, her entire world practically came crashing down. Her love had grown so strong—she couldn’t pinpoint when it started.
She’d been holding it in for a long time since then.
The air is buzzing the night of the party. It’s a celebration for the team, a way to let loose before nationals, but everybody is on edge because of the injury that Allie sustained. But you’re still a whirlwind of energy amongst all the stress, even if you’re not drunk like the others. You manage to put a smile on everyone’s face despite it all, one of the things that made her fall in love with you.
Shauna toys with the material of her dress. The one she wore just for you, the one that Jackie asked: “who are you wearing that for?” To which she stayed silent, a whisper of your name in her mind but unable to say it aloud in fear that if she does, it will all go wrong.
Yet, she’s warmed by the jacket you’d given at the beginning of the night, and she can’t help but fantasize a future where she’s allowed to love you.
The alcohol makes its way through her system as the sky gets darker and the party gets wilder.
She doesn’t know you’ve been watching her from afar since it started. Why are you avoiding me? You stop yourself from asking that, in fear that she’ll say it’s because she noticed the way you watch her with eyes that one of your friends described as lovesick.
You crush the red solo cup in your hand, throwing it in a bin before finally getting the courage to pull Shauna away from Jackie and some boys, a stone of jealousy forming at the pit of your stomach.
Shauna feels a familiar tug on her sleeve. It’s always the way you get her attention, and she has memorized the force of your pull—light as a feather, but she gravitates toward you like a moon in orbit—attached but at a distance.
Your grins mirror each other as you hover on the outskirts of the party, her leaning against a tree and you standing inches away, facing her. The warmth between you isn’t lost on her, actually, it’s all she can think about.
“Are you drunk?” She whispers with a playfulness you’ve always adored.
“No,” you shake your head, and you end up giggling.
You stumble a little bit, trying to steady yourself. She holds out an arm to hold your waist and you hope to god she keeps it there forever.
“Sure, sure.”
“You know I don’t drink, Shipman.” And you respond to her touch by putting a hand on her shoulder, and you feel her lean into your touch. “Are you drunk?” You whisper ever so gently.
Her senses are overwhelmed by you and you alone. The way you warm beneath her hand, the scent of your shampoo, your figure leaning slightly into her.
And she does the one thing that she’s held back for as long as she can remember.
A kiss.
One that you reciprocate out of instinct, hand moving to her neck, sweeping her hair out of the way.
She almost smiles until you pull back abruptly, the soft kiss still lingering on her lips as she tries to chase yours but you hold her back.
“Wait, Shauna—“ Your brows furrow, and she realizes that she just made a mistake. “Wait.” You can feel her itching to leave, but you’re stubborn and you won’t let her go. (Her world is crashing a second time as you speak.)
She notices your shallow breathing before you begin again.
“You’re—“ you seem dazed, shocked. “You’re drunk. Aren’t you?”
Your face is inches away from hers and you want to go back but it would feel wrong knowing her inebriated state.
“I had one beer. You?”
“Me too.”
“Then why couldn’t you stand?”
You come closer, stopping only an inch away and she can feel your breath on her lips again.
“Would it be too cheesy if I said that’s what you just do to me?” You laugh lightly.
She can’t help but grin wide. “Yes,” She puts both arms around your waist, hugging you closer. She doesn’t care who sees. “But you do that to me, too. I’m just better at hiding it.”
It’s you who kisses her this time.
You both decide to keep the relationship a secret, at least for a little while. The plane is noisy with the team unable to sit still because of excitement, but Shauna is fidgeting in the seat next to you and you know why.
“Hey,” you say, grabbing her hand and intertwining yours with it. “We’ll be okay, alright?”
She nods, gulping. She’s too distracted to see you looking around to see if anyone’s watching, and you catch her off guard with a peck on her lips.
Her eyes widen, “Somebody could have seen that!” She whispers, but her eyes crinkle as she flashes you a juvenile grin.
Her world crashes a third time, hours later when the plane does. But at least you’re there to hold her hand.

coach’s sister !
shauna shipman and coach ben’s little sister falling in love ҂ fluff; brief making out sesh, both are eighteen years old; this was supposed to be hcs but i got a bit too inspired lmaoo, also imagine the arm is shauna’s. . .﹙2.7k wc﹚
shauna and you met one day when your parents couldn't pick you up from school as per usual. you didn't want to take the bus, so your last resort was waiting until your brother was free after practice to drive you home. it didn't bother you though, because you used the time to work on some of your assignments.
you thought soccer practice was over at 6:00 pm, so you packed your stuff and headed to the field to look for your brother. it wasn't until you got there and saw everyone mid-game that you remembered practice was actually over at 6:30 pm. since you were already there, you decided to go sit at the benches and wait.
as you entered the bench area, you realized you weren't alone. shauna shipman was also there, holding an ice pack against her visibly swollen ankle.
you had never spoken to her before, but you knew well who she was, just as she knew who you were. you had noticed shauna during soccer matches that your brother forced you to watch; she was number six. you weren't sure what it was about her, but she always caught your eye. it might have been her great footwork, incredible speed, big brown eyes, or adorable smile, but you couldn't tear your eyes away from her whenever she was running across the field.
and well, pretty much everyone on the soccer team knew who you were, as coach ben had a picture with you in his office, and they sometimes saw you leaving with him after games or practice. mari would joke about coach ben liking girls ten years younger than him until misty, who somehow knows everything, mentioned that you're his younger sister.
"hey," she said, interrupting your thoughts. "you're coach ben's sister, aren't you? y/n," she asked, curiosity in her gaze. you never imagined her voice would be so raspy—you found it very attractive.
"that's me," you assured with a smile. "just waiting for him to give me a ride home," you explained, and she nodded in understanding. "what happened to your ankle?" you asked, eyebrows furrowed.
and that's all it took for the two of you to dive into an endless conversation. you chatted away for what felt like an eternity, though it was only 30 minutes. you discovered you had more in common than you had ever imagined. so much so that she ended up asking for your phone number—of course, without coach ben noticing. she definitely didn't want to get her ass beaten during the next practice.
not even 10 minutes had passed since you left when she already texted you, and the two of you texted all night.
a week of non-stop texting and exchanging greetings between classes went by until you both agreed to meet again. initially, these were just regular hangouts, like watching movies at her place or going out to eat. but then, she started offering you a ride home every day, but only if you were willing to wait for her until practice ended. of course, you did—how could you not? you had the biggest crush on her.
and strangely enough, your academic performance improved, as you would spend two hours every day waiting for her at the library, working on your homework. afterwards, she would drive you home, always ensuring to park a few houses away so that your brother wouldn’t spot you coming out of her car.
one day, much like any other, shauna drove you home. she parked two houses down the street, and the two of you were engaged in a random conversation.
“shit, ben's texting me, i’ve gotta go before he gets suspicious,” you said hurriedly.
i mean, obviously, he was already suspicious—neither your parents nor he was driving you home from school, and he knew you hated taking the bus. you had attempted to use the "doing homework" excuse, but it didn’t cut it. he had a hunch that you were hiding something.
you locked your phone and began gathering your belongings, which were placed between your feet. just as you opened the car door and started to step out, shauna swiftly grabbed your arm, pulling you back inside. she cupped your chin with her other hand, drawing your lips together in a sudden kiss.
"shit—sorry, i don't know what came over me," she said, breaking the kiss abruptly and avoiding eye contact. instead of responding, you pulled her into another passionate kiss. as your lips grasped her lower lip, her tongue slipped inside your mouth, while her hand slid to your waist, gripping it tightly. you were so lost in the moment that you didn't notice the car's lights had turned on due to the door being left ajar.
as luck would have it, your brother suddenly emerged for his jog and started sprinting in your direction. it didn't take him long to spot shauna's car, and the well-lit interior made it easy for him to get a clear view. a clear view of the two of you devouring each other's mouths.
“y/n?” your brother's voice penetrated your ears, causing your heart to plummet into your chest. you swiftly separated from shauna and turned around, only to find your brother standing with his hand on the car door, opening it wide.
you couldn't discern whether he was angry or not; his expression remained deadpan and serious. you and shauna were left speechless, simply staring back at him. you both felt incredibly embarrassed, not only because ben caught you making out but also because he could see your swollen lips and shauna’s dishevelled hair.
"get out of the car," he ordered, shifting slightly to make room for you to step out. as you complied and stood beside him, he leaned down and said to shauna, "we'll talk about this tomorrow before practice. get there early." then he closed the door and started walking toward your house. you gave a nervous but gentle smile to shauna through the window before following your brother.
as you heard shauna's car starting and leaving, you silently followed your brother all the way into your house and into the living room. dropping your belongings onto the floor next to the couch, you took a seat. ben stood right in front of you, hands on his waist, facing the other way.
"so, this is why you've been coming home late every day," he began, turning around to face you. "why didn't you tell me?" he asked with a frown.
"there was nothing to say," you replied. "we're just friends, i guess," you said, sounding a bit confused. you and shauna weren't "just friends," and you knew it damn well. even though you had never discussed it directly, you spent almost every day together, and it was pretty obvious that the two of you were in love by the way you treated and talked to each other. all those lingering doubts and insecurities you had about it were dispelled by the kiss you had shared a few minutes ago.
"just friends? really?" he said incredulously, alluding to the fact that he had clearly seen both of you making out.
"yeah... sorry you had to see that," you said with an awkward chuckle while rubbing the back of your neck, referring to the kiss. "but i'm being honest with you. shauna and i are just friends. we met one day when i was waiting for you at the benches, and we hit it off right away. we started hanging out very frequently, and, well... now we're here," you explained, your tone becoming a bit shyer toward the end.
he sighed and relaxed his arms, letting them fall to his sides as he pursed his lips. then, he walked toward you and sat right next to you.
"you really like her, don't you?" he asked, turning to look at you.
you covered your face with your hands in embarrassment as you rested your elbows on your knees. "mhm," you mumbled as you nodded in agreement, not wanting to meet his gaze. the memory of your kiss with shauna kept replaying in your head, and the last thing you wanted right now was a pep talk from your older brother.
“look at me,” he said but you ignored him. "y/n," he repeated in a more stern tone, so you complied. "i'm not mad at you, okay?" he began, placing his hand on your knee for reassurance and softening his voice. "i wish you had told me about it, but i also understand why you didn't," he said. "i just want you to be happy, you know that, right? i mean... i'd prefer you were happy with someone who wasn't on my soccer team," he chuckled. "but shauna's a good girl. a bit grumpy at times," he quipped, earning a laugh from you. "but i know she's a good student and a nice person too, so i know you're in good hands," he said.
"yeah, she's amazing," you began. "did i tell you i got a B+ on my last biology test?" you said excitedly. "she helped me study for it," you added, a smile lingering on your face as you recalled shauna's adorable focused expression while working on a cheat sheet for you to review.
ben couldn't help but smile too, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and pulling you closer while gently rubbing your arm. "i'm glad she's making you happy and helping you excel in school," he said genuinely. "and i hate to be that person, but if she ever hurts you, she'll go through hell at practice. i'll have a one-vs-all scrimmage session ready for her just in case," he said, sounding protective.
"you better not," you shot back, moving away slightly to look at him through narrowed eyes. "if anything, i want to see you giving her special treatment."
"hah," he chuckled. "yeah, yeah... that won't happen," he said before standing up from the couch. "that reminds me, i need to talk to her before practice tomorrow," he said, his expression turning serious as he tried to intimidate you.
"you'll go easy on her, right?" you asked. you weren't overly worried since you knew your brother wasn't mean, but you couldn't help feeling a bit nervous for shauna, especially since she didn't know him as well as you did, and he was just her coach, after all. she must be really nervous right now.
"we'll see," he said, walking out of the house to resume his jog before you could muster a reply.
you sat impatiently in the library, your leg shaking as you waited for the clock to strike 6:30 pm in the afternoon. you hadn't spoken much with shauna since yesterday's events. you didn't share any classes today, and she hadn't responded to your texts during lunch. she had checked in on you last night, expressing concern about what ben had told you. however, you assured her that everything had gone well and agreed to meet up today at your usual time, which is why you felt so nervous.
suddenly, a hand rested on your shoulder, snapping you out of your thoughts. you looked up and found yourself locking eyes with a pair of big brown eyes.
"hey," shauna said, placing her backpack and gym bag on the floor before taking a seat in the chair next to yours. she seemed a bit nervous but not sad or worried, which eased your concerns about her conversation with ben not being as awkward or strange as you had feared.
"what are you doing here?" you asked curiously, offering a soft smile. "it's still pretty early."
"coach ben let us go early today; he had a meeting with the other coaches," she explained. "shouldn't you be studying for our english midterm?" she teased, raising an eyebrow while glancing at the paused tv show on your computer screen.
"i was just ten minutes ago; i needed a quick breather," you tried to convince her, though the truth was that you had given up on your studies an hour ago.
"sure..." she said, unconvinced, wearing a sly smile. she made a mental note to help you study later.
the two of you sat in silence for a few minutes, both of you contemplating yesterday's events, unsure of where or how to begin. you were about to ask if ben had spoken to her, but she started talking before you could muster the courage to open your mouth.
"so," she began, looking down at her hands and fidgeting with the rings on her fingers. "i'm sorry about yesterday, for kissing you like that," she said nervously. "i should've asked first."
you gazed at her, tilting your head slightly, and gave her a soft smile. "don't worry about it. i kissed you back, after all," you reminded her. "and i liked it," you confessed, feeling your cheeks grow warm.
"you did?" she asked, meeting your gaze as her shoulders relaxed a bit, her eyebrows raising slightly in a hopeful manner.
"i did," you confirmed. the two of you sat in silence for a few more seconds, but this time, you broke it.
"i like you, shauna," you said, your gaze shifting to the table in front of you in embarrassment. you were very nervous, and the only thing that gave you the courage to confess your feelings was the fact that she had initiated the kiss yesterday night.
shauna couldn't help but smile at your words, her cheeks flushed. "i like you too, y/n," she confessed. "a lot."
she put her hand on your thigh in an attempt to make you meet her gaze once more. and once you did, she asked, “can i kiss you?”
you smiled softly at her, “you don’t have to ask,” you whispered, slowly leaning closer.
just as your lips were about to meet, you heard a phone camera shutter sound from the table directly behind yours. you frowned and turned to locate the source of the sound, finding yourself locking eyes with a pair of green ones you instantly recognized.
"jackie!" shauna hissed, her face a mix of embarrassment and surprise. "what are you doing?"
"i'm sorry! you two looked so adorable; i had to capture this memorable moment," she explained. "i told you she liked you back," she added excitedly, raising her eyebrows suggestively and grinning widely.
"jackie, stop it," shauna scolded, her annoyance evident. finally, the blonde girl seemed to get the memo.
"okay, okay! i'm leaving now. see you later, guys," she said, skipping toward the entrance where jeff was waiting for her.
shauna sighed in embarrassment. "i'm sorry, that was so embarrassing."
"it's okay," you reassured her with a laugh. "at least we have a cute picture now."
"true," she admitted, a soft smile returning to her lips.
"by the way, did ben talk to you?" you asked intrigued.
"yeah, he did," she confirmed. "he gave me a 20-minute pep talk about how important you are to him and threatened to make me run 50 laps around the entire school if i ever hurt you," she chuckled.
"well, you better not then," you said, leaning closer to her once more, trying to hide your smile by biting on your lower lip.
"how could i? he showed me that one picture of you wearing a full-body star costume from your kindergarten christmas recital. i could never hurt that little thing," she teased, making a playful pout with her lips.
"he did not show you that picture," you said, covering your face in embarrassment.
"oh, yes, he did," she countered, retrieving her phone from her pocket and pressing the power button, revealing that the picture was now her lock screen.
"if you don't take that picture off your lock screen right now, shipman…" you playfully threatened, attempting to grab her phone from her hands, but she was quicker, “i’m gonna kill you.”
with her phone secure, she leaned back slightly, prompting you to lean in. seizing the opportunity, she deftly held your forearm in place and leaned in herself, planting a sweet kiss on your lips. without hesitation, you reciprocated, both of you wearing sheepish smiles on your faces.

Hey, can I request a Shauna Shipmen 1996] x Fem Reader. Where the reader was injured during the crash and Shauna find reader and rescue reader from the plane and take care of the reader?
It's cool if you cant I was just wondering
Helpless
Fandom: Yellowjackets
Pairing: Shauna Shipman x Reader
Genre: Angst; fluff at the end
Words: 7.4k+
Summary: you’re badly injured in the plane accident and Shauna is there to take care of you. things get complicated when she realizes youre being cold and distant.
Notes: i hope it’s okay that i added more of a storyline, i got a little carried away. pls send in more yellowjackets requests!
there was smoke. so much of it. there were screams coming from all directions and you could hear flames near. you weren't sure where you were or how you even winded up there. you had previously been trying to help Van get the oxygen mask because the plane was falling and then all of the sudden you're on your back with a burning sensation coming from your leg and other parts of your body. it felt like you were dying. all you could do was stare at the sky, it was bright blue but the dark smoke was making it hard to see how beautiful it actually was.
you could hear screams, people calling for help and others trying to find their friends. you could hear her voice. you could hear your name being called out by her and your best friend. you knew they were looking for you but truthfully you weren't sure where you even were. you couldn't stand, couldn't even lift your head more than an inch without a scorching pain running through it. it was almost felt like you were paralyzed. you wished you were dead. if you were paralyzed you hoped someone would kill you, wished sleep would consume your body and take you away forever.
there was a lot to live for. you were well aware of that. you were only eighteen, you had a full scholarship waiting for you back home and two loving parents that would never be the same without you. could you live? was there a reason to? you weren't dumb, you knew you were in the middle of nowhere and if you were hurt you'd have no hope. there's be no hope to help your injuries. you'd be dead weight.
the sky was beautiful. you'd never been the one to pay much attention to it. you preferred the starry night rather than the bright blue but not then. not in that moment when all you could think about was the fact that you'd be leaving angry at her. how could she live with that? how could you die with that? there was no way.
the source of your thoughts was getting closer, you could hear them calling your name, their voices getting closer and closer. Jackie was with her. you recognized her voice and maybe Tai? you weren't sure. you were tempted to say you were there, to tell them you were alive but you couldn't get your mouth to move or any words to come out. you felt like you weren't in your body. you wished you weren't. the pain was excruciating.
Shauna on the other hand didnt have a single scratch. she woke up with Jackie, woke up immediately looking for you but she couldn't find you. not on the plane at least. she wanted to save Van but she couldn't, Jackie pulled her away whilst telling her they needed to get to safety. she was looking for you. they both were. none of them said it at first, as soon as they were off the plane they both took in their surroundings quickly. there was no sign of you.
Shauna had been the one to call for you first and Jackie followed quickly after. they helped couldn't find you anywhere near the plane so they knew they had to look further. Tai and Van were close to you as well so they shared Jackie and Shaunas need to find you but Van was angry with the best friends so she ignored them. they didn't get all that far from the plane. just a couple feet away there you were, bloody and unresponsive. you weren't screaming for help, you weren't even acknowledging that they were there.
the brunette felt tears brim in her eyes at the sight. her heart had previously been beating faster than ever but it only intensified when she had seen you. her hands immediately began to shake and her feet began to run toward you faster than she could process. Jackie and Taissa followed after her. Shauna fell to her knees beside you, her eyes first trained on your dazed state before they ran down your body to check for injuries. you were wearing jeans but there was a huge gash on your thigh that was bleeding uncontrollably to the point in which the piece of clothing was soaked in it. you had a cut on your right eyebrow and cheek but they looked like they'd just heal with a scar.
"y/n" Shauna said as she began to shake you, her voice was desperate and you could hear the way it cracked. you wanted to assure her that you were okay, or at least as okay as you could be but you couldn't open your mouth. suddenly you felt two other people near you and that's when you saw Tai and Jackie each sharing the same expression Shauna had. the brunette was the most distraught, tears full on streaming down her face at this point as she shook you. she wanted to get a reaction out of you, anything, other than your eyes moving.
"we need to get her back to the rest" Tai said looking at each girl. Jackie wiped away her tears and nodded before she grabbed Shaunas shoulder to try and snap her out of it.
"come on, Shauna" she said desperately. that seemed to be enough for the brunette to nod and wipe away her tears as best as she could.
"i've got her," Tai said. she was the tallest and possibly the strongest out of all of them. neither girl protested as Taissa grabbed you as carefully as she could before she slowly stood up fully. you let out a scream at the action, your leg and stomach bringing you more pain than you had ever experienced. somehow that made Shauna let out a silent sigh of relief, you were finally giving a reaction. that's all that mattered. you'd be okay, you had to be okay and she'd do anything to make sure of that.
the four of you reached the rest as fast as you could. Taissa was practically sprinting with you in her arms, there was so much blood gushing out of your injury and she needed to get you to Misty who was helping everyone out. she never expected that to happen, truthfully no one did. when you were finally there all of the other girls turned to see you, gasps escaped their lips at the sight.
Misty was quick to reach you, "put her down here" she said pointing at an empty space near Ben who was passed out. Taissa followed her instructions and slowly put you down onto the ground. your face scrunched in pain and you were biting your tongue to try and prevent any noises to come out of you. it hurt to talk.
"does someone have a knife? anything sharp?" she yelled loudly but no one moved. the blonde grabbed one of the pieces of clothing that they had been ripping into pieces and put it up to your cut before pressing hard. you couldn't control the loud scream that erupted from your throat. someone, you weren't sure who, bent down beside Misty and handed her something. you could finally lift your head now, it still hurt but the pain from your leg was far stronger. the only problem was that you were light headed, the edges of your vision were growing darker and darker. it was possibly the blood loss or maybe the concussion you were almost one hundred percent sure you had.
whatever was in Misty's hand was sharp and you could feel your jeans being cut off. there was talking, a lot of it and you could hear your name in some of the conversation but you couldn't focus on anything but all of the pain you were feeling. the breaking point was the stinging sensation you felt on your gash. then everything went black.
everyone thought that you had died. everyone including Shauna. while you were screaming in pain she was hugging herself with tears streaming down her face and soft sobs escaping her lips. when your eyes closed an immense panic washed over her. her body moved faster than her mind as she tried to grab onto you but Taissa was there to stop her. Misty was working on getting the cut to stop bleeding. she had ordered someone get her a belt which thankfully Lottie had and tied it just above the gash to prevent blood flow. once she was done she had reassured everyone that you were alive. you had just passed out from the blood loss and probably the pain.
it was dark by the time you had woken. the sky was dark, stars littered around with the moon shinning a shed of light on everyone below it. you missed the bright blue sky. it felt more comforting then the endless darkness around you. the pain was still there. you were still near Ben but not far enough so that you weren't uncomfortable. Misty was there as soon as you opened your eyes. she had told you to take some pills, you weren't sure what they were, all you knew was that you needed more of them. the pain had died down as soon as you had taken them and you didn't feel as alive as you did seconds ago.
Misty had told you about your injuries. you had bruised ribs which explained the pain in your stomach and a concussion. the bruise would heal on its own along with the concussion, she just wasn't sure one the exact time frame. the gash would take long to heal, without a way to stitch it there's no definite time frame. you wondered if it would have been easier if you had just died. wondered what would have happened if you had simply stayed buckled into your seat and not helped Van out. you'd probably be unharmed and sitting around the fire with the rest of the team almost as if you were camping.
most of all you wouldn't have Shauna glued to your side. she had been there from the moment your eyes opened. you were sure she had been there even before then. she didn't say a word. neither did you. none of you had anything to say.
you were cold. you wondered if that was how she felt too or if it was because of the state you were in. you wanted to tell her to leave you alone and go back with everyone else but you didn't. she'd probably ignore you anyway.
that first night you slept holding onto yourself. shivering. you were asleep when the flannel was thrown over your shivering body. you were asleep when Shauna held your hand softly and thanked god that you were alive.
joining the soccer team had never been part of your plan. you were pretty good at sports, sure, but you had never thought about actually joining any teams. you were on the track team and that was enough for you. but you were Jackie's best friend, since you were in kindergarten meaning you did almost everything together. when she joined the soccer team she practically begged you everyday to join with her. she had annoyed you into trying out. you were mildly surprised when you made the team. Jackie on the other hand was ecstatic. not only was Shauna on the team but you were too.
thus started your friendship with the rest of the girls. Shauna and you had been sort of friends before joining. Jackie and Shauna were joined at the hip throughout high school so you'd be around each other quite a lot. just not enough to the point in which you'd consider each other more than just your best friends, friend.
until your Junior year. there was a party that one of the guys on the football team was throwing. you had gone with the rest of your friends to get drunk and maybe find someone to makeout with. you weren't expecting much though, being a lesbian wasn't exactly common amongst the school. it was why you were closest to Tai and Van, they understood you better than anyone else could. that included Jackie. that night you had gotten far too intoxicated and ended up having to get a ride home from Shauna. you wanted to stay longer to hang out with the quarterback but Jackie knew you and she knew you'd regret it sober. she and Shauna were sober enough to help you into the car. she had dropped Jackie off first, like she always did then went to your house.
you didn't say anything throughout the whole ride. the two of you didn't exactly have anything to talk about. not because you had nothing in common but because there was always a sense of rivalry between the two of you. it wasn't easy, both of you being Jackie's best friend and although neither of you had said it out loud, you each wanted the other to step back. except you were drunk that night. so drunk that as soon as the car stopped you leaned over the console and pulled the brunette into a rough kiss. Shauna was shocked at first, her eyes wide and her mouth frozen as she processed it. you were kissing her? was she dreaming? was this even real? she had always though you were straight, she had seen you hanging out with all of the jocks so she figured you'd be into them. she was terribly wrong.
seconds later she kissed you back with as much force as you. her hands were clutching the console whilst yours were tangled in her hair. you'd wanted to take things further and she was well aware of that by the way you reached for her hand and began to move it toward your thighs. she had stopped you before you could get there. you were wasted and she wouldn't do that to you. at the time she wasn't sure if you were sure about even being with a girl so she instead helped you inside your house.
with a terrible hangover and the memories of the night before you had to hang out with Jackie the next day. you had already made plans a week ago and you felt bad for cancelling. it's not like she'd let you off without a reason and neither of you were ever good at lying to one another. so you tried your best to ignore Shauna that whole day. you were embarrassed. so fucking embarrassed that you had kissed a girl that you weren't even sure if she liked girls. what would you say? sorry? well, that probably sounded like a good idea. even though she kissed back you hadn't asked before hand and the last thing you'd ever want is to force anyone to do anything.
Shauna was doing the opposite. she had tried to catch your eye the whole time, even tried to get you alone but you made sure to always leave the room if Jackie did. by the end of the day she wasn't able to direct a single word toward you. until the moment you had to leave. your dad had said he'd pick you up but not for another two hours and Jeff was outside waiting for the both of you to leave. you had no choice but to accept Shaunas offer to drive you home.
the brunette was beautiful, you'd always been aware of that. from the moment you'd first met all you could focus on were her beautiful big brown eyes that could possibly let her get away with anything. at least if it was up to you. it wasn't just her eyes though, it was the way she always smelled like vanilla or the way you'd always catch her staring. at first you didn't think much of it, you were on a higher social class than her at school so you figured that was why. boy were you wrong. that had been proven to you when you were outside your home. unlike last night she had been the one to kiss you. her hands found the back of your neck and she had planted her soft addicting lips on yours.
that's how your relationship started. from then on everything changed. sometimes she'd pull you into the locker room to makeout before practice or sometimes she'd make you stay until everyone left, then she'd pull you down onto her lap and bring your lips into a hungry kiss. you never actually talked about what it meant, not only were you afraid of the answer but you also didn't want to tell Jackie. you weren't sure how she'd react. she could either be happy that both of her best friends were together or hate you for stealing Shauna from her. either way you felt it was easier to keep it between you and the brunette. well, Shauna you and Van and Taissa.
you had no one else to talk to other than them and besides, you knew they'd keep it a secret.
it was just kissing until a particular summer night. she had snuck into your room which had become routine for the both of you. sometimes she'd come through the sleepover and your parents always saw it as two friends having a sleepover but other times she'd sneak in through your window in the middle of the night because she missed your lips. the reality was that she missed you but she'd never admit that. that night your makeout session started to grow rougher and hungrier to the point in which you couldn't take it anymore. that was the first night you'd ever slept together.
it was amazing.
neither of you could get enough. simple makeout sessions turned into quickies in the locker room and celebration sex after games. you had become addicted to Shauna Shipman and you weren't ashamed. not one bit. you loved her. you'd known that since the first time you had sex but neither of you ever said it. in a way you both knew regardless of an actual verbal confirmation. maybe it was the way Shauna would always drop Jackie off first regardless on if she would request it so she could spend time with you. maybe it was the way her hand always landed on your thigh during those drives or how she'd let you rant about your day with a smile and listening ears. maybe it was the way she'd pick up a coffee for you every morning because you liked it or the way she would sometimes let you borrow her flannels because they smelled like her. maybe it was the way you're eyes always found hers first when you entered a room or the way you'd buy her small things that reminded you of her. maybe it was the way you'd watch her favorite movies even though you found them boring or the way you'd hold her when you slept because she liked being spooned. but most of all it was the way you'd both only let your walls down when you were alone with one another.
you never had to say the words because you both just knew.
until the day before you had to leave for nationals. you had both been so excited for winning, even celebrated accordingly once you were alone in your room. it was during the party the night before that everything changed. Shauna was screwing Jeff. what was supposed to be a fun night with your best friend and the girl you loved turned into you seeing her with your best friends boyfriend fucking in his car. you didn't want to ride with Jeff so you asked Lottie for a ride home instead. somehow you had seen the car from the road and asked Lottie to pull over in case they needed help. they didn't.
Shauna didn't sneak into your room that night like she had promised in the locker room when her lips were on yours and she had her hand down your pants. she had lied. she had lied and you wouldn't forgive her. you couldn't.
the brunette was surprised when you sat down near the back with Van and not beside Lottie who was closest to them. you didn't talk to her when arriving at the airport or even when you said hi to Jackie. at the time she figured you were just upset that she hadn't spent the night with you like she had promised. she thought about apologizing and doing all the things she knew you loved to earn your forgiveness once you landed.
none of those thoughts ever came to life.
three days later and everyone was trying to organize everything so they had enough food and water for as long as possible. you were sitting against some kind of cushion with your back against a tree as you stared at your leg deep in thought. it still hurt, just not as much considering Misty had been giving you some kind of pain pills. you had no idea where they came from or how she had them but you didn't care as long as you didn't have to feel all the pain in your body. Shauna hadn't left your side in those three days. she wouldn't talk much, neither would you. she'd mostly just give you food or water and check the cut to make sure it wasn't getting infected. she wanted to say something, her thoughts were practically being screamed at you but you didn't ask and she didn't speak.
the brunette had grabbed some food from the stash and brought it over to you. she moved it closer to you so you'd grab it but you shook your head. you weren't hungry. Shauna sighed, "you need to eat" she said a frustrated with you. she understood how you were feeling, not being able to walk or move without feeling excruciating pain was horrible but you were acting petty and she didn't like this side of you.
"im not hungry" you said. your voice was raspy from the little talking you had been doing and your throat was a bit dry from how long it had been since you had any water. by then you had gotten out of the jeans with Shaunas help and put a pair of shorts on to make it easier on your cut.
"y/n" Shauna sighed out. you didn't budge though and she knew there was only one way to make you listen. "you have to eat if you want to take the pills. Misty told you this yesterday" she said glancing at the blonde who was having the same problem with Ben. you finally gave in and grabbed the small piece of food.
Shauna was watching you intently as you ate when a sudden and frantic voice caught both of yours attention."guys!" Taissa said running toward the group, "guys, there's a lake. there's a lake" she said slightly out of breath. "i saw it from that hill" she said pointing in that direction. "it looks about four of five miles away."
Shauna stood up from her spot beside you to face Taissa. "do you think we could hike it?" she asked the brunette.
"it's pretty rocky, but yeah" Tai confirmed with an excited smile. the idea of finally getting the chance to rinse of and get clean water was enough to fill them with hope.
Jackie didn't seem to share the sentiment as she stood up from her spot, "uh, we, uh, we can't.. we can't just leave." she chuckled.
Tai looked at her a bit annoyed, "we've got two days of water, tops. and then what? just sit around and die?" she asked sarcastically.
"what if the rescue team comes?" Jackie rebutted. she had too much hope and you couldn't help but to chuckle at her words. she may be your best friend but even you knew how stupid that sounded. they weren't coming. it's time everyone accepted that.
"do you think they're taking their time on purpose?" Tai said and looked around the group. "if they knew where we were, they would be here already." she said her voice softening at the end of her sentence.
"you don't know that" Jackie responds.
Tai rolled her eyes before she turned toward the only adult with them. "what do you think, coach?" her words made everyone including you turn to look at the older man.
he shrugged, "i dont, i don't know." he shook his head, "i mean, you'd have to leave me behind, i guess, but whatever"
"we could make a stretcher" Taissa offered immediately earning a laugh from Jackie.
"oh, okay"
"seriously. if we take turns carrying it.."
"n-no" Jackie cut her off. "this-this is bullshit. i say no. okay? no way"
"let's put it to a vote" Taissa said. "all in favor of waiting here?" a couple girls beside Jackie raised their hand. you didnt have an opinion, truthfully either way would be just as painful for you. Shauna glanced at you motioning for you to vote but you ignored her and kept your eyes on your lap. "all in favor of the lake?" Taissa asked which seemed to get the most votes out of the two options. you sighed softly.
in the end everyone grabbed their things to go to the lake. Shauna wrote on the plane that everyone had gone to the lake whilst Van and Taissa helped you up from your spot. you didn't need a stretcher like coach and even if you did you weren't there was a way to have the teens carry two people. Shauna had offered to help but you quickly asked Van and Taissa if they could instead. it was hard to get into a rhythm, only being able to use one leg was harder than you thought. not to mention there were times you had to put your leg down because you were growing tired which caused a jolt of pain to run though it.
finding the lake was a lot harder than Taissa originally expected and at some point everyone was beginning to give up but Van had been the first person to see it. you weren't leaning on her anymore, instead Taissa and Shauna were helping you. at first you protested but Shauna wouldn't take no for an answer. you watched as Van ran toward the lake, taking her clothes off in the process. Taissa and Shauna felt the need to run too but they didn't, they were patient as you took it one step at a time.
when you were finally closer to the lake Tai and Shauna helped you sit down near the water. you watched as everyone splashed around, wishing you could be just as happy as they were. you felt annoying and bitter but you couldn't help it. it was as if you were useless and it pissed you off, instead of helping you were holding them back. not to mention the situation you were in with Shauna. you watched as the brunette was in the splashing Van and some of the girls with a smile on her face.
she looked beautiful. no surprise there. she always looked beautiful. no matter what. even when she woke up in the morning with messy hair or after practice when she was all sweaty. you always thought she looked breathtaking. you wished you could unlove her, wished there was a way to erase all the memories you shared so you wouldn't feel the pain in your chest. every time you thought about how she was using you, the way she was fucking someone else when she promised she wasn't. you felt stupid for ever believing her.
the brunette met your eye with a gentle smile. you didn't return it. she looked around before getting out of the water and approached you. "do you want to get in?" she asked softly. you didn't look up at her. "it could help" she said referring to the cut. she was right, it could help clean it and prevent an infection but you couldn't look at her. every time you did it was as if there was a knife through your heart and you couldn't take it.
"i'm fine" you said curtly, your eyes still not meeting hers. if you would've looked you would've seen the hurt flash through her eyes and the way her eyes began to tear up. she wasn't used to this. she was used to the warm and soft version of you, the you that would kiss her softly and tell her she was beautiful. the you that would hug her and tickle her to get a laugh out of her when she was having a bad day, the you that always made sure she felt loved and seen. she had never felt more invisible than in that moment. not even when she felt like she was in Jackie's shadow. being ignored by you was the most painful thing she'd ever endured.
Shauna looked around to see if anyone had heard only to be met with Jackie's confused gaze. she swallowed thickly and walked back to the water in an effort to distract herself from the pain in her chest.
later that same day they found a cabin. it was a miracle, it had a lot of things they needed but most of all it was a place they could be safe in. you spent most of your time inside the cabin or on the porch. it had been a couple of days since the lake and things were getting a bit better. Nat and Travis had been the only two that knew how to use a gun so they were officially the ones to go hunting. they ended up finding a wolf pretty quickly which everyone was thankful for considering how hungry everyone was. they had run out of food a couple days ago.
you were inside the cabin whilst everyone else was eating outside. you were too tired to move and all you wanted was to eat and go to sleep. your concussion had healed along with the bruises on you stomach, it was still sore but you could sit up without screaming in pain. your leg was okay, it still wasn't completely healed but Ben had made you a single crutch after he made his own so you didn't have to rely on others to move around.
the door opened but you didn't care to see who it was, you already knew it was Shauna. she was still doing everything for you, making sure you were okay and simply not leaving your side unless she had to. it was annoying. you couldn't even think with her near you at all times. the brunette bent down to your level with a plate of food in her hand. she put it on the floor in front of you and sat down fully as she watched you grab the plate and begin to eat.
she couldn't take it anymore, she couldn't take you ignoring her and icing her out completely. you weren't like this, never had she seen you so angry and resentful and she didn't think what she had done was as bad to get this reaction out of you. so she did what she thought was best.
"im sorry," she said softly. you froze at her words, did she know that you knew? you didn't think there was a way unless she had also seen you that night but you didn't think so. she seemed far too distracted to notice anyone else near. "i should've told you that i couldn't make it that night" she continued. her words made you laugh. the brunette seemed surprised by your reaction and truthfully it made her feel embarrassed.
"you seriously think i'm mad that you ditched me that night?" you asked with a laugh. you were far too amused by this. Shaunas eyes shifted down to her lap. she didn't respond to you, not knowing what else to say.
your condescending tone stuck with her for the rest of the week. she didn't understand what else she could've done to make you so upset. what could she have done to make you so cold and dry? she didn't understand it. after that talk she tried her best to give you space. she still helped you and took care of you as much as you allowed but she wasn't glued to your side like usual. she couldn't take the look of annoyance you'd have every single time she was near.
the two of you were at the lake washing clothes. Jackie was supposed to be there with the both of you but like she had been doing a lot lately, she was late. she didn't like the fact that she had to do chores like the rest of you and she made all types of excuses so she didn't have to help out. at first it annoyed you, specifically because you were always assigned with Shauna and her and considering Jackie never came around, you were left alone with the brunette.
you were standing near the brunette as you washed the clothes, you were slightly bent because of your leg. it felt good to be in the water, it made you feel clean. out of the corner of your eye you could see the brunette doing the same thing you were. she was quiet. you'd noticed that she wasn't as clingy as she had been before after the conversation you had in the cabin. she seemed distant and every time you'd catch her looking at you she would look away blinking rapidly and you knew it was her trying to prevent her tears from falling.
you felt like you had been punishing her enough, you needed to tell her the truth. you didn't owe her it but you couldn't go another day without knowing why. why she didn't have enough with you, why she had to sleep with Jackie's boyfriend and best friend. why she had to be so fucking selfish.
the sound of you clearing your throat made Shauna glance at you. with a deep sigh you opened your mouth to speak, "i saw you" you said softly. Shauna froze, her brows furrowed as she tries to process what you just said. you saw her? what did that mean? you sensed her confusion and decided to elaborate. "with Jeff. the night night before we came" you said.
it felt as if she had punched in the gut. the air in her lungs had been knocked out of her and the color had been drained from her face. "i-.." she said but the words had died in her throat. what could she say? what could possibly be said to make things better?
you shook your head softly, "why?" you asked your voice breaking slightly and your bottom lip began to quiver. you hadn't cried since the night you found out and it felt as if all the emotions that had been bottomed up were going to spill out of you. Shaunas heart rate quickened at the sight of you crying, endless tears falling down your face.
the brunette took a step closer to you, "please," she whispered, "i'm sorry" what else could be said but i'm sorry? what else could be said but how fucking sorry she was for breaking your heart, for hurting you. even though neither of you had ever said it, you were in love. you both knew it. it might've been silent but you both knew so she knew how much you were probably hurting and it was because of her. because she fell into temptation stupidly.
a scoff left your lips at her words, "no" you shook your head. "i want an answer. i want to know why" you said your breathing was starting to grow labored and it truthfully felt as if the oxygen wasn't reaching your lungs.
Shauna bit her lip as she cried. "i don't know" she whispered truthfully. the most fucked up part was that she probably didn't know why, probably only did it because she was a teenage girl who made mistakes and wanted everything her best friend had.
"bullshit" you said shaking your head. "having Jeff wasn't enough? you had to have me too?" you said bitterly. Shauna shook her head quickly and took more steps toward you until she was close enough to reach out and touch you.
"please y/n. it's not like that" she said shaking her head rapidly.
"fuck that. it is like that. it's exactly like that. did you want to be her so bad that you had to have her boyfriend and best friend? are you that fucking selfish?" you said raising your voice. you didn't seem to care that Jackie could be near and could be hearing everything you were saying. it didn't matter. not then. not when all you could feel was a blinding rage and pain that was making it impossible for you to breathe. for you to live.
Shauna felt helpless. there was nothing she could do to make the pain go away, it didn't matter how desperately she wanted to.
"is that why you kissed me back?" you asked, "why you fucked me again and again? why you couldn't say no because you finally had everything she did?" Shauna shook her head at your words. she grabbed your hands and squeezed them tightly, desperate to convey how sorry she was. you wanted to pull away but you didn't because you couldn't help but think that it would probably be the last time you allow her to get this close.
"of course not. i wanted you. it had nothing do with her, not when it was with you. i just wanted to be with you" she said, tears still full on streaming down her face. "please believe me" she begged.
"no" you said shaking your head, "fuck you Shauna" you practically spat and finally snatched your hands away from her hold. "fuck you for making me feel like we had something when all you cared about was yourself"
"please" Shauna begged once more, her brown eyes making you want to forgive her, made you want to hug her and tell her all would be okay but it wouldn't. you couldn't lie to her or yourself. not like that. you were slipping away and she could feel it, she could feel you slipping from her fingertips and she couldn't take it. it led to her confessing the words she had been wanting to say months ago. "i love you" she whispered, her eyes searching yours.
everything stopped in that moment. your heart, your breathing, the world. it all stopped for that one second as those words left her lips. she loved you.
she loved you.
she loved you and yet she still broke your heart so how could that ever really be love? you knew love was painful but it shouldn't be this painful. it shouldn't hurt this much. being loved shouldn't hurt like this.
"i ended things with Jeff as soon as things started between us but that night.. i just - i dont know why came over me but it was a mistake and i regretted it as soon as it happened. just please," she begged once more. she wasn't sure what she was even begging for any more. maybe your forgiveness or maybe your love. either way it didn't make a difference.
she was pregnant. Shauna was pregnant with Jeff's baby. you had overheard her and Taissa talking one night, everyone else was asleep and truthfully you were only awake because you couldn't shake off the last conversation you had with the brunette. you hadn't spoken since that day.
hearing her say that she was pregnant seemed to change everything. she would be having a baby with her best friends boyfriend. you wondered if she would get with Jeff, wondered if Jackie would break up with him or if she loved him enough to stay. did you love her enough to forgive her? of course you did. it didn't matter how hurt you were, all you could think about since that day was how much you missed her and how much you believed everything she said.
what if this was your last chance to tell her you wanted to work things out? what if you ending things completely resulted in her getting with Jeff. you couldn't allow that. you wouldn't. you loved Shauna and you wouldn't give her up. not like this. maybe finding out she would be having a baby was your wake up call. you weren't sure. the only thing you were one hundred percent sure of was the fact that you would do anything to make her happy. you would be a part of the baby's life if it meant you could be a part of Shaunas.
leaves crunched under your footsteps. everything had healed now. you didn't have to use a crutch when you walked although you did still had a limp. you weren't sure how long it would last but you hoped it wouldn't be forever. you could see Shauna from where you were. she was sitting near the lake with her diary in her lap as she wrote. you'd always known that she wrote in her diary quite frequently, you found it cute when you first found out. you always wondered if she ever wrote about you.
the brunette was so focused on her book that she hadn't heard you approaching her. your pace was slow, the limp not exactly helping you. it wasn't until you were five steps away that she finally looked in your direction, her eyes widening slightly in surprise. she looked speechless and you couldn't blame her. you were sure she thought you wouldn't talk to her again.
you took your time sitting down but Shauna was quick to help out of reflex. she thought you would push her hand away or ignore her but to her surprise you took her hand and shot her a thankful smile. "thanks." you said once you were finally sitting down. Shauna nodded in acknowledgment.
there was a silence between you that made Shauna nervous. were you going to tell her that it was officially over? that you wanted nothing do with her? if so, she could only hope that you'd make it quick so she could mourn her broken heart alone.
you cleared your throat as you looked at the water in front of you. Shauna looked at you out of the corner of her eye but didn't face you. afraid of what was next. there was so many ways you could start the conversation. tell her that you simply knew or that you'd overheard her and Tai talking. maybe you could even ask if there was something she wanted to tel you but that was just mean. you wouldn't make her tell you.
so you did what you thought was best. "you're pregnant" you said still looking out in front of you. Shaunas head snapped in your direction as she heard those words. her eyes immediately began to water and her heart was pulsing in her chest. you figured it was time you finally turn to look at her and as you did your heart broke. she looked terrified and that was the last thing you wanted. "hey," you whispered and brought your thumb up to her cheek to wipe the tears away. "it's okay" you reassured her. "it's okay" you repeated in hopes that she would stop crying.
"im sorry" Shauna cried but you shook your head.
"don't be sorry" you whispered and pulled her into a tight hug. she threw her arms around you and hugged you tightly as she nuzzled her face in the crook of your neck. she missed you so much but she hadn't realized just how much until then. until she finally felt your arms around her for the first time in weeks. "i love you, Shauna" you confessed against the crown of her neck as you kissed it softly.
the brunette pulled away from you instantly, her doe eyes looking at you in disbelief. she thought she'd never hear those words from you. not after your fight. you smiled gently at her and reached for her hands. "i'll be there for you and the baby. if that's what you want. even if it's just as your friend" you said softly.
Shauna matched your smile, her hands cupping your face lovingly before she leaned in to kiss you. her lips were soft against yours. you missed this so fucking much. you never wanted to let go of her. not again.
once you pulled away she placed her forehead against yours. "i love you too"

the yellowjackets when you wear their shirts would include...
Hi, I promised I would come back and I just disappeared, I'm really sorry! As I mentioned before, my computer has been having huge problems, and I've tried to fix it before, but it looks like I'm going to have to format it after all.
In the meantime, I've got a laptop abandoned at home and I'm trying to write on it. Half the delay was because I was trying to adjust to the new method and the other half because I really had no idea for these requests and giving you shitty stuff would not be fair at all.
Ok, so here we go, probably for a wave of headcannons with other fandoms (AHS fans, I promise I'll answer all of your asks, don't worry!
Enjoy!
Requests will be a little closed for a while just until I get my act together! Sorry for the delay and closing!
If you can also let me know in the replies if you want more prompts and headcannons with the yellowjackets, I would appreciate it! And let me know if you want me to include Travis or\and Coach Ben on it too...
--------------------------
Jackie Taylor
I don't think Jackie would make a fuzz about it. Alright, she would probably be surprised on the first day. But because she's supposedly the most popular girl in school, she's even happy that you're being influenced by her style, after all, that's what popular girls are for, right?
It will also depend a lot on your relationship. If you are friends, for example, Jackie will insist on letting you take some clothes that no longer fit her. And if you're dating, she'll make sure to tease you as much as she can until you express the reaction that pleases her the most.
"You look beautiful, (Y\N), my style really suits you, like I always said."
Shauna Shipman
Shauna wouldn't mind too much about you wearing her clothes either, but unlike Jackie, I think she'd be pretty insecure about commenting on it, kind of afraid that it would make you stop wearing it, and also, of course, due to her internal issues with herself.
But Shauna would find it incredibly adorable, though, and would give you some signs that she liked the offbeat idea, her way. This includes not-so-subtle glances while you're wearing the fabric, or some clothes, which are her favorites as well, laid out on the bed when you come to visit… Little details that let you know that Shauna isn't bothered at all therefore.
I mean, unless it's her flannels, these inseparable fucking flannels… Those no one can take, not even a significant other.
"Uh… You look cute, (Y\N), in my outfit… I like it."
Natalie Scatorccio
I don't think Natalie would mind you wearing her clothes. In fact, I think it would be a good opportunity for her to take advantage of this and tease you as much as she can. She will do anything to make you self-conscious and blush, but not in a bad way. Like, that's just her love language.
And, let's face it, Natalie is needy enough not to let her scent wash off her clothes when you take them off. On nights when she needs to sleep alone, if you're dating, she'll purposefully grab one of her pieces of clothing and smell in the scent to keep you close.
"Hey, sweetie, lookin' pretty, huh? Is this outfit mine by any chance?"
Taissa Turner
I'm a hundred percent sure that Tai would be one of those people who abominate clichés, unless she's doing it herself. So, at first, this idea of sharing clothes with her significant other is something she would find completely silly. The first time, she would just kindly tell you to stop it, in a way that doesn't hurt your feelings (I love a soft-hearted Tai, don't judge me!).
But then, as time goes on, I'm also one hundred percent sure that Tai would buy clothes in her style that exclusively fit you. It's kind of her guilty pleasure, since spoiling you is one of her most practiced love languages. And well, considering the tantrum she threw the first few times, how much you've evolved is impressive.
"Okay honey, which one do you want to wear today?"
Lottie Matthews
Okay, get ready for the biggest love bomb you've ever received in your life. Lottie would be completely adorable about your wearing her clothes, and not only would she not mind at all, she would make a point of convincing you that you are one of the lost paintings by one of the famous artists of past centuries, or something like that.
In fact, it's kind of a headcannon on my part that Lottie doesn't have her own style and that she's always looking for something that makes her belong somewhere (some clothes in her teens she wore because of her mother's influence, just because it would please her, you know? )
So, seeing you wearing the dresses that she finds extremely over the top, or the blouses that have too much detail and too little simplicity, is like one of the greatest achievements of her life, if not the greatest. I don't think Lottie ever liked that flashy style more than when you started stealing it from her.
"Wow, wow, wait a minute! Wow, (Y\N), I think you wearing this made me a hundred times more in love with you! Wear it more, babe. You can wear my clothes as much as you like."
Van Palmer
(Okay, since Liv identifies as they\them, I'm going to change the pronouns for this one, hope you don't mind!)
Van and Natalie would have the same approach when it comes to stealing their clothes. But, I think, as an honest opinion, Van would turn this more into a flirting game than anything else. They are simply obsessed (it reads turned on) when you wear something of theirs.
And of course, this opens the door for some good teasing that will inevitably end in making out. Like, how would you handle it, with Van looking you up and down and smirking with that smile you're completely drawn to every time? It's almost impossible for nothing to happen.
I'm also pretty sure that if you were dating, they wouldn't let you have only your clothes in your closet or in your bags. There would always have to be three or more pieces of them that you could use as much or as little as you wanted.
"Wow! Watch out, everyone! There's an extremely hot living being crossing the room, and look what a coincidence, they're wearing my clothes!"
Misty Quigley
Misty would probably have the best reaction ever. Then she, who was always ridiculed for her attitudes and style, having someone who was able to wear her clothes as if they were completely ordinary. Are you kidding? You'll practically make her day if you do something like that!
Obviously, she would be embarrassed and reluctant to ask you the first time why you were doing it, but Misty Quigley has two sides to the coin, and one of them being the impulsive side, I think that would be the one that would beat her to the courage. And your response of the type "because I love your style" would simply keep her up all night.
By the next morning, her entire circle of potential friends would have known about it…
"OH MY GOD! Are these… are these my clothes? Okay, now you really need to let me do your makeup, (Y\N)!"
Laura Lee
(Same thing as Liv\Van, but I don't really know if Laura Lee would use neutral pronuns... It's all because of Jane Widdop, our baby!)
Laura Lee would be pretty surprised if you showed up wearing their clothes, and honestly, I don't think there would be any malice on their part when you did. More than a possible sign that they could be more than friends to you, this would mean that you could, above all, be friends.
They would find it extremely sweet, actually, the effort and dedication you put into choosing an item of clothing that they loved, but was also comfortable for you. In short, Laura Lee would just adore you even more, if that were even possible!
"Oh! Oh! I can't believe it! You look beautiful wearing this, (Y\N). In God's eyes and mine mostly."

shauna shipman x reader
just fluff <3 oh and a little spice at the end, because shauna deserves it 😋
shauna's arms felt warm wrapping around your waist, as your head leans against her neck. you both sway slightly to the music in the background. you giggle as she snuggles into your back, pressing soft kisses against your neck—experimenting with the occasional nibble. "you look delicious tonight," shauna's warm breath tickles your neck, as you giggle, bending over to escape.
"get a room, you two," taissa scoffs, rolling her eyes teasingly and bringing the red solo cup to her lips with a smirk. you pok your tongue out at her in response, eliciting shauna's warm laughter.
van smiles, wrapping their arms around taissa, "yeah, you guys need to stop being so affectionate in public," they teased, landing a sloppy kiss to the side of tai's face. the brunette blushed deeply, turning to face her partner and wrap her arms around them, "or maybe we should get a room?" taissa nodded in return.
as the two of them left, you and shauna exchange a glance. "I could use some fresh air," she whispers, pulling away from you and heading outside. your hand remained firmly grasped in hers, as she led you through the crowd and out onto lottie's front porch. "that's better."
you hum in agreement, leaning against the railing and looking out into the night sky. "it's beautiful tonight, you can actually see the stars," you say in awe. turning around, you smile brightly as shauna approaches; she rests her waist against yours, threading her arms through yours and leaning into kiss you slowly.
"nothing can compare to you," she mumbles against your lips.
you snort, before bursting into laughter. "no, I'm sorry, that was so corny," you giggle, pressing an apologetic kiss on-top of her nose. her cheeks flushed before she joined you. "reading soapy romances again?"
"if they wrote about lesbians, trust me, I'd be the first in line," she replies, playing with the belt loop of your jeans. her gaze drops, as she focuses on how well they shaped your thighs. "these are cute. you know what would make them cuter?"
"if they were on the floor?" you finish for her, offering her a tantalising smirk. "wowza, shipman. bringing out all the pickup lines tonight?" you tease, tucking her hair behind her ear.
shauna sighs, "they're not working, are they?" you shake your head, bursting into laughter. she groans, leaning her forehead against your chest, as you take her head in your arms—placing a kiss on top of her crown.
"stop listening to jackie, she sucks at pickup lines," you reply, running your fingers through her hair. shauna chuckles into your chest, making your stomach flutter and your thighs rub together uncomfortably. she pulls back, eying you suspiciously.
shauna's eyes droop down, smirking mischievously, "it's okay, baby, I'll help you with that once we get home," she mutters, tracing a finger across your thigh.
grabbing her jacket, "I think I'm ready to go home now," you whisper, smashing your lips against hers. she chuckles into the kiss, feeling up your ass and giving it a little squeeze—you moan against her lips, pressing your tits against hers. shauna's kisses grows more heated, as she begins devouring your lips and her fingers begin travelling elsewhere.
you pull away teasingly, trying to appear seductive but failing miserably because of how turned on you were. "now. now. let's go," you beg. shauna laughs as you yank her through the crowd and almost run back to the car, eager to get home as quickly as possible.

summary: shauna cures your neediness after a long night at school.
tags: no smut, mommy!shauna, breast sucking, transmasc!reader, oral fixations :333
"is that you, baby?" shauna heard the front door open and shut from the bedroom, hearing you reply with a "yeah". you came into the room seeing shauna smiling while on her laptop in bed. you had just gotten home from a very long night lecture and all you wanted to do the entire time was cuddle up with your mommy.
"there's my baby, c'mere," she closed the laptop and put it aside, opening her the blanket up for you to come inside. after slipping off your shoes and jeans, you nuzzled into her chest letting the warmth consume you. "you really did miss me, hmm?" shauna patted your back, feeling you grip onto the sides of her v-neck. "my needy boy."
you whined, just wanted you hide away into shauna's chest forever. you wouldn't dare pull away, not even for a second. she felt your needy hands gripping all around her waist, her hand going down to the small of your back. "is there something to want, honey?" her mommy voice turned on, feeling your hand grip onto the collar of her v-neck, ready to pull it down.
"ah ah ah, ask mommy nicely." she tilted your chin up, looking into your glossy eyes. "...can i suck on them, mommy? please?" you pleaded, knowing she would never say no to you. "yes you can, baby." shauna smiled wide, letting you pull down her shirt, making her nipple peek out. she hummed when you latched on, running a hand through your hair. "good boy." shauna couldn't get enough of the little sucking sounds you were making, so content and comfortable on her chest.
and it was like that for the rest of the night.

THIS WAS SO CUTE OMG 😭😭
sketches and feelings - shauna shipman
summary – shauna tries to find out what her artist friend keeps hiding from her (approx 2k words)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
you sat on the bleachers, sketchpad held close to your face, shading a doodle of your teammates in action. you were currently benched for taking a bad fall earlier in practice, leading you to twist your ankle. it wasn’t broken or anything, but it was extremely sore.
you looked up after noticing someone approach you in the corner of your eye, and before she could take a peek, you closed the sketchpad, securing the content inside from the prying eyes of your best friend and crush, shauna shipman.
“you drawing me again?”, she teased, ruffling your hair, plopping her tired body down next to you. she leaned against you, inhaling contently, as she felt her muscles relax.
“yes, actually”, you smiled gently, wrapping an arm around her. you felt happy with shauna like this, and though she took your advances as friendly, the buzz in your own heart said otherwise, “and no, i won’t show you.”
she groaned, giving you a playful jab in the ribs. “show me, (y/nnnnn)!”
you shook your head, laughing.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
shauna was sprawled over your bed, leaning over a textbook. her face showed concentration, but the both of you knew that she was probably thinking about anything else other than the content on the pages. your head was also elsewhere, your maths homework abandoned on your desk sloppily. your knees were tucked neatly into your chest as you bent your elbow against the hard wood, eyes flicking between shauna and the page of your sketchbook.
you stared at her nose, then back to the sketchbook shading the soft shadows, then her cheeks, then the sketchbook, and then her lips. your eyes darted back to the page quickly, a blush covering your cheeks. every time you looked at shauna’s lips, you didn’t think about the form or the way the lighting hit them – you thought about how badly you wanted to feel them against your own.
shauna brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear, catching your stare. “what’s wrong?”, she asked.
you looked down, closing the sketchbook before safely tucking it into your bag. “nothing, i just think that your hair frames your face beautifully.”
shauna chuckled, sitting up to face you. “i know you’re an artist so you state things in a very descriptive way, but that was genuinely the nicest compliment i’ve ever heard.”
you covered your mouth with a hand in a casual motion in order to hide your (reddening face) grin, “it’s the truth, shipman.”
upon the use of her surname, a cushion was thrown your way.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
you admired your best friend from across the fire pit. she was chatting with lottie, another teammate of yours, a red solo cup held securely in her hand. you watched as the dancing flames illuminated her face, casting her in a warm glow that was comparable only to the heavens above.
every time the fire crackled, the orange hues shifted gently, and for the first time in your life, you genuinely felt upset that you had forgotten to take your sketchpad somewhere with you.
lottie nudged a hand towards you, noticing your gaze, causing shauna to divert her attention towards you as well. she smiled, drunkenly, and began to shuffle your way. you felt small as her happy, brown eyes tracked you, a hint of mischievousness twinkling within them.
“no sketchpad today?”, is all your friend commented as she leaned up against you. your brain felt like static as you felt her weight against yours, the alcohol adding a bit of extra clumsiness. you shook your head no, thinking for a moment.
then with a playful glint, you replied, “no, which is such a shame. the glow of the fire makes you look ethereal.”
you could feel shauna stiffen against you, and for a moment, her cheeks looked as though they were dusted in a rosy blush. however, before you could say any more, she gave you a side hug and stormed off. you shrugged your shoulders, blaming her alcohol on the strange interaction. after all, shauna was straight and would never see you the way you saw her.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
the day that the plane crashed was the worst day of your life.
you dragged yourself against the podzol, absorbing the sight of the wreckage. disaster surrounded you, your teammates lifting each other away from the ruin and chaos. you crawled on the ground, hurt, clenching your jaw shut, tears in the pricks of your eyes.
then looking up, you saw coach martinez’ lifeless body impaled in a tree.
that day was the day you lost your passion for art, and despite misty clicking your dislocated elbow back into place, you refused to pick up a pencil ever again. the memory of your deceased friends stuck in your mind like a photograph, and you couldn’t help but think of them whenever you stared at a blank page. they were an intrusive thought, and even shauna couldn’t help your brain bury them. your sketchpad remained shoved in the bottom of your rucksack, collecting dust, for you were too afraid to let it collect memories.
you closed off from others a lot, and everyone’s initial concern turned more into impatience, as you were often caught staring off into the distance. you weren’t harming anyone by staring, per say, but with high tensions came nasty comments, and with nasty comments came arguments.
shauna, despite it all, stayed by your side no matter what. maybe she didn’t truly understand just why your head was in the clouds all the time, but she understood that you were hurting, and she did everything she could to help you.
it was a few months after the crash when you started drawing again. it was a pure coincidence that you had taken your sketchpad on your walk that day. part of you was itching to get back into art, but another part of you hesitated. your first drawing was rusty – you had seen a deer while pondering by the riverbank away from the cabin, and with no weapons on hand, you decided to just sketch it. it ended up being more fun than you thought.
the next thing you drew was much nicer. it was a few days after the deer incident and you were relaxing by the fire after dinner, suffering from a cold. van and taissa were laughing to each other as they flicked bottle caps across a table, playing some sort of made-up game. with a newfound inspiration, you sketched the two, conveying their everlasting joy perfectly in that moment. shauna watched you from the other side of the room, a curious look on her face. she stared as you showed the two lovebirds the drawing, and the way their faces blew up into the widest smiles she had seen since the day the plane crashed.
“i wanna see,” she said with an old familiarity as you scrunched your face up in a flustered shock, shutting the sketchpad.
“no,” you giggled, cheekily, “not yet.”
shauna grew frustrated, huffing in a corner while you gave her an apologetic look. you weren’t ready to show her what you had been drawing, but you would soon. she just had to be patient – she knew that she wasn’t though,
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
the day that shauna reciprocated your feelings, you were assigned the task to go and gather water.
the moment the brunette heard the slamming of the front door, followed by a familiar silence, she climbed up the ladder to the attic where your bag was stored. she shuffled through it, almost hungrily, looking for one thing and one thing only – your sketchpad.
after around fifteen minutes, shauna began to lose hope. she had searched your bag over and over, with no sketchpad to be found. as she stood up, disappointment deep in her face, she noticed something out of place in the corner of her eye. she followed her vision, noticing a familiar sketchpad on a beam overhead. with a cocky smirk, shauna reached up to grab it.
she handled the book as if it was an artefact, fragile and gentle, and after sitting down straight, she opened the first page, her heart beating a million miles an hour. this felt wrong – it felt forbidden, and shauna shipman could not help but to feel nervous, wiping her sweaty palms on her filthy trousers.
the first page was a simple lighting exercise with loose figures drawn in various poses. shauna’s eyebrows rose as she nodded, impressed with your technical skill. she flipped to the next page, admiring charcoal scenery of a forest complimented by a night sky. she kept flipping through the sketchpad, taking some time to cherish every single drawing, every scribble, every stroke.
and then, shauna’s heart stopped, as she turned onto a page with the illustrations that she had been looking for – the portraits of her from various angles. she was immersed in conversation in one of the drawings, smiling in another, and then the third drawing – shauna could feel a lump in her throat. it was a drawing of her from afar, staring with a curious expression on her face. it was a portrait of her from the night you had drawn van and taissa. she looked godly in it, like a renaissance statue.
shauna damn near dropped the sketchpad when she heard a gasp to her left. turning her head quickly, she looked at you like a deer in the headlights. you were standing static, staring at her with an indiscernible expression, before you speed walked her way, standing over her.
“what the hell, shauna?”, you growled, bending down to take your sketchpad away from the perpetrator. shauna held the sketchpad tight in her hands, resisting from your pull. she looked at you with her big brown doe eyes, your own frustrated gaze softening. “i told you not to look…”
your crush looked down at the drawings again, then back at you. “(y/n), you drew me wrong”, she said, completely unacknowledging your embarrassment. your face grew red from shame. you just wanted to hide your artwork – no, yourself – away from the world. shauna sighed when she realised you weren’t taking her bait, “look here.”
you looked down slowly, to where her finger hovered over the pencil drawing, careful not to smudge it. “what’s wrong with it?”
“you drew my lips too thin.”
you gulped, imagining her lips. you could never stare at them for too long without getting flustered, so you always made them up when you drew. suddenly, you felt a hand hold you by the cheeks, as shauna’s eyes darkened, “look, mine are plumper.”
your eyes met the sight of her lips, slightly dry, but still flawless. the two of you stayed in this position for a couple of seconds until shauna pulled you in, meeting mouth to mouth. the kiss was tender and sweet, no malice hidden behind it. you felt an unfamiliar dizziness travel from your nape to the top of your head. it felt like you were dreaming, but you knew you weren’t.
after pulling away, shauna put the sketchpad down, pulling you into her chest. she hummed happily, pecking you on the head, “i’m sorry i looked through your sketchpad. i just wanted to see what you were drawing. i won’t disrespect you like that again.”
you moved your head up, to meet her perfect innocent eyes again, “it’s okay, i wanted to perfect my portraits of you before showing them, but this is even better. i didn’t know you felt that way about me”.
you could hear the smile in shauna’s voice as she answered, “i’ve felt that way since the first day you drew me, (y/n). i never stopped feeling these strong feelings for you since then – i thought i’d go crazy not being able to see the thing that made me fall in love with you.”
you leaned in to kiss her again, receiving a similar passion in return. shauna shipman was perfect to you, and you knew you would draw her again and again.

The core 7 Yellowjackets with an s/o who loves halloween.
A/n: HAPPY OCTOBER!!! i luv halloween season
Characters: Natalie Scatorccio, Lottie Matthews, Van Palmer, Misty Quigley, Shauna Shipman and Taissa Turner
Natalie Scatorccio
“That is so childish”
And then she does everything with you anyways.
Natalie didn’t have an awesome childhood, sure she went trick or treating a few times but she never got super into any of that stuff.
Shes hesitant at first, not really seeing the point until she sees how excited you are about getting in the halloween spirit.
Natalie ends up getting just as excited about halloween as you do once she gets super into festivities
matching costumes
eating candy
carving pumpkins
and most importantly
scaring the shit out of little kids.
Natalie likes the scary aspect of halloween.
Natalie is the type of person to go to spirit halloween to try out all the animatronics
she buys abunch of freaky little masks to scare you with.
oh she’s AWFUL when it comes to actual Halloween night
leaves a bowl of candy outside the trailer with a sign and then jumps out to scare the living shit out of little kids with some scary ass masks.
“Natalie! That is SO mean!” You scold her, she thinks it’s funny though.
Natalie would love your halloween obsession, although hesitant at first, she would indulge in the fun.
Lottie Matthews
“But why though?”
Lottie doesn’t get it.
C’mon guys, let’s be serious
she’s rich
I don’t think this girls ever gone trick or treating in her life
her parents didn’t see the point of going out and asking for free candy when they could literally buy Lottie pounds of it whenever she wanted to.
Lottie doesn’t really strike me as someone who likes chocolate.
she likes other candy, probably sour stuff or like jolly ranchers.
she likes the baking aspect of it though.
she’ll make halloween cookies with you or pumpkin bread or pie.
if you ask her to carve pumpkins with you..
it’s a big fat no
Lottie thinks it’s gross
she might carve one but you have to take out all the pumpkin guts for her
smh, princess behavior 🙄
she loves to go to pumpkin patches though, she thinks they’re cute.
she DOES NOT like scary stuff though.
no haunted houses for her
if you get her to watch any horror movies with you, she’ll squeal and cling onto you the whole time (pookie)
she likes to hand out candy though.
Lottie likes seeing all the cute little kids running around in costumes, it’s adorable to her
Lottie would love to have a matching couples costume though
Overall, Lottie is okay with halloween, she likes the cute costumes. She definitely prefers Christmas though.
Van Palmer
Are u serious?
Van FUCKING LOVES HALLOWEEN
Definitely trick or treated a lot as a kid and indulged in all of that shit even if her mom wasn’t very present.
Van loves to cuddle up and eat candy, watching horror movies with you.
She will ramble through all of the movies though, so beware.
Doesn’t really get scared easily.
Like Natalie, she will have a shit ton of scary masks
She’ll pop out at random moments and scare you, laughing her ass off
she doesn’t care how old she is
you guys are fucking going trick or treating
there’s literally no way to say no
you’re going
she doesn’t even dress up as anything scary or serious
she’ll dress up as some stupid shit like in the dinosaur costumes
jus for fun
she will def carve pumpkins with you
she’s not a good artist though, her pumpkins always end up wonky
but she’s cute so it’s ok
Van loves halloween so much and she’s glad her favorite person in the world is equally as passionate about it as she is.
you guys will be making out while watching a horror movie and she’ll break off the kiss to start rambling on about the movie
you’re just like ….
overall, Van loves halloween, and you guys will definitely be doing any festivities.
Decorating
Carving pumpkins
going to pumpkin patches
whatever
everything fr
Taissa Turner
Taissa doesn’t really care for halloween
like she doesn’t hate it but she doesn’t like it either
it’s just like
another day for her tbh
but if you’re into it, she’ll try and be supportive
she’s not scared easily
she’ll watch horror movies with a straight face
she jumps a little but that’s it
she likes some scary movies though so she’ll indulge with you.
she mostly likes laughing at the stupid characters and pointing out all the realistic flaws in the movie
Taissa will carve pumpkins with you, she’ll probably just do a basic jack-o-lantern though.
she’s probably gone trick or treating a few times
again, like Lottie, I don’t see her as a big chocolate person
she’d much rather just put out a bowl of candy and cuddle with you, watching scary movies.
she loves haunted houses though.
if you’re scared of them, she’ll laugh as you cling onto her while she barely even flinches
Not much to say abt Taissa tbh
she doesn’t hate halloween but she doesn’t like it either
not really a holiday person.
Shauna Shipman
Shauna likes halloween as much as a normal person does
She just loves fall
Snuggling up with you and making hot cocoa while reading a book
shes just a fall girlie
she loves the pumpkin spice drinks LMFAOOO
loves having matching costumes
Shauna has a sweet tooth def
so you guys will buy loads of candy if you don’t want to go trick or treating
you guys probably got a candy bowl to put outside and then last minute decided you guys wanted it instead 😭😭
Shauna will carve pumpkins with you because she thinks it’s pretty
she LOVE LOVE LOVES pumpkin patches
walking around and looking at all the fall decorations and events.
holding onto you because, atleast at the pumpkin patches i’ve gone to, the scare actors will walk around
Shauna likes horror movies but she’s still very afraid of them
clinging to you while she watches through peeked eyes
she’s definitely tried to scare you a few times but she’s bad at it
pops out too late
or you just don’t walk past the room she’s waiting in and she gets bored
she loves to decorate though
she thinks the animatronics are cool, she’ll just go to spirit to look at them
not even scared
just fascinated
her favorite halloween movie is halloweentown bye this is real if u don’t agree ur not correct
makes you watch every single halloweentown movie
multiple times
the whole month of October
Shauna likes to bake the little halloween cookies, or pumpkin pie or bread
Shauna just loves pumpkin, it’s definitely her favorite flavor.
overall, Shauna likes halloween, but she’s not too obsessed. But she would love to indulge in your obsession.
Misty Quigley
Misty understands!!!
Misty loves halloween too!!!
Misty never had friends growing up, so if you want to spend time with her doing halloween stuff she will LOVE it
she’ll carve pumpkins, decorate, visit stores, go to pumpkin patches with you
oh god, if you like to go trick or treating and you ask her to come
she will MELT
no one ever wanted to hang out with her growing up and no one ever asked her that.
“Are you…crying?” You ask, confused once you ask Misty to come trick or treating with you.
She isn’t very scared, but she will squeak and flinch a lot during movies or haunted houses.
or she’ll pretend to be scared..
so you can hold her close and cuddle her.. :))
Misty loves to bake, so she will want to bake little fall treats with you as well.
she likes haunted houses I think, she loves the adrenaline of it all
or like escape rooms
Misty lives for that adrenaline pumping shit.
Misty will want to have matching costumes
she honestly doesn’t even care what it is
she just likes to know someone likes her enough to match with her.
Misty gets kind of carried away though..
like if you just want to have a chill halloween and just hand out candy
Misty will probably try to teasingly scare children in like a playful way
it’s not playful
she probably ends up traumatizing these kids for life in some way
pretends to cut her hand off or something but it looks hyper realistic for some reason.
“Misty..you gotta stop doing that..” “What? I’m just having fun!”
Misty’s so innocent she doesn’t really realize that’s she’s well..
terrifying
Misty also definitely has a sweet tooth so if you guys don’t end up trick or treating
you will definitely end up with pounds of candy regardless
Misty would rather have a chill night in, snuggling and eating chocolate with you anyways.
overall, Misty is awesome and scary and she loves halloween jus as much as u do <33

only in dreams !
you gift shauna a flannel for her birthday. based on a hc from this post ҂ pure fluff; kissing, cuddling. . .﹙1.0k wc﹚
“if nat knew you were into weezer, she’d bully the shit out of you,” you playfully remarked, glancing down at your girlfriend and using your foot to gently rub her back. you were both lying on shauna's bed, with you on your back and your head propped up by pillows, while she was stretched out on her stomach, leaning over the end of the bed, searching for a movie for the two of you to watch.
“which is exactly why nobody’s gonna tell her, right?” she inquired in a menacing tone.
“right,” you readily answered, sporting a knowing grin.
weezer's 'only in dreams' was softly playing in the background as you patiently waited for your girlfriend to finally pick a movie. it had been twenty minutes since she began rummaging through her dvd collection. today marked her birthday, and you had spent most of the day celebrating with your group of friends. she wasn't one for big parties, so the evening had been a simple dinner outing. jackie had suggested hitting a bar afterward, but shauna had declined. all she wanted now was to be with you, cuddling in bed, and watching movies until you both drifted off to sleep—of course, she didn't disclose that to the group; she simply said she was tired. she wanted to avoid being teased by taissa or van.
"eyes wide shut?" she inquired, arching an eyebrow.
"nah, not in the mood," you replied with a slight grimace.
"what about 'd.e.b.s.'?" she suggested.
"i love it, but we've seen it too many times," you responded.
"how about 'before sunrise'?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.
"didn't jackie make you watch it last week? that and 'edward scissorhands'?" you inquired, and she nodded in agreement. "let's go for something neither of us has seen, or at least not in a while," you proposed, and she nodded.
"what about 'the faculty'? it came out a few months ago, and i've been meaning to watch it," she said.
"the one about aliens or something like that?" you asked curiously.
"yeah, that one," she confirmed, turning her gaze back to you and employing her characteristic puppy eyes—she knew what she was doing, and you could never resist her.
"of course, babe. it's your birthday, after all. we're watching whatever you want," you reassured her.
"yes!" she exclaimed in a whisper, clenching her fist and moving her arm downward excitedly with a smile. she turned around, jumped into your arms, gave you a sweet kiss on the lips, and then hopped off the bed to insert the dvd into the player.
as she did so, you also stood up from the bed and walked over to your bag. unzipping it, you retrieved a medium-sized box that had been tucked inside. returning to your spot on the bed, you patiently waited for her to finish setting up the movie.
once she was done, she rose from her knees and walked towards the bed, only to spot you holding a box that hadn't been there before.
"what's that?" she asked curiously as she sat in bed next to you. there was a glint of excitement in her eyes already, as she suspected it was a birthday present.
"open it," you encouraged, handing it over to her with a soft smile.
returning your smile, she gently took the box in her hands and gave it a little shake, trying to figure out what was inside before opening it. with no idea of its contents, she proceeded to untie the small bow securing it and slowly removed the lid, revealing a neatly folded dark red flannel.
her eyebrows shot up as she pulled it out of the box and held it in front of her to examine it. "wait, is this the flannel from the mall?"
"yeah, i noticed you kept staring at it and checking the price tag, so i took a picture of it without you noticing and went back to buy it the next day," you explained.
her eyes softened at your words, and her smile grew wider. she set the flannel aside and pulled you into a hug that caused both of you to tumble back onto the bed. "thank you so much, i love it," she said, breaking the hug and capturing your lips in a gentle kiss.
after the two of you separated to catch your breath, she grabbed the flannel and tore off the tag, placing it on the bedside table. then, she turned her attention back to you. "put it on," she commanded, handing it over.
you grabbed it, looking at her with a puzzled expression. she shyly clarified, "i want to wear it tomorrow when we go to jackie's house, but i want it to smell like you."
"awww," you cooed, biting your lower lip and playfully poking her side, making her blush.
"stop it," she said, grabbing your arm to halt your poking. "just put it on already," she added with an embarrassed smile.
"okay, okay," you replied, giving her a peck on her flushed cheek before focusing on unbuttoning the flannel and placing it over your pajamas. "how do i look?" you asked playfully, resting your hands on your hips and looking to the side with a smug expression.
"very hot," she quipped back, slowly pulling you closer by the collar of the flannel and giving you another kiss.
once the kiss ended, she gave you one last peck before reaching for the box and tossing it onto the floor. she began shifting to cover herself with the blankets, and you mimicked her movements, lying down as close to her as possible. she pulled the blankets over both of you and turned off the bedside lamp, leaving only the tv's glow in the room. as she pressed the play button, you intertwined your legs together, and you wrapped one of your arms around her waist, resting your head against her chest while she gently massaged your scalp. it didn't take long for the two of you to fall asleep in each other's arms.

AWW I LOVED THIS 😭😭
pls Please PLEASE!! give me more of our girl Shauna, she's so precious I swear🥹, I am going crazy over the fact that there's not enough Shauna fics over here, I love our brown sad doe-eyed girlfriend🥺
tied me to you
pairings. shauna shipman x reader
being childhood best friends to lovers with shauna is something so personal to me!
she’s so underrated when it comes to fics it hurts…i haven’t proof read this yet so sorry if there’s any mistakes!
-
you met shauna through your parents. they had all known each other since they were teenagers and just so happened to have children at the same time as one another, meaning that you’d been having play dates and gatherings with the shipman family for as long as you could remember.
the pair of you were both incredibly shy children around anyone else but each other. together, you were both completely comfortable and more outgoing. you even had a secret language that only you two knew, and you would talk in it for hours.
you had grown up doing absolutely everything together and were basically attached at the hip, growing another extension when mrs taylor started dropping jackie off to join you for play dates too.
shauna had always been far too nervous to do certain things on her own, so you always went along with her, or did it for her without hesitation. it was just natural to you, and as you got older it was the other way around.
you joined soccer together at the age of six, and were always eachother’s biggest supporters in games. you’d practically tackle eachother to the ground in hugs whenever either of you scored or did something good.
even in your teenage years, your dynamic barely altered, and your parents would always joke and say you’d be cute as a couple at their dinner parties, earning embarrassed groans and blushes from the two of you (who were in complete denial) before you stressed that you were just best friends.
your parents knew long before both of you did.
you went through it all together, whether you were laughing together in the best of times or crying together in absolute worst, she was your rock, and you, hers.
even though you both were insistent that you were just friends, you were constantly mistaken for a couple. even by jackie, who had grown up with you both, and most of the team had assumed that you were together when they met you both.
despite the constant clarifying that you weren’t together, as you both grew up and got bigger, so did your feelings for her, and you couldn’t help but think about all of the ‘what if’s’
casual displays of affection were suddenly not so casual anymore.
sharing a bed together when you were out of state for games, because “you’d always done it that way” suddenly made your heart beat ten times faster.
friendly looks turning into longing ones over time.
and before you knew it you started seeing her in a completely different light.
you kept quiet about your growing feelings for her because you were terrified that they were one sided, and that you didn’t want to ruin the lifelong bond that you shared. after all, you would rather be silently miserable than deal with the potential rejection that loomed.
whenever you said “i love you” to eachother, something you’d previously said a million times, your heart ached - because you knew she meant ‘just as a friend’
little did you know however, shauna felt the exact same way about you, and had for even longer than you did. she had always had a crush on you, a part of her always knew that, but she was far too nervous to ever tell you, just like you were.
she missed you (more than best friends probably should) whenever you weren’t around, even if it was simply just a class that you didn’t have together and she had literally seen you less than an hour ago.
she started to hold onto you for longer in hugs, squeezing you tighter, not wanting to let you go.
her journal became off limits to you, which it never had been before. she filled it with all of her feelings for you that she couldn’t quite say out loud, and she spent more time than ever writing in it.
shauna often found herself staring at you in awe, admiring your beauty - tracing over each of your details in her mind, whilst you thought she had just zoned out, which happened a lot also.
she was always nervous when you complimented her, scratching her neck and avoiding eye contact as her cheeks burned - something she had thought was normal having growing up feeling it, only realising when she received compliments from literally anybody else that it wasn’t.
she also found herself easily jealous over people who she knew you were just friends with.
you were both head over heels in love with eachother, and yet had no idea in the slightest that the other felt exactly the same.
after what felt like an eternity of stolen glances and pep talks with jackie, lottie and tai, who were sick of your shared obliviousness after this many years, shauna finally confessed to you in the year before you both moved to college (together, of course)
she had been so anxious, but both her mother and your own had assured her that she had nothing to worry about.
her confession was one of the most romantic things you’d ever experienced. she’d set up a picnic in her backyard, and had gifted you a stack of her journal pages, dating back years, and revealing all of the feelings she’d ever had for you.
“i have loved you all my life”
“it’s always been you”
she shyly spoke with a gentle smile adorning her face and pure love shining in her big brown eyes, wider than ever.
you just pressed your lips to hers, letting your actions do the talking as tears slipped down your cheeks.
after you started dating, you found out that both of your families AND the team had made several big bets about how long it would take for you to get together.
her mother won. deb shipman was never wrong.
you literally knew each other inside and out, and finally being able to show each other all of the love you had hidden away brought you even closer together, something you had never imagined.
you were so much happier and more free together.
she remembered everything little detail about you, even things from when you were kids. all the ways you like to be comforted, your favourite foods and the exact way you like them cooked, how you like to be held, and what you were thinking just by looking at you.
you once said that you loved flowers, when you were thirteen. it had always been a dream of yours to have someone give you them.
she now always buys you flowers, and keeps on top of when they need a refresh.
you eventually got the journal pages that she’d confessed to you with framed. she continued to write about you, and even for you. short little pieces, and even poems.
“i think something has always tied me to you”

Shinpads and kisses. ( ⚽️ )
lottieshauna week 2024 day 1: soccer ⚽️ 🥅 ( @lottieshaunaweek2024 )
pairing : lottieshauna , crushing shauna , bold lottie , district game , one shot , fluff , sloppy-ish kissing .
summary : a good luck charm even as a small gesture becomes the reason they win the game , and maybe that gesture blooms into opportunity . .
updated 11/12/24 : I added more to this fic due to it being too short , enjoy!
lottluvs , feel free to translate with credit . . open to criticism 🌱
a/n : two posts in one night wow ! on top of that it’s for lottieshauna week ! I love these two my skurnkiesskkgnsgng
“Hey Shauna, do you wanna swap a shinpad?”
Lottie Matthews and Shauna Shipman sat in the girls locker room at WHS, their school was hosting the district game this year, and it was about an hour before the girls would start practicing for their game.
“Swap a your sweaty shinpad for my sweaty shinpad?”
Lottie played defender, and Shauna played midfielder, two very different roles. One pushes the ball away from the goal by clearing it, the other carries it up for the forwards to push up and score.
“Yeah it’s like for good luck, and we wear the same sized shinpad so it shouldn’t hurt our performance, unless you’re irked out by sweat or something.”
Though they were never too close on the field unless playing full defense, there would always be something, some sort of tension between them, not negative tension, but some sort of longing. Lottie would sometimes get distracted looking at Shauna, and Shauna would sometimes be distracted by Lottie. Nonetheless, outside of the games and practices, they’d be seen having conversations off and on about soccer, who would be where for the next game, and what drama would come up.
“No actually, that sounds fun, here, let me grab it!”
As the girls left the locker room, Shauna and Lottie held pinkie fingers, despite the opposing team having crowd favorite, they knew no matter what, the game would be great.
“Tell you what Shauna, if we win this game, ill have a surprise for you.”
As the game hit the fourth quarter, the teams were tied 4-4, and the opposing team swapped their forwards, pushing an offensive threat, trying to score in due time. Lottie however, was fast enough to clear the ball that was passed… using Shauna’s shinpad to stop the ball, and similarly, when the ball cleared from Lottie in the air, Shauna used Lottie’s shinpad to stop the ball, running it up the sideline, not pushing offsides, and scoring, pulling the district win for the Yellowjackets.
As the team rushed to hug Shauna, she had her eyes set on one person, one person jogging over with her stupid quirky smile. Pushing through the girls, Shauna and Lottie connected arms faster than any ball had been scored on the field, the cheering echoing through the crowds was enough to tell them how well Shauna did, and they were both proud of one another, of the team, of the Yellowjackets.
“I’m so proud of you Shauna!!” Lottie shook Shauna in her arms.
“I’m proud of us.” She replied hugging her tighter.
And just like that, the girls were set for nationals.
~
Later on in the locker room, full of the echos of “good games,” and affirmations, Lottie and Shauna stood in front of one of the mirrors in the back, wiping their faces off and brushing their hair through enough to survive another hour until they got to shower. Shauna exchanging glances of anticipation to Lottie, who caught wind of her questioning demeanor. There was something about way Shaunas eyes lingered a little too long on the curve of Lotties shoulders, the way her damp hair clung to her neck. There was a sharpness to the way Shauna watched—like she was trying to commit every detail to memory, trying to pretend it didn’t matter.
But it did.
Every motion Lottie made seemed to be in slow motion. The easy way they slipped into their clothes, the casual flick of a towel over their shoulder—it all made something stir in Shauna, a warmth that had nothing to do with the heat of the room.
“Waiting for something?” Lottie murmured,
“You said you had a surprise for me.”
Lottie giggled at Shaunas words as she grabbed her by the wrist and gently pulled her toward the dim shower rooms, looking around to make sure no one was in their line of view, then pulled a curtain blocking them from the rest of the world.
“Lottie? Is there something you need to tell me?” Shauna chuckled, unable to read the expression on the dark haired girl in front of her.
“Shauna..” Lottie pushed her into the wall, back gently settling into the tiles. Raising a hand to graze her cheek, the left hand homing itself on Shauna’s hip. Her face drawing itself in slowly. As Shauna was about to give in, something stopped her.
“Wait— there’s something I need to tell you first.” She squeaked, placing a hand on Lottie’s chest. “Lottie- I don’t know how to say this, but-“
Shauna’s words faltered, her breath catching in her throat as she looked at Lottie’s face, her heart pounding too loudly in her ears. She felt an inexplicable pressure building between them, an undeniable force pulling her closer, like the space between them was shrinking with each passing second.
Lottie’s gaze softened, a faint smile playing at the corners of her lips, but there was something unreadable in her eyes—curiosity, anticipation, maybe a little concern. Shauna felt her hands trembling, but she couldn’t look away.Shauna took a shaky breath, trying to steady herself. “ I think I might—” She swallowed hard, suddenly too aware of how close they were, of how the air seemed thick with everything left unsaid.
Lottie tilted her head slightly, her eyes searching Shauna’s face, her lips parting as if to say something. The air between them felt heavier now, charged with an almost tangible pull. Lottie's body was inches from Shauna's, her chest rising and falling with shallow breaths, the heat of her skin almost burning through the thin fabric of her shirt. She could feel the soft brush of Lottie's breath on her face, the faintest scent of shampoo and the lingering warmth of the room making her head spin.
Her lips parted, barely an inch from the taller girl, as if the words she wanted to say were caught in her throat, or maybe she was just waiting for Lottie to speak first. Her eyes flickered between Shauna's lips and her eyes, an unspoken need in the way she held Shauna's gaze, as though she was silently pleading for something more. The longer Shauna stayed still, the more Lottie seemed to lean in, her body inching closer with every breath, drawn by some magnetic force neither of them could deny. The space between them was narrowing, the air electric, and Shauna knew, without a doubt, that Lottie was waiting for her to close that final gap.
“I think I love you.” Shauna whispered, her voice barely audible but full of the weight of everything she hadn’t said until now.
“I’ve been waiting so long for you to say that..” She chuckled, finally closing the gap, lips crashing and fitting like a glove. The kiss was slow at first, tentative, as if both were testing the waters. But as the heat between them grew, something shifted, an unspoken surrender. The kiss deepened, a quiet urgency threading through their movements, and the world around them seemed to fall away, until all that existed was the soft pressure of lips and the electric pull of each other's presence. Time itself felt suspended, the rhythm of their breaths merging into something that felt like an unspoken promise. It was as though they were no longer two separate people, but one shared heartbeat, synchronized in a moment that stretched into longing, faster, hands travelled, and noises broke barriers, and just as Lottie pulled away, Shauna whined.
“I love you too Shauna, I’m so glad you feel the same.” She panted, saliva around her mouth.
The two smiled, placing their foreheads together. Lotties hands still on Shaunas hips.
“Maybe that shinpad really was good luck.”

Notes: I want to apologize for my hiatus, but it was for good reason. I needed to care for my father, who got very sick around September last year when I was going to write the 4th chapter, and he has since been better. Sadly, I lost my motivation, but I have detailed notes for the following 8 chapters, and I will be trying to finish seasons 1 and two of the story as soon as I can before the third season airs! This year, for NANOWRIMO, I have decided to write for this story and see how far I can go within the next month or two. Thank you to everyone who was so kind and understanding about my disappearance and still loves my story!
“(Y/n), what the fuck is a ratio?” Jackie whispers to you loud enough for Shauna to hear beside you in a lull in math class. Mrs. Goldberg had to leave the class for some reason, you don’t remember why. You smile over at Jackie with her lovely brown eyes and take a good look at her. She’s as beautiful as you remember.
You chuckle as you look into your notes and say, “From what Mrs. Goldmen wrote, an ordered pair of numbers a and b, written a / b where b does not equal 0.” You read from your notes as Shauna and Jackie looked blankly up at you from the obtuse definition. You laugh with them, “Whatever the fuck that means!”
Jackie and Shauna laugh with you, but Jackie groans in frustration at the last question.
Taissa, behind you, leans forward and smiles, “What’s wrong?”
Jackie turns dramatically to Taissa as she pulls her paper over to Taissa; she just wants the answer now. You look at Jackie moving around as Van pulls your attention with a hand on your shoulder.
“Hey, (y/n), can you help me with the first question? Jackie stole my answer key.” She joked as you turned to help her.
You giggle at her joke as you look down at the paper.
It was blank.
There weren’t even questions printed onto the page like you thought. You looked at your paper again, flipping it around but finding that it had nothing written on it either. It didn’t have the answers you thought you were writing on it.
You furrow your brows as you look up to Van, but the redhead isn’t there. Neither were the others. A chill runs down your spine as you start to remember.
The door of your old math teacher's class slams open, causing you to squeal and jump from your desk. That then was the only desk in the room. It was as if when your eyes looked away from something, it disappeared.
Mrs. Goldmen looks at you with a sad, sympathetic smile as she leads you to the hallway; you don’t have any control at the moment as your legs walk you down the hallway with her. Mrs. Goldmen's hand is on your shoulder as she says words that have been etched into the gray matter of your brain. “Honey, your mother has gone to the hospital, and your father is here to pick you up.”
You remember this. This was the day your mother’s health got so much worse. The day you became her caretaker.
Fat tears run down your eyes as you walk to the office door. Mrs. Goldman disappears when her hand leaves your shoulder. You look around for her; the hallways of your old high school are empty, and liminal darkness creeps in the corners of the walls. You felt an urge to go into the office.
You held the cold handle and turned the knob to the left to open the office door.
It wasn’t right.
You are met with the darkness of the woods, which has claimed you as its own. You turn, and the hallways no longer protect you from the cold forest. You scream as you are surrounded by woods again; the door stands alone with its hinges.
You feel the ripe cold air coming up your legs and arms; you hug yourself.
Howls from the trees start to chant above you. Every corner was a howl from a freakish, unnatural octave, and you started to feel the snow melt under your toes and the nip of the winter bite at the skin of your arms. Unbearable and cutting is how it felt—hunger in the air.
You look down at yourself and see something that drops your heart.
The gold heart necklace from Jackie’s Sweet 16.
You don’t think before you run. You run straight and away from trees as the howls follow you. Helpless as sticks and bushes stopped you as you rushed through the 4ft of snow.
You sob and run, knowing you are coming to an end. You are going to die. You should just stay still and watch with open eyes as they slice your throat, shoot you with an arrow, or stab you with a spear. So why would you run?
But you ran anyway.
Raw, cold toes feel the crunching of the snow. Twigs tickle between your toes and scratch when you lift your feet.
You don’t hear anything anymore. You are in the heart of the woods; the tree watches you as you finally fall onto a mound of snow. Nothing makes any sense. You cry and feel yourself shake with adrenaline; you need to keep going.
A chanting comes to your ears. You freeze in the moment; you hear yourself.
You crawl towards the song, French humming and chanting from a distance.
Over the hill, you see yourself dressed in your old headdress, the pink stain furs of a white rabbit made into a cloak with the head of a doe adorn on the top. You circle the campfire that cooks the meat; the others dressed in their cloaks watch with stabbing eyes.
The queen in the center watches a younger you dance around the fire. The Antler queen nods her head and looks around the circle.
You watch yourself take a satisfying bite of the fatty meat from the pan that cooked the chunks. The others immediately rush to the pan and take their share of the meat. The grease shines on your satisfied smirk on the younger self, bubbling in your stomach. “Wake up, " you blurt out to yourself in a panic.
You gag as your eyes fill with tears.
No.
No. You don’t want to remember this.
This wasn’t even the worst of it.
Stop.
Wake up (y/n) wake up wake up wake up wake up-
‘21
You wake up violently from your dream. You feel yourself lean harder onto the surface you were on and feel a darting pain from a rod in your neck. You gasp as you look around, realizing you weren’t in your house again.
The tree whispers to you again. You know it.
You stand in the wooded area behind your home. It was always comforting to hide in the trees and smell the sun's sweet earth, playing pirates or whispering about boys you never liked with Shauna and Jackie. This was your hideout as a child. You played fox and hounds and painted nails as you watched the sunset. You hate it now. It screams at you, and it itches your skin to be surrounded again; you need a little distance. Your breath is short again.
Your hands cling to the tree behind you, and you feel something in your hand: your pocket knife. You turn around to look at what you have done again. You stare back at the symbol. Even when you dream, you seem to find a way to protect yourself, even a little bit.
You put the knife in your nightgown pocket. And you backed away. Slowly accepting the fact that this is something you will never stop doing, no matter the pills, sleep therapy, or drinking, can make you stop sleepwalking to the trees when you think about them. It follows closely behind, no matter the distance.
Fucking Shauna.
When you went to her house last night, you weren’t planning on sleeping with her. Or Jeff.
You were sitting at her island drinking coffee like you usually do. Ever since you returned from New York to Wiskayok, you reconnected with Shauna because of the brunches with Jackie's parents. You have been coming over for coffee to talk about your lives like regular people. It was refreshing to look at Shauna and see an adult woman instead of the girl you grew up with and survived with. Not seeing Shauna was especially hard after coming home from the wilderness because you were the closest to her before the crash, even before you knew who you were. You still don’t know who you are without her in some ways.
You both talk about the upcoming brunch, how you'll get a rabbit as a present, and how Jackie’s parents will talk down to you like they always do. But as the conversation continues, Shauna confesses that she and Jeff are in a deep dry spell. They haven’t touched each other in a long time, and how Shauna has not been touched in a long time. Then, without even thinking about it, you two start kissing each other.
Then, something instinctually comes over you as you kiss and touch each other. You didn’t even notice when Jeff got there, but the planned 40-minute coffee became hours of love-making. You have made love with Shauna and Jeff before, and this wasn’t anything short of the other times you were with the married couple.
But as soon as the passion ended, you left. You felt satisfied and a little weird from your desperation with Shauna. You got dressed and kissed both of them goodbye. You remember feeling so grateful Callie was sleeping over at her friend's house.
When you drove home, all you thought about was your day with Misty and Natalie, Travis killing himself, and making love with Shauna. It was a blast from the past. As you entered your driveway, an intrusive thought came to mind: the image of a pan over an open fire frying chunks of meat.
You shouldn’t have gone to bed thinking about the past. This only happens when the team creeps into your space; they always do that if you give them a chance.
You thought grumpily as you walked back to your backdoor. Your cat, Ginger, rubs on your legs when you get into your backyard. Your nightgown has mud at the ends, and your feet are dirty; your toenails have dirt under them.
A black van passes by as you walk into your home. It hisses in the wind as it drives by. You look at it, worried someone will see the dirt on your nightgown and think you are some senile old woman.
You get back into your home and sigh. Rubbing the ache in the back of your neck, you start a pot of coffee for yourself before you start your day. You needed a moment for yourself before you had to act all day, masking all your quirks and characteristics to seem normal.
“You don’t think people can notice you’re a little crazy, right?”
You froze as you put your cup of coffee on the counter. You know that voice.
“I mean, I love you for how crazy you are, but you have been losing it a lot lately.” Jackie’s voice says behind you. She always stands in her yellowjacket uniform with curled hair; she looks precisely how she should be remembered. “Don’t want you to bite someone on accident.”
“I’ll try not to, Jackie. But you never know; someone might not know not to put their hand so close to my mouth.” You say back at her. You feel your eyes well; she was always so sad to remember even more when you see her. Her phantom has been long accepted and dreaded, but something that no one could stop. You didn’t know if you even would want her spirit to leave you.
“Well, you should comb your hair and take a bath. You look like death… smell like it too,” Jackie says, and as if she was never there, she was gone.
You sigh and rub your eyes. You turn back for your coffee and pour sugar inside of it, “It’s too early for this shit.” You mutter to yourself. You can’t get angry at this. It’s your best hallucination, and you couldn’t get mad with Jackie, never with her. You got to leave, but Jackie never got to the chance to live out of the cedar and butterfly weeds.

“Lottie, I know it is… fucking weird as shit. But we can’t pass up a house in the woods, okay? I didn’t see any books wrapped in human skin.” You say softly to Lottie as everyone finishes their breakfast of berries and gossip. You rub the stinging at the back of your neck that can’t go away.
“I know, but it just doesn’t feel right being in the same house as a dead body,” Lottie says back.
“Well, maybe we can make something for the house to ease, you know, the energies.”
“Like charms?”
“Maybe? I have never dealt with this situation, but I trust you can settle the energies here. You are so good at being a peacekeeper.” You say to her and put your hand on her shoulder; you take it off quickly because you still don’t know where you stand with her after last night's kiss. Because you know if the others were to look at you and check if you were gay, you would be quickly exposed.
“Thank you, (Y/n)...” She says, looking down at her shoes.”Are we okay? I didn’t mean to make things weird. I don’t even know what I was thinking.”
You smile, hiding the hurt, and quickly say, “Oh, my god, yeah, we are, Lottie. I get it. We have been through a lot, and we just wanted some comfort. It’s not a big deal.”
Lottie chuckles out of relief and pats your arm; she nods. “Okay, good; I didn’t want anything to be weird.”
“No, nothing is weird, Lottie.” You reassure her as you move yourself away. You want to peel your skin off, and a sudden loneliness surrounds you.
The morning moves on quickly. Travis sits on the porch with a gun, and you just stare at him as you walk to the campfire in front of the cabin with the angler's box and pole.
“Okay, everyone! We need to talk plans!” You announce in your loudest voice. Everyone circles the fire and the porch to listen to you; every morning since the crash, you have made an effort to set goals for the day and get through the days until rescue. “Okay, so we’ve been in these woods for ten days. We are low on food but shouldn’t worry too much longer. We now have a fishing line and a working pole with the help of Lottie and Shauna,” You say as you smile at the two. The others do the same, giving little thanks to the two blushing girls. “So, we’re not hopeless right now; anyone who wants to learn how to fish can come with me and see if you want to do that. But does anyone know how to use the rifle?” You ask the group and consider your list of things to speak about today.
Couch Ben clears his throat and says, “I went hunting with family before, so I can teach people who want to.”
You nod your head at him and say, “Okay! Everyone should try it out to see who is the best with a gun. We’ve been out here for a little bit, and I am sure we will have to take care of ourselves until they get here-”
Jackie interrupts, “So, we shouldn’t worry about the food because they must be close by now?”
You look over at her; you know why she is talking. She doesn’t want a job, and she doesn’t want to worry about getting saved. But it has been 11 days since the crash; you don’t want to kill hope.
“Well, kind of. We should be prepared if it takes them a few more weeks to find us in these woods. Jackie, we’re in the thick of it right now, so it would be better if we all tried to use the gun and see if we can hunt-”
“Well, are you going to try out the gun?” She asked you with crossed arms and a well-known tone of annoyance.
You suck your teeth and tilt your head to her, “No, I am going out fishing. I know I am good at it, so I will do that. You can try to see if you are good at hunting. It’s just a tryout.” To end this small conversation, you say, “Okay, so the goal for today is to find some food and learn some skills tonight. Mari, Laura, and Krystal have already volunteered to clean and do the projects we have started at the cabin, alright? Anything else?”.
No one else had anything to say. You nod as you hold up the fisher pole and say, “I am going to the beach to fish and make a little project. if anyone wants to come with me, you will find me.” You say this as you see that no one will move to fish with you for some reason. You nod and start heading out of the campsite and walking down Natalie's trail to the lake. A few nights ago, Natalie took the time to crave a path to the beach and plane with small crosses on the trees. She wanted everyone to be able to tell where they were in the woods without getting lost.
The days have gone by quickly lately since you all have found the cabin, and it's been getting to you a little bit. You didn't like the feeling of being able to find your way around the woods, even though it was convenient. It still would never replace your home. You missed home, and you can't tell anyone else about it.
As you walk down the trail deep in thought, the sun hits your eyes through the leaves, it reminds you of your backyard. It’s precisely like where your tree house stands just outside your home, where you can look out the window and see your mother washing dishes. God, you missed your mom. And as of an hour ago, she should have taken her morning medicine and had her legs messaged because she can’t walk around too much. You feel your throat tighten, and your body has a wave of emotional nausea.
“Hey, Wait up!” Shauna called from behind you on the trail.
You stop and smile at her, “Hey, Shauna. You coming with me?” you ask.
“Yeah, I don’t want to touch the gun. I don’t want to kill anything.”
“I get it. I hate fish, so I like killing them.” You joke to her with the best deadpan voice you can muster.
Shauna chuckles and shakes her head softly, “You’re a freak, you know that?”
“Oh yeah? You’re not going to say that when I get a fish.” You cackled. “You can just journal if you want; I am just going to make you help me make a lazy fisherman.”
“What’s that?”
“It’s a heavy stick supported with rocks with a hook and line attached. It just catches fish without anyone doing anything. You just raise the line, and hopefully, a fish is hooked.”
“We have hooks? What was in that box?”
“Not a lot, but it had a bait hook and a lure for the pole. It had some rusty hooks and oil for the pole. I made some hooks from the pop things on top of the cans.”
“The tab?”
“Yeah, I kinda cut them and made them like hooks. I’m thinking about making a net while we’re here.”
“You think we’ll be here long enough for that?”
“I don’t know; all I know is I will go crazy if I sit still too much. I overthink, you know.” You confess to Shauna as you come across a wide river a little off the trail from the lake. You and Shauna make some marks on the trees to make a path back to the trail.
After a while, the two of you settle up after making a lazy fisherman. It was easy to be around Shauna. You’ve been sandbox friends, and that kind of love never dies. You mainly talked about school and the annoying people you knew, like Randy. The biggest meathead you’ve ever met.
“Randy smells like Salmi and is cold to the touch but also is very hot when you stand near him.” You say to Shauna as you cast a line with a little bug at the end. You sit on the river's edge with Shauna sitting against a tree.
Shauna laughs out loud as she hugs her journal to her chest. And you keep going on your rant.
“Honestly, girl, If I ever hear him say the words Faggot or Dyke again, to Misty or Kevin or whoever. I’ll write a story about him eating Jeff’s ass and finally getting to feel Jeff’s sweet touch. Because you can’t tell me he isn’t in love with that guy.” You say with a laugh in your tone as you can’t talk straight. It’s ridiculous, but it was so funny to both of you. Shauna is snorting like a pig next to you, making you fall on your back, laughing.
“What the fuck?!”
“He thinks about gay people too much to not be gay!” You laugh louder. Both of you laugh until your sides hurt. It felt nice just to be girls for a moment in the woods, and you pretend you were at the back of your house with Shauna.
It lulls for a moment before Shauna asks, “Randy called Misty a dyke?”
“Yeah. At the Spring Fling.” You said with a little bit of sadness going through. You felt so bad for Misty in moments like that. “I remember when me, you, and Jackie got there after getting ready seeing Misty-”
“In that big puffy pink dress,” Shauna says, pointing a finger at you. She remembers, and she smirks a little. At the time, unfortunately, you laughed at her dress for being out of date and seemed to be “trying too hard.”
“Yeah… But Misty was just there and- I mean, I am not going to say Misty is cool or that she isn’t weird. Sometimes, I don’t know if she isn’t an alien, but she isn’t mean or disgusting.” You say as you gently rile in the line. You feel yourself frown a little bit. “She was standing in the corner without a date and any friends, and Randy just comes up to her and calls her an ugly dyke.” You say a little quieter.
“Oh my god, that is so horrible; why didn’t you tell me the 411?”
“I mean, I only knew because she cried when I went into the bathroom. I was a shoulder to cry on; I didn’t want to make it a thing if Misty didn’t want to. I wish I could have done something. Fuck Randy.”
“Fuck Randy!” Shauna agreed. Shauna looks at you fish peacefully as the sound of gunshots rings in the distance. You look over to her and think about the next thing to discuss.
“So, Jackie is mad at me, isn’t she? Jackie learning how to shoot a gun?” You ask her, point her to talk to you about Jackie. You love Jackie deeply, but she usually causes drama within the trio.
“Yeah, she is being a bitch lately.”
“Yeah, I think she has the worst attitude out of everyone, but I can’t be upset that she is trying to come to terms with the crash.”
“Okay, but she doesn’t have to fight everything you ask her to do. You’re just trying to help everyone.”
“Thank you. And yeah, I hope she will stop fighting me every step of the way, but we just don’t know how long we’ll be out here, so I just don’t think we should be so argumentative…” You sigh and look at her with wary eyes, “I’ll talk to her. Like I always do. It’ll be okay. We love each other. No fucking gun will get in the way.”
“You’re right. It’ll be okay. We must be here for each other before we’re rescued.”
“You're right.” You say as you keep watching your line in the water. Praying for a fish to take a bite

You smile as your father laughs at the TV. You rub your hands to apply lotion to his shaking ones. You and he were watching “I Love Lucy” because it was his favorite childhood show.
He doesn’t have fully solid days constantly anymore, and it's the reason you have him in the nursing home. Somedays, he was just like you when you returned from the wilderness. He wouldn’t eat or do anything but watch TV. He would sit in his chair and watch TV; when it was off, he didn’t know where he was anymore. One day, he forgot where the bathroom was in the home he had lived in for 45 years, and he wet himself before you found him in the living room looking in the china cabinet, thinking it was the bathroom. But other days, he was as sharp as nails, playing chess and talking about things from the 70s like it was yesterday.
You felt your heart drop to your stomach when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and early-set dementia, but you were calm. You were now an adult with savings and a career, and you had the means to care for him now. To repay him for him nursing you after you came back.
You remember the nights he would pet your hair back after you vomited from episodes of PTSD. How he would sit in your bedroom holding you in his lap with tears in his eyes, listening to you scream in his chest. He just sat there with you and let you sob; no words were needed. He just stood there and let you cling like a little girl again. He let you yell at him and berate him as if he were the wilderness himself because he knew you weren’t yelling at him. He knew when to push you forward and when you needed to be held.
He helped you through the 5 years of healing after you were found. You had a total of 3 surgeries to make your brain's blood vessels normal again. You had to wear a splint on your neck for 1 year. You had to have countless MRIs throughout your life. Countless painful nights as your neck stabbed at you and caused you to feel no comfort. Your dad was always there with you, sitting beside you at every doctor's appointment and every event. He would only sit outside the waiting room for your therapy sessions.
Your father looks at you with (e/c) eyes and a soft smile, “I’m so happy to see you, peanut. How is your job?”
“Well, I'm still stuck around the last few chapters of my trilogy, Trying to fight my publisher for more time," you say as you let his shaking hand down and go to his other to lotion them. They were callous and dry. Your father's hard work was shown in his battered hands, which shivered. “You took a shower already?”
“Yeah, I wanted to look nice for you.” He rasps with a chuckle, his wrinkled face still holding his cheeky smile. He had the same soul as he always had, and moments like these make you think of happy memories of being in the woods with him and your mom.
“Oh, thank you, dad! I was going to say it didn’t smell like a caveman in here.” You chuckle back with him as you finish rubbing the lotion on his other hand.
“Oh, hush, you!” He slowly pokes your side and cheek, holding a smile.
“No.” You giggle back at him as you stand up, your hands moving to comb his hair. “Have the nurses been kind to you?”
“Sweethearts. Kirsta, the night shift nurse, is very kind. She comes in here when I sleep and never has a bad attitude.” He said as he leisurely scratches his nose, “Don’t hate the food.”
“Well, that's good, Dad.” You say as you look down at him. He looked clean and comfortable in his recliner. “I should get going. I need to get a few words down before I go to bed.”
“Alright, Peanut.” He says and takes you in. He grabs your hand gingerly and says, “I love you. Be safe. Text me when you get home.”
You chuckle and nod your head. You find it adorable that your father still wants you to tell him whenever you leave him. Even when you lived with him at your grown age, he wanted to know you were safe. “Of course, Dad! Don’t worry.”
“You better, " he says as he points at you with a shaking finger. He was so cute to you at that moment. You just laugh and nod your head to him. “I will!” you state back with a big smile.
You leave his room and start walking down the hallway of the nursing home. Walking down the halls, you can hear the other residents talking and watching TV.
You hear a ping on your phone and see Shauna texting you again. You sigh as you click on the notification.
Shauna Okay so I did something bad. You Like what? Did you rear-end someone again? Shauna No Shauna Dinner You Omg you went to the dinner? What happened? Shauna Jeff is cheating Shauna Jeff is cheating on me, and he isn’t trying to fix some fucking data system. I am just so done. Shauna So I went to dinner. Shauna And I stayed for dessert. You Omg you didn’t Shauna Yep, and I am going to see him again tonight. You Shit Shauna! You I mean, get your lick back but don’t go too far.
As you approached the front of the nursing home, which had a large circle desk for the nurses, you turned on the curve and accidentally tripped over another woman.
You look at the woman with a smile, which drops for a second because you know her. It was Misty. You didn’t realize she worked here, where your father is, but you quickly perk your lips up again.
“Oh my god, Misty!”
“(Y/n)! What are you doing here?”
“Oh, well. My dad has been here for a while, and I am here to visit! I didn’t know we were going to meet again so soon.”
“I was picking up my Tupperware, which I left yesterday.” She shows you her red-top Tupperware in her oversized purse. “I was going to ask you if you wanted to have Chocolate Martinis at Antonio’s; they are outstanding.”
You didn’t want to. You have been seeing the team too much again, and you had sex with Shauna last night. You become increasingly like how you used to be when you get around these women.
“Sure! You wanna pick me up from my house?” You blurt without a second to stop yourself. You wanted to kick yourself, but you couldn’t stop it.
“Great!” Misty beams with a big smile as you both leave the nursing home. “I’ll tell you about the Travis situation, " she adds as she walks beside you.

You and Shauna sat beside the riverbank for a long time, talking about everything and nothing. It didn’t feel like you were doing anything as you and she gossiped about the others in the wilderness. It was relaxing and pleasing. You kept looking down to your now two fishing lines for any signs of fish. The sounds of gunfire going off in the distance, in an odd way, were comforting because you knew where everyone else was while being far away.
While waiting for the fish, you started talking about school and dances- anything to keep your mind busy.
“So, after my mom curled my hair and did my makeup, she left me to get my dress on. You remember the one purple one with the ruffles.”
“Sophmore year homecoming, right?” Shauna asks as she points to you, trying to remember.
“Yeah, that one. I don’t know if I have ever told you, but the zipper popped open when I put on the dress.” You said with a smile hurting your cheeks as you laughed loudly from your gut at your story. It used to make you cry thinking about that time, but now it is funny. Shauna bubbled in laughter beside you as you continued, “She was yelling at me, crying and sobbing, that I was going to that dance whether I liked it or not. She just started sewing me into the dress.”
“No fucking way your mom sewed you into a dress!” Shauna laughed with you as she grabbed your arm. Her eyes water with tears as she laughs with you.
“No, she did! It was the last time I ever got anything from Macy’s.” You giggle as you glance back to the fishing line one more time.
Shauna began to chuckle softly, her eyes crinkling slightly as she listened to your story. It made her miss everyday life before the crash. "God, homecoming. I wish we were back there instead of this," Shauna motioned to the wilderness around us with a sigh.
"Yeah, same. I would much rather be crying about being fat over this any day." You sign as you lean on Shauna’s shoulder. You try to keep the good vibes that were made, so you smile and nudge her, "But, hey, we have each other, and people are looking for us. They have to be."
Shauna smiled softly as you moved closer to her. She smiled at you, but inside, she wasn't sure if she believed you'd be found. But she didn't want to worry you. "Yeah, of course. Maybe we're already on the news," she added, attempting to sound optimistic.
"Oh yeah, I don't know how people haven't heard about us,” You said quickly after she finished because you believed you were headline news. “ All our families must be doing everything to find us, and they would have known as soon as the plane didn't land." You added a lump in your throat growing as you said families. You thought about your family's reaction and everyone’s family’s reaction to them being missing. You couldn't imagine the fear and worry they must be experiencing, not knowing where you all were. But you tried hard to push those thoughts to the back of your mind, needing to remain strong.
"I'm sure they're out there looking for us. They'll find us," she said, mostly trying to persuade herself and you.
"They will, and all we have to do is wait until they do." You nudge her again and smile, saying, “Besides, we have good company.”
As you move your head back, you see the lure dramatically dunking into the water. You quickly grab your pole and start to reel in the fish. As ywou start to move, you can feel how heavy the fish is on the other end.
“Whoa, oh my god, did you catch a fish?” Shauna asks in excitement as she sits up on her knees beside you and looks at the water.
“Trying to!” You say back as you keep reeling in the fish.
Suddenly, after struggling with the reel a little bit, you pull up two fish on one hook. You squeal in happiness as you quickly grab the two fish with pride. Shauna squeals with you as you hold the two big fish.
You and Shauna hug each other happily as you hold the pole up, “Holy shit! Holy shit Shauna!”
“They are fucking huge!” Shauna gushed as she grabbed one of the fish and immediately cringed at the feeling of the fish’s slimy-scaled skin. “Gross”
“I know, right? Come on, let's get this back to the cabin before we get some more,” you say with a big smile. You feel relieved. You all will eat tonight and be full tonight. Your dad would be very proud of you.
You walk back to the cabin in triumph as you laugh and talk with Shauna all the way up the trail. Before too long, you arrive at the cabin, and everyone starts to finish off firing the gun.
Van's face brightens like a light bulb as she sees you two walk to the cabin with dinner: “Whoa! Look at you!”
Everyone’s attention turns to you, and they cheer for you both on for the find.
“You got a fish!” Jackie squealed as she sat up from her seat on the cabin steps. Mari came over and grabbed the fish with a big smile, holding the fish from the mouth with her finger. “No, they caught two fish!” Mari said back, she looked into its lifeless eye.
“I didn’t do anything.” Shauna chuckled as you shook your head, wanting to share the praise with her.
You roll your eyes and look back to Mari. You notice behind Mari that Natalie is looking at you with a serious face that you can’t place in your mind. You couldn’t tell if Natalie was angry, happy, or disgusted by the fish.
“Yeah, the pole still works, thank god.” You chuckle as you put the pole on the wood seat you all have made around the fireplace. You add, “I think it’s a good sign we got two fish. Maybe it’s the woods telling us we’ll be okay until we’re found.”
You look up to the group, and your eyes meet Lottie’s as if you were saying, “See, told you so” with your eyes. She warily smiles at you and looks down as you silently converse with just the context from earlier.
“You are you trying to sound like Miss Cleo? Wanna read my future?” Jackie jokes and snickers at your comments, dismissing them as stupid. You chuckle and shake your head, “No, Jackie, I’m being hopeful! I can overread a thing or two.” You say as you push her shoulder; she looks at you and chuckles.
You and Mari let the fish rest on the cabin table before you descaled them for dinner tonight. There was more than enough for everyone to eat, and it made you feel so proud to be able to provide dinner for everyone. And because you were going to wait anyway, you both put a bowl on top of the fish to keep it fresh until you return from everyone testing out shooting on cans.
You didn’t care much for the gun or the loud noise of it going off, it unsettled you deeply. It made you feel uncomfortable and cringe at the ringing in your ears.
Lottie and Van placed the old cans on a log infront of the group, quickly retreating into the brush of the woods. With your arms crossed, you lean against a tree, waiting for everyone to finish practicing there.
“Team, this is how this will go down—one final round for all the marbles. You got five targets, five shots each. Mari, can you start us off?’
“Um, just a thought. Shouldn’t we be saving bullets, you know?” Laura Lee added with concern in her voice.
“Uh, yeah, in theory, but lucky for us, the nutjob who lived here before was apparently hoarding for the apocalypse.” Couch Ben reassured as best he could. You could tell he didn’t want to be here, but he was putting up as much of a front as he could.
Mari fires a shot at the cans. You quickly cover your ears as you cringe at the boom. She missed the can, and you recoil before she goes again.
“The cans,” Travis mocks as he looks at her with narrowed, judgemental eyes. You couldn’t stand him in any way lately. His mere voice made you wish it was a gunshot. “You’re-You’re aiming for the cans.”
“Shut up,” Mari snapped at him as she cocks the gun, still holding it to the cans.
“Do you like being this way?” Natalie says to Travis, her eyes slowly rolling to him in annoyance. Waiting for the gunshot, you haven’t moved your hands from your ears.
“If you shit the bed again, you gonna ask for another do-over?”
Natalie shakes her head at him quietly as you glare at him. You just want him to shut up with his edgy and macho persona so everyone can get on with this stupid practice. You added, “You don’t ask for a do-over, you just clean your fucking bed, we are shooting cans, idiot.”
Your hands aren’t as firmly over your ears as Mari fires again. You flinch again as you cover them. Your eyes locked in a broad expression as you looked at the cans; the startling way the sound ripped through you, made you freeze like a deer in the woods, hoping the bullet wasn’t for them.
And she fires again quickly, this time hitting a can. You smile and nod at her, keeping your hands over your ears. You now see the eyes on you as you react to the sounds. You feel a blush over your body as embarrassment comes over you, but you can’t bring yourself to pull your hands down. “Hey. All right.” Couch Ben says calmly but clearly happy she finally hit a can. “Good job, Mari.” Everyone slowly claps for her. She smiles, and as she walks back to Akilah, she thrusts the Gun into Travis’s hands.
Travis immediately starts preparing to shoot at the cans, and he hits four cans until he misses his first.
“So close, flex.” Natalie teased him from behind. You looked at her with a snicker at her comment.
Suddenly, Travis turns around with the gun ready in his hand, and he aims it at Natalie’s face. “Don’t fucking call me that!”
“Whoa!” You gasp as you step closer to Natalie out of instinct to protect your friend, your eyes as wide as saucers.
“Travis! Put the gun down.” Couch Ben shouts demands at him, His eyes wide with panic because he can’t stand and take it away from him.
You don’t even think as you yell, “Put the fucking gun down, Travis! What the fuck are you doing?”
He then turns around and shoots at the cans after an intense silence. You cringe again at the sound of his gun.
“All right, that’s, uh-yeah, that’s good shooting, Martinez. Don’t ever do that again.” Couch Ben says awkwardly as everyone quietly watches on with tension in their shoulders. You felt yourself seething with anger bubbling in your stomach.
“Don’t choke. Again.” He says to Natalie with an antagonistic glare.
He then backs away and stands near you. You look at him with disgust as you spit at his feet, “Stand away from me, asshole.” You hiss at him.
He looks at you in surprise that you are still so angry at him that you just keep your mean mug on him, and he steps away. He was surprised at your sudden outburst, as did everyone behind you because you were known for being overly friendly, but you ensured he knew not to be near you.
You look at Natalie and nod, “You got this, girl.” you say. You cover your ears quickly before she does anything else.
Natalie looks at Travis with the same intensity as you and takes a smooth, deep breath. She then puts the gun to her shoulder and hits each can without hesitation. One by One, they drop to the forest floor. She then smiles slowly as she finishes. Everyone cheers and applauds her for showing Travis up.
You snicker as you look at her. Natalie moves her head towards you first. Meeting your eyes with happy eyes and a big smile, she looks at you quickly over and looks away to the other. You blush quickly, trying not to overthink about her looking for your approval first and your praise, and you don’t think much about her looking you over. She sure wasn’t checking you out.
After the gun practice, everyone searched for berries and mushrooms in the woods. Travis left to the cabin with his tail tucked between his legs after you kept telling him to go away. He left after you said that you don’t trust him and no one should because he acts like a brat. He looked hurt and looked around at the other girls with eyes that screamed he regretted what he did with the gun, but no one had his back. He just stepped back, and you shook your head as you turned to the others.
“Are any of these, like, Maple syrup trees?” Laura Lee asks as she looks up at the tall sycamore tree.
“What?” Tai questions as she walks behind her, towards the clearing a few feet away.
“I don’t know,” Laura Lee mumbled as she walked away. She softly touched your shoulder as she walked by, needing you to stabilize her from the trail's incline.
You found some chestnuts on the ground. They were fresh and not ready yet, and you put them in your pocket as you heard Akilah smack Misty’s hand.
“Don’t eat that kind,” Akilah panicked as she pushed the mushroom in Misty’s hand on the forest floor. “It’s poisonous.”
Misty looks at her with big eyes and a little shaky hands.
Van says, sarcastically, “Like “Kill you” poisonous, or like, “trip your balls off” poisonous?”
“What? I don’t know. My Girl Scout leader didn’t get all that specific about it.”
” (y/n)?” Taissa asks as she kneels to the ground with Mari.
You look over to Taissa, looking at tiny button-like mushrooms that grow from decaying animals.
“Don’t eat that one either. That's a dead mushroom. It is too new to eat if we could eat it. It would be like eating rotting meat. Don’t even touch.” You say as you look for more nuts on the forest ground. “Try to look for nuts. They are on the ground. If it has a hole, just drop it for the animals.”
“Well, could you just show us something edible so we can get going?” Misty asks kindly, impatiently—this is the first time you have heard her sound like that.
Taissa looks behind her to Misty, rising to stand over her, “What’s the big furry?”
“Coach needs a sponge bath?” Van teases Misty with a smirk, and you feel one grow on your lips at the joke, too. Everyone pauses to look at Misty, animals looking down at the runt. As a snicker comes to their lips, Taissa fully laughs, covering her mouth.
“That’s-That’s so mean.” Taissa laughs as she looks to the ground. Everyone softly holds their laughs as Misty storms off. Van laughs as Misty rushes past and giggles out, “I’m sorry. Whatever.”
Van puts her arm around Taissa’s shoulders, and you look at them. Jealousy courses through you. Why couldn’t you have someone like they do?
“Get off me!” Taissa patted Van’s arm away. In response, Van smears a smash berry she hid on her finger on Taissa’s face. “Did you put a berry on me?”
“I did.” Van said, taking her arm off her, and moved herself towards you.
“Okay, so, everyone, we just need to focus. We know we can’t touch those and those ones.” Taissa spoke to the group, trying to lead them back on track,
“No mushrooms, No mushrooms.” Van says as she starts to look up the trees for the chestnuts.
“Uh, Guys…” Jackie called out from a few yards away. You all moved quickly to her voice out of concern that she had encountered a wild animal in the woods.
“Jackie? “What is it?” you called back as you rushed to her.
“Guys, come here!” Jackie laughed.
“Look! Holy Shit!” Jackie exclaimed. You come over some trees and bushes to see Jackie slapping the door of a small personal plane that has vines and moss growing on it. The woods themselves are almost swallowing it, as it has had overgrowth for at least a decade, only covering and trapping it in place.
“W-what is this doing here?” Van asks in disbelief.
“It must have been the dead guy’s.” Jackie says as she looks at the wheels being stuck in the mud.
Laura Lee quickly finds the door and opens it, “I wonder if It still works?” Laura Lee questioned to no one in particular.
Van gently spins the propeller, “Holy fuck!”
Laura Lee is inside the plane, messing around loudly. You don’t want to get near that thing. You never want to be near a plane again. You stand away as you watch them touch the plane in excitement, everyone else coming closer to the plane.
Suddenly, as your anxieties manifested themselves to life, the plane started from Van’s spinning the propeller and Laura Lee messing around inside. The engine started with a startling rattle as it crept forward.
“Holy shit.” Van says as she steps back in shock. Jackie is wholly frozen until she suddenly pushes Van out of the way of the plane.
“Back away! What the fuck?” Jackie says as she is frozen in place.
“Stop the fucking plane!” You scream out to the plane. You feel yourself planted to the ground. You didn’t even react when Van fell to the ground. Everyone yells to stop the plane, and Laura Lee panics inside the plane, crying out, “I’m trying! I’m trying!”
The plane stopped just in time to avoid harming Jackie. She looked at the plane with buggy, big eyes and took a deep breath of relief.
Everyone pauses after the intense change of events. You stand frozen in silence as you look down at the wheels and wings. You had an intrusive thought creep into your mind, but you quieted quickly before speaking it out.
Lottie looks on, almost disassociated, as she says, “It didn’t want him to leave.”
You turn your head to her and look at her deeply concernedly. She says what you had thought. Maybe the wilderness didn’t want the mummy to leave. That's why he did what he did in the attic and why the air was so suffocating.

You giggle at Misty’s goofy joke about old men as you try not to spit out the chocolate martini in your mouth. Earlier today, Misty called you to ask how you were doing after the road trip because she thought the air between you and Natalie was off. She just wanted to check up. It ended up with you sitting across from her at an Italian restaurant.
“Yeah, so I just turned off the oxygen tank.” She says to add on to the joke, which kind of makes you laugh harder because you can see her doing that.
“Stop, you didn’t!” You giggle again as you try to hide your face with a napkin; your face is red hot.
“I didn’t-” Misty laughs with you as she sips on her chocolate martini. She says, “I wouldn’t do that to anyone.”
“No, you wouldn’t.” You say it with some sternness from Misty’s character. You make her feel more supported if you sometimes reaffirm what she wants to be seen as. You see her in that way. No one likes to be told who they are.
You notice her laugh, look slightly behind you briefly, and note it.
“Well, So, How is your work? Any new boos” Misty asks as she takes another sip of her martini. You feel yourself smile at the question and know she asks for more profound reasons.
“No, no, nothing special about work. And just little flings here and there. Keep the bed warm,” you say as you look at Misty’s eyes intently. You feel a little tense when you ask, “And you? How is it going with Kevin?” You ask with a soft joke about the last time you saw each other.
Misty became slightly flustered momentarily and shook her head, “I was trying to get Natalie out of her comfort zone.” Looking behind you again, she says, “But more or less the same. No one special enough to say they dated Misty Quigley.”
You chuckle and smile at Misty’s last comment, but you look behind you as soon as she finishes talking out of curiosity. You see behind a window of the inside of the restaurant. Dressed up nice, Misty is holding her head on her fist, listening to the man across from her, Natalie. Misty is following Natalie.
“Misty-”
“I can explain!” Misty says as she blabbers on, “I was trying to keep an eye on her and make sure she is okay after seeing Travis because she might do something crazy or relapse.”
You quietly listen to Misty explain herself with a soft smile as you scoff softly, pulling out your phone, “And here I thought you wanted to spend time with little old me.”
Misty squeals, “I did want to see you. I wanted to get a drink.”
“It’s okay.” You chuckle softly and say, “Sometimes you trade friends out for a night out. It’s alright, girl.”
Suddenly, Misty straightens her back and smiles softly. She lifts her drink to her lips as Natalie rushes to your table. You lean back on your chair with wide eyes, holding your chocolate martini.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Natalie hissed to Misty, standing in a black dress. She was clearly on a fate tonight, and you couldn’t help but feel a mumbling jealousy in your stomach as you looked at her.
“Okay, so, don’t look now, but,” Misty lowers her voice to a whisper and says, “that reporter, Jessica Roberts, is sitting at the bar right now. She’s watching you.”
“And what are you doing?” Natalie tilted her head to the side as she looked at Misty with suspicious eyes, her tone clear of annoyance.
“I’m having your back.” Misty stated.
“Y-you’re having my…” Natalie is in disbelief. “How did you even know I was even here?”
“I’m a citizen detective, " Misty said, looking at Natalie with big, innocent eyes.
“I hate to break it to you, but we’re not Rizzoli and Isles. I don’t need you.”
“Yeah, but, Natalie-”
“Go the fuck home.” Natalie spat.
“Alright, you need to stop talking to Misty like that-” You finally cut yourself into the conversation.
“Who are you speaking to?” Natalie snapped her head to you and said, “I expect this from Misty, but you? I don’t understand why you are here.”
“I’m here, having a drink with Misty. I saw her at her job, and we decided to get drinks.”
“Oh please, you came here to spy on me! How fucking pathetic. Don’t you have to write a book about rubbing off a genie?” She hissed at you and looked daggers into you. She went too far in your eyes now, and you lean on your elbow on the table as you look back into her eyes.
“Oh, aren’t you so strong and high mighty?” You hiss lowly to Natalie. Ever since the night in the woods with Natalie, you have had difficulty holding back your teeth when you feel cornered, even a little. “Misty is here protecting you and having your back like always. Because Jessica,” You point to the bar, Jessica looking to the bartender to order another drink, “Is here waiting for you to relapse to spill the beans about it. Stop biting at people trying to be there for you; you might not be so alone. Now go drink, and go on your date with goth freak Kevin Tang.” You cut coldly as you look into Natalie’s blue eyes. You grab your drink, lean back in your chair, take a sip.
“Make sure you don’t go too far. You might need to get another one of your coins, right? What does that make it 9 times you have gotten a sobriety coin?” you stab at her and mention her many times in AA. You didn’t care how hurtful or unnecessary your anger was to her. You must say it to her, and she needed to hear it. She needed to back off Misty.
It was intense, and it was real.
You didn’t need to bite so hard. But she didn’t need to bite first.
You two hold a glare as Natalie steps back and scowls at you. She doesn’t say a word. You know why.
It’s because you are right.
You feel Misty touching your hand and saying, “Are you alright? That was pretty harsh.” Once, Natalie returned to her table with a perfect smile mask.
“I’m alright. But I think we should go now.” You say softly as you touch Misty’s hand back,
Misty holds your hand with a squeeze quickly. She wants to hold you. You have protected her yet again from the wolves in the group.
You both held the heavy silence as you softly panted a bit. You felt it in the car; it was surrounding and whole. You were happy and open, as always.
In the car, you look over to Misty, noticing the flustered face she holds. She was always awkward, but you always found her adoring. As you both drive down to your home, the trees that pass hypnotize you into a calm place. You feel your body, and with each breath you take, cold air enters your nose, and an image of last night's dream comes to your mind. Running past trees, you felt as if you were back there somehow. Maybe it was because of the anniversary, the reporter, or Travis’s death; you couldn’t pinpoint it, but you felt a forgotten hunger you hadn’t felt in a long time. You let it take over like it did them because of the exciting thrill of it all again. It felt youthful and intense.
“Misty.”
“Yes?”
“Do you miss me?” You ask her as you softly touch a lint off her shoulder.
“W-what do you mean? I have been with you for the past two hours.” She says as she drives down your street.
“No. No, Misty.” You chuckle, and the hunger comes over you. You want to feel warm; you have been far too cold lately. “Have you missed me and the warmth we shared?”
You don’t understand yourself. You sound like you did all those years ago in the woods. How sexual you became without trying. It felt like the air around us darkened into lustful wants and licks. How natural you were with your body.
Misty was caught off guard by how quickly your words changed the car's atmosphere. The memories of the wilderness and how you looked her over suddenly brought back feelings that she thought were long gone. Misty’s throat tightened, and her heart quickened as she glanced over at you, taking in the expression on your face as you asked her the question. She slowly parked the car, her hands gripping the steering wheel tight “Y-yeah, I did…”
Your hand snakes onto Misty’s inner thigh, and your thumb rubs the fabric of her jeans. Your eyes stare down at your hand.
“Would you like to feel my heat again?” you whisper, feeling your hot breath hitting off her cheek. You don’t understand the tingling and desperatiness your cunt feels at this moment. You shouldn’t have touched her, spoken to her, or even considered thinking about her. You knew better than to let yourself cave into your primal instincts, instincts you have because of the wilderness with them. All the hurt in the woods manifested into want as it always did.
Misty’s breath hitches at the feeling of your hand on her thigh, and her heartbeat quickens in her chest as her skin tingles under your touch. It's almost as if no time has passed at all. Your words and desperate tone send a shiver down her spine as she glances over at you, her eyes darkening with lust and need. “Yes… please.” She whispered back, her voice filled with want. Your hand moves up her thigh and softly rubs the fabric at the crotch of her jeans. You could feel her heat underneath.
You lunged at Misty, cupping her cheeks with your hands. You pulled her into your face and kissed her. Your lips met and mashed together as your hands moved closer to her, pushing her back against the driver’s side door. Thank God you live on a dirt road.
Misty lets a small gasp into the kiss as your hand moves up her thigh. Her body already feels as if it's on fire. She responds to the kiss passionately, her desire for you growing with each passing second. She reaches up and grips your hair, pulling you closer as she deepens the kiss, her tongue exploring your mouth with desperate need.
(y/n) hands quickly work to unbutton Misty's jeans. You move your kisses off Misty's lips to her jaw and neck. Misty lets out a small moan as your lips move down her jaw. She leans her head back and closes her eyes, surrendering herself to the feel of your lips on her skin. The feel of your tongue moving down her neck, sending small licks and nips here and there, makes her shiver in pleasure. You softly growl in lust as you start to pull the jeans and underwear down her pale legs, your thumb touching the bare skin. She spreads her legs farther apart, allowing you to pull her jeans and underwear down, her breathing getting more labored with each passing second.
You quickly push your two fingers inside of Misty’s weeping cunt, and she dramatically moves her leg to the center console for you to have more of her. You move her head from her neck and just look at her as you push inside of her, a gasp rattling the car escapes from her.
You look into her brown eyes for a moment as you see when pleasure takes over her being as you feel her walls tighten around your fingers. You feel her pink, wet hole flex and twitch to your fingers; it feels like she hasn’t had sex in a long time as you start to pump your fingers into her.
Her hand locks into your hair, or more so your head, as she rubs her other hand on your shoulder. She softly pushes you down to her cunt as she rolls her head back in a deep moan. You feel the vibration on the pads of your pointer and middle fingers. You feel the hotness of her cunt as you lean down, her musk clouding your judgment and making you think of only one thing.
You lean down, pushing your body to the floor of the passenger’s seat, licking her cunt. You taste her flavor and wetness leaking from her clit. You circle your tongue around the bulb with reckless abandon. You feel her gushing onto your fingers, and her loud moans only encourage you to go harder.
“(y-y/n)! Honey- right there, yeah!” Misty’s needy, desperate moans fill the car up with hot air. Her legs shake as she rolls her eyes. She panted like an animal as you tongue into her, sucking up all her wetness as you could. You felt throbbing in your wrist as you curled your fingers up to touch her soft spot. You could have been here for days and not cared.
Misty grabs her breast as she arches her back to your mouth. She moaned louder and louder to tell you she was going to cum, but you didn’t care. You kept licking and sucking her juices.
“Sweet Jesus!” Misty whispers to the air as she feels you fuck her harder with your mouth. She finally lets out a high-pitched, needy groan as her feet curl, legs twitching. Her eyes closed as her head hit the glass of her door, and she leaned back to relish in the feeling. You bury yourself in her folds, looking up from her lap, and watch as she shivers, as your tongue doesn’t stop.
You move your mouth up to her clit again and your fingers into her hole, pounding her with an elemental need to feel your fingers caress her cervix. You don’t move again. You don’t care how uncomfortable it felt as your legs were pinched into the floor, or how the cupholder stabbed into your rib, or that your neck was throbbing so that you could hear your heartbeat. You wanted her, and you wanted to feel her ultimately come undone to your fingers again.

The clattering of some forks and spoons scrap across the plates, people talking over everyone else, and the heat of the fire warm the cabin’s first floor. Everyone was in a better mood after shooting practice and settling for the night. Travis sits alone in the corner of the room, rejected by everyone tonight as punishment. You felt yourself thinking about him being sad and alone in the corner. “Good.”
Jackie and Shauna sit beside you at the table, your attention entirely on them and their discussion about how Pamala Anderson’s sex tape scandal.
“I mean, she shouldn’t have been a slut and done it, is all I have to say.” Jackie shrugged and took a bite of the white fish, and her face cringed when she pulled out a small bone.
“No!” You say with a chuckle and shake of your head, “Someone shouldn’t have robbed their safe and sold the sex tape.”
“She shouldn’t have even done it. Like, who just does a porno if they are not a slut?”
“She was with her husband. Who else are you supposed to have a sex tape with?” Shauna asked as she shook her head at Jackie.
“No one! No one should ever do a porn! It's so degrading.”
“I don’t know, I don’t know how someone would want to make one, but she wasn’t with a whole lot of guys. She’s married to Tommy Lee. And it was supposed to be his thing for tour.”
“Yeah, who wouldn’t think a Mötley Crüe member would have a sex tape? I wouldn’t be surprised if they taped the many other women they have fucked,” You say as you delightfully eat the fish. It was fresh and delicious after days of only eating berries and leftover snacks you could find from the crash. You are having meat, and it feels like a real treat as you haven’t tasted anything as delicious in weeks.
Before you could continue, Van touched your shoulder as you looked at Jackie. You turned to her as she said, “Hey, do you have a sweater I can burrow? I don’t think anyone else has anything I can wear.”
You smiled big at Vanessa, nodding your head, and stood up. “Yeah, I have a few.”
“Where are you going?” Jackie asks sassily as you get up. She tilts her eyes at you.
Shauna looks up at you and is slightly confused, but she also asks, “Are you coming back?”
“Yeah, just getting something for Van, hold up.” You say as you start to walk away.
“Thanks, (y/n). You're a lifesaver.” Van beams as her smile moves with you. You touch her shoulder as you walk past her, and you walk over to the other side of the cabin to the bags.
You were one of the lucky ones that found all your luggage. You had your carry-on, luggage, and purse still intact and untouched from the fire. You were so happy to have your journal and book you haven’t finished, but you felt bad for everyone still looking for their things. Van could only find her carry-on; some didn’t have anything they packed. You all carried every bag you could find, but some still had missing clothes. Because of that, Van has been coming to you to burrow clothes as the only other heavy girl much smaller than you, so you let her burrow your shirts and hoodies since the crash.
A small sandwich bag falls to the floor as you open the bag and grab the heavy yellowjackets sweatshirt. It was your stash of weed with the rolling papers and filters. You blush as you quickly grab the bag from the ground and put it into your jeans pocket. You look behind you to see if anyone has seen that, with embarrassment painted all over your face.
You walk back over to Van and hand her the hoodie. You smile widely as you sit down. You didn’t want everyone to know you had weed, but you think that tonight would be the best night to do anything. You smile as you whisper into Jackie’s ear, “I have weed.”
She stops eating instantly, and her eyes bug out. She looks over at you and laughs, “What?”
You hit her shoulder softly as she laughs again, “You have what?”
“What?” Shauna asks, besides Jackie, and when you two make eye contact, it makes you laugh.
You whisper in Jackie’s ear again. “I have weed. Would we like a joint?” Jackie laughs and hits you on the shoulder, her mouth wide open in shock and amusement. She nods her head and whispers to Shauna, and you turn your head to Van, “Hey, I have a joint-”
“What?” Van asks as she leans her ear towards your lips. Your lips accidentally graze her ear, and you say, “I have a joint. Tell the other seniors. Don’t be suspicious; don’t tell the underclassmen.”
Van smirk grew wide on her freckled face as she nods her head, she says. “Okay, I’ll let them know. When are we doing this?”
“When everyone is asleep, " you tell her, knowing that if anyone overhears you, they will not understand what you are discussing.
You light the joint with a twig, puffing the air out of the end of the filter. You hear muffled giggles from Jackie and Shauna beside you. " Stop laughing,” you snicker back and pull the joint from your lips. You pull Shauna and Jackie to the back of the cabin and show them the weed you packed on the plane. You all decide to roll one out.
“Didn’t know you would have the good stuff,” Jackie smirks with an amused laugh in her voice. She takes a puff and hands it to Shauna with a muffled cough.
Shauna laughs softly as she also smokes and coughs in response to inhaling the smoke. She covers her mouth with her elbow, and you laugh at her.
Van moves behind the cabin's hunter shed, and Taissa, Natalie, and Lottie follow her.
“Hey!" you say to them as you take a hit of the joint and blow the smoke quickly.
Natalie says to you, “Damn, (y/n). Didn’t know you were such a criminal. Hand that over to me.”
You giggle happily as you hand it over to Natalie. You look up at her from your spot on the log. She looks down at you with heavy eyes as she takes a hit. She slowly looks over your face again before handing it over to Van. You felt a blush come over you again as you felt her eyes scan over your features, and you didn’t know what to do. You felt insecure and flattered at the attention but still deeply hesitated to meet her eyes.
Natalie, who never passes up a joint, reaches out her hand to take it from you while Taissa eyes it. Lottie looks at the joint and then at you with a tiny bit of concern; the others knew she’d probably be the one most concerned about the joint.
“Where’d you get that from?” Nat asks as she inhales the joint.
You felt yourself joke, “Where do you think I got weed from?’
“I don’t know. A drug dealer.” Van jokes to you with a scrunch of her freckled nose.
“Sort of. My mom is the one who has the weed. She has a weed card since she got diagnosed with cancer.” You said without realizing the words from your throat. You hadn’t thought about your mom almost all day, “She grows some behind our house in the woods, Natalie,” You point at her jokingly, “Don’t get any ideas. You have to buy that shit.”
Everyone laughs loudly at your joke. Lottie takes the joint and smiles, holding the smoke in her mouth. You look at your feet, and suddenly, your mother comes to mind. You think about your mom, and a lump grows in your throat. Did she take her night medicine? Is she watching Frasier? Is she worrying about you?
From the side of the shed, there is a crunch of leaves and twigs, and a petite figure comes from behind the shed. Natalie turns herself and turns back to face you. She gives you a face of “fuck it's her again.”
Misty comes from the shed, pushing a curl behind her ear as she looks at the group. You smile at her as Jackie rolls her eyes, smoking the joint beside you.
“Hey Misty! What are you doing here?”
“H-hi. I was going to the bathroom. What are you guys doing?” she asks nervously as she approaches the group.
“Drugs.” Lottie says as she looks at Misty with a humorous tone.
You laugh as you take the joint from Jackie and wave your hand to Misty to enter the circle, “Come closer, it’s okay; it’s legal here.” You joke, and it makes everyone laugh with bloodshot eyes. Misty chuckles and looks around at everyone in approval. Sometimes, it was painful to see her so desperate for some kind of friendship that it made you feel bad, so in your intoxicated state, you pulled your hand out for her, “You can try it if you want to, Misty. Sit.”
Misty’s eyes looked wide as everyone turned their head towards you as you invited her into the smoke circle, but no one stopped you. They seemed also to want to see what Misty does.
“I-I can? Is it safe?” she asks as she approaches the log beside you.
Jackie snickered and looked at Misty with narrow eyes, “No, that’s why we are all smoking on it.” She condescended.
You shake your head and take Misty’s hand. “Ignore her. Just don’t take a huge hit. You gotta get used to it, then you’ll want more,” You told Misty gently. You puff the joint before it goes out in the wind. Your body is starting to relax and calm in the woods, and your neck doesn’t hurt as much as it did earlier.
You hand Misty the joint, and everyone watching the scene plays out with amused eyes. You gently hold your hand over hers to guide her. “Have you ever smoked a cigarette?”
“No, they’re bad for you.”
You chuckle and nod, “Yes, but they are just like weed. You take small inhales, not like you're trying to breathe it in, but sip on a drink with a straw, okay? Baby puff.” You say, pulling the joint back to your lips and showing her.
Your lips wrap around the filter softly as you take a quarter breath in. You then dramatically hold it out and show that you take the rest of the breath through your mouth. You hold the smoke in for a moment and then let it out for her to understand. “You get it now?” you cough.
“I-I think.” she says as she takes the joint from you, holding it between shaky fingers. She takes a puff and then starts coughing furiously. Natalie took the joint from Misty’s shaking hand before it fell to the ground, she takes a puff inbetween her laughs.
Misty holds her fist to her lips as she tries to get all the smoke out of her lungs. Everyone laughs happily and claps for her when she does it, enjoying seeing Misty try something for the first time. You put your hand on her back to pat it gently. She seems to relax at your touch momentarily before finally getting her coughing under control.
“You finally tried marijuana for the first time!” You exclaim and rub a circle on Misty’s back, her cheeks crimson.
“It was amazing,” Misty breathlessly says as she looks at everyone else. Everyone is very high now, and their eyes are bloodshot and dry. You smack your lips, longing for a drink.
“Misty, have you ever drank?” Lottie asks as she sits with her knees to her chest. She tilts her head to the sides and watches Misty’s facial expressions. You didn’t understand the feeling you felt from her eyes. It felt almost like she was studying and calculating Misty. You have never seen that look on someone.
Misty studders and says, “Y-Yeah, I have. I stole some sherry from my mother’s cabinet.”
Van laughs a little “whoa” out as a joke about how mild Misty’s confession was, the smoke of the joint coming out of her mouth like the hot breath of a hunger wolf, and she says, “I’ve done crazier.”
Taissa looks at Van with a playful glare and says, “Like what?”
“I stole a whole bottle fo whiskey from my mom. And she didn’t even find out. She didn’t even realize she didn’t drink it, so she just got more for herself.” Van confesses with a smug smirk on her face, and Natalie chuckles and nods her head like she’s done that before to her mom. You felt a little wrong about what Van said because it made you feel like her mom had a nasty drinking problem.
“I did that before with my mom’s cigarettes.” Natalie says, “They never notice if you just take a few here and there.”
Jackie smirked and said, “I know every one of my mom's pills in the bathroom cabinet. I took a few for the trip. She’s never caught me before.”
“My dad is very strict with those things. I don’t think I can do anything without my parents knowing,” Lottie said, looking to the ground with a severe expression. You couldn’t put your finger on it, it her confession felt like it had a little more then she was letting on. Lately she has been off and talking more vague about things, and confessing more things about her life. Lottie’s parents were strict but the more you hear about them it sounds like they hover over Lottie’s every move.
“My mom just grows the shit, and I just take it.” You blurt out with your words softly slurring because you are high, and you realize you talked about your mom again. Was she okay?
Everyone laughs at how you talk and starts to laugh at their words sounding like yours—slurred and funny to hear.
You felt a sudden wave come over you as you laughed with your friends. It felt good—maybe too good—so good that it made you think about your mother. Was she okay? Did she get her pills on time? Did she bathe? Did she go to chemo?
In your laughter, your laughs turn to sobs in a second. You cover your mouth as heavy sobs leave your throat. You couldn’t help yourself. You couldn’t stop yourself.
Everyone slowly realized that your sounds weren’t in glee anymore; they were out of sorrow and a moment of weakness.
When you look, you see brown eyes, concerns, and worry on all the faces. You let out one thing that you knew was going to hurt them. Your body didn’t stop itself from letting out deep-seated sorrow.
“I’m sorry. I really miss my parents and momm- mom so much.” You whimpered as you wiped your tears. You had a full belly and a fire keeping you warm. But inside, you have never been so cold and helpless in these woods.
Everyone’s faces soften and twist in their sadness. We all know what we are feeling, and they also start tearing up. Everyone missed their parents, and you felt like an asshole even saying anything.
You sniffle and try to stop your tears. Being strong has worn you down, but you have a “strong shoulder.” Like your father always said, you can handle the hurt.
You say to everyone, “I think we all need some love right now. Group hug. Please.” Standing up, throwing the dying joint into the fire, moving your plush arms around to urge them to you.
One by one, they stood, hovered over you, and hugged you and each other—a moment of shared pain and joy. Being strong was hard, but as you felt them hold you, you felt a second wind. You have to get yourself and the others out of here. Out of these fucking woods.
