One last time, for old time's sake: Fuck "Attack on Titan."
It's been a while since I've posted some hate about how badly Isayama killed SNK/AOT for me in its last third. That series ā€” which was a big fave of mine for roughly 89 chapters ā€” eventually just completely fucking shit the bed and then faceplanted right INTO the shit. I got pretty upset about it, and honestly? I STILL get riled up when I think about it.
(If your HOT TAKE in response to this is "Y R U so emoshunly invesstd in FICSHUNUL CHARAKTURS?????? LULZ" just stfu and gtfo, ok?)
But of course, I'm referring to how I felt RE: the manga's events and ultimate ending. Said ending is relevant once more, though, because just this past weekend? The anime hit its conclusion.
As a manga reader, I tried to hang in there for a LONG time after the unfortunate timeskip hit with Chapter 90. But they finally lost me so hard at Chapter 124 that I walked. And that's the reality for most of us who were angry and disgusted. We just... left. We stopped talking about it.
That's why, today, those who're still discussing AOT are almost all the die-hard fans who never stopped loving it. Which is part of why talking smack about AOT right now has got me feeling as paranoid as Sasha trying to stealth-cram a potato down her gullet.
Tumblr media
Even so, I soldier forward. I've been thinking back on how bad this one hurt when it killed itself, which led me to looking over my old posts on the matter.
So, in "honor" of the end of the anime series, let me take a moment to look back on how they Shat on Titan.
One my first posts explaining the downward spiral was this long boi that attempted to summarize my MANY negative feelings at the time.
More thoughts on how it all went wrong in response to an Ask.
The timeskip was a mistake, and it felt wrong in many ways. This was the moment it began to most clearly go to hell... even though there WERE earlier warning signs.
...actually, I'd better rant about that some more.
For a while, we thought Isayama was maybe just screwing up an attempted "hate leads to more hate" message? (The ending of the series made it clear he was never trying to go there.)
Of course, at one point it was pointed out to me that the Eldians are maybe supposed to represent the history of Japan instead of the Jews, which... honestly doesn't help the situation very much, actually? It's still REALLY fucked up?
Thankfully, I wasn't totally alone in all this. (Even if it sometimes feels like I am.)
I did come back and read through the ending of the series, which... surprise!... sucked hard.
One last negative ask/response.
I see you wreckin' the tale of the peeps I loved And I'm like, "Fuck you" (ooh, ooh, ooh) The characters you had weren't enough, so I'm like, "Fuck you, and your story, too"

TTG Rant
tbh I donā€™t have many major issues with Teen Titans Go, like yeah itā€™d be cool if there were actual stories told rather than stuff thatā€™s canon one episode then thrown away the next; kinda like what Adventure Time did at the beginning. But the only thing I really donā€™t like is how they donā€™t rlly seem to be friends in the show. Theyā€™re teammates who play and sing and dance and party and fight together, but they just donā€™t really seem like friends
There no banter itā€™s genuine insults and thereā€™s hardly any serious moments where we can be like ā€œyeah they like each otherā€ (Ik itā€™s not a serious show but you can have a shitposting type show while having actual character moments) other than Cyborg and Beast Boy playing video games. This isnā€™t hate on the writers but imo itā€™d be more watchable if the characters had chemistry. Iā€™ve tried to watch the series and I canā€™t get past the episodes I remember airing from when I was like 4-7 bc so much of the humor involves hurting someone in a way that feels genuine or just childish jokes (more the former)
Thereā€™s gonna be ppl who hate it bc itā€™s not the og show, but I just dislike it bc thereā€™s nothing serious abt the show. The only things rlly set in stone are their designs, the setting, and their powers but everything else is free to change when the plot calls for it as if theyā€™re puppets that kids are using. Iā€™ve had more in depth roleplays in ā€œWolves Lifeā€ on Roblox when I was 8; glowing dragon wings, boombox, truth or dare, and all
p.s. this was inspired by a ttg fan comic Iā€™m reading on deviantart where Beast Boy was doing bad during training and when Cyborg and Robin were talking abt it, Cyborg suggested he asks whatā€™s wrong and Robin said BB told him he was fine but if he doesnā€™t get himself together heā€™ll have to find a replacement. That got me thinking on the difference between Teen Titans Robin and Beast Boy and Teen Titans Goā€™s version. In both shows BB being on the team was a conflict, but in TT Robin was still trying to help BB remember what happened so he wouldnā€™t have to for the safety of the team; while TTG Robin was similar to the comic. In one example you can tell Robin actually likes Beast Boy and wants him to stay while in the other he sees him as replaceable, you donā€™t see your FRIEND as replaceable

Out of time, and out of breath, yet his legs still had the strength to run. The forest was getting darker and the sky felt as though was filled with rage. The sun burned on his skin as it began to set. There was no way for Zael to know which way the hunters were coming from -- accept an arrow which almost pierced his shoulder, shredding the tree he hid behind. Shit. What ever was in this place, these strangers certainly did not want Zael to find it. Still, he was persistent -- feeling it foolish he did not bring a weapon. The hollow was not answering his call. It meant one thing. A fragment of magic was here, he just did not know where, also a calling he just could not refuse. A memory shard called and pulled him closer. It was the only thing that determined Zael to run towards the pull. It wasn't long until they caught up with him, arrows just barely missing him, only to be met with the edge of a cliff. He saw the distance, but turned back to see masked figures approach. It was here where the pull was at its strongest.
Tumblr media
He was out of breath, and perhaps out of time. An arrow was loaded and aimed. Just before the arrow flew towards Zael, a massive gust of wind pulled behind him, and pulling him in. There it was, a fragmented pull of a portal. A closed space of worlds between worlds. It took only seconds before it was there and gone again, taking Zael with it. Like a mouth, it swallowed him, and spat him back out. He screamed, only to tuck and roll right onto the ground, grunting as gravity did not take kind to the landing. After a moment, he opened his eyes, only to see polished marble, a set of thrones, and a young man ( @royalarms ) with a rather shocked expression. Zael was out of breath, and body felt weak. He tried -- in vain -- to shake it away, but ended up giving in, fainting right then and there.

On Solas's romantic history
Okay. I know what the consensus is. That heā€™s way too smooth in Inquisition to be inexperienced but... (and Iā€™m fully prepared to get shat on for this lmao donā€™t kill me)
When he kisses Lavellan, that doesnā€™t read to me like heā€™s super suave and seductive. It reads more likeā€”endeared by them trying to run away after kissing him, then being so surprised by how good the kiss felt, that he grabs Lavellan, kisses them again, pulls back with a surprised look on his face, and then goes in for more. Itā€™s touch-starved, desperate, hungry. Itā€™s not really all that smooth because heā€™s literally bending them over backwards lmao like Solas can you chill maybe
He is very smooth when flirting with Lavellan, but he's also an absolute gobshite who's spent thousands of years sassing the hell out of wannabe gods so that's not a surprise. He's witty af and enjoys some back and forth.
Solas is a very lonely man. He keeps everyone at armā€™s length because heā€™s seen what getting close to people can do to him. His biggest fear is dying alone, and he almost gives into that because itā€™s what he believes he deserves for all heā€™s done. His life has been so stressful for so long that he's almost totally unable to consider anything else but his battles. He even says explicitly that he's tired.
That doesnā€™t make me think of someone who was out there in Ancient Elvhenan sleeping around all those years. No doubt he considered it, but he likely didn't pursue much with anyone physical; he enjoyed spending as much time as possible in the Fade. (The banter with Blackwall doesn't count to me personally since Solas himself thinks the whole idea is preposterous, which speaks for itself really.) Especially after being a slave/servant to Mythal seems to have voided him of his agency for some time. Then he led a rebellion and fought for thousands of years against brutal tyrants. Any one of the people he was close to couldā€™ve been trying to kill him. Lavellan, however, has no reason to do so, so he can flirt with them freely. In all that time, it seems as though the only people he allowed to get close to the real him were Felassan and Mythal. I donā€™t think he slept with either, because the relationship was familial. Felassan was also loyal to Mythal, but didnā€™t burn his vallaslin off. (Is this a right hand/left hand of the Divine parallel again? Two brothers and their mother? Idk, I need to think about that one). For creatures with bodies made from the blood of Titans, they donā€™t have blood families. They wouldā€™ve had to forge their own, which is what Solas did with Mythal and Felassan.
And then thereā€™s his ā€˜it has been a long timeā€™. Most have taken this to mean that itā€™s been a long time since heā€™s been intimate with someone, but given what we know now and that he spent thousands of years in the Fade while his body was in utheneraā€¦ I wonder if heā€™s actually saying-- ā€˜it has been a long time since I lived in a bodyā€™-- ie. ā€˜it has been a long time since I felt physical drives, a long time since I have felt so physically realā€™. To me, this makes a lot more sense than the ā€˜heā€™s thousands of years old he canā€™t possibly be a virgin/inexperiencedā€™ take bc like... My friends. It probably didnā€™t feel like thousands of years to him bc heā€™s essentially always existed. Time is different for spirits. Itā€™s not like heā€™s gonna go: ā€˜well Iā€™m nearly 4000y/o, better lose my v-cardā€™. Time is no object when you are a timeless being. Then, given the path his life took, it wouldnā€™t make a lot of sense for him to be that experienced given how hard it is for him to trust.
I also personally headcanon him as heavily demisexual/demiromantic too. His true nature is so non-physical that the idea of him being very promiscuous or something just doesnā€™t fit his character. He needs a mental connection, to feel something, before sharing much of himself, or allowing himself the vulnerability intimacy brings, something he clearly feels with Lavellan based on how shaken up by it he is.
And itā€™s also canon that Solas has never been in love before meeting Lavellan. So. If he went however many millennia without falling in love, itā€™s also possible he went without intimacy for a long time too.
To be clear Iā€™m not trying to say that this is the correct conclusion. My opinion has just changed a little since Veilguard (I used to think he was being smooth etc bc he's old af/v experienced, but with confirmation of former spirit Solas itā€™s changed my perspective somewhat)
Also:
ā€˜Things have always been easier for me in the Fadeā€™
ā€˜I am not often thrown by things that happen in dreamsā€™ my man is shooketh guys SHOOKETH

Nice post about Roy I like how kind your response was. But yeah as a Roy fan I find the idea that he would hate anyone but the man who killed his daughter to be silly. Cause like thing is Roy has a line till he doesnā€™t. Like you said Roy draws a line for himself with Cheshire but he never ever 100 percent commits. Even after the bombing and her holding a gun to Lian and threatening to shoot her while trying to escape prison, in his time with the League he still is hinted to love her and still lets Lian visit her. Flash forward to now they are still on again off again lovers/enemies. The old Titans ā€˜Roy breaks up with Cheshireā€™ story was written like it was the full end of their relationship but DC loves that concept and in comics they will always come back.
With Mia or people hurting his family Roy would not care at the end of the day unless that family member died sorry. Roy forgave a woman who babysat Lian and helped terrorists kidnap her and then broke his leg in an attempt to kill Cheshire. No he didnā€™t just forgive her he offered to let her keep babysitting Lian saying he didnā€™t think he had the right to judge anyone.
People other than Roy say he belongs in the light but Roy kind of hates that about himself and actively denies and resists it because he thinks the dirty work is the real important work. He worked in fantasy superhero CIA for years and even killed for them, left and made the Outsiders, initially didnā€™t want to leave and basically stayed till the last second till his mental health gave in, joined the League and didnā€™t actually have a great time with the group or ever really believe he belonged, had a horrible ending with that group and became a straight up villain after the ROA fiasco and worked on a team of villains all of whom except Slade he expressed some sort of sympathy for.
Roy just doesnā€™t give up on people and kind of really wants to do antihero work and tries to again and again. The age/maturity thing kind of gets it but that only matters where you connect Roy and Jason, they are peers and work together in some fashion off screen for a year in Outsiders, put a ROA recovering villain Roy with really any post UTRH Jason save Morrison Jason and you could write an intergenerational friendship arc easy.
People forget but before 52 first started a lot of people wanted a Jason Roy book. It was floated around as an idea for ages and rumor was even Winick made a pitch but canā€™t confirm. When 52 was first announced a lot of people thought not only that RHATO made sense and only Kory didnā€™t belong but thought the comic had real potential. And really it might have since Roy and Cheshire at one point would not have made sense for either character and notably everything about their relationship happened off screen. We give things a pass because of how well the stories are written. I think most issues with comics are people moralizing about the characters and saying they would never do this or that when 9 times out of 10 the writer just shat over the execution of a concept and the writing as is was shit.
-- iā€™m just going to include my thoughts down here --
I agree with everything you said about Roy just not being the person who holds a lot of hatred for people. He comes off as strict and even angry sometimes, but at heart, heā€™s one of the most understanding characters.
I always took Royā€™s failed attempts at being an anti-hero as proof that itā€™s not what heā€™s meant to do. He keeps trying because he sees his sympathy and desire to do more as a sign that he needs to get his hands dirtier, but each time leaves him with the realization that he canā€™t be doing that type of work. He was reluctant to leave the Outsiders because he didnā€™t want to abandon them, thatā€™s why he does leave as soon as Ollie provides funding for them (which he also does specifically because he knows Roy wouldnā€™t leave, no matter how much he wanted to, otherwise). The Outsiders did end in Roy himself realizing he couldnā€™t stay there.
I think Roy has always worked best in the various Titans teams heā€™s been part of. Unfortunately, Teen Titans (2003) set a new status quo with enough of the original Titans leaving and the team working under the leadership of younger members even when more experienced Titans were present. So we could never really go back to the titans as they were in any of the iterations prior to that.
I donā€™t think Jason and Roy worked together for a whole year; it was just Jason reaching out to Dick, and then subsequently teaming up with him and Roy to give them information of Black Lightning. Which definitely worked to let Roy know the type of person that Jason is (i.e. not a villain), but it was also very much through Dick, so it would again be a reminder of the time that Jason, as a child, teamed up with Roy and the others. Royā€™s affinity to taking a guiding role when he works with team members significantly younger than him is just such an important part of who he is that I canā€™t get past it. I donā€™t mean to say that Royā€™s going to treat Jason like a child, but that thereā€™s going to be a significant gap between their friendship as compared to the friendship that post-flashpoint gave them. Roy is just at a completely different stage from Jason, who is essentially just beginning to catch up on life as a teenager. That difference canā€™t be ignored easily.
I didnā€™t read comics back then (and was also a very little kid lol) so I didnā€™t know about that being something people wanted back then! It must be disappointing to see how itā€™s turned out.
At the end of the day, I personally think that Roy and Jason could work together very well short-term, and then it would have to end in them walking their separate ways because Roy can never stay in the dark too long, whether he admits it or not. I get what youā€™re saying about good execution making all the difference, though! I just want to stay as consistent to Royā€™s character as possible, so Jason and Roy as best friends/a long-term anti-hero duo never quite works out.

Get to Know the Writer Questionnaire
Taking the open tags from @the-golden-comet here and @illarian-rambling here!
Rules: answer the questions!
Basics
How long have you had your writing Tumblr/Writeblr? A fast and loose estimate is fine!
I think it was November of 2022.
What led you to create it?
Twitter was going down so I moved elsewhere.
Whatā€™s your favorite thing about the Writeblr community?
The engagement and overall positivity! I was surprised how welcoming everyone was, and how touched I was when people gave compliments and how excited I was when people expressed interest!
Whatā€™s one thing youā€™d like your mutuals to know about you?
Well I'm always open to chat about whatever though I do have mild social anxiety. I'm always hyper analyzing whether I did something wrong or whatever. So if I come across as awkward I'm trying my best but I am always being genuine!
Is there anything youā€™d like to see more of on your dash?
Hm. This is a hard one. I guess I just wish I saw more interaction and engagement in people's work? Idk, it's always there, and I love seeing it, but having full conversations about each other's OCs and WIPs aren't as common. So idk more of that!
WIPs
Which WIPs or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?
Mainly I'm working on TSP but occasionally I'll dip my toes into SOTL again. Whenever I get an idea for a side project I barely have anything for, I'll write it down and get obsessed with it for a while.
And I also have a side project where I write reviews and analyses of TV shows or movies but I haven't gone back to it in a while despite having live notes of several movies and TV episodes in drafts.
How long have you been working on them?
TSP - spring of 2013, technically
SOTL - first came into my brain I think 2014-2015 but the first draft was 2015-2016
The first media analyses I wrote were in 2019 I think.
Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?
TSP - I liked fairies as a kid due to the Rainbow Magic series, but thought I was too old for fairies so when I was assigned to write a fictional story I wrote about kids with powers
SOTL - I loved different takes on fairy tales due to The Land of Stories and wanted to write my own
Analyses - getting Disney+ because I unironically had always wanted to review every single Disney movie so I did. It extended after I watched two seasons of DC's Titans (the live action one) and I hated it so much I shat out 10k+ words in a single fever driven day
How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?
Pretty often, I'd think, unless I'm deep in a hyperfixation stage of an existing show.
When someone asks the dreaded, ā€œWhat do you write about,ā€ question, what do you usually say?
"Fantasy mostly."
Name any characters you created. Ā Side characters, protagonists, antagonists, characters whoā€™ve never been written, the first original abomination you ever pulled from your ass; whomever youā€™d like!
For TSP the characters I've put any effort into characterizing include: Lexi Morgan, Maddie Morgan, Ash Hathaway, Gwen Amante, Noelle Bishop, Rose Hernandez, Kelsey Newman, Robbie Stafford, Akash Singh, Jedi Moon, Carmen Asghar, Carla Baxter, George Baxter, Liam Beaumont, Ewan Traeger, Jazlyn Nyambura, Wade Attwood, Parker Cassidy, Tyler Nakashima, Gabriel Medina, Niri Shyaka, Sam Stafford, Hye-Jin Song, Alex Vaughn, Issa Johansen, CJ Reynolds, Wendy Amante, Anathi Makeba, Teo Nguyen, Xitlali Zepahua, Atsila McLain, and Raissa Kamanzi. Everyone else is insignificant.
For SOTL, I have so many OCs I have no idea who the relevant ones will be. So far, the most are Jack McDonald, Tierney Wayne, ƚrsula Lobo, Beau Bellerose, and Bai Xue. Again, so far. I have so many characters for this it's not even funny.
And then there's the others from my other works but I'll stop there.
Whoā€™s the most unhinged?
I'm not entirely sure who's the most. Parker is the most chaotic but Carmen is just the character, y'know? Jack I give whoever I want and Zainab of SOTL is pretty insane.
Who comes the most naturally for you to write?
Probably Robbie, honestly. The way his brain works and goes on random tangents is very similar to me. He's like if I was extraverted sometimes.
Do you ever cringe at them?
All the time.
How much control do you feel you have over your characters? Ā AKA, do they ever ā€œwrite themselves,ā€ refuse to cooperate, or do things you didnā€™t expect? To what degree? Are some less cooperative than others?
I only have minimum control. I decide what to do with them but then they say "how about this instead?" And I listen to them all the time. Ash is the most uncooperative one, though. But Noelle has been given me trouble recently. She's told me I need to change her role in Part One. It's frustrating. But awesome.
Interaction
Do you enjoy people asking questions about your characters? And do you have a preferred means of receiving said questions? For example, as Asks, as replies, as reblogs, as tag notes, as comments on AO3, etc.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES I love questions about my characters!! And no I don't have a preference, although AO3 would be hard because I don't have an account. Any way of interacting with me that you can, I love to hear the comments!
What makes you want to follow another Writeblr account? Do you follow ā€˜em as you see ā€˜em, or take time scoping out the blog to make sure you align with its content? Do you follow based on WIPs, or vibes? What makes you decide against following?
I do check the bio and scroll through their blog to see if there's anything I don't like or stands out as stuff. Sometimes it's a writeblr in the bio but I don't see any WIP posting so I don't follow.
Do you interact with non-mutuals often?
Yep! Constantly. Sometimes I forget people aren't mutuals.
Do your mutualsā€™ characters occupy space in your noodle?
Honestly @illarian-rambling's characters are amazing and I finished her manuscript of Mortal God for beta reading and it was awesome.

Hi! I feel like I share your opinions on hotel Transylvania and I would love to know your problems with the films, especially the "zing" concept.
Hey, I'd assume you found me via my recent tweets, because that's first time in ages I shat on Hotel Transylvania!
Tumblr media
I am indeed a proud, card-carrying hater of the first movie (and whole franchise by extension, but never watched the sequels, only the reviews) and would talk about it whenever provoked.
I agree with you, @chinesegal, that the movies were underwhelming, clichƩ and too juvenile. Which would be fine for a movie intended for kids, provided the overall message was wholesome, or at least entirely harmless. Keyword: "would".
I checked and this seems to be the first instance of me talking about HT, 10,5 years ago, and I still stand by those words:
I watched Hotel Transylvania last month and the single thing I hated about it was "LOVE AT THE FIRST SIGHT THE ONLY ONE THAT COUNTS! GO FOR IT OR YOUR LIFE WILL BE RUINED FOREVER! ZING!" moral that popped up at the end.Ā This movie literally just gives love at the first sight name "zing" and shoves how irreplaceableĀ it is up the viewer's throat during the third act.
This is straight up toxic. How THE FUCK did they get away with legitimizing literal love at first sight in the year 2012? And how come so very few people talk at all how messed up this is?
I am still confused why audiences and reviewers were positive towards this. Writing is so bad: annoying characters (especially Mavis's garbage love interest), lackluster worldbuilding (monsters as fantasy racism metaphor is fine, but why waste vampires if they do nothing vampiric?), unfunny jokes.
And while the visuals are... okay, I suppose, neither design nor animation were anything to run home about. A friend with animation degree was always so confused why animation in HT is treated like it was extremely revolutionary. I would not know, but wasn't particularly impressed either. Madagascar and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs beat it to a punch in regards of using 2D design language in 3D animation. Also, early HT concept art was much more interesting than the bland final result (RIP DILF Dracula).
All in all, you want to see a shitty Adam Sandler movie that at least leans into the horror/monster humor, just watch Little Nicky. If you want to see nice animation from Genndy Tartakovsky, then watch pretty much anything he did other than Hotel Transylvania. There will be also much better writing. Samurai Jack, Sym-Bionic Titan and Primal are especially worth anybody's time.

I'm back from GxK!! heres my thoughts
I sadly had quite a bit spoiled but nothing can compare to seeing the movie in person, it was sooo much cooler in the theatre.
I kinda knew going in there wouldn't be much Goji, but I did really like when he was on screen. and tbh I don't quite get why people are villainizing him so hard for killing Scylla?? Like she was just destroying things for funzies. She was causing unneeded destruction so Godzilla had enough of her shit and took her out. Tiamat I can kinda understand but she also could've just ran away instead of fighting him.
His evolved design grew on me HARD, like I almost prefer it to his original design. The pink was soooo cool and I loved the look of his atomic breath, I even liked him being thinner. I adored the glowing eyes too, like that was so fucking cool. I do kinda wish we saw him using his thagomizer but I liked it nevertheless, for me its not about how much we see Godzilla, its about how he's used and I feel like he was used pretty well in this movie.
And I'd also like to issue a formal apology to Kong and his fans. I wasn't familiar with his game. Godzillas still my boy but I ended up really liking Kong, his story was really heartfelt. You could really empathize and relate to Kong throughout the movie, his story, emotions, and everything about him made me really like him, I also loved his bond with Suko.
this is also the first time I've genuinely liked the human characters in a monsterverse movie, really the first time I've actively wanted more of them. Loved Bernie and Trapper, more then I expected too. I assumed Trapper was just gonna be obnoxious since he was in the trailers but I really liked him. Bernie too, liked him a lot more then in GvK. I also ended up liking Jia a lot more then I expected too, she was a cool character. I liked her bonds and connections to the titans.
I do wish we saw more Mothra, but she was great when she was on screen. Loved seeing her and Godzilla on screen together again, I'd love to learn more about Mothra lore in the MV tbh.
As for villains, Skar king was pretty cool. He kinda got shat on in all the trailers so he caught me off guard seeing how ruthless he was, I wouldn't put him above Ghidorah but he was cool. I also liked Shimo and her big ass forehead, her size caught me off guard too, girlies massive. Visibly bigger then both Godzilla and Kong. I genuinely felt bad for her and seeing her get freed + find a new life as Kongs friend made me smile a bit.
I liked (most of) the fights too! I really liked the hollow earth 0 gravity fight, especially Godzillas part in it. I am for sure someone who prefers when the kaiju feel massive and have a ton of weight behind them, but that fight was so cool, Goji was badass and I loved seeing his evolved form in action.
The only fight I didn't like was the fight with Scylla, a 900,000 ton animal cannot move like that. That was a bit too silly even for me, and don't get me wrong I love a bit of silly monster fighting but meh. The godzilla suplex was funny as hell though, for sure unrealistic but funny so it passes. I liked the comedy a lot in the movie tbh, more then the other movies.
Also rq, I don't get why yall were calling the movie ugly?? Like some scenes kinda but it didn't look bad at all. The cgi was fine with me and I don't see why people called it a ps4 game, some shots were a bit wonky but not enough for me to really give a shit.
Overall? pretty good movie, I feel like the pacing could slow down a bit but I genuinely enjoyed myself a lot and had a total blast watching the movie. There was never a dull moment and I'd give it a solid 8/10.

Why do you think Kamala Khan, Miles Morales and Sam Alexander were given their own Teen Titans-equivalent team (the Champions) rather than simply having them join the Young Avengers, who were already popular in their own right?
Bunch of reasons!
Age bracket. Miles and Kamala were introduced in their early teens and had reached their mid teens when the Champions were formed; Young Avengers were by this point college aged.
Tone. The Young Avengers had a long sprawling soap-opera type team history that encouraged relatively meandering interpersonal drama focused storylines, where the team was often its own biggest problem to a higher degree than is usually true of superhero teams. Champions ran to a much faster, punchier narrative that could be fit around the fact that some members had other books they were mains in. And their concept was to do cleaner heroing less tied down by baggage than the Avengers, who'd just shat themselves spectacularly with Civil War II, while the Young Avengers are literally a team about baggage despite none of them initially being real legacy heroes or even having met the Avengers they were riffing on.
Geography. Miles is from Brooklyn and Kamala is from Jersey City and afaik the Champions operated primarily around the greater metro area. It would be weird to write the Young Avengers like that, but disruptive to find a way to keep involving those two when the story didn't stay put. Sam didn't have this limitation, and neither did Viv or afaik Amadeus, but they weren't the big draws.
Marketing. The point of putting Miles and Kamala in the same book, with other heroes their age, is they're the hot new thing people are into, in particular people who were not already part of the Comic Book Purchasing demographic. Young Avengers content is catered foremost to nerds who have been engaged with comics for 20 years; Champions was meant to work as an entry-level title.
Related to all of the above, writing logistics would have been such a pain, trying to satisfy multiple audiences with different stakes in the title and allow Miles and Kamala to headline while also being the babies of a group where they didn't really fit in. Awful idea. Editorial was so correct.
In summary: Did you ever see that short Titans run I believe just after Flashpoint, where DC put Damian on a team mainly staffed with characters from the NTT era for nostalgia cred, so you know people around Dick's age cohort, and had Damian lead it and made characters like Beast Boy happy about being micromanaged by this rude little twerp? Unreadable.
My question was how Marvel had the balls to launch the Champions into a market where they also had a teen-team-style West Coast Avengers book out, the new Wasp running an all-girl team, and a new Runaways book. Actually idk which came first but that's not the point. Like four very different narratives being done but it was still four youth team titles at once, way to splinter your base. Was Disney just running tests on market saturation?

I would love to hear ur kuro thoughts and hcs and fanfic recs sometime!
oh boy i have so manyā€¦ hmm hm mhm ok
PART ONE: thoughts
controversial opinion!! i donā€™t think the undertaker is related to vincent/frances/o!ciel/misc. at least not by blood, but obviously there was something going on with claudia. but i feel like atp in the manga we wouldā€™ve had something more to hint at it like we did with the 2 ciels theory.
uh uh uh i literally almost shat myself when doll came back because WHAT! i missed her sm but i thought likeā€¦ there was no way for her to come back?? but sheā€™s here :) sheā€™ll probably end up dead or getting snake killed though. finny is probably safe in terms of making it to the end of the manga
they should have killed off bard. i love him heā€™s one of my favorite characters but iā€™m tired of the manga not having any REAL stakes. either that or iā€™ve just been watching too much attack on titan/game of thrones recently. but idk killing off bard would have been ROUGH like woah, thatā€™s a key piece to o!ciels success just gone. it would have balanced out the ā€˜winā€™ that o!ciel got with meyrin and ran mao
the chapters are WAYYY too short... like decrease the quality of the work to make more or take longer to release longer chapters pls and thanks. not every panel has to be this beautiful thing it can b a bit rough yana plsā€¦.. waiting on new chapters is GRUEEEEELING LIKE GRUELING. donā€™t get me even started on the last chapter bc what was THAT??? that was literally nothing like nothing, at all. the last two/three chapters should have been just one
PART TWO: headcanons
ronald died due to dick in lawnmower and that technically counted as offing himself bc it was 100% his fault
sebastian can taste food like a person can heā€™s just 1. not used to it 2. an asshole
o!ciel on multiple occasions has swiped everything off his desk, called sebastian into his room, and made him pick everything up and put it back EXACTLY where it was and if sebastian fucks it up o!ciel makes him start over
finny wasnā€™t allowed inside the manor for 2 weeks after he got his head stuck between the bannisters
lizzys favorite color is green
PART THREE: fanfic recs
so tbh i donā€™t consume a lot of fanfic for kuro just because filtering out all the garbage cuts out MOST fics on ao3, and i wouldnā€™t touch wattpad with a ten foot pole (iā€™m too lazy to figure out ff.net)
some fics i enjoy that you probably already know about are:
Coattails by @pain-in-the-butler
this is literally classic kuro fanfic like this is THEE fanfic for this fandom (but itā€™s highly likely you know this) i have a huge special interest in late victorian history in general so i very much appreciate the lengths the author goes to to make things feel authentically victorian :)
New Life; Cool Life by Rhonda
itā€™s very interesting and special to me !! itā€™s pretty dark but not terribly so, and it has some great character exploration for grelle and o!ciel. very au but feels like canon characters
Front Page News by TheArchaeologist
i like fics where sebastian gets the crap knocked out of him. great ensemble fic with focus on the servants :)
Staring Contest by BrainExhaustionGodStan
focus on bard but just a SMIDGE of dadbastian which is great
One is One, and All Alone by @pain-in-the-butler
oh my god another banger fic by my favorite kuro author wow. this one is a cool little snippet of r!ciel and o!ciel if they ended up going to weston. rlly cute very wholesome but with some angst ! but itā€™s hurt/comfort

How about MCU wongstrange? What was your first impression of them? Any headcanons?
I want to to know more, of what you see. Because for me personally, I think I ship them after mom. And I wonder if I missed more than two moments or scenes that flew over me
Hello Hi!
You came to the right place. Because I jumped on the WongStrange Bandwagon before No Way Home Iā€™ve had plenty of time to analyse past content and also pick out bits from recent films which I thought were fruity!
Iā€™ve just compiled the images in my camera roll because I canā€™t be bothered screenshotting and looking up all the scenes, I hope thatā€™ll suffice!
Doctor Strange 2016
If Iā€™m being completely honest, Mordo and Stephen have a better dynamic in this movie, but Wong still has his moments! Obviously the iconic BeyoncĆ© scene, the weirdly tense library interactions, Stephen reviving Wong and Wong trusting him without hesitation etc etc.Ā
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This deleted scene as well. Rolling on the floor crying. This also sort of confirms theyā€™re living together in the sanctum now, so thatā€™s also a thing.
Multiverse of Madness 2022 This movie was kinda shit, but we got some pretty decent bits all things aside. Their overall banter and dynamics are fantastic at times, and whoever made their outfit colors so fucking complimentary deserves a wet sloppy kiss.
Tumblr media
Why are there so many shots of them looking at each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly I canā€™t even describe this one. Why is he looking at him like that.
Tumblr media
Christine tells him to face his fears so he immediately opens up a little to Wong and trusts him. Okay. Cool. Okay.
Tumblr media
And of course the bow scene. Peak symbolism regarding his respect towards Wong and his growth as a man. His eyes remain fixed on Wong when he does this and I think they were insane for this. I fucking love this scene.
Infinity War
Not much content in this because Wong peaces out like two seconds into appearing, but we get some good shit in that time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Matching battle stances are so romantic, boys.
Thatā€™s the only stuff Iā€™ve got, but honorable mentions is that this further confirms Wong and Stephen now live together in the sanctum. The money and tuna melt banter at the start, Wong saying that the Hulk Ice cream isĀ ā€˜our favoriteā€™ implying ice cream nights and a conversation where they have confirmed to each other that that flavor is their favorites. Marvel I just want to talk, please, I just want to talk about Sanctum Sanctorum ice cream night please.
Endgame
I also donā€™t have any images for Endgame, but the fact that Wong likely organised the majority of the portal scene makes me yell. Due to Stephen reappearing on Titan (as seen in his entrance scene) it implies that he had to have had communications with Wong previous to dusting. Because of his lack of presence he wouldnā€™t have been able to have actually put anything into action, thus Wong has to be responsible for the most iconic scene in the MCU!!!
The fact that theyā€™re such a power duo offscreen and unknowingly carry the whole battle is insane to me and no one talks about it.
No Way Home
Banger film. Great WongStrange moments.
Tumblr media
Marvel tell us what happened at the full moon party IMPOSSIBLE edition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stephen using puppy eyes to fucking win Wong over to let him use a dangerous reality warping spell. You know, just a casual Tuesday. AHHHHHH AHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHH.
Also introduces Sorcerer Supreme Wong which I shat my pants about. I adore that they let him be Sorcerer supreme but dearly wish they took him more seriously. But weā€™re not here to talk about that. Onto the next.
What Ifā€¦? Doctor Strange lost his heart and not his hands.
God I remember the soul shattering experience this was when it came out. The WongStrange content was surprisingly nourishing though.
Tumblr media
ā€˜Weā€™veā€™ been through weirder.
Tumblr media
Stephen putting aside his crippling heartache for Christine just to save Wong? Like not even considering the actual rest of the world thatā€™s fading outside? Okay. Cool. Cool. Okay.
Tumblr media
Wong also is the one to comfort Stephen about Christine and is a part of the pinnacle point in time determining wether Stephen uses the timestone and turns into Strange Supreme or not.Ā
Now the second two arenā€™t technically a part of the MCU, but they are related to it. I donā€™t know where theyā€™re to be put in the MCU category but they exist so Iā€™ll consider them canon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This book is just silly and goofy. No comments just read it for yourself.
Infinity War Prelude 2
This comic is so overlooked, and I donā€™t know why. The Doctor Strange Prelude is as well. They kinda do Wong dirty with the art, but the content is pretty cool. Also gives us an insight into Ragnorok and just how the sorcerers operate.
Tumblr media
Wong casually recounting Stephenā€™s whole journey for no reason.
Tumblr media
I just like them in this panel tbh. Stephen is kinda scrumpled.
Tumblr media
Stephen pulling a John Watson with theĀ ā€œstop being mysteriousā€ thing. Implying Wong has been cryptic and mysterious enough for Stephen to recognize this as a character attribute.
Thatā€™s all I have, honestly Iā€™m too tired to come up with a capping off statement, but I hope this pile of various moments is enough! The MCU is yet to really explore their dynamic, and let alone Wong as a character, so Iā€™m excited (and a bit afraid after MoM) to see where it goes!

I forgot.....
How truly pissed off I am at the ending of Attack on Titan.Ā
I knew it was going to be awful when the manga ending came out, but it was HOW it was bad that left me absolutely baffled.Ā
I saw it as the only time I was ever personally vindicated on how bad Isayamaā€™s final arcs were, because I was not the only one who disliked it. Pisses me off that even now, the fans still want to see the anime ending of this as if anything will change. Even after:Ā
ā€œThank you, you became a mass murderer to save us.ā€Ā  And how the ending basically shat upon the efforts of all the fallen characters. And thatā€™s what REALLY pisses me off about this ending. That their sacrifices felt meaningless and what they fought for was completely betrayed. The main struggle of the series was completely betrayed, through whatever the flying fuck happened with Eren and the Rumbling.Ā
I will say without any remorse that the decision to make him evil was a bad call that didnā€™t pay off in the end, Fans are jizzing themselves senseless and making complete asses of themselves hyping up the ending......And in the end thatā€™s all theyā€™ll be for it, complete asses for indulging Isayama who didnā€™t care enough to complete something more cohesive without inviting a DEBATE ON THE VALIDITY OF GENOCIDE.Ā
Season Four is a BASTARDIZATION.Ā
Shame on you if youā€™re watching the ending unironically, all with your Gabi Braun fucking pals. Leave life now. And that goes double for Hajime Isayama. Fuck him until he canā€™t pick up a pencil.Ā
This story ended with the Ocean.Ā

I canā€™t handle the fact that Isyama confirmed that the scouts has Doo-Doo stains in their underwear and never cleans them. It haunts me whenever I read ff
i mean if there was a titan right in front of me i would've SHAT my pants ykwim
but u know when i was watching erwin's death on tv i had this intrusive thought that perhaps floch was carrying him and his wet pee pee. and when he raised his hand as a final hallucination his pop came along with it

@normaltothemax: how about something angsty? something to do with failure or something idk
the ashen taste of failure. novelists love that shit. they'll sit in the dark of their rooms or the gaudy yellow lights of a coffee shop for hours trying to put it in their own words, rolling their tongues along the ridges of their teeth to stir up a taste more poetic than the acid of their own spit, to really feel what they say their protagonists do. prettying up misery to package and sell, because who the fuck would want to read it if they were to come right out and say "some seventy year old git who just boked in the station toilet has been riding a train with no destination for hours, and if you ask him, he's pretty sure he's been on that train his whole fucking life"?
( yeah. he wouldn't read it either. )
if there is someone writing his life, trying to feed 'failure' into the flavor grinder, they don't have to try hard to come up with the 'ashen' part. it clings to him like a lover, like a second skin, like film stretched over leftovers you've already forgotten about and won't find again until the stench of rot starts to leak out the gaps around the door of the fridge. ash on his fingers, on his tongue, on his coat. ash in his wake, a long, slithering trail ā€” bridges and lives and bodies and rules. cigarette stubs in the windowsill. every car's a non-smoking car these days, but since when has that ever stopped a determined enough wheezing working man from lighting up? never stopped him. there's precious little that does.
and that's the fucking problem right there, isn't it? nothing stopping him. people too shit-scared to get in his way. plenty of high-and-mighty fuckers to tell him off after he's done, oh sure; parades of angry scoffs and disapproving looks, fingers stuck in his face and punches to be thrown. but not a single fucker to hold him back when the tide is rising and he's still charging down the beach to kick sand in someone else's face. no one who can change his mind once it's been made up. no one who wants to make the plan, break the rules, take the dive, push the big red button. to fail. fucking sycophants and cowards with 20/20 hindsight, dooming him to lose again and again and again.
( sure, make it about everyone else but you, constantine. make it anyone else's fault but yours.
pretend like the only reason you're still shoveling the shit is because the nasty mean world won't take the spade away from you, pretend like being the only one for the job isn't exactly what you fucking wanted all along.
congratulations, con job: you're special. now fucking live with it. )
the ashen taste of failure. does failure leave the taste behind, or does the ash come first? does fate rub his nose in it once they've learned he's shat the carpet, or does it sprinkle down across his shoulders like powdery snow as soon as he steps outside, marking him for an inevitable fuck-up?
would it be easier to know that there really is someone writing his life, and that every ounce of burning shame sent to sear the back of his throat with each new drag on that ashen taste serves a purpose, eventually? it's all in the plot, you didn't get another friend killed for nothing. just the plot, putting your family into early graves and sinking your mind like a stone down the throat of your own titanic ego, until it chokes on unreality and the new god penance ascends the throne. a mechanism to get you from point A to B with narrative swiftness so the audience won't get fucking bored, so you'll find that next convenient little nugget of resolve and grow up a bit just as you were meant to, just in time to pull yourself together for the next big event.
except, he doesn't know what point B looks like. skipped the briefing, missed the stop. left all the resolve behind. someone else can go pan for it, find him a reason to change, hoard it or sell it or turn it into something worth keeping, something that might change the text on his tombstone from THAT BASTARD CONSTANTINE into SOMEONE WHO HAD SOMETHING TO GIVE, but for now, there's nowhere to go: there's only the act of going. only him and this train, and the fact that inevitably, eventually, it will stop. it has to, right? he can't continue like this forever. like chewing gum, he can't maintain the taste.
( why not? nothing stopping him. )
pull the e-brake. let him off here. something's burning, and he's pretty sure it's his life: going up in smoke, like every good thing he's ever touched. like bridges, and bodies, and rules.
hey, writer up there. do you taste that, when you roll your tongue around, stinging where you cracked open that split lip? tastes like seventy years of salt, doesn't it? when you press your hands to your eyes, can you feel ridges and scars doing the same, squeezing vitreous fluid up against your optic nerve? when you breathe, does your heart beat so fucking fast, so fucking hungry for that stolen air, that it feels like dying? does it feel like you've been losing for decades, yourself and other people, hopes and compassion and desperate fucking dreams clawing up out of your lungs in bits and pieces, and you can never spare the time to pick any of them up because the next one's already on its way?
failure doesn't taste like ash. novelists love that shit because it's easy, pre-packaged. failure tastes like this: salt his pride won't name as tears, and acid spit, and the last gasp of a low-tar cigarette on a train to nowhere, in a life maintained on the knowledge that as sad and sorry as he feels for himself now, he is probably yet to do his worst.
. . . yeah. you're right. he doesn't fucking like that ending either.
( nothing stopping him from changing it. )
