#shame plug

So I have been working on a fanfic recently (Cough, cough shameless plug: here) And felt I needed to an update the appearance of an old OC of mine that will eventually, (it's a long series in the works) show up.

Nanobyte.

Firstborn child of AndrAIa and Megabyte. The Apple of her mother's eye and the Ire of her Father's. Older sister to Nidra (Sister) and Nicodemus (Brother) She is the only child AndrAIa let Megabyte name after himself. He expected a son, and being a troll, she did not feel the need to let him know a head of time the baby was a girl.

Her relationship with her father is clearly strained, as she represents everything he is against. Most importantly though he feels it's a betrayal to her code and viral heritage that she decided to become a guardian despite his attempts to prevent her from becoming one (Good thing Bob is the current Prime Guardian and willing to help a girl out.)

Nanobyte has the personality that I feel is a combination of Rapunzel from Tangled, Nimona from Nimona and Korra from TLOK. She is kind, passionate, hot headed, excitable and a believer in justice and hope and that good will conqueror over evil. Hobbies include painting, pottery, singing and training to be the best Guardian she can be and hopefully convince the council she is trustable enough to have her own keytool. Her current residence is Mainframe, in the ruins of her Aunt's tower.

Nanobyte is considered viral by the net, not a virus, meaning she is incapable of infecting things. She does however, have access to a wide variety of powers from her parentage: Flying, control over fire (like almost bending in the Avatar sense but also she can turn herself into a flame and teleport between fires), almost complete immunity to fire damage (explosions don't count), and above normal strength. The sword, I know is weird but that's because that's so she can force her flame powers through it for added fun. Nothing like being cleaved by a flaming sword. She is not Luisa level strong but she can lift a house if needed. For all these reasons, Megabyte almost considers her Hexadecimal reincarnated.

He does love his daughter, but they both don't know how to communicate properly and both are stubborn and that has led to what once was just a crack between them turning into a giant chasm. AndrAIa has tried to get them to repair their relationship but Megabyte just doesn't realize the pain he's causing his daughter. Something will have to give eventually....

Guys I found a gender non conforming music artist who makes suuuuch good music I am a huge fan oh my gods I love them so much. They're super synthy and take inspiration from 80s era music and we all know that's the good shit.

Goddd, love my luck that whenever I start up some project that is actually important to me and that I'd want to do well, SOMEHOW all my links and redirects get broken. No clue how. I had the most timepass wordpress blog in the world back in my teens, its SEO is so tip-top that you could google certain snippets from it and it would still show up as the top result. I had a secret poetry blog I hid from everyone bc cringe right. It's still the first search result when you look it up. I was like 'say what you will, wordpress' SEO works.'

Then I made the music magazine! You could literally put the entire site URL into google and you'll never find it. You might even find tumblr posts linking to it! My tumblr is literally set to 'discourage search' bc I don't want IRL people finding me here, but what do you know! SEO on it is TOPS. You can find the IG account telling people to go read it, though lord knows why Instagram decided links were anathema and outlawed them. But crucially. You cannot go to the site from Google. i.e. the way most people GET to things. (I asked in the wordpress forums, no one can help with it. The Search Engine Moves In Mysterious Ways.)

Also my radio show podcast is on Acast but CANNOT BE FOUND BY ACAST LISTENERS. Incredible. The internal discovery DOES recommend my show to people who like similar stuff automatically, but the link is then BROKEN. Fun times. They've found my show but can't listen to it. I've asked customer support and heard chirping crickets.

So idk, I'm just fucking annoyed at my luck. These were the things that mattered to me. These were the projects I want to like, build a career on. It's so crushing that it's happened twice. I don't know what to say. The discovery section is so important for a small journalist (media producer? Music journalist? 'Creator'? Bleh) to be able to find any audience at all.

You know what's so interesting in light of all that, is how much being on Tumblr has oddly helped me 'grow'. It's sort of just been about finding likeminded people and we all just enable each other, don't we? Surprisingly, me doing no promotion at all has been the thing that's found me the best music fellas. Though obviously I understand why bigger shows cannot hope to build a sustainable following off of that.

Anyway, I'll be here ranting, I'm just going to try and polish up a few more articles that no one can google and I'll try and send them to a real magazine and see if I can write for them in my town. They get federal grants, so I can try and pull them up over their lack of coverage of our city's music scene. let's see.

For the past... week? I've been kinda wanting to replay MGS*V. But I hate that goddamn game so fucking much it's insane. It wilted my crops and killed my cattle almost ten years ago and I haven't forgotten it's sins since. But the sad thing is that it probably has my favourite gameplay out of the entire series. Loved the sneaking, loved the combat, loved the companions, loved the micromanaging of your staff. But the story and the way characters are written/treated is so dogshit imho I'm not sure I'm strong enough to actually go through with it. But the thought of it has been rotting my brain for a while and idk what to do about it.
