one day, something will happen to you. and none will know. you will be all alone.

"Was t'at suppose t'make me break? Try again, I know you can do better t'an t'at."

This song and dance was nothing new to the echidna. How many times had they tried to get under his skin? How many times had they tried to poke and prod at him to make him squirm? Trying to dig their claws into him and render whatever scrape they could chew on. Mephiles should've know by now — he wasn't going to be able to break him that easily.

Oh no, Knuckles wasn't about to let him have any sort of power over him. Not by a long shot. Try digging, try clawing, try tearing at his insecurities, his fears, his worries. He wasn't going to give him an inch with any of them. No, he wasn't going to let him have that. His gaze firm and strong as they pierced into the other, stoic as ever and not letting him see past their barriers.

One side of his lips quirked up, his gaze turning to amusement as a brow raised. Oh, something just dawned on Knuckles.

"Don't tell me — "

how would you feel? if someone killed your family?

Cream paused, her hand frozen over the flower that she had just plucked from the ground, planning to add to the flower crown she was crafting when the question was asked to her... Her brown eyes slowly shifted towards his direction and on him.

Her expression was unreadable besides a small frown on her muzzle.

How would she feel? Didn’t she come close already to losing them? A feeling that stuck to her like sludge and made her feel queasy… A feeling that gripped her throat and threatened to choke her.

She hated that feeling.

“..... I… Wouldn’t know… I don’t really think about those things.” The rabbit spoke softly; her eyes shifting away from Mephiles. 

“I know I don’t like it… I already felt what it’s like to nearly lose my mom, Cheese and Chocola… As well when Gemerl got hurt… But for them to be gone forever…” Her voice trailed off; dropping the flower crown against the grass below them.

“I don’t think I would be able to handle it…”

The knight's words don't have much emotion to them, but the truth is he's mourned countless of his comrades, young and old. He's not about to make the mistake of not being in control of the situation. That's why he's sometimes a little.. pushy.

          Lancelot lowers himself on one knee so that he could examine the wounded Mordred better.. but this would certainly be easier if he had the permission to touch him. "I know I'm no healer but.. are you truly not going to let me have a look?" The visor was lifted, revealing piercing red eyes ( the devil some would call him ) but his expression is quite gentle.. and anything but malicious. A hand reached into a pouch on his hip. He should have some healing water with him..

"This?" Shadow looks to the scepter in his hands, then up to Mephiles. He doesn't know why, exactly, but knows something about it is familiar. Every time Mephiles shows himself Shadow can remember who and when and what he is, but there are still things that come and go...seems like the scepter is a missing piece of the puzzle. Whatever Shadow once did with this, it's obviously been a pain point for the half-god. "No, I'll be holding onto it."

anything else i want you to know about me / my character / my shipping habits: ( you already know I will jumpscare you with a mix of pain suffering and wholesome whenever we ship stuff - although I can't see ANYTHING wholesome coming from infinite and mephiles having a thing LOL )

General thoughts about their dynamic: it can go a multitude of ways - heavily depends on the universal context as we know memento is highly protective of the shadow in his universe, and so if they are from the same dimension - knowing what infinite does to shadow would immediately land him on mephiles's shitlist. I think the only way they could have a genuinely "romantic" relationship would probably have to be where they stumble across one another in their multidimensional travels and bond over hating shadow and also being Fucking Crazy (toxic yaoi moment GJDJFH) - I can see Infinite subconsciously projecting this perception on Mephiles however, in a way using him as a way to live out his weird fucking obsession with Shadow - because Mephiles looks just like Shadow and that would make this dynamic even more messed up lol. Expect grandeous gestures and a borderline yandere type of attachment, Mephiles. that's what you sign up for when you enter the jackal's ranks.

the voice was unnerving to say the least, sending a slight shiver down his spine and causing tiny bumps on the surface of his skin. years of chaotic shenanigans and various unpleasant experiences has taught him how to maintain an indifferent facial expression, even in the face of danger.

and his instincts were definitely screaming at him about how dangerous this newcomer is.

“am i?” a brow raises up ever so slightly, the brunette turns to face the newcomer—though shorter than himself, this individual carries an insurmountable amount of power. yet, the doctor remains ever so calm—just another tally of life throwing absolute chaos in his face and leaving him to deal with the aftermath.

“i wasn’t aware.” both sets of arms crossed, corvus tilts his head as he examines the powerful stranger. “what can this curiousity do for you?” he pauses slightly, continuing before the other could respond. “maybe i can get a name?”
