🐰Day 6 of the #shepropchallenge, is “Sewing you are most proud of” • My Couture De Force Alice is hands down my favorite, cleanest, and also most complicated sewing I’ve completed so far. • There’s a Victorian era corset with lots of hand-sewing/flossing, a cage crinoline with decorative stitching, two petticoats to hide the cage, and since these photos I’ve made a Victorian style chemise that’s worn under the corset. The entire outer dress was self-patterned, mostly because nothing existed in the shape I needed, and it was a really good learning experience! I taught myself the slash and spread method for the bodice. This baby has lots and lots of math ✨ • I initially made her for the D23 Mousequerade in 2019 and she was also supposed to be competing for the 2020 Western Championships of Cosplay at ECCC this year. Foam Case Tutorial 🦄 ~ : I made a case for my IPad out of high density foam and unicorn fabric 🦄 I thought it would be fun to share how I did it since you can use this method for just about anything ! ~ : Picture 2 Take a foam piece and lay the item on top. Trace around it with a sharpie and add about a inch to the sides. Cut it out. ~ : Picture 3 Take fabric of choice, make sure it’s non stretchy, And fold it in half. Trace around the foam piece and then add 3 inches to the top and 2 inches to the sides. ~ : Picture 3 Lay foam piece on top of the wrong side of your outside fabric. Lay lining fabric wrong side down onto the foam make sure lining fabric is larger to be able to wrap it around the foam. Meet the edges of the fabrics and pin. Sew all the way around at the edge of the presser foot encasing the foam. : ~ Picture 4 At the top where there is 3 inches of length sew on a zipper, joining the tops. Then fold pieces of foam right sides together and sew the three remaining sides at 1/2 inch. ~ : And your done !
