Hello! How are you? :D For the "fanfic end of the year asks", can you please answer numbers 1, 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 24 and 25?
Hi Anon! 🥰 I've been good, thank you. Are you doing well?
Ah, so I realized while looking back that I didn't actually write as much as I did in 2021, so this will probably be very repetitive, and I'm so sorry for that! But I still wanted to answer as best as I could (: Thank you so much for your ask! *insert hugging gif* 😄
Questions/Answers:
1. favorite fic you wrote this year - My favorite fic would be By Your Side, my neighbor!San fic. It's my first ATEEZ story, and writing for a different group was a lot of fun. Plus, I was really soft writing it, so I'm glad it was received well 💖
5. most popular fic this year - My most popular fic was By Your Side with 815 notes c: Runner up was In Your Web (spiderman!Jungkook) with 767 notes! Thank you to everyone who supported me! 😁
6. least popular fic this year - My least popular "fic" was everywhere you go (spiderman!Jungkook). It's a social media au, so maybe it doesn't count as a fic but I'll bend the rules a little hehe. It has 73 notes and was my first sm au ever. Maybe it's because I'm a perfectionist, but it took me a while to edit it, so kudos to all my sm au writers out there 😅
7. longest completed fic you wrote this year - My longest fic would be In Your Web with 10k ^-^ woo! It has been a while since I hit double-digits in wc, so I was really trying hard to achieve that again. I'm very happy I did!
14. a fic you didn’t expect to write - Requests are always unexpected so Forever (dancer!Jimin; Drifting couple) and Your Light were not planned! However, an unexpected fic that was not requested was Torn (Mingi). Per my author's note, I was just in the mood to write more ATEEZ, and that's what came out of it.
15. something you learned this year - Kim Hongjoong is the loml Something that I learned is this:
Tumblr media
This was extremely inspiring to read. It's especially motivating to learn that I've written one novel already! That was shocking to learn 😂 It wasn't published this year, but I'll still include it. It's my spiderman!Jungkook series called Warning Signs with 46.5k! Please give it some love if it's something you'd like to read <3
24. favorite fic you read this year - This question excites me greatly! This is actually probably my favorite fanfic ever, and I've been reading fanfic for years. It's called pirate king and is an ATEEZ fic written by @chaseatinydream. It's also on AO3, which is where I read it. This story will pop into my head at random times, and I've been tempted to reread it because it was so captivating. You can read my full review of it, but in short, it was incredible and I stayed up several nights binging it all 🤩
25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read - Besides pirate king, I'll recommend three because I've already broken the rules in the previous questions lol, and I want to give a majority of my fandoms some love.
*Please check the fics for more details.
My first recommendation is The Boy by @milfgyuu! It's a The Boyz Sunwoo fic. Lana wrote Sunwoo so accurately and it drove me crazy (in a good way heh). After reading this, I can't drive past a car wash peacefully. I just keep thinking of Sunwoo. IT'S NOT HEALTHY, BUT ALSO THANK YOU? You can read my full review, but it does contain spoilers! I need more Sunwoo fics in my life guys. TRULY. I swear I'll write one eventually.
My second recommendation is push it down (sooner or later it all comes out) by @dontflailmenow. It's a camboy!(Seveteen) Seungcheol series. I'm so smitten with Seungcheol, so this series really has me by the throat I swearrrrr. A review for the first chapter can be read as well as the other parts on my fic rec blog. Again, it has spoilers so beware.
My third recommendation is crema (review link) by @inkedtae for all my army followers. It's a Jungkook fic and really... steamy 😆 The writing was great, and it was a lovely read.
Please give all the authors some love (through reblogs as it's the best way to support them) if you read their works! 💕
Thank you again, anon! 😍 This was my first end-of-the-year ask game. It was fun to reflect on what I've done in 2022. I hope I can write more next year and do another game similar to this in the future.
edited 12/28/22 because I forgot about a fic 🥴

Run to you
Chapter 1
Summary + genre + other to read on
Warnings: swearing, mentions of death, angst, fluff
Word count: 10k
A quaint suburban home located in a family-friendly neighborhood. That’s the kind of comfort to come back to from an 8 to 6 career.
You sighed aloud, leaning yourself into the groove of the couch as you lay your head backward. Shutting your eyes for a moment. Softly exhaling when you hear the front door open, taking a mental note in your mind at who that could be.
“Lee Chan, where have you been for the past two nights?” You say with eyes still shut. Your teeth are gritting tight as you continue to breathe out softly.
It's been quite a long time already since both of your parents passed away in a car accident. Five years to be exact. From a drunk driver, when they went to visit your aunt and uncle, they were heading home when the accident happened, and Chan was only 15 years old then. After that incident, you become hyper-aware of your surroundings and environment, always tense and wary of vehicles. Even your own, having to check every little detail of your car before work. Sometimes, you couldn't even drive it and end up taking the public bus or letting Chan drive you to work while he goes to his class.
You opened your eyes as you met his gaze. He had walked over into the living room, sitting on the armrest with a dashing grin on his face.
“I am fine. I was at Hansol's place. We have a midterm next Monday, and I know you're going to get on my ass if I fail.” Chan drops down from the armrest as he scoots closer to you. His charming smile was still playing on his lips as he widened his eyes in terms of trying to make puppy dog eyes, and he knew if he kept that up, you would eventually calm down.
And you did, because Chan is your baby brother, and no matter how protective you are of him, you know that he won't do anything stupid. Well, you hope he wouldn't.
“Alright. Sorry for overthinking. I just don't want anything happening to you.” You sat up from the couch, taking his hand into yours and curling your fingers with his. Feeling the callus forming on his hand, turning his palm over as you examine them. Slightly frowning at it as he quickly removed his hand away from you. He hid his hands behind his back.
"Y/n, look, uhm, it's nothing okay. Just a lot of studying and note-taking." Chan lied. Not wanting you to worry even more.
He's been working part-time at this automotive repair shop. It pays well, and the environment is friendly, to his knowledge. He ended up working there mainly to help pay for the house and other utilities. He didn’t like seeing how exhausted you were after some nights of coming home from work.
At first, he was going to work part-time at a restaurant, however, it was one day after finishing his classes. He, Hansol, and Seungkwan heard of a place from some of their classmates, and curious about it they drove to the said place. To which was the race site his boss and his group took part. That day, Chan fell in love with racing and sports cars. The adrenaline from the accelerated speed the cars were going, the loud cheers from the spectators, and the car show that they had on the side. Everything about the street racing world piqued his interest, and he knew that you would detest it, so he kept the part-time job a secret.
You stare at him not backing down because you knew when he was lying and vice versa. Sighing out softly, you plant your hands onto your thighs.
“Chan. The callus from note-taking would be on your fingers; however, you have them all around your palm and fingers. So obviously, you're lying to me. Where is this job that hired you? Is it safe? Is your boss nice? How much are they paying you?” You bombarded him with questions as he shot up his hands at you to slow down and calm down.
“Woah, y/n, calm down. Breathe in and out.”
You slowly copy him, breathing in and out softly as you settle back down to calmness. Watching him with adoration at how mature and big he has gotten. Tears now forming in your eyes at the thought of your parents. Knowing that they would be proud of Chan as well. Softly sniffling as you wipe your eyes with the back of your hand. Having calmed down, you wait for Chan to answer your questions.
“I started working this spring. I thought it would be a good opportunity; you know. Learning about the workforce before graduating from university. And the people I work for are nice and my boss is super nice. He treated us to dinner. For the pay, since I am a part-timer, it's minimum wage, but my boss said if, after I graduate and come on full-time, my wage would be $22 an hour.”
You sat on the couch in stillness, processing Chan's words. Part-time working while he's still a university student? Even with your full-time job, you were exhausted. How is Chan not exhausted?
“Alright. I get the learning experience, and that's wonderful. I am genuinely-ish proud of you. But where is this employment of yours?”
“Uh, you see, it's actually, well, it is an automotive repair shop. Again! It is a good learning opportunity; remember that.” He spoke highly at the last part, enhancing that it isn't a bad job and that it's an okay job to work at.
“You are part-timing at an auto repair shop? Have you learned anything from repairing cars?” You ask. Gently biting down on your bottom lip.
“Actually, yes. My boss teaches me quite well. I already learned how to change oil in cars. He knows a lot about cars and motorcycles; he owns like three vehicles. It was exhilarating, the wind in your hair and the speed -” Chan stopped himself as his face grew pale, realizing what he just said. Gulping visibly hard as he stared at you, your own face expressionless.
“Shit, shit, why did I say that out loud?” He thought to himself. Mentally smacking himself around.
“Exhilarating? Speed?” You question. Still expressionless as you piece the puzzle together in your mind. “Tell me, you did not ride one of those fancy sports cars?”
“I did not ride a fancy sports car,” Chan says. The color on his face returned as you let out a soft breath to calm down.
“It was a motorcycle,” he whispered. Lowering his head as he waits for an explosion of concerns coming from you. “But I swear, I was safe. My boss taught me what to do and what not to do. And the people I work with are all really good, they also taught me.”
“A motorcycle? Why would your boss let you ride it? Who the fuck is your boss!” You yell. Fist clenching tight on your thigh as you stare at Chan. Your mind is going into overthinking mode, coming up with scenarios of Chan on a motorcycle. Speeding in the streets with its two wheels and its small design.  “Does he know how old you are?”
That triggered Chan as he looked at you, astonished and baffled. His mouth hung open slightly, his brows furrowed as he stood up from the couch. Sweeping his fingers through his hair as he let out a loud huff of air.
“Nuna, do you even know how old I am? You still treat me like a kid. You still give me a curfew and lecture me about the dangers of society. I am 20 fucking years old! When are you going to treat me like an adult? If mom and dad were here, they would support me!”
“I–” you were stunned silent at hearing Chan's outburst. “Do not bring mom and dad into this! Even if they were here, they still want you to be safe. Not riding a dangerous motorcycle.” Your tone of voice rose at the mention of your parents.
“Yeah, I understand that a motorcycle can be dangerous, but I learn the safety procedures before even riding it. And at least mom and dad wouldn't be hardasses like you are being. You're unreasonable! Mom and dad would have reasons! They would have been reasonably protective. You are just being a tyrant.” Chan huffed out as he stepped away from you. Gathering his jacket and keys as he heads out the front door.
He had a point to it all: he was 20 years old now, and you can't baby him forever. But deep down, you couldn't help yourself. Afraid of losing the last person you love, the last person in your family. When your parents passed away and you received the news of it, you barely shed a tear in front of Chan. Playing the big sister role to seem brave and responsible whilst he sleeps, you did, in fact, shed the tears you held back.
Sitting on the couch by yourself as you stare at the front door, waiting to see if he would come back inside and the both of you would hug it out. Your heart was swelling and aching at having done that to him. Maybe you were an overly bearing and protective guardian. Remembering all the memories of Chan going out with friends and going to parties. Every time he wanted to hang out with his friends, he would ask and beg multiple times, giving you an ultimatum for going out with his friends. Even when he enrolled in university, it took you many months to trust Hansol and eventually Seungkwan.
Shutting your eyes briefly as tears roll down your cheeks. Exhaling lightly, you stood up from the couch, wiping your tears away as you gathered your keys and phone into your purse and headed out the door. Dialing Chan's number as you get into your car.
“Please, Chan,” you whispered. The tears silently fell from your eyes as the anxiety of thinking of something bad happening to him. Losing the last lifeline of your family. “Chan.” You pleaded in tears, grasping the steering wheel tight in your hands as you drove out of the driveway. Constantly calling his number but all goes straight to voice mail.
You drove aimlessly, going down the streets where Chan would have likely gone but no sign of him. This resorts to your last attempt of dialing him, but giving up on that as you end up calling Hansol instead. On the third ring, he picked up.
“Hey Hansol, it’s Y/n, I’m wondering, is Chan with you?” You ask, your voice cracking from crying all over town and searching for him.
“No. Chan isn't with me; did you try calling his workplace?” Hansol asks, sounding a bit aloof and confused from your sudden call.
“I actually don't have his workplace number. If you perhaps have it, may I?”
After Hansol gave you the number to Chan's workplace, you drove out of the streets and into a random parking lot, dialing the number that Hansol gave you. You waited patiently, breathing in and out as it rang. When the ringing stopped and a soft voice came over the other line, you straightened your posture and cleared your throat.
“Hello, this is Joshua from SVT's Garage Emporium. Are you in need of vehicle assistance or to vamp up your vehicle?” said the man over the phone.
“Hello, Joshua. I’m sorry for this call but it is rather urgent. I’m Y/n and I’m wondering if Chan is there? I am his sister, and I don't know where he went.” Your voice cracked again, sniffling in between words as your thoughts of bad things appeared in your mind.
“Oh. Chan? Uh, yeah, he is here. He did look a little down when he got here, but Seungcheol took him out, so technically, he isn't here, but he was.” Joshua chuckled. “If you want Seungcheol's number, I can give it to you, or I could give you the address to our place. Whichever works for you.”
“Seungcheol's number would be nice. Does he work there, too?” You ask. Knowing that Chan was right, the place he found to work part-time was a nice environment with nice people.
“Alright. I will give you his number. And sure, you can say that, but Seungcheol is actually our boss.”
You stared at the phone number inputted in your phone, reluctant to press the call button. Afraid of what to say and how to say it. Staring out of the window, the setting sun was dipping lower as you sucked in a breath and called his number. He picked up on the first ring, which surprised you.
“Hello?” Seungcheol answered, not knowing who was calling him.
“Hi. Is this Seungcheol? I'm Y/n, Chan's sister, and I just want to know how Chan is doing? I know he's probably still upset and probably wouldn't want to see me right now, but I can't help but be protective of him. Could you tell him that I'm sorry and that for the past five years, I have been trying to lessen things. It's just hard to do because of love.” You held back your tears as you pulled yourself away from the phone to let out a soft whimper, not wanting Seungcheol to hear you cry because that would be embarrassing since you never met.
“I could tell him that. But shouldn't you say all those things to him, yourself? Like in person? I'm bringing him back to the garage in an hour.” Seungcheol said, his voice sounded comforting and soothing and had that warm toffee feel to it. “I'll give you the address to our garage. I hope to see you there. I think you and Chan need it.” He sent you the address as you stared at it while inputting it into your navigation device on your car.
You arrived at the garage, waiting in your car as you were hesitant to go inside. Afraid Chan was already inside or not since Seuncheol sent you the address about half an hour ago. Gathering your thoughts in your mind and zoning in and out of it when a shiny black metallic suv pulled into the garage.
Peering out the window as you see Chan get out of the passenger side, he got his smile back, which means Seungcheol, in a way, cheered him up. From the driver's side, he came out. Seungcheol was slightly taller than Chan, and oh boy, he had a buff body. His face turned slightly as you got a glimpse of him, his jawline, round eyes, plump lips, and those brooding eyebrows. They went inside the garage, you, on the other hand, were still sitting in your car. Not really wanting to go in, seeing Chan smiling already made you less worried, and that's all right now. You don't want to provoke and turn that smile downwards again.
  “Are you here?”
Your phone dinged an incoming text message; it was from Seungcheol. Your heart fluttered at the sudden message. Another message from Seungcheol popped up on your phone and then another.
“Soonyoung said, he saw a car pull up to the garage. And that a woman is sitting on the driver's side. Why aren't you coming inside?”
“Do you want me to come and get you?”
“I will if I have to.”
Your eyes widened at the last text message from him, unable to respond back in time when you heard a tap on the glass of your window. Startled as you turned to the side and met his eyes. You lowered your window as he peeked his head slightly inside.
“Y/n, I'm presuming?” Seungcheol rested his arm against the window opening as he stared at you. “Are you not going to come inside?”
“I...no, probably not. Chan seems happy now; I don't want to make a scene and get him upset again. I caused too much damage.” You sighed, trying to hold back your tears.
“Cause a scene? Do you know what I did to make Chan happy?” Seungcheol's eyebrows furrowed upwards as he leaned himself closer to you. The corner of his lips twitched upwards into a wide grin. “All I did was drive him to Crescent Peak and bought him a happy meal. After that, he did most of the talking, more like venting, but from what he vented, he really cares about you. He just wants a little more understanding and trust coming from you.”
You laughed at him, the shape of your eyes turning to a crescent moon shape as he tilted his head sideways away from you, signaling towards the garage. His eyes communicated with yours as the smile on your lips faded slightly, overthinking every little aspect as you shook your head softly.
The look in Seungcheol’s eyes said otherwise as he stepped away from the door, reaching for the car handle as he opened it. Blocking the car door and yourself as he reached his hand out towards you, smiling at you as your heart fluttered at the sight. Staring at his hand and his charming, irresistible face as you thought about your next step. Still, in deep thought, you felt his hand on yours as he pulled you out of your seat and your feet moved on autopilot as he placed his hand on the small of your back, escorting you inside the garage studio.
The smell of gasoline and rubber was pungent, but that’s a given since it is a mechanical repair shop, and the open space did give it a spacious, homey sort of feel. It also wasn’t dirty, so that reassured your worrying heart. You could hear distant conversation, laughter, and debates rambling around.
Seungcheol’s hand was still on the small of your back where he escorted you into another spacious room with a large group of men. Your eyes gazed around when you saw Chan smiling and laughing with another. He looked happy, and the people he worked with did look like friendly people, especially his boss.
“See, nothing to worry about. Chan is fine and my friends care about him. I run a friendly workplace that promotes kindness. Rest assured, he’s fine under my care.” Seungcheol spoke softly, removing his hand from your back as he took a quick glimpse at you. Stepping ahead as he made his presence aware of the group by clearing his throat. “Okay, everyone!” He announced. Clapping his hands together to get everyone’s attention. “This is Y/n. She is Chan’s sister and I’m showing her what kind of business we run.”
You could feel your skin crawling all around your body at the eyes staring back at you, they were all handsome men to the least. Where did Seungcheol even hire such specimens? Lightly biting down on your bottom lips as you wave back at them with a soft “hi” and the state of your name. Your eyes glanced over at Chan, softening at him when you saw his expression fade.. Your heart begins to swell at the change of expression, not wanting to shed tears in front of him and his co-workers and boss as you turn around swiftly. A teardrop falling down to your cheek.
Seeing your action, Seungcheol looked at you, noticing your eyes wetter as he stepped up to you, his hand back at the small of your back as he leaned into your ear.
“Are you alright? Trust me, you and Chan could get through this. You are family after all. Family cracks all the time but with patience and endurance, you can repair it.” Seungcheol whispers into your ear. His hand goes up your spine as he softly rubs your back in comfort and wipes the tear stain on your cheek. You watched him closely, eyes gazing at his facial features. Your heart beat rhythmically at being close to him. His face was increasingly close to yours as you could see the iris in his eyes. His eyes weren’t that dark, still a shade of brown but the light around the place made his eyes sparkle. Making your heart calm down as you nodded your head to his previous question.
“I don’t know. His expression when he saw me, I knew he would still be upset. I guess he has the right to be upset. I over judged. I yelled at him.  I just don’t want anything to happen to him. I knew I shouldn’t have come in. I knew he needed more time. I have to go.” You sniffled as you attempted to leave, Seungcheol holding you back as he grasped onto your wrist, preventing you from leaving.
“If you leave now, you and Chan will distant further. Stay. I’ll get him to talk to you.” Seungcheol dropped his hand from your wrist, softly rubbing your back as he walked you towards the group of male. He noticed Chan stepping to the side when he brought you closer to the group.
“Y/n is staying for dinner. And that is final.”
“You’re not going to fuck with her, are you?” Asked the tall lanky man from the side, as Seungcheol’s eyes immediately change at the question. Giving him an unquestionable and glaring death stare.
“Mingyu, shut the fuck up. I wouldn’t fuck with a friend’s family. And Y/n is Chan’s sister. I wouldn’t do that to Chan.” Seungcheol gritted his teeth, his hands balled into a fist at his side.
“Okay. Sorry.” Mingyu lowered his head, side-eyeing at the person beside him, who happened to be another tall person with boyish features. Giving them a knowing look because they know Seungcheol likes to fuck around with women.
Well, he did but they haven't seen anything boisterous happen in the last couple of years. Maybe Seungcheol is a changed man in some ways and they just didn't know it. Or he's just really good at keeping secrets.
Seungcheol turned back to you, his expression completely flustered at what Mingyu had said. “Sorry about what Mingyu said. You could just ignore him, we do that a lot because he at times really doesn’t make sense.” He chuckled softly.
“It’s fine. I don’t plan to sleep with you anyways.” You chuckled back, giving him a wide smile as he stared at you baffled with his mouth hung open slightly. Closing it back up immediately to not seem flustered by your comment. “Thanks for the pep talk. I’ll try to talk to him. He’s not in the wrong, it’s mostly been me.” You shrug your shoulders. Making your way over to Chan, seeing him trying to occupy himself in a conversation with his co-worker.
“Chan,” you said, walking up to him with a heavy sigh. He gave you a quick glance and then looked away giving you the cold shoulder. Pouting your lips you look at his friend, he was good-looking, tall, broad shoulders and the spectacles he wore made him look like a super hot Asian Clark Kent. “Chan. Please talk to me. I am your sister, you can’t ignore me forever.”
Chan continued his childish behavior, talking to Asian Clark Kent as he glimpsed your way, his eyes were also communicating with yours. Seungcheol’s people sure like to communicate with their eyes. It was both confusing and intimidating.
“Hey Chan, shouldn’t you talk to your sister? She’s looking very desperate right now and if you don’t talk to her, I just might.” He laughed softly, tilting his head to the side a bit, smiling at you. Your heart swelled a bit in his presence, he seems to have a kind heart and personality.
“My name is Wonwoo. It’s really a pleasure to meet you, y/n. Chan never mentioned that he had a beautiful and kind sister. I wish I had someone beautiful and kind beside me.” Wonwoo winks in your direction as you could feel your cheeks flushing at the compliment. Which got Chan to notice you, his eyes glaring at Wonwoo as he turned around and grabbed onto your shoulders. Moving you away from him.
You and Chan found a quiet place in the garage studio away from the group, he stared at you with fury still in his eyes. His arms crossed over his chest while keeping his distance from you. Your heart was beating fast and you couldn’t help the tears forming in your eyes, they were about to fall but you tried your hardest to not let them. Do not let them fall in front of Chan. You had promised yourself during the funeral process of your parents, to never shed a tear in front of Chan, in addition to graduation ceremonies and any type of joyous fanfare. But now, you couldn’t hold them back in fear of losing Chan over a pity fight. He noticed the tear falling down your cheek as his expression softened, dropping his arms from his chest, he stepped closer to you.
“Nuna. Please don’t cry,” he pleaded, holding his own emotion back.
Chan did the same thing you have been doing when your parents passed away, he held back his emotions, in wanting to be brave and strong for you. You were his older sister and he wanted to be a man who could protect you, not even noticing that you were doing the exact same thing. “I’m sorry I yelled at you like that.”
You shook your head, stepping up to him as you wrap your arms around him, embracing him in a soft hug. “You don’t have to apologize. You didn’t do anything. I was the one in the wrong. I knew I was in the wrong but I didn’t want to admit it. I didn’t want to admit that you are a grown man. You’re constantly growing up and maturing and adapting to the World. But you are my baby brother, and I am always going to worry about you but I shouldn’t be overbearing with protectiveness. Not like this anymore, at least. It’s just, you working here makes it a little worrisome. It’s a mechanic repair shop for crying out loud, you’re dealing with vehicles daily and that’s the main subject that got mom and dad killed. I just don’t want to see any vehicle accidents.”
Chan listened to you. He nodded his head, letting your embrace envelop him as he pulled away from you to see your face. Exhaling softly out he held onto your shoulders.
“It’s fine that you worry. I worry about you too, especially when you use public transportation for work. It worries me that something is going to happen. But when you come home all safe and sound, I'm rest assured, knowing that you know how to take care of yourself. So, Y/n, can't you rest assured that I'm going to take care of myself just as well as you? And Seungcheol is really a great boss, he teaches me a lot about the inner workings of a vehicle. Besides, a car wasn’t the main subject to mom’s and dad’s death. It was a drunk driver. Before you answer anything, I know. I asked our uncle about mom and dad after I turned 18. So to me, being involved in a car accident is slim. I know my way around a car and a motorcycle, thanks to Seungcheol. Also, I should tell you another thing about this place I work at and how I ended up driving a motorcycle.”
“He does what!?” Your voice rang out throughout the garage studio, softly slapping Chan across his arm as you heavily pace over to the group again. Eyes set on one person and one person alone. Your hands balled into a fist and your hips swayed feverously. “Seungcheol!” You yell from across the room, his whole body turns to meet you. Reading your enraged facial expression and body expression as he tensed up a bit, not sure what to expect but to expect something. Stopping in front of him, your arms crossed over your chest, staring at him as he stared back at you with confusion. “Street racing? Really? That is illegal and you better not have my brother do anything dangerous. Or else I am going to rip off your nut sack, blend it up and shove it down your throat.” You huffed out heavily, chest heaving up and down as you dropped your arms to your side. Placing your hands onto your hips. Your eyes gaze into his and he stares back into yours. Your body and his were mere inches apart. There was a bit of a flutter going on inside of you but you took that as an adrenaline rush for protecting your brother.
Seungcheol gulps visibly, shaking his head at what you said. “I wouldn’t let Chan street race. Street racing is for experienced members and Chan is still in the learning course.”
You blinked, calming yourself down as your mouth hung at what he said. “I…I’m sorry? Experienced members? Learning course? Did you not hear what I said? Don’t get my brother involved in your street racing…you know what, he quit. Quit! He doesn’t work for you anymore. Good-bye.” Turning around you walk back up to Chan, taking his hand in yours as you lead him out of the garage studio, not even looking back at the scene.
“Y/n,” Chan whined, removing his hand from yours as he stopped in place. Making you turn around to face him. “You’re being unreasonable again. Seungcheol wouldn’t make me street race just like that. You heard him, only experienced members could street race.”
“Yes, I did hear that and I heard the part where he said “learning course”. Is he teaching you how to street race?” The tone of your voice rose, the veins in your neck popping as you placed your hand onto your chest, feeling the beat of your heart going erratic. “I’m sorry, Chan. I shouldn’t have overreacted like that. But street racing? Street racing is illegal, what would happen if he got arrested or his friends? Or what would happen if you got into an accident because of the racing?”
“They wouldn’t, they have a police scanner in their cars and they are all really good racers,” Chan said that last part with enthusiasm. “Also it’s not just street racing they do. Seungcheol even said that his business is a repair shop. It is first and foremost a repair shop and street racing is just a side job to keep the business afloat.”
“I guess the repair shop is an okay job. But why do I get a sense that you have already seen them street race?” You stared at your brother, cocking your head to the side as he stared away from you, not making eye contact with you as he stared somewhere far instead. “Lee Chan, answer me.”
That got his attention, because one, he hated it when you called him by his full name like a parent. “Can you stop calling me by my full name just to get my attention like a parent? I am your brother, not your son.”
He huffed out, walking away from you as he headed back to the garage studio, stopping mid-way as he looked back at you with frustration in his eyes. His hands rummaged through his hair. “Y/n.” He walked back to you, his shoulders slumped, and he wrapped you into his arms. “I promise you. Nothing will happen to me. What happened to mom and dad won’t happen to me. You won’t lose me, ever. I promise to take care of myself even if that means I want to street race, and I kind of want to. You gotta trust that I won’t put myself in any danger and that I know what I am doing. Seungcheol is teaching me, the whole group is teaching me and I’m getting all A’s in class. There are one or two that aren’t but that is not the point. I am doing fine and I am 20 years old, I am an adult, I know what I’m doing.” He breathed out, hugging you tightly in his arms as you softened in his embrace. Feeling his warmth for the first time instead of you embracing him like always. “Trust me? If you trust me, I can trust you.”
You breathed out, nodding your head softly at what he said, taking his words into consideration. You need to learn to trust him more, now that he’s an adult. “I trust you Chan. That doesn’t change a lot though. I will always worry about you, but I trust you. I’ll try my best to trust you, trust the people you befriend, and trust everything that comes in our way. I love you baby brother.” You wrap your arms around his waist as he hugs you tighter. Nudging his chin onto your shoulder as you let out a soft giggle, he let you go and looked at you with widened eyes and a wide grin. Rolling your eyes as you knew what his intentions were. Nodding your head willingly as you hug him once more before letting him go. “Don’t do anything stupid and I guess, tell Seungcheol that I’m sorry for yelling at him and maybe next time I will have dinner with all of them. Right now, I am in need of a deep soak. Also tell him he better not put you in any danger besides repairing cars.”
Chan nodded at what you said, smiling widely as he yelled back “I love you, you’re the best sister ever” as he proceeded inside and you headed back to your car. Driving away and glimpsing in the rearview mirror, half worrying about your brother and half proud of him. He’s right after all, you need to lessen your worrying thoughts on him because he is an adult now and he is learning on what to do and what not to do. Smiling at the rearview mirror, you watch the building of Seungcheol’s automotive repair shop disappear from your sight.
Days later, Chan messaged you that he would be staying a couple nights at the garage studio and Seungcheol even set up a spare room for him. Even though you still constantly worry for him and that he's working part-time and University courses. Leaves your heart swelling with anxiety. And the fact that Seungcheol and his group of friends’ street race is still a concerning thing for you.
Bored out of your mind, and also feeling lonely being in the house all by yourself, you reach for your phone on the coffee table and dial Chan's number. Waiting patiently, you sip on a glass of wine. When his phone picks up a voice comes over the phone.
“Hello Y/n, this is Seokmin. Chan isn't here right now, Cheol took him for driving practice. I heard the phone ring and then I saw your name. Well, honestly, I wanted to talk to you because you left that other night and none of us got to introduce ourselves properly.” Seokmin's voice sounded warm and soft over the phone, it had a hint of sadness and that made you frown lightly. Sipping on your wine, you got up from the couch and walked over to the bay window. Staring out into the front yard and the road, it was a partly cloudy day, and still sunshine left. Chan really was learning to street race and your heart and mind felt so uneasy from hearing what Seokmin told you. When an idea pops into your mind. An outrageous idea but it just maybe might work to your advantage.
“That's alright, I'm trying to trust Chan better and let him decide what he wants to do. And I'm sorry for the other night. I didn't mean to make a scene like that. If you're interested, we could reintroduce ourselves today. I should get to know you all better since Chan is working there.”
Suggesting the idea to Seokmin, and he with no hesitation accepted your offer. Deciding to meet at the garage studio if that didn't bother you, and he could show you around more properly and just casually hang out after.
After taking a quick shower, you went to change into something casual, fun, comfy, and cute. Decided on a cute baby blue two-piece jumpsuit, a cropped bustier-like top and thigh-length shorts. Matching that with a canary yellow ballet flats. And a light beige cardigan just in case it gets somewhat chilly. Applying on a light make-up and soft curls for your hair, you grabbed your things, wallet, phone and keys and placed them into your purse.
When you arrived at the garage studio, you parked at the side just like what Seokmin told you, since you weren't a customer and parking vehicles in the front were for customers. Stepping to the side door, you knock gently on the door and it swings open for you to find Seokmin smiling fondly at you.
“Hi Y/n,” he said enthusiastically. Wrapping you in a warm hug and inviting you inside. “Chan is still out with Seungcheol. And so is Jihoon, Soonyoung, Junhui, Wonwoo and Mingyu. And if you're wondering why it is just them. It is because they're the racing team and me, Joshua, Jeonghan, and Minghao are the mechanical team. We do more of the repairs and such.”
Nodding your head at what he said and also grateful that he told you, it was good information to know.
Seokmin took you around the garage, showing you each room and what is in it and what they do, it eased your mind a lot. Knowing that Chan isn't putting himself in danger.
After the little garage tour, you found yourself in their kitchen all because Seokmin and Joshua were semi-arguing about what to get for lunch. You ended up volunteering to make them lunch, plus it would be a nice surprise for Chan. Since he hasn't been home for a couple of nights you missed his stupid face quite a lot.
Standing in the kitchen, you looked through their fridge and freezer, not yet sure what to make. As their fridge was somewhat barren, it had a few good things. Locating pork belly in the fridge, you decided to use that and grill it. Looking at your phone and calculating the time and the distance it took from the garage and home. It wasn't that long of a drive, and with traffic lights, it would take at most 30 to 40 minutes. You shook your head at the unforeseen thought, decided to risk it, and go home and get the necessary supplies that the studio lacked.
Back at home, you put on your apron and got to work. It was the kitchen that was your happy place, a sort of meditation space that allowed you to think and calm down. Getting a pot out from the cabinets, you fill it halfway with water and place it on top of the stove to let it boil. Getting a whole chicken out of your freezer and rinse the chicken in warm water to thaw it and get rid of any excess blood or organ parts. Once the water boiled, you placed lemon grass, ginger, garlic cloves, onion pearls, ginseng, and salt and pepper. Gently setting the whole chicken into the boiling pot and cover it until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
With the chicken boiling in the pot with the seasonings and herbs, you wandered over to the fridge to see what else you could take to the studio. There were tubberwares of pickled vegetables, which would be good for side dishes. With the chicken continuing to cook, you also decided to make a few kimbap rolls just in case.
After everything's done, you cut the kimbap and place them neatly into containers. Not even bothering with the chicken, you slipped on an oven-mitt and transported it into an empty Amazon box to secure it for transport. With everything set and finished, you drove back to the garage, and even though an hour passed, you didn't mind.
There were many cars parked at the side and the sun had already gone down subsequently. Taking the box with the boiled chicken in your arms, you walked over to the door. Softly knocking on the door with the back of your hand. Good thing someone heard you as the door opened up. Smiling wide for them, they let you in, looking all perplexed. Which happened to be Soonyoung who opened the door.
“Oh, hey, do you need help?” He asks. Walking to your side with his hands in the air as if he's going to do something but doesn't know what to do. “Also what is that, that is in the box? It smells delicious.”
“There's a few more things in my car if you want to help. In the back passenger seat. And what you are smelling is the delicious aroma of boiled chicken in herbs.” Grinning at Soonyoung, his mouth hung open, gulping visibly as he went out the door to retrieve the rest in your car.
Carrying the box past the garage studio living area and also passing Chan and his friends who were settled in there. Your quick presence got them all confused, following you to the dining area. Having not even noticed it when they got home, the table was cleaned and plates and utensils were set out as well as the induction stove and the portable grill.
“Woah. When did you all prepare this?” Mingyu asked. His eyes brighten from the thought of not cooking and just enjoying himself.
“It was Y/n. She thought it all out and prepared it all. Literally, she went back home and prepared it herself.” Jeonghan said. He finished setting up the portable grill in the middle of the table to cook the pork belly.
“She is like a magician. Can she come back here whenever?” Soonyoung said coming from behind everyone with the rest of the food. “Look at all these foods. And all the kimchi. Plus we won't need Mingyu to do much anymore.” He was beaming at the sight of tupperwares of food in his arms, setting it on the table.
Your cheeks blushed furiously, the compliments coming from them were all very nice but getting all the attention was mind-boggling. Setting the box on the table, you carefully took the pot out of the box. The lid to the pot slid open slightly from the transport as steam blew out, hitting your wrist and a light yelp from your lips from the hot steam.
Not yet registering anything but the hot steam that blew onto your wrist. His hand found its way to your hand, glimpsing at your wrist for any damage. There were none but it was slightly red because of the steam.
“Careful,” he said, softly blowing air onto your wrist, how his lips were bare centimeters from your wrist with his hand holding you in place.
Glancing up, you stared at his perfectly long lashes and how his eyes were only looking at your wrist. Seungcheol tended to take care of people when they got hurt, except for himself.
“Does it sting?” He asks, glancing away from your wrist. His eyes met yours and your face flushed more than when the hot steam blew onto your wrist.
Shaking your head at his question was all you could do. Never blinking once, you stared back into his eyes, and they sparkled for you. Your heart swirls around at his gaze on you.
“Y/n are you okay? You should have let one of us get it out.” Chan was nagging at you, but you hardly heard him as it all sounded muffled. Your only attention was the man in front of you. His warm hand holding up your wrist,
Only able to mumble “Yeah” to seem like you were paying attention but in fact you weren't because of Seungcheol. His lips were so plump, it made you imagine things that you shouldn't. Coming out of your fantasy, you removed your hand away from him, glancing away from him and back to your brother with his face still sporting a worried expression.
“I'm fine, Chan. Just a little red from the steam, that is all.” Walking up to him and wrapping your arms around his waist. Hugging him softly and ruffling his hair a bit. “Don't worry about me. I'm older and can totally take care of myself.” Your arms tighten around his waist, planting a soft peck on his cheek. Your personality had changed somewhat after their passing which made you become evidently more overly affectionate towards Chan.
Chan pulled away from you, his face distorted from your affection and also because it was literally in front of all the guys. He didn't want to look like a baby in front of them.
“Yeah older but you're a girl and when I'm not home, you're home alone and oh my god.” His eyes widened at a realization that popped into his mind. Turning to face you and taking your hands into his. The rest of the guys heard his exclamation and turned towards the both of you. “I've been a terrible brother. I have been leaving you alone all by yourself. At night. How could I be so stupid?! An intruder could have snuck in and killed you, stolen things or worse rape you.”
Everyone watching Chan lose his sanity, rambling on about intruders. Staring at him in confusion and also anger, because how could he just assume something like that? A little out of it, the guys quietly took bites of their food and quietly sipped on their liquor.
“Chan! You are getting ridiculous. Why would you even assume that? Do you think I'm that helpless? I've worked 3 jobs in the past. Paid your University fees, house mortgages, utilities fee, and life insurance. Also, the house has a security system and cameras. Even if I was home alone at night, I would still be safe.”
Chan sighed out. His hands squeeze yours tightly but comfortably, with his lips pouting outwards in a frown. “Sorry.”
“It is fine. I know you're worried. How about this, whenever you can't come home for the night. I mean I guess I'm all down for it if you are. But they could keep me company?” You suggest on a whim, motioning to the group around you guys. Chan looked around, his eyes staring at each person as if he's examining who's a good fit to stay with you. There are a handful he trusts and a few he wouldn't trust to stay with you. For one, he trusted Seokmin, Minghao, Jeonghan, Wonwoo, Jihoon, and Seungcheol to stay with you as it was the most likely they wouldn't do anything inappropriate.
The others, he wasn't sure about.
“The hours I spent earlier today, I totally trust Seokmin with my life now.” With what you said, Seokmin beamed in a smile, his face turning red from your statement.
Much later into the night and after everyone has had a nice fill of food into their stomachs and is now indulging themselves in alcoholic beverages. Watching grown men, drunkenly conversing, chuckling at their playful banter.
“You haven't drank in a while. Here, let me fill up your glass again.” Soonyoung grinned cheekily at you, a bottle of soju in his hand. He poured the clear liquid to the top. Your eyes watching it overflow, slightly gaping your mouth open. He was definitely drunk, as you thought from his current behavior. “Drink so we can toast.” Soonyoung placed the bottle back on the table and took his glass into his hand. Raising it towards you, a little wobbly of his arm.
Complying to his demands, you raise your full glass of soju and clink your glasses together. Shutting your eyes and taking in all the soju, usually you were a good drinker but Soonyoung had poured a lot and with soju since it's hard liquor it burned down your throat. Hissing softly with a quiver after. Your lips puckering and setting the glass back on the table.
You were definitely not going home tonight with the alcohol consumption you had. Standing up from your seat and getting the attention of everyone.
“Just going to the bathroom. I will be back.” You say. Waving your hand at them to continue their festivities or whatever they are doing.
“Y/n do you know where the bathroom is? I can show you where it is.” Chan stood slightly up from his seat.
“It's fine. Seokmin showed me where it was earlier. I got it and you just go back to having fun.”
Pushing your chair into the table, you left the dining room and went to the bathroom because you needed to use it. However, on your back, you turned around and went to find the room that was locked this afternoon when Seokmin was giving you a grand tour. He specified that the locked room was Seungcheol's office and usually only he goes in. Sometimes he allows Jihoon and Soonyoung, but no one else is allowed in there. But now was your time. If the door is still indeed locked then oh well but if by a miracle it isn't locked, well that's wonderful.
By a miracle it was indeed unlocked, thinking maybe it was unlocked because Seungcheol is here and maybe he only locked it when he went out.
Looking over your shoulder for anyone as you turn the doorknob carefully and step inside. Shutting the door as quietly as possible.
His office room was neat and organized, there was hardly anything worth seeing right in the open. There were blueprints on the table and a cork board but those all seemed to be engine blueprints for cars. Nothing to be too concerned with, you moved on to his desk and still the same. Engine parts and whatnot, it seemed the repair shop really was a good job and perhaps street racing is just a side thing.
About to leave Seungcheol's office when you noticed the big metal cabinet off to the corner of the room. Curious about what's inside you walked over to it and grabbed onto the handle. Opening the metal cabinet wide, your mouth gaped open. Covering your hand over them.
Automatic rifles, assault rifles, semi-automatics, handheld, and various other kinds of weapons.
Your mind now wondering what on Earth does he need all of these weapons for? All going back to Chan and all the dangerous scenarios that could happen with him and these weapons.
“What's got you so pale looking?”
Surprised from the sudden voice, you jumped in place from the fright of his voice and turned around. Colliding straight into his chest and stumbling backwards, but he catches your fall. Holding you tight in his arms, his eyes searched yours and your heart hammering at the closeness. Placing your hands onto his chest and pushing yourself off of him, distancing your space a bit.
“What are you doing in here?” Seungcheol smacks his lips, gently licking them. Crossing his arms over his chest, he stares at you, arching a brow upwards. “Did you get lost finding your way to the bathroom?”
“Uh- yes. Yes. I didn't know where the bathroom was. I should probably go find it.” You chirped, softly gulping at the sudden nervousness. Side stepping away from him to get to the door.
Seungcheol steps to the side, blocking your path, he uncrosses his arms. Walking directly in front of you with his eyes glued to you as you step backwards, crashing into the wall. Placing his hands on each side of you, boxing you in between a rock and a hard place (the wall and Seungcheol).
“Liar.” He spoke. Stepping closer and closer until you placed your hand in the front, stopping his movements as your hand is pressed against his chest.
“You literally just told everyone that you knew where the bathroom was. So, what's up with the charade? Did you really have to use the bathroom, or did you just want to come in here?” He took one more step and your hand pressed harder against his chest. His eyes were so intimidating and intense, it made you want to look away but also not from how dazzling they looked up close.
“Stop. I will scream.” You threatened him. Even though you weren't really going to, it was a bluff but Seungcheol won't know that.
  “Do it then, scream.”
“Really? Uhm.” You hesitated on the screaming, noticing Seungcheol’s expression and you knew that he knew that you weren't going to scream. “Okay. I'm not going to scream. But I didn't lie. I did use the bathroom, I just…” You bit your lip, unsure of how to explain to him how you ended up in his office. Because you can't just blatantly tell him that you are curious about what he actually does. If the whole auto mechanic shop is the real deal and if the street racing he does really is dangerous or if he has some kind of hidden agenda where he actually sells drugs or black market items.
Seungcheol narrowed his eyes at you, tilting his head to the side, breathing out lightly.
“Cat got your tongue or what? Why did you come into my office and sneak around?”
“I wasn't sneaking around. As a sister to Chan it is only curious to see where he works and if the environment is truly good and that there isn't anything shady going behind the scenes. So, you tell me, why do you have a full cabinet of guns in your workplace? And what are they here for? That's awfully shady business right there.”
Seungcheol chuckled, leaning his head closer to you and taking one more step towards you. Your arm now bent in an angle, and the closeness between you two was now mere centimeters apart. Smacking his lips near your ear, he pulled himself back to gaze back into your eyes.
“My business isn't shady for that matter in fact. This really is an auto mechanic repair shop and the guns, well, I can't tell you that. That's my business and just mine alone.” He smirked. Letting his hands off the wall, stepping away from you to let you breathe.
Perplexed with his answer, you walked up to him, feeling somewhat confident. Placing your hands, closed in a fist on your hips.
“That isn't even a proper answer.” You huffed out, slightly fuming. “Fine. I'll just ask someone else if they know. I bet Soonyoung knows and with his state right now, I can butter him up into telling me.” You gleefully said. Seeing Seungcheol's expression changes drastically. You were just randomly saying someone's name and it so happened that Soonyoung's name was a good choice.
“You better not.” Seungcheol gritted his teeth. He walked back up to you, grasping onto your wrist and pulling you back against his chest.
“Then tell me why you have all of those guns in here and what the purpose for them is for?” Your voice falters slightly. Sensing your distress, he let go of your wrist. Tilting his head back to let out a heavy breath. “Seungcheol,” you said his name softly. Reaching out to take his hand into yours, gently squeezing them in with yours. “I'm not going to judge for whatever reasons you have. I just want to know if my brother is going to be safe or not.”
Seungcheol felt his heart swell from the sudden action of your doing for the first time. Staring at your hand, and the way your petite fingers hugged his hand. He grinned faintly at them.
“The guns. Promise me that you won't tell the others. The only other people who know of this are Soonyoung and Jihoon.” Nodding your head at what he said, listening to him speak with your hand still squeezing him in comfort.
“I don't sell guns. They are there because, before I started the mechanic repair shop, Chan already mentioned to you that I street race. Street racing is different from professional racing, with different rules, different kinds of cars, and everything. Street racing is a whole new kind of environment. And with my experienced street racing, I got the credibility of being the best. Racing and showcasing my cars. Eventually after gaining popularity, I also gained enemies. There are extremely bad people out there who will do anything to ruin me and my business. They won't stop to get what they want. I keep the guns for protection. I won't use them at all, unless I'm in desperate need to use them.” Seungcheol let out a heavy breath. His hand trembling in yours from telling everything about the guns. Like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders.
Unknowingly you stepped closer to him, wrapping your arm around his wide body in a warm embrace which followed suit in him wrapping his arms around your waist.
His head burying against your neck, the scent of your perfume wafting into his nose. A bright, floral scent that fitted you so well. With his arms tightening around your waist and pulling you closer to him, you softly rubbed your hand on his back.
“I won’t tell the others, I promise. But, maybe like what you had told me to confront Chan about our differences. You could do about the same with this. They work for you and look up to you and above all you guys are all friends, I’m sure they will understand.” Your hand smooths his back gently, when he gently pulls away from your embrace. A smile on his lips, that made your heart ache at how precious and charming they were. “Thanks for telling me and honestly, I don’t suspect you of anything bad anymore. The whole gun thing is understandable. Though, I really hope you don’t have to use them, and that Chan doesn’t have to be near them. Can you promise me not to let anything dangerous or life threatening happen to Chan? He’s really all I have left.” Holding back your emotions and trying not to overthink things.
Seungcheol nodded his head to your question, reaching his hand out towards yours and linking his pinky finger with yours. “I promise with my life that I won’t let anything happen to him.” His pinky finger stayed interlocked with yours for a minute longer before pulling away.
The both of you exited the room together and headed back into the dining room, which got the attention of the others. Chan’s eyes were confused and bulging at the sight of Seungcheol being beside you and that the two of you walked in together. He got up quickly out of his seat and ran to you, taking your hand into his, pulling you away from his side.
“What, why are you walking back with Cheol hyung? Did he do something to you? Did he violate you?” He questioned, turning around to meet Seungcheol with a small fist beside his side. “What did you do to my sister?”
  “You are—”
Placing your hand on Seungcheol’s shoulder, he looked at you confused when Chan also noticed your action. Shaking your head, you took your hand off and took Chan’s instead, dragging him back to the table and sitting him down where you sat in the seat beside him.
“Seungcheol did not violate me. Why would you think that? YOu gotta clean that head of yours and focus on your studies instead of whatever you’re thinking of.”
That left Chan speechless, he down his glass and turned away from you, getting back into a conversation with Joshua that was sitting next to him. You chuckled at his childish antics, glancing around the table and watching them when your gaze met with Seungcheol for the millionth time that night. However this time, his gaze was different and the distance between the two of you added something else that you couldn’t comprehend.
