lovelovelove the helena/helly debate cuz i can fully see both sides. like, yeah, it makes sense that the lying, the insistence that innies and outies are two separate people, the reassurance that there are no cameras or microphones, the fumbling with the computer switch, and her hesitation/confusion when mark hugs her would all be helena trying to fit in and have them trust her so she can find out anything else lumon doesnt already know about. on the other hand i can totally see helly being absolutely devastated to find out that she’s the cause of her suffering in an even more involved way than all the others and wanting to hide that fact. her family built lumon from the ground up, her father is the one who came up with the severance procedure, and helly herself encourages others to become severed. it must be soul crushing to learn that You and your whole family are the cause of your suffering AND your friends suffering. it would make sense for helly to being acting strange because of that revelation and it makes sense that she would want to see outies and innies as two entirely separate people. its just very neat i like it a lot its very fun to me :3

like I see posts about being medically neglected as a kid and how hard it was and it's like. fuck. the kids like me who didn't see a doctor are just not here anymore.

the eugenicist healthcare system kills infants and toddlers and sometimes I am brutally reminded of that

dylan being the one most concerned about ms. huang ("why is she, like, eight?", "is it rude to keep asking why you're a kid/ are you okay?") is at the same time because he's a father but also because he's the kind of person who becomes a father. innie!dylan? not a dad. does not know his kids. he knows he has kids, but that's really not the same thing. something about fatherhood is so innate to him that it carries over and this fact is gonna make me start punching the walls

The two things I think about the most from Severance are:

-Women who got pregnant cause her innie has sex which she didn't know about

-Innie whose entire existence is to be pregnant and give birth

I cant stop thinking about this too!!

What is bodily autonomy when you're sharing a body but not memories, and you cannot communicate or know anything about the other person who lives inside you?

It's not as horrifying, but this must be horrifying for family members too. There's another version of your spouse or parent or sibling that doesn't know you exist. If your innie falls in love/ has sex, does it count as cheating if you consider them to be an entirely separate entity?

been thinking about severance as always and just, correct me if I'm wrong but…they have no idea what it's like to sleep, do they? irving keeps getting in trouble for falling asleep at work which means they're not allowed to sleep, which make sense in a corporate environment but just the fact that the simple pleasure of knowing what it is to sleep, of knowing what rest feels like, is forbidden to them just seems absolutely horrific to me

My girl was obsessed with that kiss.

Seriously though, with Helena very likely to remember (at least partially) how Mark saved her in the elevator and now seeing Mark and Helly kiss and Helly be happy right after her father punished her after she did so much to prove herself, it makes sense for her to want to experience that connection for herself. And by making it easier for Lumon to continue to supervise MDR it's an easy sell for the board while Helena furthers her own goals.

I'm expecting a reveal in episode 6 or 7 with episode 4 probably focusing on Mark's first days at Lumon.

hello i’m on my opening theme sequence bullshit again but on my latest rewatch i noticed that the MDR office gets pixeled/swept up into the syringe that puts the severance chip in people’s heads… that and the four tempers/four boxes for sorting the numbers makes me think they’re helping lumon like…. control emotions or something.
