in the tags of that one fab five poly post you mentioned that you are a core four enthusiast and I’d love to hear if you have any Kon headcanons or just any yj headcanons in general, I love those little guys

!!! i love Kon so much, he's one of my fave guys. i actually got into the 90s era of comics to read his solo run, YJ(98), and then i just spiralled from there. i've got lots of headcanons about both Kon and YJ

for Kon specifically, i'm really attached to the headcanon of him and Power Girl being friends. i think the idea of them bonding over imposter syndrome over feeling like Kryptonians who don't neatly fit into the Superfam would be very crunchy. it's my Kara Zor-L stan showing, but i've got a lot of fic ideas where they end up close. similarly: i also think a friendship between Kon and Bizarro could be fun, both being clones of Superman made by Lex.

for a YJ headcanon: i hold FIRMLY to the belief that Bart knew TIm's secret identity before YJ even formed he just. never mentioned it bc no one asked him. the way they meet in Robin Plus Impulse, i see no world where Bart doesn't figure it out. i think it makes for a hilarious concept that Tim's identity real is a big deal and he uses the whole fake name Alvin Draper and Bart just blurts out that he's Tim Drake. i know we all love TimKon, but I'm a bit of a TimBart truther and i think it could be a fun little moment for them.

back to Kon: this is less of a headcanon and more of just a thought: but i wish we had more content about the Ravers, Kon's team before YJ. i won't everytime i think about Superboy & the Ravers i have to look it up to convince myself i didn't hallucinate that entire comic. but it was so fun. there was a road trip arc. a canon queer character who's arc was handled shockingly well for the 90s. (and the homophobic character was the one who got the unhappy ending while the gay man got to be happy with a bf?? revolutionary.) i personally believe Hero Cruz was Kon's gay awakening. i won't elaborate on this. anyway i wish we saw more of Kon thinking about this team after YJ formed and maybe missing some of his old party friend losers.

also on the note of Kon, i love any exploration of his canon experiences with being groomed by just about every woman he "dated" in the 90s. i'm such a fan of when a character becomes hypersexual to cope with their trauma that they haven't realized even is trauma. and i think Kon fits that bar perfectly. the first real attention he got outside of being attached to Superman's legacy was sexual attention from women, so of course he would lean into that and not realize how fucked up it was until years later. i love when it shapes his relationships in fanfiction, especially if he doesn't realize it. whether it's Tana Moon or Knockout or just about any other woman, there's a lot of material to explore.

Kon is one of the few characters i will venture out of pre-Flashpoint for because i think his complex over Jon Kent has the potential to be really complex and fun. i think everyone misunderstands Kon and Clark's relationship (i blame the Young Justice cartoon. i've had arguments you wouldn't believe over Kon on TikTok-) as father/son and that Clark is constantly pushing Kon away in favor of Jon, and that's just not true. the issue is that Kon was *forgotten* by the timeline shifting without him bc he was off on Gemworld. and to me, that's more interesting than making Clark some kind of absent father to him. it's an issue of the world he remembers not existing anymore and most of the world not remembering him either, and now there's a new Superboy replacing him. idk man that's fun. i have a lot of thoughts about the feelings Kon would have about Jon, wondering if the timeline shift was meant to "correct" Superboy to make a version of Superboy that was meant to exist and Kon wasn't. this very much ties into my thoughts on how he and Power Girl would have a lot to bond over, feeling displaced in a world that doesn't need them. that's where Kon's identity issues stem from. that said, i always prefer a Kon who actually gets along pretty well with the Superfam, including Clark and Jon. most of his conflict is internal, not external. it's what makes him crunchy.

more YJ headcanon: i think the shift from the Teen Titans to YJ from the perspective of the mentors is fascinating. YJ got a lot more freedom and less supervision, it's like how parents don't try as hard when they have more kids. so i love the headcanon that half the time the League has no damn clue what YJ is up to. they played baseball to save the universe? yeah they never mentioned it to their mentors. no one asked. the lack of supervision, sans a robot, makes them incredibly creative with how they solve problems. they don't approach anything traditionally because no one is properly guiding them. since they're a new generation of sidekicks, most of them holding a mantle that was passed down to them (or at the very least they're a new generation of a superhero family) it holds a bit of imposter syndrome. all of them are internally panicking 90% of the time while trying to appear collected around each other. they're actively a collective disaster because of it.

personally, i view the Core Four as more of a queerplatonic polycule than a romantic one? like i think it's fun to explore polycule dynamics where it's not actually everyone dating everyone, but far more complex of some people dating, some people are familial, some people are fucking, and we don't even know what those two have going on. it's complicated, you know? messy and codependent. i don't see them as a neat polycule whatsoever. it's like an on and off again relationship but with four people that also occasionally includes others. i'm personally a fan of the potential of the Young Justice (2019) team being a polycule except none of them have any clue who's dating who. every single one of them *will* give you a different answer. half of them aren't even aware of the other's sexualities. Jinny has come out as a lesbian like four times to her own polycule. i'm a big fan of this team and i wish there was more fan content for it.

random smaller headcanon: i do think Kon can cook and i think no one believes him when he tells them. bc the issue isn't he can't cook, it's that he never has food in his fridge or pantry to cook with. that boy was raised with Ma and Pa Kent, he can make a *mean* hotdish with whatever he finds. just don't expect him to ever repeat a recipe bc he will never have that exact combination of ingredients in his kitchen again. he is however, horrible at baking bc cooking is an art and baking is a science and you will never catch him following a recipe in his life.

i think Kon regularly uses his TTK to save his teammates during fights and just. never mentions it. like in small ways, such as slightly moving flying debris that's about to hit them, making a villain's punch have more resistance so it doesn't hit as hard, slightly pulling them out of the way. no one knows for like. *years*. i'm very obsessed with pushing TTK to the limits and exploring how it makes Kon hyperaware of his surroundings. it's a literal sixth sense and i think he's passively always aware of everything, even when he's relaxing. no one realizes just how much control he exerts over a fight. which means he's holding himself back most of the time, and in my opinion for the reasons of being afraid of himself, and afraid of the Luthor parts of him. so he just. balances a fight in little, unnoticeable ways.

it's one of my headcanons that if Kon started openly dating Tim Drake, Lex would immediately try to get closer to Kon bc not only would he approve of Kon dating someone from high society, but he'd want to try to use Tim's power within his family's company and Bruce's company as leverage. of course it wouldn't work, but it'd be a fun mind game if Lex vs Tim with Kon just stuck in the middle. i have a vague fanfic idea for this I'll probably never write.

this is a cursed headcanon: but i believe Kon has an incest kink. the number of times he's canonically expressed incestual feelings (both on purpose and on accident) is not on purpose in the text, but the fact it keeps happening means i'm personally just going to run with it. i think KonJayTim is fun bc even if Tim and Jason don't see each other as siblings, Kon would make it a kink anyway. i will leave you on that cursed note.

This just tells me you don't really read the comics. Or if you do, you only read for one type of Peter Parker. People forget that his character is FLUID.

The completely BS idea that Peter Parker is this insanely socially inept uwu guy is just really false and I don't know where it came from. (Oof welp, actually I do. It came from all the people that think that there can only be one type on top) The hate for Andrew's Peter is so unwarranted. There are so many versions in comics and in shows where Peter's not overly awkward and he's actually pretty confident and does good with making friends. People really just took Tobey Maguire's and said that his was the only version that could possibly be right so apparently that made Andrew's wrong? Like no. Tobey's is not law. He was one of many versions and just because Andrew's was cooler, it did not make his wrong. Check out the spiderman cartoons. Literally any spiderman comic. Peter's got swagger when the story calls for it.

Gwen never tried to hold Peter back and she always helped out as much as she could.

the thing is no one would call themselves a fan of a movie they saw a poster/gif of & never actually watched or a fan of a musician they've seen a couple pictures of & never actually listened to but suddenly all logic goes out the window when faced with comic books! the reason i advocate so much for really actually engaging with comics as a legitimate medium is specifically because i want people to enjoy things, i'd love for them to find a book or a series or a character that's everything they've ever dreamed of in canon as i have. no fandom interpretation necessary, no ignoring the parts you don't like, just genuinely engaging with the text & finding something that feels like it's meant for you and you alone -- a possibility that exists solely & precisely because there are so many comics out there in the world. it's a wonderful thing to have as a hobby!

i personally consider comics one of the most accessible forms of media in the world -- readcomiconline is a godsend & it only requires an adblock to be absolutely perfectly safe on both desktop and mobile, not to mention it's got everything from the literal golden age of comics (stuff from the 1930s-40s that's not been collected anywhere or you'd have to spend $100000 to even breathe in the same room as!) to weekly releases.

and, speaking as someone who's completely broke as we speak & generally grew up poor, it's an astoundingly cheap hobby to have. free methods aside, if you happen to have a local comic shop or a convention or anything remotely similar then you're bound to find a whole bunch of comics for absolutely insane prices. i go to the london comic mart, which is a free entry event, every two months & come back with 30-50 individual issues for £10! hell, i do even make an effort to support what dc's putting out right now and generally stick with 2-3 monthly series from creators i sincerely love and a couple specials, which still comes to max £10-15/month. i can't think of any other hobby that's genuinely this affordable and this fun, i consider getting into comics to be one of the best thing that's ever happened to me

but all the same, i don't even believe people need to own any of this at all, they've just gotta read it to call themselves fans. it's the simplest thing in the world.

Since there is barely anybody that looks at this blog now, imma say some things now that I'll reveal later on Twitter (maybe). Also this is gonna be a long read so you can read if you wanna or not. Its kinda a rant.

I started this blog because I liked Dragon Ball and wanted to share my ideas and things I liked with other fans. I enjoyed that. Krillin is my favorite character so I wanted to show him some love & maybe get more ppl to like him. Then eventually I started drawing nsfw art.

I began doing so because there's a great lack of Krillin positive nsfw art. Eventually on my Twitter, I gathered a following that like to see Krillin getting some love. I also went from sfw with my OC Tobi to drawing nsfw. The problem I have with both is that I don't have time as much to draw what is like to. Nor do I care as much for nsfw art.

So this is what I'm trying to say. I have other things I want to do. I draw for free and accept some requests. I'm not getting paid and I feel like I'm wasting my time somewhat. The positive is that more ppl have come to like Krillin and hopefully more will later. There aren't a lot of nsfw artist that promote Krillin. Its all about Saiyans and I understand why. I like Saiyans too. But its always at the expense of human characters that I like especially Krillin.

I'm seriously tired of it, ya know? Its just such negativity. I've tried to combat it with positivity and that does work but that's not what most ppl seem to care about or see. Krillin means a lot to many of us. Yes, we know he's a fictional character but he's someone we can latch on to and see ourselves in. How he constantly tries hard and doesnt give up despite having low self-esteem. He is very relatable and an encouraging character. So understand that it frustrates me and others when ppl keep making fun of a character we love just because of memes that are very innacurate, he's short, he's married to what most of the fandom consider the most attractive female in the series (so they're jealous of him to an extent), or when ppl downright degrade his character.

Why? Why treat a positive character so negatively? Ppl make fun of Krillin because he has PTSD but won't make fun of Future Trunks. They trash his marriage and make it seem as if 18 doesn't care for him because he has the most stable marriage in the series. They call his daughter an ugly troll but want to see her in hentai with some Saiyan. Such hypocrisy. That's why I've drawn some of the things I have.

There are drawings I've done that I haven't posted because they are so disrespectful to characters like Vegeta or Gohan. And I love Gohan so that's a reason why I never posted them. I'm a positive person but it seems many ppl only respond to negative. So here's what I've done/plan to do.

I have some comics planned to draw along with some pictures. The pictures vary on what they will be, but the comics... Here's what they are.

I will be making NTR comics starring Krillin but he is the main character. There are too many of him being portrayed as a wimp or punk that lets everybody get with 18 besides himself. Or its done behind his back. So I'm going to have Krillin taking other character's ladies from them. Yeah its negative in a way but also positive for Krillin. Maybe this can get the point across to ppl? Idk.

But I will make a comic where Krillin gets Videl, Bulma, & Chichi. I will make others where he gets into "situations" with characters like Kale & Caulifla, Cheelai, & others. I also plan to make a comic about Roshi basically being cucked by Krillin (you'll have to wait and see to understand that one). So that's what I have planned. Hentai comics with Krillin as the lead. Its unpopular and that is why I do it.

I'll make other more positive comics too. Like a comic about Krillin getting advice then marrying 18. Ill draw stories with my OC Tobi as he lives with Krillin and his family & dates Marron. It will focus on the Chestnut family and have father/son moments with Krillin & Tobi. And ill introduce other characters too.

But here's the big thing that contradicts everything I said prior. I don't want to draw DB anymore. The fan base has kinda wore me out but so has the direction the series has gone. In bored of the writing for DBS and it being solely about Goku & Vegeta when there are other characters like Gohan & Piccolo. Its a fighting anime so why would we only want to see 2 characters? God ki was introduced so that's an easy way for everyone to get stronger and involved. But its too corporate now and lazy. And the DBS manga... so terrible. Toyotaro is a much better artist than I am and not to talk bad about him but I think DragonGarowLee is much better for the position that Toyo. DGL knows how to choreograph fights better and understands Toriyama's comedy better. Toyo doesn't know how to write the characters. He makes Goku an uncaring idiot, makes Vegeta a poorly written Goku clone, makes fun of Krillin for no reason except he doesn't like him (seriously! He has called him ugly, weak, scared, useless, & had ppl like Goku and Roshi insult Krillin. Wtf?!), he doesnt know how to create a unique character without ripping off a character Tori has done much better. And the fanboys (& girls)

Gosh! The Vegeta fans are great but they can be crazy sometimes. They ignore all the evil Vegeta has done and ignore his flaws as if he's a perfect angel. Vegeta's flaws is what makes him such an interesting character! And him being different than Goku is a good thing. But there's a weird and false understanding of his character. "Vegeta is a better dad than Goku" sure. Vegeta just knocked up Bulma then left her as. Single mother and didn't care if she or his infant son died, never hugged his son until he was 10+ yrs old & didn't love Bulma until sometime during the 7 yr time skip. He was a terrible person in a terrible relationship! THEN he became a better person and actually loving to his family. That change is what make Vegeta great. Not his power level or how many kills he has or "cool moments."

That same twisted misunderstanding of Vegeta is similar to the misunderstanding of Krillin. Ppl think he's weak and a coward. But he fights aliens & beings stronger than him and even injures stronger opponents. He smiles in the face of danger and even gets excited during fights but is smart enough not to risk others lives. Krillin nearly killed Nappa, he would've finished Vegeta with the Spirit Bomb if Yajirobe didn't alert Vegeta that Krillin was attacking him, smart enough not to fight on Namek when they're outnumbered, took on aliens stronger than him, outsmarted them & escaped, protected both Gohan & Bulma, more skilled than Ginyu when he was in Goku's body, sacrificed his safety for others like Dende & Gohan, (for real tho, Vegeta didn't see 2nd form Freeza move but Krillin was fast enough to throw Dende out of the way and sacrifice his life. Krillin saw Freeza attacking and Vegeta who is supposed to be stronger did not see Freeza move!), he was the first person to actually damage Freeza and then taunted the Emperor of the Universe, he's always there for his friends, knew better than everybody else that if the androids defeated Vegeta & Trunks then he shouldn't get involved. He saved 18 who was innocent in this timeline, helped 16, wished for the bombs out of 17 & 18 so they could live normally. Then fast forward to DBS he fought to protect his family & planet & 18 calls him "cool", he conquers his PTSD and gained new power he always had but laid dormant, he defeated someone who actually hurt 18. & there are things he's done I didn't even mention.

And ppl constantly saying Goku is a bad dad. He's waaaaaaaay better of a father compared to Vegeta if were being honest.

I guess I've seen a lot of the negative side of the fandom and its disappointing. So I'm at a point where I kinda don't care. I'll make my comics but after I'm done with what I have planned, I'm just done with DB. I won't stop drawing entirely but I won't draw any requests unless I feel like it, I won't keep up with much DB news and content. I just want to come back to Tumblr, draw Krillin fanart, draw Tobi, write some rewrites, draw Tobi's story & that's it. Ill be a part of Chestnut Fest every year tho. That is one of the greatest things to come out of my time on Tumblr & Twitter. So big thanks to @chestnutisland!

But basically I'm tired of the fandom and I still enjoy parts of it but I want to do my own thing. So I'll partially be a part of the DB fandom but not in it too deep. Look forward to what I have in store. If some of my future content isn't to your liking, hopefully you ccan find something else I've done that you'll enjoy. But its still been fun & I've enjoyed the ppl I've talked too & friends I've made.

Cause like, yeah sure she could be complex with a powerful arc where shes forced to come to terms with the fact she wasted years of her life on self-imposed delusions in a cathartic way, or she could be a flat piece of marketing cardboard which Disney is banking on vagina+superpowers=profit without having to go through that persnicty character flaw overcoming or the like. Because like you said, hearing shes a nobody (which ngl, her assuming she was a somebody wasn’t really ever supported in tfa, just that her family was coming back and she desperately wanted them to) is apparently the worst thing but it changes absolutely nothing, not her approach, not her demeanor , if vaguely sad is the absolute worse a character is gonna experience in a goddamn space opera then yeah, full offense ill take the l on Mary sue discourse but her character will definitely be a boring ass wash. We all make fun of whiny new hope Luke but him being a kinda nuisance to both the audience and those around him is what made is transformation into full blown Jedi knight so powerful. With Rey so far what weve got is badass perfect cinnamon roll finally get her due as such, which is clearly working for some people, but I fail to see how that isn’t spectacularly tone deaf to make a protag in this genre such. Operas about drama, not patting you on the back. Rey (assuming she remains as is) would’ve been fine as a protag s the only piece of Star Wars media we ever got was a new hope. But rn she a chosen one architype (and I know that bunch of ppl are gonna go but the series ‘but shes not the chosen one, Anakin still is, the new series isn’t trying to make her one!’ but lets not beat around the burning bush, if u got a character that walks on water and the reason why is because god said so, ur dealing with a chosen one trope and if a character is star wars is made ultrapowerful in lore breaking ways because force said so? Yeah were dealing with a chosen one.) when we had both the deconstruction and the reconstruction done. Shes a straight hero when the success of the ot rest on hitting the formula near perfect the first time. What exactly is Rey, the individual character, bringing to the table? What makes her story supposedly so important the a perfectly good ending had to be made invalid to tell it? A bunch of ppl will say heroines’ journey! But if that’s the case I gotta say, wheres all the feminine shit? Im serious, if the heroines journey is reintegrating the feminine and realizing ‘oh shit mom had a point’ there where is both the feminine skills/coping mechanism and the mom? I mean I saw some ppl arguing for leia in a ‘reys Persephone!’ meta (she isn’t, you can make a much better case for ben himself as Persephone to be quite frank, yall are focusing so much on the trees ((girl gets abducted by guy)) that u forgot the forest existed, the actually story ((girl winds up queen on the underworld, well gee whiz which character just took control of that after leaving the world of living and a grieving divine mother behind, it’s a mystery apparently) behind, it’s a mystery apparently) ((but seriously though even if we hope for dark rey does anyone assume its gonna be taking control of a dark/dead coded org at least partially at this point, do you, do you really??). but given the fact she had what, one line of screen dialogue that’s breaking ur arm with that stretch. As far as skills go I guess you could make an argument for scavenging, but if that’s the case dlf did a shit job of conveying that as female-coded. Everything about rey in tfa seems deliberately androgynous, and yeah, she had her hair let down/mascara moment, but that’s tied to her ‘failure’ on the supremacy thus something nw.SPEAKIGN OF FAILURES ON THE SUPERAMCY AND LACK THERE OF. I find it kind funny that bunch of reylo bnfs (you know who they are) are all ‘hur dur fanboys/antis are dumb and don’t get story structure.’ And then going, ‘why are yall asking how/assuming rey fucked up in throne room/climax of her story in the second portion/darkest point of her character arc? Why do you hate women/ur own ovaries so much?’ because it like walking into a prefurnished house and being told by the relator ‘HERES THE LIVING ROOM’ and having no damn couch. It’s a living room, I expect a couch here. And in a movie where it’s the low point of a character arc and they drag puppet yoda out to tell me the movie is about failure, I expect a damn failure in whats clearly the climax of the characters arc for this movie. As it stands now there are three possibilities imo. 1st, rey had no failure, she is the pure badass maid o light ppl want and every inch the boring cardboard she is accused of by fanbros, remains static, and is relegated to an also ran to benlo taking the most compelling character trophy this trilogy in 10 yrs2nd possibility and the one im hoping for, failure speech wasn’t just thematic explanation but also foreshadowing, rey fucks up big and dramatic in a way that makes her manage to stand out as unique with both her contemporaries and her predecessors(last part, if its ever to much lemme know pls im sorry i just gotta get it out) 3rd and most likely possibility, rey isn’t the main character, benlo is and that’s why his failure both moral in the throne room and logistic on criat take center stage for the last third or so of the movie. Rey is merely a pov character to tell the dramatic villain protag story they wanted and have their very marketable unproblematic Disney heroine cake too.

Ok, so this discourse kinda died down by now, but thanks to that it’s possible to maybe have a calmer look at it I’m totally not trying to justify my late response.

Anyway, the good result is that quite recently my brother, who’s not overly taken with Rey - or the sequels in general, for that matter - said something which really stuck with me as a possible crux of the problem: 

She’s neither comical nor tragical. Just bland. 

This neither comical nor tragical really struck me. And the more I though about it, the more it was appearing to me that this qualm really applies to the sequels as a whole. The thing is that DLF are essentially telling a straightforward story that they’re trying to make captivatingly convoluted. And not just make, but keep this appearance over four years. And this is... a narrative teeth crasher. Like, when you’re honest about the endgame (in the context of the most structural meanings of comedy and tragedy), you can maintain a decorum, though you can also play with it, of course, whereas when you don’t want to be honest about the endgame, you end up mixing the styles somewhat messily. You can’t break or discuss with the rules without acknowledging them, so to speak. Because the originals were honest about the happy/hopeful endgame (the first episode is title A New Hope ffs), they could allow themselves deeply tragic moments like Larses’ deaths, Han getting frozen, destruction of Alderaan, etc. Because the prequels were open about being a tragedy, they could allow themselves lighthearted comic relief for the sake of lighthearted comic relief. 

The sequels... badly want us to consider the possibility of FO winning and Ben dying unredeemed while simultaneously insisting we root for those things not happening, while appearing conscious we’re definitely not buying the former and the latter only somewhat. And it’s tiresome. Dishonest. And indeed, bland. If the story is a tragedy it will be a bloodcurdlingly real one, if it’s a comedy it will be a borderline grotesque one. 

But yeah, returning to Rey, I guess as the main character she’s a lens which focuses the above problems. A very bitter tragedy of what her parents did t her prevents her from being comfortably comical whereas whoohooos I like thats and prancing like a husky on red bull over idols and visions because it’s for children so it must be hopeful prevents her from being intriguingly tragical. So I guess the intentioned effect was tragicomism but, from pov of an engaged casual fan that is my bro, it’s neither. 

As far as Rey’s heroine’s journey lacking some of the usual elements, I blame it on Disney being... a bit too ambitious, maybe. I think they tried to make a heroine’s journey that isn’t ostentaciously seeped in traditional feminine/masculine traits, maintains the structure without what could be called accidentals. On the one hand, I would point out that hero’s journey has pretty much desexualised itself over time, we are rather accustomed to “shero’s” journeys, but on the other... maybe Disney set out on a too novel a territory and may crack their teeth on it, alongside trying to out-Vader Vader at redemption. To elucidate, “toxic femininity” in which a heroine is supposed to find herself in the beginning of her journey, in Rey’s case is uprooted from any of our usual concepts of feminine-masculine social roles (it’s space, duh). My interpretation is that Rey’s version of toxic femininity kind of exists in contrast with Kylo Ben’s version of toxic masculinity - and since the apparent focus of the story is the attitude towards the past/parent figures, toxic femininity would mean her clutching onto the past. Which is why I predict that some act of IX will find Rey inebriated with apparent success in masculine world, meaning she’ll be the one rejecting the old gods this time - and I would point out that panel in Poe comic where she shows herself more sceptical towards idolisation of past don’t mind me, I’m just expressingmy trash dreams for a proper sith lady Rey.

Then again, Rian Johnson said she already found perfect balance between Luke’s clinginess and Kylo’s rejection of the past, so... idk, maybe I’m giving DLF too much credit again.

As for the Persephone thing, I guess the rub is that this reylo reading focuses less on the traditional reading of the myth (where Demeter is the actual main character and Kore is a Princess Peach MacGuffin) and more of an interpretation of it as one of the eldest (at least in Europe) versions of story depicting a transition of a girl into a woman, making Persephone more of a protagonist.

I’m no expert, but myths can lose their original meanings because of power relations (anyone still remember about Dionysus, the god associated with excessive drinking, going through a very Christ-like death and resurrection?) and I think it’s possible that this is the case with the story of Persephone becoming a pre-scientific explanation of seasons changing over the year. So teah, that’s how I always understood the Persephone theme regarding Rey.

But yes, I must agree that I’m confused about Disney’s handling of the mother figure, which... Look, SW became a legend of a modern myth because of how epically Lucas handled the hero dealing with his very explicit father. So yes, I don’t understand what exactly is their game with Rey Nobody from Nowhere in this regard. It’s one thing that they had a cool idea with giving her no lineage, another that parent figures are an essential element of archetypal journeys and from symbolic viewpoint the case of a female character the biological relationship is even more crucial than in male’s. And I swear to all the ewoks and porgs in the galaxy, I do hope Disney’s idea of Rey healing the mother/daughter divide isn’t through her healing the divide between Leia and Ben. Again, this isn’t the idealistic sphere. Just... no. 

Anyway, I still maintain hope (this whole meta blog is built on hope) that Rey will indeed turn out to have a proper personal mistake which will make her stand out in the saga. I do have to admit, though, that I find your last theory very likely. I mean, even when I read all the reylo metas going oh, Rey is going to have such an exciting arc in IX, she has so much to deal with though of course it’s not going to compromise her morally, it will be sooo exciting, I just... f*ck’s sake, what you’re describing isn’t a dramatic character only a dramatised role model. It’s great if that’s your thing, but don’t claim it is space opera-worthy, in operas people drown themselves because of cursed sailors, kill over a break up, decapitate over a bad dream and get dragged to hell over a dinner, not persuade their fallen lovers to change their ways, let alone patienly wait for them the understand the error of their ways (and if they do it’s doomed to end in someone dying).

Hello all my fans, friends, and followers. We have come a long way from when we first started this book. It was originally just a side project, a random Idea that came to my mind at the time. After reading TONS of Undertale fan-fictions and comics, seeing all this fan art, (and working on actual side projects that was sadly never completed or never got posted, still have all my work but some of it is just terrible lol) I finally decided what to find out what it’s like to write a story based on the reader’s side of the story.

technically, my first readers view was a different book called “Finding Myself”. My first attempted of a reader’s P.O.V. book with Underfell!Papyrus/Reader/Underfell!Sans relationship. it was also my first experimentation of a 3-way relationship. It was about how our dear reader fell into a teffying place, Underfell and was found by UF!Sans. he took her back to his place where later on you meet UF!Papyrus and you fake a relationship with UF!Sans in order to live. UF!Papyrus gains an interested in you and thats when things started going wrong. you realize you have this dangerous amount of power and it becomes a terrible problem. (There’s a brief description on ‘finding myself for those of you who are interested.)

I had never attempted anything like it before and unforchanetly, I have gone on a hiatus on it due to lack of motivation and that this book is pretty much the only work I was focused the most on when I started getting more and more encouragement and suggested just pored in so when ‘Monsters under my bed, took off ‘Finding Myself’ was sadly left behind as of many of my other works. However, that doesn't mean I abandoned it. As of my other works.

See when I get an Idea I always write it down and come back to it, because life can get very, very busy. So I can always come back to any work I choose even if years had past. Pretty neat huh. However, in order for me to get the motivation to return to any past works, I need motivation (such as comments, like’s and suggestions). So for those of you who want me to work on older work you gotta tell me. But thats not why you guys are here.

I didn't post descriptive change’s for those who haven’t read it but are interested so sorry no one can see the actual change’s (unless they are an editor) until the update has been completed. With the drastic change in chapters and lengths i feel it be to comfusing to post as I go along so it will have to wait till me and my best friend @SofiatheHedgehog I highly suggest you check her out on Wattpad. she is a very talented Author who’s been helping on this project. my sonic characters: a masterpost

I used to have more but i gave some of them away so i dont feel like i should mention them here (even if those designs are not in use anymore)

1) Saph the hedgehog

This is Saph. He’s a 18/19 year old disaster gay trans boy.

I change his shoe design literally every single time i draw him. :)

I’ll go in depth about his past later.

Saph is pretty much all over the place and forgets to be considerate of other peoples feelings sometimes. He might come off as very egoistic of self centered, but he does actually care in his own kind of way (even when its. kinda bad bc he gives off wrong signals sometimes and ends up hurting people hes close to)

He’s looked up to Sonic ever since he was small and he collects all of the Sonic comics and video games. His dream is to meet Sonic and win against him in a fight.

Shadow is his big idol in many things so he tries to be edgy sometimes or act tough but he fails miserably most of the time and makes a fool of himself; which he doesn’t really mind because he can take a lot of things with humour (sometimes too much). He also uses white eye liner to imitate shadows marks, and he dyes some parts of his fur white to make the marks he already has extend to look more like shadows.

Shadow was the person that taught him how to control his chaos powers, because he’d always just weakened himself in the past, because he is super unstable. (If it wasnt for Shadow he probably would have died by now.) Shadow also was the one that told Saph to go to Tails for help with the buckles on his wrists and the rings on his ankles. They are made of a material similar to shadows rings (tails tried his best to replicate them) so they would help keep the energy in Saph balanced. Due to his strong affiliation to Chaos Energy, he could technically even turn super; but his body would be unable to hold the immense amount of energy and begin to literally burn down to ash within a few minutes.

He is very gay and in a relationship with Ezra.

He’s on T and has not yet had top op. (his bobbies smol its all muscle >:3€ )

2) Red the hedgehog

Red is 25/26 years old and works at GUN as special agent. Sometimes he and Rouge get drunk in her club at night and joke about tearing that organization down (or maybe they are not joking)

he’s pansexual and horny 24/7. He has a girlfriend and is in an open relationship. hes polyam if you didnt guess it askdsajh

he’s blind in the right eye and has a tattoo of a star on his chest

(here’s his gijinka because i just. hes hot. he used to be the one character that had like 30 fangirls on deviantart and each of them would comment “nosebleed” every time i uploaded)

ANYWAYS

Saph and Red. They are brothers.

*WARNING: abusive parents, transphobia, homophobia, violence

When red was a young lad and Saph was still a baby their father snapped and beat Red up with an iron bar, making him blind on his right eye. Red took Saph and ran away from home.(Their mother died at saphs birth)

They lived and still live in a city a litte farther off Empire City.

Red decided to go to an orphanage because he could not possibly take care of an infant. (granted his dad couldnt either but it seemed the best possible solution)

They lived in the orphanage for a few years, but saph very soon showed sighns of being trans and got bullied by the other kids. they would call him gay and tr*nny and kick him until he fell silent to endure his “punishment”.

Red couldn’t take it and decided to run away with Saph again. They lived on the street for a while, but Red was caught by GUN for stealing. Once they found out he had a form of chaos powers (even if weak) they decided to let him slide and hire him as Special Agent.

Red accepted this and uses the money he ears to make sure Saph has a good life. This kinda spoiled Saph a little, but he also deserved it lets be real here.

Red made sure to enable saph to get education (which he totally refuses to acknowledge and take seriously) and physical transition.

3) Ellectra “Ellie” the tenrec

[ pardon me being inconsequent with the design omg ]

Ellie is a 20 year old functional asexual demiromantic lesbian who is not interested in dumb boys and would rather talk about science with a pretty girl.

She can manipulate electricity and is called “Daughter of Zeus” by the townsfolk in her home island called Coral Island, which is located near the windsmil isles in Apotos.

She studies archeology and gaia mythology/ancient history, which makes it very convenient that she lives nearby an actual gaia temple. (She wants to be like lara croft one day)

At the 2005 black arms invasion her mother got heavily wounded when she tried to protect the town from the aliens and died from the aftermath.

Ever since then Ellie hates Shadow with a burning passion and holds him responsible, because she believed the government propaganda (provided by GUN ofc) that Shadow is One Of The Aliens. If she was ever to meet him she would be FURIOUS and ready to murder (she knows he cant die though).

She tried not to focus too much on that and just. do her cool ancient stuff.

Here are her parents Chion and... the mother i had still not found a good name for.

5) Chion the tenrec

This gentleman is 40+ years old and proud father of Ellie.

Hes also a het ace.

Chion is greek for snow (as far as google translate goes) and he was named that bc of his white nose lmao. its like a snowflake on his black body.

He doesn’t have any elemental powers, but he is naturally very strong and will punch anyone who comes close to his family. He can also use swords and is a skilled swordsman.

He inherited an olive farm from his family and he does keep it going. He makes his money selling olive products he does make himself.

6) Athena the hedgehog

Athena was the daughter of the “major” of the island that the family lived on (coral island), so she was expected to become the new major once he had to retire.

Due to the location of the island and the geographical landmarks on it, many raiders (and also eggman) have great interest in the ruins and mythological places. Athena is not one to give in easily and defended her people and the island from many intruders.

She possessed a less particular (than Ellie), but still fierce power of lightning manipulation. Having used her powers excessively, she sustained severe damage to her arms which showed as lighting shaped scars. She showed them with pride, because they meant she had fought hard to get where she was now.

She was bisexual and married to a tenrec called Chion. She was a year older than him.

The rings Ellie wears on her wrists were her mom’s.

7) Frost the snow leopard

Frost is a 15 year old demiboy who really just wants to have a good time. He hasnt really given his sexuality much thought.

He lives in a small village in Holoska; hes actually even met the werehog. Well he saw him. but he was too afraid to talk to him because holy shit its Sonic The Hedgehog!!!!!!!

He has ice powers!!!!

His insides are like -18°C and he cant eat anything that is hot. He has to eat cooked meals when they are room temperature, or even cooled down to fridge temperatures ( about 6°C).

He basically lives off ice cream and dry meat (if they get fancy food from the city he gets frozen pizza) He thinks of going to the UF for college, but he doesnt really know what he wants to do with his life yet so hes just having fun snowboarding.

8) Mitzu the Cheetah

Mitzu is 22 years old and owns a flower shop/chao garden combo where she takes care of chao, while taking care of flowers and breeding them. Her hydrokinesis powers are very helpful in that!

She loves nature and the outdoors and feeling the grass under her feet, so she doesn’t wear shoes/socks. Ever.

She generally is very free spirited and optimistic!

Shes a big sapphic but shes also okay w being single atm.

Her chao are like children to her and she loves the chao that get left in the garden as much as her own. (ppl leave their chao there when they cant watch over them anymore or if they go for a vacation and cant take them with them or smth)

9) Dan the red panda*

Dan is 17 years old and a big homo.

He has no special powers, except being able to eat and sleep more than the average person.

He’s from a very rich family, but his parents insisted in him finding a wife to like. pass down the heritage but he aint having none of that so his punk ass ran away from home to be his gay self and study art. 

He lives in a tree house a little off a small village in a more rural area in east UF, near station square. let the depression boy be happy...

10) Yoshi the siamese cat

Yoshi is a 20 year old enby kitty who wants to make the world a gayer place!

They are studying fashion design in hope to one day open their own fashion store for queer people! The clothes are made with body differences in mind and they also want to offer a free customization service to fit clothes to every single body type.

They don’t have any special powers as of now but i kinda want to give them a power that could be helpful with their goal Im still thinking about it ...

11) Joel “Spirit” the Husky

Spirit is fresh ripe 14 years old and Sonic the hedgehog is his big big idol. He wants to be JUST like him when he grows up.

It has come to my attention that he is basically the sonic universe Deku and I may or may not be planning to write a fanfiction for that...........

He doesn’t have any special offensive powers, but he has orange blood and he has the ability to read the Chaos Signature of anything he encounters. (called: Chaos Vision)

This means he will immediately know if a person he meets has super powers and he will also know what that power is. He can also guess the emotions of people because they are tied to the kind of chaos energy that surrounds a person.

12) Aurora the Husky

Spirit’s Sister!

Her name is Aurora and she also has Chaos Vision!

She was born blind, but she’s been able to see with her power, so that’s just what the world looks like to her: Darkness with many many colorful lights.

Over time through hard training she was able to perfect her vision and be able to distinguish between a lot of things and even see things that only have very little chaos energy in them!

13) Axel the Axolotl*

I don’t really have much info on them I made them pretty random one day bc i thought. hey. .... what if... axolotl sonic character.

14) Azul the cat

Azul is my sonicsona kinda. He was pmuch my persona b4 i was kin w shadow. 

He’s an edgelord and i guess he’s still technically me; or rather what i want to be. 

He’s already on T and has has top op and he does not crumble away under social anxiety like i do askjdsakjd.

15) ( UNKNWOWN) the Pangolin*

Similar to Axel I didn’t think much about him yet......  

he’s aroace and kinda goofy but he cares for his friends. He can roll up and do spin dashes and homing attacks like sonic, but he obviously doesnt have his super sonic speed.

16) Coal the hedgehog

Coal is one of the newest of my characters; but he’s also one of my oldest. 

You see, Coal is a revamp of a very old crappy fanchild i had back in like 2012.

New Coal is 27 years old and a gay mess. He can turn into a cloud of smoke and control it at will. He is completely immune to physical attacks. try to stab/shoot him and u ded. hes coming for u.

he steals, but only from rich ppl. hes chaotic neutral tho bc he keeps that shit for himself safhsaljfha he generally just wants to chill and have his peace. 

he loves being an edge lord though he just wants that image for himself, even though he is kinda a softie... hes good at keeping up an act in dangerous situations though and that sometimes scares attackers off (also his powers)

Nia is the daughter of a shamaran professor and a woman who owns a boulongerie in spagonia. She joined the ARK program in hope to make the world a more accepting place.

Hikari is is from an island near chun-nan (japan) and she also joined the program in hope to be able to help make a change for the better. she also enjoys biology and genetics a lot.

Theodor joined purely because of his joy in working on genetics and robotics that immitate life. He’s innitially from the GUN team but was assigned to work with Gerald.

20) Commander Jonathan Williams

old art again sorry sakjfhsakj. He is the father of the current GUN commander! He’s 52 and a total douchebag. He’s kinda mad with power and genuinely believes that putting shadow under pressure to become the ultimate and strongest weapon (stronger than an atomic bomb) was necessary to end the war that was going on at that time.

I cannot spoil too much on what happened to each of these people as it’s spoilers for my fanfic.

21) Sidus “Nova” the black panther (and 22 Badass the Chao)

You see. The thing with nova is that i recycled him as human/demon character for a story sjkhfkafhsakj but he has shadow powers where he can use all shadows as portals into a shadow dimension that is entirely his own. he can travel through that but it makes him very tired. he likes to store capri suns in there and just take em out whenever he wants. He has a Chao called Badass (pictured below)

She is new and I don’t have much info other than that she’s from a jungle area; perhaps in adabat.

She secrets a poisonous slime from her body; yet her spit has healing accelerating properties.

A gene defect lets her never lose her tail.

24) Nexus the demonic sheep hound

nexus is a demonic sheep hound mix?? idk i just didnt want to draw hooves aksfsakhfa

they can manipulate metal and bend it in any shape they want

however they cant make it float n shit like youd think of metal powers like magneto jsfhsakjf they can literally just. shape it like play-doh but with their mind

they wear those gold rings so when theyre in a pinch they can just make a bunch of cool knifes of a sword n be like SURPRISE BITCH IM NOT JUST PRETTY. IM PRETTY DEADLY!

whenever shit like this happens people start debating if it was even really queerbaiting and start accusing people of just being mad because their ship didnt become canon. in the case of voltron i literally gave zero fucks about ships. i wasnt really into the fandom, i had seen all the episodes, but i didnt ship anyone in particular. and then they announced that one of the main characters was going to be lgbt and even have a partner! i got really excited and thought “maybe i can get invested in this”. yeah, luckily i didnt, because we all know how that turned out. 

so many people (usually straight people, but also a surprising amount of lgbt people) like to reduce outrage over queerbaiting to ships, because it makes it seem like something you dont have to take seriously. god forbid lgbt ppl just wanting to see people like them in a positive light in media.

is it still queerbait when the gay couple DOES appear, but one of them dies after 2 minutes? thats a thing i’ve heard a lot, because apparently the creators and a few fans think its not. they announced a gay couple and a gay couple was kinda on screen. i mean, you cant go against that logic when they reduce it to that, but the announcement of shiro being gay and having a boyfriend was a big thing at comic con. they saw what kind of impact it had on the crowd and online and they knew it would have that kind of impact. yet they still killed one half of the couple in under 5 minutes of screentime after KNOWING the fans were excited and hopeful for lgbt content. hyping something up like that and ending up giving the fans that little is still queerbaiting. its just all the more insulting when they justify it by saying the show isnt about romance, yet manage to fit in 3 brand new happy straight couples.

another thing that comes with all of this is fans saying stuff like “oh those nasty shippers are assaulting and harrassing the actors on social media!!! just because their ship isnt canon!!” which just isnt true 90% of the time. it is never right to go after the actors when they have little to no power over the storytelling. and most upset fans know that. making your disappointment and sadness known is something completely different than ‘insulting innocent actors’. the criticism is almost always directed exclusively at the people who are actually responsible for what happens on the show. like producers, writers, directors and, you know, people who loudly said they werent going to queerbait, knowing full well they would be killing a gay dude after what felt like 10 seconds.

same as with married couples, you cant hold an actor responsible for what their employer does. nobody should force somebody to take the criticism for what their spouse did on their own either. the situation changes however, when the actor/spouse involves themselves in the discussion and makes attempts to defend the behaviour. i’ve seen at least one actress defend it and respond to criticism of queerbait with the literal words “there was queer content, just not thee queer content you wanted” well DUHHHHHH nobody wanted the bury your gays trope, of course they are upset, there is no need to make this sound like yet another “youre just mad because your ship didnt kiss” kind of thing.

i’ve seen this happen a few times now. sometimes creators never explicitly state there would be a gay couple and never interact with people who ask about it, but will still capitalize off of fans who would love to see it happen (naruto). sometimes creators never explicitly say a gay couple is going to happen, but interact with fans who ask about it FREQUENTLY, capitalize off of them and also shape the marketing in a way that alludes to possible lgbt content (sherlock). and sometimes people straight up say theyll have a gay couple, promise there wont be any queerbaiting, capitalize off of this AND OTHER couples liked by fans, enjoy the wave of euphoria from lgbt fans, congratulate themselves for ticking off that specific box only to kill one half of the couple at the earliest possible moment and give all the happy moments to three straight couples they apparently had no time for (voltron, duh.). queerbaiting comes in different forms and with different intent. 

with naruto the creator most likely never wanted to make them a couple and never expected people to see any romance between them, so it was never publically addressed, but they sure saw that lgbt fans bought a lot of merch with the two of them on it and also really liked the vaguely shippy moments, so why not make money off of that.

with sherlock the creators have alluded to wanting a gay sherlock in the past, repeatedly vaguely hinted that something incredible and unbelievable was going to happen, knowing full well fans would believe that it was about gay rep and also knowing full well it would never come and at the end laughed at the fans for believing them and claimed they were seeing things that were never there. but they still took all their money, ofc.

with voltron they were apparently out for the lgbt money and clout. its so easy to get lgbt fans on the hook when you just promise the smallest possible representation, creators have learned that by now. but for some reason they havent learned that making false promises and driving up hopes will backfire extremely when the actual content doesnt match the hype. so now its of course the fault of the fans again, because they read too much into it, they had too high expectations. no word of apology for driving up those expectations though. that never comes. newsflash: nobody in their right mind believes a dead gay man with little to no screentime is good representation.

there is a reason why lgbt fans are perpetually suspicious when they are promised new lgbt representation. its like reaching a hand out to someone only to pull it back at the last possible moment and then laugh at the dumb idiot who went in for the handshake.

If Louis C.K. and Bo Burnham breached the laws of biology and birthed a second-rate, screaming son in the town of Reading, Berkshire, that son would be Theo Donovan. In terms of his actual birth, it wasn’t an all too different comparison. As a child, Theo was constantly energized and never seemed to know how to keep quiet or still. While most would coo and find entertainment from this little boy who loved to entertain, it never did sit right with his parents. They were always rigid in behavior and expectation, therefore finding it a great problem when Theo refused to conform to their standards about what a respectable, polite son should be. Now that’s not to say he was ill-mannered; he did most of the things they asked of him and the only times he really did act out was when they butted heads about anything from the tiniest petty fights to large scale arguments that had Theo leaving his house for days to sleep at a friend’s house. Okay, so it was safe to say home life was rocky and maybe that shaky territory eventually led to resent. He had his little sister and that’s really all that mattered.

With the attention unappreciated at home, he surely channeled that energy into time spent at school. Like most people who crave attention, it started with the stage. At a young age, he closely aligned himself with the theatre kids and was able to garner a sizable amount of friends and close peers through that. As time went on however, the stage didn’t feel like enough. Don’t get him wrong, he adored performing and putting on an act for large audiences, but it didn’t turn out to be what he wanted in the long run. Like a miracle, Year 10 brought a revelation he never really considered until he heard an offhanded comment from a friend. Humor was always at Theo’s side. It was his coping mechanism, his best friend, a solid weapon against any adversary he faced. He always figured: if he can joke about it, everything is okay. Paired with his complex of needing to please and entertain, it came as no surprise that Theo was soon known throughout his school years as the class clown, the funny guy. Gone were the days of the crowd laughing at him to jeer and poke fun, now they were laughing at him because he wanted them to. “This bloke, I’m telling ya. He could be a comedian,” they said. And that he became.  

No one was more surprised than Theo to discover that he quickly found success in Berkshire. Yet as his popularity in the U.K. grew, his parents’ distaste for what he was choosing to do with his life grew alongside it. The tension and resentment truly hit its peak when he was 17 - and his ‘career choice’ wasn’t received well because of how traditional and old school his parents were. And as much as he tried to make it seem like he could care less about what they thought, the barrage of doubtful comments that Theo won’t fully make it out of a sea of performers and comedians like him, that fame is fickle and will fade (with the belief that he was inherently wasting his time instead of pursuing something more “practical” - whatever the hell that meant) sooner got to him, and it hit hard. He always seemed to dance with depression and anxiety throughout his adolescence, but the insecurity and the doubt accumulated and had him spiraling in the worst attack that had him waking up in the A&E the next day and admitted for failed suicide attempt. Since that incident, he really tried to get better and vowed to never sink so low again if he could help it. Months later he decided it was time to move, so he hopped on over to London, heard about auditions for Applause, and was now a part of the cast. He couldn’t be happier because it was the perfect fit. He was a theatre kid after all, so being able to step into those shoes once again through improv is exactly where he’s always wanted to be. It’ll be his fourth season on the show.

Ooh boyFirst of all thank you for sending an ask! Now let’s go.3-Yes! Mainly bcuz of ships. Like there was one who shipped something with an age gap that made me uncomfortable and there was once bcuz they shipped a lesbian with a gay guy (just my headcanon btw). I think that’s it but I tend to be really petty so idk9-Well, in Dangan, it’d be Celeste, cuz she killed my fave (still like her design, and the way she’s written tho), Togami, and like, I understand his appeal and stuff, he’s just not my cup of tea, he’s too rude for my tastes, and that one pedophile from drae, and probably someone from the new game but I’m not sure just yet. But I don’t really hate them ( expect the one from drae), cuz that would require too much of my time, cuz when I hate something, I absolutely despise that something. So I basically like all of the characters, there are just some I’m neutral abt. 10- Well I didn’t like dr3 that much, but I don’t really hate it, I just think it was ok at best. But I think my most disliked parts are the ones that feel to rushed, like dr3’s ending, the chapter 3 on dr1, their constant use of hope vs despair and the talent vs effort thing that was barely touched on the dr3 anime, and that went nowhere cuz Hajime kept his Kamakura superpowers and was only capable of getting his happy ending bcuz of it, that really bothered me, but only bcuz they brought it up on the first place, cuz if they didn’t I would be fine with Hinata having all of those powers, but NO we gotta be deeper than that or whatever.And also, I don’t like the heterosexual arcs, but those are kind of more abstract, but you know what I mean; character development that came from forced straight romances; characters bonding out of nowhere and the game acting like they are already married, while treating the gay relationships like jokes; reducing character interactions and forcing a boy into every girl, reducing her character( the biggest examples being Akane and Peko, I think); killing badly written love interests for the sake of angst and character development; yadda yadda,the list goes on, you get the idea.23-Ok don’t freak out or anything.Saionji, Teru and YamadaLike, don’t get me wrong, they are all terrible people, but I don’t hate them as much as the fandom does, I kinda of like all of the potential they have.Like, Teru is a passionate chef, who came from a poor family, so he tries to act all fancy, he’s pround of his sexuality, and bi/pan characters are a rarity, specially the ones who are so ok with it. So while he is a terrible person, and really bad representation (Cuz y'know, bi perverted guy) but I love the lost potential there was, and I specially like his backstory, his cute mom, and what the writers could have done with him if he wasn’t reduced to a comic relief all the time. And also he tried to kill Komaeda, so bonus points.I like Hifumi for the same reasons, lost potential and I like how much he loves anime and his SHSL, and he wasn’t as bad as Teru even though he was annoying and bland most of the time. And I aldo feel kind of bad by what happened to him in chapter 3, he genuinely wanted to help Celeste and really thought he was doing the right thing, but in the end he died just because he trusted in the wrong person.And also I like their designs.Now for Saionji, on the first playtrough I hated her, she was just plain mean and even without that I didn’t think she was that interesting, but thanks to certain ppl that I follow I started liking her more, then I noticed just how much she was suffering through out the game, with Mahiru’s death and stuff, she seriously didn’t have a break after that and I felt really bad for her. So after a while, I just started liking her more. (And also I like Faulero’s interpretation of her character, with her being a “Meta Brat” bcuz Saionji never took any shits from other people, and she’s really good at reading their insecurities, like what she did with Souda)But I totally understand why the fandon hates this characters, it’s kind of hard not to, so I don’t care if people dislike them. I usually like the character’s lost potential more than anything really. And since in pretty much all of these cases are just writers not caring enough abt their characters to give them more development and not make them into bland stereotypes, and whenever there’s a character who suffers from this thing, I just change the character for my personal liking.That said, other unpopular characters I like are Nekomaru, Sakura, Monomi and Akane. But I really believe these guys don’t deserve to be disliked, especially Nekomaru! Like, Akane and Monomi I can understand, but Nekomaru literally sacrificed himself twice just so ppl he cares abt could live. And Sakura also sacrificed herself just so a bunch of ungrateful kids and her girlfriend could live, and it hurts even more cuz almost everyone was scared of her, two of them even tried to kill just because she was “scary looking” and she was able to stop the murders, cuz after she died, the only other death was the mastermind’s. I really think those two are unpopular cuz muscles are harder to draw, but it makes me sad that they are so underrated.And also I love Akane’s free time events, and she’s a “I’M GONNA PUNCH YOUR FACE, I’M GONNA PUNCH MY FACE, I’M GONNA PUNCH MY FEARS AND ANXIETIES” type of character, I love those characters, they are usually so tragic and beautiful.So yeah, thank again for asking and sorry for taking so long!!Love answering things!Byyyyeee!

Today, a Zenyatta was doubtful i picked Symmetra on attack on comp, and a bit later he was helping me a lot and praising me and i usually dont get that love playing symmetra and its beautiful.

My favorite parent-child relationship

- ever since i wrote that one l’arachel/eirika drabble abt eirika coping w/her father’s death, i’ve been really interested in what fado and eirika’s relationship was like during peacetime.  they obviously had a strong bond, since seth physically had to pick eirika up and carry her away from fado at the beginning of the game.  i wonder, tho, if fado and eirika’s relationship was more like her dynamic w/seth (where she’s an idealized Lady whose agency he quashes while thinking he’s doing what’s best for her) or her dynamic w/ephraim (where he helps train her to fight and amplifies her voice b/c he knows she gets shot down a lot).  

My favorite sibling relationship

- forde and franz have a really under-rated dynamic, and i love how the very tight continuity in most of forde’s supports gives you a lot of different views of their relationship.  i like their take on an older sibling having to raise the younger in the wake of parental death, esp since forde doesn’t become a distant or overbearing figure to franz.  franz definitely idealizes him, but it’s more in terms of wanting to be like his big brother than it is desperately wanting the approval of someone who’s half-brother, half-father to you.  in a similar vein, i also love tethys and ewan for many of the same reasons.

My favorite family relationship (other)

- l’arachel and her uncle!  even tho he’s only in a few chapters, it’s really clear how much he loves and trusts his niece, and how much he means to her in return as a parental figure.  

My favorite friendship between two people

- ig i’ll plug ephraim + myrrh here?  they’re obviously going for a found family sibling dynamic (blessedly free of anything gross, as low as that bar is), and lifespan gap relationships are very interesting from a platonic angle, too.  i just like how sweet ephraim is to myrrh in their supports/on his route.

My favorite friendship between a group

- there are so many Layers in the relationship between the twins and lyon that ppl much more articulate and much better-versed in fe8 than i am have talked abt.  i love all the ambiguity of who lyon really was/is, how much of what we see of him ingame is formortiis and how much, even in the flashbacks, was the ugly corners of himself that he’d kept from leaking out until then.  eirika gets a lot of flack for her scene w/lyon at the end of the lava chapter (20, iirc?), but i think it’s a pretty realistic reaction on her part--a friend you thought you knew so intimately going thru a drastic change is stressful and confusing even w/o war and demonic possession in play.  despite its fantastic elements and Token Nonhuman Final Boss (tm) (who is at least not a dragon), i think fe8 is much more of a human drama ala fe4 and esp fe5, w/the twins’ and lyon’s various relationships really at its core.  if you buy into eirika and ephraim’s split chapters taking place simultaneously, the different ways lyon presents himself to each twin are especially effective in drumming up a sort of psychological horror air, almost?  it’s just a really interesting group dynamic to consider from any angle.

runner-up goes to l’arachelsquad, mostly b/c they’re fun levity to the subtly grim tone w/o getting too hackneyed in their comic relief.  dozla crying at l’arachel’s wedding to eirika gives me the Fee Fees, too.

My favorite mentorship

- i had to restrain myself from answering amelia and duessel under the parent-child section, since they read so much like a found family.  their supports are quite possibly my favorites in the game, and their ending is infinitely more satisfying than any of amelia’s romantic ones.  in my dream 3ds remake of fe8 w/voice acting and modern mechanics w/o modern mu dating sim bullshit, i’d love to see them get an a+ support.  

My favorite rivalry

- i get a good chuckle out of ephraim and innes’ shounen manga rivalry, ngl www  i was amazed at their lack of supports, which i think would have good potential for a balance of comedy (at both of their expenses lmao) and exploration of both as leaders.

My favorite hatred/antipathy

- does lyon/himself count, b/c like.  in seriousness, i love how eirika gets to give valter what for--cormag has just as much of a stake in that unique battle dialogue, but i usually let eirika take valter out b/c it’s just so satisfying.  valter def teeters on the edge of cartoonish villainy, but i think his particular brand of creepy misogyny stays believable and scary simply b/c there really are so many men out there who are just like that, minus the wyvern-riding bit.

My favorite potential relationship between characters who never talk in canon

- EIRIKA AND CORMAG, they don’t even need to have a romantic ending, i just want them to interact more, esp wrt how they see the concept of revenge.
