i thought this was so cute LOL they're friends :] i love how he goes all out on her weapon even despite the fact that she doesn't pay him for his work LMAO
#alabasta#nami#usopp#nami's stinginess and love of money is usually treated as a silly joke because like. she's a cartoon character and one piece is silly#but i think the way all her friends act about it and how they don't get in her way about it on purpose despite any annoyance#also shows a kind of respect (narratively) for her trauma relating to money#i think this series balances heavy stuff and silly fun stuff pretty well#and the amount of character growth she's gone through to be able to say openly 'thank you i love you!' to someone she considers a friend#AND MEAN IT is crazy. and im proud of her

OH YEA BTW SINCE THE VAS DECIDED TO GET EXTRA SILLY FOR MGAFS:
Earth's VA clarified (very passionately and consistently) that Earth DID NOT DIE from Bloodmoon that was a MISTAKE from Sun or Moon's VA (I can't remember which 😭), technically the old body died because it was broken beyond repair but she herself was perfectly okay!! So both her and Sun are untouched by the family theme of dying. She was just badly injured!
She also said she wants it to be canon that Earth can do a backflip! :]
KC's VA touched on the question of "why didn't it fight back against Bloodmoon?" and it was simply because it didn't care to 💔
#xero says things#also in a similar vein but it was on tlaes:#apparently the acts of killing old moon and lunar and eclipse w/ the star were to balance things out power wise??#or at least partially influenced by that#bc they said they kinda let magic get outta hand so they were like. ah.#we gotta nuke some of these characters who either are crazy powerful magic-wise#or crazy powerful function-wise (lunar's nanobody)#so. that's interesting!!#knowing the thinking behind those acts makes me more understanding of it tbh. like yea thats fair. w/ a series like this things can get-#-outta hand so u gotta retcon. oh well. shrug#sun and moon show#the sun and moon show#tsams#mgafs#sams earth#sams killcode#sams kc

this is useful context for how the former jujutsu system worked, and how it affected its sorcerers and their individual characterizations, i think. again, cultural context and setting matter a lot.
#i do enjoy some of gege's commentary through the series#i think 'cog mentality' and 'self-responsibility' and 'greater good' are all under the theme of 'self-determination'#(aside from love and power)#self-determination and the balancing act of oneself and the group#love's gonne get you killed but pride's gonna be the death of you and me#from kenny to kenny or something#jjk

ae recently learned that it’s likely that the impact of the meteor itself is not what wiped out the dinosaurs, but rather the meteor essentially disintegrating immediately and polluting the air that killed them
#in that sense it’s kinda like. a mix of the two most popular theories?#cause ‘really fuckin big volcano ‘splosion killed em’ was a common idea for a while#and it wasn’t the eruption itself but rather the pollution of the air as a result that was thought to have killed them#so it was a meteor that hit the earth that then polluted the air#(and while ae’m sure plenty died from toxins in the air or straight up suffocation)#(a lot more died because the plant life died and thus. starvation)#(also because the earth’s atmosphere hangs in a precarious balance and has caused mass extinctions on several occasions)#(hell literal bacteria just existing caused a global warming event when life was first getting its footing)#(we uh. we like science channels. we just don’t retain the actually important stuff)#(like how exactly the ‘whoopsie the earth’s gaseous contents are out of whack!’ thing works)#(what part of it? idk somethin about carbon dioxide probably)#(that definitely killed a fuck ton of things at least once)#(cause life started out breathing carbon dioxide and then started suffocating when oxygen became more abundant)#(and now we have a balancing act between plants and animals and those Other Things™️)#(y’know what? just. watch paleo analysis’ history of earth series and gutsick gibbon’s mass extinction video)#(they’ll both explain this shit infinitely better than ae can)

#so that dotd rewrite is out and i have some thoughts on it but i wouldn't know where to put them.. maybe in here bc i don't actually feel -#- like making a whole ass text post. this is coming from me as criticism and not hate.. just some crit from one fan to another if you get m#SPOILERS AHEAD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>#first off props to the team because this was obv a labor of love - 4 and a half years to make a feature long fan movie is hard work#and the animated stuff was a really nice touch and very commendable - you don't see them too often in big fanworks#in terms of the story well.. there are some things i like and some things that i don't (personally) again no hate#i'm aware this is a rewrite and boy howdy it IS a rewrite - though i am a bit sad that percy doesn't end up being the protagonist and it's#- thomas that has to play hero again.. like i kinda get it but what made the original dotd stand out was that percy was given the spotlight#so i spent an ungodly amount of time wondering when percy was gonna take charge or step into the main story to resolve the problem.. sigh#i liked that they tried to give norman more of a character bc a lot of characters do often get neglected in the series but it was kind of -#- hard to sell that for me? the twist in this rewrite was very creative and i do appreciate it but i guess it just ain't for me#“different” is ok and this is just one of many fan rewrites for this particular story#if there was something i enjoyed.. i guess the beginning was still kind of exciting because the set up was honestly like hype a bit#i liked that diesel and d10 actually got to interact face to face and there are clearer dynamics established for the diesels#and also. silverband's performances as d10 will always be fun he does a fantastic job voicing him (how d10 stole xmas will still be my fav)#my criticisms for this movie also derive from the pacing and the voice acting - i found it hard to try and understand tones sometimes -#- because the delivery felt so off.. like don't get me wrong not everyone in the fandom is a voice actor but if we're using static faces -#- for these fan works the delivery has to be a little more clear or else it'll sound like you're reading from a script.. sorry yall :"|#for the pacing i found it a bit hard to parse when some things were going on and how fast things were progressing#as well as the crashes.. that's also another thing bc i couldn't tell bc of the sfx and audio balancing - it could be better..#i wanna say. muffled voices do not substitute for a “far away”/off-screen voice bc i still can't hear it :“|#there were a lot of throwbacks and references to older thomas media/movies but some of them felt a little.. much?#if this is a dotd rewrite why are we getting some parallels with tatmr.. but i digress. at least they made diesel beef with duck a bit#there's a lot more i could say but i'm keeping those to myself. at the end of the day this fan movie was hard work for everyone involved#and you can tell some of the folks were having fun in there - props to them! i'm always glad to see more fan works in the community#we've come so far we're making feature length fan stories and rewrites that's crazy! i hope to see more in the future#fauxtrainpost.txt

Thought about Damian and Dick's dynamic for too long and now I need to level a city block
#ramblings of a lunatic#yes I'm still having comics brainrot just lesser now (after 1 (one) issue of a comic I didn't like lmao)#I'm specifically thinking about. is it issue 6?? of the joshua williamson robin run with damian#and the bit where dick gives him a special escrima stick Alfred made for him with ''against the world'' carved into it#and how he purposely lets damian escape and does the whole fake ''ohh nooo he's escaping someone come help *wink* routine''#I'm gonna combust!!!!#you could fix batman comics (/j) to me by just splitting the fam up a bit#you have two batgirls and two robins rn right?#well send damian and steph to bludhaven where they can team up with dick (ala the grant morrison run but dick is still Nightwing)#and then let cass and tim be bruce's supporting cast!!! less juggling to do and allows for more in-depth exploration of specific dynamics#also solves the issue of damian complimenting dick excellently but not having the same base-level rapport with bruce#just have damian finally conclude that he doesn't want to be batman and that him as robin doesn't work when he's with bruce#something about the idea that robin takes care of batman as much batman takes care of robin and that's not really bruce and damians dynamic#and as for Steph in bludhaven- she's colleged aged now! let her go to college in bludhaven#let her have the fun balancing act adventures from her solo series and again tackle her feelings of being an outsider#(also re-establish her and damians friendship. i miss them </3)#where's jason you ask? in space

steal my girl — gojo satoru
synopsis. the time gojo and megumi decided to crash your date.
contents. fluff, lovesick!gojo roping megumi into his loser activities, timeskips, tw sappy
notes. this drabble has been rotting in my brain for over a year. finally wrote it!
“I’m going on a date.”
It only took five simple words from you to make the world’s strongest jujutsu sorcerer drop to his knees. For the first time in his life, Gojo could swear he was experiencing shortness of breath. And was it just him, or were the walls closing in?
“What?” The word leaves his mouth like a demand rather than a question. He’s trying so hard not to overreact, but your overjoyed face makes it nearly impossible not to succumb to the ugly green monster clawing at his insides.
“Well,” you push his shoulder playfully. “Don’t act so surprised. You’re not the only one that pulls.”
“Don’t I know it,” Gojo mutters under his breath, eye twitching. Don’t you know how hard he works to deter any suitors vying for your attention when the two of you are out? He’s practically a rabid dog growling at anyone who so much as breathes in your direction.
Hell, even Shoko once mentioned to him something about being a “registered pervert” at most establishments you frequent together.
Not his finest moments.
You eye Satoru suspiciously before continuing. That was your first mistake.
“Yeah, he’s taking me to that new Michelin Star restaurant downtown,” you sigh dreamily. “I mean, seriously. Isn’t that so cool?”
Gojo scoffs, arms crossing over his chest. “If that’s what you wanted, you could’ve just said so. I know a place that has three Michelin Stars.”
You pout. “Well, it’s different with you.”
Gojo’s eyebrow quirks up. “How so?”
“You’re a friend. And with him…” You trail off, suddenly feeling shy under Gojo’s piercing gaze. Heat creeps up your neck, blooming across your cheeks as you toy with the hem of your sleeve. “It’s a lot more romantic.”
Gojo thinks he could just die.
The word romantic rings in his ears, and it was deafening. It digs into his ribs and squeezes at something raw inside him. He’s the strongest sorcerer alive, yet right now, he feels utterly powerless against the way your voice softens when you talk about someone else. Against the way your lips curve at the thought of another man.
He scoffs, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Romantic, huh?” His voice is light, teasing, but there’s an edge to it.
You nod, eyes glimmering with something dreamy, something distant, and Gojo wants to reach out and wipe it away. He wants that look—wants to be the reason for it.
If you wanted romance, he could give you romance.
Better romance.
A grand plan manifests in his head, spinning to life at full speed.
Oh, this poor guy doesn’t stand a chance.
The moment Megumi sees Gojo enter his and Tsumiki’s shared apartment, he knows something is wrong. There’s a certain energy in the air, a distinct lack of peace that Gojo drags with him that makes the eight year old’s stomach churn.
“Fushiguro!” Gojo’s voice rings out, far too enthusiastic for Megumi’s liking. “We have a problem.”
Megumi barely glances up from his book. “We?”
Gojo makes himself at home and slings an arm around his shoulders. “Yes, we. Our dear [Name] here has a date.”
Megumi's grip on his book tightens, his interest sparking at the mention of you. Where Gojo lacked maturity, you balanced it effortlessly. He liked that about you. He liked you.
Megumi blinks once. “And?”
Gojo sighs dramatically. “And we can’t just let her go unprotected, can we?”
“Unprotected?” Megumi repeats, deadpan. “From what? Bad table manners?”
“From heartbreak, Megumi!” Gojo places a hand over his chest, looking scandalized. “What if this guy is a total loser? What if he chews with his mouth open? What if he’s a handsy creep?”
Megumi’s expression darkens. He had been indifferent before, but now there’s a flicker of irritation in his eyes. He doesn’t like the idea of you being stuck with some no-good scrub who isn’t worthy. In a series of twisted events, you and that white haired idiot had managed to become the only constants in his life. The last thing he wanted was for some random guy to come along and take you away.
“We need to intervene,” Gojo presses, watching the flicker of hesitation in Megumi’s expression. His usual deadpan exterior is cracking, just a little. Gojo knows he has him.
Megumi exhales sharply, gripping his book a little too tightly. “I am not going to ruin their date.” His voice is firm, but there’s a sliver of doubt wedged between the words. Gojo seizes it like a cat pouncing on its prey.
“Ruin?” Gojo gasps, placing a dramatic hand over his chest. “Megumi, this is purely a background check.” His grin stretches.
Megumi glares at him. “It could be considered stalking.”
Gojo waves him off. “Pfft. Such an ugly word. I prefer ‘protective oversight’.”
“You don’t even know if he’s a bad person.”
Gojo tilts his head, feigning deep thought. “Oh, you’re right. Maybe he’s perfect. Maybe he’ll take such good care of her that we won’t be needed anymore.”
Megumi stiffens, and Gojo bites back a smirk.
“That’s not—” Megumi starts, but Gojo steamrolls over him.
“I mean, think about it. If this date goes well, they might actually start dating. And then what? She’ll start spending more time with him.” Gojo nudges him. “She’ll run off and start a new family.”
Megumi’s jaw tightens. “You’re ridiculous.”
“Ridiculously right,” Gojo corrects cheerfully.
Megumi runs a hand down his face, muttering under his breath. He already knows Gojo won’t drop this, and, annoyingly, he’s already planted the seed of doubt in his mind.
Gojo leans in, voice lower, almost serious. “You care about her, don’t you?”
Megumi exhales sharply. “...Yeah.”
“And you’d rather make sure she’s safe than sit around wondering?”
Megumi stares at him for a long moment, then groans. “Fine. But if this goes wrong, I’m blaming you.”
Gojo grins, clapping him on the back. “That’s the spirit! Now, let’s go before you start growing a conscience.”
The night was supposed to be perfect. A well earned break. It your first real date in a while. Probably your first since meeting Gojo. Though, strangely, you’d never stopped to question why that was.
The guy sitting across from you was a non-sorcerer, and while his looks had been enough to catch your attention when he first asked you out, the novelty was wearing off fast. His personality was as flat and each word he spoke draining more of your enthusiasm. You found yourself nodding along absently, barely listening, already regretting your decision.
Still, you just had to stick it out until the food arrived. Then you could eat, make an excuse, and be done with this painfully dull evening.
Though, just when you thought the night was starting to get interesting, a familiar voice cuts through the elegant ambiance of the restaurant.
“Mom, who is this strange man?”
Your choke on your wine at the familiar voice while your date stiffens.
You turn slowly, dread pooling in your stomach as you come face-to-face with Megumi, standing at your table with his arms crossed. His expression is perfectly deadpan, but you see the flicker of mischief in his eyes, a familiar gleam of mischief that could only be the work of a certain white-haired man lurking nearby.
“E-eh?!” You sputter, glancing between Megumi and your date.
Your date looks thoroughly confused. “Do you… know this child?”
“N-no—I mean, yes, but—”
Megumi doesn’t give you a chance to explain. Instead, he sighs dramatically, shaking his head. “And what will Gojo—Dad—say about this?”
The words slam into you like a truck.
Your date’s jaw drops. “You’re married?”
“N-no!”
“Then why is he calling you Mom?”
You glare at Megumi, but he just shrugs, completely unbothered.
“Come home,” Megumi continues with a sigh. “Tsumiki misses you too.”
“You have multiple children?!”
Your date looks absolutely horrified, like he’s just found himself in the middle of a scandalous affair. He shifts uncomfortably in his seat. “Listen, if you’re going through a divorce or something, we don’t have to do this—”
Before you can defend yourself, another, far-too-cheerful voice joins in.
“There you are, sweetheart!”
Gojo waltzes up to the table, dressed in his finest suit and those damn glasses he only wore on special occasions. He places a hand on your shoulder and turns to your date with an exaggeratedly apologetic expression. “Sorry, buddy, but this one’s a real work. You know it took me two kids to finally tie her down?”
Your date glances between you, Megumi, and Gojo, his eyes wide with pure panic, as if he’s just stumbled into something far beyond his comprehension. His grip tightens around his napkin, knuckles white. “I—I think I should go.”
You lurch forward, reaching out as if that might stop him. “No, wait—!”
But it’s already too late. He’s scrambling for his coat, chair scraping loudly against the floor as he pushes back from the table, nearly knocking over his drink in his rush. Without sparing you another glance, he spins on his heel and all but bolts toward the exit, shoulders hunched as if he’s trying to make himself smaller.
You sit frozen for a second, blinking at the now-empty seat across from you. Then, slowly, you turn toward the culprits, fists clenched at your sides.
“You two,” you hiss, voice low and simmering with fury, “are in serious trouble.”
Megumi has the decency to look guilty, staring down at his lap, shifting awkwardly in his seat as if he’s just now realizing the full extent of what they’ve done.
Gojo, on the other hand, is utterly shameless. He stands there in all his smug glory, adjusting his sunglasses with a satisfied smirk.
You grab your purse and storm out of the restaurant, with the two trailing behind you like two guilty kids.
“You know,” Gojo muses, “I think that went pretty well.”
You round on him so fast that even he takes a step back. “Pretty well?! You humiliated me! That poor guy thinks I have an entire secret family!”
Gojo snickers. “Well, technically, you do.”
You jab a finger into his chest. “You are not my husband.”
“But wouldn’t it be great if I was?” He wiggles his eyebrows.
Megumi lets out a long sigh. “Please don’t entertain him. I’m sorry, [Name].” His blue eyes are trained onto the floor, “I just didn’t think he was good enough for you.”
You exhale sharply, some of your anger ebbing as you glance between the two of them.
“It’s okay, Megumi,” you sigh, your frustration softening at the sight of his guilty expression. You could never stay mad at him, not with that face.
Gojo, however, was a different story.
Slowly, you turn to him, eyes narrowing. “You—”
He grins, entirely unrepentant. “Me?”
Oh, he was so in for it.
Although he had been shamelessly unapologetic at the time, Gojo still found ways to complain about that night, even years later, after you were finally married.
“It was an unusually cruel punishment,” your husband whines dramatically, draping his entire body weight onto you as if his sheer presence could sway your sympathy.
“You mean the silent treatment?” you deadpan, eyes still trained on Megumi practicing his cursed technique across the yard. “It was only a week. Could’ve been longer if you hadn’t harassed everyone around me until they practically begged me to forgive you.”
Gojo lifts his head just enough to shoot you an exaggerated pout. “I don’t harass people. I simply exist, and they just happen to find me irresistible.”
“You tend to have the exact opposite effect, actually.”
“Ten years later, and you’re still so cruel to me.” He sighs heavily, as if burdened by the weight of your terrible treatment, before shoving his face into the crook of your neck. “You wound me, wife.”
You laugh, warmth bubbling in your chest as his breath tickles your skin. “You’re impossible.”
A loud thud interrupts the moment, and you both glance over just in time to see Megumi scowling, his stance off from a misstep in his training.
“You are still disgusting after all of these years,” he grumbles, adjusting his form before going at it again.
Gojo beams. “Aww, he likes us.”
You shake your head, smiling. “He tolerates us.”
“Eh, same thing.” Gojo squeezes you tighter, pressing a loud, obnoxious kiss to your cheek just to be insufferable.
Megumi groans. “Seriously, get a room.”
Gojo smirks, wiggling his brows. “Don’t tempt me, kid.”

The midday sun hung high in the sky, casting golden rays over the manicured lawns of the country club. Y/N adjusted the tray in her hands, balancing a margarita and beer as she approached a familiar table near the patio. Mr. and Mrs. Harris, long-time members, sat comfortably, the older man flipping lazily through the club’s newsletter while his wife fixed the diamond bracelet on her wrist.
“There’s our favourite girl”
Mr. Harris greeted her with a knowing smile as Y/N set down their drinks, “Tell me, sweetheart, did you hear about the chaos at the Lewis’ fundraiser last weekend?”
“Oh, no way- what happened?”
Y/N forced a light chuckle, tucking the tray under her arm. Mr. Harris leaned in, delighted to have an audience to entertain their gossip, “Their youngest daughter got caught sneaking around with that auto repair boy. Can you imagine? In front of everyone…”
“That must have been quite the scene.”
Y/N bit back her smile from spreading too widely across her face. Rich people drama never failed to entertain. Mrs. Harris flashes her a warm smile, taking a sip of her margarita- the diamond bracelet around her wrist catching the light as she thanks the girl for her beverage. Y/N’s eyes catch on the jewelry, and before she can stop herself, she hums in appreciation.
“That’s gorgeous,” she says, nodding towards it.
“Is it new?”
The older woman practically beams, lifting her wrist to give Y/N a better look. “Oh, you noticed! Yes, it was a gift from Reggie,” she says, casting a pointed look at the older man in front of her, who merely chuckles and shakes his head. Y/N teases lightly, hand coming out to pat his arm,
“You spoil her, sir,”
“Only because she lets me”
Mr. Harris says with a wink, making his wife laugh as she waves him off playfully. As Y/N picked up their empty plates placing it on her tray, from the corner of her eye she watched as Mr. Harris pulled a crisp fifty from his wallet and tucked it onto her tray.
“For keeping us entertained.”
“You’re too kind Mr. Harris, enjoy your drinks!”
Y/N accepted it with practiced ease, flashing a grateful smile as she turned away. Making her way back toward the bar, she spotted Sofia behind it, stacking glasses. Y/N made her way over, letting out a sigh as she leaned against the counter.
“You’re their favorite,” Sofia comments, smirking as she nudges Y/N’s arm. “They practically light up when they see you.”
“Please, they just like that I actually listen to their gossip.”
Y/N snorts, leaning against the counter for a brief second before swiping a cool glass of water. Sofia hums, her tone teasing.
“That, and you’re a kiss-ass.”
Y/N gasps dramatically, placing a hand over her chest, “Excuse me, I provide an excellent guest experience? Some of us have to work for our tips, Miss ‘My Customer Just Slid Me a Twenty for Smiling at Him.’”
“What can I say? I have a very approachable face Y/N.”
Sofia grins, shrugging as she picks up her tray. Y/N rolls her eyes but laughs anyway, feeling a brief moment of normalcy in the otherwise long day. They’ve been working side by side for years now, Sofia being one of the only reasons Y/N hasn’t completely lost her mind at this job.
“So, what’s our bet for today?” Sofia asks, lowering her voice as they both glance around the club’s patio area. “Who’s going to cause a scene first? My money’s on Calloway- she’s already on her second mojito- and she asked for a double.”
Y/N bites her lip, pretending to consider it, “Tempting, but I think Jacobs is gonna start yelling at the golf caddies again.”
“Hmmm” Sofia considers before she smiles, “Loser buys dinner from the wreck after our shift?”
“Go on then”
Y/N grins, picking up her own tray just as a new table waves her over. As she walks away, she hears Sofia call out, “Hey, if the Harrington's try to marry you off to their nephew again, let me know- I wanna watch this time!”
“As if they’d mix their pure blood with a dirty Pogue.”
Y/N jokes as she glances over her shoulder with an amused smile. Sofia bursts out laughing, nearly spilling a drink off her tray. Y/N just shakes her head, biting back a smile as she heads to her next table.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two girls had slipped away from the chaos of the bar, taking refuge in the quieter space near the staff lockers at the back of the club. The noise from the restaurant faded, replaced by the hum of the kitchen and the occasional sound of clinking dishes. Sofia leaned casually against one of the lockers, a playful smile stretching across her face as she crossed her arms.
"So..." Sofia started, her voice light and teasing as she glanced at the girl, "tell me… who's got your attention these days?"
"Nothing to tell, Sof"
Y/N sighed, rolling her eyes with a small smile. Sofia raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying into her friend's deflection of the conversation. "Come on, there's gotta be someone. Or are you too busy with all the rich Kook’s checking you out at the club?" Y/N let out a dry laugh, her expression shifting to a bit of an eye roll.
"Please. They only like me when I'm serving them drinks, Sofia."
"Well, why not date one of them?" Sofia teased, her grin widening.
"I mean, might as well elevate the Pogue name, right?"
Y/N couldn’t help but snort at that. "Yeah, maybe you can do that first," she shot back, a teasing glint in her eyes. "I'm too busy trying to make money right now."
"Whatever. But you know you can talk to me, right?"
Her tone shifted, softening just a bit. There was a concern in her eyes that Y/N wasn’t used to seeing, a genuine care that made her hesitate. She’d known Sofia for ages- she was basically her best friend. Yet she could never bring herself to tell her about her problems as she knew the girl had burdens of her own. Y/N’s smile faltered for a moment, and she glanced down at the floor, fighting the subtle shift in her mood. After a beat of silence, she forced the smile back.
"Yeah- but I’m fine."
"You know you can’t lie to me, right?"
Sofia studied her carefully, then leaned in with a knowing look. Y/N chuckled, though it was light and forced. She shrugged, brushing it off with a quick wave of her hand.
"Don’t worry about it. Really."
Sofia lingered for a moment, looking at her, her smile soft and understanding, she didn’t push further though, sensing that the girl wasn’t ready to open up. The brief silence between them was interrupted by the sudden buzz of Y/N’s phone in her pocket. She pulled it out, glancing down at the screen. The name on the caller ID made her relax a little- JJ. Without thinking, she answered the call, her tone shifting instantly to something lighter.
"Hey, Jay. Everything okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, everything’s great!" JJ’s voice came through the phone, a familiar mixture of excitement and laughter in the background. "I just wanted to uh- check in. How’s the shift going?"
Y/N smiled softly as his voice flooded through the small speaker of her cracked up phone, "Same old, same old- serving drinks and pretending to care." JJ laughed, the sound of music and voices rising in the background.
"Sounds fun- uh anyways, I need a little favor." Y/N’s brows furrowed slightly, "What’s up?" There was a brief pause before Jay’s voice grew a little more pleading,
"Uh, I was wondering if I could borrow some money?"
Y/N’s stomach tightened at the request, but she was already too familiar with this routine. She groaned lightly, her hand coming up to rub her eye, and she couldn't tell if it was from irritation or from exhaustion.
"JJ..."
"Please Y/N, you know I’ll pay you back! I’m literally begging you on my knees right now- but you can't see cause well you're on the phone but uh- Hey Pope! Come take a picture of me man-"
Despite herself, Y/N’s lips curved into a small smile at his stupid behavior. She shook her head, the playful warmth in her expression impossible to hide as she rested her chin on her hand, arm being propped up on her knee as she sat on the small bench near the lockers.
"You’re not real."
"So, you’ll help me out?"
JJ asked, practically bouncing through the phone. Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn’t resist. "Fine. Go home, go into my room, and in the back of the cupboard under the bottom shelf, there’s a small jewelry box with flowers on it. Open it and you’ll find cash in there."
"YES- yes okay, I love you sis, you’re the best"
JJ’s voice immediately brightened and Y/n could hear a chorus of ‘thanks Y/N!’ being called out from around him, and she didn't need to think hard to guess who they were coming from. Y/N smiled softly, her heart lightning just a little.
"Yeah, yeah. Don’t blow it on something stupid, okay?"
"I promise- Thanks!"
He replied, and the line went dead with a click. Y/N sat there for a moment, staring at the phone in her hand. She could feel Sofia’s eyes on her, watching with that quiet understanding that only a real friend could have. After a moment, Y/N let out a breath, rolling her eyes as she tucked the phone back into her pocket and Sofia’s voice called out to her,
“He’s not paying you back.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N walked back toward the bar with Sofia, her fingers idly flipping onto the page of her writing pad. She lets out a breath as she approaches her next table, scribbling down the table number as she speaks, eyes still lowered. "Hi, I'm Y/N, I'll be your server—" Her tone drops as she finally looks up. "—tonight."
Jesus Christ.
Are you serious?
Sitting at the table, looking like they own the place, were Rafe, Topper, and Kelce. All three of them already smirking, like they’ve been waiting for this exact moment. She straightens her posture, pen tapping against the notepad.
"What can I get you guys?"
"I dunno," Topper hums, leaning back lazily in his chair, arm crossing and eyes darting down to the menu on the table.
"What do you recommend?"
"The menu is right in front of you Thornton"
She deadpans. She knows exactly what they’re like, thinking of the smallest things to make her life more difficult as if working a 12 hour shift wasn't enough. Kelce snickers, while Rafe just watches her, eyes practically burning into her.
"Mmm, yeah, but, like, what’s good here?" Topper presses, tapping the menu against the table like it’s a drum. Y/N clenches her jaw, her patience thinning by the second.
"Everything is fine."
"Fine? That’s not reassuring" Kelce says, shaking his head teasingly, "I think we need a little more detail Y/N."
"Are you actually going to order, or are you just gonna waste my time?"
She grits her teeth, looking at the three of them expectantly. Topper raises his brows, amused at her small outburst.
"Damn, someone's in a mood today- you on your period or what?"
"You’re making it worse," she mutters under her breath, flipping her notepad open again. Rafe finally leans forward, elbows on the table, drawing her attention whether she likes it or not. "I’ll take a burger," he drawls, "medium rare. No pickles, extra onions. And make sure the fries are crispy, not soggy." Kelce hums, “I’ll do the same” then he sits up slightly like he’s just remembered something, "Oh, yeah, and no tomatoes on mine. Actually- no, extra tomatoes. But, like, not too much. And ranch on the side." Topper drums his fingers against the table.
" I think I want the chicken or- nah, maybe the steak. Is the steak good today?"
Y/N stares at him blankly as the three of them ramble at her, her wrist hurting a little from scribing their over complicated orders down furiously down on the notepad.
"You think I cook the food?"
"Fine, fine. Chicken. But if it's dry, I’m sending it back."
Topper just grins as he shoves the menu in her direction. She exhales sharply through her nose, taking the menu that was seconds prior shoved into her face.
"Is that all?"
"How about a smile, hmm?"
Rafe tilts his head, eyes practically devouring the irritation on her face as he lifts his drink to his lips, his voice smooth, "not very welcoming are you." Her grip tightens on the menus in her hand. For a second, she debates telling him exactly where he can shove them- but she can't. Not here, not in uniform, not at her actual job. So instead, she forces out a tight, practiced smile, her teeth clenched behind it.
"Better?"
"Drop the attitude too"
Rafe smirks, tilting his glass towards her. Her smile drops immediately. She spins on her heel before she can stop herself from rolling her eyes, making her way back toward the bar to place their orders. She makes it back to the kitchen, her jaw tight as she punches in the obnoxiously complicated order. The machine beeps as she keys in the final modifications- extra ice in his lemonade, but not too much, a lime wedge, not a lemon, sauce on the side of Kelce’s plate but not in a separate dish. She exhales sharply, rolling her shoulders before spinning on her heel to head back to the floor. She’s barely a few steps out when she collides with someone. A clatter fills the air as metal cutlery spills across the floor, scattering in every direction.
"Oh my god, I’m so sorry!"
Y/N blurts out, slapping her hands over her face before immediately dropping to her knees, helping the dishwasher- who looks just as startled as her- to gather the mess. The entrance to the kitchen is already chaotic, the sound of orders being called, plates being stacked, and oil sizzling only adding to the overwhelming noise. Her cheeks burn, humiliated, as she hurriedly stacks the forks and knives back onto the tray. She doesn’t even have to look up to know she has an audience. From across the room, Rafe, Topper, and Kelce sit at their table, watching it all unfold. Rafe has a slow smirk stretched across his lips, a lazy amusement glinting in his eyes as he leans back in his seat. He’s eating this up- seeing her flustered, on her knees, scrambling to pick up silverware like it’s the most humiliating thing she could be doing.
“What a klutz”
He says as he watches, head tilting slightly, gaze locked on her flushed face as she hurries to her feet, murmuring another apology to the dishwasher before brushing her hands off on her apron.
Now balancing two plates in her hands, Y/N strides back to the table, keeping her expression neutral despite the irritation bubbling beneath the surface. She carefully places one dish in front of Rafe, the other in front of Topper, before Kelce leans back in his chair, arms crossed.
"Uh, where's mine?"
"I only have two hands"
Y/N says, voice tight. Rafe tsks, shaking his head, "Talking to him like that- reeeealll unprofessional."
Her eyes snap to his, burning with frustration, but she swallows down the urge to say something she’ll regret. Instead, she presses her lips into a thin line before spinning on her heel, marching back to the kitchen. She snatches Kelce’s plate from the counter with a little too much force, returning to the table and placing it in front of him. He doesn’t even bother to say thanks- typical.
“I need tomato sauce”
Topper pipes up, waving a fry lazily in the air. Y/N exhales sharply through her nose but nods. “Sure thing.” She turns back toward the kitchen retrieving the sauce, and places it in front of him. Topper barely acknowledges it before adding,
“Actually, I also need ranch.”
She forces a pleasant hum, her fingers gripping her notepad as she walks off again. She can feel their eyes on her back, the smug expressions radiating from the table. Grabbing the next bottle from the kitchen, she strides back out, setting it down a little harder than necessary.
“Oh, and mayo?”
Topper asks just as she’s about to leave. Her teeth sink into the inside of her cheek, forcing a neutral expression. She exhales slowly, then pastes on a saccharine smile.
“Will that be all, Topper?”
“Sure thing babe.”
He grins, winking at her. Y/N turns stiffly, heading back to the kitchen, but from the corner of her eye, she catches Rafe reaching under the table, slapping his hand against Topper’s with a smirk. They’re all laughing quietly, thoroughly enjoying their little game at her expense. Her blood simmers, but she forces herself to keep moving, keep smiling.
Just a few more hours.
Just a few more hours?
The night had already drained her, but the final straw came in the form of a screaming toddler at table five. His mother looked exhausted, his father seemed more interested in his phone than the mashed potatoes his son had just flung onto the floor, and Y/N had been the unlucky one stuck cleaning it up. She crouched down, scraping the mush off the floor while the mother muttered a halfhearted apology. Y/N only nodded, brushing it off, but by the time she was back on her feet, her patience had worn dangerously thin. Now, balancing a tray of drinks, she made her way toward another table when a sharp whistle cut through the air and her head snaps around.
Rafe.
Sitting there, completely at ease, his smirk carved deep into his face as he tapped at the expensive watch on his wrist, she clenched her jaw. God, she hated him. Still, she forced herself to finish up at the other table, dumping their drinks off quickly before she had no choice but to approach him.
"Are you done with your meals?"
She asked flatly, not bothering to sound sweet anymore. She was tired, her shift was almost over, and she just wanted to go home. She reached out, grabbing their plates, stacking them with ease as she muttered,
“I’ll get you the bill—”
“—No. We’d like some drinks actually.”
Rafe cut her off smoothly. Her grip tightened around the plates, but she forced her lips into something resembling a smile. “Sure, what can I get you?” She flicked open her notepad, pen poised, waiting.
“A beer.”
Rafe said easily, his eyes dancing with amusement. Kelce and Topper rattled off their orders- both opting for a whiskey. She jotted it all down, lips pressed into a tight line She returned a few minutes later, balancing the drinks on a tray as she weaved through tables. Her feet ached, her patience had now become nonexistent. Sure enough, the moment she set Kelce’s whiskey down, he scoffed.
“What, did you brew his beer yourself? Took you long enough.”
Y/N said nothing, pressing her lips together as she continued placing the rest of the drinks down. Topper leaned back in his seat, shaking his head.
“Are you gonna apologize for our inconvenience?”
Her eye twitched, but she plastered on the fakest, most saccharine smile she could muster. “I’m so sorry for your inconvenience,” she said, voice dripping with sarcasm. “It won’t happen again.” Rafe only hummed, reaching for his beer, but before he could even take a sip, his face twisted in displeasure, eyes focused on the pint glass in front of him.
“What is this?”
She blinked, “Your beer?”
“Yeah, who the fuck poured this?”
He lifted the glass, examining it like it personally offended him. The foam had settled at the top, maybe a little too much, but it was nothing dramatic. Y/N fought back the urge to roll her eyes- she very clearly isn't the bartender.
“I don’t pour the drinks—”
“I don’t give a fuck,” he cut her off.
“Go get me another one.”
Her nails dug into the palm of her hand as she turned on her heel, biting her tongue to stop herself from snapping at him. She took the beer back to the bar, inhaling deeply as she watched the bartender pour a fresh one, and by the time she made it back to the table, she was barely holding it together. She placed the new beer in front of him, her fingers itching to just throw it at him, but she forced herself to keep it together. Rafe lifted it to his lips, took a sip, then frowned.
“This shit is warm. Are you serious?”
“I just told you, I’m a waitress, I don’t pour your drin—”
“Cut the fucking attitude, alright?”
Her jaw clenched so tight it hurt. She could feel her manager watching from the bar, could see him keeping an eye on the interaction, and she knew if she said anything back, she’d be the one in trouble, because everyone who worked at the club knew that - the customer is always right.
“Get me another,” Rafe said, tilting his head, eyes locked on hers, that same cocky smirk playing on his lips.
“And don’t make me send you back again.”
She reached for the glass, barely restraining herself from throwing it at his head. Rafe leaned back in his chair, eyes still on her.
“Or are you too dumb to do that?”
Kelce and Topper sniggered beside him. Y/N forced her lips into a fake smile letting out a small hum at his words, grabbing the beer and spinning on her heel.
She was going to lose her fucking mind.
When she came back, her jaw locked so tightly it ached, she was surprised her teeth hadn't fallen out yet. She didn’t even bother to mask the anger burning in her eyes as she slammed the beer down onto the table, the liquid sloshing over the rim and splashing onto Rafe’s lap. His head snapped up, his jaw clenching, eyes darkening with irritation.
“Oops”
She said, voice laced with mock innocence. Rafe pushed back from the table, his chair scraping against the floor as he shot up. Before she could step away, his hand snapped around her wrist, yanking her closer.
“What the fuck are you playing at huh Maybank?”
His grip was firm, fingers digging into her skin just enough to make it ache. She could sense the two other boys gazing at them amused, speaking in hushed murmurs. Y/N yanked at her arm, glaring up at him but his grip around her didn't loosen.
“Maybe if you weren’t such a fucking dick—”
He scoffed, his breath fanning against her face as he leaned in slightly, grip tightening. She refused to flinch, refused to give him the satisfaction, even though her pulse was hammering harshly in her ears. Then, his voice dropped, lowering into something only she could hear.
“I think you’re forgetting what I know hmm... bunny?”
She froze as the word passed his lips, eyes flickering over his face. Rafe’s lips curled into a smirk, his thumb pressing against her wrist.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” he murmured, “So stop being such a little bitch and—”
“Is everything okay here?”
Her manager’s voice cut through the tension like a knife, and Rafe immediately let go, his expression shifting in an instant as he turned to face them. “Oh yeah, man,” he said, all faux innocence. “Just had a little spill, didn’t we?” Y/N was still stiff, her wrist burning where he’d grabbed her, but she forced herself to clear her throat, nodding quickly.
“Yeah- um, yes. I was just going to get some tissues.”
Her manager gave her a lingering look, as if trying to assess the situation, but eventually just nodded before walking off. Rafe sat back down, picking up his beer as if nothing had happened. Y/N exhaled sharply before stalking off to grab some napkins. When she returned, she slapped them onto the table, using one to wipe up the spill on the surface.
“Clean it up, Maybank.”
“What do you think I’m doing, Cameron?”
Rafe grinned at her evident distress, leaning back in his chair as he watched her. Then, with a casual flick of his wrist, he snapped his fingers in front of her face a few times and pointed down at his lap, where the beer had splashed onto his trousers.
“I said, clean it up.”
Y/N let out a sharp scoff, eyes narrowing at him in pure disgust. Rafe only smirked, leaning back leisurely in his seat. He lifted his hand, fingers tapping against the side of the cold beer glass, which now had a small ring of condensation pooling around it.
“You want me to call your manager hmm?”
She could feel the heat of Topper and Kelce’s stares, the way they were barely holding back their laughter, waiting to see what she’d do. Her fingers curled around the napkin in her hand, nearly tearing it in frustration. But she contemplated her next move- she realised she didn’t have much of a choice.
Not with the leverage he had over her.
Biting the inside of her cheek so hard she tasted copper, she forced herself to move forward, lowering herself slightly as she brought the napkin to his lap, pressing it against his upper thigh. The fabric was damp beneath her fingertips soaking into the tissue, and she felt the way his leg tensed slightly beneath her touch. Rafe didn’t shift away though- no, he only watched her, his lips curled in satisfaction as she dabbed at the wet patch on his trousers.
She hated him.
Hated the way he was enjoying this. Hated the way her skin prickled with embarrassment, the heat of his gaze locked onto her every movement. Then, just as she started to move her hand up slightly to cover the rest of the spill, his voice dropped into something condescendingly smooth.
“Wrong job, princess.”
Her head snapped up, and for a moment, she just stared at him, her expression twisted with nothing but pure, seething hatred and Rafe just smirked, tilting his head at her like he was daring her to really react.
“Go get me my bill”
Y/N clenched her fists so tightly she swore her nails would break skin. But she didn’t argue. Didn’t snap back. Because she couldn’t afford to. Because if she stepped out of bounds one more time, she didn't want to know what he’d do with the ‘information’ he had. Without another word, she turned on her heel toward the bar to retrieve the check, her hands trembling with the effort of restraining herself. Then she came back with the bill, placing it down on the table without a word. She didn’t wait around for them to check it, didn’t even spare Rafe another glance as she turned and made her way straight back to the bar. Sofia was already there, leaning against the counter, watching her approach. As soon as Y/N let out a long breath and dropped her head into her hands, fingers pressing against her temples, Sofia raised an eyebrow.
“What’s Rafe got against you?”
She asked, voice light but laced with curiosity. Y/N just exhaled, shaking her head slightly as she mumbled,
“I don’t know.”
Sofia clicked her tongue, watching Rafe over the girls shoulder, “He’s an privileged Kook living off of his daddy’s money. Don’t let him get to you, Y/N.”
Y/N only hummed in response, too drained to say anything else. Instead, she watched as Rafe got up, tilting his head back as he downed the rest of his beer in one go. Topper and Kelce were already heading toward the door, pushing past a couple of other customers on their way out, but Rafe lingered for just a second longer.
And then he turned with that look.
The one that sent a slow, crawling chill up her spine. His eyes locked on hers, dark and unreadable, amusement still tugging at the corner of his lips, like he knew something she didn’t. Like he enjoyed getting under her skin. Y/N didn’t waver. Didn’t blink. Just stared back at him, her expression twisted with nothing but pure hatred.
Rafe smirked.
Then, without another word, he turned and walked out after his friends. She let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding, rolling her shoulders slightly as she straightened up. A minute passed before she finally made her way back over to their empty table. It was a mess- napkins shifted across the table, now empty glasses with rings of condensation staining the wood. And in the middle of it, the small, folded wallet that held their payment. Y/N reached for it, flipping it open, eyes scanning over the receipt. Her lips parted slightly,
The total: $150.
She glanced at the stack of bills tucked inside- multiple fifties, covering the full price of the meal. And then, nestled between them, a single one-dollar bill. Her eyes narrowed slightly, a pit of frustration already bubbling in her stomach, but when she shifted her gaze lower, she saw the note. Written in the same blue ink as the receipt, scrawled in lazy, careless handwriting:
Drop the attitude, Bunny.
And at the bottom of the final receipt, where the tip amount had been written in: Y/N stared at it for a long moment, jaw clenching, the paper crinkling slightly between her fingers as she tightened her grip.
$1.00.
Fucking asshole.

You liked driving at night.
There was simply something about the eerie silence, the shadows casting upon the streets, barely touched by the headlights and the moon, the quiet hum of the radio and the slow shift of your hands on the wheel.
You liked driving at night, but today, it feels off.
Just this morning, you had looked at your house one last time. It still had that white paint on the porch, that had faded due to the sunlight, and those scrapped stickers on what had been your childhood room's door.
He had tried talking some sense in to you, claiming all your life was there, in Arizona. With him. But Phoenix had started to feel like a prison and he was your warden. So you snuck at dawn when no one would notice, like a criminal. Very fitting.
The sun hadn't touched yet the kitchen where you ate when your feet balanced off the chair and now graced the floor in a lazy manner, eating cereal with marshmallows first and now, just about three days ago, just oatmeal, because it seemed like what a grown up would do.
But in many ways you were still the same kid who was too shy to raise her hand in class because she couldn't find her voice, bound to be forgotten among much louder and brigther kids. Yet he had seen you.
So you stayed: put up with dances where he would spin you until the world was reduced to a blur, and the quiet home life in town-- kids running around and barbecues on the summer seemed like a good ending. You dreamed of a truck and a garden, and the few friends you made all seemed to share the same vision. Except for one.
When Dorothea came back from New York, eyes too wide and smile too bright, she seemed like a different person. In many ways she still was the same girl with an accent who had shared her sandwhich with you during recess, but her words now carried ambition and her gaze seemed awoken by a purpose you couldn't find but on the road that drove out of town.
But folks kept her at arms length. The amusement in her smile was infectious as a disease, and with whispered stabs they would talk behind her back. Your friend bore a scarlett letter for wanting more.
You had never wanted more; compliant might of be your second name. But when you'd see her walk by your house, shorts above her knees and that city girl strut with her sneakers against the hot asphalt, you were envious, and Williams seemed so small and dull.
Who does she think she is? he would say, and you'd nod your head, despite the secret admiration hidden in your eyes.
Suddenly, the red truck sounded stupid and the married life with kids could wait.
We could wait, you had said outloud.
He had laughed, like you just told a joke. It was on surprise, but it felt cruel.
Why? like he couldn't understand you-- as if you spoke on a different language. What is there to wait for?
You took your decision that day.
It started slow, by wearing skirts that rode up with the wind, blaming the lack of clothes on the heat. Then with the nicotine between your lips, the forbidden act making clouds that escaped your red lips. Or wearing the other make up Dorothea taught you, now holding hands with her as people whispered she had tainted your naive soul too. He caught your new smell, and spoke harshly about not wearing clothes that made other men turn to eat out the sun-kissed skin of your legs, because you'd turn too, gaze defiant and full of mischief, but that he didn't know. Might as well wear nothin'. But he cried with his face buried in the same uncovered legs, saying he hated to see you like this; he didn't recognize you.
It was easy then.
One day you packed your bags and took the car you'd been given as a graduation gift, leaving town with what seemed a lifetime stashed in the backseat.
You left a note for your parents, neatly placed on a bed you wondered when you'd sleep again in, if you were ever to be back. To him, who you now just start to wonder if you ever really loved or just accepted because it's what there was and nothing more, you hadn't left a note nor explanations.
He wouldn't understand anyways.
Just the promise of what could've been, shining in the middle of your bed.
You had been driving non-stop, afraid like a fugitive who was being chasen. Sometimes, you'd take stops on the road and pulled out a pen and a book, despite your fingers itching from driving and your urgency to check the phone you'd been to coward to turn on to see the wake of messages your disappearance might have sparked.
There was a sting somewhere outside the ache of your bones or the flutter of your tired eyes, and it cried for home and longed for the life you always envisioned for yourself. But it also felt like a second skin you couldn't quite wash off with the cheap soap and cold water of the motel you had crashed in a couple of hours ago.
You didn't want to live in suburban desert dreams back at Williams. You wanted to feel alive.
It's nightime when the little peep sound jolts you awake. You had been driving in auto-pilot; your car needs gas and you needed rest.
Its probably ten at night, and according to your map, Utah isn't that far. It's a fresh start: a place where no one knows your name or your whole life, for the matter.
Your car comes to a stop under faded neon lights in the middle of the road. There's a truck parked next to your car, the guy inside the convenience store, and that's about it. You're filling your tank while suppressing a yawn, when a movement across your station catches your eyes.
The only other customer, a man old enough to be your dad. He's staring at you, leaning against his truck, arms crossed while the biceps flex with the position, tense. Even from your place, you can see how the veins pop here and there, making you gulp on instinct.
The smoke of his cigarrette gets lost in the neon hues and starry sky. Doesn't he know you're not supposed to do that at a gas station? Yet, his lack of care and recklessness picks your interest.
(Hey! The last time you had human contact was about a day ago and after seeing only roads, asphalt, desert and mountains, you deserved a little treat to entertain yourself)
"Like what you see, doll?" sporting the most sleazy smile you'd ever seen.
Something about him was as alluring as uneasy, the nervous tremble of your hands but the warmth between your legs speaking of said conflicting emotions. You pretend to be invested on the task of filling your truck (the reason you're here, after all) but the way your body burns, begs, to look again is humilliating. So you do, but he isn't there anymore, althought his truck is.
"You know, wearin' a dress like that at night isn't a good idea for'a girl like you"
He appears from seemingly nowhere, making you jump. Your heart flutters and you clench at nothing with the sound of his deep voice, low, akin to a rumble or a thunder. It's laced with diversion, and the not so subtle way he eats you out with his eyes like a starved man, wolfish grin on display as he leans now against your car, makes his intentions all the more clear.
"Why?" you feel oddly bold, instead of scared. Maybe it's the lack of sleep, because why the hell would you be flirting in a gas station, at night, entertaining an old and slighlty creepy albeit attractive man when you had been engaged less than a day ago?
"The weather" he appears nonchalant, balancing the cigarrette like a toothpick between his chapped lips. "Or men"
"Bold of you to say that while wearing that" you poke fun at his outfit, which consists of some shorts, worn t-shirt and a vest. He's sporting the tall socks and slippers combo, dressing like a grandpa but he pulls it off alright. "Also, men? Like who, you?"
He laughs, the sound sprouting rich and grave from his chest. It makes you dizzy. Yup, let's blame the lack of sleep again.
"Well, look at that. Sure got'a mouth on ya', doll" he gets closer, and his scent floods your nostrils. Wood, gasoline, musk, sweat and burnt ciggars. "Just takin' care of you. Say, how about ya' warm that shaky frame of yers? This place has sum coffee goin' on. Shit, but it works"
He could poison your drink for all you care, but all his teeth are on display and he's got a dimple. Also, you're fighting your fluttering eyelids in here.
"Y/n" it's your way of agreeing while extending your hand.
Instead of shaking it, he pulls you even closer and kisses it, his warm lips brushing your cold hand. You shiver at the contact, and it may be the way his firey auburn holds your gaze while doing so or how big his hands feel, both your mind and heart racing.
"Joel" he says, and then that same calloused palm finds its way to the soft part above your ass in your back, guiding you to the store.
Inside, it smells like cheap coffee and grease. You clutch your bag tighter, and choose a table as the stranger pays for your coffee, or well, Joel.
"There ya' go" and he places the hot brown liquid in front of you.
Now that he's closer and under the yellow-ish lights, you take a better look at his face. His eyes, which mock the drink in front of you. His hands, that seem to almost swallow the small cup with their size, and then his hair. God, alright. He sported a fucking mullet of all haircuts. And boy, wasn't it embarrassingly attractive? Your eyes fall towards his beard and mustache, grays sprinkled across them. But your mind and eyes alike went back to the thought of feeling the slightly greasy looking hazel strands, calling for your touch.
"Gonna take a sip or what?" and he smiles. You don't know if it's in diversion by your doze-off or because he knows why.
You had never felt this hot and bothered. Hell, not even normal hot. He had never made you feel like this, and now some fucking random skanky man was getting your panties on a twist in the middle of the road.
"I-I'm going to the bathroom" you manage to squeak out, running for your life.
Inside the stall, you splash some water into your face, as if trying to make you react. Get yourself together, you tell your reflection in the mirror, but then you're fixing your hair, and as you reach for your red lipstick you realize you left your bag back at the table. Fuck.
You get out, only to find your bag weirdly sprawled on the seat, the handles centimeters away from falling to the floor. Then, he, who you only see his sturdy back and broad shoulders, crouched down, like he's reading something, althought Joel doesn't seem the type of guy who chooses to read in his free time.
"Joel?"
And then you see it: the tiny notebook you had been scribbling on the road, looking even smaller on his grip.
Your To-do list.
It may sound stupid, but a week before leaving, you bought it: the last memory of your town and the start of your new life. At twenty-five, the concept may sound a little stupid with what you've written, but you felt your new life deserved to have space for some of those dreams or fleeting thoughts you had during class written down.
And now fucking Joel was reading it.
"Wow, doll. Ya' sure are full of surprises" he chuckles, flipping through the pages. What sounds better: killing him or yourself? Hmm, maybe throwing the burning coffee at him would suffice.
"Give me that back" you extend your rigid hand, voice clipped.
The stupid trail of decisions catches up to you. Why had you trusted a stranger that had oggled you right in front of your face? You're too starved and horny to think straight, clearly, because now he's mocking you while your face burns with red shame.
"Saved your bag from fallin' when ya' rushed outta da seat. Then this lil' thing came out" he stops on a page. "Skinny dipping. And'ere I thought you're a good girl"
"Shut up and give me that" you seethe.
"Wow, doll" Joel chuckles yet again. "don't get yer panties in a twist. If ya' wanted so, jus' ask"
You scoff at his boldness. "Excuse me?"
"Ya' heard me" he gets up from his seat, body towering over yours.
Was it hot in here? Why was your body warm all of the sudden? Was it the coffee? No, you hadn't even take a sip. Joel searches before looking at you again with a content gaze and an ugly smug grin, like he's used to having his way.
"Sex with a stranger" then searches for other, the sound of the pages the only other sound in the room, still not overpowering the one of your heart, echoing in your ears. "Sex in a bathroom"
He closes the little book and hands it back to you. You take it with force, ears burning at their tip. "So?"
"Funny" he muses. "I can help you with both"
Your head drops back against the cold wall as Joel's lips find your collarbone.
This was stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Of all the decisions you've made in your life, this one is either the worst or the best. Fuck, you hadn't even arrived at Utah and could cross two things from the book.
His kiss is rushed, rough and sloppy, sucking on your lips so hard you feel them swollen and bruised. Joel's tongue then pokes inside your mouth, to taste your insides and all of you more deeply, content with the savor of your sweet mouth and gloss smeared across his own. It isn't often that he gets a chance like this: sure, casual sex is like breathing for him at this point in life, where he's made it too far without building a home for a wife. But now, here? You, this pretty young thing, the small whimpers coming out of your lips, how you squirm under his frame and groping hands that travel through a body he can't get enough of. Shit, he ain't young anymore but he's painfully hard and can't stop his task despite his aching joints and age. Joel just wants to taste all of you forever, despite the shit place and rather funny circumstances:
You both, strangers, in an dirty dark alley behind a gas station, about to fuck.
He's pressing his knee tightly between your thighs, the same one you had spotted before thanks to his shorts. His strong grip pins your hand above your head, rendering you immobile under his weight, that presses over you. Shit, you should be thinking this through and running away, but the complete submission and reckless choice makes it all the more hot.
Your throat works up soft, needy noises and Joel marvels at the sounds.
"Keep 'em comin', doll. Wanna know I'm makin' you feel good"
His lips leave lazy wet trails across your skin. The skirt of your dress is raised by his leg and pressed knee.
"Hmh, Joel-" you needily whimper.
"Shh" he swallows a moan with his mouth, "but jus' for me, doll. Keep it low, will ya'? Or want the whole place knowin' what a dirty slut ya' are? Fuckin' with da first stranger that looks yer way?"
You had never been degraded, less thought it would turn you this much on.
"Joel" you whimper his name.
He groans into your mouth, lewd tongues tangling and tasting the messy kiss with fiery passion and hate. Your fingers fist into the thick material of his vest, nails about to ruin it, but by the way his eyes darken and he smiles, Joel might be into it.
The man pulls away for breath, a string of saliva connecting you two.
His hand gropes your ass and then moves to your exposed inner thigh.
"What'a dirty girl" your fingers hook into his worn-out jeans, tugging the peaking waistband forward to you. His weight and chest push into you, "so wet and eager for this dick, you cockhungry whore"
To prove his point, his thick fingers rub your clit through the material of your panties. You tilt your head back in pleasure at the newfound sensation, and he takes the chance to mark your exposed neck and collarbone, making you moan his name when he sinks his teeth on the skin.
"All 'tis for me?" and his fingers fingers slink down to trace your folds again. Your back arches, breasts pressing against his chest. You dig your nails on his broad back, making him hiss with pleasure as you grab for support.
His rough digits slide and push your sticky panties aside, then plunge inside your pussy. You whimper quietly, the squelches of your pussy swallowing his fingers the only sound in the dark, aside from the busy road ahead. The calloused pad of his thumb circles your sensitive nub, pressing and massaging as his lips travel down to the valley of your tits.
"Wanna free this bad girls and taste 'em" he pulls down your dress, mouth practically watering at the rosy soft skin. "Fuck, doll. No bra? Ya' were lookin' for this, ain't you? Makin' the job easy. I'm just'a lucky man"
He wants to see how they bounce with each thrust, eyes darkening with the shade of lust.
"I- Fuck"
Joel's fingers thrust in and out at with a rapid pace and delicious movements you had never been pleasured before with. Now, when he curls them? That nearly sends you over the edge, reaching a spot you had never known existed.
"S'tight" he groans at your clenching warm sticky walls, fingers slowing but still moving as you ride out your high, drenching him in your liquids.
"Found sum sugar for that shit tastin' bitter coffee, eh?" he takes his own fingers on his mouth and sucks on them with a rather obscene gesture, taking them out with a loud pop. His tongue licks what's left off, and you whimper at the lewd image. "Yer too sweet, doll. Can't get 'nough"
Your arms wrap around him, as Joel rolls his hips, seeking friction to relieve him of the uncomfortable strain against the denim.
"Ready to take me in, doll? I'll just warn ya' somethin'" his free hand unbuckles his belt and tugs down the jeans and boxers down, dick in display: hard, and leaking with precum. He drags his teeth against your ear, and his hot breath ghosts over you with coffee and ciggars. "See that? Think ya' can take it?"
The tuft of sweaty hair leading down to his length has you salivating, and your fingers wrap around him before you realize it. Joel winces at the touch.
"Like a champ" and you swear his erection throbs in your palm, head angry and needy.
What a gentleman.
He doesn't wait for more words, teasing your moist folds with his tip before he's inside, buried to the hilt, rough fingers steady bruising your hips as he thrusts you up against the wall. You look up at the flickering lampost, wondering how did you ever made it here and what the hell are you doing, his groans deep inside your ear as his head is buried in the crook of your neck, labored breaths against your ablazed skin. For a moment, he looses the spot and favors looking at you, to take in the sight infront of him: mouth slightly gaped open, eyes lidded, and fingers desperately digging into his back. You're fucked out of your mind, but so is he.
"Like what you see?" you mimick his words from earlier. He lets out a dry and labored chuckle.
"I do"
He snaps his hips, and you're not sure what is it that creaks, too many things happening outside (the cars, the whiff of gasoline, the nocturnal wind). Joel soon takes up an erratic pace. He's so deep in you, his balls slams into your pussy with each thrust he forces into you.
You should start writing more things on that notebook if they would become true and as good as this. Earn a ridiculous sum of money for free, for example.
Joel grunts, hands busy holding you against the wall, but he so badly wants to play with your bouncy tits, so you let out a yelp when his wet tongue rolls over the skin, mouth then sucking the skin until it's bruised, kissing lazily around your hardened nipples until teeth bite on them.
He's going insane; should go more often late night driving if he'd end up fucking pretty naive sweet-tasting girls behind alleys.
His cock fills you so perfectly it doesn't take long before your walls are spasming around his cock, and you're about to cum for a second time, before on his fingers now over his girth inside of you. Joel can sense it, so his filthy mouth goes for it:
"Go on, doll. Show me what yer made of"
You fall apart with a sharp cry, face buried into his shoulder with a bite to muffle it.
He groans as the pleasure rolls through you. "Milk me dry, c'mon. Take all of ma' seed like the slut ya're" Joel speaks while moving inside you, deeper and quicker, aching for release. Then he's pulsing, cumming with a harsh grunt. "Don't waste a drop, doll. I know you're considerate jus' like that"
His hands slide down to your waist, his long hair drenched, sticking to his forehead. There's the silence of the night and your breaths as you try to compose yourselves.
"That's a good girl" while softnening cock still inside you.
"See? Told you: took you like a champ" you pant, trying not to think of what lead you to now, just focused on the high. "I like to keep my promises"
Joel laughs, but its a soft sound; light. It caresses your chest like a wind chime.
He then pulls out, your folds a mess and his dick coated with your juices. "Shit, look at ya' hungry pussy, doll. Wore me the fuck out"
You help him pull up his pants, looking at the socks while you contain a laugh. Then you think again and the alley pulls you out of your post sex haze. Yeah, filling those two checkboxes in your To-do list will feel good as fuck, but:
Now what?
"Joel?"
"Hmh?"
He pulls up your dress to cover your tits when the wind brushes through the alley, with a weird softness to him, then fixes your panties, giving your clothed pussy a weak slap that sends a shiver through your body.
"Thanks for the treat. I'ont remember orderin' desert"
You laugh as you push him off your body, refusing to meet his eyes. This is the second man who has seen you naked, and while definitely not good at words, his wolf-like hunger in his brown eyes and needy mouth besides the hard dick have said more than enough. Besides, it's a little late to be embarrased but you're still trying to process this wild huge leap you took to celebrate the start of your new life.
"Drive safe" you mutter, starting to walk away, thinking how the hell you'll survive the two hours left in the orad with such a sticky pair of panties and sweaty body.
"Where you goin'?" his deep voice stops you before you've reached the end of the alley.
"Utah" you answer in a beat, heart beating dangerously fast.
The same sleazy smile from the first time you saw him adorns his handsome face, all teeth in display.
"Really, doll? Well, lucky you" he lights up a cigarrette, trail of smoke condensing in anticipation. "'Cause that's jus'bout where I'm headed"

How Three Became One
Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader
Part 1 || Part 3 Summary: In the aftermath of your failed make-up anniversary dinner, the third person in the relationship reaches out to you Trope: Angst w.c: 1.6k a/n: There is JJ slander in this (doing it for the plot and to hurt you all, like how I hurt myself in writing this.) I’m mostly writing follow ups now of my one shots and this is part of a part three series, i swear once i get all these follow ups done I’m going to hibernate for a bit to focus on my crime series. Not proofread. Comments and reblogs are highly appreciated! 💗 masterlist

The somber air inside the coffee shop threatens to stifle your already critical heart. Its’ clear window clouded from the cold. Dull shades of gray creeping from every corner of the room, draining life as it went, no matter the strain of each lighted lamp on the tables.
Your fingers pulled the sleeves lower, wanting to cover any sliver of skin, trying to fight off the chill, as if it doesn’t come from within. Why did you agree to this, you wondered for the nth time, what good would confronting your nemesis, the root of the problem—Spencer’s Achilles heel, bring?
Comfort?
Not at all.
The truth?
Maybe.
Closure?
Closure from what exactly?
The failed relationship still stuck in limbo, dreadfully waiting for its free fall or flight from the precipice it’s balancing on?
Spencer had given you space, an act you weren’t sure to be grateful for. Yes, it spoke about his gentleman sensibilities and respect to not hound you to talk but on the other hand, his presence in reminding you how much he cared was sorely missed. Couldn’t he have at least left you one voicemail, voice pleading and coated with sadness, to repeat over and over again? Or a singular flower tucked to your doorstep, wilting slowly each day for your eyes to lay on?
You wanted nothing but you wanted something.
It was a conundrum.
Late into the night, when the phone rang and when your steps hastened against the wooden floor, you almost wished it was him. Eyes unfocused, the name unregistered, you surely wished it was him, instead of Her.
Her voice, blended with a slight static, was hesitant and soft as if she had encountered a wounded animal in need of her saving, tore through the paper-thin shield you’ve built around your bleeding, bruised heart.
You wanted to lash out, to be quiet, and to agree to anything she asked for—anything to end the call immediately, but when she suggested to meet in this quaint hidden coffee shop, describing it’s freshly brewed coffee and tasteful pastries, a sob rose and lodged itself in your throat.
It was your spot.
A secret place in your neighborhood you discovered and happily shared with Spencer.
This once vibrant store, the backdrop of so many rose-tinted memories, turned ordinary—tainted with the truth that it was no longer just yours and his. It was also Hers.
“Hi,” JJ softly greeted, occupying the seat in front of you. “Thank you for seeing me.”
Clearing your throat, the shred of what little courage you mustered leaving your body. “Yeah, uh, hi.”
Her blue eyes documented the lemon ginger tea in front of you, cooled and untouched. “I haven’t seen you in a while, how are you?”
“Fine, been doing good,” the darkness under your dull eyes painted a different picture, something that registered as her feminine shoulders drooped.
Lips pressed tightly together, she shifted in her leather worn bench, allowing the silence to further the divide between you both—the two female protagonists featured in Spencer Reid’s story.
“You don’t have to lie—”
“Right. A profiler, as if I could ever forget.”
“—Spence also isn’t doing well—”
You flinched, the sound of his name uttered out loud feeling like a thousand pounds dropping on your chest.
“—and just know that I’m here for the both of you, to clear up any misunderstandings. Let me help, ask me anything.”
“Yeah, yeah. That’s why we’re here after all.”
Your eyes examined how her golden hair fell perfectly around her, creating a halo of perfection you have never felt once before. You were always the kid who worked hard to seem put together—a stack of paper stick achievements built to hide how ordinary you turned out to be. A woman made of dismantled almosts.
“Can you tell me—” clearing your throat “—about you and him. Anything, as team members, friends, your first date—just anything I need to know. He’d always quickly summarize the context of you as his best friend, defender, confidant. Never letting anything beyond that.”
She nodded with a slight smile on her lips. “He’s always been a little brother. I, like everyone else in the team, wanted to protect and guide him. Joining the BAU at such a young age and enduring hardships that come with it—the kidnapping, the Dilaudid, his parent’s involvement in a cold case, losing Maeve, and prison—is too much for anybody to bear all on their own. We’ve always been close, being exposed to the darkness that comes with our job will do that for you but I’ve never seen him like that with you. He was so light and happy, almost as if the younger version of Spence came back to life—” she laughed before the brightness wiped away from her face. “—and now, like this with you, he looks afraid, like he might lose it all, lose you. I’ve seen him sad when we weren’t able to save Maeve but this time, this sadness that comes from the thought of you leaving, seems too deep to come out from. I’m afraid that he won’t make it and for that, I feel responsible.”
The deep red nail polish on your fingers were leaving chipped specks all over the white table, like blood on a pure white snow. The cage around your devotion and love threatens to topple down, releasing you from indecision. It seemed unfair to persecute a man of Spencer’s caliber for his past and for your fear of never being enough.
A shadow of a smile peeked from behind your curtain of self-preservation. Maybe all could be salvaged with a deep talk between one another and a schedule to a therapist—solo and couple. You loved him strongly enough to tackle those doubts and reverently wish to see the relationship through, forever if time allowed it to.
But the small voice in the back of your head echoed above the chimes of change and courage, it’s deep tone trying to pull you back to stagnancy and reality. What did she mean by that? Why would she feel that way?
“Responsible?” you whispered, heart beating loudly against your chest. Its’ sound parroting on your ear. “Why would you feel responsible?”
“During the last case, being held at gun point—” the bewilderment in your eyes causing her to gasp. “—he never told you, did he?”
The anticipation, anger, and dread enveloped you, as if you were about to combust at the drop off a hat. If you looked down to any piece of you, you’d think you were doused with gasoline and a small flicker of fire started at the tips of your shoes. “Tell me what? JJ, tell me what?”
She took a deep breath, trying to delay the inevitable truth. “During that time, the unsub wanted us to admit, confess a secret no one knew and wanted nobody to know and I—”
You raised your hands, trembling from realization, to unsuccessfully block the truth from spilling into the world. You didn’t want to hear it—needed to never hear it. “Stop. Please, stop.”
Droplets of sadness mixed with the specs of chipped nail polish on the table, your tears creating tracks on your ashen cheeks. This was enough to break you—the shaky mirage of your strong self was nowhere to be found as sobs freely escaped from the depths of your ribs.
You came here, filled with indecision which turned into hope before rapidly decaying to death.
The final nail in the coffin.
“You’re married, JJ. You have kids, how could—” you pressed your fingers tightly to your lips, nails digging into the soft flesh. “—I guess I always knew, huh. I may not be a profiler but my woman intuition has never steered me wrong. Not even once.”
She hung her head, the locks of halo you once considered pure and perfect shrouded around her like a thick veil of shame.
“So what now? What about Will and I? Does he even know?”
Her watery blue eyes, pleading with yours. “No, nothing changes. I love Will and my kids and it’s just a secret I want to take to my grave.”
A vicious hollow laugh bled out of you. “Are you even inlove with him? Your husband?”
The lack of response was very telling. Her love for her chosen partner was shallow compared to the other. You briefly wondered if there was no kids in the picture, would she have even stayed?
The thought was dashed repeatedly in your head. It wasn’t your problem to speculate. Mind made up, you refuse to be part of this convoluted love story any longer.
“That’s cruel of you. I wouldn’t even wish that on my worst enemy,” you slowly gathered your things and any strength that could take you home. The only place you’d allow yourself to unravel. “I think, I should go.”
“But—”
You mustered a small smile. “Thank you for being honest, JJ. I wish you the best with all of this. Tell Spencer, I’m sorry and please take care of him for me, will you?”
Quickly turning away from the mess that shredded your love life into bits no longer salvageable, the dull shades of gray once crawling from every corner of the store followed your trail.
Another dismantled almost to add to your ever growing collection.
The colorful world you and Spencer built with the thought of forever turned to ash.
Burnt from the truth.
The remains charred to multitudes of gray that signified the end.

This is part one of a 12-part series dedicated to helping you glow up using the wisdom of astrology. Each post will explore a different astrological house and its role in your journey of transformation.
In this post, we’re focusing on the first house—the house of self, appearance, and how you present yourself to the world. The first house is where your Ascendant sign resides, shaping your personality, physical traits, and first impressions. Glowing up your first house means enhancing your style, building self-confidence, and mastering the art of making an impact wherever you go.

𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆
For Aries Ascendants, glowing up starts with embracing the bold, dynamic energy that naturally radiates from your fiery first house. Ruled by Mars, the planet of action and drive, your presence carries a raw magnetism that commands attention and respect.
Appearance: Embracing Your Fierce Edge
As an Aries Ascendant, your natural energy is dynamic and assertive, and your appearance should reflect that vibrancy. Think bold yet uncomplicated—styles that let you move freely while making a statement.
Clothing: Experiment with sharp, tailored pieces like blazers or jackets paired with slim trousers or sleek skirts. Lean into colours like red, orange, or even monochrome black with bold accents. Activewear or athleisure-inspired outfits can also suit your energetic nature.
Accessories: Add one striking element to your look, such as a standout watch, leather boots, or a bold scarf. Choose items that feel purposeful rather than overly decorative.
Grooming: Aries thrives on simplicity and sharpness. Opt for a haircut or hairstyle that’s low-maintenance but impactful—think cropped, edgy, or sleek styles. A healthy, energised appearance is key, so prioritise skincare and physical health to radiate vitality.
Practical Step: Declutter your wardrobe and focus on pieces that make you feel powerful and authentic. Build a signature look around clean lines and bold accents.
Self-Confidence: Channelling Mars Energy
Confidence for Aries Ascendants comes from taking action and achieving goals. To glow up, focus on creating opportunities that allow you to demonstrate your courage and leadership.
Challenge Yourself: Aries thrives when striving for a goal. Set physical challenges like training for a race, learning a martial art, or improving your strength and stamina.
Speak Boldly: Practise expressing your ideas and opinions with clarity and conviction. Whether in meetings, social settings, or personal relationships, your confidence will grow as you assert yourself authentically.
Overcome Impulse: While boldness is your strength, balancing it with patience can elevate your confidence. Practise slowing down and thinking strategically before acting.
Practical Step: Set one actionable goal each week—whether personal, physical, or professional—and track your progress to reinforce your sense of achievement.
First Impressions: Magnetic and Courageous
Your Aries energy ensures people notice you right away, but fine-tuning your approach can make you even more compelling.
Body Language: Stand tall, make direct eye contact, and smile confidently. Your natural charisma will shine when paired with approachable gestures.
Control Your Pace: Aries Ascendants can sometimes rush through interactions. Practise slowing down your speech and listening more actively. This creates a balance between your bold energy and genuine connection.
Show Enthusiasm: Your excitement is contagious. Channel it into meaningful conversations and shared interests to leave a lasting positive impression.
Practical Step: Practise delivering a strong, calm introduction in front of a mirror or with a friend. Notice how small adjustments to your tone and body language can enhance your presence.
The Ascendant’s Role in Your Glow-Up
As an Aries Ascendant, your first house is ruled by Mars, making action and momentum key themes in your glow-up. To truly shine, focus on creating a life that reflects your pioneering spirit.
Stay Active: Incorporate physical activity into your daily routine to channel your energy positively. Activities like HIIT, running, or dance can keep you energised and sharp.
Initiate Projects: Whether at work or in your personal life, take the lead on initiatives that excite you. Your courage and drive will inspire others to follow suit.
Recharge Strategically: While you thrive on action, balance is crucial. Find active ways to relax, such as yoga, hiking, or creative hobbies that keep your energy flowing without burnout.

𝐓𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐔𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆
As a Taurus Ascendant, your glow-up is rooted in cultivating an aura of grounded elegance and inner stability. Ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty, pleasure, and harmony, you naturally exude a calm yet magnetic presence. The key to your glow-up lies in embracing your sensuality, practicality, and ability to create beauty in everything you do.
Appearance: Effortless Elegance and Timeless Style
Taurus Ascendants radiate a natural, earthy charm, and your style should reflect this combination of simplicity and sophistication. Your Venusian energy thrives on quality, comfort, and aesthetics that feel luxurious but approachable.
Clothing: Build a wardrobe around classic, well-tailored pieces in neutral or earthy tones, such as beige, forest green, or soft pastels. Fabrics like cashmere, silk, or linen appeal to your love of texture and quality.
Accessories: Choose accessories that are understated yet impactful—like a fine leather belt, a classic wristwatch, or a subtle yet elegant piece of jewellery. Focus on craftsmanship and durability.
Grooming: For Taurus Ascendants, a polished yet natural look works best. Whether it’s glowing, hydrated skin or a well-kept hairstyle, aim for looks that feel effortlessly refined rather than overdone.
Practical Step: Evaluate your wardrobe and grooming routine, investing in fewer but higher-quality items that make you feel grounded and confident every day.
Self-Confidence: Build Inner Security Through Consistency
Taurus Ascendants thrive on stability and dependability. To glow up your confidence, focus on habits and achievements that reinforce your sense of self-worth and inner security.
Routine Strength: Confidence for Taurus grows through consistency. Create daily habits that support your physical health, mental clarity, and emotional peace. This might include a skincare routine, regular exercise like yoga, or journaling your gratitude.
Celebrate Your Progress: Taurus Ascendants tend to overlook small wins. Make it a practice to acknowledge and reward yourself for even incremental progress—it builds the foundation for lasting self-assurance.
Ground Your Energy: When faced with challenges, your earthy energy allows you to remain steady. Lean into this strength by practising grounding techniques, such as deep breathing or spending time in nature.
Practical Step: Create a morning or evening routine that helps you feel centred and accomplished. Stick to it for 30 days to reinforce your confidence.
First Impressions: Calm, Collected, and Captivating
As a Taurus Ascendant, your natural calmness and reliability make a lasting impression. To enhance this, focus on adding subtle layers of charm and warmth to your interactions.
Body Language: Your steady demeanour is naturally attractive. Stand tall, smile gently, and move with deliberation. Avoid rushing, as your slower, more thoughtful energy leaves a stronger impact.
Speaking Style: Speak with a measured, soothing tone that reflects your grounded nature. Avoid overloading conversations with unnecessary detail—your words carry weight when they’re intentional.
Express Warmth: Your Venusian charm can sometimes come across as reserved. Add warmth by showing genuine interest in others, such as asking thoughtful questions or offering small compliments.
Practical Step: Practise speaking slowly and with intention. Record yourself and listen back to refine your tone and delivery, making it as confident and soothing as your presence.
The Ascendant’s Role in Your Glow-Up
As a Taurus Ascendant, your first house is ruled by Venus, which means your glow-up thrives on balance, beauty, and consistency. Your ability to combine practicality with indulgence makes you a role model for sustainable self-improvement.
Slow But Steady Wins: Unlike Aries Ascendants, who thrive on quick action, your glow-up is about building something lasting. Set long-term goals and work steadily toward them, knowing the results will be worth the wait.
Focus on the Senses: Taurus Ascendants are deeply connected to the physical world. Incorporate sensory experiences that uplift you—aromatherapy, cooking nourishing meals, or decorating your home with beautiful, calming elements.
Stay Grounded in Growth: While consistency is your strength, avoid getting stuck in comfort zones. Challenge yourself to step outside them occasionally, whether it’s trying a new style or pursuing a passion project.

𝐆𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆
As a Gemini Ascendant, your glow-up revolves around embracing your natural versatility, wit, and curiosity. Ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication and intellect, your charm lies in your quick thinking, youthful energy, and ability to adapt. Elevating your identity means sharpening your mental agility, refining your communication, and allowing your playful, vibrant spirit to shine.

Pisces Ascendants have a natural affinity for soft, flowing aesthetics that reflect their otherworldly charm. Your glow-up involves leaning into styles that highlight your dreamy, creative energy while ensuring they remain practical and balanced.
Clothing: Opt for flowing silhouettes, soft fabrics like chiffon or silk, and muted, oceanic colours such as seafoam green, lavender, or pastel blues. Play with layers, ruffles, or bohemian elements that evoke a sense of mystery and romance.
Accessories: Choose pieces that feel meaningful or artistic, like delicate jewellery, moonstone rings, or scarves with celestial patterns. Incorporate accessories that resonate with your imaginative side—perhaps vintage finds or handmade items.
Grooming: A fresh, dewy look suits your Pisces energy. Focus on skincare that enhances your natural glow, and opt for soft hairstyles or waves that feel effortless. Subtle, shimmering makeup or a touch of natural blush can emphasise your ethereal charm.
Practical Step: Update your wardrobe with a few statement pieces that feel artistic and fluid—clothing or accessories that express your dreamy, imaginative side.
Self-Confidence: Embrace Your Creativity and Compassion
For Pisces Ascendants, confidence stems from connecting with your inner world and expressing your innate creativity and empathy. Your glow-up involves strengthening your emotional resilience and fully honouring your unique talents.
Tap Into Your Creativity: Your Neptune-ruled energy thrives on artistic expression. Whether it’s painting, writing, music, or dance, engage in creative outlets that allow you to channel your emotions and imagination.
Set Boundaries with Kindness: Your compassionate nature sometimes leaves you vulnerable to others’ energy. Strengthen your confidence by learning to say “no” when needed and prioritising your own well-being.
Celebrate Your Intuition: Trust your instincts—they’re one of your greatest gifts. Whether in decision-making or in relationships, your inner guidance is often spot-on.
Practical Step: Dedicate time each week to a creative or meditative practice that allows you to reconnect with yourself and recharge your energy.
First Impressions: Gentle, Intuitive, and Captivating
As a Pisces Ascendant, your natural sensitivity and empathy make people feel at ease. To glow up, focus on refining your ability to connect deeply while projecting confidence and self-assurance.
Body Language: Maintain an open, relaxed posture and a soft, welcoming gaze. Your approachable energy is magnetic when paired with confident body language.
Speaking Style: Your voice carries a soothing quality. Practise speaking with clarity and purpose while allowing your natural warmth to shine through.
Share Your Depth: Pisces Ascendants shine when they share their creativity or insights with others. Talk about your passions, dreams, or artistic projects to leave a lasting impression.
Practical Step: Practise grounding techniques, like deep breathing, before entering social settings to ensure your gentle energy feels focused and self-assured.
The Ascendant’s Role in Your Glow-Up
As a Pisces Ascendant, your first house is ruled by Jupiter and Neptune, making compassion, intuition, and imagination the key themes of your glow-up. Elevating your identity involves embracing your sensitivity while creating firm foundations for emotional and spiritual growth.
Create a Dreamy Environment: Surround yourself with beauty and calm, whether through decor, soothing lighting, or music. Your environment significantly impacts your mood and creativity.
Balance Dreaming with Doing: While your imagination is boundless, your glow-up involves grounding your dreams into reality. Set actionable steps to bring your ideas to life.
Engage in Spiritual Practices: Pisces Ascendants often feel connected to something greater. Meditation, yoga, or journaling can help you align with your intuition and inner peace.

જ⁀♡⊹。° the world ended when it happened to me
( sae itoshi x fem! reader )

♡ a/n — for my childhood best friends to lover series :)
♡ word count — 1.3k
♡ content — sae itoshi x fem! reader, sae itoshi x fem! reader, angst i fear, goes from childhood to the U-20 game, no real explanation for why sae comes back from spain lowkey evil (canon), rin blames reader for sae changing, rin and reader are best friends, best friends brother trope
♡ synopsis — your whole life you've loved sae itoshi, but maybe childhood love wasn't as glamourous as everyone made it seem.

You were always around the Itoshi brothers.
Rin’s best friend, the annoyingly happy girl who somehow made yourself at home in their lives. Sae used to think you were a menace, a constant storm of giggles and relentless chatter that disrupted the quiet balance of his house.
You had been Rin Itoshi’s best friend for as long as you could remember — a whirlwind of energy and relentless optimism, the complete opposite of the quiet, serious boy who barely cracked a smile. But for some reason, he tolerated you. Maybe even liked you, though he'd never admit it.
Sae, on the other hand, made no secret of his disdain.
“Why is she always here?” he muttered one afternoon, rubbing his temples as you sang loudly along to a cartoon theme song.
“She’s my friend,” Rin mumbled through a mouthful of snacks.
“She’s annoying,” Sae shot back, glaring as you dramatically collapsed on the floor like you’d been shot.
“I heard that!” you chirped, grinning up at him.
“Good.”
And yet, the first time you barged into his room, he didn’t yell.
He was sick, curled up in bed, voice scratchy as he warned you from across the room, “Get out. You’ll get sick, idiot.”
But you didn’t listen. You tiptoed in, holding out a crumpled drawing with three stick figures labeled "Rin," "Sae," and "Me," all holding hands beneath a bright yellow sun.
“I made this,” you whispered, as if speaking too loudly would break him. “I wanted you to have it.”
Sae stared at the paper, throat tight. He didn’t thank you, didn’t smile, just turned his head and muttered, “Whatever.”
The week he recovered, his phone rang. He sighed when he saw your name, swiping to answer as he rubbed at his temple.
“You were right,” you croaked, voice completely hoarse. “I got sick.”
Sae rolled his eyes, but there was a ghost of a smile tugging at his lips. Yeah. You could stick around.
By the time you started middle school, you were practically part of the Itoshi household. You and Rin stuck together like glue.
You struggled with English — despised it, really — and Rin tried to help, but he wasn’t patient like Sae. So, you turned to the older brother, begging for tutoring sessions.
“No,” he said flatly when you asked.
“Please?” you pleaded, clasping your hands.
“You’re hopeless,” he muttered, but he still helped you.
Sae pretended to hate it, acted like he was being forced to suffer through your presence. But he showed up every day after school, meticulously explaining grammar rules while you doodled on the edges of your notebook.
Somewhere along the way, he started looking forward to those afternoons.
He liked the way you tilted your head when you were confused, how you brightened like the sun when he praised you for getting an answer right. He liked that it was just the two of you — no Rin, no distractions. Just you and him, your elbow knocking against his as you leaned in close to read from his textbook.
And maybe, in your twelve-year-old heart, you started feeling the same.
When Sae was recruited for the Real Madrid Academy at thirteen, the entire town buzzed with excitement. Everyone said it was a miracle, that Sae Itoshi would change Japanese soccer forever.
You were proud of him. But when you lay in bed that night, staring at your ceiling, all you wanted was to beg him to stay.
To keep being your tutor. To keep being around.
The night before he left, Sae texted you to meet him at the park. You assumed Rin would be there, but when you asked, Sae just shrugged.
“He fell asleep,” he said, licking his ice cream.
The truth was, he hadn’t told Rin at all.
You sat on the bench together, you pouting as you flipped the stick in your hand to reveal the kanji for "bad luck," while Sae’s said "good luck."
“Why are you lucky at everything?” you grumbled, tossing your stick aside.
Sae chuckled, the sound low and rare. He started dribbling his soccer ball between his feet, gaze focused as he said, “You can still call me, you know?”
“Huh?”
“For school stuff. Or... whatever.” He didn’t look at you when he said it.
In your childish mind, that was enough. You smiled, bright and unburdened.
“It’s a promise!”
“Yeah,” Sae echoed, teal eyes flicking to yours. “It’s a promise.”
He left a week later.
Rin fell apart without his brother. You stayed by his side, comforting him through the ache of Sae’s absence. And yet, you hid your phone under your pillow at night, quietly texting Sae about homework or your day.
You stayed by Rin’s side, comforting him, hiding the fact that you and Sae texted constantly. He never texted Rin. Only you.
Two years of texts and rare calls passed, and one night, the realization hit you like a freight train: you were in love with Sae.
You’d loved him since he got you sick, since he bought you ice cream, since he promised you could still talk to him.
You’d loved him since he caught the flu,
Since he drew diagrams in your notebook to help you with prepositions,
Since he made that promise to answer your calls.
One late-night call sealed your fate.
As you rambled on the phone about school, Sae mumbled, half-asleep, “I love your voice.”
You stopped talking, heart hammering, but by the time you opened your mouth to respond, he was snoring.
“I love you, Sae,” you whispered into the receiver.
“I love you too,” he muttered, voice thick with sleep, one eye cracking open to catch your stunned expression.
From then on, you and Sae were together. Quietly, distantly, but together.
When Sae came back at seventeen, he didn’t tell you.
Rin did.
rin-rin: Sae’s home
his text said.
rin-rin: I hope you enjoy that you’ve ruined him
You panicked, blowing up Rin’s phone with calls he never answered, some being sent straight to voicemail after the first few tries. And then Sae was at your door, taller, sharper, his face unreadable.
You burst into tears before you even spoke.
“Please talk to Rin,” you begged, clutching at his sleeve. “I don’t know what I did wrong, but I’ll fix it — please, just talk to him—”
But the look in Sae’s eyes was like ice, gorgeous, but dangerous- unsafe- fated to slip away
“You’re a bother,” he said, voice flat.
You froze.
“Huh?”
“You’ve clung to me since you were a kid. You’re nothing but a disease I need to get rid of.”
You laughed, shaky and desperate. “Sae, that’s not funny—”
“I’m not joking. I’m done with you.”
The wind howled as snowflakes caught in his hair. You collapsed to the floor, hugging your knees as Sae turned on his heel, leaving you crumpled on your doorstep, the door swinging in the cold winter wind.
You lost both Itoshis in one night. And you didn’t even know why.
A year and a half later, you sat alone in your living room, watching the Blue Lock vs. Japan U-20 match.
Rin, your old best friend, was on one team. Sae, your first love, was on the other.
And you stayed home, stuck in the same town, the same life, still struggling with English.
The camera zoomed in on Sae’s face, and something inside you snapped.
Without thinking, you hurled the remote at the screen, a crack spiderwebbing across his perfect, indifferent, calm, beautiful, heartbreakingly distant expression
The TV shut off, leaving you in suffocating silence.
Sae Itoshi had everything he wanted — fame, success, the world at his feet.
And you were still here. Stuck. Left behind.
Trying to understand how the world ended for you, while for Sae, it had only just begun.
You curled up on the couch, burying your face in a pillow as the weight of it all crushed you.
You’d lost them. Both of them.
And you didn’t even know why.

“Dear Ginny,
there have been three occasions in my life when I’ve known what love is.
The first was watching my parents fall in love more and more everyday, reminiscing on their years spent as high school sweethearts. My dad had confessed to my mum in a series of love letters, initially anonymous before she found him out. They’ve been together ever since, and I long for a love like theirs.
The second time I knew love, it was platonic. My best friends mean the world to me, and they’ve shown me more love in these past few years of school than I’d ever known before. I can trust them with my deepest, darkest secrets, and for that I am truely grateful.
The third time was brought on by you. Ginny Weasley, I’m in love with-“
“Need any help with that holiday homework, love?”
James peaked his ever messy head of hair around the young Potter’s door, balancing a plate of his various house husband specialties in his hand.
Harry flushed with a wide-eyed shock, frozen in place as James pushed further into the room and placed the food on his desk.
“N-no, thanks dad! It’s uh…it’s not hard!” Harry managed to stutter out in reply after a beat, eyeing James curiously as he dotted around the room.
“What do you have there? Is that potions?” James lit up, scurrying over to Harry’s desk, “You know, your mother and I excelled in potions in seventh year! I was head over heels-“
He paused, glancing between the letter on Harry’s desk and his son’s sheepish grin, his eyebrows furrowed in the guilt of being caught.
“My boy…” James began, “Is that a love letter?” Harry looked away, worry clouding his features as he often sought to avoid conversations about love with his dad - he didn’t want to make a fool of himself.
“You really are my son!” James exclaimed, running on the spot to release some pent up energy, “Oh, this is great! Who’s it for? Have I met her? Or him! You know I’d never judge-“
“It’s for Ginny, dad,” Harry groaned, interrupting the man who was behaving like a fourteen year old boy. “The Weasley girl?” James paused as Harry winced. “I know she’s my best friend’s sister, but-“
“She’s lovely! Oh, this is perfect! Yes, what a sweet girl - such a welcoming family, her parents are such a treat-“ James rambled as he paced his son’s room, ignoring the way Harry released the breath he held as he broke the news to his dad.
Harry always prayed his parents would never succumb to the expectations of blood status, marrying him off to some pretentious pure blood girl when he’d rather be with the quick witted red head who stole his heart.
Today, it seemed, those prayers had been answered.
“C’mon, son, let me help! I’m good at this, you know, swept your mother right off of her feet! A poet, she had called me, yes! What have you written so far?”

You pressed your key into the lock of your front door, twisting and turning to release the latch and enter the warmth of your home.
Letting out a shuddering breath from the frost that hit your neck in the street, you plunged into your hallway, throwing off your coat, bag and shoes before shuffling to the living room fireplace.
“Jamie,” you breathed, smiling with adoration at your husband’s perked up expression, anticipating your approach to the couch like an excited puppy after hearing the door slam.
“My lovely girl, welcome home! How was work? Are you hungry? There’s dinner on the stove,” he rattled off in a string of ecstatic exclamations, jumping off of the couch to wrap you in his strong arms.
You softened at his touch, humming in the warmth of his chest as you told him about your day and asked for late dinner.
“That sounds exhausting, sweetheart, I’m sorry,” he mused, pulling you to his chest on the couch after guiding you to the plush cushions with a bowl of food in your hands. “We had quite the eventful day here, too,” he started, bright eyed and reeling, “I’m sure it’ll cheer you up!”
“Tell me all about it, Jamie,” you murmured, cuddling into his chest like it was moulded perfectly for your head. “Harry’s written a love letter, a good one,” he began enthusiastically, “for that lovely little Ginny Weasley he’s been so infatuated with recently!”
He practically squealed at the confession, adding pressure to your waist out of unconscious joy. You grinned in surprise, eyebrows reaching for your hairline as you spun around to face James. “Well, he really is his father’s son, hmm?”
James bounced you on his lap in glee, describing the letter that Harry planned to take back to Hogwarts with him. “And then he’ll slip it under her door! Oh, love, it’s perfect!”
You smiled sleepily at his explanation, rolling your head across his chest to stare up at him dreamily. “He deserves a love like ours,” you mused, “I remember that night, I was so enamoured by your beautiful writing…Harry’s got your big heart.”
“And your beautiful brain,” he kissed your forehead, “and your gorgeous eyes,” another kiss, “and your stunning smile,” one kiss more. You giggled at his touch, leaning impossibly closer to him on the couch.
“If all goes as planned, I suppose we should have the Weasleys over for Christmas,” you mumbled with a sleepy smile, closing your eyes and tightening your grip on James’ arms that captured your waist. “Oh! I’ll make dinner! We can have a big party!”
James Potter, the big, strong man with an even bigger heart who just had to make you fall for his hopeless romantics.
