a month ago, i could have given a rough idea. right now, the short answer is... it's complicated. I'm hoping later this year, i might get it out, but I really don't know right now.

for details, I'm going to explain under a cut, because this is going to involve some heavy topics not everyone may want to read.

Let me preface this by saying that I've always tried to keep my personal life away from my blog. I've tried to keep my blog for me and fun and fandom. A fun space. And... there's a certain... respect for people's privacy that comes into it as well.

But... i also want to speak up to tell people also going through this that you're not alone.

I have two brothers, who, for the sake of privacy, I'll call B1 and B2. (yes, i know about the joke there.)

Anyway, quite literally the day after i posted the last chapter of Make A Splash, (SIGh 1), B2 had... um, for the sake of his privacy, I'm going to call it a Mental Health Event. And it's still an ongoing thing, because sometimes that's how these things work. The medication doesn't work straight away. Or not enough. Or its not the right medication. And so on.

And so on.

I write these words, but that's... there's no easy way to describe the trauma my brother's been through these last few weeks. Or the family. Or myself.

We're finally at the point where I'm starting to see glimpses of the ol' B2... but we're not out of the woods. Not yet. Maybe not for a while.

I don't know how long it will be until this crisis will be over, but at the moment, my brother is my priority.

And besides, for the last... uh, 3-4 weeks, I haven't had the emotional energy to write. In fact, this is the most I've written in all this time.

So. There is that.

That said...

SIGh2 is definitely in the works. Before all of that happened, I had five chapters written and most of the story outlined. I know where I need to go... I just need to have the time and energy to get there. I'm hoping to get to them and write this story so I can post it by the end of the year... but I just don't know right now.

TLDR: please bear with me. SIGh2 will happen. I just... don't know when at this stage. I'm hoping later this year, but it depends on factors outside my control right now.

ok but no for real why did "lake is canonically trans” become an entrenched belief in the fandom. it’s based on literally nothing but “uhh, she Looks Nonbinary/Experiences Oppression And Erasure” (quick, why do you think presentation equals gender? quick, did you forget that gnc people exist?), misremembering and misquotations of old/deleted tweets, and self-reinforcing momentum from fanon. 

like, deep train lore tedtalk from someone who has Been Here Forever:  shortly after the season was released, owen answered a question on twitter about whether or not she was intended to be read as trans, and his response was along the lines of "no trans narrative was intended but i'm glad when people can connect with a narrative/i support death of the author so you can interpret it how you want." unfortunately for train lore enjoyers, the tweet was eventually deleted alongside most others post he made that mentioned anything LGBT, likely due to how much the topic blew in the crew's face once the fandom started getting really insistent on/angry about the subject. it was never archived, which i'm guessing is because it was posted earlier in the fandom's history and also because "this character was written as cis" isn't exactly something people would consider exciting news worth saving.

so how do you know i’m not bullshitting you about that tweet having existed? you can still find references to the tweet online if you look at posts from around that time! for example, here’s a reddit comment from 2021:

and here’s a post i made in 2020 referencing it right around the time the “lake is canon trans” misconception started:

anyway, all that's to say: lake is canonically written as cis, and her narrative was intended as a more general metaphor for oppression. all different types of marginalized people can relate to her because of what a well-written metaphor it is, but the metaphor is about the concept of oppression and not intended to represent any one specific oppressed group. another thing that's important to remember is that this means that lake is canonically a gender non-conforming girl, which is a chronically erased and underrepresented demographic. so she is still a specific marginalized identity, and that's something that's worth appreciating!

as for the topic of various LGBT headcanons for lake? i’m gonna quote @snazzyscarf​ here: “being a versatile metaphor for systemic oppression is not a bad thing. representing broad demographics is not a bad thing! getting angry when people identify that broadness to their experiences and not yours is, though”

so have fun with the death-of-the-author season interpretations that the crew supports. headcanon what you want about lake’s identity. but don’t give the writers unearned credit for supposedly writing a trans character when they didn’t, and don’t be a dick to people who enjoy lake’s canon identity (masc girl) or don’t interpret her the same way you do.

Umm... If anyone was curious how many times the POV changes in the Raven Cycle I made a chart lol. The key's on the left and the chart's on the right!! (also I included the prologue and epilogue!!)

Also some fun little observations I found while doing this chart or just some notes I had:

Gansey has the most back to back chapters, which surprised me bc I personally considered Blue the "main character"

Ch 2 and 6 across all 4 books is Blue's POV (well ch 3 and 7 in book one bc of the prologue but they still line up in the chart lol)

I thought the series ended with Blue's POV. If you considered the epilogue it actually ends with Ronan (which I guess makes sense bc of The Dreamer Trilogy)

Gansey has a little "staircase" between the books (Book 1 Ch 4, B2 C4, B3 C5, B4 C6)

I swear Ronan had a chapter or two in book 1 but I guess not???

Most of the "others" are character I personally didn't remember that well or I was jsut too lazy to figure out their color lol

I took the liberty to came up with a whole new company that focuses on building ships, mechanics and androids to use in the ocean field (because I'm an ocean nerd HAHA)

She doesn't have a name yet, but her model was built to lift heavy things on a transportation ship (Ercole= Hercules) and doing minor fixes on machineries of the ship. Also the number of her neck is the date in which I created her (so the day I am sending the ask LMAO I WAS HYPERFOCUSED ON HER THE WHOLE DAY), making it like her series number or smth

I am no scientist but I try to make things have sense HAHAHAHAH So:

Ercole androids are powered by water. They get water into their system like a human drinking water, for then extracting the hydrogen from it with a fuel-cell and releasing the excess water in the water tank on their backs (that can be reused) and the heat from their necks. Extracting the hydrogen from the water is a process called electrolysis, that requires a source of electrical energy, in this case wind power. The hole on their chest serves to capture wind and store the energy created by it, used for the electrolysis. It can open and close, because excessive wind can result in overriding the android's system.

I wanted to make her one of the androids that B2 rescued from their absusive owner (that also broke the wind capturing device making it unable to close, that's why she wears a shirt. Not that she really needed a reason to, but oh well HAHA) 👉👈 For then starting her new life at Fusionsprunt. She ofc helps with heavy lifting (BIG FOREARMS RRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-) and sometimes with machineries repairment

I will make doodles of her interacting with B2, Hunter and Guto because- *cries in wholesomeness*

Also I hope the design makes sense HAHAHAH I am very new to this robo thingy
