She really just keeps herself busy with other things and is also too anxious to seek it out.Ceron: Actively seeks. He’s a natural relationship/family man.Rhett: Actively seeks. B) What inspired you to create them?Almost the entire cast of Novel1 was originally based off of characters I had before I started the novel. These are their stories (dun dun):Lyn: MYXA, THE TEMPORARY NO. 13 OF ORGANIZATION XIII. Or rather, her Somebody.Basically, she started out based off a sort-of-self-insert OC from my days in the Kingdom Hearts Organization XIII fandom who never really had much of a personality and existed just to fulfill my dream of dating Dilan/Xaldin (while adhering to canon as much as possible). Lyn has grown from that shallow beginning, of course, and is ironically now probably one of the least-like-me characters I have. I think I really took a comment my friend made like 6 years ago about how “Lyn is basically you” to heart lol.Ceron: DILAN, THE SOMEBODY OF XALDIN, NO. 3 OF ORGANIZATION XIII.He started out based off of my version of Dilan from those same days in that fandom. He’s a lot less changed and a lot more just… deepened and become more human over the past 8 or 9 years. I had a pretty good thing going with that character lol even if it wasn’t true to canon.Rhett: FACELESS SOLDIER MAN BECOMES YOUNG BOY WITH TRAGIC BACKSTORYHis character was originally some random soldier guy who’d lost his arm in a skirmish thing. Then one day my friend was trying to draw Aniello but the face came out looking really young so I added some cute dimples and BAM SUDDENLY ANIELLO HAD A SON WHO HE ABANDONED AND THEN SERENA ADOPTED HIM AND NOW HE’S A RAY OF SUNSHINE FIGHTING BACK AN INTERNAL HURRICANE OF RAGE?? I kept the missing arm, but made the story behind it a lot sadder. And the whole story of his life sadder. I’m sorry, Rhett.Serena: CRAZY SEDUCTRESS HORSE OC GOES MAD BECAUSE HER TRUE LOVE REJECTED HER, HATES LITERALLY EVERYONEShe was based off of an OC I had back in my roleplaying days who was… a terrible person (horse). Really terrible. I think her backstory translated to pre-Shadow-Aniello breaking up with her, so she just decided everyone sucks, time to be chaotic neutral, screw everyone over for the fun of it, mentally torture innocent people sometimes?? I don’t even know. She had problems. What inspired me to gradually get her to where she is now as the bamf hbic mama bear I love is that I hated her and she was horribly unrealistic. Plus Rhett deserved at least one good mom.Aniello: NIGHTMARE THE TERRIFYING FRIESIAN HORSE WARLORDAgain, from my roleplaying days. Really the only thing that stayed the same is he’s terrifying and doesn’t like to use contractions. I didn’t even keep the scottish accent. I did keep the nickname “Nightmare” for a while to differentiate from pre-Shadow-Aniello and post-Shadow-Aniello but then pre-Shadow-Aniello stopped being a lovely innocent young man who never did any wrong and I stopped needing to keep that distinction. I mean really I just wanted to make a villain that combined everything I love about villains, (sense of decorum, high intelligence, wit, raw power, an explosive temper), with characteristics I despise (greed, a crazy sense of entitlement, complete disregard for people and their feelings, etc), who had NO SAD BACKSTORY WHATSEOVER. And I think I did a pretty darn good job with him, too.Marius: MIKHAIL THE WEIRD, UNDEVELOPED BROTHER OF NIGHTMAREI don’t even know.I guess what really inspired me to make Marius as he is now is my undying love for Villainous Brother Duos, particularly when there is actual love/concern between the brothers (in this case it’s one-sided but it still makes my heart hurt happily). Marius’ story has always been about caring way too much about his little brother, but only recently I decided that he’s actually on Aniello’s side rather than constantly beating himself up over Aniello’s (supposed) death.MSS: The music video for Skrillex’ “First of the Year (Equinox)”. Not even joking. He developed into the adorable friend-shaped-friend he is now because I wanted to write a story without all the creepiness and drama I poured into Novel1.

E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?((Oh this question is SO FUN TO THINK ABOUT.))Lyn: Probably yes in both cases! Lyn is pretty easy to get along with, loves making friends, and likes to think the best of people when not presented with tons of negative evidence. She can be emotional, but she’s very friendly and sweet and I think I’d love to be friends with her.Ceron: Yes, and yes! We can chill out and read or talk about deep things. Ceron isn’t someone who opens up easily or quickly, but he’s chill and casually friendly as long as he’s not in a group situation. He’s… he’s basically me. I think we’d get along.Rhett: HECK YES MY BOI. Rhett is a ray of sunshine who wants to be friends with EVERYONE provided they’re not complete assholes and I fit that criteria at least. He might be a bit high energy for me to hang out with a lot (assuming I just met him as a person not as his creator), but he’d probably be super fun to have as a friend.Serena: UMM. MAYBE. Honestly I think just meeting her I’d be super intimidated (her ‘air’ is loosely based off all the strong ladies I’ve met and been intimidated by in my life bahahah). But if we had a chance to hang out I think we’d get along! We might not be Close Friends but she’d be good to go to for advice and stuff.Aniello: Nope. I mean he’d get along with me just fine but there’s no friendship from either side. He’s never been big on friendship in general? Just… things that will help him rise higher and get him what he wants.Marius: HmmMMMmmm he’s a big scary quiet dude but he’s got some surprises about him. If it was some AU where he wasn’t caught up in Aniello’s schemes, I’d like to hang out with Marius on a nature walk or something. He’d probably own a bunch of random unusual pets that he rescued. Nothing too clingy or dependent, just like… crows, squirrels, deer, and probably some semi-domesticated cats that all visit him and hang around his log cabin deep in the woods. Deep down he kinda just wants to be that curmudgeonly guy in the woods you’re slightly scared of but who turns out to be kinda cool and teaches everyone about respecting nature.Man.Why you gotta love your little brother, Marius. He ruins everything, including you.MSS: Absolutely! He loves to make friends and he’s super chill about everything. He doesn’t stick around very long, usually, but we’d get along while he was there.BONUS ROUND: Tyrus and Virgil: NOPE. These guys are assholes lmao I’d hate them as real-life people (and they wouldn’t look twice at me). They generally don’t care about most people in the world, and they’re basically those gross, drunk, objectifying creeps who sleazy-bar-hop to pick up chicks/dudes (with consent; they at least care about that) every dang night and occasionally get in bar fights (which is why they become bouncers so they can fight people on the job). Virgil is worse than Tyrus, who would be capable of a relationship if something Real came his way. I love them as their author but man they’re.. not great human beings bahahahah

Headcanon: Serena has a rather unique lullaby she used to sing to little Rhett

YES. Rhett is one of few people in the universe to have heard Serena singing. She probably started out with regular lullabies but then got creative to make him laugh because making her little baby boy laugh is the best feeling in the world.

Also there’s a 90% chance it involves swear words because Serena.

yyYYYYEESSSSS this poor baby is scared of so many things when he first comes to the world. Anything that makes loud noises or sudden movements, especially, and the Jacobsons totally have that one shower faucet that sounds like it’s tearing the house apart every time it starts up. Betsy (little Elizabeth) teaches him ALL about the scary noises and becomes a lot braver herself in the process. VuV

I’m sorry it’s been like 53423378 years since you sent me this ask BUT I FINISHED IT HERE WE GOOOOOOOOOOooooooo~

1: Their Voice

Aniello: Hmmm he has a very smooth sort of voice that draws you in and is very easy to listen to and kind of hard to ignore, if that makes sense. It’s not VERY deep but definitely a low, masculine pitch…? He very rarely raises his voice, preferring to speak more firmly/sharply rather than shouting (and if he starts shouting, a lot of people are probably about to die).

Serena: Her voice is somewhat on the low end of the typical female register, and has a natural sort of sharpness that demands attention and can come across as obnoxious if you don’t know/like her. Unless she’s flirting, when it becomes buttery smooth lol. Her laughs also vary depending on if she’s just being herself or flirting, with similar differences.

Rhett: HMMMMmmm he’s difficult for some reason. He has a very… average sort of 18-year-old male voice. He speaks quickly but with a sort of lackadaisical, saying-words-as-they-come-to-me sort of manner, and he almost always has a hint of laughter or at least light/happiness behind his tone (unless talking about someone else’s problems). When he gets angry his voice gets maybe a little deeper but mostly he just gets louder. His laugh varies between full ‘buahahahahahah’s and little ‘heheh’s when he’s either nervous-laughing or just a little amused.

Ceron: Very deep, and has a husky sort of quality (not quite gravelly, but kinda leaning towards it). He tends to speak quietly and in a sort of flat monotone unless he’s really engaged in a topic and shows more animation in general. His voice drops down to a bass almost-growl when he’s angry but he won’t get loud unless he’s ENRAGED (and that takes some doing (or a certain person whose name starts with 'A’ and rhymes with 'cello’)). Most of his laughs are quiet sorta one-breath-out-through-the-nose things (like a snort but with just air), or just one “hah” combined with a grin. His real big laugh always sounds like he was surprised into it because it comes out really loud and abrupt. This is probably because things that make him laugh like that are usually jokes with surprising twists or unexpectedly funny things.

Lynnaea: She’s also difficult for equally inexplicable reasons e__e Average mid-20s female voice I guess? Lol. Adjectives that come to mind are “clear, bright, gentle”. I think maybe Mary Margaret from Once Upon a Time is a good reference so I’ll just go with that as my headcanon. Her laugh is very giggle-like and doesn’t get very loud.

Soroush: VERY, very deep, clear and smooth. Has been described (by Rhett) as “like a mountain lake of rich chocolate”. He tends to speak slowly, possibly because he’s aware his voice is hypnotically gorgeous (j/k he just does it because he’s been the 'mysterious wise sage monk’ for over 1000 years). ((An idea of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRTc7iNOFwo around 0:46 when the guy’s voice goes really deep for a few seconds. Only imagine it slower.)) His angry voice is clear and authoritative, about the same pitch just louder. And his REALLY laughing laugh is very loud and sort of thunderous.

Arjun: Deep/masculine, though not as deep as Ceron’s or Soroush’s. Kind of sounds like Moses from Prince of Egypt’s singing voice? Very expressive voice. His laugh is a magical rapid-fire giggle. Watch any Game Grumps episode with Dan Avidan and listen to his laugh. That’s it. It’s beautiful.

9: Their Theme (i’m not good at themes so HAVE THESE… THINGS)

Aniello: Impatient hedonismSerena: Tired determinationRhett: Rainbows in a thunderstorm.Ceron: A worn down, heavily weathered sentinel.Lynnaea: Faith & hope.Soroush: Ginkgo leaves (described as “…a symbol of changelessness, possessing miraculous power, bearer of hope and of the immeasurable past, a symbol of love. Because of all its properties it is associated with longevity.” Which is great 'cause he’s immortal).Arjun: Orchids? Kind of. It kinda fits, since there’s some myth about orchids that they’re parasites but they’re not. And he was sorta treated as a parasite his entire childhood by his shitty ableist society ((and then ended up growing up to become an evil emperor who got revenge by completing a near-genocide of all his people except himself and his brother. Yaaaayyyyy))

13: Their Embarrassing Memory from Years Ago

Aniello: Oh man. Pretty much any time he had to act in subservience and /ask/ people before he did something. Or when he was thrown off-balance and someone ended up getting the best of him in a situation, (back when he couldn’t just kill them for it). Like when Serena found out he was cheating on her and threw him out of her apartment along with several well-aimed projectiles, then tossed all his stuff on the front lawn. And lit it on fire. And Aniello threw a bitchfit and it was all highly undignified. People were talking about it for weeks and it rather hurt his political career for a while afterwards.

Serena: Trying to get drunk off of rubbing alcohol.

Rhett: He’s really hard to actually embarrass, so it was probably like… getting caught in an awkward situation by his mom. If you catch my drift. HE WAS A TEENAGE BOY WITH RAGING TEENAGE HORMONES.

Ceron: Trying (and failing) to join a gang when he was 14 or 15 and his family being like Heck No, Son. Even his terrible role model older brothers were like “that’s bad news bro”. And then they took him out bar hopping.

Lynnaea: Getting caught hardcore making out with Ceron for the first time (which was actually their first kiss /ever/… go big or go home, I guess)

Soroush: Probably tripping on his tail in front of a bunch of people, poor guy.

Arjun: Same as Rhett only worse because his mom made a HUGE DEAL ABOUT IT.

22: What They’re Like On Two Hours of Sleep

Aniello: Even more dangerous and likely to kill than usual. He doesn’t like his judgment being impaired OR feeling tired so he generally gets enough sleep to stay in tip-top torturing shape.

Serena: Extra Strength Bitch™

Rhett: Delirious, zoning out, emotions even more volatile than usual. Just as likely to burst out laughing until he cries as to just start crying.

Ceron: Zombie, even quieter than usual, doesn’t want to talk to or listen to anyone.

Lynnaea: Functioning but probably more emotional and quieter than usual. Yawns a lot.

Soroush: Lethargic, but generally pretty friendly, calm and probably way too honest.

Arjun: Either asleep or dead. He’s so sick he can barely function on 8 hours or more of sleep, there’s no way he’s handling life on less.

Balloons for the Sunshine Boy

Rhett would totally buy a balloon cart and run around giving them out for free because they’re NEAT! He draws the smiley faces on himself so that each one is a little personalized. He’ll do other expressions if people ask for them. He just wants to spread the joy. <3
