Heeeeeyyyy I made the bingo card :]
Mainly do this bingo because, yeah with all the previous expectations and now with all the stuff that Vivzie had do and of course Helluva Boss, it was deserved to make one of this, also I always wanted to do one so… the opportunity was given to me
Some things to clarify:
“Why critical?”
Well this bingo card is more focus in the critical part that in the show itself, so yeah that would be the main reason of why I put it (also just in the hypothetical case that end up in any fans dashboard and not made them confused)
More characters with designs that doesn’t make sense
With I made cases like Vaggie which is supposed to be a moth, basically designs that are supposed to be some kind of animal or something but they don’t like that
Alastor end being the protagonist
This could be Angel too. This means that any of this two the had more focus or development that Charlie which is the protagonist

Glorified G - Chapter 46
January 22nd 1992
Over the past few weeks Joanne had had her first few CPT sessions, they seemed to be going well and they helped her to keep the nightmares and flashbacks at bay, she did however still struggle to sleep and the people around her were often victims of her angry outbursts- which Dr Isles had assured her were a side effect of the PTSD. Joanne hadn’t rushed to ask the director to take her out of the field as she was apprehensive about it and she didn’t want to risk losing her job by asking to be moved out of the line of fire, and she certainly didn't want to be sent back to London to go back to Interpol. She hadn’t told Eddie this of course, as far as he knew the wheels were truly in motion for her to be taken out of the field, she felt awful about lying to him but she just couldn’t bring herself to do it, not yet.
Eddie and Jo had spent every free second they had together looking at houses, they’d managed to find three contenders- all were relatively central to both potatohead and the FBI building, meaning that their commute wouldn’t be any longer than it currently was. The house that Jo liked the most had a large gate on the driveway and high walls that she felt would be good considering Pearl Jam were gaining popularity, she’d done a project on celebrity stalkers when she was at university so she was armed with enough evidence to convince Eddie that although it is rare, celebrity stalkers can indeed be violent, for example Mark David Chapman who shot John Lennon in 1980. Having high walls and a gate offered her piece of mind, Eddie hadn’t seemed opposed to it, which was something Jo was grateful for, she didn’t want to have to argue with him on this.
The guilt of hiding the truth from Eddie was starting to get to Jo, so she had asked William to have a meeting with her so she could discuss the prospect of her getting out of the field, she was concerned that this would make her seem weak to her boss and that he might even suggest her transferring out of the office into a full time teaching role, which as much as she loved her teaching experience with John Douglas, she didn’t fancy it full time as she found it rather tedious. She hoped that she would be able to stay exactly where she was just without going out into the field, but she knew that being in the field was a big part of her job description and the only real exception to getting out of being in the field was if you were injured and generally even then that was only a temporary thing. As she took a seat in the director’s office the nerves began to pool in her stomach,
“Good afternoon Agent Taylor, how are you doing?” William asked while making the two of them a cup of coffee,
“I’m doing okay, I’ve been seeing Dr Isles, and I think that it's helping- I’m still struggling to sleep ya know?” William nodded at the young woman in front of him, the truth was he knew exactly how she felt he knew exactly what she’s going through,
“You know, everyone on this team has cases that have stuck with them, mine was one of the first cases I was on-” He paused, a brief look of sorrow graced his features, “There was a serial killer abducting young children, little girls- his type just so happened to look exactly like my daughter, each time we got a report of another girl being taken my mind always assumed it was my baby- it struggled so hard to stay focused on that case. And weeks after we found the guy a part of me still expected him to come back and get my girl, the images of the children he killed stuck with me for years, i used to see Louise’s face ion the faces of those we didn’t save- Dr Isles helped me through that so I know you’re in good hands.” Jo gave him a small smile as he sipped his coffee,
“I uh- I’ve been thinking, is there any chance I can have some time out of the field? I’m not sure how long I’ll need, I just- I’m not as focused as I should be in the field and I’m worried I’m putting everyone at risk.” Jo searched William’s face for a hint as to how he was going to respond, she took a sip of her coffee as he pondered what she was saying for a few moments,
“Do you want to be out permanently?” He asked, Jo shook her head violently,
“No! Just for a little while till I get back on top of things.” He nodded before speaking again,
“Do you mind if I make some calls and see what I can arrange for you?” Jo raised an eyebrow,
“Could I not just consult on cases and do paperwork? I’ve got a stack that will probably take me a while to finish,” The director shook his head,
“Jo, if you do that you’ll be bored out of your mind, I’ll see what I can find you- if there isn’t anything then you can do that.”
“Why are you going out of your way just to make sure I don’t get bored? If you don’t mind me asking, sir.” Jo knew that he didn’t have to find her an alternative to field work, yet for some reason he was making it his duty,
“If I’m honest it’s because you’re one of the best agents I’ve seen in a very long time, and I’d hate for you to leave us when you’re such an asset to this team.” He spoke slowly as though he was pondering the weight of his words, “and I can’t help but feel responsible for what you’re going through, you were right when you said it was me- if I could change it I would believe me-” Jo was quick to silence her boss,
“Sir, I was upset that day and it was all such a shock to me, I promise you I didn’t mean any of what I said- it was out of order for me to say that.” She offered him a small smile as a silent apology,
“I know, but you weren’t out of line I completely understand, and I would’ve been just as upset if I was in your position.”
Jo left William’s office feeling less guilty than when she entered, she was glad he valued her for what she did as much as she loved Eleanor and her colleagues she knew for a fact that her paperwork was always done to the highest standard while they generally rushed to get it done so they could go home, occasionally they asked Joanne to finish for them. She sat at her desk trying to tackle some of the paperwork, but at the same time she didn’t want to start it if she was going to be working on something else for the foreseeable so she decided to sit and stare off into space for a while.
William Webster racked his brain trying to think what he could get Joanne to do, there wasn’t anything in the office that would be a good use of her time, so he decided to give an old friend a call.
After an hour or so of Jo staring into space and trying to busy herself she was summoned into William’s office once again, she took a seat opposite him eagerly waiting for him to tell her what she was going to be doing for the next few weeks or months. He grinned at her as she sat down,
“So, I’ve made some calls, and how would you feel about doing some research for John Douglas? It’s local so you won’t have to move or travel any more than you already do,” Jo nodded before thinking about how she’d felt during the time she had spent teaching alongside Douglas,
“Is it a teaching role?” She questioned and William gave her a smile and shook his head,
“No, I know how dull teaching can be- John is doing some research that I think you might be interested in, I’ve told him you’ll give him a call,” William paused briefly, “He can explain it better than I can.” Joanne gave an awkward smile, she began to ponder what the research could possibly be, was he going to study her and her plethora of trauma?
“I’ll go give him a call now, thank you Sir.”
Eddie was on the phone to Mike discussing a potential song when he heard Jo’s car pull into the driveway, he watched with caution as she seemed to skip to the door - he quickly brought the call to an end, puzzled by his girlfriend’s sudden change in behaviour. He put a pot of coffee on to brew as Jo beamed stating that she had ‘so much’ to tell him, she quickly changed out of her work clothes into some joggers and an old Motley Crue band tee, Eddie handed her a mug of coffee before taking a seat opposite her,
“So? What’s got you in such a good mood?” He asked with a curious smile,
“Well, John Douglas wants me to help him with some of his research! He’s interviewing violent offenders to try and see if they have anything more in common that can be used to help law enforcement when searching for offenders. So, I get to go into prisons and conduct interviews on his behalf, so we can cover more ground between us if that makes sense- I’ll probably be only meeting with a handful of the prisoners, but he wants me to try and build up some sort of rapport with them, ya know? Try and gain their trust and not antagonise them, see if they open up to me. The best bit? I’ll get an acknowledgement when he publishes his findings!” Eddie smiled at Jo’s enthusiasm, it amazed him how she could be so passionate about something that would scare him half to death, he wouldn’t even dream of speaking to one of the monsters that Jo would be interviewing, but that was one big difference between the two of them; Jo tried to see them as more than their crimes, she wanted to understand them, help them. Whereas Eddie saw them as animals, monsters who should be locked up.
Joanne had been briefed by John about how to behave in the prison setting, she knew that they would most likely lie to her about their crimes, and that when they did, rather than calling them out on it in an accusatory manner she should simply state that she’d read the case file, she knew every detail about the case. She knew how vital it was that she’d learnt everything about the cases, so she wouldn’t be shocked or disgusted by anything they told her. He had also informed her that they were more likely to open up if she wasn’t making notes during the interview and that taping the interview could often distract them or prevent that from divulging certain details. She knew all of the theory that would help her for this research, however no amount of studying could prepare her for what she was going to face when she sat down across from serial rapist, Marc O’Leary.

We don’t know if you can still be a Directioner for all the years that have passed … But we still love the five boys the same way we loved them in the group! 😍
Each one went their way, and since they are so talented… It is obvious that they have been amazing! 😎
Everyone has released great songs. If we had to choose our favorite in his solo career, we could not. We love them equally! 💕
The point is that some of the boys are already on their second album. And although there is no hurry, we had been waiting for Louis for a long time. And finally the day has come! 😱

📢 Recomendamos que el día del concierto lleves dinero en efectivo. Si realizas una compra en una tienda grande puede utilizar billetes grandes de $20.000 o $10.000. Sin embargo, si compras algo en alguna tienda pequeña de barrio o a algún vendedor callejero, te recomendamos pagar con dinero sencillo, ya que esto hace más fácil la transacción cuando estás en la vía pública.
📢 Lugares donde cambiar dinero:
Las mejores casas de cambio se encuentran en el centro de Santiago (referencia metro Universidad de Chile línea 1, calle Agustinas), ya que al haber varias pueden encontrar mejores precios y así comparar.
La comuna de Providencia también posee una gran cantidad de casas de cambio a buenos precios, como referencia pueden recorrer las calles aledañas al metro Pedro de Valdivia de la línea 1.
Los terminales de buses como Pajaritos, Santiago y San Borja ofrecen cambio de dinero a un buen precio.
El aeropuerto es un lugar muy seguro para realizar sus cambios de divisas, sin embargo este puede ser un poco más caro.
📢 Para los días del concierto, te recomendamos llevar calzado cómodo, como zapatillas, ya que al estar de pie haciendo la fila durante el día, el cansancio será grande, a su vez mientras disfrutamos del show, es más cómodo moverse con este tipo de calzado.
📢 El clima de Santiago en el mes de enero se caracteriza por ser caluroso durante el mediodía y la tarde, al igual que es muy seco. El sol es potente, por lo cual pueden llevar ropa fresca, y ocupar bastante protector solar, re-aplicando cada dos horas. No olviden algún sombrero y no exponerse mucho al sol para no insolarse.
📢 Si bien durante el día es bastante caluroso, las noches son muy agradables y a la vez frías. También les recomendamos tener una chaqueta delgada para la noche, ya que hay veces que las temperaturas bajan de manera considerable, y suele correr un viento muy helado.
📢 Hidratarse constantemente. Es necesario que comas bien tus comidas e hidratarte constantemente para evitar algún desmayo. Recuerda que el cansancio y fatiga son tu peor enemigo antes de un concierto!
📢 Al mantenerse bien hidratadas, será muy probable que necesiten ir al baño con frecuencia. El Estadio dispondrá de baños dentro del recinto, fuera de él puede ir al Portal Ñuñoa que esta a unas cuadras del Estadio. También considerar que Zona Vip tiene una gran probabilidad de tener baño químicos en esa zona, ya que en otro tipo de conciertos con zona vip normalmente son los baños que se ocupan, para que lo consideren antes de llegar a su asiento.
📢 Alimentarse bien es una tarea esencial para mantener altos niveles de energía durante el concierto. Si bien, habrán muchas opciones de comida callejera a las afueras del Estadio, a tan solo unos 10 minutos caminando hacia el oriente (por Avenida Grecia) se encontrarán un pequeño mall llamado Portal Ñuñoa. En este pueden encontrar un supermercado JUMBO y un patio de comidas con muchas opciones. También pueden utilizar la aplicación de uber eats o Rappi, las cuales poseen un muy buen sistema de delivery.
📢 Para las personas extrajeras, les dejamos una imagen de los tipos de enchufes que se van a encontrar en Chile, para que puedan ver el adaptador si es necesario para sus cargadores. También les recomendamos traer una batería portátil que tengan en caso de emergencia para el final del día.
📢 No llevar lightsticks de grupos que no se presentarán ese día. Lo ideal es mantener el respeto por la familia SM, y es por ello que solicitamos abstenerse de llevar lightsticks de otro fandom. Así también se ahorran algún problema.
📢 Nuestro staff se encontrará a disposición para guiarlas en lo que necesiten y para ayudarlas en la medida en que podamos. Podrán identificarnos debido a nuestras CREDENCIALES de staff. 📢 During the concert days, we recommend you to carry cash with you and use $20.000 or $10.000 notes only in big stores. However, if you buy something at a small store or from a street vendor, we suggest for you to pay with change or coins ($1.000, $2.000 or $5.000 chilean pesos). This will make the transaction easier while you are on the street.
📢 Places to exchange money.
The best money exchange houses are in downtown Santiago (reference: Universidad de Chile metro station in line 1 Agustinas street). Since there are many of these houses, you can find better prices due to their competitiveness.
The district of Providencia also has a big number of exchange houses with good prices, as a reference you can walk around the streets surrounding Pedro de Valdivia metro station also in line 1.
Bus terminals like Pajaritos, Santiago and San Borja also offer currency exchange at a good price.
The airport is a good and safe place to exchange your money, they have a lot of different currency that you can change into, but it’s a little more expensive.
📢 For the concert days, we recommend the use of leisure shoes, like sports shoes, because while waiting at the queue you'll be standing during long hours and the tiredness will be intense. At the same time, it'll be easier to move during the show with this kind of shoes.
📢 The weather of Santiago in January is characterized by high temperatures during noon and the afternoon, and it's dry too!. The sun is intense, because of that we recommend to be lightly dressed, and use sufficient sunblock; reapplying every 2 hours. Do not forget a hat and avoid exposing so many hours to the sun.
📢 Even if the day is pretty hot, nights are nice and even cold. We also suggest you to carry a light jacket for the night, because sometimes the temperatures can be low and the nights are windy.
📢 Stay hidrated. It is necessary for you to eat well too, so drink water constantly and have some snacks with you in order to avoid any potential faintings. Remember that fatigue is your worst enemy before the concert!
📢 Because you will be constantly drinking water, you'll likely need to use the bathroom very often. The Stadium will have bathrooms within the venue. If you’re outside you can go to the nearest mall called Portal Ñuñoa, which is located only a few blocks away from the Stadium. Also consider that for VIP section, probably will be chemical restrooms.
📢 Eating well is an essential task in order to maintain high energy levels during the concert. Although, there'll be many options of street food outside of the Stadium, only about 10 minutes walking towards the East (by Avenida Grecia) you'll find a small mall called Portal Ñuñoa. In this place you'll find a JUMBO supermarket and a food court with many options. You can also use the application of uber eats or Rappi, which have a very good delivery system. 📢 For the foreigners, we leave you an image of the types of plugs that will be found in Chile, so you can find the correct adapter for your devices if necessary. We also recommend you to bring a portable battery in case of an emergency or the end of the day.
📢 Please don't bring lightsticks from other groups that will not show up that day. The ideal is to maintain respect for the SM family artists, and that is why we request you to refrain from carrying lightsticks from another fandom. El Dr. Osvaldo Olivares comenzó el día con una presentación muy detallada sobre la neurociencia que subyace en cómo los humanos perciben y responden a la música. Habló sobre cómo las frecuencias determinan cómo escuchamos timbre, colores y registros. También enfatizó que los humanos sólo pueden tolerar frecuencias por debajo de 120DB y cualquier cosa por encima de eso puede conducir a la pérdida y daño de la audición. Señaló que si bien es posible hacer que su sistema visual esté inactivo al cerrar los ojos, es imposible cerrar los oídos y, por lo tanto, su cerebro está constantemente estimulado por el sonido. Después de esto, siguió la señal de la música en el cerebro desde el momento en que escuchas un sonido a través de la vía auditiva hasta el momento en que comienzas a mover tu cuerpo a la música a través del sistema motor. Una visión muy interesante de la música y la neurociencia.
Mientras que el día anterior, Karen Wacks habló de tecnología para individuos, esta mañana se centró más en usar la musicoterapia como una herramienta para interactuar y sanar a las comunidades. Recordó a todos que la curación musical es diferente en cada comunidad y que, aunque no haya muchas oportunidades para convertirse en un musicoterapeuta certificado en Panamá, por ejemplo, no es necesario tener credenciales específicas para hacer este trabajo y sanar a su comunidad. Mientras mantenían el tiempo de manera muy efectiva, pasaron en el círculo un shaker extendiendo su mano derecha y usando su mano izquierda para agarrar el shaker de la persona a su izquierda pasándolo a la persona a su derecha. Esta actividad tenía la intención de fortalecer a la comunidad al romper las barreras físicas y, literalmente, unir a todos al moverse como una sola máquina para lograr el objetivo de pasar el shaker. Luego, mientras seguían manteniendo el tiempo y para que todos se familiarizaran más con los que estaban a su alrededor, recorrieron la sala y una persona decía quién estaba a su izquierda y derecha y luego el resto de la sala lo repetía. La actividad final consistió en dividirse en diferentes grupos, escuchar música y dibujar en una hoja de papel. Cuando la canción cambió, le pasaban el papel a otra persona del grupo para que pudieran agregar su propia expresión al dibujo. El objetivo de la última actividad era reducir el estrés de crear arte y compartirlo con otros y también observar la influencia que la música tiene en la creación de arte comunitario.
Por último, Chelsea Brown MT-BC explicó la ironía de que los hospitales son entornos increíblemente estresantes que causan mucha ansiedad cuando deberían ser lugares de relajación y curación. Luego realizó un ejercicio de conexión a tierra que involucra todos tus sentidos y te pone más en sintonía con tu cuerpo. Explicó cómo esta actividad calma el sistema nervioso y que la música también estimula el sistema nervioso parasimpático, que es donde ocurre la curación. La música también libera serotonina, oxitocina y dopamina en el cerebro, que son útiles para la relajación y, por lo tanto, para la curación. Ella proporcionó herramientas y procedimientos que los musicoterapeutas pueden usar en el hospital para reducir el estrés, como la visualización guiada y los ejercicios de relajación.

January 16, 2020 - Day 4 of the 8th Music Therapy Symposium:
Dr. Osvaldo Olivares began the day with a very detailed presentation about the neuroscience underlying how humans perceive and respond to music. He spoke about how frequencies determine how we hear timbre, colors, and registers. He also stressed that humans can only tolerate frequencies under 120DB and anything over that can lead to hearing loss and damage. He pointed out that while it is possible to make your visual system dormant by closing your eyes, it is impossible to close your ears and therefore your brain is constantly being stimulated by sound. After this, he followed the signal of music in the brain from the moment you hear a sound through the auditory pathway until the moment you start to move your body to the music through the motor system. A very interesting insight into music and neuroscience.
While the day before, Karen Wacks spoke of technology for individuals, this morning she focused more on using music therapy as a tool to engage with and heal communities. She reminded everyone that music healing looks different in every community and that even though there may not be many opportunities to become a certified music therapist in Panamá for example, you don’t have to have specific credentials to do this work and heal your community. Through multiple examples and videos of exercises that she has conducted in different parts of the world, including Uganda and Gulu, she demonstrated how important it is to have cultural humility and sensitivity when engaging with communities that are not your own. With any work that is intended to heal or help a community, there exists a danger of toxic compassion in which the individuals who are helping are doing so for their own benefit and sometimes develop a superiority complex. This talk focused on how crucial it is to respect cultures where they are and empower them with tools to help themselves rather than superficial acts of service that are not sustainable.
Just before lunchtime, Professor Jorge Moltado delivered an engaging, activity-based presentation to room 101. He began his clinic with a short lecture regarding the power of using music as a tool to listen to one another. Following his talk, he asked everyone in the room to grab an instrument, and subsequently he spoke to individual groups about what he wanted them to do in the following section. When everyone was ready, he had a group of participants sit in a circle in the middle of the room. In sequence, everyone in the circle would play solo, and then the previous performers would join them in an ever-growing ensemble. Everyone paid close attention to each other, and the responsive playing created a very calming aura in the room for all to enjoy. Professor Moltado closed the clinic with a lecture concerning the disconnect between one’s rationale and one’s desire to be heard, and how music therapy can provide resolution for this internal conflict.
After the break Karen Wacks returned with Esteban Roa, a music therapist from Colombia, to expand on her earlier talk with real time exercises that she conducted in the aforementioned communities. For the first activity, every participant sat in a circle around the room and the speakers guided them through stretches to get everyone in a relaxed mood and to make them familiar with the people around them. While keeping time very effectively, they passed around a small shaker by holding out their right hand and using their left hand to grab the shaker from the person on their left to the person on their right. This activity was intended to make the community stronger by breaking down physical barriers and literally bringing everyone closer together by moving as one machine to achieve the goal of passing the shaker. Next, while still keeping time and in order for everyone to become more acquainted with those around them, they went around the room and one person would say who was on their left and right and then the rest of the room would repeat it. The final activity involved breaking off into different groups, listening to music and drawing on a sheet of paper. When the song changed, they passed the paper to someone else in the group so that they could add their own language and insight to the drawing. The goal of the last activity was to reduce the stress of creating art and sharing it with others and also to observe the influence that music has on creating communal art.
Lastly, Chelsea Brown MT-BC explained the irony that hospitals are incredibly stressful environments that cause much anxiety when they should be places for relaxation and healing. She then performed a grounding exercise that engages all of your senses and makes you more in tune with your body. She explained how this activity calms the nervous system and that music also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system which is where healing happens. Music also releases serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine in the brain which are helpful for relaxation and therefore healing. She provided tools and procedures that music therapists can use in the hospital to reduce stress such as guided visualization and relaxation exercises.
While music has great power and potential to heal on individual and communal levels, the central theme of the presentations today was that this power requires those who are using it to be very cautious and responsible. Music can heal but it can also harm, whether physically by damaging your ear drums, or emotionally by eliciting negative thoughts or memories, and it is therefore crucial to have the right training and for music therapists and healers to understand the needs of their patients and work extremely carefully to make sure they are protected.

A bit of Galicia in New York💙
Those who know me also know that I spend the entire year waiting for two days: the birthday of my twin brother and I, and Christmas. So when November comes I literally start counting the days and planning every day between December 13th and January 6th. And I drive everyone crazy organizing my birthday, my father’s birthday, family meetings and friend’s reunions. And it’s been like that for years. When I came to New York the 31st of October, I was already thinking about that, but I convinced myself that it was going to be okay because I was in New York, and that was the only thing that mattered. Besides, I was lucky enough to have my friends visiting the week right before my birthday so they brought a little piece of home to New York. Despite being so far from home, my family and friends managed to send me presents and cards, and the most important thing: I got lots of messages and lots of love from my friends all over the world. So even when I couldn’t lose myself in all the plans/party preparations craziness, I was happy to be (figuratively) surrounded by a lot of amazing people who made a lot of efforts to make me happy that day. But then it came the difficult part: Christmas. I was going to spend Christmas by myself in a huge house because everyone was visiting their families. So IMAGINE. THE. DRAMA. It was the day before Christmas when my mum called me and said “you are in New York, go out and find a place where you can feel a little bit like home, there is a Casa Galicia in every big city, go explore and find one.” And we all know that mums are always right. So I called some of my friends-those who were still in New York- and we found a place called Spain restaurant. I wasn’t full of emotion to be honest, because I thought it was going to be a not-Spanish-at-all kind of restaurant that you find in every city, so imagine my surprise when I opened the door and it was more Spanish than most of the restaurants you can find in Spain! And I promise that I almost cried tears of joy when that old man came to talk to me with his Galician accent. And it was not only the place that made me feel as if I was in a small town back home. It was them, the familiarity that they offer, the stories that they are willing to share if someone’s willing to listen, the way in which that old man’s manners reminded me of my grandfather. And it was then that I realized how little we appreciate things when we have them right there and how much we miss them when they are so far away or even when we won’t have them anymore. It wasn’t my happiest Christmas, but I found a piece of myself in a small restaurant of New York. And that is priceless.
Los que me conocen saben que me paso el año entero esperando a que lleguen dos fechas: mi cumpleaños (y el de mi hermano mellizo) y Navidad. Así que cuando llega noviembre empiezo a planear cada día desde el 13 de diciembre hasta el 6 de enero, y no exagero. Y vuelvo a todo el mundo loco organizando mi cumpleaños, el cumpleaños de mi padre, reuniones familiares y encuentros con amigos. Y así ha sido desde hace mucho años. Cuando llegué a NY el 31 de octubre, ya estaba pensando en lo diferente que iba a ser todo esta vez, pero me convencí a mi misma de que iba a estar bien porque estaba en Nueva York y eso era todo lo que importaba. Además, tuve la suerte de que mis amigas me visitasen la semana de antes de mi cumpleaños y trajeran con ellas un trocito de casa a esta gran ciudad. A pesar de estar tan lejos de casa, mis amigos y mi familia se las apañaron para mandarme un montón de regalos y cartas, pero lo más importante es que recibí muchos mensajes y mucho cariño desde distintas partes del mundo. Así que incluso cuando no me encontraba en medio de la locura de hacer planes y preparar fiestas a la que estaba acostumbrada, estaba feliz de estar (figuradamente) rodeada de gente increíble que se esforzó mucho para hacerme feliz ese día, aún estando tan lejos. Pero entonces vino la parte difícil: Navidad. Iba a pasar la Navidad sola en una casa enorme, porque todo el mundo se había ido a pasar las vacaciones con su familia. Así que IMAGINAD. EL. DRAMA. Fue el día antes de Navidad cuando me llamó mi madre y me dijo “estás en Nueva York, busca un sitio en el en el que te puedas sentir un poco como en casa, hay una Casa Galicia casi en cada gran ciudad, sal y búscala.” Y todos sabemos que las madres siempre dicen las cosas por una razón. Así que llamé a mis amigos que todavía estaban en New York y encontramos un restaurante llamado “Spain Restaurant.” Para ser sincera, no estaba llena de ilusión precisamente, porque esperaba encontrar el típico restaurante español-no español que hay en prácticamente cada ciudad fuera de España. Así que imaginaos mi sorpresa cuando abrí la puerta y me encontré en un restaurante más español que muchos de los restaurantes que hay en España. Y os prometo que casi lloro de felicidad cuando aquel hombre mayor se acercó a mí hablándome con su acento gallego. No fue solo el lugar lo que me hizo sentir como si estuviese de vuelta en una pequeña ciudad en España. Fueron ellos, la familiaridad que nos ofrecieron, lo dispuestos que estaban a contar historias a aquellos que estuviésemos dispuestos a escuchar, la forma en la que aquel hombre mayor me recordaba a mi abuelo. Y fue entonces cuando me di cuenta de lo poco que apreciamos las cosas cuando las tenemos delante de nosotros, y lo mucho que las echamos de menos cuando están lejos o incluso cuando ya no están.
Quizá no fuese la navidad más feliz de todas, pero encontré una parte de mí en un pequeño restaurante de Nueva York, y eso no tiene precio.

Day 8 (January 14th) - Anders and the Warden

When Rashia was little, Anders was like a legend.
The very idea that even any one of them would attempt to escape the Circle was almost unthinkable, inconceivable. And Anders did this more than once. She would watch him from a far, across the mess hall, during classes with Wynne, in the dormitories at night when Jowan had finally stopped trying to get her attention and let her “read” her book in peace.
She’d stick her face in her books and peer over the edge of the binding, under her lashes, just to watch the fair-haired healer and his friend from afar.
Karl. Poor boy was only sixteen when he stared going grey.
And it seemed that Karl was Anders’ only friend.
At least his only friend that he talked to. Just about everybody in the Circle was his friend: apprentices, Templars, even a few of the enchanters and (at least so it was rumored) a Senior Enchanter whom no one knew the name of, but they were more the sort of friend you snuck off behind the shelves or locked yourself in the storage rooms with.
Being the resident escape artist made him a legend, yes, but it also made him a pariah. And that made Rashia’s heart hurt just a little.
And then Karl was transferred. Anders escaped a few more times.
By the time Rashia had made her fatal error in helping Jowan find his phylactery and been conscripted by Duncan shortly afterwards, Anders had escaped six times. Only, she hadn’t seen him in a long time, which worried her. She could only hope he was merely serving his punishment somewhere in another part of the tower... because the alternative made her heart hurt even more.
Then there was Ostagar. The betrayal. Lothering. The Brecillian Forest.
It had been several months when she returned to the tower to call upon the Warden treaties for the aid of the mages. She didn’t see him then either. But she hadn’t really been looking.
More months passed. She fell in love with Alistair. She killed Loghain in single combat. Slew the archdemon and rode off into the sunset with her fellow Warden. Sort of. They spent another month or so together after they’d all scattered to the winds. Even Zevran had left her for a time.
And then she arrived at Vigil’s Keep.
It was raining. Of course it was. Rashia grit her teeth as she tried to see through the downpour. Mhairi was helpful, knowing the area the way she did. She liked Mhairi. She hoped this one survived the joining.
They were attacked by darkspawn, and Rashia was surprised to note that the foul things had almost gotten the drop on them. How had that happened?
Alistair had taught her how to accurately sense them, and she’d grown even more accurate then he’d been able to be, so she knew that wasn’t the problem. But she didn’t have time to dwell on it, not when something had so obviously gone wrong. Still, it worried her that a Warden Fortress had been overrun by a single band of darkspawn.
She helped a few soldiers get the medical supplies they needed before heading inside. And if she’d thought the outside was bad, the inside was worse.
By now she’d worked herself into a fury, and she was torching and freezing darkspawn left and right. Sometimes, when she got tired of casting, she drew her greatsword, Starfang, and she used the magic of the elven spirit to help her cleave their heads from their shoulders instead.
“A-ha! There you are!” Called a familiar voice.
Oghren.
“What... are you doing here?” Rasha asked, grateful to see him, though not so grateful to smell him. Well. At least he hadn’t changed, like she’d asked.
He chuffed, breathing a cloud of ale breath into her face. She didn’t bother trying to hide her discomfort; Oghren wouldn’t have noticed it to even be offended by it anyway.
“When these darkspawn showed up,” he replied, grinning at her, “I thought, “Just you wait until the new commander gets here and you’ll all be spitting teeth out yer arses!”” Rashia sighed softly and just gave him the universal look for, “Really?”
He didn’t seem to notice, and in fact continued with, “Followed the screaming, and sure enough, here you are. Good on ya!”
Apparently, according to Mhairi, he’d been here since before she’d left the keep to guide Rashia on her way there. He wanted to join the Wardens.
“Well, I’m not going to stop you,” Rashia said. “But we should probably secure the keep first.” Oghren chuckled, and belched. “Well what are we waiting for?”
They went down a series of hallways, killed more darkspawn. Looted the darkspawn. (“I still don’t understand why they bother carrying money,” Rashia muttered, “I mean, like, what are they for? Armor oil?” “Trophies, probably,” Mhairi supplied helpfully. “I know some giants in the Emerald Graves do that.” Oh. Well. That made much more sense.) Went down another hallway. There was a door at the end, and behind it, Rashia could sense magic being cast. Was there another mage warden still alive?
She turned the knob and pushed...
...and on the other side stood a mage wearing the tackiest set of mage robes she’d ever seen. Clearly not a warden, then. But they had their back to her, and they were torching a darkspawn with just their hands, barely keeping it at bay before eventually the damage grew to be too much and the darkspawn fell to the floor in a burning heap.
Rashia cleared her throat.
The mage jolted a little, turning around and wringing their hands. They were singed at the tips. Fire magic sometimes did that if your were too hasty with it.
“I... ah. I didn’t do it.”
The mage was a man. Tall, blond. Wait...
“Hey! I know you from the Circle!” He grinned, but Rashia was too shocked to do the same. “Now, now, I know what they’ve been saying about me, but... ah, but this? Not my doing.” He jerked a thumb in the direction of a couple bodies in Templar armor. Judging by the injuries, they’d been killed by darkspawn.
“No,” she muttered, “I know darkspawn blade patterns. I believe you.”
He hadn’t seemed to have heard her, as he was still babbling about how Biff had gone down whilst fighting the darkspawn.
They exchanged pleasantries for a while, even introducing himself and blithely sharing his status as a wanted apostate.
“I know who you are,” Rashia said evenly, meeting his eyes.
“Everyone knew who you were. Anders.”
There was a moment of silence, and then the faint sounds of more fighting and shouting could be heard over the storm. She fixed Anders with that commanding stare that had even worked on Sten and Shale now and again, and he straightened up instinctively.
“We’ve lost a lot of Wardens, and I need another fighter. Come help me, and I just might be able to help you.”
Then he followed her without a word, and the rest was history.
Yet several years later, Rashia sat inside a clinic in the bowls of Darktown. Perched on the edge of a cot, she watched as Anders once again took up the mantle of the Grey. The robes were thinner on him now, at least around the middle, but his muscles had somehow managed to grow more dense, not less, over his time away from the Order.
“So,” he asked her as he fastened the belt and adjusted the gloves. “How do I look?” Beside her, Ser Pounce-a-lot meowed loudly. She chuckled, rubbing the tabby’s head affectionately.
“You’re a little thin,” she said bluntly, “but Ser Pounce seems to agree that... you look good.” She gave him a quick once over as he walked over to sit on the cot across from hers. As soon as he was comfortable, Ser Pounce-a-lot leapt from his current position into Anders’ lap, and curled up there to begin purring up a storm.
“I still can’t believe he’s here,” Anders murmured, running his fingertips through the tabby’s short fur. “I still can’t believe you’re here. It’s like seeing a legend come to life.”
Rashia chuckled. “That’s funny. I used to think of you like that.”
“What, me?” Anders stared at her, dumbfounded.
“Yes you. When we were in the Circle together. All of those escapes... all the stories you told... I remember stalking you after you’d finished enduring whatever punishments you’d been given, hanging on your every word so that I knew I was hearing it from the source. I knew you probably exaggerated some things, but if I heard them from you and not, say, Jowan, then I was less likely to hear about you “encountering a dragon after you’d run across the frozen Calahad” or something of that nature.”
“Huh. Really? I... I don’t know whether to be flattered, or...”
Rashia snorted, and then briefly descended into giggles. “I would not have called my behavior back then very flattering. But still, I thought of you as a legend nonetheless. Seeing you at the keep after slaying an Archdemon sort of... dismissed any notions I might’ve had about that, though, considering how I found you.”
“Oh yes, standing literally red handed over some burning darkspawn and dead Templars,” Anders deadpanned.
“I knew you hadn’t killed them, you know. Of course, if you’d been able to shut up for ten seconds you might’ve heard me say that.” She grinned at him. He scowled, but it didn’t stay. “I was never very good at that. I’m still bad at it. Even with Justice in my head.” He paused, adding, “Especially with Justice in my head.”
Rashia just hummed softly.
“Well, if I’m a legend come to life, then you’re a miracle, you know? I’d come home to the keep, first to find you missing, then dead? And then suddenly Stroud shows up with a girl who says she’s my cousin who both tell me that you’re not dead, you’re very much alive and living here in Kirkwall. After reading those reports and seeing the sketches... I had to come see you for myself. To make sure that you were really you.”
Anders was quiet for several moments as he focused on Ser Pounce.
“I was afraid for a long time, of Wardens coming for me. That they’d arrest me and kill me... us.” Little blue cracks of lightning spiderwebbed across his skin, and immediately she took his hands in hers, forcing him to meet her eyes once more as she’d done all those years ago.
“I’m not going to do that to you. In fact, I’m going to do whatever it takes to keep you here, and keep you safe. I’m not going to fail you this time, even if it means giving my life. And I’m going to help you and your cause. Both of you. Anders. Justice. Just... don’t do anything stupid again, and maybe you’ll live long enough to become a proper legend yourself. Alright?”
Anders, stunned speechless, could merely only nod in return.
Rashia, satisfied that she’d gotten through to them both, released their hands and leaned back again, glancing over at the pot they’d left to simmer on the fire in the back.
“Now, let’s see what we can do about putting more meat on those bones, hm?”
She got up, and Anders followed, carrying Ser Pounce-a-lot in his arms.

Adora: ¿Viste el TRANSART de Teddy: Unity Coalition en el Teatro Villain en Little Haiti este año, van a tener a Jupiter Velvet, King Femme y talleres reales también? ¿Así que hay cosas que hacer y probar además de ver espectáculos y arte?
Teddy: si Ya es su quinto año; el fin de semana del 26 de enero, 27. Hacer y ensartar cuentas de arcilla, con Corinne Robertson el sábado a las 3 p. m., una clase de Improv / Open Mic de 7 a 8 p. m., seguida de una recepción de la exposición y una charla artística de Chloe Martini y Sábado, un taller muy especial con Storme ‘Delaverle, un Trans Pioneer que estuvo en realidad en los históricos disturbios de Stonewall en 1969.

A las 4 iré al taller de Storme; Me encantaría escuchar de primera mano sobre los disturbios de Stonewall.
Teddy: Mmmmmmmm ……. Tan genial … parece que Jupiter Velvet, King Femme y un actor llamado Sensitive Black Hottie (muy lindo por cierto) están en domingo a partir de las 8 pm. El folleto dice que se trata de la “Visión y posibilidades dentro de la comunidad transgénero y no conforme con el género”. Me encanta la no conformidad … no es cómo descubrimos quiénes somos y qué aspectos únicos tenemos para ofrecer … ahí es donde comienza el arte.
Adora: Exactamente, y donde comienza la diversión también; incluyendo las fabulosas pecas de Júpiter y esos pómulos … ¡guau! El folleto también dice: “reúne una colección de talentos, individuos y géneros artísticos para crear conciencia, nutrir a los artistas aspirantes e ilustrar a la población general acerca de las muchas capas de esta comunidad.” Me encantan las capas de todo tipo y franja … y esto realmente es una comunidad con muchas capas, posibilidades, nuevas ideas … y es 2019, ¡y estoy lista para nuevas ideas!
Teddy Behr: Mmmm … ¡Yo también! Necesitamos personas que se atrevan a ser diferentes, y especialmente cuando tienen el coraje y el apoyo para convertirse en las personas únicas que realmente son. Y es importante para todos, ya que facilitan que otras personas experimenten, prueben cosas y se conviertan en lo que necesitan ser o quieren ser. Es emocionante porque con cada generación tenemos nuevas oportunidades y un mayor sentido de libertad para que todos avancemos en el camino de la aceptación y la libertad personal y social. Quiero decir que es genial, tenemos muchas personas convencionales que persiguen carreras organizacionales y crían familias, pero cada sociedad necesita creativos, no conformistas y, sobre todo, innovadores. TRANSART y otros eventos similares fomentan y validan lo que es diferente, y lo que podría resultar innovador también. Y es genial que tengan Storme de Stonewall Riots … Tenemos nuestra historia, nuestra perspectiva, y siempre necesitamos a nuestros mayores, que saben cosas que no sabemos.

Adora: Did you see Teddy: Unity Coalition’s TRANSART is at Villain Theatre in Little Haiti this year, they’re going to have Jupiter Velvet, King Femme and actual workshops too; so there’s stuff to do and to try out besides seeing performances and art?
Teddy: Yeah. It’s their 5th year already; on the weekend of January 26, 27. Making and stringing clay beads, with Corinne Robertson on Saturday at 3pm, an Improv/Open Mic class from 7-8pm, followed by an exhibition reception and artist talk by Chloe Martini, and at 4pm on Saturday, a very special workshop with Storme’ Delaverle, a Trans Pioneer who was actually at the historic Stonewall Riots back in 1969.
Adora; Wow, OK…so I’m going to Aryah’s Closet with stylist Robert Dee at 3pm on Saturday. They’ll have clothes, accessories and style tips from Robert Dee; It’s free, and you can bring donations too…maybe I’ll bring some things I can’t use anymore to pass along. At 4 I’ll go to Storme’s workshop; I’d love to hear firsthand about the Stonewall Riots.
Teddy: Mmmmmmmm……. So cool….looks like Jupiter Velvet, King Femme, and a performer called Sensitive Black Hottie (very cute btw) are on Sunday starting at 8pm. The flyer says it’s about the ‘Vision and Possibilities within the transgender & gender non-conforming community. I love non-conformity…isn’t that how we find out who we are and what unique aspects we have to offer…that’s where art begins.
Adora: Exactly, and where the fun begins too; including Jupiter’s fab freckles, and those cheekbones…wow!! The flyer also says: ‘brings together a collection of talents, individuals & artistic genres to create awareness, nurture aspiring artists and enlighten the general population about the many layers of this community.’ I love layers of every type and stripe…and this really is a community with lots and lots of layers, of possibilities, of new ideas…and it’s 2019, and I am so ready for some new ideas!
Teddy Behr: Mmmm….Me Too! We need people who dare to be different, and especially when they have the courage and support to become the unique people they really are. And it’s important for everyone, because they make it easier for other people to experiment, and try things out, and to become who they need to be or want to be. It’s exciting because with each generation we get new openings and a greater sense of freedom for everyone to move further along the path of personal and social acceptance and freedom. I mean it’s great we have lots of conventional people who pursue organizational careers and raise families, but every society needs it’s creatives, it’s non-conformists, and above all, it’s innovators. TRANSART and other similar events encourage and validate what’s different, and what just might turn out to be innovative too. And it’s so cool they’ll have Storme’ from Stonewall Riots…We have our history, our perspective, and we always need our elders, who know stuff we don’t.

Me encanta la no conformidad … no es cómo descubrimos quiénes somos y qué aspectos únicos tenemos para ofrecer … ahí es donde comienza el arte.
Adora: Exactamente, y donde comienza la diversión también; incluyendo las fabulosas pecas de Júpiter y esos pómulos … ¡guau! El folleto también dice: “reúne una colección de talentos, individuos y géneros artísticos para crear conciencia, nutrir a los artistas aspirantes e ilustrar a la población general acerca de las muchas capas de esta comunidad.” Me encantan las capas de todo tipo y franja … y esto realmente es una comunidad con muchas capas, posibilidades, nuevas ideas … y es 2019, ¡y estoy lista para nuevas ideas!
Teddy Behr: Mmmm … ¡Yo también! Necesitamos personas que se atrevan a ser diferentes, y especialmente cuando tienen el coraje y el apoyo para convertirse en las personas únicas que realmente son. Y es importante para todos, ya que facilitan que otras personas experimenten, prueben cosas y se conviertan en lo que necesitan ser o quieren ser. Es emocionante porque con cada generación tenemos nuevas oportunidades y un mayor sentido de libertad para que todos avancemos en el camino de la aceptación y la libertad personal y social. Quiero decir que es genial, tenemos muchas personas convencionales que persiguen carreras organizacionales y crían familias, pero cada sociedad necesita creativos, no conformistas y, sobre todo, innovadores. TRANSART y otros eventos similares fomentan y validan lo que es diferente, y lo que podría resultar innovador también. Y es genial que tengan Storme de Stonewall Riots … Tenemos nuestra historia, nuestra perspectiva, y siempre necesitamos a nuestros mayores, que saben cosas que no sabemos.

Adora: Did you see Teddy: Unity Coalition’s TRANSART is at Villain Theatre in Little Haiti this year, they’re going to have Jupiter Velvet, King Femme and actual workshops too; so there’s stuff to do and to try out besides seeing performances and art?
Teddy: Yeah. It’s their 5th year already; on the weekend of January 26, 27. Making and stringing clay beads, with Corinne Robertson on Saturday at 3pm, an Improv/Open Mic class from 7-8pm, followed by an exhibition reception and artist talk by Chloe Martini, and at 4pm on Saturday, a very special workshop with Storme’ Delaverle, a Trans Pioneer who was actually at the historic Stonewall Riots back in 1969.
Adora; Wow, OK…so I’m going to Aryah’s Closet with stylist Robert Dee at 3pm on Saturday. They’ll have clothes, accessories and style tips from Robert Dee; It’s free, and you can bring donations too…maybe I’ll bring some things I can’t use anymore to pass along. At 4 I’ll go to Storme’s workshop; I’d love to hear firsthand about the Stonewall Riots.
Teddy: Mmmmmmmm……. So cool….looks like Jupiter Velvet, King Femme, and a performer called Sensitive Black Hottie (very cute btw) are on Sunday starting at 8pm. The flyer says it’s about the ‘Vision and Possibilities within the transgender & gender non-conforming community. I love non-conformity…isn’t that how we find out who we are and what unique aspects we have to offer…that’s where art begins.
Adora: Exactly, and where the fun begins too; including Jupiter’s fab freckles, and those cheekbones…wow!! The flyer also says: ‘brings together a collection of talents, individuals & artistic genres to create awareness, nurture aspiring artists and enlighten the general population about the many layers of this community.’ I love layers of every type and stripe…and this really is a community with lots and lots of layers, of possibilities, of new ideas…and it’s 2019, and I am so ready for some new ideas!
Teddy Behr: Mmmm….Me Too! We need people who dare to be different, and especially when they have the courage and support to become the unique people they really are. And it’s important for everyone, because they make it easier for other people to experiment, and try things out, and to become who they need to be or want to be. It’s exciting because with each generation we get new openings and a greater sense of freedom for everyone to move further along the path of personal and social acceptance and freedom. I mean it’s great we have lots of conventional people who pursue organizational careers and raise families, but every society needs it’s creatives, it’s non-conformists, and above all, it’s innovators. TRANSART and other similar events encourage and validate what’s different, and what just might turn out to be innovative too. And it’s so cool they’ll have Storme’ from Stonewall Riots…We have our history, our perspective, and we always need our elders, who know stuff we don’t.
