That summer in the attic of the Seaside Hotel is the best and worst of Trine’s life.

anyway hi! my name's kili (yes like the dwarf in the hobbit) and uh here's some stuff about me that's not in my blog description

I like comics! I like them a lot. despite the size discrepancy between my batfamily posting and my marvel posting at this point in time I'm actually a way bigger marvel fan than dc fan (just because dc's continuity mess is a lot for my stickler-for-cohesiveness brain to handle)

I also like superheroes! one of these first two points may be a side effect of the other.

I do read comics! I know a lot of marvel and dc fans don't (which is fine! by the way) but yeah I do so generally speaking I tend to be talking about those more. also it's been my special interest for like eightplus years so I know a lot. sorry in advance.

I am a proud member of the "charles xavier sucks" club. the man should not be trusted with anyone's children. ever. or adults. or even like plants. just put him in a little cardboard box with a plastic cactus. he'll be fine.

I really enjoy storytelling, both doing it myself and analyzing how other people do it. the second thing is much easier to do than the first but I try my best! (I'm black_banners_raised on ao3, by the way)

I have my own rules for capitalization and they probably seem arbitrary, but in general I tend to not capitalize unless I'm more or less writing an essay. if you're ever confused by my tone please ask! I don't mind clarifying.

I also really really like music and I probably won't post about it much but I have playlists for a lot of stories/characters and I love thinking about sound and lyrics and all of that. it's just another form of storytelling! and it's such a fun form too.

I work in a church! my job is actually to help make it more progressive and accessible to people who are not old and white and it's going well I think (as of now my biggest accomplishment is a summer camp inclusive to disabled and neurodivergent campers, but I'm working on single-use gender neutral bathrooms!)

Sept 2 - went digging around in storage boxes and found the couple decades old remains of my yarn stash; not much of one since I was mostly an indifferent and infrequent crocheter back then. Basically just had three types of yarn; a partial ball of probably -Bernat-acrylic that was leftover from making a baby blanket and trimming a purchased chenille baby blanket for the oldest nibling 20+ years ago, an unfinished baby blanket of Bernat Cottontot yarn which I've now frogged to make a fancier baby blanket out of, and a couple balls of Bernat Baby Boucle that I'd meant to make a scarf out of but barely started on. All except that first mentioned have now been wound into cakes.

For supper I did a sauce based on oven roasted fresh garden tomatoes to serve with pasta and meatballs.

Sept 3 - not much done today. For supper I made barley salad to have with hamburgers.

"California has approved a bill to help address the dark side effects of the externally glitzy fast-fashion sector, putting the onus on manufacturers to implement repair and recycling programs. 

According to CalMatters' Digital Democracy project, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024 on Sept. 28, more than a year after the bill began making its way through the state legislature. 

The act seeks to address the growing problem of waste from the fashion industry. CalMatters notes in its analysis that the Golden State tossed more than 1.3 million tons of textiles in 2018. 

As it stands, the state ships 45% of the items that are donated overseas, which contributes to environmental pollution, and once there, much of it still ends up in landfills, where it produces potent heat-trapping gases such as methane. 

In Ghana, for example, which has seen its beaches polluted by fast-fashion waste, 40% of the 15 million garments received each week are discarded. All in all, despite the fact that 95% of California's materials are recyclable, only 15% of clothing and textiles are reused. 

Democratic state senator Josh Newman, the bill's sponsor, told the Guardian that these concerning figures inspired him to take action.   

"We worked really hard to consult with and eventually to align all of the stakeholders in the life cycle of textiles so that at the end there was no opposition," he explained. "That's an immensely hard thing to do when you consider the magnitude of the problem and all of the very different interests."

According to the Guardian, the program is expected to go into effect in 2028, with its numerous backers anticipating it could create as many as 1,000 jobs in the Golden State. 

Details are still being hammered out. However, garment manufacturers who aren't already participating in eco-friendly programs will have incentives to adopt greener practices, with recycling collection sites and mail-back programs among the possibilities.  

And while some have worried that small businesses and mid-sized brands could be disproportionately impacted by the legislation and end up passing on the prices to consumers, Newman estimates that the cost should be less than 10 cents per garment or textile."

"they'll be paid." he added the stuffed animal to the cart. he didn't even look at the price in all fairness before he handed the phone back to you. you pouted further and max leaned in to kiss you on the lips, "enough of that. what else do you want?" then rubbed the top of your head with his large hand.

honestly, he knew very little about sanrio or hello kitty. he knew one time he kicked one of them off the bed in an attempt to get comfy after a long double header and you whined until he picked it up off the floor and apologized to the stuffed toy. but, anything for you, he supposed.
