Those of you that diminish Katara's role as a healer- I despise you and you should be strapped down to a chair and made to watch Kingdom while I very aggressively point out to you that the nurse, Seo Bi, is the mvp despite barely ever engaging in combat.

Actually, all of you should watch Kingdom on Netflix. It's actually one of the best zombie media released in the last 5 years. It's about a zombie outbreak during the medieval Joseon era in Korea and it is spectacular. The concept, the story, the characters and acting, the makeup for the zombies... it's all absolutely incredible.

Also. Surprisingly good comedy.

I'm a hard sell on the Enemies to Lovers trope, primarily bc colonizers love that shit to whitewash their literal land theft and war crimes.

Seo Bi (lower case? upper case? what is... language) is a talented medic working under the harshest and deadliest of conditions. Young Shin (IMDb spelling) is a child soldier, a survivor, an unwilling experimental warrior in the pursuit of empire's complete domination over all things, including the undead.

Seo Bi chastises him for his cynicism, insisting good morale are as important to healing as the nutrition and treatment she provides. She will have none of his bullshit in the house of healing, and is willing to intimidate him into "understanding."

When they finally come to an understanding, it is when Young Shin "hunts a deer" and makes a broth to feed the starving, injured villagers, completely accepting Seo Bi's assessment. They both survive because they both choose to let the others eat before themselves.

Then, the outbreak.

Seo Bi thinks this is on purpose, having found remnants of her fellow apprentice in the soup. Young Shin shoves back, asking how people were meant to survive without supplies. The answer is as cruel as it is cutting: Neighbors.

Finally, they have to rely on one another. They understand one another. They trust one another as much as the prince and his bodyguard.

This is one tale that wouldn't insult me one bit. She's respected, and he's worthy of it for once.

Someday or One Day is one of my favorite dramas, so I was both excited and wary about this remake. I have to say it doesn't fully capture the unrepeteable magic of the original, but as far as remakes go, this is a really good one. They kept the plot and the characters almost intact, and that's why it works. This story is just really f**king good, so as long as you stick to its essence, there's no way you'll end up with a bad show. This version is a bit more confusing, though, since they had to cut and sum up some stuff to fit everything into 12 one-hour episodes, but it still works. The acting is pretty great too. Jeon Yeo Been pulls off the dual role with ease, and I was pleasantly surprised by Ahn Hyo Seop's performance (although nobody will ever top Alice Ko and Greg Hsu). Tbh, my biggest complaint is the cinematography. This remake looks so bland and lifeless when compared to the original. Anyway, I had fun reliving this story through a slightly different lense, and I think A Time Called You will be immensely loved by k-drama fans who haven't watched the masterful original.
