Where do you get the motivation to make the comics that you do hot damn

Aw, I just really love this fandom, and the show gave us so much to work with that unfortunately, we didn’t get to explore!

I do get kinda burned out sometimes. A pretty bad, 2 month art block finally feels like it’s starting to pass…

Sometimes I get so tired, that I have nothing left in the idea well, and I’m just running in circles by pushing myself. When this happens, I’ll force myself to take a break—sometimes work on other creative endeavors, outside of tumblr. If I don’t step away, I can get stuck in this stupid perfectionist spiral, where nothing I make is satisfying anymore.

I think I’ve just learned over time, what’s a necessary growth road bump to be pushed through, and what’s actually my body, telling me it needs a breather.

But also seeing all the cool art/edits/writing/etc the fandom have done can often inspire me to get back to it! And a ton of motivation comes from reading tags/notes left on my posts or in my ask box! It’s always a nice thing to see—even if I’m creating the stuff that I, myself like seeing—it’s not as though that extra bit of positive feedback doesn’t factor into my motivation level! I’d still create stuff, but probably not nearly as quickly, or as much, before moving onto another interest.

I think the fact that I’ve remained motivated to stay creating in this fandom, speaks a lot to the quality of the show, and the fans. There’s of course some…less than polite ppl, that could treat creators with a bit more kindness (👁️👄👁️). But I’m very lucky in that, I’ve personally, never felt so welcome and included in a space. I luv my buds in the discord Council, who are all constantly bouncing ideas off each other, and hype-man-ing it up. And so many creators whom I respect, will send positive feedback my way. I’ve never had all that before, as a chronic lurker in other fandoms. It’s all just having too much fun to stop!

Also- I actually started drawing when I was little, I usually drew drawings of MLP ponies and some random “cute” cats. I sometimes drew some of my old gacha ocs and since then I became known for a while for my drawings and my “cards” with some drawn cats lol, but that didn't last long, and then I stopped showing my drawings as much because... I just wanted to throw a tantrum? Maybe yeah- I think so-- then it was my friend Mari's(@mari-loly) turn and she got to be the best and most recognized artist in the class. Afterwards my art didn't become so “recognized” anymore, just now a little because I showed it to some new friends of mine and they think I'm very talented, but... It's not the same as before, yk? I'm not someone who has a lot of talent or whatever and people have known me for my art..

Here on Tumblr too, I no longer see myself as “recognized” an artist as I was in the beginning, like- today I have friends who are much better known and have everything they need to be more than just “famous”! So, yeah... *sighs* I miss the time when I didn't post so many fandom things and people knew more about my ocs and talked about them.. I felt happier back then... But that's okay, talking about this won't take me back in time, right? So- yeah, let's just cry--- ^^

Regarding inspirations, I kind of don't remember much if I was ever inspired by anyone.. Maybe Ana (@loscompas-blog-uwu) and Mike (@manpleblog)? Well, when I always see their art I see a great evolution, and I feel the affection they put into their art, so... Yeah, it's my friends who inspire me the most! And like, not just them, I get inspired by others too of course💛 Also- another inspiration I had was Sad-ist, at the time when she was still doing the animations for Dream SMP.. There was no bigger animation star like the ones she did, so... It really inspired me a lot too! Like- an enchanter in animations💖 Oh! and another inspiration that I had at least here- was Zin (@taxolotl), seriously, I really felt very inspired by them, like- I was/am a big fan of their art! So, another inspiration was definitely Zin :]

Some people want a Parents Human Gods AU, Hurt/No Comfort, Childhood friends, no “only one bed” that’s only a few words so they can add their own Love after Loss when they continue the story.

actually in thinking about it, it’s really weird to me that people are taking boston not getting an explicitly happy ending as jojo personally saying that if you sleep around, you should be unhappy forever because like. unhappy endings exist in media all the time, it doesn’t mean the creators are purposefully saying those characters DESERVED for those things to happen to them. and also! are y’all forgetting nick ALSO ended the show sad and alone?? like he was the one to break things off but he was still heartbroken because he loves boston. we didn’t even have him MENTIONED in the last scene. do y’all think jojo is saying that sappy romantics also deserve to be unhappy?? like the math just isn’t mathing here.

Re the Neil Gaiman allegations but it really says a lot about the politics of this website that people care more about gay rep than the wellbeing of women. Major Tumblr darling gets accused of sexual assault and people in his fandoms either immediately jump to "the victims are lying/this is a smear campaign" or continue posting like nothing happened, with only a handful of posts actually dealing with the topic and getting attention. Not even a "let's wait until more details come out but sexual assault is bad". At this point I don't even care if the allegations turn out to be false because the biggest issue here is not the sexual assault, it's the silence of the people around it. This should have been a moment to step back, leave fandoms aside and realize that people are being hurt by his actions but that didn't happen! This was incredibly disappointing, ESPECIALLY after we had a wave of people arguing that you shouldn't buy the wizard game because JKR is transphobic. As always it's easy to cast stones to other people but when it comes to the guy who wrote your fav gay ship suddenly it's a different matter. If you wouldn't do "innocent until proven guilty" for a creator that you dislike who got accused of sa but you do it to Neil Gaiman, then you are willing to excuse despicable behavior as long as it comes from someone you have a parasocial relationship with and you should really think about what it's doing to your own principles and politics.
