hey! for todays protest, i made this little zine about palestine (holding just simple and basic information).
you can download the zine here, fold it yourself, and distribute it around.
no credit is needed. feel free to leave it around bars, protests, or wherever. simply print it (borderless) and fold it. here is a tutorial on how to do it.
dont stay silent. there is a genocide of horrendous, atrocious proportions going on. also if you are a zionist here to argue with me, i dont plan to entertain you at all, not on my art blog. fuck off, you'll be swiftly blocked. i see enough of you clowns on my main and i have no energy for you. you can skip the death threats too bc i dont give a shit.
(i'm off to get ready for a surgery now, i just wanted to post it before this. if you need anything, i might take a bit to reply)

"adhd is the easiest disability to have" “sure plenty of people have adhd but most people are faking” “people are abusing the resources that WE need so that’s why i can’t get my adderall!”
there has been an artificial shortage of all adhd medication for the past 4 years in the US. every investigation into this shortage has returned with the unequivocal result that simply nobody thinks we need it enough to solve the problem.
so they point fingers at the “faker” gaming the system to get adderall who “thinks” they have adhd or is “abusing stimulants to get ahead” for a problem that Our system MANUFACTURED.
so we would be at each others throats instead of realizing that our government and big pharma is to blame for all of this. because their First priority is to punish addicts and to punish folks with adhd and to punish anyone who relies on medication. over everything else. even over profit.

question of the evening, have you considered doing merch? I think your art would look fantastic as stickers or charms especially with your character designs as of late
I cant say I haven’t thought of it! But I’m just not sure if anyone would buy them, and I really hate the idea of wasting resources if they weren’t to be sold haha.

This house is a nightmare and I need to either repair or buy a fridge. I am disabled and neglected by my self-assigned caregiver so my options for affording this are limited.
Opening slots for this commission type to be done as warm ups to my full queue; please send me a message here or email me at [email protected] if you're interested! (If you'd like a different type, you can also email me about that to discuss in advance of a full commission opening)
If you want to buy existing things from me, I have bases, physical goods on Redbubble and INPRNT, and adoptable character designs

The thing I really don't understand about AI in response to search results is what exactly services gain from it. I know just about every tech service is now dipping their hands into training AI programs with the hopes of monetizing it somehow someday, but in the meantime, isn't it like shooting themselves in the foot? The value of search engines isn't just that an answer is put in front of you, it's that people can look through sources themselves and find the information they need or evaluate the veracity of the sources themselves. For websites, it's supposed to be that if you've optimized yourself enough, you'll appear higher in the search results, thus more traffic and potential ad revenue. But if people were to just take the AI results at their word and not click through to anything else, doesn't that tank the value of search engine optimization in the first place? If you're not driving traffic and ad revenue for certain sites, and you're promoting potential garbage to your non-business users, what is the value of your engine? Aren't the people who were paying to have their links placed higher on Google's results pages pissed that, not only are they potentially not getting the traffic they may once have been getting, but the thing they were paying for -- to be at the top of the page, no scrolling necessary -- isn't what they're getting? You have to scroll past all that AI shit, and while you're at it you might as well scroll past all the links marked as ads to the stuff that is there on merit, right? How does any of this make sense?

tbh I'm never going to stop being mad about the Manx syndrome that makes Manx cats manxes. It's an easily, Visually identifiable trait that causes the afflicted animal life long discomfort and mobility issues so severe many need specialized care and equipment to give them a normal life. And that isnt even taking into account how many die as kittens or who need to be put down because they'll never have the minimum quality of life needed to subject them to their difficulties.
there's 2 genes that can cause shortened tails/no tail in cats and while it's debatable how ethical the other one is, due to how important tails are for cat communication, the bobtail Gene is at least not devastating to the animals welfare. Unlike Manx syndrome it just causes the kittens to be born with fewer tail vertebrae. All the other vertebrae are unaffected.
Manx syndrome, in the more severe cases, which to be clear are the breed standard and are considered Desirable, cause the back half of the spine to fail to form correctly. This causes the cats to "hop like bunnies" bc their hind legs are partially paralyzed. they have severe nerve issues bc their spinal cord isn't fully encased in bone like it should be. The paralysis effects their guts too, making many of them incontinent or unable to relieve themselves properly. which leads to chronic UTIs and them needing frequent baths. which, they are cats, they do not like baths.
The main defense of the continued intentional breeding of manxes is that it is a naturally occurring mutation, as in its a landrace breed that initially happened on its own in the feral cat population on the island of mann. "if they were able to survive and reproduce under those conditions then surely it's ok" type of argument. A dominant trait spreading through a feral cat population on a small island that has no predators and plenty of small animal prey to eat, is not a defense. it's the law of large numbers.

Hey wise people of tumblr, in the interest of having resource materials PHYSICALLY available for people to find
what are some actual books on or covering reproductive health that are as current/accurate as possible and that might help a person make thoughtful, informed choices about contraception, pregnancy, etc. and dealing with complications (miscarriage, pregnancy-onset conditions)?
there have got to be some clinic staff or advocates with sources that aren't just websites or similar

btw etsy is doing this incredibly annoying thing that, unless i add tracking to my orders - Which I Do Not Have The Resources To Offer And It Would Increase Shipping Prices Considerably - they're gonna hold on to a third of the money i make from sales for an additional 45 days after :') just because i haven't been using my etsy shop for a while, so it's "suspicious" - even though i HAVE used it in the past and never received complaints about my orders. haha!! what a user friendly platform!!!!!
not to mention all the recommendations like "you know, if you offer free shipping you'll sell better :)" "1-3 days processing time is worse for sales than 1-2 days processing time, you should REALLY CONSIDER going for that one instead :)" "you should add videos of your wares, it'll sell better :)" when i just. i just wanna sell my little pieces of paper i have been drawing on. i just want a convenient and accessible storefront and sell things in a way that is convenient and accesible to me. is it really So Much to ask for
anyway does anyone know if ko-fi store is any better to use? switching to a different storefront may be a hassle but i'm not sure how long my tolerance for etsy's bullshit will last

[BBC is UK State Media]
Adama blames France - which has had 1,500 troops in the region to fight Islamist militants - for the failure to contain the violence. "They can't tell us that the French army was successful," she says. "I don't understand how they can say they're here to help people fight terrorism, and every year the situation gets worse." Niger was seen as the last Western ally in the Sahel, this semi-arid region which has become the epicentre of jihadi violence. France and the US each station troops in Niger, which is also home to the US's biggest drone base. But when France refused to recognise the new military government here, simmering resentment at perceived French interference in Niger's internal affairs boiled over.
Many Nigeriens believe France has had privileged access to the country's political elite and natural resources for too long. They see the coup as a chance for a clean slate, a way to get sovereignty back and be rid of French influence.
"The army has never stayed in power long in Niger," Adama says, referring to the five coups that have rocked the country since its independence from France in 1960. "The military will eventually return to their bases and hand over to a better civilian government that will lead Niger to its destiny," she adds.[...] Outside a military base in Niamey housing French troops, hundreds of protesters have been camped out for weeks, stopping supplies from reaching the personnel there.[...]
"In the whole of the Sahel, Niger is France's best partner." [...] "But it's France that is now refusing to accept what we want and that's why there's tension. "France could have left quietly after the coup and came back to negotiate with the putschists. Why is Emmanuel Macron now saying he doesn't recognise our authorities, when he's accepted coups in other countries like in Gabon and in Chad? "That's what has made us angry and we think France takes us for idiots."[...]
As we jostle for an interview with [the newly appointed governor of Niamey], he points to my producer and tells the crowd: "You see, people say we don't like white people, but we welcome them with open arms." He tells me the people of Niger want a prosperous, proud and sovereign country and that outsiders should respect their will. When I ask if the junta can keep his country safe from terrorists, he replies that Nigerien forces have always protected their people, and can do so without foreign partners. But those opposed to the regime fear the departure of French troops could be disastrous for Niger and the wider region. "In the fight against the terrorists, France is a key partner that provides most of the intelligence that helps us beat the terrorists," Paris-based Idrissa Waziri, a former spokesperson for deposed President Mohamed Bazoum, tells me over Zoom.[...] "France is not the problem, the problem today is this attempted coup which is a significant step backwards for Niger."[...] "Unlike in Mali, the French army played a more supportive role in Niger, helping local troops in a more limited capacity" [Mr Koné, a different analyst] says. "The Nigerien army already had lots of experience fighting terror groups, especially on the eastern front against Boko Haram."[...]
Following a threat by the regional bloc Ecowas that it would invade Niger if deposed President Mohamed Bazoum wasn't reinstated, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger set up an alliance on 16 September. In the Sahel security alliance, they agreed to help each other against armed rebellions and external aggression. Mr Koné thinks this could be a game changer. "The lack of cooperation between the three countries was one of the reasons terror groups could easily cross from one territory into the next," he says. "There's already been two or three joint military operations between these three countries. This increased cooperation is putting real pressure on the insurgents." He also thinks the alliance could help share best practice from Niger to the other two countries.[...]
It's also hard [for us] to gauge how much support President Bazoum has in Niamey. His closeness to the French government has angered many, but we struggled to get any of his supporters, or anyone opposed to the decision to expel France, to speak to us on the record. Most people seemed too scared of the consequences. It didn't help that the junta followed the BBC team's every move in the country, and was aware of what interviewees told us.

Blarggg I'm worried about MH right now :( the series not being renewed is so disheartening, and I feel like none of the dolls since core refresh have really been too exciting to me.... Eekend getaway, good morning ghouls, lagoona+clawdeen sports 2pack..... buried secrets too, though I hesitate to include that one bc I don't want people to think I'm tagging on it solely for being a budget line. None of them are bad dolls at all! They're super cute! But they all feel so similar to each other and they don't have very interesting themes- or at least they aren't utilizing their themes to their fullest potential... It feels like they're just putting out dolls and dolls and dolls and none of them are bringing anything new to the table :')
It makes me worried for the longevity of the line. Parents probably aren't going to want to buy a doll that looks identical to a doll their kid already owns, and honestly most collectors won't either! (And on that note... New characters. Please. I'm not even saying totally new, just use characters other than the main 3!)
I feel like the movie + corresponding doll line was really good for MH G1 because it provided an interesting concept for each line that really made them stand out from one another...
Sigh. I wish we were getting fewer dolls that were each more thoughtfully designed.

Do you sell your pottery anywhere?
Just through the shop of the community arts center I make/work/teach at! Right now it looks like my tumblers and a mug are still there, but I'm not completely sure since the website has been wonky lately. I guess?? They ship? I've only ever bought items in person from there, but you could ask if you're interested!
