Self aware tears in stardew -
Just got a set of headcanons here that started as an idea with @h4wari on discord - just a few headcanons to ease myself back into writing as I start on the raffle prizes!! Just the idea of what if one of the links could find their way into a different game?
[masterlist]
Tumblr media
✦ It started a while after he’s already self aware, having slowly ‘come to his senses’ over the course of you playing TotK. picking up on small details like the quest signs and buttons like the flurry rush prompt.
✦ but… you finished his game, sure you still played it occasionally but not as often as you used to. Leaving him desperate to be with you again. Willing to do anything to be able to hear your voice again.
✦ It isn’t exactly hard for him to get out of the game and into the switch proper, and after that it’s easier again to get onto your wifi and into your pc. It does take him a little bit to poke around in it, to find whatever it was that you abandoned him for. And more importantly find his way into it.
✦ Stardew wasn’t exactly what he expected to find, something this cozy? It’s almost dreamlike to him. But with how many mods there are already? It wasn’t exactly all that hard to make himself a mod to add an NPC - people love TotK anyway, how hard would it be to believe that there is a mod for it?
✦ The painful part is waiting for you to download it, because he knows that installing it himself would give it away to easily.
✦ Thankfully he doesn’t have to wait too long, a few days at most till you get the mod, and your happiness makes it so worth it.
✦ He blends in surprisingly well, having coded himself a small winery similar to the Blue Moon vineyard. Seeing as it’s something he thought would be interesting to do when the game isn’t actively running, and wouldn’t you prefer the expensive gifts?
✦ it’s not quite the same as being with you or having you with him, or even the same feeling as having your control over his body. But he can’t say that having you try to max out his hearts isn’t lovely, he just wishes that there wasn’t still a screen between you.  - There’s only a matter of time until he deals with that though, he'll have you in his arms before you know it

Tips for Choosing the Right Business Diploma Course in Australia
Tumblr media
Australia boasts a thriving business landscape and a business diploma can be your springboard to a fulfilling career in this dynamic field. But with a vast array of courses, selecting the right one can feel overwhelming. Fear not, aspiring business professional! This guide equips you with the essential tips to navigate your options and choose the perfect business diploma course to propel you toward your dream career.
1. Identify Your Interests and Goals
Self-awareness is paramount. Reflect on your natural strengths and areas of genuine interest within the broad business spectrum. Do you envision yourself leading a team, crunching numbers, or crafting marketing campaigns? Business encompasses a multitude of specializations, from accounting and human resources to marketing and entrepreneurship. Research these areas to understand the core skills and daily tasks involved.
2. Consider Your Learning Style
Do you thrive in classroom settings with theoretical discussions, or do you prefer a hands-on approach with practical applications? Business diploma courses in Australia cater to diverse learning styles. Some programs focus heavily on theory, while others integrate work placements or internships, allowing you to gain real-world experience. Choose a course that aligns with your preferred learning method to maximize your engagement and knowledge retention.
3. Research Career Paths and Job Market Demand
While following your passion is crucial, ensuring your chosen field offers viable career options is equally important. Explore job market trends in Australia. The Australian Government's Job Outlook website provides valuable insights into projected growth, salary ranges, and in-demand skills for various business professions. This information can help you align your diploma course with a promising career path.
4. Compare Course Content and Delivery
Once you have a shortlist of potential courses, delve deeper into their specific content. Carefully examine the curriculum to understand the modules covered, the assessment methods employed (exams, projects, presentations), and the program's overall structure. Consider the delivery mode as well. Do you prefer traditional on-campus learning, online flexibility, or a blended approach?
5. Accreditation and Recognition
Accreditation ensures a diploma course meets rigorous quality standards set by recognized educational bodies. Opt for accredited programs, as they are generally more reputable and hold greater weight with potential employers. Additionally, research whether the course aligns with any professional associations relevant to your chosen field. This can grant you an edge in the job market upon graduation.
6. Explore the Institution and its Reputation
The institution delivering the diploma course In Australia significantly influences your learning experience. Research the institution's reputation for business education, faculty expertise, and industry connections. Look for institutions with strong links to potential employers, as this can open doors for internships or job opportunities after graduation.
7. Cost and Financial Considerations
Diploma course fees can vary depending on the institution, location, and course content. Factor in tuition fees, living expenses (if applicable), and any additional costs associated with course materials or placements. Explore scholarship and financial aid options offered by the institution or government agencies to make your diploma education more attainable.
Conclusion
Choosing the right business diploma course is an investment in your future. By following these tips and conducting thorough research, you can confidently select a program that aligns with your interests, learning style, and career aspirations. With the right foundation, you can embark on a rewarding journey in Australia's dynamic business landscape.
Bonus Tip: Don't hesitate to reach out to institutions directly. Many universities and colleges in Australia offer career counseling services or hold information sessions specifically for prospective students. Utilize these resources to gain valuable insights and ask questions to clarify any doubts you may have.

As an internet old(tm) I've seen a lot of online meltdowns and fandom fights. And nearly 100% of the time, there's something else going on in their lives and they're taking it out on strangers because they don't know what else to do. They don't have control in their own life, so they try to grab control elsewhere.
So I'm linking a really good selfcare app that's really soothing in the hope that this will help someone.
Instead of attacking other people, and spending so much energy and emotion on being angry about fanart and strangers, I'm hoping they'll take the time to focus on themselves and get some help.
Calm and AI Friend have also been helpful to me in the past.
Self awareness is key. Mindfulness is important.
Imaginary billionaires and what religion they may or may not celebrate...are not.
Go forth, friends, and breathe.

March 6th, 2019
Alex M. Azar II Secretary U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Scott Gottlieb Commissioner Food and Drug Administration
John Michael Mulvaney Director Office of Management and Budget
Sent via electronic mail
Re:  FDA proposed rule banning electrical stimulation devices
Dear Secretary Azar, Commissioner Gottlieb and Director Mulvaney,
We the undersigned write to express our deep appreciation to see that the final rule for the proposed ban of electrical stimulation devices (ESDs) used to treat self-injurious or aggressive behavior has been placed on the Federal Drug Administration (FDA)’s Fall regulatory agenda. For nearly three years since the FDA initially released its Proposed Rule to ban these devices, and for almost five years since a panel of experts recommended that they be banned, children and adults with disabilities have continued to suffer from painful and dangerous electric shocks. We are relieved that the FDA finally plans to formally recognize what people with disabilities, disability advocates, researchers, psychiatrists and psychologists, families, and the United Nations have long known: these are devices of torture and abuse, and their use must end. We are pleased to see that the agency intends to take action in the coming year to end this abuse.
We further wish to reiterate what we expect from the final rule: a complete, immediate ban of the use of ESDs for behavior modification. In recognition of the severe harm these devices inflict, and in light of the abundant evidence the FDA has reviewed, we do not believe any sort of “phase-down” period or any form of “grandfathering” is warranted. Given the extensive time the FDA has taken to develop the final rule, as detailed below, we urge that it be released in its final form by the 5th anniversary of the panel–April 24th, 2019. Following the issuance of the rule, we expect the FDA to take prompt action to enforce the ban and ensure the safety and well-being of individuals known to have been subject to ESDs. Secretary Azar and Commissioner Gottlieb, we ask that you devote any and all resources necessary to swiftly review comments and finalize the rule with an immediate effective date and no further delays. Additionally, we call on the White House to take all steps necessary to ensure that the rule is expeditiously finalized and released.
As you know, concerned citizens and advocacy organizations first wrote to the FDA in March 2010 and again in January 2013, urging that the FDA ban these dangerous and unnecessary devices. In addition, in December 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a letter making clear that use of the graduated electronic decelerator device, and other Level III aversive techniques, is prohibited for individuals receiving Medicaid-funded home and community-based services. Advocates met with FDA representatives in April 2013. A year later, on April 24, 2014, the FDA held a day-long hearing and convened an advisory panel to seek scientific and clinical expert opinion on the risks and benefits associated with other treatment options, the risks and benefits of ESDs for aversive conditioning, and on whether these devices present a substantial and unreasonable risk of illness or injury.  The FDA additionally solicited public comment, and deliberated for a full two years before announcing on April 22, 2016 that it had determined that these devices present an unreasonable and substantial risk of illness or injury that cannot be corrected or eliminated by labeling. Despite having had multiple public comment periods related to the device, FDA allowed an extension of the comment period on the proposed rule from a deadline of May 25 to July 25, 2016. It has now been over thirty months since that comment period ended.
The FDA is mandated to protect the health and safety of these individuals and must not delay further. We appreciate the swift action the FDA has taken under Commissioner Gottlieb’s leadership on many products which threaten the health and well being of Americans, particularly young people. Just this past month, the FDA warned against the potential dangers of teething necklaces and jewelry productssometimes used by autistic people for sensory regulation. We urge you to treat this matter with the same urgency. In the nine years since this issue was raised to the FDA, some of our nation’s most vulnerable people have been subjected to unbearably painful electric shock for such harmless behaviors as getting out of one’s seat, interrupting, whispering, slouching, swearing, or failing to maintain a neat appearance. As the proposed rule recognizes, disabled children and adults are experiencing dramatic short and long term effects from this abusive treatment every day. They cannot afford to wait any longer. We the undersigned urge HHS and the White House to prioritize and take all actions necessary to ensure this critical rule is immediately finalized and implemented.
If you have any questions about this letter, please contact Julia Bascom of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network at [email protected], or 205-558-4894.

The science of sliminess, the secrets of bones, and mathematicians who took to the air: Books in brief
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Delicate Matter
Tom McLeish Oxford Univ. Press (2020)
Freeze a rose in liquid nitrogen then faucet it with a hammer, and the petals shatter. “Its softness is a operate of its temperature, not simply its molecular constituents and construction,” observes theoretical physicist Tom McLeish, one of many researchers who based ‘soft-matter physics’ within the Nineties. The sphere covers milkiness, sliminess and pearliness in colloids, polymers, liquid crystals, membranes, foams, granular supplies, glasses and gels, and attracts on chemistry and biology. This brief introduction is fascinating, if unusually difficult.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bones
Roy A. Meals W. W. Norton (2020)
Bone is a marvel: lightweight, sturdy, aware of altering situations and self-repairing. However “hardly anyone has ever seen or desires to see dwelling bone, particularly their very own”, writes orthopaedic surgeon Roy Meals in his revealing, generally riveting and finely illustrated investigation, starting from the dinosaurs to as we speak. Therefore, maybe, the confusion over what number of bones people have: though 206 is the extensively accepted determine, it truly varies from individual to individual. Even the variety of ribs can differ, from 24 to 26.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unsustainable Inequalities
Lucas Chancel (transl. Malcolm DeBevoise) Harvard Univ. Press (2020)
When america introduced its withdrawal from the 2015 Paris local weather settlement, its president claimed to be defending US miners’ jobs. How, asks Paris-based economist Lucas Chancel, can the surroundings be protected whereas combating poverty and inequality? His transient and reasonably hopeful international evaluation mentions Sweden, the place poor households get help to switch out of date heating tools, and Indonesia, which swapped massive fossil-fuel subsidies for “an unlimited program of social safety geared toward decreasing inequalities”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Flying Mathematicians of World Battle I
Tony Royle McGill-Queen’s Univ. Press (2020)
The First World Battle was essential to the event of UK aeronautics. Who higher to inform the story than an ex-Royal Air Pressure pilot who’s a educated mathematician, a devoted historian and a energetic author: Tony Royle. His compelling e book is impressed by lecturers who grew to become pilots, akin to physicist Frederick Lindemann — later scientific adviser to Winston Churchill — who experimented with placing an plane right into a deliberate spin, calculating the results after which stabilizing it. Lindemann’s braveness launched a normal spin-recovery process.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A World Beneath the Sands
Toby Wilkinson Picador (2020)
Two anniversaries method: of the deciphering of Egyptian hieroglyphs in 1822 and the invention of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. Egyptologist Toby Wilkinson’s e book addresses the intervening century, when Western archaeologists and imperialists scrambled to excavate historical Egypt’s civilization and procure treasures for collections overseas. He tells the story nicely, with consideration to each scholarship and scandal. After 1922, he says, “in embracing scientific rigour, Egyptology would lose its panache”.

Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, from Math 121 Clark Univ.
[Feynman] "Do you know calculus?"
[Wouk] "I admitted that I didn't"
[Feynman] "You had better learn it...It's the language God talks."
Herman Wouk, converstion with Richard Feynman in The Language God Talks, p.5
"What is your number?" My grandson, Gabriel (age 2), on meeting someone.
"If you ask how such things can occur, seek the answer in God’s grace, not in doctrine; in the longing of the will, not in the understanding; in the sighs of prayer, not in research; seek the bridegroom not the teacher; God and not man " St. Bonaventure, The Journey of the Mind to God.
IS REALITY ALTOGETHER MATHEMATICAL?
In his very fine book, Is God a Mathematician?, Mario Livio gives a good history of mathematics and its foundational applications to science.  He also discusses whether mathematics is a Platonic ideal or is a construction of the human mind -- i.e. is mathematics "discovered" or "invented"? But he does not address the question posed in his title, which I propose to do in this post.  I'll also discuss some related arguments by physicists and philosophers that reality is mathematics (see references).
Now it goes without saying (although I will say it), that if God is omniscient, he knows everything and therefore, perforce, must know all mathematics. These propositions do not, however, require that reality is altogether mathematical, as suggested by Max Tegmark in his book, Our Mathematical Universe.  If reality is altogether mathematical, then everything can be quantified, represented by numbers or properties that can put into correspondence with numbers.  Is this so?
I invite the reader to suggest things that cannot be quantified by numbers.  Here's my list of a few such:
self-awareness, consciousness ("Cogito, ergo sum")
moments of communion with God, The Holy Spirit, Jesus
love of another
shame
anger
pain
happiness
joy
feelings aroused by nature
feelings aroused by music
feelings aroused by intellectual discovery
the literary excellence of a poem, a short story, a novel
boredom on reading blog posts dealing with the reality of mathematics
etc...
Now psychologists might say that most, if not all of the above can be quantified: just use the simple 1-5 scale as, in satisfaction response surveys. I claim that, unlike measuring the mass of a steel ball or its radius, such a procedure would not yield a universal measurement -- one person's "2" might well be another person's "4".  The qualia referred to in the above items are non-quantifiable, in the sense that a universally applicable measurement cannot be applied.
Let's explore just one of the above in more detail--feelings aroused by music.  In another post, God's Gift to Man -- the Transforming Power of Music, I've discussed the emotional and spiritual impact music has had on me, an effect which cannot be explained by mathematical relationships. The Pythagorean harmonies have no place in the dissonances of Bartok, Berlioz or even Mozart (Symphony #40, the Great G - Minor.
The inability of computation -- mathematics -- to emulate musical creativity is illustrated in a science-fiction story by James Blish, "A Work of Art".  In this tale "mind sculptors" of the future install a recreation of Richard Strauss in a non-musical volunteer.   The volunteer thinks of himself as a resurrected Strauss, composes an opera, and then realizes it uses old musical devices and is not creative.  At the concert in which the work is premiered, the volunteer knows that the resounding applause is for the mind sculptors, not for his musical work.
I AM NOT A NUMBER!" (Number 6, in "The Prisoner")
Let's turn to consciousness/self-awareness as an attribute of mathematical reality. Is the brain a "meat computer"-- can consciousness/self-awareness be programmed? In other words, does the self-aware brain operate by algorithms?
The eminent mathematical physicist, Roger Penrose, has said no to this proposition in three books: "The Emperor's New Mind", "Shadows of the Mind", and "The Large, the Small, and Human Consciousness".  Penrose demonstrates, using Godel's Incompleteness Theorem and Turing's Halting Theorem, that the human can know the truth of a mathematical theorem even when a computer can not.
In "Shadows of the Mind" he gives four types of belief or non-belief in the possibility of Artificial Intelligence (AI), that self-aware intelligence can be programmed by some set of algorithms:
Consciousness is reducible to computation (the view of strong - AI proponents);
Consciousness can be simulated by a computer, but the simulation couldn't produce "real understanding" (John Searle's view);
Consciousness can't even be simulated by computer, but nevertheless has a scientific explanation (Penrose's own view)
Consciousness doesn't have a scientific explanation at all (the view of Thomas Nagel --see Mind and Cosmos)
Penrose is looking to a theory of quantum gravity to explain consciousness, The philosopher John Searle posits, as does Penrose, that consciousness has a scientific explanation , but that it will be an explanation in which consciousness is an "emergent" property of the brain's biochemistry and biophysics, much as wetness can be explained by theories of surface tension for water.  I have discussed Nagel's views (with links to other discussions) in the post which is linked to above.
A quantum computer (i.e. a scientist engaged in quantum computation), Scott Aaronson, has given an amusing and almost-convincing critique of Penrose's thesis in one of his Physics Lectures.  Some of his criticisms can be answered, particularly the one dealing with the Libet experiment, but I don't propose to engage that discussion here.  The critique relies primarily on two features: the activities of the mind are finite, not infinite; a computer which would be allowed to make mistakes would not be bound by Goedel's Theorem.
Finally, note that Max Tegmark does not show in "Our Mathematical Universe" how consciousness can be explained as a mathematical phenomenon.  He claims that this will be done in the future, but that seems to me very much like a scientism of the gaps.
IS MATHEMATICS QUASI-EMPIRICAL?
If mathematics (maybe I should upper-case that?) is to be the end - all and be - all of what is, then it seems reasonable to suppose that mathematics is complete in itself --there are no loose ends.  A primitive view of Goedel's and Turing's theorems suggest that this is not so.  The computer philosopher Gregory Chaitin reinforces this opinion in his books "The Limits of Mathematics" and "The Unknowable":
"What I think it all means is that mathematic is different from physics, but it's not that different. I think that math is quasi-empirical.  It's different from physics, but it's more a matter of degree than an all or nothing difference. I don't think mathematicians have a direct pipeline to God's thoughts, to absolute truth, while physics must always remain tentative and subject to revision [emphasis added]. Yes math is less tentative than physics, but they're both in the same boat, because they're both human activities, and to err is human." Gregory Chaitin, The Unknowable, pp 26-27
MY TAKE
I view mathematics, logic, reason as the foundations and the framework of the building in which we live.  There are essential additions--faith, religion, beauty, love, ... -- which are non-mathematical and above the bounds of logic.  As Pope St. John Paul II, said.
"Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth — in a word, to know himself — so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves" Pope St. John Paul II, Fides et Ratio.
So my answer to the question in the title is, God is much more than a mathematician.
*I've gone back to my Jewish roots, inverted the title of a very good book, "Is God a Mathematician?" by Mario Livio, to make it a declarative sentence in form, but still a question (imagine a rising inflection at the end, as with a Yiddish or Pennsylvania Dutch accent); I've put one of the few Yiddish phrases I remember at the end.  If you don't know what "oy vey" means, I'll have to ask "what planet are you from?"

Being a top student at university
Tumblr media
This post is based on my (and my friends) experience (second year student; sophomore).
I haven’t double-checked it, so I suppose there would be some mistakes. I miss articles all the time, sorry.
1. First year is the most important
Show your professors your capabilities. Let professors get to know you, their opinion will be significant later. Slog your guts out, get the best marks, show them you really care and you are intrigued in what they say. Later on if the next year/term is tougher or you are be able to fully focus on your education, professors will look kindly on you, they won’t be so strict, so your marks won’t be much lower.
2. Luck
Believe me, we are not always fully prepared. Sometimes our knowledge is incomplete because we don’t had enough time to learn, the topic XYZ is so shitty that we simply don’t get part of it. It happens that we have to count on our luck. The final test is coming in a few hours and you still know nothing about ABC or XYZ. You don’t have enough time and you know you won’t get it in half of an hour. Fuck this, fuck that – you hope you will be able to answer a questions. You’ve got nothing to lose, joke that it would be nice, if you got a question about QWE. If the professor knows you, remembers you and is aware of your knowledge, there is a huge possibility you’ll get this question.
3. Talk to people before your final exams
It’s partly connected with “Luck”. Talk to people who already had their finals (not only to your peers but also to older students). It’s not about questions, because you won’t get the same ones, that’s for sure. It’s more about getting to know the professor’s way of thinking, asking questions, choosing topics. Ask people how much you need to write/say in order to get a good mark. Ask people what topics are professor’s favourite, what do you need to know, how to impress them. Mark down what questions did your friends/other students get – learn them if you know that this professor likes to ask the same thing, pay less attention if you know they like to change them. But never left them aside, you have to know at least part of the answer to be save.
4. Know your professors
The continuation of “Luck”. Knowing your professors helps you a lot during preparing for tests, exams, finals etc. Give yourself a term or two to find out information about professors – what topics are their beloved, what kind of questions are most common, what kind of answers are they expect, how much you need to know.
5. Don’t be afraid of professors
Treat them like normal people, not someone who will fail you at your first exam. You can talk to them not only about studies – some of them are really interested in your life outside the uni (even my biggest fear – my phonetics professor – used to ask people why they had been absent and he was genuinely interested in it). I’m probably going to a concert with my professor, sometimes we smoke cigarettes with them, they give us medical pieces of advice – they are not monsters. Of course some of them have sticks in their asses and you have to treat them with much bigger respect. But remember – you’re a student. Don’t be unrespectful even if your professor is a great guy. Tell something shitty and you’re fucked up for the rest of your student life (it means – till the end of the term, because they definitely won’t let you pass).
6. Panic
*3 A.M., Facebook* A: FUCK, I KNOW NOTHING B: ME TOO, WE’RE NOT GOING TO PASS A: We can commit a suicide, that’s the only option B: I find this red bridge quite appealing…
Yes, we panic. A lot. Sometimes we’re so stressed we have to phone someone and talk to them for a longer while in order to calm down and continue to learn. Why? Because we had no idea how much we need to study, because we thought that 2 days of non-stop learning is enough (ups, it’s not!), because it turned out you don’t have this one important thing in your notes. Shit, shit, shit! But, man, calm down, you know you’re not the worst student at uni, you have some knowledge so you say/write something during an exam. So get back to work! Take deep breath, call your friends, check Facebook, Tumblr or whatever if it helps you. Then try to take a look at your notes once again. Step by step and you’re going to know more and more.
7.“I give up”
It’s a common phrase during preparations to exam session. You look at your notes with watery eyes and you say “I give up, I won’t learn anything more”. Take a longer break then, if you feel like a shit – an hour or two. Go to sleep, eat something, play your favourite video game, message your friends. Then go back to your notes. If it really seems like you won’t make any progress, don’t force yourself, focus on sth else, maybe later on you’ll try to revise this “little shit” once more. If it’s still too demanding – leave it. You only get more stressed and panic is your biggest enemy. Remember you still remember sth, it’s not like you’re totally unprepared!
8. Help others…
If somebody asks you about notes (because they were absent or sth), don’t hesitate giving them. You don’t know when you will need their help. Groups of your uni on FB where you can share and find information are also helpful – notes, example questions, links to PDF books or scripts etc.
9. …But don’t be a saint!
Hearing for the 5th time “Hey, can I copy your notes?” makes me furious. I’m willing to help, give notes, talk about previous lectures if this person was absent, had difficulty in understanding the topic or what was the professor saying. But I just can’t stand people who are not attending any classes because it’s too early, because the topic is boring, because they prefer to scroll Instagram etc. Don’t let other people preying on you. They probably won’t help you as much as you did.
10. People you can count on
Sometimes it’s hard to make friends during your first year at uni but try to do a kind of research… After first tests find out who has quite good marks. If you’re absent, you have no idea what’s going on and this lecture is totally not your cup of tea, ask them for help. But don’t be a dick! Constantly borrowing notes and asking for help is annoying. And please, don’t pretend friendship with this person if you don’t like them that much. You don’t have to love each other, go for a beer every Friday, gossip about others – if you’re nice to this person (and vice versa), you talk to them for a while at uni and of course you’re also willing to help them, it’s a good relation. Borrowing notes depends on a subject – XYZ I take from my best friend, ABC from the girl to whom I talk only at lectures and RSQ.
11. Attend classes
Doesn’t matter how boring they are, doesn’t matter how much you hate this professor – please, attend classes. First of all sit always closer to the lecturer (but don’t be obtrusive), participate in it, say something related to the topic, do your best not to miss classes. Professors will remember you, they’re going to think you’re be the best student at whole uni and your finals will be a little bit easier. Sometimes professors, if they know you’re always prepared, you’re coming even at 8 A.M. lecture and this subject is rather facultative, can give you a mark without any exam.
12. “Start learning at least a month before your final exam…”
Yeah. I’ve never done that.
Of course it would be much better to start learning earlier but it’s often impossible to do. You’ve got so many homework, presentations, tests and essay so you simply don’t have enough time (and motivation) to think about finals. One term in two days is not something uncommon even (or maybe especially?) when it comes to top students. But our advantage are: attending classes, listening to professors, being genuinely interested in the subject.
13. Presentations, essays and long-term projects
Start doing them as soon as you can. Step by step, you don’t have to make them in one night, your deadline is far away… It’s a big comfort, doesn’t give a single fuck about deadlines. Of course, sometimes you don’t make it on time and you have to pull an all-nighter, but it rarely happens when you start do this earlier.
14. Motivation
You can talk about this whole self-development, showing people you’re worth something more, dreams coming true but at uni you do it just for…
Money.
My scholarship is the only reason for learning that much. If not for my scholarship I wouldn’t pay any attention to subjects which are completely useless outside the uni.
15. Sleepless nights
We pull an all-nighter before our exams, it’s nothing uncommon. Sometimes we get 3 hours of sleep, sometimes 30 minutes. But do it once, not every night, because you won’t learn anything. And if you do this just before your exam, try to get at least 2h of sleep – you’re going to organize your studying during sleep. I usually remember more then, I find connections between facts faster.
16. Naps
They are your friends, not enemies. Just a 30-60 minutes nap will make you more lively, you will get more energy to study. Before my exams I take 30 minutes naps, twice a day. You’ll learn more and faster. Not having a nap is awful to me, because I feel so tired, so exhausted that I don’t know what’s going on around me for 2-3 hours.
17. Balanced diet
Instant soups, energy drinks, coffee, sweets – it was my special diet during the exam session. And it worked – for 3 days. Then my body gave up and I had to go back to normal food. Try to eat homemade dinners, don’t skip breakfasts – that’s the most important one. You won’t get rid of coffee (or energy drinks in my case), because it helps you to stay alive. If you can, eat something sweet – sugar also resurrects you.
18. An exam next day? Alcohol!
Don’t ever look at your notes just before your finals. You’re going to panic, you’re going to get disorganized. It’s better to do something you like. Before every exam I would for instance go to the concert, for a beer with my friends, watch a movie or play stupid games. It’s your time and university has no right to disturb you. Forget for a while how much you need to learn.
19. Party?
Yes, top students party and drink a lot, believe me. Vodka and beer are your double-faced friends.

Note
i am really confused with everything right now,
i dont know what to choose, i want to choose a method to enter void, 1st method is visualising being in void and falling asleep (sats),
2nd method is affirming i always wake up in the void aware and falling asleep(lullaby),
which method will i have success on?
Free Psychic Reading By Crystal Ball! (7$ PAID READINGS ARE ALSO OPENED!) 🔮✨
🔮 The Spiral Galaxy – I see a swirling galaxy, representing the vastness and complexity of your mind. This symbolizes your current feelings of confusion and the multiple paths available to you. It suggests that both methods hold potential for you, but it’s essential to find the one that resonates most deeply with your inner self. 🌌💫
🌈 The Two Paths Diverging – I notice two distinct paths branching out from each other. One path is illuminated with bright colors, representing the visualizing method, while the other is a softer, more calming hue, representing the affirming method. This indicates that both methods can lead to success, but you may find one feels more natural or intuitive than the other. 🌈✨
🌟 The Open Door – An open door appears, inviting you to explore new possibilities. This suggests that regardless of the method you choose, you have the ability to shift into the void state. The key is to stay open-minded and trust your instincts as you try different approaches. 🚪🌟
✨ Summary ✨ – Both methods have the potential for success, but the spiral galaxy suggests you might benefit from experimenting with both and seeing which feels more aligned with you. Trust your intuition and remember that your journey is unique. 🌌💖🌈

Hey guys! Welcome back to Roseconnexa!
Newbae’s??? Hey hunny!
Wishing everyone a great rest of the week! xo
It’s Wednesday aka #WCW. But instead of doing a regular #WCW post; I’ve decided to dedicate a post for a #BossBabe.
She’s more than a crush, she’s the real thing. She’s a woman making moves, making money. Whether it’s science, business, beauty or whatever else… you can find it in our #BossBabe.
I’ve known my first official #BossBabe for many years. She became my little sister one day at volleyball camp (in high school). We’ve been family ever since. We haven’t  lived in different cities since graduating high school. But that hasn’t stop us from reuniting from time to time.
I’ve literally seen her grow up unto this beautiful and unstoppable woman. So, it wasn’t hard for me to choose my very first feature for #BossBabe.
So, let’s get it into…
Thank you for joining me Kan. You are my first #BossBabe! Yay!
Tell the readers a little bit about yourself?
No, Thank you Troi! The pleasure is all mine to be apart of such an amazing body of work.
My name is Kanecia, but most know me by Kan!
My instagram is @KanBNB the BNB standing for my brand Beauty and Bundles. A hair company servicing my local area in bundles and custom wig units. I created BNB in 2016 as quick way to start money; that has now evolved into me working with a larger hair brand and other collaborative beauty projects.
Furthermore, I am 23 years old, an original Florida girl to my core lol.
I currently reside in the beautiful city of Tampa, Fl; where I received my Bachelors in Finance from the Univ. of South Florida.
While maintaining my beauty side of business; I also am pursuing my professional career full time in Real Estate. I recently made the change from corporate life to real estate and I couldn’t be more happy with my journey. The shift to real estate has awoken the entrepreneur spirit in me and I am making strides to secure the future of my dreams on MY TERMS! (Which is ultimately the best part)
What is your mission statement? Or what do you want your legacy to be?
Ever since I was a teenager or maybe even younger I’ve always told myself “Live life with no regrets” it’s been my motto and although is been super hard to use at times, especially when life is hitting hard, it couldn’t be more liberating. The basis of it whether I knew back then was that it means never to doubt yourself and the choices you make no they may not be perfect but they are the ones you have to live with and with that mind I always find a way to forgive myself and move forward, with no REGRETS holding me back!
I hope my legacy is revolved around love, loving yourself, loving others, loving this world. And the power of the love to evoke change in others lives! (Period! Lol)
I love you wigs and all the things that you do to hair girl. What inspired you to start your own wig business?
Honestly, I’ve always like doing my own hair. Me and my best friend growing up would spend hours in the bathroom literally straightening our hair just to curl it right back lol! And in 2016, after my graduation I had no job and a little tight on funds so I made my own wig to save money, then I made a few for close friends for just 30-40 bucks, then their friends and coworkers started asking I started posting to wigs and then I started my IG Page Beauty & Bundles and the rest is history!!
What has and has not worked for your business? Do you have any tips on starting up a business?
Whew Chile! The list goes on and on when it comes to a successful business, but for time sake I’ll keep it short lol. Plain and simple ladies and gents! You have to be consistent and diligent! Consistency  brings the revenue, but being diligent means you’re managing your orders, your customer responses, your business goals etc. effectively which sets you apart from your competitors.
Who is your biggest influence? And why?
Oouu this one is hard, I honestly don’t have one influence nor would I say my biggest influences are famous people! Actually it’s my friends (like you!) who really inspire me because they are the closes they let me know a girl from a small town can keep going can keep pushing!
What is the one item that you can’t live without? And why?
Lol, this is pretty tragic but I can’t live with out face cleanser I’m obsessed with skin care and I need to be able to wash away the day!
What is the best advice you ever received?
Best advice I ever got was to love myself and believe in myself not what people think of me but what I think, love and believe of my self only! And that will and has brought me the some of the best happiness ever!
What is your #1 beauty secret?
My best beauty secret is actually no a secret but more of a mindset that will have you looking like the best gal in the room! It’s CONFIDENCE! It’s the one beauty secret that people don’t always point out but always knocks them dead, if your confident and you walk with stride baby your GORGEOUS!!
Ahh, Kan! Thank you again! You are truly a #BossBabe. You inspire me and many more.
You can follow Kan on Instagram @Kanbnb
Her instagram is hella cute. Her style is super bomb and that hair though!!!

Narcissistic Personality Disorder
When a friend of mine mentioned the symptoms of this disorder, I knew it related to me, but I was not ready to face it.
I started doing research on NPD today because...why? Oh yes, when I was scrolling down Facebok, one video popped up. It was by someone (Dr. Brown?) who has produced research on vulnerability. In it, she discussed how guilt and shame differed. The word “shame” attracted my attention. I looked up the difference and found that shame was related to how other people perceive oneself. I read on and found a link to a page detailing NPD.
People with NPD center their consciousness around themselves and their almost sole interest lies in receiving affirmation from others. Thus, they often see others merely as instruments to feed their self-esteem, and can show manipulative behavior to control others.
People with NPD tend to believe themselves to be special and can only be understood by people of special quality or institution. By associating with these “special” people, their self-esteem is fed. They have a great difficulty accepting criticisms from others, and tend to avoid making efforts because they cannot stand being pointed out their weakness.
I believe NPD is manifested in many of my behavior and psyche. Inferiority is much more than a key concept to understand my life than I thought, based on this theory.
When I was in primary school, some peers bullied me. Why? Now I believe it was because I did not have an interest in others. I was only interested in myself, my ability to be affirmed, and my self to be affirmed. I had a difficult time developing a genuine interest in other people. Only later, probably in college, is when I learned what it meant to be interested in other people. The first person I can think of Haenah, but what I recall about her is that she kept telling me I am interesting, and I found her interesting because I was found interesting to her.
In middle school, tough time continued. I still did not have an intest in others. I just so cared about how other kids saw me, especially how other girls saw me. Almost all behavioral code was configurated for this aim: for example, I would try to buy belts that are similar to other cool boys, to hang out with them to get into their peer group, and to have conversations with a girl I liked. I was only nodding and affirming what she was saying and providing useful information according to her needs as opposed to expressing my emotions or telling them what I am because I was only looking for her liking me back and nothing else.
My attempt to gain her affection failed, while being a ping pong club leader. I totally saw my teammates as nothing but an instrument for team victory. I contantly pressured them to practice in the evenings and on weekends, and always told them they should be better at some skills. I did not respect their own wills. But I always wanted them to think I am amazing at everything, from academics, ping pong and leadership. Yet truthfully, I was not so strong for ping pong. Although I beat some, I wasn’t as amazing as I wished they believed. However, I perheps tried to make myself look away from this fact and only kept the nice-sounding legand of “I can do everything.” In fact, at the Kinki tournament following my individual match defeat, I refused to go to Kinki to support Daichi, who was a better player in my club. All I cared was receiving affirmation from others and ping pong was an instrument for that, so going to Daichi’s match for support would show that I am a loser, and I am not as special as him. I was so jealous of him because he was popular among girls, really good with peers. I wanted to gain a crazy amount of affirmation to maybe win over this jealousy, but I was not able to do that. In fact, I did not make as much effort as I could, for a reason I do not know.
In high school, I always thought I was a special kid and did not want to associate myself with classmates unless they are super smart or strong ping pong players. Cute girls were of course exceptions. What was common among the people I associated with was their affirmation for me. Smart kids would always see me as a rival and I was able to feel like I was beating the special kids, which would make me feel special. I was studying for Kyoto Univ. because I wanted to feel special (or higher).
At that time my academic identity, or an academic source of my affirmation for self-esteem was English. I studied English super hard becaues I was able to gain self-esteem boost b/c of the affirmation. Then comes the opportunity to study abroad in Australia. I somehow got in (seriously, somehow. I had no particular background but just a passion to really go to australia for free), and met these special people that feed my self-esteem. I was nothing but because of the “study-abroad-high”, I was praised by some local asian kids and I was so happy. I started associating myself with them, along with the super smart Kenta, who later goes to Yale.
After my return to Japan, these ISS people relaced my smart kids/ping pong athleats. These “special cool kids” have taken over my mind in that I always wanted to be someone, someone that can gain affirmation from them. Thus, I started thinking about studying abroad in Australia.
Although I gave up on this aim, I then found a cool intellectual ALT as a gataway to the ISS “special” kids. I practiced English and sort of looking down on other friends, or anyone, who don’t speak good English, because they aren’t the “special, cool” kids. I only looked for the affirmation from the special kids because that is how my self-esteem is constructed. My self-esteem is a glass with a scar that is constantly losing its wine, and the refill must always be the newly branded, exquisite wine.
I continued to study for Kyoto univ., and my motivation continued thanks to the presense of peers who always affirmed me by asking me questions. I loved feeling smarter than them every time they asked me these questions. This might be why I like teaching.
Aiko sent me an email (my special friend), which I always open with excitement, which eventually takes me to USHSD program. I applied because I wanted to get closer to the ISS special kids, gain more English skills and find amazing special people I can associate myself with to boost my self-esteem. I did.
I met these super nice kids that are eager to affirm me for my English fluency. They liked me for who I am, because obvisouly I was showing respect to them because they are the “special” kids to me. Behind it is a sense of inferiority that discourages myself from showing who I am. But Hayes definitely helped me open up a little, but I don’t believe I was vulnerable and opened up my inconfidence (well, I was unaware of the lack of confidece at that time). Needless to say, I disrespected the adult shaprons and other Japanese kids for their inferior skills to speak English. I took no criticism from the adults seriouslly, rejcting them as stupid, not smart, “not speciall”=thus not worth listening, people.
Anyhow, next, these USHSD American kids were added to my list of special kids, and I learn about Wesleyan and the possibility of studying at US college. I then associated myself with an ALT more closely because of his background in US diploma. I went to him everyday. I quit ping pong club before this because ping pong ceased to be a “cool” source of my affirmation. I studied really hard because I really really wanted to be closer to the special kids, so that I can be affirmed more.
I got into wesleyan. I was thrilled but I did not really listen to people who had views that are opposed or unknown to mine. I was simply not interested. I was merely interested in myself mattering. I was only interested in gaining affirmation from others for me, thus I avoided sensitive discussions and tried to show how unique I am on campus. That is perhaps why I wanted to practice ki, practice spiritual writing, everything else. I just wanted to associate myself with the special kids.
“Higher” was what I definitely liked, although the measure is very elementary because it is unidirectional. Smarter was always key until high school, but more spiritual and smart have become my key. However, the most important criteria that I used to evaluate people was how much they endorse my opinion and who I am. Yusaku, for example, often provided me with critical comments on my thoughts, which I believe were intellectually helpful but I refused to accept or even listen to him. I often evaded discussions with him because of my fear of losing self-esteem to the criticism.
Now I feel that the reason I did not commit to CSS was that I was afraid of losing my self-esteem boost. First I was looking at people like Han-Hsien and Ka Ya as “special” kids, and was trying to associate myself with them, but I gave it up because I was so afraid of all the criticisms and feel so weak in the classrooms. But at the same time, I was also aware that I did not want to always read and write; I wanted to work with peers on extracurricular activities and hang out with them. After all, I did not care too much about really rigorous academic discussions. I didn’t love them because it is so tiring yet did not feel so rewarding.
After dropping CSS, I was at a loss. I took a philosophy class but I did not commit too much because it wasn’t the “cool, special” thing anymore. I tried to do nuclear program thingy but didn’t do it too much because I wasn’t able to believe in the cause too much. It wasn’t as special as I wished.
I then felt at a loss. I kept hanging out with Kotaro, who was my new special cool kid. He was critical of CSS and academia, while buildling his own philosophy and an interest in Japan, which had a potential for making myself unique in the environment. I kept this bond with him and eventually joined his tutorial course, for which I didn’t really contribute to.
My girlfriend chronicle doesn’t seem to be related to my NPD. Maybe, because I went for a young Japanese girl whose experience and knowledge of US campus life I can win over easily and I have a high possibility of gaining affirmation from her for my mixture of Japaneseness and US life anecdotes, plus having a status of being a senior and have lots of friends.
I then, reconnected with Takeuchi-sensei, and he was probably pretty special because he understood me, he affirmed my self-esteem because he know what I was associating myself with. His words of compliments were so effective that I was drawn to him. It was definitely helpful to work with him as I was able to build publication portfolio.
I graduated, and went back to Japan because 1) I didn’t believe I was able to gain much affirmation from US society and 2) I wanted to do something about problems facing Japan. I also missed being in a home country, too.
My whole life has been an temporary seeking of self-esteem feed.
I am so glad I realized this, because I have definitely harrassed some people I have met along my journey: Jimmy, Marianna, Zoe, Sarasa, Grad students, high school friends, some teachers in high school, my previous boss...
Can I live without seeking for affirmation and association with special people?
If I can, what are some things I would genuinely want to do?
Were the strong sensations I felt on my visists to schools and children’s institutuions unreal? What were they, why was I intrigued? Why was I fascinated? Why?
Measurement of specialness was:
Primary school: grades
Middle school: grades and ping pong
early High school: grades& ping pong
late High school: ISS, USHSD kids and ALT
college: freeman, CSS, having a girlfriend status, being a thinker of Japan
After: Having a Wesleyan degree.
When I am writing in English, inner voice tells me, “why the heck are you living in Japan, where your English skills aren’t put in use?”

The Spiritual Meanings Behind Physical Aches, Pains And Sicknesses
The signs and symptoms that are apparent on the Physical plane lead us to inquire, ultimately, more deeply into ourselves as energetic and spiritual beings.
We tend not to worry too much about this sort of thing when our body is working well, we are not feeling pain, or we are not in the throes of some chronic disease. But when our body feels pain or becomes disabled by disease or accident we tend to start reaching out for answers. We want to know why. Or maybe we don’t even want to know why we just want to fix something we perceive is broken.
Realistically, when our body refuses to do what we want it to, metaphysically, it is not actually broken. It is doing its job. One of its functions is to carry messages from the higher energetic planes to us. It is then up to us to interpret these messages and take action.
Western medicine takes the position that we feel pain because we can. Western approaches to pain, as the main symptom of any disease, are pretty much limited to drugs and surgery. Treatment consists of numbing or diverting pain receptors in the body or cutting off the offending organ. While this approach does have its place in acute situations, it is at best a temporary and often harmful way to approach pain or other disharmonies we feel in our bodies. Most often, western medicine has little to offer most of us and incredibly makes us wait until our symptoms become unbearably acute before it can even acknowledge a disharmony.
The trend today, as much for economic reasons, as for reasons of spirit and human development is to encourage people to take responsibility for their own lives. This is the approach of ancient wisdom. We use our bodies to communicate with our selves and with others. We use our bodies to work out emotional, mental and spiritual questions. While we do tend to judge a diseased body negatively, there really is no right or wrong about it.
The ancient Taoists theorized that good and bad, right and wrong, yin and yang, were just different points of view that we all adopt at one time or another. Because the earth plane is dualistic in nature we all view, at one time or another from both the Yin and the Yang ends of the telescope. There does not seem to be a point in judging one good and one bad or judging one good and one evil. These just are the symptoms of being human.
Still, there is such a thing as being well, and there is such a thing as being sick. When we get sick we tend to want to do something about it.
Enter the healer.
A healer is trained in the observation and interpretation of signs and symptoms, and in methods for dealing with them.
Wholistic Healing of the individual occurs at different energetic levels. These are the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. For those on the path, there are a great many more levels and sublevels identified in various cultural, religious and philosophical traditions. But for our purposes we can look at the individual in these four broad realms to at least begin the process of healing.
Healing by the way occurs not only at the individual level, but also at the family, community and global level. When one heals ‘mindfully’, as the Buddhists say, these other aspects of individual healing may become apparent.
There are healers operating today at all these levels. Still, a good place to begin is in the individual body. With this in mind, the following is a list of physical symptoms and the metaphysical disharmonies they may reflect.
Louise Hay, in her book, ‘You Can Heal Your Life,’ has done some interesting work in this area. I use her book occasionally in my Reiki II work. Other references are; Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic principals, my own Reiki teacher, Denise Crundall, and my own experience.
Please note that these are only general observations, serving hopefully to illuminate areas that you can look at more closely in yourself or with the help of a healer. You are the one who knows you best. As you go through these observations, try to expand your awareness beyond your own life to see also how these disharmonies are reflected in your own family, community, country and in the world. Ultimately it is our own choice to heal or not to heal and it is our own innate healing ability that is activated.
Head
Headaches; Pain always indicates a separation of some sort from something. Usually we say separation from what is the Truth. The greater the pain the more important that something is. Depending on which part of the head is afflicted the meaning changes. Louise Hay suggests that Headaches indicate invalidating the Self out of Fear. In Chinese Medicine there are several different kinds of headaches according to the quality of the pain and the location on the head. Read on.
Vertex; The top of the head is associated with our connection to the Universe or God. Pain here is associated with separation from that higher power. It is also associated with the Kidneys and the emotion is Fear. Both the Gallbladder and Urinary Bladder channels traverse the top of the head. The Gallbladder is associated with Courage, and the Urinary Bladder through its associate with the Kidneys is associated with Fear. Du 20 (Baihui) located at the top of the head is used extensively to ‘calm the spirit’ in Chinese Medicine.
Forehead; The forehead is associated with the 3rd eye, both in Chakra Theory and Traditional Chinese Medical theory. The 3rd eye is associated with introspection and illumination of your own Inner Being. Pain here is associated with separation from your own Inner Being. In Chinese Medicine, Yintang, which is located midway between the inner ends of the eyebrows, Du 23 (Shangxing), Du 24 ( Shenting) which are located at the hairline directly above Yintang and Du 20 (Baihui) located at the top of the head, all have the action of ‘calming the spirit.’ Yintang is associated with the eyes; not only the eyes that look outward but the eyes that look inward and is indicated in some emotional disorders.
Temporal; The sides of the head are associated with courage, especially courage to face your world. Migraine Headaches, usually located in the front quadrants, right or left, indicates a separation from your world. The involvement of the eyes in Migraines indicate not only an unwillingness to look without, but to look within. Most Migraine sufferers report, not only severe pain behind the eye, but also acute sensitivity to light. In Chinese Medicine, a number of Meridians run through this area. The Gallbladder Channel is associated with courage. The San Jiao channel is involved with processing of water (the elixir of Life), and the Small Intestine Channel is involved with deriving nourishment from the world. Both the San Jiao Channel and the Small Intestine Channel are connected to the Heart, whose emotion is Joy and where the Mind is located. Lack of Joy (with one’s self) is strongly indicated by pain in this area. There is also Anger indicated by the Gallbladder channel’s link with the Liver.
Occipital; The back of the head represents your past. Some say also this is an area of spirituality. Pain here represents something in your past that is not complete and remains unforgiven. The back of the head is traversed by the Gallbladder Channel and the Urinary Bladder Channels indicating Anger born of Fear. The Back of the Head is thought to be the seat of Spiritual Experiences. The only way to see them is through inner sight. Pain in the back of the head represents an unwillingness to look deep within for the source of Light & Truth.
Back
Spine; The Spine Represents the support you think you have in Life and your alignment with those supportive forces. Curved spine, or Scoliosis represents a misalignment with Life. Spasms represent an unwillingness to accept the support that is there.
Shoulders; Shoulders represent burdens and responsibilities. Frozen Shoulder for example represents a complete unwillingness to shoulder your responsibilities in Life, especially your own Life. Pain and dysfunction to varying degrees represents varying degrees of unwillingness to be responsible. Moving forward in Life sometimes requires that you ‘put your shoulder to the wheel’ to overcome inertia. the Gallbladder channel traverses the shoulders and indicates Courage ( or lack of…).
The back, in Chinese Medicine, is considered to be your Yang side; the active, aggressive, lighted side. The back also represents that which is behind you. Very often we do not see clearly that which is behind us. Back problems generally represent conflict between the urge to move forward and the inertia of an unforgiven past that holds us back. This tension very often separates us from both and pain is the result. Louse Hay suggests that backs generally represent support.
Mid back; The mid back is the link between the shoulder and the lower back. It can be a weak link. As we firm up our shoulders and become willing to take on the responsibilities of Life, and we have gathered around us the financial and emotional support we need (lower back), something sneaks up and stabs us in the back. This is a blind spot. Not only can we not see it, but is very difficult to reach. The weak link crumbles. It is the saboteur or seducer that takes us off our path. Located in this area are the Tonification points (called ‘Shu’ points) for the Liver, the Stomach, and the Spleen. These organs are responsible for the transformation and transportation of Qi, and the free flow of Qi in the body. Blockages here affect the entire body and can stop you dead in your tracks. The Spleen represents Worry or Overthinking and the Liver represents Anger or base emotions. Both of these can sabotage even the best laid plans. Louse Hay suggests that the mid-back represents Guilt and stuck in the past stuff.
Lower Back; The Lower Back represents support; financial support, emotional support of family and friends, and support of God or the Universe. The Kidneys are located in this area and Kidney dysfunction results in Fear/Fright/Phobias. A sore lower back may indicate that we have taken on more than we think we can handle. This is a dysfunction, only if it is not the Truth. If we have indeed taken on too much, that would be indicated by a physical trauma to the back and all we need to do is lighten the load. Chronic low back ache, though, not associated with any trauma is the one with the Metaphysical application, and the one related to Kidney depletion. Kidneys are considered to have a central function relative to other organs since it is where Yuan Qi or our Primary Essence is stored. Yuan Qi is also known as Primary Qi or Congenital Qi. It is the Qi you are born with and determines your relative strength in the world. It is considered to be quite difficult to strengthen an already weak Yuan Qi, but it can be done. Low back pain is often diminished by strengthening the Kidneys. In short, Low back pain, generally refers to a lack of trust in the Universe to protect and support. Louise Hay suggests Fear of money is indicated.
Coccyx; The Coccyx/Sacrum is the seat of Self-pity. There is a fear of asking for help. One would rather sit and feel sorry for one’s self than get of one’s ass and do something.
Legs
Hips; Hips represent decisions in Life, especially decisions about moving forward. Pain in the hips is a sign of being ‘stuck’, unable to make a decision, or see clearly what is needed to be done next. The process of walking requires that we first thrust the hip forward and the leg etc. follows. This is actually, an act of faith on our part, since we are quite literally initiating a fall to the ground and trusting that our legs will save us. The Gallbladder Channel traverses the hip which again represents Courage and confidence to move forward. Louise Hay suggests that hip problems represent fear of going forward with major decisions. Hips represent the idea that the next step in your life is important. Pain or discomfort advises you to slow down or stop, look around, buy a map, or ask someone for directions.
Upper Thighs; Thighs are the link between the Hips & decisions, and the Knees & pride. Very often, when we have made a decision and take the next step, Pride gets in the way. “What if I look stupid? What if it’s not right? What if it doesn’t work out?” Our knees lock up or turn to jelly, and we are prevented from moving forward. The pain that begins in the Hips and shoots down the Thigh (Sciatic Nerve), is the separation from our desire and decision to move forward and our Fear of falling flat on our ass. Louse Hay suggests that Upper Thigh problems represent retaining childhood trauma.
Knees; Knees represent Pride. In spiritual practice it is suggested that one must go down before one can rise up, as Jesus did before John the Baptist, before taking up his own ministry. Pride or Ego keeps us from surrendering to the Will of God or the Universe. In practice, every time we move forward in Life or approach change, we approach the unknown. We may feel vulnerable or unsure. We may stand still, stiff kneed resisting the winds of change. It is interesting to note that stiff, sore knees are a symptom of Kidney deficiency, whose emotion is Fear. Rather than admit our fear, we resist it until it overwhelms us. While knees represent Pride, and it is said that ‘Pride goes before the fall’, knees can also represent Humility which is the wisdom to be yielding in the face of change.
Briefly, Knee problems may be said to indicate being stuck in the Ego, too proud to bend. Louise Hay also suggests that Knees represent Pride and the Ego.
Shins; The Shins represent another weak link. Although the Shins are mostly bone, the hardest substance in the body, the Shins are actually quite sensitive and brittle. A slight whack on the Shins is not only painful, it weakens the entire body and stops it cold. When we have organized ourselves to move forward, to take the next step towards the goal we have set, and are in the process of taking it, something comes along and sends you tumbling. It is something we trip over because we don’t see it, even though it is right there in front of us. In ancient times the shin pads that worriers wore were called greaves. Very often what trips us up is something, the loss of which we haven’t properly grieved. Moving forward always means something gets left behind. Interesting to note is that the three Yin channels of the foot all criss cross at Spleen 6 (Sanyinjiao), representing a confluence of Worry, Anger, and Fear. Moving forward is often marked by a jumble of emotional responses which need to be sorted out, especially if we are resisting it. Louise Hay suggests that problems are fear of the future; not wanting to move ahead.
Ankles; Ankles represent flexibility, which is important as one navigates the twists and turns of Life. Stiff, painful ankles means that change is difficult for you. Maybe you are one who digs in your heels and resists moving forward. The more Life forces change upon you, the deeper you dig in. A broken ankle is a good sign to develop some flexibility in your Life. Louise Hay suggests that ankles represent mobility and direction.
Feet; Our feet represent our connection with Mother Earth. Sore, swollen, numb or painful feet represent the state of our relation with our Mother. Mother Earth, and our base energies. While it is legs that carry us forward into Life, it is the feet that actually make contact with the ground and can stop any advance, or at least make it difficult. In modern society with its asphalt, concrete and High Rises, we lose touch with the Earth and its energies. This may be reflected in our relationship to the one who gave birth to us. Separation can cause real pain.
All the Leg Yin & Yang channels meet and flow into each other in the toes. This is an area of high energy and strong effect on the body. This is an area where strong energies are in transition, so our contact with Mothers, Mother Earth and our base energies is always ambivalent. We want to draw closer to that love, but at the same time move away on our own course.
In my experience, the feet often store toxic energies (as often to do with grief or resentments as not), as far away from the Heart as possible. This means, in the feet. Often, these are issues that go all the way back to childhood. Lacking the tools to effectively release grief or resentment the body stores it, like it stores fat. Over time, more and more toxic energies are stored here and fill up the receptacle. In many cases, the entire leg can become involved and the waste starts leaking back into the system. This is a very serious situation indeed, that can lead to amputations, blood disorders and even death, as the body struggles to protect the Heart. Metaphysically, it becomes clear that the space you are standing in is painful. The key is to move on. Stop dwelling on the past, release or transform whatever it is that keeps you emotionally standing still. Louise Hay suggests that feet represent our understanding of ourselves, of Life, and others, and toes represent minor details of the future.
Throat; The Throat represents our Will, and our ability to communicate, both with others and with ourselves. Sore throats, lumps in the throat, tumours all represent difficulties in saying what we want to say. Lumps, both physical tumours and those that are non-manifest (Hystericus Globus) are our willful attempts to block free expression of emotion and of our identity. The Throat is another one of those weak links that can seduce or sabotage you from your path. The Throat is the channel between the Head and the Heart. In Chinese Medicine it is said the Heart houses the Mind, especially in its connection with the emotion of Joy and the expression of Love for ourselves and for others. Have you ever had a great idea, gotten your body motivated, put your Heart into it, only to say something completely stupid which makes a mess of things? Have you ever felt the urge to say something complimentary and suppressed it? Have you ever just blurted out something that just seemed to by-pass the brain? How often does a careless or ill chosen word create havoc in your Life? Where this comes from is all the things you have not said over the years that get stuck in the throat, needing to get out, and out they come, one way or the other.
All emotions are designed to be expressed, even the ones we judge to be negative and especially the ones we judge to be positive. Louise Hay calls the the Throat an avenue of expression and a channel of creativity. Problems indicate an inability to speak up for one’s self, swallowed anger , stifled creativity and refusal to change. Thyroid problems indicate difficulty in analyzing, digesting and assimilating the communication between the Head and the Heart.
Chest/Breasts; The chest area represents the Feminine principal of nurturing and nourishing the connection with the ‘breath of Life’ as it flows through the Lungs. In men, pain or discomfort, not associated with any organ or vessel represents a disconnection from the Feminine principal. Breast envy, may exist in men; the desire to connect with the feminine side, the same way male member envy is said to exist in women; the desire to connect with the masculine side. In Chinese Medicine, the front is considered Yin. The chest is the confluence of the three most important kinds of Qi, that nourish the body; Zhong Qi, from the Lungs, Jing Qi, from the Spleen, and Yuan Qi from the Kidneys. Breast problems represents a denial of the Mother/feminine principal to nourish the self and to nourish others. Louise Hay suggest also that the breasts represent mothering and nurturing. Cysts, lumps etc. represents over mothering.
Solar Plexus; Is said to the be the seat of the Ego and Individuation. Some call this the Negative Ego. In general this area represents the conflicts in your life. Pain or discomfort in the Diaphragm area represents unresolved conflicts. In Chinese Medicine, pain in this area indicates Liver Qi Stagnation, usually associated with Anger
Stomach; The stomach represents digestion, not only of food and physical nutrients, but of new ideas, new ways of doing things, and accepting change of any kind. The Stomach is nothing more than a big flexible bag of muscle whose job it is to ripen and rot whatever is put into it. That is, its job is to break down what is put into it into a form that the body can deal with. This it does by adding Hydrochloric Acid, Hormones, Enzymes and Bile which reduces every sold morsel into an undifferentiated mass called Chyme. Simultaneously it rocks back and forth swishing and swilling this mess until it is liquefied and able to pass through the small Pyloric Valve into the Small Intestine where the actual absorption of nutrients mostly takes place. Metaphysically, when we come upon a new idea or a new way of doing things, the process is similar. First we must swallow the idea, either whole or in handy bite sized morsels, break it down into a form we can handle and finally absorb that which we need to nourish ourselves. In the same way that a bad diet poisons the body, toxic ideas, suppressed emotions and resistance to change can have a poisoning effect. In traditional Chinese Medicine, long standing emotional disharmony is seen as a primary cause of disease. Strengthening the Spleen/Stomach which between them are responsible for transforming food and water into Qi, and transporting it throughout the body, is seen as a key strategy to deal with almost any disease. Metaphysically we need to nourish ourselves every day, just as we need to eat nourishing foods. Just as the physical body needs nourishment to grow and carry on its day to day activities, so do the Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual bodies. Metaphysically, ‘wellness’ is not accomplished by a change in diet alone. Louise Hay suggests that the stomach holds nourishment, digests ideas. Problems indicate dread, fear of the new, and an inability to assimilate the new.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
