     yuseong bay is a small town so there are more slow days in the clinic than busy ones. even with the addition of the resort and its tourists, aera still can say that she spends more time in the break room waiting for any patients to come in than actually doing her work as a nurse, which honestly isn't bad, even more so when it means that so few people in yuseong bay or in the resort are getting hurt. but it does still get a little boring sometimes, it still forces aera to find something to do with her time when it isn't being occupied with her patients and crochet has been that something ever since she was in technical school, trying to fight off the urge to drop everything because classes and exams could be a little too overwhelmingly stressful.

     but the thing is that aera sometimes does end up losing the notion of time when she gets too engrossed in whatever she's making this time — a request from a friend that wanted to matching sweater for them and their cat — so it's nice to have someone around that will remind her to not spend her whole lunch break with crochet needle and a thread on her hand instead of eating, that someone being selena — the part time recepcionist of the clinic. selena is nice and aera has honestly yet to witness her getting genuinely upset at the nurse for her habit, but it doesn't stop aera from feeling a little self conscious when she steps out of the break room with her wallet and cellphone in hand.

     "i haven't eaten yet!" she answers in person to the text that she received from her friend, deciding to completely ignore the part where selena called her out since aera was a bad liar anyway, any excuse that her mind could produce being so ridiculous it was obviously not the truth. "i was actually thinking we could go together." which isn't necessarily a lie since aera did think of it when she saw selena's text, assuming that the other hasn't had her own lunch yet. "and then you can tell me all bout what wild thing that you mentioned in your text."

     "hm," taeho takes a moment to look at the endless sea of colorful beads and threads, all materials for their friendship bracelets. he's tempted to say black because it's enough of a neutral color that he wouldn't have to worry about matching colors and whatnot, but then he thinks that black is a little too bland for a friendship bracelet; but then he thinks that selena might prefer to make something colorful instead and that's why his final answer ends up being— "something blue with a little green, something like the sea." he doesn't see any sort of sea green or turquoise in the middle of the beads, at least not at first glance, but he does see a couple of seashells and whatnot so he's sure that selena will have plenty with fun with them.

     "fun is a little too vague." he tilts his head do the side, thinking that it's even more so when moon taeho doesn't always grasp the full concept of fun, besides he's too scared to disappoint selena even more, to make something that she won't like but will wear it anyway just for the principle of it, or even worse— make things between them even more awkward because she was the one who proposed for them to make friendship bracelets and now she had to also make excuses to why she isn't wearing the one that taeho made for her, hesitant in telling him that she simply didn't like it. "can you be a little more specific?" taeho asks, perhaps a little too stiffly, wincing internally at his own tone and words a second later. he doesn't want to sound like he's picking a fight again. "i mean— just—" but words fail him once more, anything that his mind tries to come up with to ease his awkwardness and soften his tone only seems like it'll make things even more. "nevermind, something fun. i can work with that."

     taeho knows that it's his fault, that he should be the one to apologize because he so obviously crossed a line; no matter how frustrated he felt and how much his words came from a place of care, a want for selena to be happy, it doesn't give him the right to treat her like someone who didn't have the ability to make decisions about her own love life, about whom she decides to go on a date with. it isn't taeho's place to take her by the hand and try to drag her to whom he thinks would be a better choice for her (even more so when he'd be dragging her to himself of all people). he knows that; the thing that he doesn't know is how to bring it up— how to gather enough courage to face head on the dense nimbus of awkwardness that is relentlessly clouding their friendship.

     at least selena didn't seem mad; quite the contrary, considering that she was the one that suggested for them to do something a little different, to make friendship bracelets for each other as if she was trying to quietly say that they're still friends. taeho was relieved, he really was, but he still couldn't completely pretend that argument never happened, not when it kept repeating itself in his head and made him think of things, to realize feelings that won't do any good for him, much less for his roommate.

    ��"should we order take out for dinner?" taeho asks just so any heavy silence won't settle between them. "what are you feeling like eating?"

it's windy outside. the kind of wind that howls out threats of an imminent storm, but for now, selena leaves her bedroom window open. the curtains catch most of the breeze, and what they don't catch serves as a tool to keep the room cool amidst the heavy, warm air of uncertainty. she and taeho pretend that nothing's out of place. it's unusual for her, this kind of avoidance, but she maintains it for the sake of his comfort and their routines. some things are better left addressed, and besides, the window's open. should the storm get too bad, she'll close it.

they’re sitting on the floor atop one of the many handmade blankets that her mother had gifted them upon moving into their apartment. it’s spread out seamlessly on the hardwood floor and provides just enough space for them to sit across from each other with friendship bracelet materials and a cheap loom in between. there’s a six-pack of green apple smirnoff ice to selena’s left and a shitty bluetooth speaker to her right. not playing anything yet—just set up in preparation for when things get awkward again, if things get awkward again. a last ditch effort to prevent an uncomfortable silence from settling in. she’s got her fingers metaphorically crossed that it won’t be needed.

"what colors do you want me to use for yours?" she asks, accompanied by the soft 'pop' of a tupperware lid coming off. inside the container, the choices of thread are chaotically strewn together. the lid removal carries with it some kind of smell that she can't really place; the smell of the past maybe, of the last time she'd made a bracelet with these materials. 2013, maybe.

Even on a beach island vacation, Camilla would find a way to keep her title of “juice lady.” Where she found the supplies, for both non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, or the cart she managed to hitch to Barbie to drag everything along with her was unimportant. It was juice time. 

Camilla paused a moment, before a mischievous grin grew across her face. “I have just the thing for you.” She made a big show of pouring his drink, mixing an absurd amount of fruity citrus drinks with two shots of a bottle labeled “forever clear.” “Nice and strong for you!” 🍹

He doesn’t have the chance to say anything before Camilla, menace the woman was, begins mixing up some sort of infernal concoction before him—a mixture of alcohol and various different juices, none of which were to Valter’s particular tastes. He is not a drinking man, and as such, he does not recognize the “forever clear” included in the poison, but even without knowing for certain—

An exhale; a half-laugh; his expression grows serious.

“ I am not drinking that. ”

And then he smiles, easy and carefree, one hand absent-mindedly passing through his hair. “ I’m simply not a fan of things that are too sweet, you know. ” (The explanation is not the whole truth.)

“ If you were willing to try it first, however, ”—(he does not know her tolerance, but if it were poisonous, she would avoid it all the same)—“ perhaps I’d consider it. ”

(He wouldn’t, but he can lie.)

[ Mulled wine ] - The eternity of the night’s lively energy drawing to a close, Selena slinks back towards the sides of the hall. A passing attendant offers her a small delight in a wine glass. Its warmth wafts up, a revival for perhaps one more pass at the festivities. Holding up the liquid to eye level, Selena admires its rich crimson, its hue nearly mimicking her own twintails. As she lowers it however, she notices another head of hair across the room with a similar shade. His hands look noticeably empty!.... And so, another glass of mulled wine in hand, Selena arrives beside him, a little out of breath in her quick turnaround of interest.

“Hey, try this wine.” She unceremoniously nudges his hand. “I’ve been sick of all these knights and nobles trying to get me to dance. Your face isn’t completely ugly though, so…” Ahem. “Do you want my brooch decoration?” Selena touches the small crystal on her neck inquisitively.

Lukas feels as if he's been caught up in a whirlwind.

A cup nudged against his hands - this, he takes, subconsciously. He is unsure if he is being complimented, then, by this flare of a girl, or if she is trying to toe around impoliteness. As he settles the cup in his hands, then, she offers him a trade.

What a whirlwind indeed.

First, he tries a sip.

"It is a good wine."

He knows a thing or two about good wines, despite lacking much proclivity towards drinking. Such is the unfortunate side effect of noble blood - far too many hours wasted upon things like wine, and far too few hours spared for journals and biographies. Drinking the wine is as much a breather as it is an indulgence, and he takes a few moments more to answer her.

"We can trade, yes."

The cup is set aside - away, but not forgotten - as his hand unclasps the feather that adorns his breast. It sits neatly in his hand as he offers it out to the girl.

"Thank you."

Selena is taken from after the events of Sacred Stones. She died in Chapter 13 of Ephraim’s route, and this troubles her greatly.

(READ THE BELOW BULLET POINT) She is an unaffiliated magic instructor, but she’ll most often be acting as a substitute teacher rather than an instructor of her own. If a student needs extra assistance/tutoring though, she is more than happy to help, regardless of whether they’ve met before.

UPDATE AS OF 2024/03/25: Selena is currently a Golden Deer professor, and although she will still fulfill the roles of substitute, tutor, and seminar-giver as necessary, she does full-on have her own classes now and will be handling that work primarily. Leaving the old bullet point as reference for older interactions + transparency with regards to her history here, but it is no longer accurate to the present.

While her internal monologue will still include it (and she will respond to anyone who refers to her as such), Selena will not be telling new people about her former Fluorspar title or that she was once a highly-ranked general. No longer serving Emperor Vigarde, she doesn’t quite feel like she deserves it.

On a similar note, anytime Selena speaks of her military history, the details will be kept non-specific. She was commander for a while in a nation overseas, yes, but she won’t admit to being of the most competent and/or well-known.

This energy is very open and inviting. Your person is quite bold, and when they know what they want they show persistence, and adapt quickly to changing winds. 01. ASHWINI NAKSHATRA (0°00' ARIES - 13°20' ARIES)

Ashwini is the first nakshatra in Vedic astrology. It starts at the very beginning of the Aries sign and is ruled by the shadow planet Ketu, which represents detachment, spirituality, liberation, tradition and the past life. The combination of Ketu and Mars (ruler of Aries) makes this nakshatra about new beginnings, taking action, vitality and quickness. Since the ruler of this nakshatra is Ketu, the role of this planet in Ashwini nakshatra is to begin a new life journey and to activate the karma of this current lifetime. If you have Sun, Moon, Ascendant, chart ruler or Atmakaraka in this nakshatra, that means you have a prominent Ashwini nakshatra in your chart.

The deities which rule Ashwini nakshatra are Ashwini Kumaras, the twin gods of health and medicine. They were physicians who were able to heal the people who were deaf, blind or sick. This nakshatra is connected to healing, medicine and magic, since the power of this nakshatra is the Power to quickly heal and reach desires. A lot of people with prominent Ashwini nakshatra in their chart usually work as doctors, surgeons, healers, psychologists, magicians etc. The symbol of this nakshatra is a horse's head, representing swiftness, agility and vitality. The next thing I wanna talk about is a myth of Ashwini nakshatra. So, Ashwini Kumaras (the deities of Ashwini nakshatra) are the sons of Surya and Sanjana. Surya is a god of Sun and is actually a synonym for the planet Sun in Vedic astrology. That's why there's an exaltation point of the planet Sun in this nakshatra at 10° of Aries sign. Sanjana was a Surya's wife, but she couldn't stand his husband Surya so she created a shadow self called Chaya, which was basically her clone. Interestingly enough, Surya didn't noticed that Sanjana disappeared at the first place. He actually believed that Chaya (the shadow of Sanjana) was an actual Sanjana.

Because of this myth, people with this nakshatra in their charts may struggle with relationships or marriage. It might indicate having homosexual tendencies, since Ashwini nakshatra is ruled by Ketu, the planet of liberation. Women with this nakshatra might also have a tendency to leave their male partners and to live on their own or to search for romantic relationship with another woman.

Every nakshatra has four quarters or padas, so does Ashwini nakshastra. Each pada tells us about the placements in our Navamsa (D9) chart.

“Oh, that’s–” (She blinks, before shaking her head briefly.) “It is fine, do not worry.” If you do not focus on the mask, it is not so bizarre, is it?

She imagines ‘the boy in blues and pinks’ refers to Ewan—her memory served her to remember that was his scheme. (Further, he was the only other witch Selena remembers encountering: not that she knew everyone’s costumes by heart.) Fluorspar nods.

“Indeed—it’s a simple costume, though easy to create a deal of variety with. I figured that, even though it may end up being fairly common, I shouldn’t end up looking precisely the same as anyone else.”

(The mask was more bearable the more one looked at it. Sort of.)

“…Might I ask what your costume is meant to be? I worry I might be… missing some of the context for it.”

It almost reminds her of a very particular someone’s type of humor: perfectly normal from neck to toe, but on top of it all—she does not grimace. (Not to his face, at least.)

Blinking—once, then twice, but still: the mask remains. (She’s been staring too long, hasn’t she? She should say something at least–)

“…”

(Her mouth closes wordlessly.)

Hm. (She definitely has to speak now.)

“Ah… hello… there.” (If her voice could be squinting, it would—if only to cover the fact that she was trying, with complete earnesty, to maintain a perfectly unbothered expression.)

“Would you… like… to go… trick-or-treating…?”

Hm. (How did it get here?)

Belatedly, almost forgotten, “My name is Selena, by the way.”

There is a woman staring at him.

Intensely.

She's making her way over to him, but her eyes don't waver and she does not immediately speak up. She doesn't seem afraid, nor does she appear dumbfounded. Perhaps baffled is a better description?

They end up only a few feet apart from each other, staring in awkward silence before the woman -- another bizarre witch, if the broom in her grasp is anything to go by? -- offers up a stilted greeting.

"Good evening," Lukas responds smoothly, juxtaposed to the dog's grinning maw.

Hm, it seemed that did not break the ice thoroughly enough, she was still speaking in fits and starts.

"Dame Selena, it would please me greatly to join you as our night comes to an end. Ah, are you quite sure you're fine to go with me, however?" Lukas asks, though he offers his arm all the same. "Are you a witch as well, like the boy in blues and pinks?"
