-since he's also a teenager-young adult ,he isn't very prepared to have a baby

-it's not that he doesn't love you,trust me,he does very much

-it's just as we have seen in the manga,he is unfortunately very immature and I don't know if he'll be prepared to handle a baby

-he wants to have children with you,but he doesn't know a specific moment for that

-now that you two have a surprise,you must decide if you keep the baby or not

-he's fine either way with your choice,it's your body and choice

-I think that if you keep the baby he'll start to become a lot more mature than he was before

-also expect all of the Hiiragis to be amazed with your child

-he is the type to show off your baby to everyone

-carresses your belly every moment of the day,he is always placing his hands on your belly

-makes sure you're always fed well and that you eat lots of goodes while being pregnant

-he is always worshipping your body to make you feel good

-if you have any type of pain expect the best treatment ever

i should be studying for my upcoming exam but everytime i try to start reading my contemporary military theory book i cant help imagining an alternate universe where kureto is a political sciences student and at dinner starts talking about this shit in hope of stimulate some critical thinking in those dumbasses of his siblings but they all just go ”bruh what the fuck?„ ”you okay nii-san?„

my problem with owari no seraph's writing, from someone who's been reading it since 2016

finally decided to revive this blog after it sat untouched for years and collected copius amounts of dust.... just ignore my old posts LMAO

anyways, i have a small list of issues that i think i've already posted about before? but i wanted to compile them all, and add on anything i haven't mentioned before.

*small spoiler warning for recent chapters & light novel*

the countless neglected side plots and characters. i understand that every side story will eventually get its time to shine... but when? i don't think i'd have such a problem with it if the comic updated more often, but i understand that kagami has other scripts to write and it takes yamamoto time to draw the beautiful art. but it's been years since we last saw characters like lacus welt, rene simm, seishiro hiragi, chess belle, makoto narumi and horn skuld. i definintely think it's a huge shame that after being present for like, 50 or so chapters, they just... disappeared. hell, last time yoichi's plan to get revenge on lacus was mentioned was over 5 years ago. again, if the updates were faster i wouldn't have such a problem with it taking so many chapters to finally get to the side storylines. but i just feel like it's been way too long at this point... this has already been stated before, but the lack of mistuba, kimizuki, yoichi, and sometimes shinoa's respective stories being addressed is also really annoying. it feels like they've been completely forgotten and neglected and like the comic is just 'mika & yu + extras''. i want to see yoichi get his revenge on lacus, i want to see ferid's backstory, i want to see mitsuba's relationship with her sister branched out more, i want to see chess and horn and how they're relevant to crowley's story, i want to see where narumi ran off to, i want to see kimizuki's storyline with his sister, and i know these will be addressed eventually, but like... when? to add onto this, i feel like new storylines keep being added on without old ones being addressed. the whole thing with mika turning into a demon, turning into a sword, finding out the first's past, and all of that. but then again, it took us years to finally figure out the first's past, so i trust that these side plots will also eventually get addressed! it's just very messy, and all over the place.

2. the same lines being repeated over and over again. i swear to god every couple of chapters they go through the same dialogue of "we're going to revive everyone and save all of our family members and save the whole world" and i just feel like nothing really happens after that? just from chapters 100-130 it's been mentioned SO many times and i just. if i'm missing something i'd appreciate it if someone could just tell me at this point because i really don't see why the almost exact same dialogue has to be said so often. i am perfectly aware that the whole storyline revives around the importance of companionship, friendship, and love, but it just seems futile for the same exact thing to be stated so often. i think when it's SHOWN rather than just being told is really nice, like how krul and ashera's backstory was played out, or how the love between paimon and bael was shown. we can draw our own conclusions and interpret the story differently based on what we see rather than being spoonfed the same information over and over again. ashera basically cursed his sister because he couldn't fathom living without her, and bael ended his life because he couldn't fathom living without paimon. i think when the love and importance of the character's relationships with each other is shown like this, rather than the same dialogue being restated chapter after chapter, the story flows much smoother.

3. the lack of character development. again, if i've somehow missed it then please just tell me because i can't find it anywhere. specifically in yu's case, because it's been YEARS. i will say, in the early volumes of the manga i definitely saw him undergo a huge change, because before he got put in the demon army he had a very sour attitude and refused to make friends. but after he found his new family, he did a complete 180 and made it his life's mission to live for them and do anything to save them, mika included (later on) but again, that was years ago and since then i've honestly been unable to see much change in his behavior. despite the numerous times guren has shown himself to be a shifty, shady person that's hard to trust, it doesn't go through yu's head. even after they had that huge fight around chapter 112, his anger towards guren wasn't even about the fact that guren planned for his family to be murdered by ferid! he rarely listens to mika, and he generally just goes off and does whatever he likes. i UNDERSTAND that this is just part of his character and personality, but my god is it frustrating to watch... i will say though, him bowing to krul and requesting her help to save mika was a nice surprise that i didn't anticipate. i'd really like to see more of that! more of him listening to other characters who desperately try to help him, etc.

4. the way female characters are written and treated. i understand that this is a shounen manga, but the only female characters in the series being used for fan service gets on my nerves a LOT, especially since they're not really that well written in the first place. also the dialogue and interactions between them... i really really hate that majority of the conversations between just shinoa and mitsuba are played off as boob jokes or something when they could be having legitimate bonding moments and building their friendships. like i'm not gonna lie, shinoa is an absolutely FASCINATING character to me. but i want to see the girls interact with other girls outside of topics that have to do with a man or just making boob jokes!!! (i've only read volume 1 of the catastrophe manga,) but going off of that, the way there could've been so much more attention paid to sayuri's character for example but a lot of the spotlight on her just consisted of either a. her boobs being shown or b. somebody talking about her boobs. i'm not gonna lie, one of the first pages of the manga being a naked 14 year old girl was ....?? anyways. and how could i forget about chess and horn! they're vampires that're hundreds to thousands of years old, and they can't even fall in love or feel romantic desire, but the whole blushing thing while getting down on their knees to suck crowley's blood from his finger? chess getting jealous of horn for being able to suck his blood? hello? like... come on. i will say though, i really like how krul's character is written. in my opinion, she's an example of a well written female character.

an additional note that's not criticism: my opinions on the new art style are kinda 50/50... i feel like for the adult/older characters, the tiny eyes and sharper/more realistic features can make them look kinda weird sometimes, especially their front profiles. but for the younger/child/teen characters, i actually really like it and i feel like it suits them! not having their eyes take up half of their faces anymore looks good, and it can also be interpreted as physical growth.

anyways, there are so so so many things that i legitimately love about owari no seraph, so this isn't me just shitting on the entire series. i'm gonna follow it through to the end, and i'm excited to see how that goes! i just think the writing could use.... some work.

-This was it, the day that he was supposed to fight Seishiro in a match for school, but he had better things to do. So he played helpless and let Shinya tell the officials that he withdrew. It didn't matter in the end, so what if he didn't get to fight a Hiragi right now, there would be time for it later.

-He stood off to the side as he listened to everyone laugh, and insult him for forfeiting the match. They were calling him a waste of space, pathetic for hiding behind a woman that lost badly. None of them knew the truth.

-Not even his followers.

-"What the heck is going on?" asked Mito, when they called Guren forward, but Shinya went forward instead.

-He held back an eyeroll.

-"Why is Shinya in the ring instead of you?" said Norito.

-"I'm forfeiting the match..." Guren said, plane and simple.

-"What?"

-What was with these two? They acted as if they were his friends, but he knew better. They were just tacking pity on the weak Ichinose, with the followers that were better skilled than him.

-They knew nothing.

-"You're not serious, are you?"

-Guren sighed, as they continued on.

-"This is going too far," said Mito, a glare in her eyes. "Don't you even care when he did to your follower yesterday?!"

-Of course he did, yet they didn't understand what would happen if he fought that stuck up Hiragi. Let alone what was going to happen soon. It was best that his followers were not here, after all the two girls that were safely tucked away in the hospital didn't even know. All they knew was Guren was stronger than he wanted the others to knows.

-"Seriously! You can't just forfeit! She fought hard, for your sake. She didn't care about the consequences! You can't just tuck tail and run! I don't care how strong Seishiro is. You need to get in there and fight!"

-Guren inwardly smirked. No he didn't. Any minute now this little so called match wouldn't matter. They would all know what the next head of the Ichinose clan was willing to do for power, and for protecting the people that he couldn't before.

-"Listen to Nirito! Even if you lose, we'll stop him before anything bad happens...If you don't fight, everything your followers did for you will be wasted-"

-Guren was tired of this, and for a split second a dark look came across his eyes, as he growled out, "Dammit, why can't you guys just leave me alone? I don't need you two telling me what to do! I'm forfeiting the match! I'm weaker than Sayuri! So what point is there in fighting?"

-The two was at a loss for words at that point. Sure Guren had a habit of blowing them off, but he never spoke to them like that, with such force, such annoyance. It was almost as if the Guren they had been trying to protect was just someone who was a quiet observant person, that didn't want to be involved with anyone, and this one, was darker. Someone that you should not get involved with.

-"Ha! He's forfeiting? You've gotta be kidding me!" Seishiro's voice rang out from the testing circle. "I can't believe he's running. Not after what I dud to his woman. The Ichinoses really are pathetic!"

-All the insults started once more, about how pathetic he was, how even a mutt should put up a fight. They all started laughing at him.

-Guren didn't give a shit, he laughed with them. After all they wouldn't be laughing long, and not due to getting tired of mocking him.

-He looked up at the sky as he laughed, and saw what he was waiting for. His attention snapped into focus. It was right on time.....in the wrong place.

-He took a single step to the side, and shoved Mito and Goshi away from him. He didn't need them here. They would see the truth, and it was time to stop pretending.

-The beam that Guren had side stepped had created a smoke screen. He smiled coldly as he screams from the very students that just moments before, were laughing at him. He knew where to go, without being attacked or lost in the assault.

-As he got closer he heard someone he knew rather well speaking to the pain in the ass that was Shinya, not to mention the sun in his life.

-"It's so much easier negotiating when your partner is intelligent. Obviously I'm here to talk, not fight."

-"Than talk," said the sweet voice of Mahiru.

-"...Join us. Let us destroy the Hiragi Clan together. Once the Hiragis have been beaten into submission, you two will be free."

-Guren smirked at the silence. He knew that Saito was basically telling Mahiru and Shinya that if they joined the Thousand Nights, and won against the Hiragis they would not have to get married. The two would be free to do whatever they wanted.

-The fact that they did not respond told Guren that they would probably turn it down. He sighed, not surprised. Mahiru wasn't one to cut corners, and switch sides just to gain more power.

-Yet there was someone else who had....

-There was a clashing sound. The sound of battle. They must have considered the offer, and turned it down. It didn't matter, things would play out nicely in the end.

-"Dammit. I thought this would be easier. For a couple of kids, you two really are strong... I told my bosses to send more than one guy to deal with you two-"

-Guren could hear his pain. They must have pinned him somehow, with a sword, or a spell. He was not sure from where he was, at least not yet. He had to get into position to make a show. Make it look like he was going to be taken soon. But his hearing was just as sensitive as it was before.

-"No more stalling!" Shinya warned, "Why? Why did you come here?"

-"...There is something that we want here," Saito said.

-"Here?" Mahiru said confused.

-"Yes."

-"What is it?"

-"Research materials." There was a dead silence between Shinya and Mahiru. Guren smiled. "It's a long story. One of the students here betrayed the Hiragis. This student has been selling secret magic to the Thousand Nights, behind the clan's back... The research project was an experiment we've been carrying out together with the student."

-And there it was. The whole reason for the attack today. To retrieve this student. It was easy to assume that the one that was doing it had to be inside the Hiragi family inside and yet....

-"You're not the one selling them information, are you?" Shinya asked Mahiru.

-"This may come as a surprise, but it's the first time I've ever heard about this. I wonder why they didn't approach me, too."

-Guren heard Saito laugh softly. "The Hiragi Clan was betrayed by someone you would not expect."

-"So what are you trying to say?" Shinya asked.

-"It is someone who hates the Hiragi Clan."

-"Do you know who it is?" Mahiru asked Shinya. He did not answer however. "Shinya?"

-"Crap," he muttered, running off in the wrong direction, leaving Mahiru alone with Saito.

-"Shinya!" Mahiru called after him, but he did not come back to her.

-Saito chuckled. "He seems to have figured out who I am speaking about, and left you alone with me, my Lady. It does not matter, my job is almost complete. We came to gather our research materials and to pick up our collaborator. Both objectives should be nearly complete. My objective was to keep you and young Shinya busy. I've already succeeded. You two were so busy dealing with me that you never had a chance to meddle in our real plans..."

-Guren glanced over his shoulder, seeing a few men from the Thousand Nights with him. They were his bodyguards in a way. They were only there to play up his kidnapping.

-Finally, he thought, No more acting.

-"Guren. The traitor is Guren Ichinose," Mahiru said, sounding sad, yet calm.

-"You're taking that information better than I thought you would."

-"Why would I be so upset?"

-"Well, he is your boyfriend, isn't he?"

-There was a small gasp from Mahiru, but she responded with a tone that sounded stronger than someone who wanted to cry, "I haven't seen him in ten years. How could we have that kind of relationship?"

-"Is that so?"

-"It is."

-"You still think of him, though."

-"Wrong again."

-"No....I don't think I am. You're powerful. Too powerful for someone your age. You built up your strength in hopes that one day you might take Guren, and someone else close to you, away from this life."

-"I said you're wrong!" Mahiru said, sounding slightly upset.

-"Hahaha! Have it you're way. But you realize that Guren is still in love with you, don't you?"

-"..."

-"The only reason he grew so strong, and betrayed everyone, was so that he could return to your side. It was very brave of him, don't you think? All these years he remains true, working hard to be reunited with you."

-"..."

-Guren sidestepped someone that ran by, someone that was meaningless, as he got closer to Mahiru. His heart was racing for some reason, a desire building up inside of him to take her away as Saito was saying, and yet....deep down something was telling him it wasn't going to happen.

-He was close enough now that he could see that she had the assassin run through with her katan. It was clear that she had every intention of killing him, to make the school safer with him gone. He smirked. Killing him was not that simple.

-It was at that moment that Shinya's voice rang out, "They took Guren Ichinose!"

-At first no one would have cared, but Shinya yelling about it caused everyone else to yell, "Find him!"

-Mahiru looked up alarmed. "No!"

-"It looks like we're out of time," said Saito. "We can't fight the Imperial Demon Army without exposing the Thousand Night's involvement. A tactical withdrawal seems in order."

-"What are you talking about? What if I told my family?"

-"Would you? Would you risk his life, or his clans?"

-"I...."

-"Besides, if you care for Guren at all you wouldn't want to say anything that would put him in danger."

-"You...you have the wrong idea. I didn't grow stronger just so I could see Guren again-"

-Guren frowned as he came up behind her. "I am really sad to hear you say that, Mahiru."

-Guren could see the complicated look on her face. She was taking him in as he stood there, a cold look on his face. She had even pulled her weapon from Saito out of shock, when she had heard his voice. It's tone was nothing like the little boy she had known, or the person that had been attempting to hide this truth.

-The truth that he had stolen Hiragi information, and sold it to the Thousand Nights.

-She looked down at the weapon on Guren's hip, a jet black weapon that she had never seen before. In an instant he drew it, and strike for strike they were meting one another, metal clashing against one another. Guren having the upper hand only just. Mahiru had trained hard over the years.

-Guren laughed a little. "What do you think Mahiru? It is not quiet perfect yet, but we have almost gotten to the point where we can transcend to the next level."

-"What are you talking about? You are worrying me Guren."

-Guren broke off the stalemate, a dark grin on his face. "It's a weapon that not only we can use against the Hiragis, but we can kill vampires."

-Mahiru looked scared when she heard that, seeing the look on Guren's face. "Cursed gear? Your clan forbid that."

-Guren laughed as if he didn't care. It was worth it in the end. Not only would he get Mahiru back, but he could finally save his clan from those damned Hiragis. It was a double edged swoed, yet it was worth it.

-He was about to say something, when he clutched his chest, and Saito looked worried. At that moment he didn't care what the other had to say he, just had to get this out to Mahiru. "Ma...Mahiru don't....the gear failed." He winced as if he was fighting someone, and that darked voice came out, "Fuck off, I just need more power!"

-It was clear by than that the curse was draining Guren, it was leaving marks on his, slowly starting from his arm, and yet he kept his gaze on Mahiru. He swallowed as he fought off Saito. "The is something you need to know, this year at Christmas,, the world will come to an end."

-"What?"

-"The trumpets of the apocalypse will sound, and a virus will spread. When that time comes, a new world will arise. One that, more so than ever requires power. We'll meet again, Mahiru, when the world comes to an end."

-"Guren, I don't understand..."

-But Guren had said all that he had wanted to say on the matter. The next Ichinose head backed up, vanishing into the smoke, as if he was a ghost, and was never there.

-He gave Mahiru on last real smile.

-"I love you, Mahiru," he said, "That much is true. A day will come when you need me again... Until then, I'll be waiting."

-The black demon smirked again when she pointed out how he did not seem to care for his so called uncle. Seishiro was in uncle to a point. And they both knew that Kureto was not related to Hiro by blood, so to that ass of a major general, he thought Hiro was inferior. Sadly in Kureto's eyes Hiro had more value than Sieshiro did.

-"He...has no respect for me," Takeshi explained simply. "He also thinks he has more value than others, so no one can hurt him, or talk back to him." He chuckled at all the times Seishiro and the demon had clashed, and Takeshi had won. It was something that Kureto was amused by. "So of course he has no filter, he speaks to everyone that way. He even spoke to my foster uncle that way."

-Takeshi had dropped that small hint that Hiro was not originally a Hiragi. He would never say out right that he wasn't, that would get Hiro in trouble. That was the best hint that he could give.

-"She already thinks I am too sheltered. She said the other day that I needed to stop questioning how I am treated." He paused as he finished his drink. How to word what was going through his mind right now. Hiro had been going through so much. "Lord Kureto has my entire life planned out."

-Takeshi smiled as he drank some more of his own drink. The rest of the people in the café kept their distance, yet the atmosphere was getting back to normal, apart from around their table. People seemed afraid to disturb the Hiragi. Doing that could make them vanish after all. -"I don't come here much. Things like this....are what Lord Kureto would call a waste. I only come....when I want a small change." Hiro didn't know what treats were really. The only real time he got anything like that, candy, small cakes were from Shinoa, made by her squad mate of course. Hiro knew she could not cook.

-The demon listened to Rise as she spoke about her time she spent with Guren. So he was busy huh? Busier than Hiro at times. "I never eat with Lord Kureto, the only time he wants me to do so, is when I am ordered to with General Tenri, and Uncle." He smirked a little. There was only one person he never respected enough to call lord or by rank. And that asshole was Seishiro Hiragi. -"Otherwise I am on my own, normally I am in my room. The only time I have company without being with Lord Kureto, is with my aunt. It is almost as if she is afraid to leave me alone too long." -Takeshi chuckled a little, as he finished his drink. "Actually, I am sure she would be happy that I am out and about with someone, instead of on my own, or a bodyguard."

"Really? Well, that's stupid," she commented as she leaned back in her chair slightly, "I don't think it's wasteful if it's something that makes you happy. That's like me, I like to sing, Guren says I'm really good at it. I wouldn't say it's necessarily useful but he encourages me to do it anyways. I wish Kureto would let you do more, it isn't good being locked up the way you are all the time..."

"You don't seem to care for Seishiro." She noted as she went to take a drawn out sip of her drink. "I wouldn't either. I didn't like how he talked to you in that room... I mean, I know that the Hiiragi family is known for being pretentious, but damn does he really take the cake."

She paused before quickly saying, "s-sorry, that was a bit rude. I know he's your uncle, it's just... It bothers me." Rise shook her head slightly before offering a soft sigh. "It doesn't feel right. I mean, you do a lot of work for them, or at least that's what I've been noticing as we continue talking, and yet he still treats you poorly. He could at least try masking his disgust, y'know?"

"Normally when you're at our age you're easily influenced by those whom have authority over you. You'll mimic their behavior, pick up their little quirks... I'm sure Shinoa understands that too, to a degree, and that's why she worries for you so much. She probably doesn't want you going into being an adult thinking that what you go through day to day is normal." She looked up at him now as she offered a kind smile.

"I think we should start doing stuff like this more. That way your aunt won't have to worry about you anymore."
