My work for the Tokyo Ghoul pair up event with the wonderful writer @tg-headcanons !! PSYB is the best thing that happened to me this year and it helped me through my hardest time of the year so I'm really grateful.

Since we're supposed to make something based on the same prompt I decided to draw the ghoulfuckers club wedding, based on your headcanon. I have a lot of fun doing these and I'm planning to do more in the future so stay tuned!!

yep! here we go!

when I started shipping it if I did: poly couples don't really cross my mind as often as they probably should, but i enjoy the appeal!

my thoughts: no intense brainrot here, but i think they should all hold hands in a circle like normal coworkers should :] it would be a teambuilding exercise

What makes me happy about them: the ship is symbolic of their reconciliation and reconnection after the events of the anteiku raid. despite everything, they choose each other.

What makes me sad about them: they never got a scene together after rushima!!! that was messed up. it was appalling that neither akira nor amon just straight up didn't track takizawa's ass down when he was bucking up to leave.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: unsure bc i don’t read it

things I look for in fanfic: if i were looking, i’d want something that only has the ship as the ship (& relationships are a-okay) just so that i KNOW it’ll be a hard focus.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: never really thought about it, but taki/kuro is a dynamic i enjoyed.

My happily ever after for them: they travel the world and try to save people!

who is the big spoon/little spoon: akira and amon are making sure takizawa doesn’t go anywhere. idk if that is in a spoon position but that’s the goal of whatever they end up doing.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: quiet outings for coffee, since that’s all amon and takizawa can drink together with akira. it’s almost like when they went out for dinner together. almost.

Ok uhh fuck how do I talk about them without my brain turning to mush uhh warning for incoherent rambling

okay so the end of the anteiku raid. I have reread that part of the arc so many times cause <33 Like Akira's worried about Amon so Seidou runs off while lamenting how he always watched her from the side and never could really confront his feelings for her and then he finds Amon and then he sees that he's injured and when Tatara shows up Amon tries to tell him to run away cause Amon doesn't want to lose anyone else he cares about but Seidou refuses because he says he's a ghoul investigator and he became a ghoul investigator to protect the people he cares about (his family) right so it also makes sense that he would bring it up here because he's also trying to do that he's trying to protect both Amon and also Akira to an extent because he knows she cares about him and he just wants them to be happy and oh god this whole sentence is an entire paragraph. Anyway Seidou gets chomped and AKIRAS REFLECTED IN HIS EYES BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH HES DYING HES THINKING ABOUT HER. Oh and also the way Amon SCREAMS when Seidou gets "killed." He literally throws away the very very tiny amount of regard he had for his own life and goes in to try and kill Tatara despite literally having lost an arm and also presumably a lot of blood.

Okay uh then we have Rushima which HOLY SHIT. They all tried to kill/save each other which is kinda funny but also SJFSFSFKJL. FUCKING. Okay and Seidou tells Akira that he wanted her to see him as a hero and then Akira calls him a killer ghoul but okay in my head she's not just telling him that she's also trying to convince herself of that and that killing him really is the only option or maybe I'm looking too far into this ANYWAY. And then Amon comes out to save both of them because he cares about both of them and he also closes his kakugan whenever it's in Akira's view because he's scared of her seeing him as a monster or something. And also even though Seidou's killed a ton of people and is probably considered a monster even by ghoul standards Amon's still like "oh he deserves a second chance." Okay buddy. AND THEN THE SCENE WHERE AKIRA SHIELDS SEIDOU BECAUSE DEEP DOWN SHE ALWAYS CARED ABOUT HIM AND SKJLHFIU:OIS:DJH And then Amon protects them to make sure Akira and Seidou get away safely and ACK

Also uh they go on a date that one time :) And Amon is too busy eating skewers to fully notice the extent of the chaos around him :) Ok my brain is mush now there's so much more to talk about but I lost like 12 out of 15 braincells while writing this which is probably nothing compared to the amount anyone who had the misfortune of reading this lost. Anyway uh if you can't tell uh I like this ship :>

Chewing and biting and clawing at them in the most affectionate way possible I need to rip them to shreds. I can't express my feelings on this ship very articulately, they're so interesting but I oscillate wildly between barely thinking about them at all and caring about them so much. Mostly because I can't fabricate extensive narratives in my mind about them like I can for the ships I draw more frequently, I just think of little moments that come and go and I treasure each of them. "Canon no, Fanon yes" just because Ishida kind of disposed of Takizawa like a spare part he forgot to kill off before the manga ended, and there'd need to be some development or rewriting for it to work out. One of my first ships, a little less caring about it now but it still holds an important place in my heart.

Wait, you think Akira loved both Amon and Taki romantically? While I prefer akitaki as a ship I didn't interpret Akira saying she loved them both as a confession. She only admitted that she cared about both of them despite seeming emotionless, wasn't that the point of it? She was also never shown to be interested in Taki romantically, only Amon. I honestly don't see what the point of Akira having romantic feelings for Taki at this point would be. I doubt Ishida would include a poly relationship.

Yes, Akira probably did mean that romantically. She equates her love with Takizawa with her love with Amon, making no distinction when she’s talking to Gori about it. It’s also notable that she’s being confronted by Gori, who canonically has romantic feelings for Amon as well. She doesn’t differentiate, so yes, I think she very much loves both of them romantically.

Not all requited romantic loves have to result in the couple getting together, and I agree with you: we’re probably not getting a poly relationship in TG given Ishida’s... poor track record of LGBT representation in TG.

Furthermore, even though Seiaki has build up from the beginning of their scenes together just like Akiramon, Akira and Amon were always focused on more by the plot in the first TG. In :re not as much (Seiaki has more focus). Shuuneki is also built up (though it’s unrequited, like Mutsurie and Ayahina for now) from the beginning of their interactions, but was never going to be canon (and it got more focus than Touken in the first part of :re though wasn’t as well written as seiaki was). Seiaki has a better shot than Shuuneki, but seeing as Takizawa willingly sacrificed himself so Akiramon can be together and given Akiramon’s structural similarities to Touken. I feel like those feelings are also related to her father (because TG is Oedipal in a lot of ways). I don’t think we’re going to get a long-drawn out love triangle, I think Ishida will continue to handle it how he has handled it so far--unless Amon dies, which I don’t really see happening, Akira and Amon will probably end together and Seidou is honestly happy for them, but Akira and Seidou, and Amon and Seidou too for that matter, need to resolve what is unsaid between them.

I like both ships, so I don’t really mind either way.
