“See You On Venus” captures that classic storyline of a quirky, joyful girl inspiring a quiet, grief-stricken boy to embrace life more fully (and vice versa).

I was moved by the characters' profound journeys of self-discovery, bringing out the best in each other. It's the kind of film that leaves you feeling a bit more optimistic.

And the stunning travel scenes almost made me drop everything and hit the road. 🚌🗺

Netflix worthy movie

I'm here on a typical weekend, looking for something to watch at home. I don't need an action packed movie to have a good Saturday night. Just something weekend worthy to watch with a good storyline to keep my attention.

I found that with 'See You on Venus' on Netflix

A story of 2 teens(Kyle & Mia) that have gone through some hard times and trauma meet under an unfortunate situation. They decide to travel to Spain together to find Mia's birth mother. Secrets were uncovered. A friendship is born between Mia & Kyle. A friendship where feelings developed.

But Mia & Kyle are faced with a scare. I hate when sad things happen, but its part of the story. I was rooting for Kyle and Mia. I wanted Mia to finally win in life after living in foster care basically all her life and bouncing from home to home. She also has a medical condition she is battling. Just wanted something good to happen for her.

Kyle is dealing with a tragedy, and had been so closed off, is now starting to come around.. Through the trip to Spain, they were able to help each other. That's the beauty in this story.

Anyways, if you are looking for something to watch - I recommend 'See You on Venus' on Netflix

see you on venus was SO bad.

I watch a lot of movies, and usually, I don't care to inform the public about my taste, but GOOD LORD. See You On Venus (SYV) was really bad.

(SPOILERS after cut)

and because my brain to tired for anything other than lists, here are my lists.

Good:

Beautiful setting

Actually happy mc, who understands the concept of worldview

Deals with death/hard topics

Meet cute

Mc has a heart condition

The faux ending (it should have been real--)

Bad:

the male lead. Bro why do you look like Jacob from twilight in budget with a resting bitcher face and [words not said cause no hate to the actor lol]

The female lead. No other words needed

The lack of maturity for 18 year olds, ESPECIALLY an 18 year old who has lived in 12 houses as a foster kid.

The lack of parents being parents. All representatives for parents (sans foster mom) were HOT TRASH

Cringe

The walking away from a conversation, just to come back and apologize but not really

Not one, not two, but three almost kisses before the real one

Female mc putting more work into the relationship than the male mc. [He could have tried a little more]

the hospital escape (ok, this one might be on the neutral list LMAO)

The storyline being too afraid to kill female mc

there is more I promise. All in all, it was a very cutsie movie that dealt with death, but ended up in a not fulfilling conclusion about dying, and a cringey parallel to Venus and heaven. Or maybe not, either way I think it was stupid.

I have done no research, but I feel like this would be an ok book? Like as a book plot it's fine, but it's so flimsy for anything other than a 7-9th grade romance book

Anywho I'm so tired.

There's something about dating Dick that makes you feel so... Pretty.

Sure, other partners have made you feel pretty before, but one quite like Dick has.

It's the little things, really.

It's 12pm. You've over slept by a pretty wide margin. You're in this muumuu that's slightly too big for you, having been handed down to you by your mom after she got new ones. You're bare faced, bonnet on, unpampered. Hell, you haven't even brushed your teeth yet.

But Dick is looking at you. He's dressed for the day, halfway out the door for work. But he's frozen. He's staring.

"Good afternoon, gorgeous." He says so breathlessly it's like you can see the hearts in his eyes. "Breakfast is in the fridge."

He closes the door behind himself, already removing his shoes again in the small entryway.

"You're gonna be late for-"

"Can I kiss you? Fuck sorry, that was uncouth. What were you saying?"

Your heart gives an especially hard beat.

Normally you hate to be interrupted, but this feels weirdly good for some reason...? It's hard not to feel wanted, sexy, when he looks at you like that.

"You're going to be late for work, baby."

Dick smiles, placing your hand in his before you've registered he's even crossing the room.

"This is more important. Kiss me?"

"But I haven't-"

"Don't care. Kiss me, please?"

You lean in, and he pulls you closer, meeting you in the middle. The kiss is deep, eager. His hands are roaming around your back like he can't figure out where to place them. Like every part of you is more perfect than the last, and he just can't choose what he wants to touch the most.

You could almost swear there's a tiny tremor in his fingers. It's hard to feel while he grips the fabric of your nightie.

"Didn't mean to jump you like that." Dick murmurs when he pulls back. "You're just so- fuck- I don't know. Pretty isn't a good enough word."

You pull him back in, swiping your tongue over his lips.

Because really, you can settle for pretty. Pretty is good.
