Ok so how does one MAKE a tabletop game because this is something I want to try!! Are there good references out there for non-d20 systems or how to balance mechanics yourself?

oooh, hell yeah! honestly the big thing is to just do it, unlike board and video games the gap between idea and execution in ttrpgs is incredibly narrow, so if youve got an idea just start writing stuff down and see where it starts pulling you, where it feels like something's missing, find what excites you and what you feel isn't working. but that's not very specific, so let's get into it!

first off, read games! read weird games! there's tons of free ttrpgs on itch, lots of people sharing their work here and on other social media, there's 200 word rpgs here and here, and lots of system reference documents written specifically for people looking to hack games. reading other games is a great way to enrich your work whether you're building systems from scratch or working in an existing framework, because every game you read will show you a new way of approaching design problems.

on that note, draw inspiration outside of ttrpgs too! i pull a lot from video, board, and card games in my work, as well as poetry, novels, movies, etc etc etc. im autistic, and ive spent a lot of my life thinking about and dissecting unwritten social rules, so that's another big source of material for me. take your passions, whatever they may be, and put them in your work!

next up, think about the core of your game, sometimes called the minimum viable product. this is whatever the fundamental idea at the heart of your work is, and it's important to keep in mind because it keeps you from spiraling down unnecessary tangents. the core of your game can change, don't get me wrong! in fact, it likely will. what you want to do isn't prevent your work from growing and changing, but have a point of light you can always refer back to and ask "is what im doing important to this game?" you might be surprised by what you find isn't actually as important as you thought at first, and what turns out to be vital to the experience you're going for.

next up, once you start working, don't throw things away. if youre working in a word processor or google docs, it can help to have a section at the bottom of your document that you copy anything youd otherwise delete into. i do the same with my Affinity documents, ill have a few pages i dont export to store all my scraps. i know other folks who keep a dedicated scraps document that they use across projects. whatever works for you! the reason you do this is twofold: it makes it easier to cut things if you know you can always put it back later if you change your mind, and it gives you a lot of raw material that you can pull from in the future. months or years from now, you might find yourself looking to fill a gap in a new design and realize that some cool toy you set aside is exactly what you were looking for.

lastly, i wanna strongly encourage you to practice finishing things. that's often the hardest part for people, cuz we have a lot more experience starting projects than finishing them. here id like to once again direct you to 200 word rpgs, because that strict limit means you wind up with a finished first draft really quickly, and the rest of it is polishing and editing. once you've finished some bite-sized projects, you'll have a better idea of what it entails, what parts you're good at and what parts you struggle with, when to keep working and when to cut yourself off. i find it really helpful to add arbitrary limitations and deadlines on my work because that helps me push myself to finish something when otherwise i'd just keep adding and tweaking, but you'll find what works best for you!

Shadow High series 3 my new beloved

I didnt even like most of em until i saw them in person, but the knowledge that they'll probably never be in the show has my brain in a "well its free realestate" kinda mood

-i like to pretend Rainbow High/Shadow High are actually Rainbow University/Shadow University cuz im in art college Right Now and i think it makes more sense with the whole dorm room situation. And also major makes more sense than focus IMO

-I changed Pinkie's major from film to just undeclared. I think she eventually does land on Film. She just has a lot of interests! Her dream has always been to one day direct films, and I think she comes to love them even more while developing ideas her with the group as she winds up in a Director/Producer position for most of them. BUT also every time she takes a class in a different program she cant help but fall in love with that way of making art too. So she has a hard time picking for a while and changed her major a couple times before landing on Film.

-Pinkie and Berrie bond a lot over a shared interest in vocal synths (tho Berrie knows more about them than her).

-The two made Pinkie's vtuber model together!

-the fandom wiki says PJ is from germany?? Idk how canon that is tbh but ive decided to embrace it i guess

-Rooney's canon name is Scarlet Rose, but i thought it was kinda lame especially when Rosie Redwood is also in this line sooo I renamed her! Stuck to the color name puns tho. Mar Rooney. Maroon. Haha

-Speaking on her though i love that shes from texas and likes writing scifi mystery type stuff and that being said i just Know deep in my bones that she was a Voltron Legendary Defender fan and Keith was/is 100% her favorite. She has a continued fondness for mothman specifically cuz of this.

-PJ and Rooney actually talk about fandom and shows/movies ALL the time. They dont have a ton of overlapping interests, but where they do? The two literally never shut up.

-Rosie is such a random character, like outside of her design she feels very poorly considered. So I scrapped the cosmetology thing and made her an illustrator instead! I think it works better with her love of making art in nature. I can see her being really into illustrated guide books. I think shes a bit snooty when it comes to art too. It takes being friends with other artists to become more open minded.

-I like the idea that Rosie is mainly friends with Rooney and Berrie ontop of that. The three of them often tag team storylines and how theyd interpret them into different mediums. Rosie will draw up a bunch of concept stuff while Rooney writes up a pitch bible and Berrie will start making shit move and throwing in her own ideas on camera angles and character designs.

-as an animation major Berrie was required to take a sound design class early on, which is where she met Oliver! Hes very laid back, and likes to go with the flow, but functions a little like the "mom" of the group. Often reminding the girls to take breaks, drink water, stop looking at their screens lest they get eye strain etc. He's multi-talented tbh but Music is his one true passion and he likes how the girls are always giving him collaboration opportunities.

-Oliver and Rosie like to talk sports a lot, both having played a bunch when they were younger and throughout high school.

-Lavender Lynn is Oliver's number one "person who needs constant reminders to settle down" she is in a constant buzz of trying to get the best shots and is utterly obsessed with the process of artistic documentation. Everything must be documented.

-the whole school loves her for this actually, she has a whole side gig where other students hire her to help photograph their projects. She saves everything she earns from this for her future dream plans to visit paris. She has it set really, many of the artists who she helps photograph now will remain steadfast clients of hers forever onward.

-PJ and Lynn actually took a print media class together at one point. Which didnt at the time spark an everlasting friendship. But it did give PJ an easier in to ask for Lynn's help documenting a project the group was working on. One of Lynn's first times photographing them work happened to fall on a day where Rosie had planned to trick everyone into going on a nature walk sans devices... Lynn wound up really appreciating this outing and decided to continue hanging around the group even after that project had ended.

I am an amateur so idk how useful this info is but Here (dumps everything)

The emotes were made in Krita (any art software will work)

The canvas size was around 1000 x 1000 pixels

Starting out, doing a basic emotion sheet works well. Watching other PNGtuber videos helps you organize how many you may need and what emotions are used the most (expect to make 30 or more drawings, which is A LOT at first, and might take a couple weeks, but once you have them you can use them forever!)

Also start your video even if you're still working on emotes! It helps to sorta do everything at once :)

This grid doesn't cover everything I used (it was a very messy process) but it might be useful so here :)

I think its also a good idea to make a "base" and then mess with expressions from there. This one had a lot of usability. (and also a lot of layers)

Later on I found it most useful to listen to the stuff I recorded, and then make a drawing for that moment specifically. You can then apply that "emotion" to other places where it fits

this is probably my favorite example because i based the expression off King Candy LOL. USING REFERENCES IS FUN !!!!!!!!! And I ended up using this one a lot !

Also expect a lot of rejected designs and struggling w drawing expressions because it's Hard. Developing the style you want takes a lot of time!! (I scrapped these 3 i made early on)

Exporting and YouTube processing was a little tricky but here’s what worked for me:

- I used Davinci Resolve to export the project. My video was made at 24fps, the same framerate as my footage. (The Movie) Earlier on, I kept noticing my audio was too loud and weird glitchy visual artifacts kept showing up. After trial and error I found these settings worked the best:

Main takeaway, i legit dont understand how any of this works but:

ITU-R BS.1770-4 normalization for audio is Good

Lower your finished audio track to -13.5dB. It will sound quiet, but YouTube likes this and will make it a normal volume (?? I THINK?? Do your own testing, my final video was kind of quiet but nobody commented on it so its fine as long as it's consistent)

H.265 encoding with .mov format (aka QuickTime) is Good

And that's probably enough infodumping for now. Its okay to feel overwhelmed and unsure where to start but making a video is SO FUN and i encourage it more than anything :))) Take your time and learn at your own pace! There are lots of great tutorials online.

I watched Jentry Chau vs the underworld it is an animation for older kids/tweens/teens (but of course if you are older it you can totally like it too give it a chance ;)) and i really recommend it

Great soundtrack with kpop/pop, cool designs, girl hero with amazing fights and not being afraid to be girly but not in a stereotypical way in a more realistic way in general( i love how we have one more option), comedy and serious, complex and charismatic characters, interessing mythology, amazing visuals, protagonist has a great sense of style.

It was one of the best cartoon series i have seen in the last 10 years and IS A ORIGINAL

With the current state of the animation industry( especially as someone who wants to work with animation and doesnt have a strong industry of it around myself seeing places with a strong industry struggling is a special kinda of agonizing for an anxious person), the streamings and honestly life in general i wasn't sure i was gonna get a cartoon series like that again( i love movies but i grew up on series and the format holds a special place in my heart) unfortunally streamings dont help animated series heck the format of series in general is suffering... Honestly it gave me hope for projects in the future

Also I'M SO HAPPY IT DOESN'T END ON A CLIFFHANGER!(streamings please take notes another hope)

My only criticisms are michael and his girlfriend especially when together were not that explored. Especially michael i feel like i missed some episodes about him? also Ed sometimes is TOO much in a not good way especially when using social media( and his character isnt estabilished as stupid to justify it in my opinion) but the rest let me get through these moments

ok so this is the beginning of what came to be known as the "double date dimension" or "dinner date dimension". i shared a screencap of me adding the line about ritsu suggesting that he and shou have a double date with whoever asked mob out and the Knowers (a groupchat i started with two of my friends i made as mentally ill as me about this fic) went "this would be the most uncomfortable dinner ever can you imagine" and just kept expanding it until it sort of turned into a sitcom universe version of smtwo. dont be surprised if you see this fanfiction at some point in the future

more from the double date dimension where mob invites ritsu to a halloween party without telling him its a claw company halloween party. teru and mob go in matching costumes as the flying dead pig and the pigeon whos eyes the movie is told from (i snuck in a reference to this bc its too funny to me). takenaka goes as "book accurate frankenstein" because hes too lazy to make a costume. mob gets unbelievably wasted on jungle juice because no one told him the punch was spiked.

agreed completely with last anon. i think the problem is, or at least what could have caused all of these misunderstandings and miscommunications, is that the truth is that Hussie has never been really good at writing character arcs, what he IS good at is at writing memorable characters with unique voices and visually appealing simple designs. and that's because, technically, he somewhat stole them from other media or started from referencing character tropes from old movies, homestuck has always been a mix of many different 80-90s media. so for example, the humans are stereotypical movie/comic characters (john= dorky nerd protag, dave = cool best friend, rose = snarky goth, jade = girl next door), and that's what makes the audience instantly like them, because they are familiar, but, at the time, modernized in a way that was actually entertaining with in-depth interests, different viewpoints, and funny chemistry. it's all that has worked for years concentrated in an easy to digest mold that gave it the potential to be something more than usual. and yet, john, jade and rose had ZERO character growth, dave had negative and became a fucking douchebag, and these four don't even act like friends anymore by the end of the story. what the fuck.

it also happened with the trolls, because as i said before, how did the "chosen one" character that was said to be caring and the second coming of christ ended up as admiring the tyrannical ruler that genocided his race and did nothing afterwards except be dave's sidepiece and never talking to his friends again. who the fuck would like that for a conclusion to his story? there is nothing satisfying about it, why should i now be invested in Karkat in hs2, if he is a bad friend with bad morals that ends up amounting to nothing? Hussie wrote that i shouldn't, that's what i get for assuming real people have character arcs, karkat was never meant to be a leader, but sea hitler jr, meenah, sure was.

that's what makes it unlikable and what causes disconnect between fans. he subverted not only the trope, but also the little character building he himself wrote, and ended up with confusing themes. he didn't do the hard job of keeping a consistent structured plot until the end, he just applied twists as convenient to act smugly cynical about it afterwards, like he's allergic to sincerity. you also see this with how he treated johnrose/davejade or karezi, or how he says davekat and now june were always meant to happen all along.

and so, what some fans like about karkat or dave, for example, is not what they actually achieved or did in the source story, because they ended up with nothing and also their wiki page was too long to read, but the fandom idealization of them. and that's how you get the wildly ooc dialogue you see in hs2, the writers see nothing wrong with this, dont understand how to separate their personal bias from these characters or what was actually appealing about them in the first place, and what we end up with are projections of who THEY would like to see in a story: characters that act like the writers themselves. hollow self-centered assholes with no sense of humour disconnected from reality that communicate via twitter memes, therapy speak, and the trendy political issue of the day, all so they can pat each other on the back and feel better about amounting to very little in life too, now with semi-canonical homestuck facepaint on.

sorry for the armchair psychology, but my conclusion is, what closure i try to give myself from this shitpile of a franchise, is to view it as a cautionary tale of caving to social pressure and treating people that find value in your work like shit. homestuck ended in a very unsatisfying way for many, and it continues to get worse because it's easier to call someone a bigot and double down on your beliefs than concede you made a mistake, wasted so much time and have no idea how to fix it.

Yes to everything said here! Say it loud for everyone to hear! I dislike when Hussie or people use the excuse that he was just SUBVERTING expectations. Not questioning on why even built it up in the first place if it meant NOTHING at all. It's a complete waste of time. And not in an ironic sense. A waste of time and emotion audiences felt before being slapped in the face and kicked in the balls for even caring. Like, I know Hussie is known for trolling. He made himself as this asshole-but-likeable persona for some time even prior to Homestuck. Sadly, this is probably one of the few times it wouldn't have worked if it means damaging your reputation in the long run. And I don't mean the edge humor he throws into the comic. I mean the treatment towards his fans where there's not much genuine sincerity and it's all asshole mode that it's hard to tell if it's joking or truly being hostile. He could have said he would like to be left alone, but perhaps pride and fame got in the way for him to say that. Even when it was the large amount of fans that made him feel pressured in the first place. I don't know how James or anyone in the team can really fix this mess without addressing problems people had with the series overtime. And not just stuff from Epilogues or Homestuck^2, but address things that were never answered or felt anticlimactic from the base webcomic.

Hey animal crossing tumblr! I'm new to the tumblr and I'd love your help with the animal crossing project im doing. I want every villager that is in pocket camp but doesn't have a cookie yet, to be given a cookie with a concept. You can help out by helping me with the concepts and comment ideas.

Collecting cookies is my favourite part of the game. Seeing the animals interact with the furniture from dancing at a ball to bathing in a luxurious spa really makes the game so much fun. It made me actually sit down and realize how much animals weren’t given a cookie. So I made one for every animal that was missing one. edit: i gave up after 80 cookies xD. my brain is fried

I can’t drawn, sadly, I have been told I can write, so I will describe the idea as best as possible and I hope it’s enough.

Admiral= Admiral. The only idea I had for admiral was going to be a old vintage wooden ship, and uhm a bit pirates of the caribbean like, but from the bad guys (so i guess the navy) p.o.v xD. There would be wigs and spy glasses you can hold in your hand and map rugs and villagers can spin the world globe…which wasnt invented yet but shhh. (that was around that time when folks realized, hold up, this thing is round not flat)

Agent S=Agent S is i think a perfect fit for undercover stuff. So think about gadgets. Villagers can fly with a jetpack, they can roll under lasers at the 5 star vault to break in so to speak, and there are some sleek outfits in this collection. Inspired by totally spies and action movies alike, this set is sure to blow your socks off. (not literally)

AI=Al’s binge cookie. Cuddle up with a cozy blanket, and expierence home comfort like never before with the Binge cookie. Watching series is what he does best, so expect comfortable new media inspired pyjamas (k.k slyder on the print, or the iconic animal crossing leaf pattern) a popcorn maker and a soda machine. There’s also a lounge couch where six villagers can sit on, so you can gather together to watch that one show with your favourite friends

Alice= Alice is going to be a creative one. It is going to relate to a modern art theme. You can watch villagers paint with the new furniture, watch them react to new statues and wear chique new modern clothing. New furniture is also going to be very modern pop-art like, so imagine bright colours and weird designs like a candypop shaped chair.

Ali=Ali is a fairytale cookie from the fairytale of the snow queen. Picture a new snowy dress, a snow castle made of ice and handheld items that let your villagers cast real ice magic. You can also imagine the colours blue, purple, and dark green to be used a lot.

Anabella=Anabella would like to open her own bed and breakfast! You can now collect parts of her cozy furniture and decorate your campsite to fit the theme. The furniture will mostly be british countryside based with mostly white and beige colours, new kitchenette items like cooking stoves but also fitting decorations to make that bed and breakfast look amazing. You can expect two new outfits for the owner and can give villagers now small suitcases or bags depending on your preference. 

Anchovy=Anchovy’s fishy cookie. It comes with fishing furniture. Based on fishes, so you can have a sea bass table and a octopus chair. The outfits are fish onesies you can wear and the 5 star item is this large, aquarium that stands on the floor and villagers can kinda, hang above it a bit, leaning, looking into the water and smile at the fishes.

Agnus= Agnus Beef. He should get a cookie that allows you to and I am sorry for all cow villagers, open up a beef restaurant. It would not come with anything bloody, but imagine lovely rustic chairs and tables, with plaid tablecloths and lovely little glasses. It would be very cute. The 5 star cookie reward would be a mechanical bull your villagers can ride.  

Anicotti=Anicotti’s fashion boutique. This set is more about making clothes, rather then selling them like Bree’s lovely cookie. You will see villagers sewing at the tables, size each other up with size measurement labels and can expect some true True Jackson shenigagns from this cookie xD. (man that show was so long ago but so good) 5 star cookie reward will be a office table where your villagers can have a meeting, imagine space for 8 villagers max and you as the boss will stand beside it. It will be great for mulitple story telling purposes. Fashion is not unimportant as the outfits will be Anicotti approved

Ankha=Travel back to Ankha’s time with this unique cookie. Ankha has recently found a portal and has begun importing goods and clothing from her time. The villagers can be dressed in beautiful linen (common in that time) usually in white colours with bright gems and jewerly details (not so common, at least not for everyone) Imagine a sphinx statue that your villagers can talk to (it wont say much but sometimes they get a either ‘’blessed’’ or a ‘’cursed’’ face from it) The reward is a classical Feluccas. these beautiful boats have sailed the seas since the ancient times and can host up to 6 different villagers, all with different interactions. Someone will wave, another will raise a glass, and two are doing the famous titanic ‘’I am the king of the world’’ scene. xD  I have much love and appreciation for (Ancient) Egypt and I really tried to keep this respectful and accurate. I hope so, at least.  Except the titanic scene but thats just..that had to be there.xD

Annalise=Annelise’s cookie is going to be a hit for bridgerton fans. Shock, and delight, indeed my friends. The carriage is the 5 star reward that takes up around twenty space. ‘’WHAT SO MUCH?!’’ Yeah, because it drives around, in a small circle. The dresses are inspired by the netflix hit show but it wont be a official collab. I don’t know how the area is called but I do know its after Elizabeth I and before Elizabeth II XD. So, imagine ballgowns, uhm, dance floors in a more natural colour, high hats for gentlemen villagers, cakes that rotates and it opens and butterflies come out of it, as the villagers clap, and you have a podium where a villager can stand on, and up to six villagers can kneel around the stage, as if its a coronation. You can also change their emotions to make them look angry to make it look like a uprising xD. Just something I thought of. Yeah. Cute cookie:)

Antonio=Antonio’s run. Antonio’s cookie is going to be inspired by a pretty big sport events; Marathons. Imagine little fences, two kinds. You have one where two villagers can stand behind (imagine mom Annalisa and dad Julian cheering on their kid Filbert) ((ignore genetics, this is a example)) or one fence where one villager stands behind (awh, grandpa dobie came out to watch his grandson filbert! how cute!) the outfits will be two different sport outfits each with fitting numbers on the back like the person is actually participating in a marathon. You can also hold sports drinks. The special item is a ten spaces big running space where five villagers can run in, while three villagers cheer. It also comes with a villager with a camera doing a photo finish. ‘’...they use computers, nowadays…kath…’’ yeah, i know but imagine how cute it would be!! x

Astrid=Astrid’s paparazzi office. Get ready for scandal and socialites! Astrid has recently opened her own magazine, and she needs your help. Paparazzi comes with starlight spots, where you can put two villagers who might be dating and sitting on a bench, holding paws, and then another villager lies on the ground, next to a bush, taking photos. xD. This is the five star item. There are star spotlight separate items for example, there is one of a villager angry stomping you can put that down, and place a standalone of a paparazzi hiding close to it. There’s also a open paparazzi one, in case you want to create a movie premiere. Now you can. xD

Avery= Sheriff Cookie= Avery wants a classical cowboy cookie! There’s a new sheriff in town. Yes. YOU! There will be hats, of course and a very vintage old western style of furniture. The biggest one and I am sorry for liking this idea but you can imprison villagers in this small cell. One cell holds one villager, and, a villager can also interact with the prisoner. xD its so silly. 

Bam=Bam’s fire…animal cookie. Bam’s cookie is all about fires. And putting them out. You can now dress your animals as if part of the fire brigade, but you can do more than that. There are different small fires that can be interacted with and placed, and villagers if they decide to go to that, will try to put the fires out. Fires cannot expand on their own, or with a villager, and will naturally re-start when you leave the campsite or cabin, or go upstairs or to your garden. The 5 star item is a firetruck where two villagers can sit in, with sirens on. A 3th villager can be seen clutching to the ladder on the roof, like some superhero xD (do not do this at home!)

Benedict: Benedict would like to open a diner. Not any diner. A chicken themed diner. So there’s a chicken mascot suit, chicken themed chairs, and chicken themed tables. For the 5 star item, there is this item that allows your villagers to fly up (wearing a chicken suit) and fly around a bit. It is quite the spectual. The design, …it’s gonna look red and black and white like a KFC. XD i am sorry.

Bertha=Bertha dreams of having her own library. You can expect small carts with books that can be pushed one block by a villager. There is also a interactive bookcase wall, where a villager can walk to and take out a book, for example. There is also another interactive one, where they will shelf the book. The 5 star item is a library café counter.

Big top=Big top offers a unique cookie in the way of racing. He likes racing and you can expect more cars, a 5 star bonus circuit where two villagers can race against each other, and other car related items in this cookie.

Bill= Bill’s cookie is about a extreme sport. Bungy jumping. You can now place special rocks in your campsite or your cabin, or special bridges and watch your villagers jump down the rocks and the bridges. The ropes will always be tied properly, and no animals were injured.

Billy= Billy wants to have a barber shop. It will be old fashioned, imagine 1920s ish with decoration, but also a mix with modern furniture. Animals can sit in front of the big mirror or chair or drink coffee on the couch, enjoy a magazine or a cookie. The 5 star item will be a hairsalon cap that can be placed over a villager’s head as in city …let’s go to the city. The animals hair won’t change, but sometimes they will get up happy and sometimes they will get up crying xD. 

Bitty= Bitty dreams of having a adorable hippo enclosure. Imagine a hippo suit. A hippo couch. A hippo bed. The 5 star item will be a hippo enclosure where a small hippo walks around, screaming angrily. (You know who this is) The vibes will be brown with pink. It will be den. Dare I say…Moo-deng?

Bones: He has a bone to pick with you (I’ve been waiting a hour for that one) Bones wants to find his favourite bone he buried in the garden and he needs your help. During digging, he found some…interesting things. Like a lovely skeleton that is armed with a sword, two skeletons that can stand as guards and a very mysterious casket that can open…on its own. The 5 star item will be a bone related item where the player can summon visions with the bones. Imagine a spooky, skeleton set for this cookie. Not too much like we had, like its a shade darker. Maybe too dark, but I’ll leave that up to you.

Boomer= Boomer’s cookie is about him running a modern pc store. He had it with these youngsters and their pear phones and their dumbwatches and their xswitches and nintenstations. He wants to know what the hype is about so he decided: Let me open my own store that way I’ll surely learn. Nope. xD. You can expect modern computers, laptops, desks, chairs, and a repair desk (premium 5 star item) to be added along with a uniform for the store. The repair desk will be two animals. One is the client, the other the worker. The worker will have the phone, and checks this. Sometimes the animal will smile, it is fixed. Sometimes, the animal will drop the phone on accident. whoops. and another time, the worker can’t figure out what’s wrong with it, so they smash it on the ground and jump on it. xD

Boone= Boone has a new hobby: Pottery! You can get messy floors or pottery stations where one villager can work at. The outfits will be aprons to avoid your clothes getting dirty and also there are several pottery art works, like Tom Nook or Isabelle in clay. You can also expect a bigger pottery station where two villagers can work together to create something beautiful.  

Boots= Boots has a beautiful store together with Kicks. Furniture items will be store related things, but also boot related things. Imagine a giant boot sign or a rack with shoes. Villagers can sit on special stools and will put on new shoes, trying them out. the 5 star premium item is a check-out counter where the villager is handed a boot-shaped bag with their purchase.

Boris= Boris’ cookie is going to be a very interesting one. You can now dress with cloaks, sharp teeth and sleep in a casket. Yes, vampire cookie is here. The cookie will have dark/red theme for the furniture. There won’t be blood in it, but there will be tomato juice packages so you can have that aesthetic, so to speak. Interactive objects: There is a casket that one villager can lay in, to sleep, and another villager can open it. The villager who is sleeping will scare the villager who woke them. There is a dark, crimson red, glass dancing floor where the undead villagers can dance. Likely to be the 5th star premium item.

Boyd= Boyd’s cookie will be a cookie where you can get expierence with the archery set. Your villagers can carry around bows and shoot with arrows at practice targets. The premium item will be a rotating target that a villager can shoot at with the bow. Items will be looking scottish and brave-like.

Brofina=Broffina’s dream is to begin a Pharmacy. (Her name already sounds like a medicine) You can find store related items with shelfs filled with shampoo for example or bottles with vitamines. There are chairs your villagers can sit in, these are special chairs that make your villagers sniffle or look a bit ill. The special item is a counter where a sniffling villager can get medication in a cute bag.

Bruce=Bruce’s music cookie. Bruce dreams of making a rock band and he needs your help. More furniture in blue, dark colours and also electric guitars and now also a piano. You can line the stages up to create a band. It is very familiar to Cherry’s cookie, but this one is more blue themed. (if they can recycle concepts, so can i)

Buck=Buck’s horse ranch cookie. This cookie comes with ranch furniture and darker versions of that, alongside a horse onesie and a interactable carousel horse. 

Bud= Bud dreams of being a swimwear model. The idea of this cookie is to have items to create your perfect beach shoot. Camera’s, towels, and bikni’s, but also surfwear. You can see villagers pose with surfboards, lay on towels and even do tricks on the ‘’fake wave’’ a electronic wave creator where they can experience a moment of fame on their boards xD. 

Buzz= Buzz cookie is all about space. You can create a NASA office with this set. You have computers where villagers can be put behind, who look very seriously and there is also a big tv following the launch of the rocket. The set also has a monitor where two operators are sitting, who have contact with another villager. They will cheer.

Camofrog= It’s time to shape up and get up! Camofrog’s bootcamp is here. You can now climb, crawl, and experience the hardships of the camofrog bootcamp. There is this net villagers need to crawl under, wooden things they need to climb over, and a full training track. Your villagers will be in tip top shape! 

Candi= Candi dreams of opening her own candi shop. Cute and sweet mix in this store concept. You have big shelfs with candy pots and also a place where villagers can pick their own candy and put it in a bag. There is also a cute uniform and a adorable new window where villagers look from the outside, inside longingly at the sweets they see.

Carmen= The cookie for Carmen will be about diamond painting. You will see new decorated and paintings like classic rembrants now with diamonds. The diamond painting hobby can be popular under villagers. Your 5 star item will be a group table where four villagers can work at their diamond paintings (all different paintings) and theres also a three star variant with just one villager place. There is also a gigantic shimmering teddybear with diamonds. 

Caroline=Cozy sleepover. You can now sleepover in style. You will find sleeping wear and sleep bags as well as classical pyjama party items. The special item will be a couch where two villagers are pillow fighting. 

Cashmere= The cookie of Cashmere is one close to my heart. Everyone knows the story of the Wicked Mutton of the West. But do we know her story at all? This set will be green/pink items befitting any witchling or anyone looking to cry their hearts out after seeing a certain movie.

Cheplabot= The Unforgettable Findings of set (UFO) is the set inspired by Chep’s beautiful and questionable heritage. Where did he come from? Is he truly an alien? This set explores new space related items in the light of aliens. You can expect more rocket ship items, but also alien related things. ‘’Vague.’’ hmhm. You can for example, get a beam of light, you can place, like a spotlight. If your villager stands in it, they will float, as if being dragged to the sky, and a ufo will appear. xD. There is also a cow onesie. Cows and ufos go hand in hand. they know something.  

Chabwick= Canadian ice hockey set. Imagine like goals, and ice where villagers can play hockey on. There are uniforms and benches so other villagers can cheer the four playing villagers on. 

Chadder=Chadder has a strange cookie. Chadder is cheese as we all know so his cookie is just a cheese store. ‘’That’s not a real thing.’’ I assure you, it is-A dutch woman xD. So imagine furniture made of cheese and also store items. The 5 item special is a wheel of cheese as big as a villager, and a villager like rolls it around. xD

Charlise=Charlise’s therapeutic cookie. Charlise wants to help others with this cookie. This cookie offers a talking chair, a listening chair, different boxes of tissues and just warm hugs and vibes. (i went to therapy myself and i would never shame anyone for needing this. this is meant to be a reminder that you can and should always put yourself first and ask for help. you don’t need to prove to anyone or anything but yourself. this is not me mocking this, this is not me making jokes, this is just me hoping that if this is put in the game, people would open their options more. give it a chance, maybe. idk. If it can make a difference, its worth the try)

Claude= He just seems like the guy who would run his own newspaper company. Like imagine it a bit retro, big printing presses and there is this redaction with large trenchcoats and hats looking for scoops and news. I can imagine there would be a desk with a chair that a villager can type stories on, on the type writer and there is also a interview station where two villagers can sit, and one will take notes every now and then, nodding as the other talks. The premium item is a printing press where a villager is changing the ink.

Claudia=She has her own bridal boutique cookie. You can pick out wedding dresses here. The items are in slight blush pink and very pale white. There is this pedestal where a villager will stand on and try on dresses. You can assign a crying couch to it (comes with the cookie) so that it looks like the villager’s entourage is so moved by their beautiful dress that they had to shed a tear..or just sob. xD

Clyde=Clyde has a fun idea for a cookie and its all about science. You can now put your animals in labcoats and put lab stations around your campsite, and watch your animals experiment. The premium item is a lab that shoots off fireworks.

Cobb= ‘’It’s alive!’’ Yes. That book. You can now play as the famous doctor who made frankenstein. You can assign bolts and creepy clothes to your animals, and the premium item will be this metal table where a villager is sleeping on. Another villager will be standing nearby, flipping a switch and the sleeping villager will wake up. The villager with the switch will laugh diabolically. The other items are very scientific creepy like jars with liquids and stuff. Perfect for halloween. Maybe not for all ages xD.

Coco=Coco’s dreamtravel. You can see coco’s adventures in this cookie. Your villagers can buy her furniture which allows them to visit a spooky crypt, dance in a palace or pay tribute to a temple.

Cole= Cole’s cookie is all about mining for stones. You can expect mine carts, stones, gems and more in this set. there is a item where two villagers push a mine cart, and also there is a three tile big item that is a minecart where a villager sits in, enjoying themselves as they are rolling down xD

Coustau= Cousteau will be a french inspired restaurant with luxury chandeliers gilded tablecloths. In the chandeliers, it is possible to hang one up where your villager can swing around in, like that scene in Dumbo’s live action movie.

Cube=Cube’s baywatch cookie. Cube is responsible for beach safety. Imagine red bathing suits, and also villagers running in slow motion. it is all possible now. There will be a rug that works as a interactable place where villagers will run into one direction, in slow motion. You can aim this at the beach to create dramatic scenes. The premium item will be a lifeguard jetski where the villager preforms a trick on.

Curly=Curly’s fairytale cottage. The cottage is inspired by the fairytale of the three pigs. You have cozy fairytale furniture and clothing. The 5 star object is a door that can be kicked down.

Now your villagers can dress up in fandom gear and write fanfictions, and stare longingly at posters you display around your camp. There also could be a incident as two jealous villagers might fight in a small circle for who the better fan is. 

Cyrano= The world of westreling really interests Cyrano. His cookie comes with a wrestling spot so two of your villagers can clumsily battle it out. You can also expect decorations and furniture befitting this theme. No excessive violence will be used.

Deena=Deena’s cookie is all about red shoes. The red shoes are placeable and wearable, (two different pairs, but it will look the same pair) if villagers chooses to interact, they will dance with these shoes, and dance a long time. If your villagers wear them because you assigned them as outfits, they won’t. This is based on a fairytale, the red shoes.

Del=Del’s cookie is a interior store where villagers can buy cheap but good furniture for their homes. Expect uniforms, new swedish furniture options and villagers stocking shelfs with items. The premium item will be a villager pushing a shopping cart with another villager in it.

Deli=Deli’s cookie will be a nail studio. You can have your nails done her. Villagers can be seated and attended to, and there are also facial masks to enjoy. The premium item is a villager who is applying nails on another villager.

Derwin= Derwin’s cookie is a expetion cookie where there are tents and investigation stuff. There is also a lot of polar bears in the cookie. The main item is a plastic polar bear that villagers can mount.

Diva=Diva’s cookie is very chique, very gold and black and very 007. Expect that glamour and drama of a james bond film, complete with a explosive scene (premium item) and bond clothes. not a official collab.

Elise=Elise has a optician store where she helps animals with their sight. You can pick new glasses here. The interaction items will be sitting space and counters and the premium item will be a villager who tries on glasses.

Elmer=Elmer’s cat and donkey cookie. Based on the fairytale. You can now find cat and donkey items in this cookie. The items vary from boots and hats and capes to a statue of a donkey that hicks up money.

Faith=Faith’s tropical cruise. You can expect items worthy of the seven seas in this cookie. New loungewear as well as furniture and also a small bubblebath so your villagers can enjoy some bubbles.

So, I noticed that Tinker-the-dragon showed you storyboards of their own animatic (which looks great btw, can't wait to see it), and since you said you enjoyed seeing the process, I figured I'd do the same! After all, having people acknowledge and get excited for my WIPs gives me a sense of accountability to finish it, which makes it much more likely to actually get done.

So, behold my chaotic, colorful rough sketches!

The process is slow-going, since I am simultaneously working on a couple other creative projects, some are tangentially related to this one (like how I'm finalizing my headcanon designs for all the turtles beyond just Donnie), and some aren't (like drawing long overdue art of my D&D party's characters).

I'm also making some guesses/taking some liberties when it comes to the timeline. Like, I'm assuming that this AU takes place post S2 finale, and thus will take place in the new lair, but I don't actually know. (If this has been addressed in asks before, I'm probably too new of a fan of SnapDonnie to have paid attention to those asks, and don't have the attention span to scroll through a ton of asks just to obtain a specific bit of information)

Similarly, I don't know exactly at what point Donnie starts attracting flies. It might not be as early as I'm depicting here. I can certainly move that part to a later section, but I don't know what I'd replace it with.

In general, if you have suggestions for things to be changed/switched around to better fit with the 'canon' of SnapDonnie, I'd love to hear it. It's better to make changes now while things are still very rough and flexible, than once I'm more committed and frames have taken quite a bit more effort to make.

Also to answer your questions- SnapDonnie takes please after the movie, So Raph has a blind eye and hole in his shell/plastron, Mikey has his scars (though u cant drawing them in bandages to aviod drawing them if i want -i always forget to draw them lol) and Leo has a leg brace.

And as for the flies, Donnie starts to attract them basically immediately once the physical changes start, though he basically douses himself with insect repellent at first (while he still wants to repel them) So frames 24 and 25 would go after he really starts to change instead of before.

when i was a kid i was really attached to the pokemon anime and i remember that one episode about the charmander being left all alone in the rain, and then being saved by ash and given a chance to recover, i remember projecting so hard onto it and wanting to be given that chance as well, to have someone save me like that. anyways, your art has always made me Feel Things, theres a very sentimental quality to your art and the way you design characters. i connect a lot with your sadder stuff as well. youre very good at storytelling in your work, especially that piece with ray about wanting to return to the places in your childhood but not ever experiencing them the same way. man, you hit that feeling right on the head.

anyways, where was i going with this. i struggle a lot with trying to reclaim some parts of my childhood, it took me a lot to even remember that i projected so much onto that charmander. but seeing a pikachu be so.. i dont know, happy about connecting with pokemon so much, it just, it means a lot to me. i used my imagination as escapism and id like to try and reconnect with it. i am using your art as a guide and as inspiration.. i feel like i can get close to that again.

I honestly forget ppl ever see my more sad/melancholy drawings, I wasn’t expecting it to affect me so hard hearing someone mention it xD Drawing is one of the few vessels I can properly channel my emotions with, and there’s a lot more raw stuff I don’t share online. I never know if the catharsis I feel drawing the Heavier stuff translates, because I still center those drawings around silly animals xD

I’m so happy you were able to rediscover your connection with Ash’s charmander!! That episode always made me emotional too 💔 I can’t say where my lifelong fixation on Pikachu really began, but my mom told me that even before I engaged with anything pkmn related, I was just immediately enamored by seeing it at a store or on TV xD

Eventually she took me to see Pokémon 4ever in theaters, and I vaguely remember being instantly ENCHANTED by the little short movie before the actual film began. Those animated shorts of Pikachu with all its friends, no humans attached, were always this ultimate comfort fantasy for me to watch xD

As my identity and personality fluctuates, I always find it comforting being grounded in my connection to Pikachu. The episode where it refused to evolve stuck with me on a deep level too haha.

I’m still not sure what to call the high school au i shared with you but I have a few ideas that I came up with :3

Daisey and Eddie in this au are legitimately just Nicole and Jecka from Class of 09

Eddie and Daisey have matching flower hairpins, red and purple :)

Eddie still wears it, Daisey keeps it in their pocket and refuses to admit they still wear it at home

The two of them are still stuck sitting next to each other in some classes, so that’s something. Daisey still doesn’t talk to him in class and they usually just pair up with other people for projects

Daisey, in the first few days after their fight before meeting their new friends, was mostly just walking around and doing thing alone. Like, sitting alone at lunch, ditching class to stay in the library, stuff like that

I can see Daisey befriending Wallace, and he’s the one that ends up introducing them to Holly, Kiko, and Andreas. They all collectively looked at this little wet cat and said “yeah this is our buddy now”

Daisey was already goth but didn’t express it too much, but after joining their new friend group they started expressing it more with their clothing and music taste

theyre very crafty and dabble in basically every form of art. music, graffiti, painting, sculpting (mainly with trash or scraps or random discarded items he finds, more on that later on), sewing, whatever. if he can learn to do it she will.

much like last year some fuller thoughts on many of the films i watched under the cut

aight so the new film i watched that i liked the most was beyond a shadow of doubt late night with the devil. i watched it three times this october. i saw it and then tied everyone i knew to a chair and made them watch it with me too. fucking insane movie. i really really really really liked it and you should go watch it.

there were two films that made me actively mad while i was watching them and they were winnie the pooh blood and honey and beetlejuice beetlejuice. i thought blood and honey would at least be funny and to be fair in some places it was kinda funny but it was mostly just frustrating and boring. every single moment of action or tension is dragged on to pad the runtime to the point that the suspense gets beaten to death with a brick. there's also only pooh and piglet in the winnie the pooh horror movie which was a tad disappointing. further more there was so much gratuitous t&a in that movie i felt like i was watching something from 20 years ago. i get gratuity is still a thing in low budget horror but jesus christ dude

beetlejuice beetlejuice would have made me less mad if it was completely terrible all the way through but no a fair bit of the comedy still landed, the set and costume design were still spectacular, the score was good. but i hated sooooo much of the writing. i hated seeing jenna ortega on screen because every second she's on camera all you can smell is wb executives cumming themselves over casting "wednesday the tv series" as lydia's daughter for that sweet sweet "nostalgia + young actress relevant with The Youth". i thought making lydia into a sensationalist paranormal tv personality was stupid, i thought handwaving the maitlands out of the movie entirely was stupid, i thought giving beetlejuice a concrete backstory was stupid, there's a lot i could complain about but it should frankly be its own post.

m3gan was surprisingly really fun, the menu was UNsurprisingly really fun, chronicle was a movie i'd wanted to watch since i was a kid and i have kinda mixed feelings on it but overall i thought it was pretty neat if a bit hamfisted at times.

i didnt intend to watch 3 vhs movies im not crazy about the series but im nostalgic for the first 2 i guess. they were also anthologies so if i was running out of time in the day to watch my movie i could pop one on finish a segment then do the rest in the morning. i forgot the first segment of vhs2 entirely wow it sucks. novel concept but it sucks

the black phone was just aight to be it was a neat concept and it was well shot but i dont think it was an all timer like ive seen so many people insist. like i enjoyed it dgmw i think it was a good movie.

the haunting hour dont think about it is a movie i loved as a kid but watching it as an adult it is exactly what i wanted pooh blood and honey to be: astonishingly and HILARIOUSLY bad. i was high and laughing the entire way through the movie. i loved teen emily osment in her goth girl outfit crying and staring at the ceiling while listening to like royalty free emo music on her ipod. i loved the monster puppet looking cool and yucky but having a really limited range of motion so when it "devours itself" at the end of the movie one head just kinda clumsily bites the other until it flashes and explodes into yellow goo. so much amazing line delivery. and it smash cutting at the end to a completely unrelated song by emily osment that is also called "dont think about it" (which as a kid i feel like i remember airing on the disney channel entirely divorced from the movie). really fucking funny

all my rewatches were still good. i watched scream with chelsea and she liked it so scream is still the king baby ill watch it a million times.

some thoughts abt aesthetics, the way people engage with my art so far and also stuff youll be seeing from me in the next year..

first off i wanna say im not actually educated on any of this and its all just coming from personal experience/ its kind of just a mad mans rambling

im the kind of person who is always curating, always putting like with like (on a consistently changing/personal/almost random metric that spans like any kind of media , things tangible and abstract, my memories, yadda yadda (everyone does this to some degree but as an artist and an introspective person, i find it hard to just let stuff go once i form a connection. (and im sure a lot of u guys reading this are like this too, tumblr is like The website for people like this) im hyper aware of everything that ever happens to me and im always trying to connect everything with everything else

(forgive me too in advance cause ive never been satisfied with my ability to explain myself and usually i just let everything i do speak for itself/dont bother trying. im really really visual and i usually think of things In pictures too so it just frustrates me to try and describe something thats worth a thousand words..

jewelry came pretty quickly to me as a favorite art form because its a way to convey some of what goes on in my head when i engage with the media i like , being able to turn all these pretty abstract feelings into colors shapes symbols.. a lot of times when i listen to something or watch something, i get almost itchy with the feeling of needing to get the way i percieved it out into the world in a visual and tangible way asap before it loses its original shape or before i forget how it made me feel. (dementia runs in my family so a lot of my art is trying to archive my feelings since i know i wont have them forever.. its almost a frantic need to be seen/known by others before its too late.

a lot of the jewelry ive custom made for people has been specifically music and film related, and thats been a great thing because i can both 1) make something that satisfies my own vision of the thing but 2) it is still easily readable by others as related 2 the source material because the design language usually is distinct enough to withstand being skewed too much by my own personal associations

moving forward tho, i have a TON of ideas for way more personal/abstract/highly conceptual projects, and have been slowly gathering pieces so that i can do full justice to my vision for them.

doing this has first and foremost always been an art form/way to express myself . i do it because of the ideas, i do it because i have to do it, and then im left with a bunch of stuff that i would like way more to be in the hands of someone who relates to it. and, i do it in a way thats not at all good for being a business owner. if i'm going to create a product, i would be going against my ideals if i didnt try to battle with all the things i hate about products. fast fashion and aliexpress craft supplies and mass production.. (to have a successful business you need a lot of the same product, it needs to be easy to make and you need to be able to get your materials cheap. all of which i can't and wouldn't do, so it's a very shit thing to attempt to make a living off of..

maybe this sounds a little funny too when you look at my work and then at what i have to say about it.that i think about it so seriously since it's something any one can do. my kid sister makes jewelry, it's a pretty accesible hobby. the idea of making jewelry based off of media is also the furthest thing from unique, which brings me thinking about the reception of my art online so far, and some weird stuff i've noticed.

when you're making anything that you mention is directly "inspired by" something else, you run into some pretty weird habits from others online, and a kind of unique way of engaging with "aesthetics" thats started in the past couple years. what im talking about now is less movies/music. its stuff that blurs the line between an existing body of work to reference and just a concept. ( y2k, fill in the blank-core, frutiger metro/aero).. i'm really into most eras of these fashion / design trends/aesthetics in a historian/archivist kind of way, and i really enjoy to do work inspired by things like this, but these are always way more personally influenced than anything made for a movie/music. i went semi-viral (feels so dumb to say seriously lol) on tiktok for a frutiger metro/sleepyhead by passion pit inspired bracelet.

i get hate on most posts on tiktok since its a gigantic platform(as well as praise) but the majority of comments always tend to be people correcting the authenticity to the aesthetic ive listed as an inspiration. people way smarter than me have way better things to say on this, and if i tried to go too into detail with it this post would be even crazy longer, but ive seen people call it "what aesthetic is this" culture, (some examples of this: " "this aesthetic is called this, not that" "this aesthetic is from this time frame only" xyz

i never know what to do, because i want to respond by explaining that i see these aesthetic names/labeling system solely as a tool. to help people find and connect like with like. labeling aesthetics is just recognizing a pattern. knowing the "name" of an aesthetic can help you find similar things, but there are no set time periods to any of this unless you are specifically making something that is an exact recreation of something else or making a period piece. everything comes back in some way over and over again. rigidly defining aesthetics is flawed/missing the point because aesthetics are completely individual/unmeasurable/skewed by experiences/memories/opinions. its a little different too when it comes to stuff thats actually like made For marketing cause that Will have an exact language that goes with it or whatever, but most of the time i see people arguing about an aesthetic thats not even applicable. there are genuinely no rules to what fits an aesthetic because anything you create, you add your own experiences to and are effectively continuing these patterns in a new way/ sometimes creating a whole new movement or sub category if you are really into labeling it as something directly. peoples personal art is definitely affected by their time/whatever the common design language was at the time, so thats where a lot of the names get born, but when you make it this rigid thing , "this needs to be more like this.. this needs to be more like that.." you'd be right- but only in the sense that yes, it IS that way, For You. in your mind you experience it that way, it is your personal relation to seeing these patterns. and you can use these aesthetic tools to expand on what was done before you, you can use these images to convey your own perspective so that i can try to understand it.

marketing vs personal aesthetics is a different thing that idk how to tackle with my like super limited language but for example, when someone is using a popular aesthetic to sell you something, you can tell. it's shallow and impersonal. looking back on ads that are dated and use a certain aesthetic usually tinges them with nostalgia that you can take and make into something that it wasn't because you have this priceless new angle to look at it with. if you believe in aesthetics as being this rigid thing, you dont get new ideas, you dont get new sub aesthetics, you dont get new movements, you get a copy of a copy, you get shein clothes. and! anyone can call anything they want an "aesthetic" ..any collection of things together influenced by anything in the world can be an entirely new aesthetic.. and im so sick of typing the word aesthetic

but i know that if theyre commenting something like this, they r so fundamentally different from me/ engage with the world in such a different way then i do that it would be a waste of time to try to explain..

i am a little scared when i launch some of the new projects i've been working on they'll be met with this kind of reaction. maybe ill try to write some kind of TLDR, some kind of zine to send along with any of my bracelets, some kind of manifesto about sustainability/personalization/mindful consumpution.. but it takes a long time for me to feel good about explaining myself, even this post ive deleted and restarted countless times.

ill post some more about some of the "aesthetics " (i gotta figure out better language for this shit i swear to god) ive found inspiring that have heavily influenced these upcoming projects, as well as scans from books ive collected that match the design language and i definitely want to release kind of a companion zine with the collections that include music/fashion/home photos etc...

if u have any thoughts or anything about any of this id love to hear it, or answer questions or expand on shit, this is kind of just like a word version of me throwing mac and cheese up at the ceiling and seeing if anything sticks.
