i don’t love chat noir not being in final fight with his father, but at the same time i do love that this was the first finale where we see ladybug 100% confident in the face of impossible odds. she’s clearly terrified out of her mind but she never stops and doubts whether she can win. and it’s not that she doesn’t still need her team because she does and everyone is behind the scenes helping her, but this is the first finale we’ve seen her without any doubt in her ability to win. it’s the first time she doesn’t need a pep talk from chat noir to keep her going.

but even though she doesn’t need a pep talk and he’s not physically there with her, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t still need him. it means that he’s part of her now even when he’s not there. you can feel the boost of confidence after she transforms into bug noire and it’s more than just the added power. it’s that this time she doesn’t have the ring because he abandoned her but instead because he has faith she can and will save them all. she can only do it without him because he believes she can, and through that she can believe in herself. she’s finally able to internalize the things he’s told her every finale. girl didn’t doubt for a second that she could kick gabriel’s ass and reform her team and she didn’t doubt her chat noir would be part of that team. i love how confident and strong she was and how far she’s come.

#i do think this will lead to a big shift in their partnership #it remains to be seen what exactly #but now marinette is at peace with her role as a hero while adrien isn’t #which is a MASSIVE switch from the first 5 seasons #and is going to affect them as much as her being the guardian and keeping secrets does #miraculous ladybug #ml recreation

Story - summarized

Qin Yi is a master actor. He can play any role.

One night, he performs for a special guest from Pigeon. So, he chooses to do a play about a young child abandoned by a wealthy family. When the child grows up, they return and kill their family and assume control of all the assets.

After the play, Qin Yi meets with Mercury, the special guest. Mercury knew the play was a loose adaptation of his life, and he's impressed with Qin Yi's extensive network. But he's not ready to make a deal yet.

Qin Yi leaves that night to visit the matriarch of the Qin family. Their meeting is short, but it gives him enough time to hint to his stalkers that he is ready to do anything "for the family."

But all this was part of Qin Yi's plan. He needed Mercury to feel he controlled Neverfall Troupe, so that he could gain access to the money, resources, and businesses at Mercury's disposal.

Qin Yi is a master actor, constantly taking on new personas from a prideful heir to a humble liar. He will take on any role to gain power.

Connections

-Qin Yi's backstory of tricking his way to becoming the heir of the Qin family is told in Mind Maze Chapter 3. He wanted to get away from his abusive troupe master, so he gave himself the butterfly birthmark and pretended to be the missing son.

-In Flower in the Mirror, Qin Yi has an internal crisis: because he acts so much around others, he isn't sure who he truly is.

-For the prologue of Chapter 3, Qin Yi and Rien Mercury meet up. Yi uses his plays to flatter and win Rien over to his side, just like he did with Mercury, but the youth sees through the charade and says he wants to be straightforward.

-Yi's main strategy for gaining allies is to act submissive to them and pull the strings from behind, but when Zoey visits him in her Reflection for Traveler's Robe, she notices this and tells him to be more upfront with her.

Fun Facts

-For Qin Yi, his whole life is an act. Even when he talks to the narrator in the Reflections, he still treats his memories like another performance. He's always on guard.

Quick life update I guess

Remember when I said I'll get more active on tumblr again?

Well, life got in the way.

My depression slowly came back, an old eating disorder surfaced again, and I also faced some relationship issues.

Life's not always as perfect as it seems and nobody knows what kind of demons you fight against, unless you open up and tell them.

We're currently working through it and my mental health has gotten a lot better the past few weeks. I mean, I'm liking posts again, saving them in my drafts, and thinking of making content again. I may be back sooner than I expect.

And honestly I had way worse depressive episodes, it sounds worse than it actually was this year.

Kirk is not only dumb, but absolutely rude too. Proposing to Sam at her friend's wedding??!!!

I can't believe he really thinks they actually have a romantic relationship! Sam does nothing to treat him as a romantic partner at all. She's super cold to him, and the only reason she agreed to that wedding is her fucking grandmother, and I really thought he knew that. Because Sam is not really hiding it from him, she spends as little time with him as possible.

And then! He is double rude. Using Jim's wedding party, and interrupting them to propose to Sam. They were talking to Mon about her catching the bouquet and he simply interrupted the mid-talk. Like, if Sam had caught the bouquet, it could even make sense, even if it was still rude. And not only that, but doing so in front of his family(?) and all her friends just to put pressure on her to say yes. It's a whole spectacle. I hate it.

I wonder what btsv is going to do with the conflict between what the law demands of Jeff vs his love for his son because like. You get the vibe there isn’t Quite as much stringent anti spiderman sentiment from law enforcement in 1610 but also. It’s such a powerful sentiment to have your child essentially force you to reevaluate all that you thought it meant to be good.
