was rewatching your video on the mcelroys and realised we both have the secret history of twin peaks by mark frost! its blurry so idk for sure but its a very distinctive spine haha
oh yeah, i have a bunch of twin peaks books!
i've actually been rereading the secret diary of laura palmer to get into the right mindset for some future godfeels stuff, it's a FANTASTIC book. i'd recommend it even to people who haven't seen twin peaks, it's just a painfully honest exploration of adolescent sexuality in a world that demonizes sex. written by jennifer lynch with no intervention from david lynch or mark frost! the autobio of dale cooper kinda sucks and the travel guide to twin peaks is basically a rough outline of the secret history, but they're fun in their own ways.
i like the secret history of twin peaks / the final dossier! there's something really interesting about the ebb and flow of authorial influence across twin peaks. season 1 is lynch/frost in balance. season 2 is mostly frost bookended by lynch/frost with a finale that is all lynch. fire walk with me is all lynch. the return is interesting because its development was intermittently lynch/frost, but the final product is all lynch. it's like they met for a tactical meeting, then split off to each create their own ideal version of twin peaks. so the return and secret history next to each other, you can really see where lynch and frost differed in some major ways-- but you can also see all the spots where they clearly agreed, because those spots all tie back to season 1.
i did a video about twin peaks forever ago. it was supposed to be the start of a series, but you know. stuff happened. that said, i still think it's one of my best videos on a lot of levels. i probably won't finish the series directly but i do intend to tie it off in some form eventually.

“I suppose at one time in my life I might have had any number of stories, but now there is no other. This is the only story I will ever be able to tell.”
#if an adaptation of this fucking book can't include young Philip Seymour Hoffman as Bunny then I do not want it#I'd really prefer James Spader as Charles honestly but he was veering much too old for the part#especially as Kidman's twin#so I went with Christian Slater because he is my beloved and I love when he plays preps that go feral#the secret history#richard papen#henry winter#bunny corcoran#francis abernathy#camilla macaulay#charles macaulay#movies i wish existed#because an adaptation of this book close to its actual release when Hollywood was in its prep school/academic hellscape peak#would've been so good#and by so good i mean extra as hell#dark academia#90s

I've got some Twin Peaks showing up in my FYP and it's made me think about Twin Peaks. It aired from 1990-1991, and then the feature film Fire Walk with Me was released in 1992...the same year that our Ms. Tartt published everyone's favorite novel. The following year, 1993, saw the premiere of The X-Files. These were also the peak years of grunge, whose whole aesthetic was basically, It's raining and we're all doomed.
What was it about the early 1990s that gave everyone such an appetite for tales of bad things happening in gloomy northern landscapes?

almost done with my life my tapes. i find that i have more problems with this book than i did lauras. mostly because dale does become an fbi agent and i fundamentally disagree with that as a life choice. also windom is here and he always pisses me off. but i am also enjoying it somewhat. because it is dale and he has always been a very bizarre and charming guy who has bad things happen to and around him
#can't say im not relieved to almost be finished though#after this i listen to the twin peaks tapes of agent cooper and then the secret history of twin peaks#yayyyyy :)#quincy.txt#tp posting

Alright people, it's time for more Villain Leo lore!!!
Today we are diving into Leo and Splinter's relationship!!!
Read under the cut because this got so LONG, these two have so many issues and there was so much to work with.
Alright, so it's no secret that Leo and Splinter have a....less than ideal relationship. You can see throughout all of TMNT history that Leo looks up to Splinter an insane amount, and Rise Leo is no different.
This boy looked up to Lou Jitsu his whole life, and we can often see him doing the same movements and catchphrases that Lou did. Granted, all the boys do, but Leo seems particularly attached to Lou
And we've all seen the smile comparisons, it's insane how similar his grandiose smile is to Lou Jistu's.
The point is, Leo really looks up to his dad, and we can see this in his actions and attitudes towards not only Lou Jitsu, but also Splinter in canon.
"Trust me pops!"
I mean, just look at how happy he is to be there with his dad, in his element. This episode is Leo at his peak, outsmarting everyone and predicting his family's moments to the letter.
Also, idk about you, but that smile seems incredibly genuine. That's not even a Lou Jitsu smile, that's a 100% Hamato Leonardo smile at his dad whom he looks up to so much.
And what does Splinter say to his son's ask for trust?
"I knew I should have brought Purple!"
....what.
That is his SON. His 14, maybe 15 year old son, who is asking for his father to trust him.
....and he responds by saying that he wishes he had brought his more intelligent twin brother instead, who he has already shown an implied favoritism towards in the past
"And I thought Purple was the funny one!"
"Told you guys I was the funniest."
This is a pretty harmless comment tbh, but Leo takes so much pride in his quips, one-liners and puns that this had to sting a little bit.
There's such a huge amount of content to sift through when it comes to these two, and that fact actually saddens me because I had SO MUCH to pick from when making this post, but here's some highlights.
One thing that I noticed while watching a Splinter and Leo compilation is that during the memory episode, Leo is the only one Splinter directly hits
NONE of the other three were directly hit like this is any point in the episode and yeah, this could totally be played off as a bit or just a case of wrong place, wrong time, but we'll get to my theory later, right now I'm just laying out the facts.
An important detail I'd like to point out here too is Leo's face after the first hit.
Guys, he looks HURT. Donnie and Raph are looking at him, checking that he's okay, but he is looking right past them at the shadow Splinter, who is dressed and looks just like his childhood idol, who just hit him specifically right in the face.
Not only his idol even. No, the most pure and unfiltered representation of his father, the man who's raised him his whole life.
And he just got hit in the face.
Ouch. For a kid as emotive as Leo (who I honestly think feels his emotions even more intensely than Mikey when he lets them out), this is a devastating blow. Literally.
Then, let's talk about this scene, you all knew it was coming.
"Can someone tell my son I am NOT TALKING TO HIM!!"
"You got this pops! I love you!"
Guys this scene hurts my heart. Like, once again, he can't be older than 15 at this point. Yeah he's being a badass stratigiser this whole episode, but you cannot convince me that he wasn't at least a little excited to see his dad, his HERO in action, and wearing a matching outfit as well, and show his dad, his idol and hero, exactly what he's capable of. Leo absolutely worships the ground Splinter walks on and what does his father have to say to his son"s encouragement??
"NO!"
GAHHHH like yes, Leo was kinda being a little shit this whole episode and could have clued his dad in on the plan a little bit, but honestly that could have ruined everything if Splinter had any holdbacks.
Not to mention, this is the only Leo and Splinter episode we get. Donnie gets the derby, Mikey gets the Hidden City bonding, even Raph gets the ending of the memory episode, and in each, they have a genuine moment of bonding with Splinter.
Splinter never ONCE apologized for his actions in this episode. Not once. RAPH is the one who tells Leo in this episode later on that he trusts Leo, something he's been begging Splinter for the entire time.
All of a sudden, this moment doesn't seem so out of place.....
"I love you soooo much!" "No, no you don't, I'm your least favorite!!"
This line could totally just be a throwaway line, but as it was pointed out to me by the wonderful @nardos-primetime, the alarms that the boys did for Google home have a REALLY upsetting one for Leo
youtube
Go to about 1:57 and listen to that one and just......cry.
NOW that line in "Rat Flu" makes a LOT more sense. Splinter LAUGHED at Leo when he asked if he was his favorite. LAUGHED at him.
But wait, you may ask. What about the ending? Splinter made Leo the leader, obviously he trusts him!
....yeah, just take a look at their faces here.
Donnie and Mikey are basically horrified beyond belief and in complete shock
Raph is.....blue screening, honestly
And Leo looks completely taken aback and shocked and scared and honestly, I don't blame him. There is absolutely NO precedence for Splinter to do this. He has proved time and time again that he does NOT trust Leo, he never ONCE tells Leo that he trusts him even though he asks for that trust during the entirety of "Unhappy Returns". NONE of them look happy about this new change.
You could see this as Splinter finally giving Leo a chance, but I see this a lot more as one of the more popular Fandom interpretations of Splinter wanting to give Raph a break. Raph had a huge breakdown during the finale and I don't think it's unreasonable for Splinter to have heard of that and decide that his beloved eldest needed a chance to recover.
Who better to pass this burden on to than his least favorite son!
We also see in the movie that this shift in power dynamics really doesn't do much other than create a lot of interpersonal conflict between Leo and Raph, something Splinter does absolutely nothing to help out with, other than telling them to quiet down.
Now that we have all of our evidence (and I put more work into getting evidence for this than for the English project I'm supposed to be doing right now can I just cite this as a source for me being capable of gathering evidence???) we can actually get into the analysis of how this all would affect him.
First of all, I mentioned that I would discuss the repercussions of the memory episode. This analysis is more for Splinter, but I feel like it's still important. We've seen time and time again that Leo is very similar to how Splinter was as a young teen in both looks and attitude. If Splinter truly resents his younger self and how he acted, it would make a lot of sense for him to also subconsciously resent his son who acts a lot like himself at that age. This would cause him to lash out at Leo in his subconscious, the one place where his true thoughts and feelings are on full display.
I just wanna point out his face again here, Leo looks so hurt. He definitely already knows that he's not anywhere near Splinter's favorites at this point, but it still hurts him to see that get confirmed.
This brings me to my next point of Leo's psyche. He is a very confident, witty, smart teenager, but he's still just that. A teenager. He's anxious, insecure, and very self-reliant. He looks to others for praise often and rarely receives it, usually having to hype himself up. His relationship with Splinter only emphasizes these qualities about him and makes Leo look so much worse in Splinter's eyes because his son is just a modern-day representation of his past self.
Now let's put this into perspective of Leo's decent into villainy.
If Leo is hurting and under the impression that his brothers are maybe starting to dislike him, even hate him, adding Splinter on to this can only make it worse.
Maybe he goes to his dad for tips on how to lead when he feels like he can't talk to Raph anymore and needs his father's advice.
Maybe he sets up a dinner for him and Splinter to just chat and bond instead of sitting at the dinner table with another one of Mikey's meals that he feels too sick with anxiety from his little brother's disappointed looks to eat.
Maybe he goes to his father crying from another nightmare after not feeling welcomed in Donnie's lab anymore after they fought for an hour the day before.
And maybe, just maybe, Splinter waves him off every time.
Forgets.
Laughs at him.
I mean, this is a kid who relys on others to build him up, to praise him and love him because after all....
Who is he without his family?
Maybe it's time to find out.

So how did you first come up with JusticeStatic? Was it just an alternate to Radioapple or...?
Oh we won't ship them just because of that tho. JusticeStatic has history and is a very long story that was started with our previous project: Hellaver Secret. Basically a Hazbin Hotel combine with a manga called Spy x Family with RadioApple as the main couple.
I will leave AO3 link here if anyone curious about the project
In this AU, Michael is an Archangel who come down to Earth to bring his twin back to Heaven while Vox's Alastor's coworker, they both spies. And in this AU Vox's deeply in love with Alastor to the point of obsession. Well things started as a joke between us about shipping JusticeStatic, nothing serious tho, we didn't even care much about the couple at the first place. But then when I was building one-side RadioStatic, show a Vox that hopelessly in love with Alastor and the guy just don't even care, even to the point that ignore Vox I guess?
At that very moment, few words from Nate really hit me hard! He said things like he knew JusticeStatic started as a joke but now he couldn't help it but though about them more seriously.
Seeing Nate started to care for them made me think like I had to do something, it's like seeing your idol sad and you won't let that continue. Same things for me at that moment so I started to rant about JusticeStatic and how their relationship will develop. The more we build, the better their dynamic become and soon they become our everything.
Till now when we turn back, there are like +200 screenshot of the plot, relationship development and character build I made for them in almost 2 months and I don't think Nate can cap all of what we had discuss about JusticeStatic.
So we become delulu so much that we created like 9 AU for them? Both Ruddy Hotel and Hellaver Secret are peak in plot and character development, they are our top fav.
Here is a pic of JusticeStatic in Hellaver Secret AU

Twin Peaks Extended Media
Whether it is for the lack of knowledge in mainstream Twin Peaks spaces regarding them or how some of these things are hard to get, the extended media of Twin Peaks but especially the books are constantly overlooked and ignored for various reasons.
I had done an (incomplete) index of it that blew up in my original account, and I had redone it (but as a more extensive guide that also included the order to watch the show). However, I changed my mind and decided to redo it, since the third time's a charm, right?
Most of these things include spoilers of the three seasons and the movie, so watch and read at your own risk.
AUDIOBOOKS AND COOPER'S TWIN PEAKS TAPES
The audiobooks consist of Laura's diary, the last two books narrated by cast members of the show, while Cooper's tapes were done by Kyle MacLachlan around the time the show was created, and (believe it or not) earned him a Grammy nomination for it.
Laura Palmer’s Diary (narrated by Sheryl Lee).
Diane: The Twin Peaks Tapes by Agent Cooper (narrated by Kyle MacLachlan).
The Secret History of Twin Peaks (narrated by Mark Frost, Len Cariou, Michael Horse, Mat Hostetler, Amy Shiels, Chris Mulkey, David Patrick Kelly, Robert Knepper, Kyle MacLachlan and James Morrison).
The Final Dossier (narrated by Annie Wersching).
BOOKS AND TEXT
Possibly the most overlooked section in Twin Peaks media. Mostly because some fanboys wrongfully think that because David Lynch didn't write them, it doesn't add to the story and canon, which is a wrong thing to say since these books were written by people involved in the show. Especifically, the writers wrote them and were given notes by Frost and Lynch.
The Secret History and The Final Dossier contain spoilers for the three seasons, so read them at your own discretion.
(*) Laura's diary and Cooper's autobiography are the only texts available in Glastonberry Grove. My recommendation is to copy the text and paste it on a google document, since the PDF has the pages ordered in a way you can later print it and build the book on your own.
The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer (written by Jennifer Lynch)*: Laura's diary is written on the day of her 12th birthday, and ends on February the 23rd, 1989. The book (like Cooper's) is very graphic since Laura has to constantly face BOB in her dreams and in real life, and struggles with how others perceive her as well as harm herself in order to avoid BOB hurting the ones she loves. It does not include the missing pages of her diary.

Glastonberry Grove PDF + Text
Twin Peaks: Access Guide to The Town (by Gregg Almquist, Tricia Brock, Robert Engels, Lise Friedman and Harley Peyton with David Lynch, Mark Frost and Richard Saul Wurman): It's the hardest book to get from the books that were released in the nineties. The Access Guide is somewhat of a predecessor of The Secret History, since it includes some of the origins of Twin Peaks. However, the Access Guide also includes newspaper articles, a donuts recipe, and more fun stuff!
Link of the PDF (It won't show a preview because of how heavy the document is, so simply download it)
The Autobiography of Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes (written by Scott Frost)*: Cooper's autobiography starts in 1967 and ends on February the 24th, 1989. It featured short interviews from Cooper's friends and other people connected to him and transcripts from his tapes. Like Laura's, Cooper experiences tons of horrifying and sad things, from sexual abuse to murder so reader discretion is advised.

Glastonberry Grove PDF + Text
The Secret History of Twin Peaks (written by Mark Frost): A dossier of Garland Briggs that narrates the history of the town as well as the families that ahve stayed there, alongside relationships in the FBI, it includes letters, menus, classified FBI documents, drawings, fragments of books with notes done by Agent Tamara "Tammy" Preston.
Internet Archive link
The Final Dossier (written by Mark Frost): After the events of The Return, Gordon Cole assigns to Tammy the mission to interview people that were missing in The Return (Annie, Audrey, Donna, Harry, etc).
Internet Archive link
Star Pics Cards: A limited edition series of cards done by the writers of the show including the information of most of the characters, items and spaces featured on the first two seasons (With the exception of Denise Bryson).
Glastonberry Grove index
The Music of Twin Peaks introduction: A small text that came with the album "The Music of Twin Peaks", released in 1990.

Twin Peaks scripts: The scripts and transcripts for the first two seasons as well as other texts.

MISCELLANEOUS
Blue Velvet (dir. David Lynch, 1986): Some could say this is the predecessor of Twin Peaks, considering Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan), Sandy Williams (Laura Dern) and Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper) are considered prototypes for Cooper, Diane and BOB by Dern, Lynch and MacLachlan. Set in a 50s ambiented town in North Carolina in 1984, Blue Velvet is about a 21 year old college dropout named Jeffrey Beaumont who finds an ear on his way home after visiting his hospitalized father. The movie includes three, very graphic scenes, so watch it at your own risk.
Blue Velvet trailer
Internet Archive link
Mulholland Drive (dir. David Lynch, 2001): Originally going to be an Audrey Horne spin-off for TV, Mulholland Drive is considered to be one of the best films done in history and the best of David Lynch's filmography by many alongside Blue Velvet, Fire Walk With Me and Lost Highway. After Rita (Laura Harring) survives a car accident on Mulholland Drive but suffers mass amnesia, she meets a up-and-coming star Diane (Naomi Watts) who's deeply intrigued about Rita's past, and together, try to solve the mystery of her past.
Mulholland Drive Trailer
Wrapped in Plastic Magazine: Released for the first time in October of 1992, Wrapped in Plastic Magazine is the most recognizable out of the Twin Peaks related magazines that exist since the start of the show. The issues include essays, theories and even interviews to the stars as well as issues dedicated to other shows and movies like The X-Files!
MUSIC
Music is also one of the most important things in the show (and also one of the best things), as it sets the mood and the personality of each character without having to say anything.
In Glastonberry Grove, you can find the music notations of Angelo Badalamenti for Laura’s theme, the music from the intro (also known as the Falling instrumental), Into The Night, Falling, Dance of the Dream Man, Audrey’s Dance and more.
Floating Into The Night (All of the songs but Mysteries of Love, I Float Alone, The Swan, Floating and I Remember are featured in the show) by Julee Cruise.
The first season Soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti
The second season Soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti (including unreleased tracks!).
The Double R Jukebox playlist I made taken from the Access Guide! It features most of the songs but since some of them aren’t on Spotify, you can also find it here.
The Fire Walk With Me Soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti, Julee Cruise and David Lynch.
The Return Soundtrack that features bands like Chromatics to singers like Rebekah del Rio and Eddie Vedder, as well as Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti, of course.
PHOTOS, BEHIND THE SCENES AND DELETED SCENES
A Slice of Lynch: David Lynch interviews Kyle Maclachlan, Mädchen Amick and post-production supervisor John Wentworth to discuss about Twin Peaks.
A Talk with Kyle MacLachlan and Sheryl Lee: A preview of an interview Kyle and Sheryl did for the Twin Peaks: From Z to A boxset where they talk about Laura and Cooper.
COOP Visits the set of Twin Peaks: David Lynch, Frank Silva (BOB) and more thank the members of C.O.O.P. for helping save "Twin Peaks" after its close cancellation in 1991.
David Lynch interviews the Palmer family: What it says on the title! Lynch interviews Laura, Leland and Sarah 25 years after Laura's murder. This was done as a way to promote The Missing Pieces DVD, which are the scenes that were cut from Fire Walk With Me.
Fire Walk With Me (+deleted scenes, aka "The Missing Pieces"): The extended version of Fire Walk With Me that features the deleted scenes, considered by many the definitive cut of FWWM.
Fire Walk With Me discussed by David Lynch, Kyle MacLachlan and Sheryl Lee: An interview they did in 2003 where they talk about FWWM.
Georgia Coffee commercials: The Georgia Coffee commercials were a series of ads directed by David Lynch for a Japan only Coca-Cola line of canned coffee featuring Cooper and the police station trying to help a mysterious man named Ken, whose girlfriend is stuck in the Black Lodge.
Invitation to Love: In the show, Lucy, Nadine and other characters are obsessed with an exaggerated soap opera named “Invitation to Love”. You can see the whole show (16 minutes) here! The band Her’s named their album “Invitation To Her’s” after this parody.
Kyle MacLachlan Twin Peaks SNL parody: The Twin Peaks parody Kyle MacLachlan did in the episode he hosted of Saturday Night Live in late 1990.
Making Bets: A deleted scene featuring Cooper and Harry set around season two where they make bets on the Seahawks game.
Meet the Makers: A series of interviews with the writers and crew of Twin Peaks.
Mauve Zone: A photo archive featuring promo photos, Richard Beymer's polaroids, polaroids of the actors on the costume tests, behind the scenes footage of the three seasons and the movie, as well as outtakes, spoofs and deleted scenes.
Scenes Deleted: A YouTube channel who uploaded most of the deleted scenes of the first two seasons.
Twin Peaks: The Return behind the scenes: These were short films filmed by Richard Beymer during the production of the return. Most of them are featured in the DVDs of the complete series, but you can find the following on YouTube:

I'm a big big hater. I hate people who pay social media sites and I hate AO3. AO3 censored a mod for being Pro-palestine. They are simply pro Israel and pro CSEM, period.

You might see me speak a lot on abuse fetishism online + in fandom. I was groomed online by a woman through toxic fandom, "loli" and other CSEM anime/manga, and a very twisted version of feminism and sex positivity.
It went on from ages 13-17, meeting online when I was just 12. She involved me and her foster sister. I have had a few other sexually traumatic experiences (some happening in early childhood that she connected with me on), but that was by far the longest and most twisted.
I started talking about this more when I realized others had been hurt in very similar ways.
I'm a grooming, incestous abuse, and sa survivor, these things also upset me greatly. If I interact first I apologize, please just block me. I say this because of my own negative reactions.
