seeing toxic!rafe at a party after you've broken up (again)

you'd just be doing your own thing, dancing and enjoying the party with your friends, swaying around as you do to whatever song you convinced whoever was on aux to put on.

rafe would be in the corner, sitting with some friends he came to the party with, silently taking swigs of a beer as topper and kelce talked about something he wasn't interested in. his gaze would be totally fixed on you but he'd remain where he is, trying to cook up a plan of action.

you would have no idea that he would be there, he usually stays away from you for a while when you break up or have fights. he didn't want to stay away this time, he was getting more and more possessive. that would've been what your fight was about, him needing to hear from you every second of the day if he wasn't there with you.

after a while you would walk off to find another drink or the bathroom and you'd disappear out of rafe's view, causing him to get up and follow a little behind you.

you'd end up somewhere where there aren't a lot of people and he'd say your name, just seemingly appearing behind you. you'd jump nearly sky high out of shock but then your brow would furrow and you'd demand to know "why the hell (he) thought coming here was a good idea."

he'd shrug and shift closer to you claiming he just wanted to see how you were doing because he worries about you, and the two of you would get into a little argument again about how you feel like he doesn't trust you. how he's obsessed with your whereabouts and you feel like you're constantly being watched.

"i love you y/n. that's why. i worry 'bout you constantly 'cause i'm fuckin' in love with you... an' you're right, 'm obsessed with you"

he'd get closer and closer but you'd allow it, listening intently to his words as his pupils grow wide.

he'd kiss you ravenously and you'd kiss him back, eventually you two would end up in one of the bedrooms of whoever's house party it was and he'd demolish you. rough rough sex but at the same time he'd just keep telling you how obsessed he is about you. how he wants you forever.

he'd moan into your ear when he's cuming inside you, telling you he wants you to have his babies, telling you he'd marry you so he could fuck you like this every night in your own mansion.

and then you two would end up getting back together again, hopefully for longer this time.

"yeah, i told him we'd both go." his voice did it's best to feign casual disinterest.

"you told him? you??" the surprise in your voice was giddy and sweet, bubbling like a can of coke just popped, carbonation fizzing.

jihoon still didn't meet your gaze. "you've been saying you need an excuse to wear that new outfit you bought a month ago... and we're spending that night together anyway. i knew you didn't have any scheduling conflicts." he was mumbling this last bit, and the erratic twirling of his pencil did little to hide his nervousness. "two birds, one stone."

you had the buoyancy to laugh, warm as the late afternoon sun coming in through the window. "woozi. you hate clubbing."

he had to look at you, this time. if only to see how your face would melt further into affection and tender admiration. not that he was somehow any better — all the attention made his complexion rosy, and for the life of him, he couldn't wipe off this stupid grin. "but i love you."

"ji!!" the whole of you spun into a whirlwind of motion as the lovesickness hit you square in the chest. you covered your face in embarrassment, and when jihoon laughed, it only brought you somehow closer, now standing above him, your legs brushing the front of the couch. "you can't say that! makes me blush... makes me all stupid in love."

he managed to capture your pinky with his. "it's a good look on you."

you swatted his chest with your free hand, and jihoon pulled you closer, sitting you on his thighs and kissing you deeply. you intertwined your fingers with his, and after breaking away, kiss both of his cheeks. twice. for all that jihoon loves to claim he doesn't understand romance and doesn't believe in all the mushy stuff, he certainly always tries to get it right with you.

you kiss his neck, and jihoon sighs your name contentedly. you smile against his skin before pulling away to ask, "are you really gonna give up our inuyasha rerun night for clubbing with hoshi?"

his face contorts into a playful grimace, and you can't help but laugh at the expression. "that's when loving you becomes the operating part of my promise."

Okay so, we all know Gracie Abrams is a very talented artist and she’s blowing up recently, as she should! But because of the mass coming out theory, I tend to pay attention to her lyrics more than I probably would otherwise, just like I do with Taylor Swift for obvious reasons (cough cough in gaylor…).

Close To You started playing earlier today, and I’m so intrigued!

To start off with the lyric “Under pink light in June”… June is pride month. Of course I reacted when I heard this lyric! And also… “pink light” immediately makes me think of the pink and orange lights Taylor uses to flag the lesbian colours throughout the Eras Tour! I’ve tried looking for pics with pink light from June 2024 and June 2023, but I haven’t found anything exciting so far! Anyone reading this, feel free to help me figure out what this lyric really means!

I do think it’s significant! Why? Because if you listen closely, you can hear something I can best describe as a glitch exactly when that lyric plays 👀

“We were supposed to be just friends”, anyone?

(That line is literally a summation of “Close To You” to me- like, the whole song just gives the vibes of having a massive crush on a girl best friend. Ya know?)

We all know The Manuscript. The last song on the last album Taylor Swift has released, The Tortured Poets Department. Fucking heartbreaking to listen to when you know the meaning behind it. If you ask me, The Manuscript is basically Taylor saying goodbye to her fans and announcing that this is the end. “Now and then I re-read the manuscript, but the story isn’t mine anymore”…

I mean, c’mon, it’s the last lyric too! Of the last song… of the last album she’s released! This is a goodbye if I’ve ever seen one.

But that’s not what interests me the most about this song! Not right now, at least. Because here’s the thing. If you listen closely between the first and second verse of the song, you can hear the sound of a pen against paper… writing something.

I’ve read theories about that symbolising Taylor signing the contract that made her lose ownership of her songs. I’m sure you know what contract I’m talking about. I, however, don’t think that’s what it means, and I don’t think that’s what the song is about. I think the sound of the writing is simply Taylor writing The Manuscript. But there’s more to it than that!

If you scroll back up to listen to the Close To You instrumental I so helpfully provided you with, and start playing it at 2:46-3:09, you might notice something… yup, that’s right.
