KEN’S FATAL CRASH - 17th AUGUST 1966

After a fantastic year of racing for Ken and his team including wins at Sebring and Daytona plus the race he could have won at Le Mans.

It was August 17th 1966 at the Riverside International Raceway in California. The Shelby American Crew were testing a Ford known as the J-Car. Ken was in the car and all was going well until the final lap on the final day of testing.

As he approached turn 9 which was also at the end of the lap, the car left the road and broke into two, bursting into flames in which Ken died instantly.

Ken son Peter was at the test. He got to the scene as fast as he could. Peter wanted to get him out of the car, but was informed by a member of the crew that he wasn’t in the car. He had been flung out and was lying in the dirt with his helmet next to him.

It has never been proven what happened with the accident. It seems the car had either break failure or the driveline had locked up.

Due to Ken’s death, Ford updated its safety program with a stronger roll cage and changes to prevent fire.

Kelly, 38 weeks pregnant as she said, is already a week in Paris to watch Fashion Shows for her pleasure/fun and having fun with her Brazilian giggling girlfriends.

Where is her daughter all the time? I thought she said in September last year as a single parent she had to take care of everything and her daughter was her priority?! More important than a Fashion Week?!

As always, she is with her nannies. If that child's first word is not "nanny" instead of "mommy", I don't know what is either.

Excitable and exuberant, Pato wears his emotions on his sleeve. If he’s happy, you’ll know it, and if he’s not, you’ll know that too, just by looking at his face. Full of energy, Pato is hardly ever still, fidgeting if he can’t do anything else. A self-proclaimed foodie, his social media often shows off what he’s eating. And if it’s not pics of his food, it’s pics of him in the gym, puddles of sweat and all. He’s said that he works out to eat the foods he loves. His devoted fanbase has recently has exploded into near rock-star-like proportions with suites and a grandstand at Texas Motor Speedway devoted to his fans through special giveaways and promotions.

On March 25, 1966, Foyt (and about sixty other drivers) competed at Sebring International Raceway in the first Trans Am race ever held. Foyt was by far the biggest name in the race and challenged early for the lead, but dropped out on lap 32 of 67 lap. A young Formula One driver virtually unknown to American fans despite winning the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans—Jochen Rindt —won or race even though he was driving an under 2-liter Alfa Romeo 1600 GTA. The next day Foyt was teamed with Ronnie Bucknum in a Holman-Moody Ford GT MK II for the 12 Hours of Sebring. The pair battled car problems throughout and finished 12th, 36 laps behind the winners Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby. Despite the car problems the pairing seemed like a good match and Foyt/Bucknum were set to drive a Holman-Moody entry in the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans.
