Colton is easygoing and laidback, a true California kid, yet is intensely competitive. Participant (rumored to be the mastermind) in several of the infamous Indy 500 bus lot pranks in recent years, he somehow eludes any true blame falling upon him. He’s well-liked within the paddock, most recently sort of adopted by the Bus Bros and nicknamed “Swolton.” He is also close friends with Alex Rossi, often staying with his former teammate when he needs to be in Indy. He doesn’t make a lot of waves off-track, one of the quietest drivers on social media, but makes up for it on-track with fantastic saves and crashes in equal measure. Just 23 years old in 2023 has 7 wins, 11 podiums and 9 poles in his young life.

F1 discussions.

In late summer 2022, it was announced that F1 team AlphaTauri had an interest in Colton for the 2024 F1 season. Colton, already signed to McLaren F1 as a test driver in addition to his Andretti contract in Indycar, was not eligible for a Super License, a requirement to drive in F1, but this could be addressed with an exception by the FIA. At one point it was announced that this was a done deal but it was not and Red Bull (AlphaTauri’s parent team) soon abandoned all efforts to acquire Colton as a driver.

The Super License system is a convoluted thing that I will not explain here other than to say that Indycar is vastly underrated in points assigned and if not for this discrepancy, Colton would have had more than enough points. But as it is, Colton had 32 points out of a needed 40. Other drivers in similar situations have raced in various lower tier FIA sanctioned series to make up the points and Colton was willing to do this over the winter of 2022-23 but this was also not allowed by the FIA.

But seeing Colton in F1 is still a possibility, should he do well enough in Indycar to earn the points needed and should Michael Andretti eventually succeed in buying an existing F1 team or convincing F1 to allow him to enter a new team. After the end of the 2022 Indycar season, Colton signed a multi-year contract extension with Andretti that includes the ability to switch to an Andretti owned F1 team.

The team which will field BMW’s entry in next year’s World Endurance Championship has completed its first test run with the M Hybrid V8 LMDh. Six of the team’s works drivers took the wheel of the BMW M Hybrid V8. It is powered by a four-litre twin-turbo engine producing around 640bhp, as defined by the regulations, and a specification 50kW (67bhp) LMDh hybrid drive system. The car was originally shaken down at BMW’s Dingolfing facility in Germany by Nick Yelloly. It then spent several days running at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain. BMW M Team WR drivers Jesse Krohn, Maxime Martin, Sheldon van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor, Dan Harper and Max Hesse shared the BMW M Hybrid V8 in Spain. The car was also entrusted to some of its Junior Team drivers. BMW M Motorsport chief Andreas Roos said the team made “a very good start” to its programme ahead of the new WEC season in Qatar next March. The car has already raced in America’s IMSA series. BMW scored its first win with the it in last weekend’s race at Watkins Glen after the on-the-road winner was penalised for a technical infringement. “The BMW M Hybrid V8 ran smoothly during the first test drives and provided our engineers and the team with the opportunity to gain a wealth of insights right from the start,” Roos continued. “Of course, the experiences we have gathered together with BMW M Team RLL in the IMSA series races have also contributed to this. “At the beginning of the LMDh programme, we deliberately chose to compete exclusively in the IMSA series first and later in the FIA WEC. We are now benefiting from this approach. Although the start was successful, there is still a lot of work to be done on the way to the first races. 24 Hours Daytona: BMW Kicks Off  2020 

The winter break in North America is over: This coming weekend sees BMW M Motorsport and BMW Team RLL start the 2020 season of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA series). Traditionally the season kicks off with a real endurance classic, the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA) from 25th to 26th January. BMW Team RLL, which will contest the IMSA series with two BMW M8 GTEs, is heading to the first highlight of the 2020 racing year with a lot of momentum, after all, team principal Bobby Rahal’s (USA) crew celebrated the highly acclaimed victory in the GTLM class there last year.

In terms of drivers, BMW Team RLL is going for consistency and proven names. John Edwards (USA) and Jesse Krohn (FIN) will contest the 2020 season in the #24 car again. At Daytona they will receive support from last year’s winner Augusto Farfus (BRA) and Chaz Mostert (AUS). The other three winners from last year will be in the cockpit of the #25 sister car, namely Connor De Phillippi (USA), Philipp Eng (AUT) and Colton Herta (USA). New to the team is former BMW DTM driver Bruno Spengler (CAN), who, together with De Phillippi, will make up the regular team for the full season. In preparation for the race weekend, BMW Team RLL took part in the three-day “Roar before the 24” pre-test at the beginning of January.

In the 2020 season, BMW M Motorsport, BMW of North America and BMW Team RLL will be backed by strong partners in their commitment to the IMSA. The new oil partner for the IMSA is MOTUL. The French company specialises in high-tech engine and industrial lubricants, and has decades of racing experience. The new Official Partner is also the namesake of the MOTUL BMW M8 GTE, adding to the strong portfolio of trusted partners Akrapovič, Michelin, Puma, BMW M Performance Driving School, bmwusa.com, AERO Advanced Paint Technology, Inc., Lincoln Electric and Rousseau.

In addition to BMW Team RLL and their two MOTUL BMW M8 GTEs, the Turner Motorsport team will also be competing at Daytona. The #96 BMW M6 GT3 contesting the GTD class will have BMW works driver Jens Klingmann (GER) and Bill Auberlen, Robby Foley and Dillon Machavern (all USA) at the wheel. The 2020 edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona gets underway at 13:35 local time (19:35 CET) on Saturday, 25th January.

Cadillac Racing anuncia acordo com Wayne Taylor-Andretti no IMSA em 2025

A equipe que desde 2021 corre com Acura quando ainda era DPI na IMSA, a equipe vai assumir o Cadillac #01 atualmente da Chip Ganassi Racing para o chassis #10 , e um segundo chassis com #40.

A equipe venceu as 24h Daytona de 2017,2019 e 2020 e o campeonato do IMSA em 2017 com as marcas da GM, no caso Corvette e Cadillac.

Em um desses dois modelos de Cadillac V Series R poderá ter presença de Brasileiro, o Pipo Derani é um dos pilotos cotados para andar em um dos carros da WTTR Andretti , já que ele vai sair da Whelen Engering Racing.
