Context in life is basically everything, Prof. Andrews would say over and over when he'd give his lectures on symbolism and figurative language. To understand a thing's purpose, one must place it within the correct context.
Which is why my brain's flapping around like a car with a blown tire right now. The correct context for the man sitting next to me is . . . not here. His proper context is out in the big scary world being bigger and stronger than everything, making the problems he solves seem both too big to handle and too trivial to bother with, saving the world through sheer American . . . American-ness. He doesn't belong here. In the same room as me. Next to me. Close enough to feel his heat and smell his cologne. It's got me all flustered and twitterpated and all that jazz.
Doing my absolute best to ignore the superhero sitting next to me, I face front. Mr. DeSousa's launching into his presentation on Vought South America's aggressive property acquisition push in Brazil. It's got nothing to do with my end of the business, and in no time I'm so bored I'm rigored. The buzzing from the lights is giving me a headache and I skipped lunch so I wouldn't have to use the bathroom at an awkward moment. I'm sweating under my second best suit and the stale air's making me feel smothered and claustrophobic. In the back of my mind I can feel the cost of my presence here mounting in terms of jobs back home that aren't getting done. Ever since Vought's Western division split I've been pulling eighty hour workweeks getting the new Seattle offices off the ground. Like the wise man said, war is hell but expansion is worse.
Oh and did I mention that Soldier Boy is sitting right here beside me? Bumping my left elbow as I try to catch up on this month's budgets? Who is currently wearing a nice but unremarkable double-breasted suit, a watch chain gleaming gold at his waist. Nothing to hint that he's outside his proper context except no way would anybody with eyes think he belongs in this crowd. He's a leopard in a den of hyenas.
God's night jars he even brought a briefcase, dark green leather with brass clasps.
"Psst!" I start so hard I almost drop my pen. It takes everything I got to not squeal like a five-year-old. I've met Supes before. They're a good-slash-service that we sell. Close to, they're human like the rest of us. But with Solider Boy, the illusion's not collapsing. It's just getting new dimensions. For instance, did you know he has freckles? Itty-bitty ones, scattered across the bridge of his nose. "Have you got a light, miss?”
Words in language using vocabulary I was taught at some point-- my brain seizes up solid.
"Light?"
"Oh! Uh . . ." I hand him my little black Ronson and he lights a cigarette, patrician lips clutching the filter end and mouth working around the smoke.
"Much obliged," he looks at the lighter barrel, "Ace?"
Alice Corina Espersen, that's me.
"So if someone would please get the lights--"
"Let me." DeSousa turns pale as Solider Boy uncoils himself from his chair and reaches to flip the switch. The light from the slide projector and the odd glow of a cigarette ember are the only illumination as we're treated to click after click of tropical-looking wildernesses and charts showing developmental timetables.
Click and Solider Boy's handing me my lighter back, trailing his fingers over my hand in a light incidental caress that makes every hair on my body stand on end.
Click and he's slouched to the side, pressing his arm firmly against my shoulder. Thick as a tree branch; if he pumped his bicep his sleeve would pop open.
Click and he's leaning close to speak softly in my ear, asking me what the ACE stands for, making a small pleased noise when I introduce myself.
Click and he's inhaling softly, smelling my hair and my perfume. I blush so red my head hurts when I realize he can also smell my sweat.
Click and I feel a touch on my leg under the table. Just a light little pet on the top of my thigh, warm through my stocking.
Click and his hand’s fitted just above the cap of my knee, big and hard.
Click and his thumb’s rubbing a funnybone.
Click and he’s pushing up the hem of my skirt, one torturous fraction of an inch at a time.
Click and he’s touching the meaty inside of my leg.
Click. Click. Click.
The lights come back on and Soldier Boy’s sitting with his hands folded on the table in front of him, face as open and innocent as an angel. Mr. DeSousa calls a break, making some lame seventh-inning-stretch joke I barely hear. "Thank you for your attention. Reconvene in thirty."
Forgetful of my dignity, I make my quick way to the ladies’ room. God I’m a sight, flushed tomato red and my makeup caked up by sweat. From being pawed by . . . by . . .
Bonk context, I got up in the mirror universe this morning. One where the greatest hero to ever live just spent over an hour feeling me up and one where I’d trade my immortal soul if only he'd do it some more. I stuff my emergency rock candy in my mouth and lean over the sink to splash water on my face. The cool wetness is blessed relief.
I straighten up and in the mirror-- the shriek of surprise gets shoved back down my throat as a big hand covers my mouth. “Shh,” Solider Boy says. “Easy Ace.” His free hand covers my ribs and pulls me into his body. I’m decked out in every authority symbol I can manage to compensate for the tiny body the good Lord done gave me; dark framed glasses, black suit, understated makeup. Against Soldier Boy, none of it works. He's just so big, powerful, there's so much of him. His body eclipses mine, his presence extinguishes me. I melt back into the heat of his embrace. “The door’s locked, and we only have twenty minutes.”
I defy any red-blooded American female to look into those eyes and say no thank you sir I’d rather not get fucked in the bathroom like some back-alley floozy. Solider Boy shoves my skirt up and grunts in approval when he feels the snaps of my garter belt and the lacy tops of my stockings. My underwear vanishes with a snap of failed elastic. Thanks to his work from earlier, I’m all humid down there. He makes quick work of the buttons on my blouse, sighing in appreciation as he eyes my bra. The pads of his fingers brush my button, soft and gentle.
"Shh," Solider Boy whispers as I try and suck back my whimpers. "Don’t want anyone to guess what we’re up to, hmm?" I shut my eyes, torn right down the middle between mounting horror and mounting lust. Some seconds pass in silence, then a hard voice in my ear orders, "Open your eyes Alice. I want you to see this."
This can't be me, this slut looking back at me with her skirt up and her bosoms hanging out, Soldier Boy's face hanging over my shoulder and his fingers coaxing something clawed and merciless out of my center. He takes off my glasses, studies them a moment, and flings them into a corner. My hair falls down everywhere as he pulls out the pin. "There we go. It’s always you professional girls who pop like firecrackers."
Professional. That’s me, no room in my life for anything like what he’s making me feel. To be taken seriously in a man’s world a woman’s gotta be ten times the man of everyone around her-- in control but never dominant, supportive but never motherly, attractive but never sexual. Soldier Boy’s yanking me out of my context and making me feel grateful for it right alongside the shame.
“Oh, good girl,” he tells me in a voice of pure intoxication as I reach up and link my hands behind his neck. My chest rises as my body stretches, lifting my bosoms and exposing my throat. Soldier Boy’s fingertips keep pressing, caressing, his touch light and sure and turning my whole body into a building thundercloud. His free hand covers my mouth and I sob out a strangled wheezing moan as I seize up in the hardest brightest climax I’ve ever had in my life.
I stumble forward and catch myself by my hands on the sink counter, panting and shaking. My hair hangs down in strings over my eyes. Chuckling to himself, Solider Boy steps back. I hear the clack of a lock. "Better hurry. You've only got five minutes."
Trembling like a newborn fawn, I readjust my clothes, do what I can for my hair and powder my nose. I look . . . like a hooker halfway through a long hard night on the streets but it's going to have to do. My bare crotch feels slimy and disgusting and without underwear I just have to hope my slip and skirt lining can hold the line against a wet spot bleeding through.
"Dammit Ben--" I hear someone say as I hurry out of the restroom. I'm the last one in as Security locks the doors. The VP of talent management's taken my seat and I'm stuck having to excuse myself to the only empty chair. I can hear the end of my career in the stony silence, see it in everyone's disgusted glare. Dear Lord strike me dead. Hell can't be much worse than this.
And yet, I can feel the weight of Solider Boy's stare on the back of my neck. My sex burns and throbs, weeping a tiny trickle of nectar and making my slip stick to me. God help me but if he wanted to throw me on the floor down in front of everyone, I'd let him. Hell, I'd thank him.
Finally, mercifully, it's over. I've got a redeye back to Seattle and a long weekend of head-clearing drudgery ahead of me in the privacy of my own home. Doing my best to ignore the lecherous smirks, I make a show of packing up my attaché case as the room clears. I'll feel better after a nice big room service supper, a hot shower, and a few hours of sleep.
As I'm following the pack towards the bank of elevators, a long arm snatches me into a hallway I didn't notice before and before I can say Jack Robinson I'm being whisked into an empty elevator. Strong arms lift me out of my shoes and guide my legs in a monkey wrap. My head goes light and swimmy as lips clamp over mine and a broad tongue licks its way into my mouth. I'm weightless, underwater, drowning. My body doesn't belong to me any more. It belongs to him.
"Sweet like candy," Solider Boy mumbles between kisses.
"I've got to catch a plane--" I squeak.
"No. You don't." The elevator door beeps open and Solider Boy carries me to my fate. --- AN2: Soldier Boy strikes me as the type of sexual predator who lives in that dubcon twilight zone of But They Really Wanted To and refuses to entertain the idea that consent under duress is invalid.

Sometimes, on your fourth day on the road, you get so sick of the way the one pair of shorts you packed fit that when after a full day of driving, you go to the cheapest clothing store in Fort Nelson, buy a pair of patterened rayon jeans on clearance, and hack them off at the knees with the dull kitchen scissors that live in the van. Although these makeshift shorts do not necessarily fit you better than the ones you packed, they at least fit you differently.
Four days on the road. Temporally, this puts me halfway through the eight-day itinerary. At just over 1000 miles from Seattle (as the Google maps, not counting some side trips and the occasional back-tracking for a good view), and a little under 1000 from Tok, Fort Nelson puts me about halfway through the drive geographically, as well.
I started the morning in Dawson Creek, at Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway. (I met a nice Swiss couple at the mile marker who were, like me, getting their photo op in. They'd driven from Halifax and were planning to go all the way up the Dalton Highway! Because I am the kind of nerd that I am, as soon as I got back in the car, I turned on "The Last of Barret's Privateers" and belted about being a broken man on a Halifax pier in their honor.) Immediately outside Dawson Creek there was a lot of truck traffic, and I spent quite a while tailgating and being tailgated as steep grades and a lack of passing lanes kept us all stuck together.
By the time I reached my first rest stop in Wonowon, though, the driving had changed noticeably. In the first three days I spent a decent amount of time keeping an eye on my mirrors for people in smaller cars that would want to pass me. Once I was truly on the highway, the number of passing vehicles dwindled significantly. And the landscape spread out soon enough into rolling evergreen forests, bisected by the road. It's August, so fireweed dusts the cleared firebreaks on either side of the highway in a Barbie pink that looks unreal and is almost impossible to capture on my phone's camera. The deciduous trees flash the pale undersides of their leaves at the northbound traveler, revealing how windy it is.
This is what I think of when I think of the Highway: these long, straight stretches with big sky and no one around. The kind of wildlife I associate with the north is starting to appear, too. I saw a black bear galumph across the road around 4PM, and a little further on I saw a doe nursing a faun beside the road. Both obviously moved too fast for me to get pictures. The blackbirds scavenging on the highway are also clearly ravens, now: they're too fucking big to be crows. The other day I saw a black bird so big that I couldn't not spot it, despite the shade of the trees. Ravens are big.
The halfway point means I've been out here long enough to get a couple routines down. It also means I've been out here long enough to decide on problems -- e.g. the aforementioned shorts, the fit of which I am sick, or the buurned-on bits of fries I reheated in a pan without any oil the other nnight. But overall, as I told a local while I filled up today, the van treats me well.
Halfway also means I start thinking about the end of the trip. To be honest, today I thought about stopping earlier than Fort Nelson, partly because I was much more tired from yesterday's drive than expected, and partly because I don't want to rush. The lack of services between Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson ended up deciding me and I pushed on, but the possibility of extending the time on the road, letting the bubble of travel get just a little bigger, is tempting.
On the other hand, I miss my dog. And paying less than $150 per gas tank refill. Getting to Alaska, and then home, will be nice. When I get there.
A few less highfaluting thoughts (I blame Nabokov for the style): tonight I not only got to use the levelers to even out one side of the van for the night, I'm swatting skeeters like mad. The bugs are most definitely getting worse as I go north. The windshield is a war zone, and when I stopped earlier I found the van SURROUNDED by wasps and flies. Are they feasting on their fallen brethren? will they please leave me alone???

fuck it friday
thank you for the tag @anewkindofme
This is inspired by a talk we had about Alex getting through med school, and as shes posted her stripper Jackson fic recently its making me wanna explore this more
so this miiiiight be a new wip im starting which is a lot more angsty and alex has gone through even more and is working as a sex worker to afford suppressants so he doesn't regress, scared hell lose his job as a surgeon
its going to be a Merder fic naturally
heres a big look at it!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Oh, here, tip for ya.” Alex watched as he grabbed his wallet, slipping out a $10 bill, not a massive tip, but still more money he could use. He took it from him, sending him his most charming smile as he did, “Thanks,” his eyes flickered to the towel on the bed, it was black but Alex could see the dried liquids from the night before dried on it… and the fact it was a little damp. He picked that up too, “I’ll dump this in the laundry for you.” “Damn, get the whole service from you, huh, pretty boy.” Alex didn’t say anything, the asshole’s smile made his skin crawl. He didn’t want the guy to see that he’d pissed himself in his sleep, even just a little, it’d either piss him out, or even worse, he’d be into it, what he might be able to infer from it. Like hell he was putting himself in that situation. He grabbed his cellphone, said a quick goodbye, and ‘thank you’, then fled the room, dumping the towel in some laundry chute as he left the fancy hotel, keeping his head down, knowing that he didn’t fit in here, even in his best clothes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His cell buzzed as soon as he was in his car. Jimmy Evans. Fucker. Demanding more money again. He was always demanding money. Jimmy, his deadbeat asshole father, had found out about his classification through Alex’s old wrestling coach, that was what he had told Alex when he got in touch when Alex moved to Seattle last year. Littles who were surgeons weren't common, especially openly, some might have special dispensation to be them, like Jackson Avery. But Alex wasn’t some legacy, he didn’t have his own money, he didn’t have the power of a family name, and he didn’t have some rich renowned-surgeon as a caregiver and soon to be adoptive father. He was a nobody, having to fight for his chance to be a full surgeon one day, having to fuck people for money to survive, and having to pay off his biological father so he could even stand a chance to survive. He ignored the text, the threats to out Alex at work, which would force him to be put into the system yet again, only this time he wouldn’t get to age out. He set off driving, faster than he should, he’d reply to the text later on, he’ll send the money, and hope that Jimmy would OD on it, or something.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alex pounded on the door of the motel, three rooms down from his own. He hadn’t had time to even change from what he was wearing the night before, he’d have to have a shower at work, scrub his skin with the antiseptic smelling soap, it’d have to be quick: he was just glad he’d made the asshole wear protection, some of them were worse, and Alex would have had to spend a lot more time on clean up. He pounded on the door again. “C’mon,” he growled under his breath. He raised his fist again but the door opened, revealing another smirking naked asshole. Alex was so sick of assholes, but this was yet another one he had to play nice with. “Ali!” “Alex.” “That’s what I said. What’s up man? You’re waking us up,” he pushed the door open so Alex could see the three other people in the bed, he didn’t react, he was mostly just impressed that they’d managed to fit so many people in the shitty motel beds. “I need more shit,” he shot him a look, he wasn’t going to say the word, not here with strangers. “Ah, the suppressants? You’re out already, man?” “It’s been a month, I’m completely out.” The guy nodded, he was still so clearly high himself, but he stumbled back into his room, rooting around on a coke covered dresser for the right bottle among all the others. Alex tapped his fingers against the doorway, he was going to be late, and he needed the meds. “Here.” He held up the bottle as he got back to the door. He didn’t hand it over. “$80.” Alex took in the bright green bottle, frowning as he caught sight of the name on it, written on in sharpie. “What? No, Dylan! That’s the worst shit, I got stuck on them last month too, you said you’d get the better ones, the white bottle ones.”

Video shows prostitution, gunfights on Seattle street corner as city lawmakers aim to temper 'unsafe' problem
New Post has been published on https://sa7ab.info/2024/08/16/video-shows-prostitution-gunfights-on-seattle-street-corner-as-city-lawmakers-aim-to-temper-unsafe-problem/
Video shows prostitution, gunfights on Seattle street corner as city lawmakers aim to temper 'unsafe' problem
A shocking video shown to the Seattle City Council’s Public Safety Committee depicts an area plagued by prostitution and multiple nights of gunfights.Seattle City Councilmember Cathy Moore is proposing legislation that establishes policies that govern arrests involving prostitution and loitering, as well as creating Stay Out of Areas of Prostitution (SOAP) zones, that if violated, could result in charges.”This legislation seeks to disrupt the violent criminal enterprise of the commercial sex trade by specifically focusing enforcement efforts on the buyers, who are the johns, and the promoters, who are the pimps, while emphasizing diversion to social services, safe houses and treatment for the sellers, mostly women and girls,” Moore said. She then presented a compilation video giving a snapshot of the sex trade along Aurora Avenue in North Seattle, followed by multiple nights of gun violence all having taken place this year.SCHOOLYARD, SPORTS FIGHTS WOULD BE PUNISHABLE BY FELONY UNDER PROPOSED BILL IN DEMOCRAT-RUN STATEThe video opens with a time-lapse showing several women being trafficked and sold on a single corner between midnight and 1 a.m. Several vehicles are seen driving through the area and picking up women. The next clip was from March 7, and was taken at the corner of N. 101st St. and Aurora Avenue N. A vehicle is seen driving down N. 101st St., as another vehicle turns the corner and opens fire with more than 30 shots ringing out.At the same location on June 10, the video shows a vehicle driving down the same road and speeding off before two men step into the roadway and start firing their pistols at the vehicle.MASKED THIEVES PROWLING STREETS NEAR SEATTLE SCHOOLS TO MUG STUDENTS: POLICEA shootout took place at the same corner again on July 6, this time with prostitutes standing on the corner trying to drum up some business. The gunfire erupted when a man wearing a black shirt opened fire on five other individuals, who returned fire.In the video shown during the committee meeting, Dana Mogillo, owner of Fuzzy Buddy’s Dog Daycare on Aurora Avenue, spoke about the unsafe atmosphere near her business.”We’ve been there for 20 years… It’s become a very challenging place to run a business,” she said. “It is unsafe. There’s visible signs of crime day and night.”JURY AWARDS $700K TO SEATTLE PROTESTERS JAILED FOR WRITING ANTI-POLICE SLOGANS IN CHALK ON BARRICADEMogillo said a couple of weeks before she was recorded for the video, one of her staff members went into the parking lot and saw a sex worker hiding between two cars. After speaking with the sex worker, Mogillo’s staff member learned another pimp dropped a girl off to fight the sex worker. The woman did not want to fight, so she was hiding in the parking lot. Ultimately, Mogillo added, her staffer ended up driving the scared sex worker to another location on Aurora Avenue.”I had another woman show up at my door in May who was terrified. She was crying. She had been abducted from another city,” Mogillo said. “She had been brought to this neighborhood and told to go stand on the corner and make money. She was scared. She ended up hiding in my business for four hours before someone could drive from her town over here to pick her up. This is what sex trafficking looks like.”Detective Maurice Washington of the Seattle Police Department said in the clip that one of the greatest challenges right now is there is an “onslaught of trafficking-related incidents,” not just locally, but around the country.SEATTLE BUSINESS OWNERS WARN VIOLENT CRIME IS HAPPENING ON A NEAR HOURLY BASIS: ‘THIS IS MADNESS’In Seattle, he said, there is an explosion number of people being sexually exploited. With that, he said, all the different pimps and traffickers are fighting over the territory, which leads to gun violence and other types of crimes like robberies and rapes.”All of this is fed through the same system. It is the same ecosystem that feeds crime,” Washington said. Some of the traffickers and pimps are also associated with gangs, which introduces gang issues into the ecosystem, he explained.”All of those things feed together into a very adverse and challenging situation, a very dangerous situation for our public, for our residents and citizens who live up there,” Washington said. The Seattle Police Department did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the matter.AFTER SHOOTING, SEATTLE PARENTS REGRET SCHOOL KICKING OUT OFFICERS IN 2020: ‘WHO IS PROTECTING OUR BABIES?’Moore said her proposed legislation is intended to help get a handle on public safety for the residents who live in those neighborhoods, for the businesses that are trying to survive, and the students who have to travel through the area to get home after being dropped off by the school bus.”We cannot continue to have this level of gun violence in our city, nor can we have this continue to have this level of sexual exploitation of human beings on our street corners,” Moore said.Moore told the committee members she spoke with constituents, the YWCA, the police department’s Major Crimes unit, the Human Trafficking unit and others to find out what the issues surrounding the area were, before producing the proposed legislation. She said this bill, for the first time, allows police officers to go after the buyers without the use of undercover officers, which she noted is degrading that women have to participate in undercover stings as sex workers.ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTERS IN SEATTLE DELAY CAMPUS ENCAMPMENT AFTER BEING CALLED OUT FOR LACK OF DIVERSITY: REPORTThe bill also offers diversion for the first time, meaning, it gives officers the ability to approach sex workers and talk about getting them help and offering professional services. In Seattle, prostitution is illegal, and according to Moore, many people do not understand that prostitution is illegal.Promoting prostitution is a felony and requires testimony from the sex workers to establish a case. Testimony puts additional heightened risk on the sex workers, and it makes it difficult to prove the case.Moore’s bill also directs the city’s Human Services Department and mayor’s office to create a work program that will provide advocates who work with individuals with prostitution-related convictions. The goal is to have the convictions scrubbed from their record so when they apply for a job or housing, it does not exist.Moore did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital for comment.

Hi Cossette! Merry Christmas and I hope you have an amazing 2024 ahead of you 🎅
The past few months was quite eventful, but I'm very excited that I've got tickets to see Laufey at her Bewitched Tour next year & I've also got a few weeks of Christmas holidays to relax!
I felt the frustration of the reading slump: I've been reading more books electronically this year and I have came to the conclusion that it's more challenging to read fantasy ebooks (many fantasy novels come with footnotes / glossary terms). So I'm considering just buying more fantasy hardcopies or read them while I have the chance to go to bookstores!
Speaking of Maisie's discography, this is my current ranking of her music: YSUFT -> It's Your Bed, Babe -> TGW (after deluxe version came out) -> Dressed Too Nice For A Jacket - > Trying
I was initially a bit hesitant with the overall flow of the standard version of The Good Witch, but after listening to the deluxe version I found the storytelling more complete! My favourite deluxe track is def. Yoko! What about you?
As of Olivia Rodrigo, I prefer Guts over Sour: both overall & individual songs! My favourites are love is embarrassing & get him back! And for Laufey's Bewitched, I think that's one of my favourite new albums in 2023: my favourites are Haunted & Letter To My 13 Year Old Self!
Holly Humberstone's Paint My Bedroom Black is highly enjoyable! I need to relisten to it more but I love the title track 💖
P.S. I've got around listening to Del Water Gap's album and have been obsessed with NFU! I think 2023 is one of the most exciting years in terms of music releases 😃
hi jennifer!!! hope you had a wonderful holiday + wishing you all the best for 2024 🤍 i hope you've been having the loveliest time traveling too!
i'm so so jealous you got tickets to see laufey live! i missed her last tour because she was here on my mom's birthday, and then her next seattle stop coincides with when i'm out of town :( i can't wait to hear about your concert! is there anything in particular you'd like to hear her sing live? i really love letter to my 13 year old self too!!
the fantasy ebook dilemma is REAL!! i remember reading an arc of ... i want to say little thieves (which i loved, btw! would recommend if you haven't read it) and got to the end and then realized there was a glossary and was like ... well this would've been helpful! i have a lot of fantasy books that have piled up on my shelves over the last few years that i really need to get to but all i want to do is reread the starless sea (which i think i'll do in january)! i like starting off the year with a reread — i feel like it takes less pressure off deciding a perfect first 2024 read.
i love love love yoko — i was listening to it earlier and was like "wait ... this needs to be on my normal people playlist"! i think yoko is probably my favorite of the deluxe songs, but truth is and the last one are also ones i really love! and i think the song and holy revival are so fun to sing in the car! it's been a hot minute since i've listened to dressed too nice for a jacket, but i think i'd rank trying higher than it + it's your bed...!
i also prefer guts over sour — i got guts tour tickets, and i'm super excited to hear olivia live! i think my favorites are pretty isn't pretty, making the bed and lacy, but i think it's just such a good album! i do really like sour; i think i just listened to it so much when it first came out that i needed a break from it and now i just rarely reach for it for some reason?
i'm glad you like holly and the new del water gap!! i think my favorites from paint my bedroom black are: cocoon, room service and elvis impersonators, and i think my most played on i miss you already + i haven't left yet are all we ever do is talk, and losing you, so i'd wager those two are my favorites!
are there any albums you're looking forward to in 2024? i'm really excited for the new bleachers (and super curious to see how signing with dirty hit affects them, if it does at all)! speaking of dirty hit artists, benjamin francis leftwich is an artist who i really love and he has a new album coming out in february that i'm stoked for. and then i saw rumors about a new sabrina carpenter album in 2024? which i would absolutely love!

Loser. - Jacob Black X Mike Newton X Edward Cullen - 18+ MPreg - 6. Occupied
Riley Biers: 18, Xavier Samuel, Newborn Vamp TW: SA February 12th, 2006 9:05 PM Mike was still a little upset at what happened this morning. Jacob hasn't been texting him back, and Bella hasn't been coming to work, so he drove to La Push to confront him but was stopped. Mike tried to run him over, but he was too fast. Sam Uley stood before the SUV and told him they were dealing with werewolf stuff, and he couldn't be a part of it.
He kept trying to call him hands-free as he was driving to Seattle. Since Mike could drive by himself, they had been forcing him to go. He hated this long ass trip, but at least he got to hang out with his parents. He doesn't like his parent's views but still loves them. He would even sing and gossip with them on this trip.
He did errands for his parents, such as getting used Bibles from closing down churches, attending storage unit auctions, and picking up his mother's order from a furniture store. When he was done, he walked through the mall to a music store to listen to more audiobooks or CDs on his drive home.
He also spent a pretty penny on a tuxedo for the dance, he always had to use the hand-me-downs from his Uncle, and most of his clothes were from the 80s. Mike used some of his earnings to eat out before he had to head home, Romano's Macaroni Grill. The only food restaurant to eat at was Keatons in Forks, and that was mostly fried food. Port Angeles had some chains, but they would have to come to Seattle if they wanted good food.
He felt a little stupid going to the dance alone for two days. It was a combination of the winter formal and valentines Day so the school could save money. He was hoping that it was Eric calling him to tell him that he locked down most of the voters giving them 50% off coupons to Olympic Outfitters.... but it was Jacob.
"Hello..."
"Hey, Sam told me that you were trying to come see me. You want more of this-"
"Why haven't you been texting me back," Mike interrupted as Jacob had acted like he was 'the Man' after fucking him the other day.
"Oh, there are a couple of people after Bella. The Wolves are stepping in to protect her since vampires suck." Jacob said in a 'no big deal' tone.
"Should I be worried?"
"Nah, I marked my territory around your house and in your car, if you know what I mean,"
"I knew my car smelled different," Mike mumbled.
"Where are you at? Eric's again?" Jacob asked as he lay down on the branch outside Bella's room.
"I had to run some errands for my parents. I am eating on a balcony right now,"
"When are you going to be back? I miss your scent," Jacob said, and Mike blushed... he hated that it turned him on that Jacob was always smelling him.
"My food just came out, so probably four or so hours," Mike mumbled, wanting to be in bed. He wanted to convey how mad he was at Jacob, but it wasn't coming across as he missed him so much.
"Wait... 4 hours? Where are you," Jacob sat up, realizing he didn't answer the first time.
"Seattle?" Mike said, a little concerned that Jacob's tone had changed. "Hello?" Mike asked as he could tell Jake was quickly talking, but he was breaking up. He looked at his phone. "Sorry, I am losing service. I will text you when I am headed home,"
Mike chowed down on his pizza and 'built a pasta.' He put almost everything on the menu and loved every bite. He wiped his mouth with a napkin when he felt eyes on him. He turned to see in front of him to see a good-looking guy and a red-headed woman sitting at a table at the end of the balcony. He blushed but finished eating, giving the waitress a large tip before he left.
He still felt eyes on his back and was a little spooked. He asked a larger waiter to see him at his SUV, far from in the parking lot. He texted Jake that he was off, but when driving just outside the city. He saw it didn't end when he parked at a gas station. He kept trying to send it as he filled up his tank.
As he had downed several glasses of Dr. Peppers at lunch, he was icked out by the gas station. No one was there but one gas station attendant, there were blinking lights, and the sound of the buzzing light almost overpowered the highway. He locked his Escalade looking around before he ran into the station. He looked around for the bathroom but couldn't find it.
"Bathrooms are outside," The employee said without looking up from his magazine.
"Really?" Mike whined, and the man looked up, "I mean, can't I pay you, and I can use the employee bathroom? Going to outside bathrooms in creepy gas stations is like Horror Film 101,"
"Bathrooms. Are. Outside," He repeated, and Mike groaned. He told himself he was just being skittish, and he couldn't make it to drive to another gas station. He ran to the side of the station. and then to the other side as he went the wrong way.
Knocking on the door, he didn't hear anyone saying 'occupied.' so he turned the knob. He gasped as the first thing he saw was a man with black eyes looking down at him with a smirk. He recognized him as the guy staring at him at the restaurant. He stepped back before running to his car and screaming bloody murder, but the guy cupped his face.
"Come on inside..." Riley said with compulsion dripping out of his mouth, Mike tried to fight it, but he felt his body moving forward.
Mike was cornered into the bathroom as his omega was drawn to the vampire. He tried not to look into his eyes since Jake told him when he was face to face with a vampire as thats the main thing with compulsion. Riley still didn't know how not to play with his food, but Mike was so delicious. They didn't know he was with Bella's group before the phone call, but they had been stalking him throughout the day.
"Your scent has been driving me insane all day, even with that mutt's scent mixed in with it," Riley said, cupping Mike's face. He could feel the blood flowing through every vein in his body. Mike was shivering as he was terrified. He knew what he was. It didn't help that the man was freezing cold. He ripped Mike's shirt off and thumbed the mark on his neck.
Mike pushed at his chest, but he didn't budge. He felt an ice-like fit under his waist badly and down to prod his pretty hole. Mike's body betrayed him and slicked up. He moaned and lulled his head back, resting on the wall.
"I am going to turn you... you will be my plaything when Victoria is being difficult," Riley whispered in his ear, "I know you hate Bella. I could feel it when the mutt said her name."
"I-I don't, though," Mike whimpered as he rested his head on Riley's neck, letting down his guard as Riley found the vein in his neck before latching his teeth. He screamed and writhed in pain with the venom injected into his veins. The Newborn Vampire widened his eyes as he heard footsteps approaching. He was ready before the door was off the hinges. He vowed to himself that he would finish the job later and fully turn Mike, but he had to book it now.
"Shit..." Edward was torn between catching up with Riley, killing him, and helping Bella's friend writhing on the floor. He was an Omega, so the venom wasn't fatal to him. His body could naturally fight off anything.... but he was an empath. "Mike," Edward really didn't know his name. It was shot in the dark out of three names starting with M's.
"G-Go after him," Mike hissed as tears streamed down his face, "He mentioned Bella," Mike said, trying to be the bigger person as he was going through the worst pain his entire life. He felt lifted and pinned up against the wall in place as Edward was sucking the venom out of him.
Edward really struggled, even more than when he had to suck the venom out of Bella. Slight blood made it through with the venom, making his eyes dilate. It was unlike anyone he had drained before... If human blood was like cocaine for Vampires, the Omega's blood was heroin.
Mike panted as the venom escaped his body. A small amount was left as Edward didn't want to get any straight blood. Edward lapped his tongue over the bite to close it, panting along with Mike as he rested his head on the dirty tiles of the bathroom.
The Employee wasn't coming out of the station. He knew what had happened in these streets. "E-Edward?"
"It's okay, I am okay... just need a minute to recuperate," Edward was fighting the urge to drain Mike. It was good that Carlisle had made Emmett come after them when word got around Mike was in Seattle. Bella was the only human Carlisle had gotten attached to in centuries, but he needed to ensure he was safe with all the opportunities with Mike.
"Eddie, you okay?" Emmett asked, stepping into the bathroom. Mike looked at the corner of the room, not wanting to look into Emmett's eyes. Eric wasn't really a detective. The Cullens knew Mike was a little obsessed with Emmett as he stared at him constantly. "The Douche is going to kill you if you bite him..."
"I'm good... I'm good," Edward licked his lips and dug his nails into his palms. "Take him to his car... I need to eat," He bit his lip, and Emmett quickly relieved him. Edward left a cold gust leaving Mike freezing and vulnerable. He quickly crossed his arms over his chest as he felt a little self-conscious about his budding nipples.
Emmett hadn't touched a human for decades; remembering he had to be gentle, he took off his coat and wrapped it around Mike's shoulder. This bathroom was so disgusting he didn't want to pick the shirt up off the floor and put it back on him.
"Can you walk, or are you lightheaded," Emmett asked.
"Yes..." Mike said and stepped, but the bathroom was swirling in his vision. Emmett chuckled and picked him up, toting him to the car.
"He is safe. Edward is eating," Emmett pulled out his phone and called Bella, knowing that Jacob could hear him. Trying to avoid the mutt was pointless as he snatched the phone from Bella.
"He was bitten, who bit him... I am going to rip their necks off and feed them to vultures while he is still alive," Jacob rambled nonsense, showing Bella how much he cared about Mike.
"He was bitten by the same Vampire that was snooping around Bella's room, Victoria's bitch," Emmett said, snapping in Mike's face and ensuring he was responsive. He heard Alice trying to calm Jacob down, saying he was an Omega and wouldn't turn.
"We will get him later. I can see it... Does Mike need anything? You can feel what he is deficient in," Alice spoke, but Jacob growled, jumping out of the window as he felt himself near shifting. "Em, is he responsive?" She could hear the snaps.
"Sort of. I think he is just nervous around me," Emmett said, and Mike blushed, "When Edward gets back, I will go into the store and buy him some Gatorade and crackers,"
"We need you back here as you're the strongest. Tell Edward he needs to drive Mike back," Alice told him, and Emmett nodded, trying to get Mike to tell him what happened before Edward arrived.
------- TW: Mentioned Childhood Abuse 10:59 PM Mike was still sipping on his Gatorade and trembling as they made it through Elwha. Mike was understandably weary around vampires. It was a little comical that Edward was putting up with listening to High School Musical with Mike on the way home. He turned down the radio slightly to talk.
"Michael..." Edward spoke, and Mike flinched but then looked at Edward, "Michael was the name of the first person I drained the life from... he was a rapist-murderer in London, England. He was a horrible person, but I guess you are okay..."
"Is that why you don't like me?"
"Huh? Of course not," Edward scoffed, "You're not the same person... I don't like humans. You're a good friend to Bella, though, even though it seems she isn't as good to you,"
"So, one of the first things you ever say to me is that I have the same name as a murderer?"
"I didn't mean it like that... I am not a talker. Ask Bella." Edward furrowed his eyebrows and looked over at the innocent human. "I am so sorry I wasn't here earlier... my Uncle used to..." Edward said that before he stopped, no one knew about his childhood trauma. "I'm... I'm just sorry."
"It's not your fault... either one," Mike said, looking down, "The camp counselor at the church camp my parents sent me to when I was six used to touch me... they didn't believe me when I told them and kept sending me back," Mike said, and Edward was surprised at the honesty. It took him over a century to talk about what happened to him.
"What the hell?" Edward asked himself, and Mike widened his eyes as he had just told one of his darkest secrets, "Not you," Edward placed a hand on Mike's shoulder as he pulled over.
"What are you doing? Why are you pulling over," Mike said, and Edward gave an annoyed look as he pointed into the woods. For the first time, Mike saw Jacob in all his wolf glory jumping out of the woods and forming back into his human. They were almost an hour away from Forks, and he had been running since he jumped out of Bella's window.
When he saw him, Mike pulled at the handle, and Edward unlocked the doors. They tackled each other in an embrace. While Jacob wanted to do the same, Mike was sobbing but staying strong.
"Thank you, Bloodsucker," Jacob said, hiding his face in Mike's neck, sucking and licking at his wound to improve it. "I got it..." He said, and Edward gave him a nod stepping out of the Escalade and running back to Bella's house. "I love you," Jacob said for the first time and nuzzled his nose into Mike's neck, comforting him as he cried, "I am so sorry I wasn't protecting you..."
