The beach was great place to commence this beautiful day with the Elwood Beach Clean Up, organised by Sea Shepherd Marine Debris Campaign. This beach looks clean from this video, but it actually wasn’t, with thousands of pieces of broken down plastics and cigarette butts and plenty of other rubbish all through the sand. B&W GWS. Single cage. It was a long morning this day, a lot of clients. The skipper came down as I was gathering wetsuits and asked me if I wanted to hop in the single cage. I didn’t have my contacts in but I jumped at the opportunity. Most of my gopro shark images are from the single cage. Sooner or later I will get out of the cage and be surrounded. One can only hope. The madness from being around humans take a toll, whereas being surrounded by these predators would put me at peace. The initiative, called Zero Mkt, promises zero animal products, zero single-use plastics, and zero waste, proposing to focus on reusable, recyclable, and compostable products instead. Zero Mkt will be located in the Conservatory in the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington. It is set to debut September 29, 2018, and tickets for the launch are already available online for £3.73 (around $5). Any profit will be donated to Animal Equality and surplus food from the market will be donated to City Harvest! The market organizers also encourage shoppers to bring their own zero waste food containers and utensils if they are already on hand. The market is still open for stall bookings by zero waste and vegan businesses. The three-page bill to outlaw the bags by next year was introduced on April 23, 2018 – a day after Earth Day. According to the New York Times, The decision to finally embrace a statewide ban comes over a year after Cuomo, seeking re-election in the fall, blocked a five-cent charge that New York City sought to place on disposable plastic bags. Seeking. Found some time to get this little dude on a nice block colour background, in between the daily struggle to complete an #inktober piece 😊😊 Reminds me of a photograph that's been swimming around of one of these seahorses latched onto a plastic straw (instead of good old seaweed). It's not hit me until quite recently (shame shame, I know) that the little houses we live in are not closed loop - a lot of the things we throw out end up in our oceans. I'm going to be making an effort to be more conscientious, to saying no to one-use items like drinking straws.
