◉ Medium Viking Longship Pendant: Weight: approx. 16 grams (056 oz) Diameter: 35 mm (1.37 inches) One-sided viking pendant
The Drakkar Pendant, also known as the Viking Longship Pendant, is a round silver pendant with Viking ornamentation adorning its circumference. At the center of the pendant, you will find the symbol of a Viking longship. The Vikings, known as "pirate raiders," were skilled seafarers who embarked on voyages of exploration and plunder. The word "Viking" originates from the Old Norse term "Vikingr," which means "pirate raid." Their sea vessels, often referred to as "horses of the waves," symbolized speed and power. During the period between 850 and 1000 AD, the Vikings ventured to various countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, North Africa, and even discovered Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland. The Vikings were renowned shipbuilders, and their most famous vessel was the longship. The longship, also called the Viking longboat, was a powerful and versatile ship. It had an average length of 25-30 meters and could accommodate up to 60 men. In addition to longships, the Vikings also utilized other types of boats such as Knarrs and Karves. These ships were not only used for exploration and raids but also had symbolic significance in funerals, representing a safe passage to the afterlife. The Viking longship was instrumental in the Vikings' success in their travels. As their raids yielded rewards, the Vikings built larger ships like the Skeid and the Busse, allowing them to travel in larger parties over vast oceans, thus aiding them in acquiring valuable treasures. The Drakkar Pendant, or Viking Longship Pendant, pays homage to the Viking's maritime prowess and adventurous spirit. Crafted from sterling silver, it embodies the artistry and craftsmanship of Viking jewelry. It serves as a tangible connection to Viking history and represents the Vikings' fearless exploration and powerful seafaring capabilities. Wear the Drakkar Pendant proudly as a symbol of Viking heritage and the spirit of adventure associated with the Viking longships. Let it serve as a constant reminder of the Vikings' legacy and their remarkable achievements on the seas.

The 2024-25 Vendée Globe solo round-the-world race, which starts from Les Sables d’Olonne on the French Biscay coast on November 10, will see the largest contingent of non-French entrants since the race was founded in 1989.
With 14 of the 40 starters hailing from outside France, this will be a truly international competition with sailors taking part from as far afield as Switzerland, Hungary, Great Britain, Italy, New Zealand, Japan, USA, Belgium, and Germany, but also for the first time from China.
Non-French sailors include some of the most competitive among the foiling boats. They include Boris Herrmann of Germany (Malizia-Seaexplorer), and Sam Davies (Initiatives-Coeur) and Sam Goodchild (Vulnerable) of Great Britain, who will each be aiming to become the first sailor from outside France to win the Vendée Globe.
…
Among the non-French entries this year the race sees its strongest ever representation from Asia. Kojiro Shiraishi of Japan is taking on the Vendée Globe for a third time on DMG Mori Global One, while Jingkun Xu, the remarkable one-armed sailor from Qingdao, will be the first Chinese sailor to attempt the race when he sets sail on Singchain Team Haikou.

GOOD NEWS, THE FOILS ARE LOUD AGAIN! - DAY 9 - NEW YORK VENDÉE
It's Day 9 of the solo race across the Atlantic and the wind has finally returned! Boris Herrmann can now fly towards the finish, will he manage to grab a podium position?
by Boris Herrmann
Day 9 // 6 June 2024 - 19:40 UTC
“Hello from Malizia - Seaexplorer! Yesterday, it felt great when I got the wind, when it finally kicked and the boat graually accelerated. And on flat water, I find it particularly nice to sail like that. I’m optimistic for the second place, my Adrena routers indicate that I have a comfortable margin ahead of the South Group. So I’m quite confident and that feels good! But having taken the North route means that I’m also quite isolated here. I’m the only boat in this area. I usually find that it is actually much nicer to have boats around. It was a bit difficult for me at the beginning when I needed to assume my choice, and the models were very uncertain then. Now, I have accepted the situation. I’m here, I’m doing my thing. And that’s it. So all good.

After the 2020 edition of the Vendée Globe generated unprecedented interest, the elite solo round the world race increased the number of places at the start to 40 IMOCA competitors for the 2024 edition.
The qualification rules had been strengthened since 2020, which required the sailors to take the start of two solo races and finish at least one of them between 2022 and 2024, in a time that does not exceed the winner’s time plus 50%. Among the 44 entrants, 42 skippers managed to qualify.
The limit was deemed necessary for safety reasons and to preserve the unique and exceptional characteristics of this race, with organizers having to make the final cut for the entrants to start on November 10, 2024.
