@ryan-sometimes - we call the same thing jugaad in India. A rough translation to English maybe 'frugal innovation' or 'hacks, but i dont think it captures the spirit. Jugaad to could anything from creating product solutions amidst scare resources, to finding hacks to navigate processes including social / corporate / government ones. Constraints seem to birth this kind of creativity. And it isn't surprising that cultures like Brazil and India (given their constraints and their aspirations amd energy) have alot running on gambiarra and jugaad! These are not poor solutions, but genius inventions. And they solve the problem brilliantly, but taking into account boundary conditions. Jugaad and Gambiarra needs to he celebrated more - not just as clever jokes or memes, but inventions in their own right... For they truly are acts of genius

I don't know what's in the air in Brazil that makes Brazilian people genuinely batshit. We're just built different

I'm not sure whether this is from Salcette of Bardez, I haven't understood the dialects well enough yet. Finding Konkani resources is tough, I've found this challenging as well. If you tell me what you're looking for, and if I've come across it, I'm more than happy to share it! I'd suggest widening your scope to goan konkani for now rather than being specific about the bardez or salcete details, you'll find a wider set of resources this way. For starters here's a crowdsource list i came across.

Could you share the videos you're learning from? Its possible that they're also using variations of words for 'my name is' rather than it being widely different. Incase im able to tell, I'll let you know.

This side blog will be for learning Saxtti and Bardeskari Konkani which are dialects of a language spoken in the north and south of a tropical state called Goa in the west of India.

Due to portuguese colonisation as well as several attempts from India to supress the language and culture Konkani is a spoken language. While there may be ~2 million native speakers accoriding to a 2011 census, that number includes dialects belonging to different parts of India including Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Gujurat, Daman and Diu. So the number of native Goan Konkani speakers is far lower.

Konkani is continuing to die out due to lack of native speakers, migration and of course the attempts to get rid of it which also causes a lack of resources and structure. While I am starting with learning it as a spoken language I hope to progress enough and figure out how to read and write as well. I will have to learn about grammar, sentence structure etc so I will also post about that.

Learning my mother tongue

I wouldn't have to learn it at this age, but well, colonialism and an anglo-centric world got in the way

It's 4am and i have fallen in love with the moon and can't sleep because i spent 2 hours looking at the blue supermoon and now for another 2 hours I've been listening to this song on repeat, like some star-struck lover.

There's something so unifying in how people of the land i call home look to the moon with love. It makes me feel less alone. To my Indian and Pakistani brethren, may we feel and spread love.

The green hue of "typing"

Things i did for the first time in the last year

- Travelled solo

- Said this is too much crabs, when i was eating crabs

- Saw real paintings of van gogh, monet

- Said no at work repeatedly

- Locked my self up in a room for a week and didn't speak to anyone at home because i was that angry and sad

- Wrote my parents a realllly long letter to improve things

- Patched up with a friend over matters from 15 years ago

- Fucked around and found out

- Jogged 10km within a month of an otherwise sedentary life

- Delivered a toast, and made her laugh and cry at the same time

- Actually maintained a larger proportion of last year's resolutions - which was the first time i was making resolutions

Some of my resolutions this year:

- Run 10km in 1.5hrs and walk a half marathon

- Date more intentionally

- Try atleast one new thing every month

- Don't waste too much time on negative things. Identify patterns and move on fast

- Maintain boundaries for myself
