The Power of Sea Moss Gel: A Natural Superfood You Need to Try
Sea moss gel has taken the health world by storm and for good reason! This natural superfood, derived from seaweed, is packed with nutrients that can boost your overall well-being. But what exactly is sea moss gel, and why should you consider adding it to your diet? Let’s dive into the benefits, uses, and everything else you need to know about this incredible natural product.
Tumblr media
What is Sea Moss Gel?
Sea moss, also known as Irish moss, is a type of red algae that grows along the Atlantic coasts of North America, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. When harvested and processed, it turns into a smooth, jelly-like substance known as sea moss gel. This gel is rich in vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients that are beneficial for your body.
Nutritional Powerhouse
One of the biggest reasons why sea moss gel is gaining popularity is its impressive nutritional profile. Here’s a quick look at some of the key nutrients found in sea moss gel:
Iodine: Essential for thyroid function, which regulates hormones and metabolism.
Calcium: Supports bone health and muscle function.
Potassium: Helps maintain healthy blood pressure levels and supports heart health.
Magnesium: Aids in muscle and nerve function, as well as energy production.
Vitamins A, C, and E: Powerful antioxidants that support skin health, immune function, and overall wellness.
In total, sea moss contains 92 of the 102 minerals that the human body needs. That’s a lot of nutrition packed into a small package!
Health Benefits of Sea Moss Gel
So, what can sea moss gel do for you? Here are some of the top benefits of incorporating it into your diet:
Boosts Immune System: Sea moss gel is rich in antioxidants and antiviral properties, which can help strengthen your immune system and protect your body from infections.
Supports Digestive Health: The high fiber content in sea moss gel can promote healthy digestion and prevent constipation. It also contains prebiotics, which feeds the good bacteria in your gut.
Enhances Skin Health: Due to its high vitamin and mineral content, sea moss gel can improve the appearance of your skin. It helps hydrate, soothe, and clear up skin conditions like acne and eczema.
Aids in Weight Loss: The fiber in sea moss gel can help you feel fuller for longer, reducing your overall calorie intake. Additionally, it may help boost your metabolism, making it easier to lose weight.
Promotes Heart Health: With its potassium and omega-3 fatty acids, sea moss gel can help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.
Supports Thyroid Function: Sea moss gel is an excellent source of iodine, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy thyroid. Your thyroid plays a key role in regulating your metabolism, energy levels, and even your mood.
How to Use Sea Moss Gel
Sea moss gel is incredibly versatile and can be used in a variety of ways. Here are some ideas on how to incorporate it into your daily routine:
Smoothies: Add a tablespoon of sea moss gel to your favorite smoothie for an extra nutritional boost.
Teas and Juices: Stir sea moss gel into your tea or juice for added flavor and health benefits.
Soups and Stews: Use sea moss gel as a thickening agent in soups and stews.
Face Masks: Apply sea moss gel directly to your skin as a natural face mask. It can help hydrate and rejuvenate your skin.
How to Make Sea Moss Gel at Home
If you prefer to make your sea moss gel at home, it’s quite simple! Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:
Rinse the Sea Moss: Begin by rinsing your dried sea moss thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
Soak the Sea Moss: Place the rinsed sea moss in a bowl and cover it with water. Let it soak for 12-24 hours. During this time, the sea moss will expand and soften.
Blend the Sea Moss: Once soaked, drain the water and place the sea moss in a blender. Add fresh water (about 1-2 cups) and blend until smooth.
Store the Gel: Pour the blended sea moss into a glass jar and refrigerate. It will thicken into a gel as it cools.
Your homemade sea moss gel will last for up to three weeks in the fridge, and you can use it in all the ways mentioned above!
Things to Consider
While sea moss uk offers numerous benefits, it’s important to use it in moderation. Too much iodine, for example, can lead to thyroid issues. If you have any pre-existing health conditions, it’s a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before adding sea moss gel to your diet.
Conclusion
Sea moss gel is a natural, nutrient-dense superfood that can benefit your health in a variety of ways. From boosting your immune system to improving skin health, this versatile gel is worth considering as a regular addition to your diet. Whether you buy it ready-made or decide to make your own, incorporating sea moss gel into your daily routine could be a simple step towards better health.

Geography:
Great Kettering is based on the UK islands physical geography*. Great Kettering has slight weather changes with the seasons, primarily an increase in humidity and less rainfall in the summer months. Mostly known to be cold and wet overall. Tsunamis can happen along the coast to the south, and south-east. Earthquakes are small distant shakes from the far west. Droughts are rare and only in very dire situations. Lots of coastal towns are on the coast cliffs rather than the coast, and therefore are generally safe from the usual tsunamis that occur. Boat living... isn't uncommon yet dangerous depending on the time of year (hence the phrase, sturdy like GK's fishers). Earthquakes aren't an issue just noticeable along the west border. Great winters are prepared for a lot like Solistal does.
*but only when I feel like it lol
Architecture:
GK is a mix of my personal headcanons for orcs and fantasy England. The most common form of landmark is the stone/moss circles, each with their own pattern, like a fingerprint. Generally, only those born in the area will be familiar with these landmarks without a map. Because of this, the moss circles are speculated to be linked to the orc-ish Aeons religion. Kelp forests are a special sight along GK coasts. The most well known location in GK is the sunken castle, and its bridges to nowhere. One explanation is that the coastal cliff was washed away and the castle was too heavy so it fell into the ocean to be forgotten, another blames the mythological 'Thorns' for putting it their during one of their tantrums. For a foreigner, the knight tourneys are a highly anticipated event due to the invitation of both the highest king and lowest servant. Most towns start with a safe drinking water source in the middle, market and community buildings around that, then common dwellings around those. For Kettering, the capital, there are 'districts' that citizens must get permits to build inside. These districts help with deliveries, city planning, guard patrols, and lock down procedures. Again, most towns are situated along the south coast, and it's either the direct coast or, if the cliffs are too severe, then it'll be as high on a hill they can get while still in viewing distance of the sea. On the north side of Great Kettering, it still follows the idea of the highest hills. Including Kettering, which itself has a 'natural moat' around it, although the city surrounding the castle has since expanded further around the lake as well. In smaller towns, people are clumped together, tiny and people live in each others pockets, whereas bigger towns are more spacious. That said, construction is trending towards taller rather than wider. Common structures are in the easy to acquire and transport materials, where the elegant marbles and quartz are left for Kettering or other religious sites in other large towns.
Trade/Commerce:
GK trade away seafood for different 'exotic' foods and their artisans are highly sorted after. They import from Solistal for specialty materials to craft with. Kamikita holds a chokehold on trading routes and this frustrates GK. They import from Birkina for island herbs and spices, as well as dyes for their crafts. Can be self-sufficient if trades were to be suddenly cut. The world trade is currency based but smaller store keepers accept barters... if you can talk them into it. Solistal's ores/minerals and their jewelcrafters are flaunted as expensive goods and a highly requested import. Whereas 'seals' or magical coins are the least sought after. GK's embroiders are the most asked for export.

Antarctica “greening” at rapid pace due to climate change
Vegetation cover on the Antarctic Peninsula grew more than tenfold over the past few decades as the climate warmed, according to The Guardian.
Satellite data showed that the vegetation covered less than one square kilometre in 1986. However, by 2021, the green cover was almost 12 square kilometres, with the spread of plants, mainly mosses, accelerating since 2016.
The growth of vegetation on the icy continent is a sign that global warming is spreading to Antarctica. Scientists have warned that it could become a bridgehead for alien invasive species in the intact ecosystem.
Dr Thomas Roland, at the University of Exeter, UK, and who co-led the study, stated:
The Antarctic landscape is still almost entirely dominated by snow, ice and rock, with only a tiny fraction colonised by plant life. But that tiny fraction has grown dramatically – showing that even this vast and isolated wilderness is being affected by human-caused climate change.
The peninsula totals about 500,000 square kilometres. Greening has also affected the Arctic, with rain rather than snow falling on top of Greenland’s huge ice cap in 2021 for the first time in recorded history.
Prof Andrew Shepherd of Northumbria University also found evidence of greening caused by global warming.
This is a very interesting study and tallies with what I found when I visited Larsen Inlet [on the peninsula] a couple of years ago. We landed on a beach that was buried beneath the Larsen Ice Shelf until the shelf collapsed in 1986-88. We found it to now have a river with green algae growing in it! (…) It’s a barometer of climate change but also a tipping point for the region as life now has a foothold there.
The acceleration in the spread of mosses since 2016 coincides with the start of a remarkable decline in sea ice around Antarctica. Warmer open seas can lead to more humid conditions that favour plant growth, researchers say. Mosses can colonise bare rock, creating soil and conditions for other plants to grow.
Dr Olly Bartlett, at the University of Hertfordshire and also co-leader of the new study, said:
Soil in Antarctica is mostly poor or nonexistent, but this increase in plant life will add organic matter, and facilitate soil formation. This raises the risk of non-native and invasive species arriving, possibly carried by eco-tourists, scientists or other visitors to the continent.
Another study in 2022 found that two native Antarctic flowering plants spread on Signy Island, just north of the Antarctic Peninsula. The trees grew at the south pole several million years ago, when the planet’s atmosphere last had as much CO2 as it does now.

On Being Naked I posted a story this morning wearing a flowing night dress into the sea because I wanted to feel the sensual beauty of both water and silky fabric on my skin back in my beloved sea after a warm summer night. Someone commented it was #internationalskinnydipday . I didn't know. I've just spent 10 days on my own 'water journey' in the UK traveling to and swimming in a wide array of water courses often accompanied by delightful people I've met through here, turning the virtual into the real. The only 'naked' swim I did during those 10 days was with deep and nourishing @katieandcrow who gifted me many things including this beautiful set of photos in this magical Cornwall forest and watercourse (#riverfowey) she generously shared with me. We removed our clothes but I didn't feel naked. I felt dressed for this moment in this place meeting it as a natural creature - of it, in it, with it, part of a whole - open, receiving, trusting, seen, guided, nourished. Two kindred spirits, water sprites, reveling in nature's bounty, relishing in the powerful cold, energetic flow, exploring the moss covered rocks and sizzling whirlpools, and feeling our star dust and water molecules vibrating intensely with the simple joy of being alive in such a magnificent place clothed in mutual connection. I felt at peace and in harmony in this moment, in this place. A blessing and a gift. Thank you!

Most Tree Planting Programs Are Not Eco-Friendly
When we clear-cut, it makes us feel guilty, and there are risks involved. Clear-cutting can affect our water quality, it increases the chances of flooding and landslides, and more. To make matters worse, it is common practice to put down herbicides to slow the growth of everything but conifers.
“In Canadian forestry, glyphosate-based herbicides have been used on over 96% of the forest area treated in the past decade.” ForestInfo.ca
To help repair the damage, people (sometimes even the logging companies themselves) do tree planting programs to replace the removed trees. However, while these programs do sometimes help in some ways, they are not perfect.
“You’re creating basically a sterile landscape,” said Paul Smith, who runs Botanic Gardens Conservation International, an umbrella group that works to prevent plant extinctions. “If people want to plant trees, let’s also make it a positive for biodiversity.” Tree Planting Is Booming. Here’s How That Could Help, or Harm, the Planet.
1. Tree planting programs do not diversify tree age
Most (if not all) tree planting programs plant trees of the exact same age, which is not healthy for the forest. Doing it that way has them all competing at the same time, so they all focus on growing tall as fast as possible. This leaves discarded branches on the bottom end of the trunk that is perfect fuel for a forest fire.
In a forest normally, trees are various heights and sizes, which creates a varied canopy with gaps that give opportunity for new growth. As well as all that, the matriarch trees will make room for their seedlings, send more nutrients, and tell them how to deal with stresses.
Now, some groups are going in and girdling the tree. That is when you cut a ring into the bark, which slowly kills it. This gives the tree enough time to send nutrients back into the forest, and killing it reduces the stress on the other trees by opening the canopy. That gap will allow more light in, allowing the other trees to slow down.
2. Species Selection
When replanting, companies often only plant the species of trees they want to cut down in the future, ignoring all the mosses, fungi shrubs, and everything else that was killed during the deforestation process.
Sometimes, the species are not even native to the area, and instead people are picking trees they think would be the most valuable, and they either can not make it in the climate, or they could be invasive.
3. Planting Where It Is Not Necessary
Sometimes, tree planting programs head into places where there were never trees to start. They mean, well, but it is the wrong type of vegetation for the area. The first may actually cause more carbon, while the second could spread invasive species, or take valuable nutrients away from native plants.
"Savannas and natural grasslands may have relatively few trees, critics noted, but these regions already hold plenty of carbon in their soils. When that carbon is accounted for, the carbon uptake benefit from planting trees drops to perhaps a fifth of the original estimate." Why planting tons of trees isn’t enough to solve climate change
___
So what is the answer for spaces already clear-cut? Rewilding might be it! This is a hot topic term in the UK as they try and bring forests back and reverse many years of damage.
Instead of just thinking about how to set up the forest so you can cut it down in the future, you instead think about how you can repair the forest just enough that you can let it heal.
That means nurturing all the removed vegetation (not just ones that offer future profit) and bringing back wildlife.
“Rewilding is a progressive approach to conservation. It’s about letting nature take care of itself, enabling natural processes to shape land and sea, repair damaged ecosystems and restore degraded landscapes. Through rewilding, wildlife’s natural rhythms create wilder, more biodiverse habitats.” Rewilding Europe

Tumblr media
What is Sea Moss?
Sea moss, also known as Irish moss, is a type of seaweed found along North America's and Europe's Atlantic coasts. It's a natural source of vitamins and minerals, making it a favourite among health enthusiasts. When processed, sea moss turns into a gel-like substance known as sea moss gel.

Resin Driveways: The Ultimate Solution for a Durable and Stylish Driveway in Castle Point, Grays, Upminster, Enfield, Westcliff on Sea, Romford, Epping Forest, and Dartford
Introduction
Resin driveways have just begun to enjoy greater popularity across the UK; they are completely first-class in terms of solidity, aesthetic appeal, and low maintenance. Resin driveway offerings cater perfectly to property value elevation, allowing curb appeal to several different towns. Homeowners in Castle Point, Grays, Upminster, Enfield, Westcliff on Sea, Romford, Epping Forest, and Dartford find resin driveways to be an ideal solution. Whether it's a stylish, modern look or an all-natural finish with stone, resin driveways give you yet another versatile option for complementing the different house styles. In this comprehensive guide, we are going to take a close look at the benefits, laying process, maintenance tips, and questions asked generally when one has to make a proper decision about resin driveways.
What is a Resin Driveway?
A resin driveway comprises resin mixed with aggregate, such as gravel or crushed stone, laid onto a prepared base and allowed to set. When mixed with aggregate to create a smooth, durable, seamless surface that is both permeable and resistant to the weather, the resin becomes a bonding agent. There are two categories of resin
driveways: resin-bound and resin-bonded.
Resin bound: The resin and aggregates are combined together then laid upon the driveway itself. The finish is smooth but permeable, allowing the passage of water.
Bonded with resin: The resin is laid on the surface first, followed by the aggregate, and the resulting surface is textured and impermeable.
Both have their merits, but in most cases, resin-bound driveways are more in demand because they can last longer and provide good drainage characteristics.
Advantages of Resin Driveways
Durability and Long Life
Resin driveways are tough and can support heavy traffic; a well-installed resin driveway may last for upwards of 20 years, making it therefore a very good long-term investment for your house. Resin It binds the aggregate tightly and, therefore, prevents the long-term cracking and erosion of the aggregate, even during extreme weather conditions.
Aesthetic Appeal
They come in different designs with myriad color and texture options available, varied finishes included. Whether it is a more classic stone look or the beauty of modern minimalism, resin driveways are able to be styled to suit your home's general appeal. The finish is also smooth, hence giving a rich feel to the class of your property's appeal.
Low Maintenance
Unlike regular paving or concrete, resin driveways require very little maintenance. They also do not allow moss and weed growth on their surface, hence reducing cleaning frequency. Just a random hose or pressure washing will serve your resin driveway for a lifetime of new look and feel.
Eco-Friendly
Because resin-bound driveways are permeable, that allows water to naturally drain into the ground. This helps reduce the rate of surface water runoff and prevents the occurrence of flooding; hence, an environmentally friendly choice. Further, due to the ability of resin driveways to let water permeate through, they do comply with SUDS regulation in the UK.
Cost-Effective
On the other hand, resin driveways are much more budget-friendly than alternatives, such as paving or block driveways. While these driveways are a bit more expensive to establish than gravel, long-term speaking, resin driveways are cheaper in that they hardly need any aftercare and will last longer.
Tumblr media
Resin Driveway Installation Process
Resin driveway installation involves accuracy and skill to make it durable, superior in finish, and of high quality. A summary of the general steps involved in installation follows:
Preparation and Excavation: The first step is site preparation by the removal of the existing surfaces and excavation to the required depth. This gives a solid foundation and avoids the future occurrence of shifting or sinking.
Base Course: A strong sub-base is laid normally in the form of MOT Type 1 to create a good bondage. This course is then compacted to provide a level surface.
Edging and Borders: This will be laid around the perimeter to contain the resin and provide a neat finish; it could be brick, stone, or metal edging.
Laying the Resin and Aggregate Mix: The selected diverse aggregates are mixed with the resin and spread over the surface evenly. Actually, this is when the experience and skill of the installer come into play because the mix has to be laid quickly before the resin sets.
Smoothing and Finishing: The resin is feathered off and evened out to provide a perfect, even finish. When the resin has set, the driveway is ready for use, and this is usually within 24 hours.
Maintenance Tips for Resin Driveways
Resin surfaces are generally low maintenance; however, some maintenance can be performed in order to extend the life and look of them:
Regular Cleaning: The surface is cleaned through the use of a hose or pressure washer. Harsh chemicals should not be used because these could degrade the resin.
Weed Control: While it is unlikely that weeds grow on the resin driveway, in instances, a weed killer would be used along the edges to keep growths at bay.
Address Stains without Delay: Oil and chemical stains need immediate cleaning. Cleaning is usually sufficient with mild detergent and water, but do not use harsh chemicals.
Annual Check: Annually inspect for any sort of cracks or damages, particularly if you are residing in an area receiving extreme weather conditions. Early repair can save you from minor issues that could be big later on.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Does a Resin Driveway Last?
A well-installed resin drive and properly maintained will last upwards of 20 years or so. The durability will depend on the quality of materials used, precision at the time of installation, and of course on the maintaining practices.
Are resin driveways slippery when wet?
Resin driveways are non-slip. Resin-bound surfaces, in particular, offer great grip while walking and can be safe even on wet conditions. Anti-slip additives can be added during installation if there is any need for more improvements to slip resistance.
How much does a resin driveway cost?
The cost of a resin driveway will depend on factors like the size of the driveway, aggregate type, and other installation details. Generally speaking, a resin driveway can cost anywhere between £40 and £100 per square meter for labour and material costs in the UK, but this is better if quoted based on your location and preference. You can call or contact us for this purpose.
Can resin driveways support heavy vehicles?
Yes, resin driveways are non-slip, highly durable, and can bear up to the weight of most vehicles. However, you have to ensure that the sub-base is adequately compacted to bear the load of heavier weights, especially if you would want to park large-sized vehicles on your driveway.
Do resin driveways require planning permission?
Because resin-bound driveways are permeable, they usually do not require planning permission. As a matter of fact, they do meet the SUDS requirements. On the other hand, resin-bonded driveways are non-permeable; thus, permission shall have to be sought by some dwellings and areas. Always confirm this from your local council if you are unsure.
Conclusion
For resin driveways, you get the three major features-magnificently pleasing to the eye, resilient, and practical-all in one unbeatable system. They are ideal for householders in Castle Point, Grays, Upminster, Enfield, Westcliff on Sea, Romford, Epping Forest, and Dartford who require a tasteful and durable driveway solution. With minimal maintenance required and designs to choose from, plus friendly environmental benefits, resin driveways have become the most desirable modern driveways in the UK.
Whether that be increasing curb appeal of your property, the value, or just having an ultra-low-maintenance driveway, resin definitely gives its all across the board.
