I saw son of sea foam on the list and LISTEN.

This fic is so good. I read it a year or two ago and it's like, as good as canon books. Maybe better.

Also all the other fics from this author, like fishing in alaska was so good and the son of sea foam/canon crossover (sons of sea and foam? I think? was so much fun lol

These fics were privated for a couple years or so bc the author was getting harassed, and I came across them right after that happened so I had to download pdf versions from someone on Reddit - but they're back now !!! And the fics are getting continuation !!! And I never expected that to happen and I'm freaking out about it a little !!! And i'm so happy I can finally bookmark the fics on ao3 <3

I knew nothing about Son of Sea Foam until it got submitted so I was surprised to learn about it. I didn't expect so many people to be so attached to this one fanfiction and be so happy to see it back online. It's really sweet

rereading random bits of descendants of olympus (as one does) and. vera <3 still soooo obsessed with how she takes lupa's divinity. like MAN.......there is something to how shes had to scrape and claw her way into every single good thing shes ever had. that she's never just been able to KEEP these things, that she is always always always fighting for them. and so of course she takes divinity. she wants to LIVE. and in this world where the fates themselves are trying to control her, its like--yeah. maybe you do need a gods power to finally get like, at least a year of the life you want. the life you werent supposed to have. forever thinking about vera's one line in her chapter thats like 'of course the fates are losing power. because they'd never let someone like leo into my life.' YELLS. FOREVER.

ok omg so I really want to make this post but don’t wanna spoil my friends if they possibly read sosf so I will drop this here since I think you’re literally the only person that cares on tumblr???

listen listen listen Evelyn and Dom are actually both such crucial characters in both sosf and doo because they are both fairly present in the story but not enough to truly direct it. in a sense they cause the story itself but it isn’t about them, more than anything they haunt it. both directly parallel Percy - going from a loved person who valued their family to someone consumed by their flaws - which is why Athena’s comparison of her to Percy to Zeus as the hidden child is so harrowing. part I making the characters believe they are fallen gods forces them to grapple with redemption and if redemption is even attainable for them if they are gods. and all that happens before the crescendo of part 2, 3, and especially 4 where they all make.. Decisions. it’s like if the narrative kept screaming at literally everybody “THIS IS YOUR FUTURE” before the events forcing this future to be inevitable occurred. Evelyn haunts the narrative because she’s quite literally a monster, even though deep down she’s just a person. Dom haunts it because he’s a person, even though deep down he’s really a god. by the time both are mainly absent from the plot, everybody else has become a blurred mix between all three.

+ it’s the making Dom looks like his father for me. because Dom did become his father just like Percy has become everything he hated. it’s the using Evelyn as justification for making Vera beg on her knees. its the ultimate callback for me ough.

Omggg this is so true!!! I love how they both haunt the narrative and that we’re shown how they impact the actions of the others while not even directly influencing them. Because we’re seeing this all through the eyes of an outsider, someone who can acknowledge them but not truly understand how theyre impacting people who were once close to Evelyn and Dom. There are people constantly doing things as a consequence of the actions of Evelyn, Dom, and especiallyyyy Percy!! This whole thing was kickstarted by Evelyn with Dom/Zeus actually starting it and Percy picking it up and worsening the whole situation. Majority of the bad decisions were caused because of Percy 🙂‍↔️ But I do love the parallels of the three and how connected they are ❤️❤️ The three have all suffered with Percy having a blend of what both Evelyn and Dom have gone through yet that doesnt them from causing pain to others because theyre too stuck on their beliefs. Thankfully Evelyn was able to get some sense in her after she saw the resemblance that Heracules had with her. I have a feeling Dom is getting to see what hes caused and finally becoming better but Percy… Hes gonna take a long while if he doesnt get help immediately. What is it with these three just becoming everything they hate 😒 Athenas comparison was just sooooo It really shows how power can get to your head to the point where you forget your roots

Everything else you wrote though… I AM SHAKING YOU VIOLENTLY I would love to add more to what you said but you summed it up so perfectly I cant find anything to say 😭I just want everyone to get a happy ending 😢 When I say everyone I mean EVERYONEEEEE I do fear that Percy is far too gone and seeing that Trials of Zeus takes about 8 years in the future… Percys going to get worse before he gets better 😬

OH !! Fresh, ahh Fresh..

Fresh is also a parasite in this ! But, a fish type of parasite.. a fictional one.

Fresh was born not from the Sea Foam, but from some residue of it. As such, he’s constantly linked to other sea foam originated creatures ! Physically.

Fresh has trouble with his identity. Who is he ? What is his goal in this big body of water ? Hell tell you what. Survival. Fresh favourite type of merfolk to infect are Mandarin Fish ! He likes colours, it’s a way he has to express himself :)

No matter their specie, he’ll slowly turns them into skeletons in the first stage, second stage is living his life in that body, third stage is feeding on the corpse once body is exploited.

He doesn’t feel bad ! Why should he ? It’s.. what he’s supposed to do.

Fresh likes to bothers higher graded merfolk, especially a certain Jellyfish.. Reaper is if he can’t find the other.

i do not know who sent the submission about Son of Sea Foam. but i am going to kiss you and the author on the mouth that fic was one of the best ive ever read out of any fandom and despite the chapters somehow taking an hour to finish each (seriously, how did the author write the first one in just under two months?? its so long and so well written) it's so beautiful. and wonderful. life is full of joy and happiness and my desire to write has returned. thank you anon and author
