Honestly, the longer always sunny goes on, the more it begins to feel like a tragedy. Sure, it was funny when they were horrible twenty-somethings, but now they're visibly middle-aged and still dealing with the same goddamn trauma. Hearing that Dennis is desperate for his mother's love at 20 is one thing, but at 40, it's something completely different. Just like Mac and his mom's indifference and his dad being in prison. And Charlie still having to deal with a childish mother and an abusive uncle. And Dee, still with no female friends, still just tagging along with her brother's friend group that doesn't exactly like her. And she shows it less then Dennis, but she has the same goddamn parental issues. They're all stagnant. They've been dealing with these same problems their entire lives. Yes, their childhood trauma should impact them, but they've never worked on getting better. They all still want what they never had. What they never could have. They're in their 40s and are still hoping to form healthy relationships with parents that were uncaring or incapable
