Remi works with a hesitant, erratic violence, creating a piece as light and fluffy as she is, and signing her work by hole-punching it with her teeth.

Timmy uses bold, strong lines to evoke some kind of powerful event, echoing his powerful presence and loud voice.

Nubbins, truly inspired, creates a high-energy piece that symbolizes the void where his brain should be, surrounded by chaos and mischief.

Kona, a reclusive avante garde artist, refused to work with me around. Only in quiet solitude did she create this haunting, introspective work.

Did another scratchboard style piece. I felt more confident with this one. Working with digital is not at all like working with traditional media. This is so much harder, but I'm having fun with it so I'll keep going.
More about the piece under the cut for those interested.
This a roadrunner that often comes to visit my apartment. Where I live we see these cute little guys a lot, and there's one that lives in the bushes across the way. I figured he'd make a good model for this.
The decision to work with some of the types of art I did when I was first starting learning art as a whole was a good one. I'm feeling a lot more confident that I hadn't lost as much skill as I thought and a lot of it is coming back to me really fast.
If any of you are nervous about restarting your craft, I encourage you to just try. It will be nerve-wracking at first, but I recommend starting with a style you are super familiar with even if it's not your favorite.
I have the same advice for those moving from traditional media to digital. They are not even close to the same thing so I say to start with something you'd do with ink or a sepia piece. This'll give you a chance to get a feel for the digital medium as well as help you translate your skills to using a whole different plat form.

Sorry for the slow content.
I made another scratchboard piece between phone calls and writing!
I promise I'll try to get the next fanfic out soon, and maybe my next one of these will be One Piece related instead of random squiggles. ^_^

Another art piece I did. I tried to make a scratchboard type of thing on my iPad. This turned out better than I expected and was fun to do.
I used to do scratchboards as a way to train my eye and hand. If you mess up, you just have to go with it. This always made it a great way to work on my hand coordination.
More about the work under the cut for those interested.
The black board scratched to reveal white trained my eye to look for the negative space and learn how to work with them. Most black and white pieces are great for learning the importance of negative space.
This technique also helped me learn not to overwork a piece and really helped me learn how to make my hand follow what my eye would see. If you are learning any kind of visual art, I highly recommend either getting yourself some scratchboards for practice or getting a black background with a white pen tip and trying this out.
For this piece, it is a digital piece. What I did was selected a black background color then just used a small pen tool and drew that way. It's not as satisfying as actual scratchboard, but it gives the same effect and training.
I decided to do this as it's a technique I used to use a lot so am familiar with it. It also felt like a good way to help myself get back into the feel of art. One thing I was terrified of was that I'd lost all of my skills, and while I'm rusty these older styles have helped me regain some of my confidence in my ability.
